Go to your settings. Notifications, on the right side. "All notifications and all emails" click the pen and change it to receive emails for new followers. When a real person follows you, you get an email. If it's a bot, there's no email.

Does it work every time? Probably not, it's still tumblr. Remember to check the blog anyway, to be sure. Weird url, no profile pic, no title, no likes or reblogs... That's a bot. Report them as spam.

So apparently an update was put in place where snoozing tumblr live doesn't get rid of the icon in navigation bar, it just prevents any posts from coming across your dash and I'm so fucking pissed.

For those of you that have NOT received the newest DUMPSTER FIRE TRAIN WRECK GARBAGE HEAP of an “update” from the clowns called @staff I would RUN NOT WALK and turn off your automatic app updates if you haven’t already.

It may only save us for a bit before they force us to convert, but I’ll take as much time as I possibly can.

And remember: even if you don’t have the update yet, or you have a way to “fix” your app or desktop to make it look like the old tumblr, STILL COMPLAIN TO THE @support WEBSITE (tumblr.com/support - feel free to copy and paste). Label it as feedback and tell them what a LOAD OF SHIT THIS UPDATE IS. Because tumblr will not change this if we don’t yell at them enough. We don’t want Tumblr to be a Twitter clone. I'm getting more and more annoyed by the people running tumblr recently. A while back I remember them trying to claim that the LGBT+ userbase of tumblr is smaller than it actually is, and there's been some really bad stuff on twitter where idk if I can talk about it safely.

But now the AI thing is the ultimate spit in the face.

Tumblr has felt like my internet home for all the 8 years I've been using it, and now they've decided to ruin this site for their users.
