The way Nick and Charlie are so giddy when they see each other at school in 1x04 🥺 It’s so obvious that something happened that only they know. I was gonna say “they’re practically giggling and kicking their feet” and then they literally both giggled.
Can we get Miss Tara Jones in here to give them a knowing look? 😊

It must be so valuable for Charlie to have an understanding adult like Mr. Ajayi.
He took Charlie’s bullying seriously, resolved it at the time, and gave Charlie a safe place from it without even knowing he needed it — but clearly also in general. He’s the only authority figure, the only character at all, that we’ve seen Charlie open up to and seek advice from, about Ben, then Nick. In both cases, Charlie comes to Mr. Ajayi for a perspective that he can’t get from anyone else in his life, saying that his not gay friends wouldn’t understand Ben and emphasizing not that his crush is unrequited, but on a “straight” boy. And it’s clear that Mr. Ajayi does Get It, like when Charlie says that Nick is on the rugby team and he joined, and Mr. Ajayi gives a knowing “mm, of course you did” 🫢
Mr. Ajayi was probably reeling a touch from Charlie talking about a different romantic problem in a matter of days (“wow, being a teenager is terrible,” he says, LOL), or some whole other student treating the art room like Charlie’s office, and he was (repeatedly?) told off by the cleaners, but he never got annoyed or restricted anything. He will hold Charlie to a reasonable standard, saying that he can’t solve his problems for him when Charlie doesn’t even know what he wants and telling him not to make a mess, but he’ll still generously support him, bombastically side-eyeing Nick thinking he’s Ben and letting them have the room 😁
What more will Mr. Ajayi do in chapter 4 and season 2? 👀
