Morning to you!!!
Fogginess of the mind:
We train our minds to look for medical diagnoses instead of a spiritual unveiling. The body, mind, and spirit is a whole entity not separate parts.
Then, we wonder why there isn’t complete healing or restoration.
Aim to see beyond what you feel and see.

The healing part of my life
The hardest part about being sick is not to start over again, is not to lose yourself in the process, is not to not be able to recognize who you are at that moment. The hardest part about being sick is to start healing yourself, because it is in that moment where you realize everything that was wrong, everything you never knew you were missing.
People say will is the strongest power of them all. If you want something enough, it will happen. People also tell you love conquers all, it can move mountains and cross oceans, those people have no fucking idea.
It all started with my hands. My little hands. And after several doctor appointments and tests, I was diagnosed with a condition called Hashimoto Thyroiditis. Hashimoto Thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease that destroys the thyroid; which is a butterfly-shaped gland that is in charge of regulating many of our body’s systems at the same time, meaning that my own body was attacking itself every day and will continue to attack itself for the rest of my life. There is no cure, only treatment. So, my immune system got damaged at some point, the good news: the treatment was simple. And I wish I could say that everything got better from that moment on and I started being healthier and finally complete; however, nothing is ever as you believe it is.
If you haven’t gone through it, you may not understand it. But statistics say 1 of 10. 1 in every 10 women understand it. 10% of women suffer from it. I’m talking about a disease that’s so big, so painful and we still don’t know enough about it. There is not enough research being done, not enough doctors specialized for that. There is not enough information in this world to help you deal with it; because when you are dealing with endometriosis, the only thing for sure is that nothing is sure. Everyone reacts differently to different treatments, so it’s up to you to figure it out. It’s up to you to find out what works for you. For those of you out there that don’t know what endometriosis is, it is a chronic disease in which endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus, it can grow on the ovaries, on the fallopian trumps, on your bowel, sometimes it can go further and grow on vital organs. This tissue causes pain, a lot of pain located in different places; bleedings; discomfort bowel movements; cramps and many other symptoms depending on where this tissue is located and how it reacts to the body. I can tell you from personal experience that it can actually mess with your body temperature, your feelings, your appetite, your sleeping pattern, your body, your mind, and on and on.
So this is the truth, the truth about living with a disease that people don’t talk about, that doctors don’t ever consider and that no one warns you about. The truth about living with a disease that hurts yourself every minute of every day. This is the truth about living with endometriosis.
I spent an entire, painful and terrible year trying to find the right treatment. I saw a total of 5 specialists, I did around 10 different exams, I took approximately 15 different types of medications and started about 5 different diets and nothing ever worked. The problem always came back. The pain never left and the fire inside me started to grow with every week that I considered a bad week. Nothing ever seemed to work, my body didn’t seem to feel fine at all and I started to give up on myself. My life started to fill with what I consider bad days and suddenly I was having more bad days than good ones.
I’d been sick for a while, but that’s the problem isn’t it? We’ve always been so used to normalizing women's problems. “It’s normal”, “Your pain is normal, every other woman goes through the same and they don’t complain” But that just is, isn’t it? No woman goes through the same; and, of course, the normal thing is that it is never a lady problem, it can’t be because it’s such a taboo topic. It has to be something else, it has to be your fault so it’s probably just colitis, you probably just have a bad diet, you eat a lot of junk food, so it’s probably just irritable bowel syndrome. You probably just don’t exercise enough, you probably just have about any illness that doesn't involve your reproductive system; because, of course, women always exaggerate their pain. Don’t they?
So let me ask you this: What about the pain you feel everyday of your life? a pain that doesn’t necessarily come right when you period starts and ends with it; no, this is a pain that lives with you every single day; and if you are lucky, some days that pain doesn’t arrive, those are the good days. But what about the lack of air in your chest when you exercise? The pressure you feel when you are climbing the stairs and start gasping for air because you just don’t have enough. What about the soreness of your entire body? And I really mean your entire body; imagine that your hands swell constantly, and they hurt and you don’t seem to be able to do normal activities because it hurts you a lot. Imagine the pain in your legs, in your chest, in your belly, in your neck, in your back, imagine a pain that spreads through your whole body for no reason at all. What about being awake at 2am, tired but just not being able to go to sleep? What about still being awake at 6am? No relaxing music was enough, no mediating did the trick, no magic pill helped me at 4am when I haven’t slept at all, and I just knew, I was going to wake up so tired, so irritable, so over everything. That was a bad day, and the problem was, on those days, I didn’t seem to care at all about anything. What about the anger that grows inside you because everything you are experiencing it’s just too much? What about the impotence of not being able to feel better? To do anything?
Now imagine the situation when your chest starts to hurt, you are not able to breathe at the regular speed, your hands are shaking and the world starts to fall apart. Everything around you is moving but you can't move, you can't breathe, you can't do anything about it. You are not able to control the fire growing within your stomach and firing everything inside, you can just stay there, terrified and waiting… for the panic attack to end.
