Ate a grapefruit and a cucumber this morning. Fixed my cauli protein mixture.... but I am not actually hungry just yet.

It is on deck, whenever I get hungry.

It is about my lunch break so I am about to go hit up the elliptical! Woo!

This weekend marks the start of a new era for me. Gonna actually try and get in shape, the only way I know how, playing games. I have finally convinced my parents to allow me to have the family's Nintendo Wii from when I was a kid.

I like to think that Vulcans who come to understand that Humans just can’t try to process emotions the same way as them, it’s just healthiest to let it out in harmless ways, decide that venting and stuff should be taken just as seriously as Vulcan’s meditation time, and will encourage the Humans around them to complain about what’s upsetting them

#star trek #Vulcans #Humans #not based on a specific thing #but I used to know this annoying couple that were ‘family friends’ #who would show up to potluck dinners and the like and would either bring nothing or bring something really just. out of left field? #like a bag of frozen chicken to a bbq #and then proceed to make sure they are first even if it was stated to let kids go first #would take HUGE amounts before anyone else got a chance to get a plate #and then make off with the leftovers again even if they were already claimed for #and it wasn’t a food insecurity thing trust me I would never speak bad about a person getting food if that was even a remote chance #the adults who raised us knew them really well and we’d been to their house a ton of times #they were just dicks #and yeah. they’d occasionally insult the food. while eating the MAJORITY of it. #it was so weird at their home they would go out of their way to get the healthiest options possible #you know the really bland tasteless expensive stuff that apparently was healthier #but then if they were visiting our house they would. eat all our unhealthy snacks. #that always pissed me off so much as a kid because we actually had a food insecurity thing going on #and also a variety of other reasons that are a bit too depressing to bring up on this post #but anyways we’d hardly ever get to have nice snacks #and this couple would just take them all??? even after we’d tell them repeatedly that it was ours and those snacks weren’t gonna be #replaced #hated that couple #if you’re wondering why they were ‘family friends’ it’s because the couple who raised us #(it feels weird to type it out like that but apparently legal guardians doesn’t fit since they never finished petitioning 💀) #liked having them around because it made them look like ‘such great Christian’s’ being nice to the people #that no one else wanted to be friends with #I always thought that was a really weird and fucked up reason to be friends with someone #this got long sorry 😭

as a kid that grew up rich, i'm so glad we have fabian to represent the weird feeling of having everything EXCEPT the thing you need - your parent's support.

mine was closer to adaine where my parents hated everything unique and genuinely cool about me, but i didn't get the benefit of leaving them (or them tossing me aside.) partly because i wasn't as courageous as adaine in defying my parents when they were being assholes. i was adaine if she actually bought into her parents' messaging that she inherently sucked and needed to conform to her parents' ideals.

but it was also combined with parents who will make sure you have everything bc it's part of their identity as New Money Parents that want to give everything to their kid so they can Show Their Friends how much money they have (and not to actually help or dote on their kid).

Elliott thought it would be a good idea to bring variation to single men’s food life. So he established this club, where they would all trade food they cook. Maybe once a week.

How nice it is if it brings positive things to their life. Like encouraging them to cook new dishes, enhance their recipe with tips & tricks from each other, having something to look forward to, & having reason to do a lot more socialization.

It might start as a club for older single men, which includes Clint, yes Elliot would encourage him to join -- even the older folks if they want to.

But who knows Kent might be interested to join to, to distracts him from the thoughts as this club seems like a good therapy for those who are a bit sad.

And maybe! Other married men too, even if they are happy! xD

Just thinking about the implications of this, but Halsin's way of indicating that his family has long passed is: "save for [him], [his] line perished a long time ago".

