Staying away from people who shame me for needing support instead of offering support, who demand more out of me for nothing in return.... learning boundaries is a process that takes time, especially when people have been taking advantage of you not having any your whole life....

Bessel van der Kolk is a psychiatrist who wrote the best selling book “The body keeps the score”. There are 5 points to be made after reading his book.
Lesson 1: The Brain-Body Connection Is Real
When we experience a real or perceived threat, our brain's alarm system gets triggered. This alarm system involves a region of the brain called the amygdala, which Dr. Van der Kolk refers to as the brain's smoke detector.
Lesson 2: Trauma Causes Physical Symptoms
Being trapped in a prolonged state of emotional reactivity might change the way our body functions. According to The Body Keeps the Score, when we are chronically angry or scared, constant muscle tension might lead to spasms, back pain, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia (widespread musculoskeletal pain), and other forms of chronic pain.
Lesson 3: The Mind Is Not Tending To The Present Moment
Being traumatized is not simply a problem of being stuck in the past; it is also a problem of not being fully present in the here and now.
Lesson 4: We Have the Power to Regulate Our Physiology
If our brain activity has been impacted by trauma, our brainwaves are likely less coordinated than they should be. However, dysregulated brainwave patterns are not irreparable: they can be rewired and transformed thanks to a process called neuroplasticity.
Lesson 5: Positive Relationships Are Fundamental To Our Well-Being
As Dr. Van der Kolk states in The Body Keeps the Score, our attachment bonds are our greatest protection against threats. Nothing soothes our fear like a soothing voice or a solid hug from a trusted person.

I grew up surrounded by the idea that if I put myself first or chose my needs over doing for others, I was selfish.
Reparenting myself, and releasing the social conditioning I'd picked up in my earliest years of life has been a journey.
I've been helping family members through this same process. It takes time to release our old ways of thinking.
It requires effort and awareness...but most importantly, self compassion and lot of patience.
Be gentle with yourself, you've got this! 💖

I also have inspirational designs in my shop <3
This was the first hand drawn inspirational design I made last year. After this, I began to incorporate ones with commercial free font as well (which you'll see mixed in). But I really do enjoy playing around with my handwriting from time to time :)
If you love inspirational, encouraging designs and/or original character work, I'd love it if you checked out my Redbubble! Any and all support (including reblogs) is very much appreciated 🙏
I am but a smol artist

For those who may need a little something-
Take a deep breath in
Now
Let it out
...
You are worthy. You are enough.
Sometimes the world makes you feel all types of ways. Sometimes it's your own mind being unkind.
I see how hard you're trying sweetie. It's okay to be feeling all types of ways.
Let it move through you like waves on the shore. Swelling and crashing against you till it's time to send them back out to sea. With a drop from the vast ocean you hold within, let the tears flow and go back out again.
Everyone heals differently and you're doing it no matter the speed or steps back you take.
You're doing it sweetie, you're doing great 🌟
- from someone who believes in you 💫

10 Psychological Tips That’ll Help You Get Your Life Together
1. If you can figure out why your parents did this or that, you’ll be able to forgive them and take a huge step towards accepting yourself just as you are.
2. When it comes to beating yourself up for past mistakes, don’t forget that you made that decision because you felt that it was right for you at that time in your life.
3. If you’ve been hurt by someone, tell them how you feel, but choose your words wisely. Instead of saying, “You betrayed me!”, a much better way to open a dialogue is to say, “I feel betrayed.”
4. Try to have desires and goals that are your own and not somebody else’s. When we try to live another person’s life, we destroy our own.
5. You can change your life if you just step out of your comfort zone and start doing things you’d never imagine yourself doing.
6. You don’t have to be nice and accommodating for everybody and give up your own desires and expectations. It’s perfectly okay to say “no”.
7. Don’t wait for the right moment, take steps to make your life better every single day.
8. Each stressful situation pulls you out of your comfort zone. And with it, you’ve gained new experience that will help you learn your lesson so that you never repeat the same mistakes again.
9. Do everything that’s in your power, and then let the situation work itself out. It’s pointless to stress over something you can’t change and have no control over.
10. Remember you’re the person you spend your whole life with. No matter how much everyone else praises you, if you don’t like yourself, you’ll still be miserable.

struggling in life Poem
This is my first poem. I never type any poem. I am not sure if it will help or not help.
If you need something to see and look at while you are struggling,
I don't know if anyone needs to hear this.
whatever you are struggling with,
your reasons and feelings are personal.
struggling in life can be a lesson.
it's not the end of the world.
Just think struggling in life can be a long way to heal from.
healing takes time and it can be messy.
you can choose to share or not share with anyone.
just know you will be alright if your door is closed.
there is nothing with that.
I hope some days can make you happy.
find something that makes you smile today!
