Calamity week day 1 “Turning point”

You guys have no idea how much fun I had using all the symbolism in this art :D BIG SPIOLERS in the Nerd talk ™.

1. The plant in the background - it’s wormwood, symbol of armageddon, pain and calamity. I used it as a title for this whole illustration, because this is exactly what would happend if no one would help XL - armageddon. It’s also pretty good plant to open a series made for calamities, right? :D 2. HC hand position lay in a sign of the devil, but it’s also resting on XL shoulder, which means support for him. He’s barely touching him - as Wú Míng, Hua Cheng was only a servant, so phisical contact is a bold move - you can read it as a hidden love. 3. BWX hand is raised in the symbol of “the one to talk” (and you can know it also as a symbol of saints), but he’s in the bottom of the whole drawing, bcs, in the end, he couldn’t do anything to XL - it was HC who took control of the whole situation, and that’s why he’s on top. 4. XL being in the middle, holding masks for BWX and HC means “the one who chooses”, as the symbol of the greatest god. Ah, he also doesn’t have a mask, bcs he’s the only one who doesn’t hide his personality. 5. Can you see BWX kimono collar? It has three strips instead of 2 or 4 and it’s not an accident. Collar can be a symbol of oppression, but BWX is the one who took it on himself by his three personalities: The Crown Prince, Jun Wu and finally, Bai Wuxiang. The Crown Prince and Jun Wu are complementary, but as a calamity, BWX is destroing peace (and we can symbolize it with non-symmetry). See? WE CAN WRITE WITH ART.

Second day of cCalamity Week - "Hope" and "Colors" It's pretty simple today, I'm sure everyone can read it even without my help :)

Today's plants are peony and geraniums leaves- peony for luck and romance, and geraniums for an unexpected meeting. It's pretty obvious who he wanted to meet and why it's his hope ;) Peony have a lot of different meanings, from good mariage, through unexpected luck until shame and anger. And they all work :D BWX is holding a tower - as a symbol of hope, it's obviously referring to his dream of saving his country, but the main meaning of tower is chaos, destruction and danger. BWX couldn't save his people, so all what left is... well, the bad meaning. QR's green flame - a symbol of power over ghosts. For QR and HX it's more about desire/hope, so yeah, you can simply read it as "wanting more power". HX - his family urn, hope for revenge. Look at QR and HX hands, one is reaching for power, the other is barely touching the urn. Maybe it's my overinterpretation, but I don't think revenge ever was HX's hope. I don’t even think he had anything he dreamed of - It was more like a duty, but he made it his only light in life. That’s why HX is the only one who it not 100% concentrated on his item - because he doesn’t want his family back. He only want to fulfill the duty. Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow! :)

Last day of Calamity Week! It’s 6th prompt, “The one to trust” and I decided to go with He Xuan and Hua Cheng. Nerd’s Talk and spoilers below:

Ok, for first, why those two instead of HC and XL? Or HX and SQX? Or literally any other characters pair? Let me tell you - because I’m a big shipper of those two, that’s why, not gonna lie (but not really in a romantic - romantic way, more like deep bromance with no warm feelings. I know it sounds weird, maybe my nerd’s rambling tell you more).

So, flower for today is blue tulip. There are quite a few flowers that mean “trust”, but most of them means also things like “innocence”, “sweetness” or other fluffy things I clearly wanted to avoid. Blue tulip means “respect”, “tranquility”, and, finally, ‘trust”. I think all of them suit well for HC and HX; “respect” is obvious - even if HC looks like he doesn’t have any esteem for HX, we can see it in his discomfort at Black Water Island. They respect each other’s powers - even if they don’t look friendly, they are still more comfortable next to each other. “Tranquility” - for me, it’s kind of certainty, that you are not alone. They could simply destroy the world, you know? After all those years of loneliness, everyone could go mad, and with all those powers they held, it would be nice to know, that there is someone who can take you down if you are getting too crazy. A safety-button only for you.

Ok, but what the fuck they are doing, fighting? Hugging? Both, actually? Look at their hands - the left ones have a meaning of “limit” - HX hand covering HC’s eyes, and HC’s hand covering HX’s lips. It’s not romantic - it’s mean “don’t talk, don’t look”, they are holding a lot each other's ugly secrets, but at the same time they are helping each other - HC was HX’s lips in Black Water arc, HX was HC’s eyes over XL. If this is not trust, I don’t know what it is.

The right hands aren’t so clear - they are holding each other, helping and allowing to set limits, but at first sight, it looks like they are pushing or repel. Well, both meanings are true, but I want them to mean “comfort”. Their relationship was complicated, right? I think they fought as much as they helped each other. The certain thing is, that they are close.

Ok, so that’s it! Thank you so much for reading my rambling for a whole week (also, I’m really sorry for my English, I know it’s not perfect, but this one person just said “whatever, I want to know what you mean and I “sh*t on your English”, so, bully him, not me, I just deliver). It was GREAT experience and simply fun to do - hope you guys stay with me, I draw a lot of TGCF fanarts :D And no, not everything I draw has Deep Deep Meaning but I’m sure you can read some of my shitposts in more than one way :D

Fourth day of Calamity week "Mercy" Like always, more Nerd’s Talk below. Big spoilers for Black Water Arc!

Ok, fine, it was my second favorite idea in the whole week (the favorite idea will be ready on Saturday and I'm already hyping). So. Mercy with beafleaf, (it had to be beafleaf) and ofc it had to be the final scene from black water arc, bcs I'm a slut for dramatic stuff. All yellow rose meaning - Friendship, apology, intense emotion, undying love, extreme betrayal, a broken heart, jealousy. ALL OF THIS WORK WITH BEAFLEAF. I started this whole series because I found meaning for yellow rose and wormwood and it suited so well I couldn't resist. Position of hands- HX is holding SQX like he wants to break his neck, but at the same time is covering his eyes (eye). It's an analogy for his emotions - he wants his revenge, he wants SQX to feel pain, but at the same time, he is showing a mercy for him. When someone holds you like this, you can't really move, and if you look closely, SQX can't even close his eye. He had to look at his brother death, and even if HX gave him illusion of choice, they didn't really have it. But it's not like SQX trying to resist. He is calm. Both his hands are free and he isn't trying to fight with HX- SQX knew the Wind Master power wasn't his, and the only mercy he wanted also wasn't for him, but for his brother: the fan he is holding is not his, but SWD's. It's a simple gesture- save my brother, not me. But HX is looking only at SQX. He wouldn't show mercy to anyone except SQX, SWD didn't matter. If you want, you can break the fourth wall here- SQX can look at you. I had so much fun, and I mean FUN drawing a scene with 2 characters, but meaning actually more. FUN, FUN, FUN.