Aside from it being a decidedly more old fashioned and more eloquent way of indicating what happened (as is shown in shades in Halsin's speaking patterns, which is likely trying to illustrate his age as well as push the "wise mentor" angle), by stating that his line has ended with him, practically, it means both sets of grandparents are gone, both parents are gone, and either Halsin is an only child (unlikely considering Wood Elves, but possible), or any and all of his siblings are gone, too. And if you stretch what you consider part of a line, rather than just keeping direct, that could extend to aunts and uncles and cousins as well (though it's hard to say concretely what Halsin includes in a familial line).

So it leaves me to wonder what happened to reduce an entire elven line to one elf, when Halsin himself is only just approaching middle-age and he pointedly says it happened a long time ago, so it wasn't a recent event, and the lot of them likely didn't die from old age/natural causes. Was his entire village wiped out at one point? Disease or a raid or orcs or a wildfire or what?

Hbomberguy’s new video was very depressing for me. I know many of yall have been sitting here talking about how none of this has anything to do with you bc you don’t watch the creators he called out (congrats on completely missing the point btw) but I DO. I watched basically all of the people he spent significant time on.

On some levels, yeah I’m disappointed in myself for not even HEARING about any of the past controversies around plagiarism most of them had before his video. But also….I have a full time job, I have bills and responsibilities that I didn’t have when I was 17 and getting great entertainment out of YouTube drama. I don’t have the fucking time or energy to sit and vet creators with the thoroughness and determination that Harris has. My lesson from all this is when I find a video that I find insightful or makes me think…..I’m reverse searching that script.

The common head canon of uncontrollable feral kid!Dick is adorable, but it doesn’t make any sense to me. In canon, kid Dick is usually pretty sweet and eager to please, which is what you’d expect from a kid who at age 8 witnessed his parents’ violent deaths, was shoved into juvie for a few months, and then was taken in by a wealthy but angry and emotionally unavailable man.

Yes, he wanted to find his parents’ killer and get justice for them, but once that is done and he realizes he’ll be staying with Bruce and acting as Robin, he is sweet, helpful, obedient and basically as lovable as possible to keep Bruce liking him.

And Dick wasn’t wrong to do that — as soon as he hits his teens and acts out just a little (because his teen rebellion phase is pretty darn mild), Bruce flips his shit, fires him from Robin and starts screaming at him all the time.

Like, I love fics about wild kid Dick, and I love fics where Dick is an angry traumatized kid and Bruce is a patient loving dad. But unfortunately that’s not really how it played out. I don’t think Bruce in canon is a horrible dad, but he’s definitely emotionally immature and has trouble parenting a kid who isn’t actively trying to please him (see also: Jason before his death, Timothy, and even Damian in his own way).

If you saw this on the Dropout Discord, no you didn't. But I have to talk about the family dynamics and relationships in this last episode of Fantasy High because I can't stop thinking about it.

Okay but seriously, the conversation with Sklonda and the one with Aelwyn have me feeling all sorts of ways thanks to my weird mix of developmental trauma. They hit SO HARD

I can't stop thinking about how Aelwyn felt like she had to move out not because anyone did anything wrong at Mordrid Manor, but because they were too kind and nice to her. Like there's this incredibly confusing and impossible to articulate combination of despair, confusion, disgust, jealousy, and shame that comes from being in a place that loves and accepts you for you after being in a place that didn't for so long. And how even if you know logically that the place is safe and you are loved, your body just doesn't believe it and you're constantly on edge and overwhelmed. It's painfully relatable as someone with that experience. I've never seen someone else relate or put those feelings into words before but I feel so seen.

Sklonda just caring so deeply about her son and being so worried and also so frustrated with her son's friends is just heartbreaking. And her not liking that they call him Ball is just icing on the cake. Because in reality, it's not a very kind nickname, seeing as it comes from Riz being bullied. And even though Riz has reclaimed it, the scars are still healing for Sklonda and that's deep too. That hit real hard too!

OH and don't even get me started on Fabian being neglected. His mom called FIG AND NOT HIM?! OH MY GOD IT HURTS! The role play this season hurts SO GOOD!!
