The Lucky Horseshoes - A Heartland Season 16 AU - Chapter 14
Tumblr media
Chapter 14
“Did you buy that suit for this ?” She asked reaching over to take his hand just after they reached Highway 2 North to Calgary.
“Everything but the boots, Grandpa insisted, you ?”
Amy smiled “Everything I’m wearing was bought just for you.”
“So, a lot riding on this date huh ?”
“Just being asked on an actual going out date is special for me Finn, Ty and I really never did this.”
“Seriously, even when you were married ?”
“Wasn’t our thing I guess, though I probably would have loved it. No hiding it,  I have no idea how to do this.”
“Then I’m glad we’re doing it together, you should be a part of special things Amy.”
“I’m glad we’re doing it too.” She said softly moving her fingers between his seeing he had moved his closer and turned it to accept hers readily.
She felt his thumb gently rub over hers a moment after their fingers intertwined. The familiar goosebumps he brought her running up her spine again.
“So the paint and stuff is all waiting at the house ?”
“And the crew is raring to start taping first thing tomorrow, I guess we’ll be moving in within the month or so.”
“Still excited ?”
“On a bunch of levels, I’m looking forward to, well, a host of things actually.”
“Nervous too ?”
“Maybe a little but not really, to be completely truthful a lot of that has gone away. Lyndy’s positively giddy, Grandpa and my dad are pretty much on board, Clint’s anxious for it to happen as are the kids and Renata is great.”
“So what are you looking forward to the most ?”
“I’m not sure, actual alone time is pretty high on the list.”
Finn smiled and glanced over “doesn’t sound too promising for me.”
Amy smirked and squeezed his hand “alone time with you is pretty high on that list too Finn Cotter.”
“Actually looking forward to that porch swing myself.”
“I’m sorry Finn.”
“You have nothing to be sorry about Amy.”
“You’re Ok with well, us, I mean the timing, the uhm, status of us as a couple ?”
“I’m fine waiting for the alone time and you Amy, I’m not going anywhere and there isn’t a hotel room I’m planning on springing on you later, I’m happy.”
Amy sighed “I wasn’t sure I’d ever feel this happy again.”
“That’s good to hear and this is probably not the best timing but I’m going to need this hand in a minute.”
He looked over and saw Amy pout but disentangle her fingers from his and take her hand back.
“We’ll be there soon.”
“Have you been before ?”
“Nope, going on reputation alone.”
“Cass had been twice, she say’s it’s nice.”
“Let’s hope Cass and the rep hold up then because we’ll be there in a minute, it should be right up this road.”
Finn pulled  through the entrance and up to the front where they were immediately approached by two men. One opened Amy’s door and held out his hand for her and one went around to the driver’s side and handed Finn a card as he stood.
Amy waited at the foot of the stairs for Finn and put out her hand for him to take as they walked up to the doors where a young lady was waiting to hold it open for them.
Once up the stairs Finn immediately put his arm around her waist and she was happy to tuck herself into his side and lean up for a kiss before they stepped over to the small desk.
“Reservation ?”
“Finn Cotter.”
“Yes sir, right here, table for two, it’s a nice night and we have an outside table under the eve by the lake, would that suit ?”
Finn glanced over for Amy’s smile and nod and then back to the young lady. “Perfect.”
“Excellent then, if you’ll follow me this way.”
When they entered the restaurant they were led through some tables and Finn never took his hand from her body but simply shifted it so that they could walk single file to the double doors to the outside terrace where they were led to a table for two against the rail by the lake where a small candle was lit while Finn pulled out her chair and got Amy seated.
Before moving away he leaned over for a kiss and she took a second to raise her hand to his cheek.
“This is beautiful Finn.”
Before turning he took her hand and kissed her palm then took a step and sat down across from her where she immediately laid her hand on the table between them for him to take.
“Your waitress will be by in a second, will you be having wine with dinner ?”
Finn looked at Amy for a second and smiled “We’re not really wine drinkers but I’d love a drink.”
“Then we’ll forego the sommelier and your server will take your drink order. It’s a nice night, enjoy your dinner.”
“So what’s your drink ?” Amy asked looking around and noticing the sunset over the lake “This is really beautiful.”
“It’s a nice night, anyway my drink changes, before dinner I’ll have a Manhattan usually and an unsweetened ice tea or water with dinner. Burgers get a beer. Mostly music place either a beer or a margarita. I don’t drink much and don’t have a problem being the designated driver. Was Ty a drinker ?”
“He’s had too much but never really to excess, at least with me. One too many beers when he did, couldn’t drive but not mushy or slurry. I’ve never really known him to do shots or stuff like that, again at least with me. The current drinkers in the family prefer wine, Georgie beer. My dad had a drink and drug problem, I guess he still does but he’s been sober for years.”
“Yeah my grandpa’s also sober but had a problem years ago.”
Amy watched as a young lady walked through some tables and smiled at her when she stopped at their table.
“Good evening folks, I’m Eva your server so if there’s anything you need just catch my attention” she said laying two menus on the table.
“Need a drink menu or do you know what you want ?”
“I’ll have a cranberry and soda with some lime please.”
“Excellent and you sir ?”
“Manhattan, rye please, two cherries, on the rocks.”
“No problem, let me get these for you and I’ll be back for your orders.”
They both took the single sheet menus and scanned down the dishes.
“Do you like fish Amy ?”
“I do and don’t eat enough of it, mostly salmon. Grandpa fishes a lot but it’s all pretty much catch and release though at the fishing cabin it’s dinner sometimes.”
“Feel like splitting an appetizer, we could try the Lake House Fish Plank ? It’s mostly local smoked fish it seems.”
“Sounds good to me, how about mains ? The Wild Boar Chop looks good to me, I think I’ll get that, seems weird to order beef being that it’s kind of our business.”
“Well, the steak Jack made was great so no argument here. How about I get the Marinated Bison Flat Iron Steak ?”
“That sounds good too, how about we promise each other a taste or two ?”
“Share my bison huh ? Hmmmmm, I guess that would be Ok.”
“And we’ll choose desserts after ?”
“I guess we’ll have to share those too.”
“We’ll see, I kind of like my desserts.”
“You do like your sweets.”
“You got me there.”
“I’m kind of sweet.”
“I do like you Finn Cotter.” She said putting down her menu and  putting her hand back across the table to be immediately taken by him. She loved his touch and thought again how gentle it was considering the callouses expected from his work.
“I’m afraid they’re not soft.”
Amy took her eyes from looking at their hands and smiled “And I was just thinking how gentle they were.”
He had an absolutely adorable grin which showed up every now and then when he pushed his flirting a little, it was another thing about him that she loved.
“So you think about my gentle hands often ?”
“Often enough.”
“Good thoughts ?”
Now it was her turn “they give me goosebumps.”
They were interrupted and brought back to reality by their server who brought their drinks. She waited until they each took a sip and brought up her iPad.
Finn looked at Amy “me ?” She smiled and nodded.
“Ok then, we’ll share the Lake House Fish Plank for Two and my girlfriend will have the Wild Boar Chop.”
“How would you like that cooked ma’am ?”
“Medium rare please.”
“Very good and you sir ?”
“I’ll have the Bison Flat Iron Steak, I guess also medium rare.”
“Excellent, I’ll be back to check in on you in few minutes.”
They both nodded at their server and both took second sips of their drinks when Finn put his hand out for her to take “dance ?”
“Nobody’s dancing Finn.” Amy said looking around. There was a trio and a singer and even a small dance floor but there seemed to be no interest at the moment.
“You know how it is Amy, everybody waits for the first couple. C’mon.” He said standing with that grin of his.
She smiled and stood still holding his hand as he stepped aside and let her lead them to the dance floor. She noticed that as before he simultaneously shifted from holding her hand to having a hand on her waist. It was a good feeling and one of those things that was new to her. Dating as an adult was completely different than what she was used to. She’s wasn’t sure if it was better but it was certainly more comfortable and honest, at least to her.
Finn surprised her when he turned her gently  and moved her perfectly into a classic waltz stance.
“You know how to dance don’t you ?” She leaned back slightly and asked before closing the gap between them.
“Know is a relative word I guess, mom likes to dance and taught me the basics. You ?”
“My friend’s and I taught ourselves when we were 13 thinking that some boy or another will one day ask us. Do you like dancing ?”
“Never did much of it honestly but I kinda like this”
“I kinda like it too.” She said softly and then glanced around and saw two other couples who had joined them and giggled “It really is like high school.”
She smiled and looked up at him and Finn leaned forward for a kiss to which she was happy to reciprocate. “One more ?” He asked when the song ended.
“Mmmmmm,” she murmured laying her head against his chest for the few seconds it took for the trio to start another song. As the song was ending Finn saw the waitress signal to which he nodded acknowledgment. “I think our food’s ready.”
Once again Amy turned towards the table and she felt Finn’s hand slipping onto her waist to guide her and maintain contact. She turned into him when he moved behind her to help with her seat and leaned up to kiss him.
The waitress smiled and stood waiting for Finn to seat himself before moving the smoked fish platter between them and point out the different bites available.
“I could ask them to hold off on firing your entrees if you’d like a couple dances between courses ?”
Amy smiled and looked at Finn across the table “that would be wonderful Eva, thank you.”
“Fill-up ?” She asked taking Finn’s empty high ball glass.
“Unsweetened iced tea ?
“Not a problem.” She said turning to Amy.
“I’m good, thanks.”
“So we like the dancing ?” He asked when Eva turned away.
“I like the touching part.” Amy answered reaching for a taste of one of the fish slices. “Oh, this is so good.”
“It is good.” Finn answered swallowing a bite of his own.
As soon as they were done they left the empty platter and headed back to the dance floor. It almost seemed to Amy that he held her just a drop closer than earlier and she wondered if he could feel the effect that being so close to him had on her. During their last dance before Eva signaled that their entrees were ready Amy lay her head against his chest as he wrapped his arms around her waist while her hands snaked around his neck. When she looked up at him and craned her neck up their kiss sent shivers up her spine.
They sat through dinner, playfully passing bites to each other for tastes. They gave their dessert orders of a Dark Chocolate Marquis and a Sticky Toffee Pudding along with a carafe of fresh dark roast coffee before heading back to the dance floor. In the end they were one of the last couples to leave with a wave and a bright smile from Eva.
“Did you have a good night Amy ?” Finn asked as their hands joined on the way back to Hudson.
Amy sighed and squeezed his hand “I thought the whole night was dreamy, I don’t really have the words, you, the dinner, the place, it was wonderful.”
“I guess maybe the Lake House can sort of be our place for special occasions.”
Amy nodded, “definitely a contender, especially the dancing part.”
“Yeah, definitely my favorite part.”
“Thank you so much for tonight Finn.”
Finn smiled and lightly squeezed her hand. He switched off the headlights after turning into the ranch and pulled up to the house slowly.
“It’s so peaceful and quiet at night.” Amy said waiting for Finn to come around to her side.
“Feel like sitting ?” He asked as they headed up the porch chairs.
“Sitting would be nice.” She said moving over to the bench they seemed to prefer. When they sat she tucked herself into his side as his arm moved around her shoulder gently following her body.
After a minute he leaned over and kissed her head.
She smiled and moved herself a bit so her hand could sneak under his jacket and she laid her head against his chest and sighed when his hand followed her body over her back to her waist.
“You know, you don’t smell like horses.”
Finn laughed “uhm, thank you ?”
“No.” Amy said giggling “I mean we always pretty much smell like horses but not tonight.”
He laughed again “yeah, I get what you’re saying. Horse isn’t a bad smell.”
“It’s the smell I grew up with, it’s almost weird not to was the point I was making.”
“To be fair, I noticed that you didn’t smell like horse either.”
It was almost simultaneous that she lifted her head and he shifted to the side so that they fit together comfortably when their lips met. Her head swam as they kissed and she could feel his hand move gently on her back which she naturally reciprocated. She loved his touch and her body reacted. She couldn’t totally concentrate but Amy felt good and happier than she’d been for a long time.
She didn’t know exactly when they slowly pulled away from each other but after looking at him for a few seconds she reached up and touched his lips with her finger and then leaned up to kiss him one more time.
“We have an early morning coming up.” He whispered.
“Mmmmmm.” She murmured straightening up and then smiling, ran a finger across his brow to neaten up a droop of his hair.
They walked to the door with his arm around her and Amy’s arms wrapped around his waist. At the door they shifted and he held her close with his hands on her waist with her arms around his neck. Their kisses were slow and deliberate and they were both lost in each other’s space.
His voice was a whispered croak and he was lost in her eyes as she was in his.
