I love Death Stranding. I love how metal it is that there's a character that induces a cardiac arrest every 21 minutes, so he can spend 3 minutes looking for his family in purgatory - before having his heart restarted. Every day. 60 deaths, 60 resurrections. You have a full 21min cutscene chatting with him - and then he lays down, asks you to relax, and fucking dies. The game just... goes quiet. You're alone in the room with his corpse. With two corpses actually - you just delivered one to him. You can look around at stuff... listen to the quiet funeral march... It forces you to slow down and really take in being inside for once. Sam is NEVER inside, and when he is its somewhere cold and minimalist... but this room is full of personal objects. Photo frames, CDs, books... you can go and peruse them all, all of Heartmans 'stuff'. It feels personal and homely and warm. And yet he kills himself 60 times a day to look for his family... so he can go and die with them for real. You see all his things, you see his warm and cozy house, you chat to him at length... How Momento Mori.