Is that just overstating?
Some days I had to take a really hot shower just to let myself relax and feel better, and in the middle of that shower I started crying; because it was unfair, because it didn’t feel right at all, because I felt like I wanted to give up on everything, but I couldn’t. And I didn’t. So that's part of the truth about living with this. It is something that will destroy your life completely if you let it. It’s something that’s gonna take out a lot from you. Your patience, your mental health, your life.
And I know not every women goes through the same thing, every experience is different, every body is different, every disease spreads different, but what we all have in common is the moment of no return, the giving up, the exhausting pain and the fear of living this life forever.
It’s something that some people will never understand. Something that some people will even laugh about, but it’s important to remember to never lose faith in yourself. Don’t lose your patience or your understanding. Don’t you lose everything that you’ve gained along the way. Of course I didn’t learn that at first, it took a lot of me to get there, to that part where there were more good days than bad ones again.
I’ve been in treatment for endometriosis for about 6 months now, after several more months trying treatments for other diseases that weren’t quite the right ones. And, you know, it’s now like the movies, the pain didn’t magically stop and my life wasn’t better from one day to another. It took time, patience and a lot of effort. But it did. The truth is, every treatment for this disease is terrible, it has a lot of consequences that usually people take for granted. Do you know what these pills contain? It’s a mix of hormones that prevent women from ovulating. This means that it alters the natural balance of a woman's body, forcing it to stop doing something that it does naturally. So my body started to change completely. I basically started to become someone else.
The first months with the pill I had constant pain, constant nausea, constant mood changes. I could be having a really good day and go to bed and start crying immediately, why? No reason at all. Eventually my sleeping changed, my appetite changed, the pain settled down and the hormones started to adapt to my body. And it wasn’t a regular process where you feel right again and that feeling never stops, no. There are still bad days, there is still pain, there are still feelings of giving up. But I don’t, and I won’t, because fighting a disease like that, fighting myself just to be able to feel the normal “fine” has been one the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but also the best, because without it I wouldn’t be myself, without it I would be less me.
So, I started to feel again, to breathe again, to live again; it’s weird but I actually think I started to smell better. I started to feel invincible. Have you ever felt that way? Like anything it’s possible, I did once, but I was in love, and when that ended I spent a long time trying to convince myself that I had to be able to feel that way again, by myself. I had to be able to feel full, complete, at peace. I had to be able to be enough on my own. I had no idea how wrong I was.
Have you ever felt like you are not good enough? Like no matter what you do or say, it just doesn’t seem to be enough? What if, literally, you aren’t. What if your own body is not producing enough hormones in your body to be normal? What if, not only are you not producing enough, but your body also is determined to attack itself everyday just to make it stop working? What if your own body causes your pain? A pain that never leaves, that never disappears, a pain that is constantly there, remembering you that there’s something wrong with you. What happens when you have to fight everyday with your body not being exactly what you need? If one day you forget to take your pill, that’s it. Your day is going to suck because you are not going to be enough for 24 hours until you take it again.
Healing is a very complicated word, it can mean anything, you may heal from a scrape or a burn, you may heal from a stitch or a surgery and even from a broken heart; but it is very complicated to heal from a broken soul. It’s the hardest part of it all, to heal your soul, to heal your mind, to remember to yourself everyday that you are still worth fighting for, you are still good enough, even when everything in your body makes you feel like you aren’t. Healing is a very complicated process because no matter how hard it is, you have to wake up every day and look at you in the mirror and try, still. Fight, still. Love, still. Despite all.
The hardest part about healing is that one day you start feeling better. One day, the pain starts going away, your body starts waking up, your mind starts remembering. It’s like your soul remembers what the body forgot. And the reminiscent of the pain and the hate to yourself shames your soul now. You have no idea how long it’s been since you haven’t felt this way, and you have no idea how to forgive that part of yourself that made you feel so small. You got so used to a routine, so used to feeling bad, you got used to feeling so down that you found a new normal and sometimes it worked so well that you didn’t even know that it wasn’t. But if you do it, if you actually manage to heal yourself, your body and your soul, then the pain leaves a hole, a place in your mind you have to fill with love, with love and forgiveness, because one of the hardest parts of healing is forgiving yourself for feeling not good enough, for feeling like you didn’t deserve it. The hardest part of healing is to love yourself again after all this time. But you have to do it and you have to do it on purpose.
It’s been a long time since I haven’t felt like myself, and today, I finally started to do it. Maybe will is a pretty powerful power, maybe love does conquer all, maybe everything just happens the way it’s supposed to happen, at the exact moment when it’s supposed to happen. So perhaps this journey wasn’t supposed to be about anything else but to find myself. After all, isn’t that what life is about?
