I absolutely ADORE "Our Mutual Friend"!! So happy to find someone else who does as well. :D (And I'm very grateful I have the DVDs.) I loved reading your tags on that reblog. Your Costume Drama Sundays sound so fun!

OMF is such an underrated Dickens! It’s the Persuasion, in a way: not the big crowd-pleaser on first sight, but has a depth of feeling in its somber mood that takes you by surprise. And the 1998 adapt is still my favourite filmed Dickens - so wonderfully cast at every level!

The Lightwood and Wrayburn double-act! Bella so pert and decided but still so vulnerable and genuine! Wegg and Venus, every conversation a delight! David Morrissey as Headstone legitimately, physically makes my skin crawl, what an astonishing performance! Amazing performances all round though, there’s no part that has me wishing to get back to the ‘main’ story, they all feel like the main story.

And I highly encourage Costume Drama Sundays - I’ve gotten so used to smashing a full 6 hour miniseries in a go, but it sort of telescopes the experience into a compressed time which isnt always that enjoyable for every story, tbh. I’m really enjoying enforcing my own slow-release format for TV-designed stories that were created by the adaptor and directors to be a weekly episode, with then time to consider it, and then a wait-for-it anticipation for the next one. Small delights are delights nonetheless!

Well, yes? It´s kinds reaching but i did gif Sony´s Spiderverse Across the Spiderverse this year, not one, but two times!! haha This blog is all Benedict related so, those sets involved Doctor Strange, of course.

ONE of my favorites it´s Benedict´s birthday set. I didn´t know what to do for a long while and when I decided i didn´t have much time! but it turned out pretty good.😅

Sorry I'm late but it's this ask game!!

1. What made me ship it? Well, canon, for one thing. But also Sinead and Gabe just play these two so adorably with each other that it's nearly impossible not to. :)

2. Favorite things about it? The casual way that Brom especially is like "She's my wife now so I must be Good Husband." The way there's a confusion as to how it's supposed to work, but an eventual commitment to making it work. That despite Problems™️, they still choose each other in the end. Verla filling the chaotic daughter role.

3. Unpopular opinion about them? Fwoof, I'm not sure I have an unpopular opinion about them. Maybe that I don't think Matilda really had feelings for Brom before they got married, but she caught them after without expecting it? That said, I love headcanons that say she did.

So far, including rereads: 172.

11. What was your favorite book that has been out for a while, but you just now read?

Od Magic by Patricia A. McKillip. I'm slowly making my way through her books and I'm loving it.

25. What reading goals do you have for next year?

I aim for 100+ books, as I do each year.

I'd also love to read more non-fiction and continue to explore the horror genre, particularly the gothic horror genre as it's become one of my favourites.

Like Water

The five (former) guardians of Kandrakar returned to Heatherfield and were ready to resume their daily lives. Everything is back to normal. Except it isn't. At least for Irma.

For the longest time, she was facing a battle. A battle that can be resolved within her. It is not easy to discover her sexuality. Well, no. The discovery was the easy part.

Dealing with it, facing it, and admitting it is the hardest. Especially when you have your fair share of internalized homophobia.

Irma was successful in this battle. But, just as she was getting the hang of it, she began catching feelings -- and for a friend!

She internally laughs at this cruel cosmic joke thrown at her. Of all the people she can fall in love with, why does it have to be Cornelia Hale?

Yep. Cornelia Hale, former Earth Guardian and the campus ice queen, beaming with elegance from head to toe. Cornelia Hale, with whom she always has a round of verbal sparring. Cornelia Hale, currently in a relationship with Taranee's older brother.

If this thing happened to another person, Irma would have been amused. Right now, she feels like water. Come to think of it, she feels more like her element now than when she was still the Water Guardian.

Like water. Calm, collected, and yet, full of struggles beneath the surface. A dangerous turmoil ready to spill, ready to destroy.

And Irma did spill. On their last day in Kandrakar, she bore her heart out. She told Cornelia how she felt. Cornelia, elegant as ever, received her emotions with grace.

However, the ambiguity of it all bothered Irma. Did Cornelia understand what she was trying to say? Was she as clear as an untouched river on a bright, summer day?

Like water, ready to destroy. And Irma was destroyed.

Upon coming back to Heatherfield, Cornelia quickly called Peter and asked to be picked up. She sounded happy. Irma can only look as Peter arrived and the couple shared a kiss.

She can almost hear her heart break. Irma managed to catch a glimpse of Hay Lin briefly looking at her with concern and, in the end, just gave an optimistic smile.

Irma smiled. The only thing to do now is move forward. Even rivers eventually become the sea.

Just two more weeks and they are graduating.

She will eventually move out of Heatherfield. She will emerge from her shell, welcoming her newfound confidence and maybe, just maybe, forget about Cornelia Hale.