“Text me when you leave tomorrow and I’ll meet you at the center.”
“With the crew.”
“It’ll be a good start, I took off Monday and I have most of Tuesday for painting.”
“You didn’t have to do that.”
“Cabinets Wednesday and plumber Friday, I’d feel better knowing everything was ready.”
Amy laughed “Just can’t wait to get me on that swing can ya ?”
“I love you Amy.”
It was the first time either of them had said the words and she had a warm sensation spread over her. “I love you too Finn Cotter.”
He smirked leaning down to kiss her and murmured “Just like high school.”

Bad Business: A Heartland Murder Mystery EPILOGUE

EPILOGUE
One Month Later
A Certain Private Fishing Cabin
The fire over which they had cooked the fish Jack caught was mellowing. A cool breeze drifted through the valley from the mountains and the river waters babbled softly in the hush of the advancing evening.
Jack and Lisa sat together on the porch, enjoying the surrounding scenery while they sipped some French wine sent by Aunt Evelyn.
This getaway had been a long time coming, and both were simply happy to be in each other's presence without any distractions or worries.
"What a beautiful evening," Lisa said, leaning her head against Jack's shoulder. "I'm so glad we came out here together."
"Me, too," Jack said. Neither wanted to rehash what happened the last time he ventured out to the cabin alone.
"When you brought me out here that first time, I thought I'd found a piece of heaven," Lisa remarked.
"I remember," Jack said with a smile. "And here we are again, all these years later."
"And it's still a piece of heaven," she said. "I don't think we could get any closer if we tried. My happiness is complete."
"Well, now that you mention complete happiness..." Jack said enigmatically. "There's something I want to show you."
Lisa raised her head from his shoulder. Jack reached into his jeans pocket to pull something from it. A memory stirred in Lisa's mind from the winter evening when a similar motion took place. Back then, Jack had withdrawn a padded pink velvet-covered box to reveal an antique ring that once belonged to his grandmother. Lisa looked now to see a small, square leather pouch resting in his palm.
"What is it?" she asked when he did not utter anything further.
Instead of answering verbally, Jack fished inside the pouch to reveal a shiny, solid gold band—too big for her to wear, she knew right away from its size.
"Take it," Jack said simply.
Gingerly, Lisa reached for it, however puzzled she was, and asked: "What's this for?" He certainly could not be making another marriage proposal; that would be redundant at this point.
Jack stretched out his left hand towards her, splaying his calloused fingers. "Lis, I know you were disappointed when we got married that I didn't want to wear a wedding ring..."
Instant tears sprang to her eyes in understanding of what this meant. "Jack..." A tiny sniffle escaped and a large smile broke out onto her face as she slipped the band onto his ring finger.
"I love you, and I love being married to you," Jack said. "I'm sorry I was too stuck in my ways to add this little piece to our life together."
"And I have something for you, too," Lisa said, brushing aside a tear that had escaped.
"Oh, do you?" Jack asked. "Would this have anything to do with your visit with your legal counsel a little while ago?"
Lisa's lips twitched into a smile. "Why yes, it would, Mr. Bartlett," she answered. "I spoke with my lawyer about some very important things during that visit, which included updating my will and business affairs, but that's another topic for another time."
"Hmm..." Jack hummed, knowing Dan's involvement in her business life was now a thing of the past, thank goodness.
"Jack, I've proudly carried the Stillman name my whole life. I love my name and my family heritage. But you are my family, Jack. You, Lou, Amy, Tim, Ty, Peter, Georgie, Katie and Lyndy—all of you have welcomed me into your home and into your hearts. I don't want to be 'Lisa Stillman' anymore, so I've made a little change."
"You have?" Jack said, elation bubbling up within, sensing, but not quite believing what Lisa was hinting at.
"I wanted to save this surprise for a little later in our vacation, but now is as good a time as any. I want to announce I am now officially 'Lisa Bartlett'," she said, reaching into her shoulder bag to pull out a manila business envelope. She withdrew a document declaring that legal change. "How does that sound to you?"
"I think... I think it sounds like the best thing I have heard in a very, very long time," a beaming Jack replied, looking at the document. "Mrs. Bartlett."
He gathered her into his arms and their lips met in a deep, perfect kiss.
"I love you, Mrs. Bartlett," he whispered when they at last parted.
"I love you more, Mr. Bartlett," she whispered back with her customary response, leaning in for another kiss.
Jack did not argue the point, as he was fairly certain their love for each other burned with equal intensities, and would for the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.
Addendum:
It would come out during Chief Parker's team's investigation that the tiny Raven MP-25 Jesse fired at Lisa, recovered in the barn after Jesse tried to shoot Ty, had been registered to Val Stanton. It was a weapon she had purchased following the death of her husband for the purpose of personal protection while at Briar Ridge.
Thanks to the eyewitness account of "the man in Cabin Two" burning something in the firepit the night of the second attempt on Lisa's life, the forensics team found traces of fabric among the ashes and debris which matched the cotton-polyester blend commonly used in some hospital scrubs.
Prior to re-opening the Dude Ranch for business, Lou permitted the Chief's team to conduct a final sweep of the area, as one piece of the puzzle remained elusive. It took nearly four hours of searching, but the investigators finally found what they were seeking: the motorcycle Earl McCann fled on when eluding capture at the hospital. After his failed attempt at killing Lisa, the cops surmised McCann rode back to the vicinity of the Dude Ranch, secreted the bike in some bushes, and walked on foot to the firepit by the pier. There, he immediately disrobed and burned the disguise he had used to blend in among the medical staff. While he had indeed been hired to bring about Lisa's death by any means necessary, McCann's own death was mere hours away, as his foolhardy pursuit of the wandering bear would seal his fate.
Heartland neighbour and dairy farmer Gerrit Van der Heyden would eventually sight the roving bear on his property a few weeks later. It was confirmed to be the one that attacked Herring and killed Earl McCann. Fish and Wildlife authorities euthanized it, though some would be sad about its fate, given what was known of the beast's role in discovering the culprits responsible for a few unsolved murders and the attempts on Lisa's life.
All Herring's wounds physical, psychological, and emotional, fully healed thanks to the teamwork of Ty, Amy and a recovered Remi.
Adam Parker continued to write his blog and would report on the court proceedings involving Jesse Stanton, Theresa Haywood, Stanley Belmont, and Tanner Gunn. The cases are still being tried at this time, though with the overwhelming evidence against the accused, guilty verdicts are expected.

Sypnopsis - Professor Crowley helping you his dear student relive some stress.
Warnings - Smut 18+, Teacher x student, squirting, dirty talk, humiliation, gagging, flattery!
A/n - I was been supposed to get this done. Sorry for the delay I got really busy with school. But it’s out now thanks for the support! And also before anyone starts Y/n is grown. REBLOG PLS!!
.
.
“It’s been months since I’ve seen my family! My friends hell even my enemies.” What have you been doing this whole time? Answer me, Crowley,” you demanded!
“Y/n I have a school to run on top of trying to solve your impossible dilemma. For all I know you might’ve fallen from the sky like the tums.” Well, you’re not doing a good job at your school if your students keep overblotting,” you snapped.
You were tired of Crowley's BS that’s why you stormed into his office. You were currently standing over his desk looking his stupid mask in the eyes. He sat on his chair which resembled a bird cage.
“I have to be the one to stop them from dying because conveniently somehow you’re never around. You told me I could be a student here, not a therapist.” As pathetic as it may be you began to cry the built stress of holding back your feelings let loose.
“I need help myself I don’t have time to help others. Please Crowley help me find a way home,” you sobbed. Crowley sighed before clutching you closer to him.
“I'm a generous headmaster I hate to see my students under such stress. Especially beautiful ones that I’m trying to help every day. Crowley pulled your hands away from your face. Here come closer Y/n.” You followed his instructions as he pulled slightly on your arm.
He opened up one of his desk drawers to a file with your name on it. “This is everything I’ve collected on you so far even after using my global resources,” he spoke.”You read through the files while bent over his desk for a better view.
You could see how every lead he got was scratched off. It was hard to read since he had chicken scribble but you got through most of it. Crowley had been trying. But this file just proved one more thing you were never getting home. In a moment of shock you fell back and the tears began to stream again. You were in Crowleys now lap to upset to move. “Sorry Mr. Crowley,” you sniffed. “I can see now that you have been trying.”
“Yes this whole time this situation has been stressful for me as well since you’re quite troublesome on campus,” he joked. You could tell he was trying to lighten the mood. “I guess you have it hard too.” You shifted so that you could look at him not even remembering that you were on his lap.
“Um yeah I guess you could say that,” he coughed. For a second you wondered what he meant by that and then you felt it. His large hard on pressing onto your back. “Oh I should get up,” you yelped.
“No, I don’t mind you staying here. You look too pretty when you cry. And it seems like we could both use a little bit of a stress relief. Look at how tense you are.” He started to massage your shoulders then his hands rolled down to your neck.
You let out a sharp exhale startled by his cold hand on such a sensitive area. He began to grind himself into your now-exposed panties since your skirt was lifted. “I’ll continue only if you want me to Y/n. It’s an honor to make love to someone like me,” he chuckled.
“I’ve never done anything like this Mr. Crowley.” It’s okay I’ll walk you through it there’s no way you won’t enjoy your time with me.” Okay I’ll try then.”
“But are we gonna do it here? What if someone walks in?” They can’t do much to the I'm the headmaster after all.” His hands gripped your ass giving it a firm squeeze. “I don’t know Mister this seems like a bad idea.
“Hey,” you protested. “Just calm down.” His fingers ghosted over your pussy causing you to squirm. “Squirming already I guess you’re nervous. I would be too if I were having sex with me.”
“Shhh just sit and relax.” He put your legs on each side of the chair legs and held your back for support. “Let’s get these useless things off.” He cut off your panties in an instant with his claws.
“Your egos too high,” you spoke. “And your mouth is too smart it would be best if I stuff you quiet.” What huh.” You asked not fully registering what he meant. The leftover fabric of your panties was stuffed in your mouth.
“That’s better.” One of his hands gripped your thigh tighter as the other worked off his golden claws and gloves. You waited watching his every move. His fingers were abnormally long and slender. He also had claw-like fingernails on all but two of his middle fingers. You didn’t think Mr. Crowley would get any pussy he seemed too busy but you were wrong. He knew exactly what to do massaging your clit while teasing your fluttering hole.
Your moans could be heard through your gag. “Feels good huh?” I can tell it does look at how you’ll suck me up.” He inserted his finger then and your heat greedily accepted him.
“See I’m always right!” You ready to take the next one? He questioned inbetween tasting your juices on his finger. You shook your head quickly slightly ashamed at your eagerness. The stretch felt heavenly to the point where you sunk your hips down further on his fingers.
“So needy huh? You needed this Y/n you need me huh?” You shook your head again grinding yourself up and down on his fingers. By now your pussy was so wet it started to make lewd sounds.
They got louder and louder the longer you fucked yourself on his fingers. Crowley sat back admiring the view. Your pussy was on full display since your uniform skirt was lifted. You felt his eyes burning onto you. His gaze wasn’t a judgemental but a loving one.
He realized how much of a slut he just found. He would just have to train you to realize it. But you were quickly breaking out of your box. Your moans were turning into whines. You were close now bouncing on his curved fingers like a fuck rabbit.
Your hands dug into his shoulders landing on his soft feather-filled Shaw. You buried your face in his neck too ashamed to face him. “Most women would get tired by now and want me to fuck them. I guess you young ones have more stamina.”
He was such a talkative asshole you wish that he would shut up. But you couldn’t stop now when you were so close to cumming. You were so close to letting go your juices were dripping down his fingers wetting his dress shirt.
“Such a loud sloppy mess for me. You’re doing so good Let me see how you feel with this.” He stopped all motion leaving you breathless. For a second you were hopeless that he was gonna help you finish. But his hands boosted your thighs up now your pussy was nearing his mouth.
You gasped into your gag you were high up now with no support other than his hair to hold. “Shh calm down I never dropped anyone doing this. Just give in everything will be okay.” He spoke sending vibrations and chills up your already shakey spine. He licked up around your thighs purposefully missing your needy parts. You whined pulling him forward. “Lick here.” You tried to illustrate through your gag.
This was the longest you’ve been edged your entire impatient life. You used your tongue to push your gag out you could’ve taken being bound any longer. “Headmage please I need your mouth. I need to cum or I think I’ll go crazy. Now stop being a fucking tease,” you demanded. “That’s not nice language young lady.” Okay, I’m sorry I’m sorry,” you pleaded.
