It's mainly just some mental health issues mixed with work, right now I'm barely touching tumblr because I'm way to busy and may or may not be in a lot of pain from a few health issues.

I don't want to ignore anyone, I'm just more or less trying to get some stuff to calm down before I go absolutely nuts, I don't want anyone else to have to deal with my barely functional self right now, it doesn't feel right. Also my tumblr messages glitched the fuck out.

Hi there, Anon-friend! Thank you for the ask! There are a lot of really nice and well thought out OC x CC pairings in the Black Clover fandom, and I certainly have a lot of respect for everyone who takes the time, passion, and inspiration to make these OCs and their ships. Even though I'm not usually that into shipping (despite what the past few days of ship specific content on this blog might seem to imply), I have definitely enjoyed many Black Clover OC x CC pairings in the fandom, but from my Tumblr mutuals specifically, I think I've actually talked about most of my favorites as part of this ask game already. 😊

The only one of my all-time favorites that come to mind that's missing is @delicious-donna/@delirious-donna's Alina x Magna from Chasing the Sparks (AO3 Link) which is another that's probably just permanently part of my personal canon now. I personally find it very compelling because I think they're very well suited for each other. Alina is kind of this gentle and steady constant in the chaos of Magna’s life and Magna’s enthusiasm and loyalty really encourages her to build confidence and believe in herself and her abilities. They really bring out the best in each other, and it's very, very sweet. I also just adore Alina as a character (and not just because she's Finral and Langris's cousin though that is just a major bonus and I loved getting to write about their platonic cousin relationship in the story Donna requested, "Melting Snowman," and in a really fun collaboration project that unfortunately never got finished). But yes, they are wonderful and definitely an all-time favorite of mine. 💖

In terms of my other personal favorites from my Tumblr moots that I've already talked about, I'll just list them and link to the posts where I rambled about them already:

There are ships from friends from other places and a few from some relative strangers that I've seen floating around that I enjoy, but these are definitely my favorites from my Tumblr friends and pairings that I really think of as part of my personal canon for Black Clover and the characters' futures. Ugh I have homework to do too but i don't wanna since today was supposed to be my rest day

I know how that feels, but sometimes you've got to put up with the homework because not doing can result in some worse things.

I didn't do my sixth grade math homework because I couldn't do fractions since I could barely read them and the teacher put me in lunch detention for eight weeks while also failing me for math. So, I'd muscle through it, just remember, Google is your best friend and it's not like anyone's gonna know. :3

4. How do you choose which fics to write?

Usually, if I think of an idea, and it continues to eat at my brain for more than a week, I'll write down the notes. If I keep thinking about that idea to the point where I can visualise lots of things and it starts genuinely affecting my productivity, I'll start trying to turn it into an actual fic. 9 times out of 10 I'll get it to a point to post it, the other time it's more of a brain dump of scenes that can't really be strung together with a plot.

This is what happens with 24 at least (which you know is like 90% of what I write). For most other things, if I've got an idea after watching it/playing it (if it's a video game), I will immediately write down anything and everything and post it rather quickly because I know I'm not going to be motivated if I wait too long.

11. Do you write scenes in order, or do you jump around?

Depends! I mainly stick to writing things in order, just for the sake of flow and also because if I write the easier/fun scenes first, I'll never get back to the other ones.

That being said, I've been jumping around a lot more lately with fics that don't have a preplanned structure to try and find said structure..

do you have good comic recs for cass and helena? i'm currently writing a fic and i want to include cass, but written accurately to her character.

while helena, i just love and grew up on her character when watching jlu as a kid. her and the question were my favorites.

yeah! cass research!! one of my favourite topics!! ur in luck cause her character bible is batgirl (2000) by kelley puckett, and it’s a really exceptional comic that tells u everything u need to know about cass. i’d read no man’s land first because that’s her formal character introduction, and u also get some great character moments for helena! then batgirl, then bruce wayne murderer + fugitive to see how she operates with the gotham supporting cast. after that we tragically enter the dan didio dark ages (derogatory) but she still briefly appears in batgirl 2009 and red robin. i’d also read gates of gotham for some fun interactions with damian. that should give u a very solid foundation, and u will know how to judge if a comic she’s in is worth reading. do not read one year later under any circumstances. there is no one year later in dc canon.

as for helena i haven’t read a tonne of her solo stuff — huntress 1989 is probably the best place to start for her origin, and cry for the huntress was an arc in the 90s robin ongoing. gail simone’s birds of prey is a classic, obvsly, and she’s great in no man’s land, but i’d also recommend cry for blood by greg rucka and huntress: year one. i really wish she was around more in group stuff — aside from the birds, she’s a great pairing for kate kane and tim drake.

wrt to writing cass my only advice is that she isn’t placid or silent, she’s like if bruce wayne was a seventeen year old girl (indescribable torment). no one has ever cared about human life the way cass cain has.

Can I ask why you would say Poseidon or Hades for Helena? I’ve been thinking about this over and over since the new thing came out.

Honestly the real answer here is "I want Helena to be a Big Three child for the drama and because it does genuinely fit her, but she's pretty clearly not a Zeus kid so I need to figure out whether Poseidon or Hades fits her better."

The meta answer is that her general personality fits being a child of Poseidon more but her history and style of vigilantism fit being a child of Hades more. Because both godly parents would fit her, I'm focusing more on which one fits her better for the purposes of the fic.

The slightly more technical answer is that she's going to be a Hunter of Artemis in this AU, so it technically doesn't matter whether she's a demigod or a clear-sighted mortal who caught Artemis' eye, but I wanted her to be a demigod. However since she's a Hunter, I have a little more leeway in how I want to address her history, personality, skillset, and motivations in context of her godly parentage. Hence, the indecision.

Sorry I couldn't provide a really in-depth answer here like I've been able to for everyone else, but it's hard to give a proper explanation when I haven't thought deeply enough about that section to have quite figured it out yet.
