So one thing I always forgot to talk about when it comes to saurian dragons, and pretty much always forgot to draw too, are these things!! They're called vents and they're mainly used for breathing when flying in high altitudes that contain less oxygen. They're also used as a cool down system, especially when dragons get overheated due to extensive magic use. Dragon are able to use them to vocalize too and they can create deep rumbles, trumpets, chirps and even whistles that sound somewhat what like string instruments. Being slits between the ribs that lead directly to the lungs does however make them huge weak points and dragons generally keep their wings folded and tucked to their sides both for protection and convenience. If a dragon has their wings spread or dropped in a way where the vents are clearly visible they mostly likely feel very safe and relaxed. Because of this, actions like tucking someone under their wings are a huge sign of trust.

i go "no i've never really read comics actually :)" but that is patently untrue. i don't Usually read comics. but i've read the spiderman/deadpool crossover at least twice and i read through a bunch of venom runs like a starving man for like two months straight at one point. so. i read comics when there's Freak Shit in there