“Fine, I’ll be kind enough to spare you.” Ahh! You screamed being unexpectedly dropped. You were back on Crowley's lap then you were back on the desk. You spread your legs again and finally after what felt like forever his mouth met your clit.
You wrapped your legs around his head tightly. “You’re not escaping this bit.” No problem I can stay like this for hours,” he murmured. He began to lap up your juices that had pilled up from all his teasing.
“Mmm, that feels good.” Doesn't it baby I heard my head game is superior.” Stop hearing and start focusing,” you instructed. “You’re insufferable,” you sighed. “And you're sweet so sweet,” he explained through slurps.
“Mmm Crowley,” you groaned. “You’re so naughty y/n I feel you twitching on my tongue. Are you about to cum? You must be look at how you’re shaking.” You hadn’t even noticed that how your body was reacting.
“Yes I’m about to cum!” Hmm,” he pondered. “Should I really let you cum? I don’t think this naughty pussy deserves it.” He teased while slapping your clit. You tightened in surprise and sprung up. “Crowley!”
“Fuck please just let me I’ve been waiting so long.” He gave you a reassuring glance latching his mouth to your clit. This time you knew he would allow you to cum. He didn’t let up for a second not even to breathe.
His mask partially lifted but you were too out of it to look at his secret identity. Your vision began to blur so you just shut your eyes as tight as they could go. Crowley didn’t like how your body was pulling away so his arm held your stomach down.
There was no escaping his tounges harsh attack even after you began to cum. He continued prolonging your orgasm. Your toes curled and even the iron grip he had on your waist wasn’t enough to stop you from shaking.
“Fuck I’m gonna! Ahh, I’m gonna squirt if you keep that up,” you warned. “I don’t mind the mess my dear but I do mind your volume.” He explained before pulling you into a smothering kiss.
You let go completely over his lanky fingers. “Headmage!! You screamed into his mouth. His tongue swayed across yours muffling your sound. “Ahh.” You sighed relieved that your edging was over. You were trying to relax your breathing for a moment before you hit Crowley. “What the fuck why are you such a tease?!”
“I have to be and anyways you should be grateful look at how hard you came.” You left my desk all sticky.” Well it’s gonna stay that way,” you chuckled. You slid off his desk pulling your panties back up.
“C’mon don’t leave my little stress reliever. Don’t you want to help your dear Headmage out a little more after I was so kind to you?” He grabbed his buldge and for a second you wanted to go back down on your knees.
But the bell ringing distracted your thoughts. “I need to be a good student like I said earlier. So bye Crowley. You left leaving him a hard insatiable mess.

Filling Empty Spaces (Amy/Mitch), part 226
Mitch and Amy find an unexpected connection due to absent lovers. Set around season 11->.
A/N: I didn’t have a beta for this story, so hopefully there won’t be too many grammar errors.
****
The lull of the truck was a stark contrast to the hurricane inside Mitch's head as he drove away from Leah's place few hours later.
Their parting words at her driveway echoed in his ears as Mitch kept his eyes on the horizon that seemed unattainable. It was hard for him to wrap his mind around what had just happened.
"Don't be a stranger", Leah had said as they had broken off their embrace in front of his truck as they had said their goodbyes.
"I try not to be", Mitch had promised, a gentle smile on his lips. "Take care."
Coming to visit Leah, he had had no idea what he was in for, but everything had gone so much better than he could have ever imagined. It was hard to believe it was all even real.
There had been a point, just few days ago, where Mitch had realized he had not really thought about Leah for a long period of time. It had been strange to think about just how much time had passed in order for that to happen, as he had done nothing but think about her after their break-up back in the day, even after years later, due to the situation they had found themselves in.
Then, just some days ago, he had come up with the idea of reaching out to her, not knowing if she'd ever respond or would even have a neutral response to him.
Now, he was leaving her place with a promise to stay in touch in the future.
It had all happened so fast eventually, and yet, it had taken them for years to get to this point.
Everything - the memories, the speculation, the mixed feelings - had been living inside Mitch's mind for years now, but at this very moment it felt like he was literally moving from the past to the future as his truck was heading back home.
It wasn't all cleared out yet, but this had been a huge first step.
Dwelling in the transition made Mitch overwhelmed, and it started to feel like some type of anxious sensation was working its way out of him, through him, like a fever spell.
After he started feeling his breathing getting more shallow and a familiar tingling of a panic attack rising up to the surface, Mitch pulled up the shoulder of the road and turned off the engine, trying to make sure he wouldn't involuntarily cause an accident.
The blood pounded in his ears which didn't help the sensation of feeling like he was the only man on Earth as there was no other noise than the shortness of his breath and the thudding of his heart on his chest.
With shaking hands, Mitch clutched the steering wheel while it felt like his legs were disappearing as they tingled. He kept closing and opening his eyes repeatedly, hoping the disfigured vision would become normal at some point.
Usually, this type of episode would left him reeling, but now, surprisingly the gasps turned into a relieved laugh.
As if he had been facing a crossroad where he had thought that he was either dying or turning crazy, but instead he had made a 180 and left both of those options behind him.
He wasn't trying to suppress this feeling because there was no use in trying to suffocate it anymore; he had taken the first step and it had gone well. The trigger of this episode was currently being destroyed by a wrecking ball.
Wiping his sweaty forehead, Mitch did his best to calm himself down. When he was able to use his hands again by grabbing the handle of the door, it eventually swung open, letting in fresh air.
Mitch leaned back and closed his eyes, taking a long, slow deep breath. Slowly, but surely, he felt the bile retreating in his throat.
He wasn't sure how long the panic attack had lasted exactly, but for him it had felt like minutes. Usually it could feel longer. Despite that, the aftermath felt the same; his body felt weak now, so there was no use of getting back on the road yet as he didn't want to endanger anyone else - or himself.
Instead, he found his phone from the pocket of his jacket that was spread next to him on the passenger seat and looked up Amy's number.
Mitch knew that Amy was at the rodeo, so she most likely wouldn't answer, but he still wanted to leave her a message. That's what they usually did whenever they wanted to keep in touch when the other one was busy.
It was a nice pick-me-up at the end of the day to hear the other one's voice, telling you about their day.
And just like he had predicted, the phone call went straight to the voicemail.
"Hey, it's me. I hope you're having fun at the rodeo. I don't know when you'll be listening to this message, but I just wanted to let you know I was... thinking about you and felt like reaching out, I guess", Mitch spoke out.
As he was imagining Amy listening to this, he began smiling.
"I'm driving back to Hudson after meeting Leah. It went better than I expected; I'll fill you in later. I appreciate you giving me the support you did so I would be able to do it. Maybe we could meet up tomorrow? Meet at the meadow at dawn, after work? Check out Diablo, while we're at it. I don't know. Let me know. I'd love to hear about your day, too."
His eyes looked around, and Mitch noticed his vision was more clear now. Just thinking about Amy seemed to help him calm down. The feeling of anxiety was replaced with the warm feelings of falling in love.
"Anyway... Uh, yeah. Call me. Or text me, whatever's best for you. Talk to you later. Bye", he finished his message.
Putting the phone away, he sat there for a while, thinking how his natural instinct had been to call Amy. Even though their lives were still very much separate, she had become part of his life in a way he had not expected; even when she wasn't there physically, she was always there in spirit, inspiring him and pushing him on.
Hopefully it would continue to be that way and maybe eventually they could incorporate more time together once Amy was ready to tell about them to the rest of her family.
When Mitch had calmed down, he pulled the door shut and then turned the key in the ignition. After he had steered the truck back on the road, his fingers looked to turn on the radio.
Maybe singing along to his favorite tunes would help him feel even better.
****
After doing his evening chores and checking everything was okay with Maverick and Whisky, Mitch took out his phone from his back pocket, hoping maybe Amy had reached out to him by now.
When there was no call or even a text message, Mitch wondered if maybe she had just been so busy or was too tired to reply.
Still, he checked the bars on the upper corner, making sure if wasn't about having a bad connection.
He didn't want to be too pushy, because he knew that Amy was so busy with so many things, but Mitch still wanted to let her know he was thinking about her, so instead of calling, he figured text was more lowkey approach.
"Hope you got home okay" and a little heart emoji was what he sent out before putting the phone away and getting ready to brush his teeth.
****
The next morning, when Mitch's alarm went off, he reached out to turn it down. The alarm not only reminded him that it was time to wake up, but also that it was a new day.
Maybe Amy had replied as she was usually up this early too, doing chores, and that was usually her "alone time" where she often sent him a "good morning" text.
But when he opened their conversation, Mitch noticed his message from last night had not even gone through.
"Huh..." Mitch hummed and figured he could try turning his phone off and back on to make sure it wasn't his side that was blocking the messages.
Perhaps there was an update that his phone was pushing and that's why it was being annoying.
While his phone was getting back on, Mitch got up and walked to the bathroom, leaving his phone to wait for him on the kitchen table.
After doing his morning washing up, he came back and checked the phone again. According to its status, it should have been working just fine.
When he started to feel a strange feeling at the pit of his stomach, Mitch had to re-evaluate if he was being clingy or if there was cause for concern.
He didn't want to scare Amy away, but at the same time he couldn't deny he cared to know what was going on with her.
The problem with this situation they were in was that they weren't openly together, therefore he couldn't just check from Jack or Lisa, who both lived at Heartland as well, if they had seen Amy and if she was just busy.
Mitch didn't even care about getting a reply, but instead his main concern was to know Amy was okay.
To calm himself down, he tried to go over the situation with the facts that he had.
Yesterday, Amy had attended a rodeo in Calgary with Jade and her girlfriend. She had had a ticket for Georgie as well, but due to their current situation, he was under the impression Georgie was staying at Wyatt's (for now?), so she had probably not joined them.
No, wait, Mitch then recalled.
What had Amy said about that job interview the other day? The guy had texted him, and she had pushed that over to the next day - which had been yesterday.
So, had she done both?
But from what he could recall them talking, Amy had said that she was planning to leave early in the morning to the rodeo. So had the job interview been later in the day then?
If that was the case, it was no wonder she wasn't replying. She must have been exhausted, on top of looking after Lyndy.
Still, Mitch couldn't shake the feeling. He didn't like being in the dark, but he had to keep reminding himself that he needed to be patient.
One of the things he had struggled with in the military had been not knowing what was going to happen and when, but it had been something he could have not changed, so he had just had to adapt.
So maybe he could do it again.
Amy would reply eventually.
He had to trust that.
****
Later that day, when Mitch mounted Maverick for work, he took out his phone from his pocket and made a call to Tim, so his partner would know that he was on his way to meet him as they had plans to check on the cattle.
Tim didn't always check on his text messages, so it was better to call him. Not to mention, Mitch could also test out if his phone was working properly.
Today, it even took him a while to answer his phone, so Tim definitely wouldn't have noticed any text.
"Yes?" the older cowboy's stern voice on the other end asserted.
"Well, hello to you too", Mitch said.
He knew Tim wasn't typically a ray of sunshine, but Mitch still expected people to have good manners when interacting with other people.
Still, he wasn't going to get hung up on it or take it personally, but Mitch did always tried his best to point out when Tim's attitude could use some work, because maybe eventually he would decide to do something about it if he was told about it enough.
"Sorry, it's just been... long 24 hours", Tim sighed, still sounding like he was stressed. "What is it?"
"I was just letting you know I'm on my way. Do we meet at the usual place?" Mitch checked, collecting his reins and slowly giving Maverick a cue to start walking.
"Oh, right..." Tim sighed at the other end. It sounded like whatever weight he had had on his shoulder had suddenly doubled. "Forgot about that. -- Listen, I can't make it today."
"Everything okay...?" Mitch's annoyance was now turning to worry, as he knew Tim had had health scare and a surgery due to it somewhat recently and it was almost starting to sound like maybe this was more about something like that than him just having a bad day.
"Amy's in a hospital, so I'm gonna stick by her side today-- or however long this is going to take", Tim said, his sentence making Mitch heart drop.
"H-hospital...?" he echoed. "What's happened...?"
He was trying to remain calm, even though his whole body was suddenly trembling.
"She was at the rodeo yesterday and hit her head really bad, and they're keeping her in a coma for now. They're still running all kinds of tests and... we don't know how long this will take", Tim summed up. "It's just..." his voice suddenly sounded strained, like he was choking back tears.
Mitch had so many questions, but at the same time he didn't know if it was his place to ask them.
"Anyway. If you could just check on the cattle today on your own. Or maybe ask a friend to join you. We're all a bit tied up here. I don't want to leave her side till we know more", Tim requested.
At first Mitch couldn't understand why Tim was even worrying about the cattle right now, because Amy had gotten seriously hurt and that should have been their main talking point, but he then remembered that Tim actually didn't understand just how personally invested he, too, was.
What Mitch wanted Tim to tell him was more about Amy's situation, but in Tim's mind, it wasn't really something he figured Mitch should be concerned with because he didn't know that he and Amy were together.
Tim only saw Mitch as his business partner.
Right now, Mitch didn't want to ride out and check on the cattle like Tim had requested. What he really wanted to do was rush to the hospital as well, but he wasn't family.
And none of Amy's family even knew he was dating her.
Well, except for Georgie - and Lou.
But time for that kind of announcement wasn't now, he figured. The family had enough to deal with as it was.
"S-sure, absolutely", Mitch replied, trying to keep himself breathing. "I hope Amy's going to be okay", he added, feeling his chest tighten.
"As do we all", Tim agreed. "I'll let you know when-- if something changes. I trust you to run the business on your own for now."
"Of course. Thanks, Tim. Take care of yourself", Mitch said before they ended the call.
Mitch pulled the reins and stopped Maverick. He stared at the phone for what seemed like minutes at first, then looked around him. It was a beautiful summer day and yet everything felt grim.
These last 24 hours had been so surreal and they were getting even stranger.
Yesterday and this morning, he had been anxiously waiting for Amy to return his text, but now he didn't even know if she was going to survive this traumatic accident.
How long it would have taken for him to get the news had he not called Tim now?
If he had thought waiting for a text would drive him crazy, waiting for updates about this was going to be even worse.

I've seen several people say Chrissy Cunningham has horse girl energy, and as a life long, card carrying, currently professionally employed horse girl ...I kinda want to write the AU. Featuring thing such as...
The Cunninghams own a fancy fancy hunter-jumper barn, the kind full of high five to six figure show horses that winter in Florida. Chrissy's mom trains the hunters and equitation riders and her dad does the jumpers.
Chrissy as the Hunter/Big-Eq Princess. Hunters and Equitation are disciplines that have a not entirely undeserved reputation for being toxic af at the upper levels. Both are centered around a kinda subjective ideal of how a horse (hunters) and rider (equitation) should look/move. There are plenty of genuinely good riders in both disciplines, but there’s also a reputation of “the thinnest girl with the longest legs on the most expensive horse” ends up sweeping every class. I’ve heard plenty of horror stories of coaches being straight up verbally and emotionally abusive to their students, a lot of eating disorders, and (especially when male coaches are involved) SA is not unheard of either. So it seems like an environment rife for Chrissy to end up in a similar mental state as she does in canon.
Jason the Jumper. Jumpers are a bit more rough and tumble, focusing less on perfection and style, and more on getting over the biggest jumps as fast as you damn can without knocking down any rails. Agility, power, and speed are the name of the game. Big jock energy. He’s a bit of a reactive prick when he rides though and is too heavy handed with his horses.
Wayne takes a job working as the general handyman on the Cunningham’s farm and Eddie and him move into the cabin on the property. They used to live in Indianapolis but Eddie crossed the wrong people in his drug dealing, so Wayne (who grew up in the country) quit his factory job to move them out to the farm in hopes of helping Eddie start over fresh. They move in during the winter when a lot of the horses are still down in Florida and he fucking hates it. There’s nothing to do, he doesn’t know shit about horses, they’re big and scary, and he has to muck stalls which he thinks sucks.
Spring comes, the show horses and rides who have been gone in Florida come back, and he sees Chrissy for the first time. This itty bitty slip of a thing sailing around on a 17hh horse over three and a half foot jumps like it’s absolute nothing and he is entranced. Suddenly (and Wayne fucking knows) he’s asking to do more chores, spend more time around the barn, just so he can watch Chrissy ride...and in the process realizes Jason’s a dick (both to Chrissy and to his horses) and sees how brutal Chrissy’s mom can be to her during her lessons. He starts to really think this whole horse riding thing in general might be bullshit.
It starts getting hot and Eddie does not know how to cope at first. Chrissy sees him about to die of heat exhaustion with his long ass hair and gives him her scrunchy to put his hair up in a man bun. He keeps it. Also a lot of sweaty Eddie in tank tops with tattoos on full display doing manual labor.
Eddie has a motorcycle cause why not? Hell yeah Chrissy’s gonna ride behind him like a little back pack.
Chrissy’s childhood pony colics (potentially deadly tummy ache for horses) and Eddie stays up with her all night taking turns walking the pony and offering it water, he lets her sleep and spends hours just going up and down the barn aisle with this damn pony.
Eddie turns out to be a natural with horses on the ground once he starts warming up to them. He’s a naturally empathetic and sensitive dude, I could see him picking up on how to read horses’ body language and how to work with them pretty quickly. He’s able to calm down one of Jason’s upset, panicky horses when Jason’s temper is only making things worse, which pisses Jason off to no end.
Chrissy teaches Eddie to ride. He eventually is...sufficiently competent. Maybe one day she gets him his own scruffy ass horse to ride around on the farm with her.  Chrissy starts enjoying riding for riding again without feeling all the pressure from her mom and competing.
Eddie is really really into Chrissy wearing her riding clothes. Tight ass pants for the win.
Eddie helps Chrissy change her discipline over to Jumpers. He sees how stifling the Hunter/Eq world is for Chrissy and encourages her to either quit or try something different. Her mom will flip if Chrissy tries to do something else, so Eddie helps her sneak around to practice for switching to the Jumpers and she eventually goes head to head with Jason.
Chrissy has a nasty fall at a big horse show. Hurt/comfort feelings ensue.
Chrissy starts teaching some beginner lessons. Eddie encourages her since he hasn’t died yet and she taught him, and turns out to be really good at it/enjoys working with the kids and helping them learn to love something she’s so passionate about. It helps her as she’s recovering from her fall.
Eddie’s past catches up with him?

forgotten memoirs
part 3/4 of mourning your reciprocation
a quiet night, you and i, a spontaneous kiss to your cheek, and a cloudy sky. that was how it started.
the grey clouds were threatening to burst into showers of salty raindrops, but you didn’t seem to care, turning your back to me in favour of kicking something that sounded clinking like rocks and bits of concrete. i was a little worried that you felt uncomfortable at the sudden show of affection and debated loitering around a bit longer, but right now, i could feel a humid air in our surroundings, indicating looming rain.
“let’s take cover, quickly.”
i ushered, as my hand navigated to grab your other wrist that wasn’t buried in your pocket. i tried to drag you forward to what i assumed was the dimmed, blue light in a hazy fog that belonged to a convenience store, but when you spun around and faced me, you grounded your feet still, staying stubbornly in place. with frustration that probably adorned a frown on my features, i looked straight in your eyes. your eyes had never been short of hypnotic every time they looked at me because they provided answers that i seek, comforted my soul and communicated volumes even as your pretty lips stilled. they did none of those this time, except reflecting my frustrated face that i could clearly see, strangely so, even in the fog. i ignored the growing ire in my stomach in realisation that maybe i didn’t know you as well as i thought. i lowered my head, suddenly finding interest in your shoelaces. an unsure silence stretched between us until i was no longer able to stand your burning gaze on the back of my head. i muttered weakly:
“we’ll catch a cold.”
your cold hand cupped over the side of my cheek, slightly tilting my face upwards. it was my turn at being stubborn, keeping my head low enough so as to not meet your gaze. i guess i just wanted to sulk a little over the confusion in my heart - i still couldn't wrap my head around your actions. were they green signals for our relationship to bloom into an intimacy as romantic as a red rose, or was it merely my fantasies messing with my consciousness that could no longer differentiate what was real and what wasn't?
“i'm not that fragile, and besides, i'd have you by my side even if i fell sick enough that i couldn't think, right?"
your words rolled off your tongue onto mine a honeyed texture i couldn't get enough of, almost like a drug with stirred questions as its side effects. it wasn't just your words, no, because right after that, you snaked your hand around my head and pressed on its back so i could rest my forehead on your damp shoulder. oh. i was too focused on you that it had started to rain without my notice. the rain be damned if it could stop us from being so close to each other like this. plus, the reassuring way your hand patted my head gently emboldened me, telling me you wouldn't pull me away. so i blurted without thinking:
"please be mine."
too tired for regrets, my eardrums practically blurred out at that moment like a subconscious defense mechanism to block out any rejection that i'd rather die from embarrassment than to hear from you. it seemed like time had stopped, had really frozen each raindrop that rolled down the tips of my twitching fingers and the solidified air between us to frosted ice.
a beat of my heart. a shaky exhale from me, from you or from both of us, i didn't know. but that didn't matter, like how insignificantly heavy the rain was, weightless, in contrast to those words you uttered, thick and dripping with sugary honey, an endearing promise i longed for:
"i'm yours."
i could breathe again.

The Lucky Horseshoes - A Heartland Season 16 AU - Chapter 13
Tumblr media
Chapter 13
Amy sipped her coffee as they gathered around the stack of equipment in the center of the kitchen. “Ok, Lilac for Lyndy’s walls, that light green, Drizzle for the master and the master bath above the wainscoting. The grey, Krypton for the guest bedroom and sunflower for the kitchen walls. Oh the second bath gets that light rose over the wainscoting. Snowflake white for all the trim, doors and wainscot.”
The house was freshly painted matte white so closets and ceilings didn’t need to get done.Let’s start taping, who’s taking what room ?”
The painting crew for the time being was Amy, Lyndy, who insisted on helping, Jack, Lisa, Tim, Jessica, Lou and Katie. It was Katies job to keep Lyndy busy and not causing too much trouble. They had a stack of tarps for the floors, painting tape, rollers, brushes and a stack of paint cans.
“I expected your boyfriend.” Tim announced grabbing two rolls of tape.
“So did I, emergency call to the rodeo, one of the cutters threw a bad shoe. The owner was adamant, Caleb set it up. They’ll be here in a couple of hours and Cass will bring lunch from Maggie’s, the nanny gets to her at noon.”
“Finn is momma’s boyfriend.”
Lou smiled “and how do you know that sweetheart ?”
“They hold hands.”
“Holding hands is important.” Lou said the smile not leaving her face.
“And they kiss.”
“Ok.” Katie cut in with a giggle “you’re helping me today Lyndy bug.”
They all smiled when Lyndy held out her hand which Katie took.
Since Lyndy declared that she wanted to work on her room Katie and she started taping the floor board together and promised not to deal with ladders without an adult to supervise. Amy and Lou would work on the master bedroom, Lisa and Jessica in the master bath and Tim and Jack would work in the kitchen. The priority of the day was taping with painting starting later if there was time.
“What’s the schedule for the rest Amy ?” Lisa asked
“We paint the kitchen and bathrooms first thing this week and the cabinet guys will install their stuff on Friday and place the appliances which are coming Wednesday. The plumbers are coming next Monday to install the wet fixtures. It looks like most of the furniture is coming the week after so figure 3 weeks for the move in give or take.”
“Excited ?”
“It’s a combination of excitement and out and out fear Lou.”
“You’re just down the road Amy.”
“Yeah, that’s what keeps me going.”
“You got home pretty late last night sis.”
Amy smiled as the memories of the day and night before flooded back to her.
She actually gave herself 3 hours to get ready for the evening and started with a long hot mid afternoon shower. Lyndy was out with Jack and Tim for a slow ride out to see, in Lyndy’s case, and check the herd which was the actual reason for the trip.
It was strange being all alone in the house and she laughed as soon as she thought it when there was a knock at her door.
“Amy it’s Lisa, can I come in ?”
“If you don’t laugh.”
“What would I laugh at ?” She answered walking though the door. “Ok, maybe a little laugh, look at you !”
Amy smiled. She was laying in the center of the bed in a robe with her hair up in a towel having just finished polishing her nails and waiting for them to dry. Her fingers were splayed open on the bed beside her, her toes separated by cotton balls.
“That’s a nice color, it’ll go well with your dress.”
“Light coral, I like it. I should have gone in for a manicure and had tips but time ran away and they would never last.”
“He won’t be looking at your nails Amy, can I help ?”
“I don’t mind the company Lisa.”
“Then I’ll stay, tea ?”
“Tea would be great and these are dry, guess I’ll start on my hair.”
“I’ll be back in a few minutes, anyone else coming ?”
“Cass is coming by in about an hour to hang, she’s leaving her BMW for the date.”
“I was going to ask if you wanted the Porsche, just had it detailed.”
“Hmmm, Beamer or Porsche, what’s a girl to do ?”
Lisa smiled “let me get the tea.”
After leaving Amy her tea Lisa took her place on the bed leaning against the headboard with her feet up while Amy brushed out her hair.
“Nervous ?”
Amy turned to answer “off the wall butterflies, I never felt like this with Ty, at least I don’t remember it.”
“I remember your prom dance, you were pretty antsy.”
“I don’t think that was this Lisa, I mean this is bordering on nausea.”
“Sip your tea Amy, it’ll calm you down, it’s chamomile. You do realize this is all different. I don’t know how to say it buy you and Ty got stretched out into one long soap opera and had he not had a relationship with Heartland, I just don’t know.”
Amy sighed and nodded, took a sip and a deep breath and went back to brushing before reaching to plug in her curling iron. She sprayed the edges of her hair as the iron heated.
“One of the things I’ve thought about since, I don’t know. Anyway, not the time to think about it. Lisa could you pull out my dress and fluff it out, you can hang it on that hook.”
“What about make-up, think you’ll be able to handle that on your own ?”
“It’s embarrassing but my hands are shaking, Cass volunteered to do it for me.”
“She’s a good friend.”
Amy smiled and started curing her hair “she’s enjoying this.”
“She’s not alone.” Lisa answered smiling when the knock came. “That’s probably Cass, I’ll get her.”
Amy was surprised hearing two other voices and then realized that one was Jessica’s who had apparently shown up together with Cass.
They both came in a couple minutes later each carrying a cup of coffee. Lisa followed them in a few minutes later.
“Jess, I didn’t expect to see you today.”
“I’m leaving right away, my meeting’s at 6 but I wanted to be here for the gift.”
“What gift ?”
“The gift Jess and I had made for you.”
“What gift Lisa ?”
“This gift Amy, for you from both of us.” Jess said handing her a small wrapped box.
Amy smiled and looked at the box.
“Well, open it.” Cass said from her spot on the bed.
The box was wrapped in blue paper and tied with a matching blue bow which Amy pulled and set aside before unwrapping the box which when opened contained two smaller boxes, one a long and flat rectangle and one square.
“You two should not have done this.” Amy said before opening either.
“Of course we should have”, Jessica said  “who else do we have to give it to ?”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“Open the boxes Amy.” Cass said for a second time.
“Oh my.” Amy exclaimed when she opened the larger rectangular box “this is too much, is that a sapphire ? A Diamond clasp ?”
“Shhhh, calm down Amy”, Lisa said “my grandmother gave me that pendant when I went to college and the earrings in the smaller square box, well some of them and Jess had the pearls so we had a jeweler in Calgary work their magic and there you are.”
“The pearls are from my grandmother’s estate, they’re called Golden Biwa, she bought them years ago in Hawaii.” Jessica added.
The necklace was a double strand of pearls with a diamond and sapphire pendant hanging from the center, the earrings, sapphire studs with a cluster of four Biwa pearls that hung from each. Both Amy and Cass thought they were beautiful.
“They’re on the Fairfield insurance policy and my agent said that as my granddaughter you’re covered so don’t worry of that account.”
“I’m not worried Lisa, it’s just …….”
“Please Amy.” Jessica said “This is no way to accept a gift from your step mom and grandmother.”
Lisa was closer and Amy stood and wrapped her arms around her and then Jessica telling each that she loved them and thanking them.
“Really glad we haven’t got to your make-up yet.” Cass said laughing.
“Oh Cass, I forgot, we can take Lisa’s Porsche which will make it much easier in the morning. You can just meet us at the center and we won’t have to swap.”
“Fine with me, I would have had to come pretty early, Caleb has to be at the rodeo grounds at like 7:00.”
“I haven’t told Finn, I’m sure driving either will thrill him.”
“Give me a kiss Amy, I have to get out of here.”
Amy got up and kissed Jess staying for a brief hug.
“Thank you so much for everything Jess.”
“Please let Lisa take a picture.”
“I promise.”
“I’ll walk you out Jess, I have to start dinner. I’ll be around if you two need me.” Lisa said leaving the room right behind Jessica.
“We have time but which first make-up or dress ?”
“Does it matter ? Let’s do make-up first and we’ll be careful.”
Amy walked over and scooted up onto the bed alongside Cass who had kicked off her boots and was up against the headboard.
“So, just a few weeks until the move, you doing Ok ?”
“I’m good, I mean it’ll be different but I’m looking forward to a new experience and Lyndy’s off the wall excited.”
“Well, I’m happy for you, I think it’s a good step getting away even if it is just down the road.”
“It’s not an escape Cass.”
“I didn’t mean it was, just new.”
Amy smiled and reached over to take Cass’s hand, “glad you’re on my side.”
“Everyone’s on your side Amy.”
They both stopped and smiled when they heard the door and heard Lyndy call out “Home momma !!” a second before she ran into the room.
“Hi Auntie Cass !!” She announced before Cass stopped her from climbing onto the bed.
“Hello sweetheart but you need to get washed up before climbing onto mommy’s clean bed.”
“Cass is right Lyndy, go on wash up good and then hugs.” Amy added with a smile.
“Make-up after hugs ?”
“Works for me, thanks for this Cass.”
“With you all the way kid.”
A few minutes later, with Lyndy perched on the bed watching, Cass sat across from Amy and applied a light foundation with a brush before starting on her eyes. Amy didn’t go in for much make-up and Cass commented that with her natural glow not much was necessary. The last touch was Amy’s lips which took a matching light coral before she turned to the mirror.
“Thanks Cass, it’s perfect.”
“Ok, get your lingerie settled and I’ll be back in a few minutes to help with the dress. Can I refill your cup Amy ?”
“Some water would be great Cass, Lyndy, feel like a snack ?”
Lyndy nodded yes and Cass put out her hand leading her from the room while Amy reached for the box that contained her new undergarments.
Cass returned a few minutes later with Lyndy who climbed back up on the bed with her small s plate of apple slices and Lisa who was going to help get the dress set.
Amy giggled as they lifted it over her head and carefully shielded her face so not to upset the make-up or her hair. Cass stepped back while Lisa zipped it up and attached the small clasp at the top. A moment later Amy turned to the floor length mirror and smoothed it down.
“You’re beautiful momma.”
“Thank you sweetheart, think Finn will like it ?”
Lyndy smiled and nodded as did Cass and Lisa.
“It’s perfect for you Amy.” Cass said.
“Absolutely.” Lisa agreed. “It really sets off your features. Get the earrings on honey, it’s almost time.”
Amy sat down and got her earrings on and waited while Lisa attached her necklace. Once done Amy slipped on he shoes she’d been practicing wearing for the past week while home she stood and looked at herself in the mirror.
“What do you think ?”
Cass smiled “Hell, I’d date you in that get up Amy, it’s beautiful.”
“Lisa ?”
“I’ve got nothing to add to that Amy, you’re positively glowing.”
“Lyndy, what do you think ?”
Lyndy smiled and gave her a thumbs up.
“Guess that’s it, who’s out there ?” Amy said grabbing her clutch which she had filled with some tissues, touch up makeup and sliding her phone into the hidden pocket on the back.
“Jack and Tim are on the porch.” Lisa said “Shall we ?”
“Might as well.”
“Any advice Cass ?”
“Just keep breathing Amy, everything else will come naturally.” She answered helping Lyndy from the bed who naturally reached up for Cass’ hand when she was down.
Lisa led the way through the house and opened the porch door for Amy and the rest to follow. She was surprised to see Lou and Katie on the porch as well.
“Lou ?”
“I know, I got cover for me and Katie so we could see. You look beautiful Amy.” Katie was glowing looking at her and nodding.
Smiling ear to ear Amy turned to Tim and Jack.
“I don’t know what to say Amy, Lou’s right beautiful covers it.” Jack said.
“Beautiful really doesn’t Amy.” Tim said getting up and looking her up and down. “You look so much like Marion.”
“She does, doesn’t she.” Jack agreed.
“Ok, Amy first picture for Jess and then one of you together when he gets here.”
“Lisa, it’s not prom.” Amy said laughing before she posed.
Nobody thought Amy’s smile could get brighter until Finn’s truck pulled through the gate and down the road to the ranch house.
He stopped when he got out of the truck and then reached in for a large bouquet of a dozen red roses before straightening up and turning to the porch.
She stood waiting at the top of the stairs and immediately notice that he was freshly shaved and had gotten a haircut. His suit was dark blue covering a crisp white shirt and a silk blue and red tie. The only hint of cowboy was his highly polished black boots. His eyes were bright and piercing as he took her in, his smile as bright as hers.
He glanced at the crown on the porch for a second while climbing the stairs and stopped when he reached her, leaned forward and gently touched his lips to hers.
“You’re beautiful Amy .”
“Not too shabby yourself.” She said.
“For you.”
“Thank you so much, they look and smell wonderful.” Amy said taking the flowers and holding them close.
“Let me take those for you Amy, I’ll put them in your room.” Lisa said.
“One second Lisa.” Amy added stopping her and reaching over to the bouquet to break off one of the buds that she put through Finn’s lapel. A second later she unlined on the the safety pins she had secreted in her bag and maneuvered it around to hold the flower in place. “There, now I can appreciate your gift all night.”
“We ready ?”
“Wait prom pic !!” Lisa said which made both Amy and Finn laugh and turn to pose.
After both men stood and shook Finn’s hand where Tim added “don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
In response Jack pointed at him “definitely words to live by.” Which made everyone laugh.
“You two have fun tonight.” He added with a smile at Amy who took a moment to lean over to kiss Cass and then Lyndy.
“Thank you Grandpa, Finn ?”
Lisa took that moment to palm her keys to Amy who took Finn’s crooked arm while she went down the stairs. Once down and walking to the vehicles she revered her arms and led him to the Porsche dangling the keys beforef him.
He smiled again taking them and turned to the porch to spot Lisa and mouth “Thank you.”
As he backed out and turned the Porsche toward the gate they saw Amy wave as they pulled away.
“Anyone remember the last time she looked that happy ?” Cass said from where she was standing with Lyndy.
“It’s been a while coming.” Jack muttered quietly.

Mod’s Crush Competition Round 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shun Kurosaki (Yugioh Arc-V)
I promised you all a fic, didn’t I?
A couple notes about it.
First, it’s a fic with my self insert. You’ll see the name Ravyn (that’s me!). She’s pretty generic.
Second, I wrote this in eighth grade. There is unnecessary conflict. I like angst and I think this was my attempt.
Third, there is no title. I'm bad at coming up with titles, especially for fanfiction
Unrelated note: The new Raidraptor support is banging. It’s so cool.
The Shun fans have been strong so far but the threats keep getting bigger
Karma Akabane (Assassination Classroom)
Psychopath (affectionate)
Surprising physical prowess
I absolutely love him in Koro-Sensei Quest. He's so small and menacing.

Hudson Hawk: Your Eye on Hudson
A BLOG
Bad Business in Hudson
If you've been following the local news lately — and it's hard not to — you'll be very aware of all the sinister events that have unfolded in our fair town over the past few weeks. Thanks to the dogged efforts of the Hudson Police and that of the neighbouring Calgary Metro Police, however, it looks like justice will prevail in the sordid murder and murder-for-hire cases that have come to light.
To recap: Mrs. Valerie Stanton of Briar Ridge Stables was shot to death while horseback riding up at Lookout Point. Also targeted for death was one Lisa Stillman of Fairfield Stables. One detail that came to light was that the horse Stanton was riding at the time of her death belonged to Stillman. This raised a troubling question: was Stillman the intended target with Stanton being the unfortunate victim of mistaken identity, or was it all a terrible hunting accident?
Nothing could have been further from the truth, as the culprits turned out to be much closer to home; their reasons much more disturbing. Facing various and sundry criminal charges are: Tanner Gunn, Theresa Haywood, Stanley Belmont, Jesse Stanton, and William Ulrich.
I know what you're probably wondering: Is Jesse Stanton related to Valerie Stanton? The answer is a resounding "Yes". He's the son of the same late Valerie Stanton, and Briar Ridge heir. He's been charged with soliciting a killer-for-hire to murder his mother. His reasons for so doing will probably come to light in the upcoming trial, or not. Whatever his reasons, what makes things all the more troubling is he decided to try to kill Lisa Stillman when the insurance payout for his mother's policy was held up due to the police investigation into her death.
Adam paused as he tried to summarize the facts of the case as he knew them. He stared at his laptop screen, wondering now if he had the right to be typing this story in his blog at all. After all, he knew the people involved. By now Georgie must have told the family at Heartland Ranch the Hudson Hawk was his chosen sobriquet.
An unconscious frown tugged at Adam's mouth. His conscience was nagging him. It had been easier when he could hide behind the anonymity of a screen name; he could pretend there was some distance between himself and the subject of his blog posts. Now...
So while he had the blessing of his parents to continue this blogging endeavour, Adam closed the file without saving it. Instead, he decided to check with Alberta Fish and Wildlife to see if they had anything new to report about the elusive bear that had been implicated in the attack on Herring and the man whose body he and Georgie discovered at the Dude Ranch. Doubtless when it was eventually found, it would be destroyed. Such would be the fate of any wild animal that targeted humans instead of other wild animals.

Somewhere on Highway 2, Due North.
"I'm glad she's finally feeling up to having visitors," Rachel said as Lou navigated the SUV to the hospital.
Lou glanced at her, then chanced a peek back at Ben, who was staring out the window at the passing scenery, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.
"It was driving me crazy having to wait," Rachel continued. "I still can't wrap my mind around everything that's happened. It's like some bizarre dream I'm waking up from. Well, nightmare is more like it. Thank God it's over."
"I can't believe everything that's happened, either," Lou quipped, thinking back to the night Amy shot Jesse, and how Chief Parker had been able to tell the rest of the family Lisa was alive.
Rachel's joy at learning her only sister had indeed survived the attempts on her life was tempered by the fact she had been led to believe the opposite.
"I thought I was coming out here to say 'goodbye' to her," Rachel commented, her voice just above a whisper. "I thought I was never going to see her again. And I know I shouldn't be upset the police couldn't tell us the truth right away—to protect her and all that—but I wish..."
"But it's gonna be okay now," Lou said reassuringly, filling in the silence when Rachel did not verbalize the rest of her train of thought. "She'll be so happy to see you two."
The rest of the family had elected to stay back at Heartland for the time being so as not to overwhelm the recovering patient. It was expected Lisa would be discharged within the week, anyway, and Georgie and Katie were already excitedly making plans for a 'Welcome Home' party of sorts, and the imminent arrival of Aunt Evelyn.
From his position in the backseat, Ben quietly spoke up: "I keep going over in my mind the time I spent at Briar Ridge. I remember being jealous of Jesse Stanton at the time because of all the 'toys' he had. He seemed to have anything and everything he wanted. I remember thinking how much I'd love to have a Ducati like his, and how my parents' splitting up meant I might be able to guilt one or both of them into getting me one. Then I thought, hey, maybe my rich aunt could. What she did buy was jumps for Red so I could practice at Heartland. It took me days to finally thank her. Days. What a shallow, ungrateful idiot I was.
"To think... to think Jesse was riding that same damned bike when he shot my aunt..."
"For what it's worth, Ben," Rachel eventually uttered with a smirk, "There's no way I would have been giving you a Ducati back then, no matter how guilty I felt about the divorce, and neither would your Aunt Lisa."

South Calgary Health Campus
Lou tapped her knuckles lightly on the door to Lisa's room.
"Yeah, come on in," Jack called from within.
Upon hearing this response, Lou let Ben and Rachel go ahead of her. Despite expecting this visit from her family, Lisa felt a lump forming in her throat at the sight of her sister and nephew, and instant tears flooded her eyes. Rachel crossed the floor quickly to her sister. Lisa readily received the gentle but fervent hug that lasted several seconds.
"Hey, Rachel," Lisa uttered. "Thanks for coming. I'm so glad to see you."
"I thought I'd lost you," Rachel murmured, voice choked with emotion as her eyes brimmed.
"I know," Lisa responded as Rachel released her. "I'm sorry. You know I never wanted to put you—any of you—through that. But the decision to keep you in the dark wasn't mine. I never wanted to cause you any grief—"
"We're just glad you're going to be okay, Aunt Lisa," Ben put in hurriedly, also approaching Lisa for a hug of his own.
"Ben," Lisa said warmly while accepting his embrace, "it's so good to see you."
"Ben's right," Rachel said. "All that matters is you're going to be okay. The people who did this to you are in custody and you're still with us. That's what's important. Oh, my goodness, let me look at you..."
Rachel spent a few moments taking in the bandage that still graced the left side of Lisa's forehead, and then noticed the sling on her arm. What she could not see beneath the hospital gown were the sutures sealing the incision where the chest tube had been inserted, and the additional bandage covering the patched-up bullet wound.
Shaking her head, Rachel said, "I'm so glad you're alive, sis. You look like you've been through hell and back."
"I feel like it, too," Lisa uttered wryly.
Jack rubbed her forearm in a comforting manner at this comment. He could not abide thinking she was in any discomfort.
"Rachel, I'd like you to meet Jack," Lisa said, motioning towards her husband.
"Jack," Rachel said with a wide smile, moving to hug the man her sister married. "At long last, we meet in person. I'm sorry it took something like this to bring us out here."
"Good to finally see you in person, too, Rachel," Jack said heartily, holding her tightly for a few moments before releasing her.
"Hi, Jack," Ben said, reaching over to shake the older man's hand. "It's been a while."
"Yes it has!" Jack rejoined, grasping his step-nephew's hand. "It's good to see you again, man."
"Jack... I want to thank you for being there for my sister when that monster tried to... you know..." Rachel trailed off. "You saved her life."
"Yes, Jack," Lisa said, sending a broad smile in his direction. "My hero..."
Jack did not wish to think about or speak any more of the night he found hitman Earl McCann trying to suffocate Lisa, so he quickly shifted the conversation to a more mundane topic.
"Well, I guess Aunt Evelyn should be getting in soon?" he asked, doing his best to sound upbeat about it.
"Yes, Grandpa," answered Lou, also sensing his discomfort about the former subject. "Her flight gets in tomorrow night."
"Oh, Aunt Evelyn," Lisa groaned, closing her eyes. "She'll never forgive me for putting her through all this!"
"Of course she will," Rachel rebutted. "I talked to her yesterday. Lisa, all she cares about is that you're alive and safe. You said it yourself: the decision to keep what was going on confidential wasn't in your hands. You were at death's door at the time, for heaven's sake! Nobody's blaming you."
At this, Lisa nodded. "Thanks, Rach. I needed to hear that."
"Anytime," Rachel said. "Someone's got to knock some sense into you."
"Right," Lisa said. "And thank you for not making cracks about my 'hard head'."
"Oh, rats! That was going to be my next joke," said Rachel, feigning disappointment.
"Well, I, for one, am glad for your 'hard head', Lis," Jack said with a small smile. He traced a thumb near the bandage below her hairline, once again so grateful the weapon Jesse had used was not as deadly as he intended it to be.

A Couple Days Later
Heartland Ranch
"They're here!" Katie cried excitedly, rushing from the porch into the house upon seeing Jack and Lisa pulling up into the yard.
"We're home, Lis," Jack said, putting the truck in park.
"Hmm," Lisa murmured, slowly peeling open her eyes. She had not intended to fall asleep during the drive home, but too many nights of poor sleep in the hospital meant her body craved rest. Jack's steady driving and the purr of the truck's engine proved to be a fairly good natural sedative.
"Wow, how long was I out?" she asked.
"About half an hour," Jack chuckled. "I didn't realise my company was that boring."
"Oh, you," Lisa said, realising he was jesting. Now that she was coming to full awareness after her brief nap, she finally noticed the yard was not quite as empty as it normally was. "Um, Jack... What's with all the cars and trucks..?"
"You have a lot of people who wanted to welcome you home, Lis," Jack explained. "Come on. Let's get you inside."
Jack opened the door on Lisa's side and carefully eased her down. "Slow and steady, now," he advised, gingerly supporting her on the way to the house.
Though she was feeling miles better than when she first woke in the hospital, Lisa allowed Jack this expression of care for her well-being. After all, she knew first-hand how challenging it could be when the person you loved most was resistant to help of any sort.
Almost as soon as she entered the house, Lisa was met by Evelyn.
"Darling," the older woman uttered, taking her niece's face in her hands before hugging her tenderly. "I'm so relieved you weren't taken from us like that... When Jack called me... oh, I thought my heart wouldn't be able to endure it. But you're here. It's a miracle."
"I'm so sorry I had to put you through that, Auntie," Lisa said sincerely.
"Nonsense," Evelyn stated flatly. "Lou and Rachel explained everything. The police did what they had to do to keep you safe and to flush out the guilty parties."
"Then I'm so glad you understand," said Lisa with relief.
"Jack, don't be a stranger," Evelyn chided, at last noticing him. "Come here. I want to kiss the man who saved my niece's life."
"Hello, Evelyn," Jack said, allowing her to give him a peck on the cheek.
Evelyn leaned in to Lisa. "Doesn't he ever shave, darling?" she asked in a low voice, though Jack managed to hear, anyway.
"Only when the mood strikes him," Lisa answered with a chortle, patting Jack's face playfully. "But I love him, anyway."
"Yes," Evelyn said seriously. "And he loves you. And that's really all that matters, isn't it?"
Tim approached just then. "Everybody's waiting in the living room," he announced, somewhat impatiently, then amended his tone. "Is Lisa okay?"
"I'm fine, Tim," Lisa replied. "I just didn't expect something like this when I got home."
"Let's go," Evelyn said perkily. "Can't keep your well-wishers waiting."
Lisa sank into the middle of the couch, deeply touched by the gathering of dear family and friends that afternoon. She was further impressed by the efforts Katie and Georgie put in to decorating the space to enhance the celebratory mood of her return home.
"Do you like what we did, Lisa?" asked Katie with expectant enthusiasm, grinning widely. Georgie stood by, also waiting to hear what Lisa would say.
"It's beautiful, both of you," Lisa responded, taking in the large 'WELCOME HOME, LISA' banner, streamers, balloons, and cheery tea lights. "This was so very thoughtful of you. So special."
Heartened by this praise, Katie zipped over to where Peter stood with Lou and happily told them that Lisa loved her handiwork.
Everyone took time to express to Lisa their happiness that she was going to be okay after her brushes with death. But there were two people in particular Lisa knew she was more than obliged to see and to publicly commend.
"Ty; Scott," Lisa spoke up, grabbing the attention of everyone. The two veterinarians looked uncomfortable under the sudden scrutiny of the others.
"I wouldn't be here if it weren't for your quick actions that day out on the road," said Lisa. "I don't remember any of it, but I'm eternally grateful you stopped and helped."
"Of course, Lisa," Ty said.
"We would have stopped for anyone in distress, Lisa," Scott added. "It just so happened we knew you."
Neither man was able to say anything further, as memories of that incident were still difficult and disturbing.
"We're just glad you made it, Lisa," Ty said.
"Right," Scott said in agreement.
"Thank you, both of you," Lisa said, once again fighting back tears.
An hour or so slipped by. Lisa could feel her energy starting to wane; friends such as Caleb, Jen, Mitch, and Scott made their departure. At length, only the family remained in the living room.
Before it got to be too late, and before Lou lost her nerve, there was something she had to get off her chest. "I know we don't always see eye-to-eye, Lisa," Lou said tentatively, "but the truth is you're very special to me, and to all of us here. It felt like losing my Grandma Lyndy and my mother all over again when we thought the worst had happened to you..."
Lou suddenly could not continue.
"I felt the same way, Lisa," Amy put in. "After my miscarriage, and after everything you shared with me, I was devastated at the prospect I was facing another personal loss... but you're here, and I'm so glad."
"And I..." Georgie started, but was unsure if she could continue. She looked to her mother, who nodded some encouragement. "I didn't know what to think of you when I first met you, Lisa. I thought you were some rich snob who was going to take Jack's time and attention away from me—"
"Oh, Georgie, honey..." Lisa murmured.
"I never got to say I was sorry for that," Georgie went on in a rush. "And Lisa, I'm sorry for all the mean things I said about you. I'm so sorry. I-I never knew my grandparents or my great-grandparents, for that matter, but you've been everything I could have ever wanted in a great-grandmother, and more."
"Thank you for that," Lisa said, eyes misting, looking at the family that had been grafted onto her heart. "Thank you all. And I want you to know I feel the same way. You know, I had a full life before I met Jack. A life I thought I loved. I thought I was living my dream life. But I look back now and see I didn't realise how sad and empty my heart was. I love you all very much. My life and my heart are full now."
***
Later that Evening
Dinnertime was over. Jack helped settle an exhausted Lisa into bed where she dropped off to sleep in minutes. It was early still, and after all the social activity of the day, Jack decided he needed to clear his head for a bit, so he brewed a cup of tea and escaped to the porch.
He had been there only a few minutes when he heard the sure creak of the door. Someone was coming outside and he turned expectantly to see who it was.
"There you are," Rachel said to Jack, softly closing the screen door while exiting the house.
"Hi, there," Jack said amiably from his position on the porch bench. "Have a seat."
"Thank you," Rachel said, and joined him. A few seconds later, she added: "It's every bit as lovely here as Lisa and Ben described, Jack."
Jack merely nodded.
"We haven't had a chance to really talk yet," said Rachel.
"No, we haven't," Jack said in agreement, though he wondered what Rachel might want to talk about.
"It's years too late, but I want to thank you for offering to put Ben up when I was going through my divorce," Rachel said. "At first, I wasn't thrilled with the idea when Lisa told me that 'plans had changed'; that he wasn't going to be at Fairfield; that he was going to be boarding at some place called 'Heartland'. But after Ben got over his own issues, he admitted he actually didn't mind this place so much, and he was sorry he didn't appreciate it enough at the time."
Jack nodded again, thinking back to how sullen Ben had been in those days. "Divorce is never easy on anyone, especially when there's kids in the mix," he said, remembering some of the ways Lou and Amy struggled to cope in the wake of Tim and Marion's divorce.
"I love my sister to bits, Jack," Rachel said. "She's my big sister, you know? I idolized her growing up. I was relieved she would be the one to take over the family business because I sure didn't want to be responsible for it. She seemed to be happy when she married Dan and moved to the U.S., but we both know how that all turned out. That time in her life changed her, Jack, and not for the better. I wish only happiness and love for her, and I'm so glad you're in her life, because it's clear you're the one who can provide those things for her."
"Well, I'm glad she's in my life, too," Jack admitted, though that hardly covered the length and the breadth and the height of things when it came to expressing how he felt about his wife.
"I don't know what fair wind blew you two together," Rachel said, "but I pray you two stick together."
"That's the plan," Jack said, thinking back to that evening at the Open House when he first laid eyes on Lisa Stillman. Never in a million years would he have guessed what the future would bring him after that chance encounter.
"You wouldn't happen to have a brother who's just like you out there somewhere, eh, Jack?" Rachel said with a laugh.
"No, no. Just me," Jack responded with a smile and a quick laugh of his own. "I think they broke the mold when they made me."
Rachel looked over at him, seeing his features in the light streaming from the kitchen window. "I think you're right about that, Jack. My sister is a very lucky woman."
"I think I am the lucky one," Jack said with sincerity. How many people get a second chance at love in their lives?
"Yeah..." Rachel said. "Well, goodnight, Jack. Thanks for loving my sister the way you do. You've saved her life in more ways than you'll ever know."
The younger Stillman sister leaned over and gave Jack a kiss on the cheek.
"Goodnight, Rachel," Jack replied.

Filling Empty Spaces (Amy/Mitch), part 225
Mitch and Amy find an unexpected connection due to absent lovers. Set around season 11->.
A/N: I didn’t have a beta for this story, so hopefully there won’t be too many grammar errors.
****
After the group at the rodeo had gotten themselves stuffed with burgers, pizzas and sandwiches, they continued to explore the area outside the arena.
As soon as Jade spotted a mechanical bull on one of the corners with people queuing up to it, she shot a challenging glance at Trace and stopped him by stepping on his way.
"The one who lasts longer on that thing will win 10 bucks", she dared him, nodding toward the bull.
Trace's eyes looked up what she was showing him and when he saw the bull, he shook his head. "I don't know... I feel like the pickle pizza I ate might come up if I do."
"That sounds like an excuse", Jade huffed. "Are you afraid I'm going to kick your butt?"
Amy followed the conversation with curiousity. Watching the two interact, she was witnessing the way Trace responded to Jade's competitive side. Amy had always been under the impression that the kids who entered rodeo school were all made from a similar cloth: they were always up for a challenge.
To her surprise, it seemed like maybe Trace wasn't as big of a daredevil as Jade was as he seemed to weight the outcomes of his options; they had just eaten, so it wasn't that much of a reach that riding a bull might actually make him throw up.
He also wasn't willing to go along with the peer pressure.
If she looked this from a possible future-employer perspective, Amy was satisfied to witness that based on this, Trace seemed practical.
"No", Trace said, trying not to get annoyed with the way Jade tried to push his buttons. "I just know I don't want to spend the rest of my day in a dirty button-up... Or pay that guy a fee of him having to clean up a mess. That'll for sure be more than 10 bucks."
"Fine. Whatever", Jade scoffed and rolled her eyes. "But I'm gonna give it a try and show them all how it's done. Come on, Sloane", she tugged her girlfriend's hand and lead the way, placing herself at the end of the line.
Trace's eyes stayed on her, and Amy followed the gaze from Jade to Trace.
"Is this how it always is with you two?" she asked.
Trace turned to look at her. "What do you mean?"
"Are you always daring each other to do this kind of stuff? Is that the foundation of your relationship?" she fined down her question.
Trace's eyebrow quivered a little bit, but then he looked after Jade again.
"I guess. I mean... we haven't really hung out outside the rodeo school, so I can't say for sure how our... relationship is", he said and shrugged. "But Jade's like that with everyone. I don't know if she feels like she needs to prove herself, or something."
Amy nodded. "Probably. There's not many women in the rodeo scene, and she's one of the first big names to come out of Hudson."
"I get that", Trace said. "So... Tim Fleming's your dad; how's that been? Are you into the rodeo scene?" he changed the subject, sounding more relaxed now that he was more closer to his element.
Amy slowly walked toward the bouncy pen around the bull, adjusting Lyndy's weight on her arm as the little girl leaned on her and looked around curiously. Trace followed beside them.
"Oh, uh..." Amy began, wondering what to say. "I mean, it's been part of my life ever since I was a kid. My grandpa was a rodeo cowboy, my dad was a rodeo cowboy..." she listed. "But I don't know that I'd say I'm a rodeo cowgirl, definitely not the way Jade is. I'm familiar with it, but... not actively participating. Of course if I have a client horse that's a rodeo horse, I'll help as much as I can, but thankfully I have the support system very close to me if I do need help myself."
"So you've never ridden bronc?" Trace guessed based on what Amy was saying.
Amy let out a laugh. "No, thanks. I'm not looking into breaking my neck. I have a high appreciation to everyone who dares to try, it's just... not for me."
"Yeah, it's not for everyone", Trace agreed just as they got closer to the pen and watched the guy before Jade getting thrown off from the bull in the matter of seconds.
When it came Jade's turn, she went into it like a pro. Sloane joined the rest of them as they watched Jade jump up and bring her leg over the saddle, getting a feel of the liveless bull under her.
"This is so cool!" Sloane commented already. "I've only ever seen this on TV."
"She'll be good at this", Amy already guessed.
Sloane's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Oh, I bet."
Jade steadied herself and grabbed the rope palm up with her left hand as she had adjusted her position. When she gave the operator a nod, confirming she was ready, the bull slowly started moving under her.
It was nothing compared to the violent way animals often moved under her, so it really seemed like a walk in the park for Jade. Still, she was just as focused on it, wanting to show off as her confidence was through the roof.
When the bull's head moved down, Jade leaned back and pulled her legs forward, and when the bull's head rose, Jade dug her heels into its sides, pointing her toes outward. Her upper body was relaxed and she swayed along the bull's motions, keeping her eyes on the beast's head.
"Is the hand up for balance?" Sloane checked watching Jade ride.
"Yeah. It's better to keep it L shaped instead of just holding it straight out or up in the air", Trace knew. "It's also her dominant hand, so if she loses her balance, it's her best option to break the fall."
"Mommy, I want that", Lyndy said, making them all laugh.
"We'll see about that in few years..." Amy soothed her, hoping she would never have to actually imagine the fear of a parent whose child wanted to give rodeo a try...
Maybe by the time Lyndy was old enough for something like this, she already had other interests.
Meanwhile, moving in seesaw motion, Jade kept riding on as the machine picked up the pace and made few turns, then trying to lose her by spinning in circles. When the bull turned left, Jade leaned on the opposite direction, and when the bull went right, she did the same.
At first, the people in the line were impressed by Jade's ability to stay on, but the longer she kept going, they became bored as they, too, wanted to have their turn.
Eventually, Jade felt her legs get tired from all the squeezing, so she allowed herself to be thrown off.
This was longer than she usually stayed on a bull or a horse, anyway, so she felt like she had made her point already.
"And that's how you do it", Jade returned to them, holding her arms up like a champion after putting her cowboy hat back on.
Amy could see similar mannerism in her that she so often saw in her own dad, and it was easy to understand why Tim had taken Jade under his wing all those years ago.
"You were amazing!" Sloane sighed, welcoming her hero back.
"Thanks! -- See? I didn't throw up", Jade was sure to point out to Trace.
"I don't know if it would have been the seesaw or if it was the pizza itself that would have done it for me..." Trace wanted to correct.
"That's your own fault for picking something like pickle pizza. Who eats a pickle pizza?! I didn't know they even make that kind of stuff", Jade muttered.
"Okay, I think it's time to head for the arena", Amy then checked the time while also trying to cut the clash of the egos short. "We'll be able to see the show before the halftime performance with Asher and Helico."
She then dug out their tickets from the diaper bag side pocket.
"Here, take your tickets."
The sheets of paper quickly disappeared from her hand when Jade, Trace and Sloane all grabbed one of them and checked where their seats were.
"Front row seats?!" Jade exclaimed.
Amy smiled. "There's some perks knowing some people..."
"Nice! That means we don't have to squeeze by all the people that are already seated and actually have some leg room", Jade commented. "We sit side by side, right?" she then checked from Sloane when they started heading to the arena.
Trace was once again stuck with Amy.
She didn't mind it, as she liked to get to know him a little bit more, but there was something melancholic about the way he looked after the girls.
Like he was the kid in school yard who had been excluded from all the fun activities.
Even though Amy had already pretty much made up her mind about wanting to give Trace a chance, she couldn't help but think maybe in this moment she also said the following in trying to cheer him up a little bit.
"Trace... Why don't you come by the ranch tomorrow, and I'll give you a tour of the place before we sign the papers?" Amy then suggested.
Trace's facial expression immediately changed and he turned his head toward her. "Really...? You mean, like... I got the job?"
"Well, from what I've seen and heard, I would like to give you a chance", Amy confirmed.
Trace's grin widened. "That's amazing! Thank you! You won't regret this."
"So this means the job interview is over, and you can just relax now", Amy wanted to add, feeling like even though this had been very informal to begin with, she wanted him to know he didn't have to think about that part anymore and he could just enjoy what they had actually came here to do; to watch a show.
When Sloane, Jade, Amy - Lyndy on her lap - and Trace were seated, they found themselves in the middle of a reining competition. Amy was, of course, familiar with the sport, but she never grew tired of witnessing the way the riders were able to move their horses just by using their legs and seat.
It created this effortless look, almost as though the riders were telepathically communicating with their horse. There was some type of magic to it, even though deep down it all came down to the way horses were so sensitive to everything that was happening around them.
Even though the disciplines were very different, Amy liked to think a lot of the same tricks these riders used could also be utilized in liberty work - which was one of her favorites.
Sitting here in the crowd, it really did make Amy realize just how isolated she had gotten over the last few years. She, of course, worked with clients all the time, which made her socialize a bit outside her family, but typically the meetings were one-on-one and everything was fixed during their visits to the ranch; she rarely got to see how her tips continued her work outside the Heartland's acres.
Even though it was always fulfilling to see the back of the trailers pass the gates once her part was done, for her this made it more real.
It was not only nice to let a little loose once in a while, but also refreshing not be the expert for once; she still had so much she could learn from others and these type of events could really help her perfect her own techniques as well.
"So, you know the halftime performer?" Trace leaned in a little to ask the question while their eyes followed the reining show.
"Yeah, I actually helped him few weeks ago to prepare for this event", Amy shared. "Not so much with the tricks, because he had those down, but more about his confidence."
"Oh, I thought you worked with horses? But you're like a coach too?"
"Well, it's... complex", Amy explained. "Sometimes it's "a horse problem", but I find more often than not it's "a people problem", really. In this case it was bit of both."
"What happened?" Trace was curious to know how exactly Amy did her work.
He knew she was a so-called horse whisperer, but he had never really witnessed anything like that himself as he didn't connect with horses in a similar way than some other people in other horse sports did.
His job was to get on a random bronc and hold on as long as he could. When it was over, he would probably never see the horse again.
"Well, the horse, Helico, had to have one of his eyes removed. When they started their training again after he was healed, Asher - the rider -, hurt himself. So then, when he was all better again, his confidence was just... gone, and Helico could sense that", Amy spoke. "So they needed to learn to connect again so they could work together as a team. That was my job."
"Wow, that sounds pretty amazing", Trace had to admit. "And they do trick-riding?"
"Uh-huh", Amy said just when the reining show ended. "And you're about to see that now..." she said, feeling the butterflies for them.
She knew just how much this meant for Asher and for Helico too, to be back on the spotlight after going through such a difficult couple of years.
This was their moment - and she had just been lucky to be one part of it.
Amy now turned on Jade on her right.
"Can you hold Lyndy? Asher asked me if I could film the performance, so I need my hands free."
"Of course", Jade said, nodding. "Come here, little monkey!"
Lyndy climbed on her lap, and Jade helped her adjust so she could see the performance too.
The little girl didn't exactly know what was going on, but she loved watching the horses and had her eyes glued on them every time she saw one.
Meanwhile, Amy pulled out her phone and opened her camera, making sure she was ready to record the whole thing.
It didn't take long before the duo was announced to the stage and they sped from the opening on the side like they had fire under their tail.
A wide grin spread across Amy's face when she saw Asher take in the arena and she pressed the red button and started recording while the audience cheered around her.
The two looked so majestic, despite the campy trick-riding suit with embellishments and sequins Asher wore and the matching breast collar and mask Helico had on.
It was evident this had been a long-awaited comeback for not only to the rider and his horse, but for so many people in the crowd as well.
When Asher and Helico had done one lap of riding around the pen, waving at people, it came time to show the tricks.
Amy followed their movements with her phone and checked that the screen was sharp and catching everything properly as the camera tended to do automatic settings whenever the light around the arena changed or the movement of the rows of paper garlands distracted it.
She caught a glimpse of them off-camera every now and then, wanting to be present as well and actually enjoy this while she was here, instead of just staring at the screen.
As Amy watched Asher move from one trick to another, she couldn't help but think about Georgie and how her niece would have probably loved this.
It was unfortunate that the young girl was not here now, but Amy also wanted to respect Georgie's decision to stay away from her now that she was still digesting the news about Amy being with Mitch.
Shaking the thought of Georgie for now, Amy brought her eyes back to Asher who was getting ready for what seemed to be The Tail Drag.
Amy knew this was a trick for only to the very advanced performers, and while watching it made her nervous, she also had trust in Asher's ability to do it.
This stunt required Asher to release his hands and arms downward while hanging off the horse's back end, bringing his head near the running horse's tail and hooves.
When Asher was down, the crowd cheered and gave him the reaction he had been hoping for. Even Amy felt the release of the moment in her body.
It was not until he was trying to get back up, just as they were heading to the Amy's section of the arena, that she could immediately sense that something was wrong.
While Helico galloped on, just like he had been trained to do no matter what was happening with the rider, Asher hung up on him and could not get off.
Even though the trick-rider was trying to stay calm, so he could fix the situation, Amy could read the silent panic from him.
"Oh no..." Amy let out and put her phone aside on Trace, immediately springing into action, not giving it any second thought, while her cowboy hat flew off.
Helico needed to be stopped or he would drag Asher around like a rag doll, and the possibility of the young man getting killed became higher with every second.
Not really having any plan in mind, Amy rushed over the gate and kept her eyes on the horse that was galloping forward with his rider getting closer and closer to his hooves as Asher's body failed to get him up.
"Ma'am, you can't go there!" she heard one of the staff members say behind her, but at this moment she didn't care.
Lives were on the line.
The audience gasped when it seemed like Asher had been able to free himself from the drag, but Helico still kept going forward, toward Amy who had no idea that the rider was already on the ground and the paramedics were on their way.
"Wo-oh, boy!" Amy tried, raising her hands up and making her body bigger, like she so often did in a situation where a horse was trying to charge her.
But with Helico's limited ability to see, Amy was left in his blind corner and she was pushed violently against the wall by the horse.
It all happened so fast and there was nothing she could have done to avoid it.
As the last conscious thing she could sense, Amy felt her head bang against a hard surface and she wanted to scream out of pain, but a wind was knocked out of her, and she was left gasping as she drifted away.
It all went to black quickly.

One Day - Heartland AU (Part 37)
Parts: 36 ... Trigger Warnings: minor descriptions of rape
“But you do know, don’t you? You heard his voice.”
“Pretty little thing you have here, Tim.”  “See you tomorrow, sweetheart.”
Amy stared out into the yard while her vision blurred with tears.
“Tell Daddy we’re even.”
She replayed the words over and over and over in an endless loop for the last three months. But when she opened the memory to that night, it wasn’t just his voice. It was the feel of him, too. His weight crushing her front into the concrete so she could barely suck in enough air to scream. His legs pinning her in place leaving no room to fight him off. His hands touching her in places she didn’t think she’d ever be able to unfeel. His cock tearing her open so violently she was left bleeding and sore for days. Trying to isolate a voice in the chaos of blind panic proved nearly impossible.
Shutting her eyes, Amy turned away from Ty, away from the onslaught of horrific memories that threatened to separate her soul from her body as it had that night.
Unable to take her suffering anymore, Ty slid over to try to take her hand from between her knees. To get her to look at him. “Amy. I’m sorry.” He felt terrible for bringing up that night, for stirring that memory.
His hand banding around her wrist triggered a flash of her attacker snatching it when she desperately tried to reach for something to defend herself. He twisted her arm behind her back, yanking on it so hard it nearly went out of joint.
“No.” She broke then. Tore herself out of Ty’s grasp and surged to her feet.
That was when Lisa pulled away from Jack and rushed to meet Amy when she bolted inside. The two women collided, Amy falling apart in a mess of sobs and trembling legs. Lisa was barely able to hold onto her when they gave out, easing down with her to the kitchen floor.
“Oh, honey.” Lisa’s voice cracked as tears gathered in her own eyes.
Ty stood in the doorway, his face pale. He saw Amy have panic attacks before, a few times in fact, but never like this. Never to the point of her losing all control. She kept herself so tightly wound she was more likely to lash out in anger that Ty came to learn was simply masked fear. This was… the dam truly breaking.
Jack remained just as helpless near the sink. He didn’t want to believe Ty was right even though it had made sense. Discovering the truth didn’t just hurt, it incited an anger he hadn’t felt in quite a long time. Meeting Ty’s eye, Jack lifted his chin for him to go. Ty nodded, his gaze dropping to the floor for a second before retreating outside.
Moving his gun to rest  against the side of the fridge out of the way, Jack then crouched beside his wife who had her arms secured around Amy. It wasn’t lost on him that she was actually allowing the contact, even curling into it. “Is there anything I can do?” Jack asked Lisa quietly.
She shook her head. “I don’t think so,” she answered softly. What could any of them really do aside from what they were doing?
Jack gave a small nod, placing a comforting hand on her back before standing. “We’ll give you some space.”
He joined Ty outside, finding his grandson pacing the length of the yard and running his hands through his hair in aggravated motions. He stopped when he spotted Jack, lacing his fingers tightly behind his head and tipping it back to look at the night sky. “I didn’t want to be right.”
“But you were and now we know. Now we can move forward.”
Ty twisted to look at his grandfather. “Can we? She still can’t tell us who it was.”
Running his fingers over his mustache, Jack tried to drown out the sound of Amy’s sobs at his back. “I think it’s time I give Tim Fleming a call.” He didn’t intend to unless absolutely necessary, waiting to see if he’d reach out on his own to check on Amy. Aside from the time Amy called him to try to go home, there was no other contact. Given what he knew before and solidified by what he knew now, Jack would assume Tim was still protecting Amy by keeping his distance. It was about time they found out what he was hiding from them all.
Lisa massaged her hand across Amy’s back, rocking her in a soothing motion while gently shushing her. “You’re safe here, okay?”
Was she? Amy didn’t even know anymore. Safer than in Vancouver maybe, but without knowing if the man who raped her was someone with a vendetta or simply an opportunist, she couldn’t say for certain. Ty could very well have been right about everything and they needed to be on alert for the possibility of danger following her to Heartland.
“I’m going to be sick.” Untangling herself from Lisa, Amy scrambled to her feet, barely making it to the bathroom before she was once again on the floor retching into the toilet until there was nothing left but dry heaves.
Not wanting to leave Amy alone, Lisa followed, gathering her hair out of her face and holding it at the nape of her neck. She resumed rubbing rhythmic circles over her back and tracing along her spine in an attempt to alleviate the tension gathered in her body.
It took a little while for Amy to calm down enough to relax on her heels on the floor. At some point Lisa left to find a blanket that she draped over her back and took up a vigil on the edge of the tub.
Wiping at the itchy dried tears on her cheeks, Amy fell back against the vanity. She tugged the blanket around her trembling body, curling beneath its warmth. Lisa remained quiet all the while aside from some murmured assurances and words of encouragement. Amy couldn’t hear all of what she said, only that it was a comfort to have someone there to help pull her back together.
“Here. Drink some water,” Lisa said, handing her the glass she had sitting on the counter.
Taking it gratefully, Amy swallowed a few small sips then curled the glass against her chest inside the blanket.
“I’m sorry.” she mumbled, her voice hoarse.
“Oh, sweetie, you’ve been through hell. You have more than a right to break down.”
Amy closed her eyes. They burned from so much crying and rubbing at them. She hadn’t even considered the fact that Jack and Lisa had been in the kitchen when she came barreling inside. She assumed they overheard every dirty detail she confessed to Ty. It was just as well. At least she wouldn’t have to repeat any of it.
“It’s not just that.” Her eyes opened again, staring down into the water. “When I first arrived Ty accused me of possibly leading trouble into your home. I was offended then but… what if he turns out to be right?” She didn’t even want to fathom the possibility. It terrified her.
Lisa wouldn’t deny it worried her, too. But they had a lot of trouble come through Heartland over the years between Ty and the inmate program. Even her farm, Fairfield, wasn’t immune to corruption and scandal. So far they survived all of it while coming out stronger on the other side. “Then… we prepare for it.”
Amy lifted her eyes to Lisa.
“Maybe nothing will happen. But we need to be ready for anything. Knowledge is power, right?” The older woman reached out to place a reassuring hand on Amy’s shoulder. “The more we know, the better equipped we can be to keep this ranch and everyone on it safe.”
“What else do you want to know.” Amy’s voice shook, new tears retracing the paths of the old. It wasn’t just that she didn’t want to delve into the details of the night of her assault, there were parts that she couldn’t remember. That her brain hid away in the forgotten corners of her memory as a way of protecting her.
“Anything you can tell us. Even the things you’d rather stay buried.” Even the smallest seemingly insignificant details could make a difference.
Pressing her teeth down on the inside of her lip, Amy couldn’t help picturing the expressions on their faces from the details of her trauma. She didn’t even know if she was capable of forming the words let alone saying them out loud to these people who took her in when no one else wanted to.
“When you’re ready,” Lisa added when she saw the anxiety literally biting into Amy’s lip.
Amy nodded, relieved she wouldn’t be pressured again to speak her truth. She was exhausted in every sense of the word. “I’m gonna go back to bed,” she murmured, unfolding herself from the blanket. Lisa reached out to take the glass of water so Amy could stand then handed it back. She stood and walked with her out of the bathroom, pausing in the hall until Amy shut the bedroom door.
Jack and Ty looked at Lisa expectantly when she emerged from the house. “She went back to bed.”
“Did she say anything else?” Ty asked.
“No. She’s exhausted and understandably upset. Give her some space to breathe. She’ll tell us more in her own time.”
Ty wasn’t good at being patient, but he relented. They learned more than he ever expected to in a very short time. It was enough to do some of his own digging.
Lisa looked at Jack. “Tim didn’t give you any indication of what might be going on?” She knew her husband didn’t ask too many questions before agreeing to take Amy on but clearly they should have.
Jack shrugged. “His daughter was pregnant and she was having a hard time coping. He couldn’t offer her the support she needed. I assumed that meant he wasn’t able to handle her and the care she required whether that be emotionally or financially. I wouldn’t have guessed it was something like this.”
Ty frowned. “He didn’t want them finding out their actions had repercussions. In the event they came to claim what was theirs, or clean up after themselves.”
They were all silent for a moment, letting the implication of that sink in.
“That’s what we need to be prepared for,” Ty added. “We need to find out who did it. Then we can determine the threat level they pose.”
“You think it was one of the men who came to shake down Tim?” Jack asked.
Ty considered the option again. “It has to be. It’s the only thing that makes sense.”
Lisa chimed in. “Unless it was just a random act of opportunity. Do we know where it happened?”
Ty and Jack looked at one another, neither having an answer. “That’s part of the story we’ll have to wait for her to share,” Ty said. They needed to know the details of that night. Awful as they would be to hear, it might be the thing they needed to narrow the suspect pool.
