“Im going back to 505, if it’s a seven-hour flight or a 45-minute drive” Nina was always planning on going back to him. 505 here would represent mostly hellgate, which is obviously a prison on an island and very hard to get to, but also their relationship (considering she is going back).

“I’d probably still adore you with your hands around my neck, or I did last time I checked” THE FIRST THING MATTHIAS DOES WHEN SHE COMES TO HIM IN HELLGATE IS STRANGLE HER!! And she still adores him.

“The knife twists at the thought, that I should fall short of the mark” Nina already has a knife in her, what she did to Matthias, but thinking about falling short on the mark of winning him over again further twists it.

“Frightened by the bite, though it’s no harsher than the bark” going back to when he strangled her, it was awful but she realizes it’s no more painful than how he talks to her after, “the bark”.

“The middle of adventure is such a perfect place to start” this isn’t the beginning of their relationship, but it’s not the end either. Nina is trying to convince him this is the perfect place to start over.

“It seems like once again you’ve come to greet me with a goodbye” could either mean symbolically Matthias greeting her after what happened with a goodbye to their relationship, when he clearly shows he doesn’t want anything to do with Nina over and over. Then it could also be combined with the line before saying “but I completely crumble when you cry”. But this also could have another meaning for them *cough* chapter 40 *cough*.

So it's still in early stages but basically:

Matthias is a Viking. Nina is from a village near what would be the equivalent of eastern Europe but I'm the fic won't get too specific because I don't have time to world build or do that much research outside of what I need 😂

Matthias' group shows up on a raid while Nina and a few of her friends (Zoya, Genya, plus a few other Grisha) are out farming/gathering idk something. And they're like omg they have A, B, and C they're witches (I know the Vikings are pagan but so am I so I'm just going to work around some technical stuff until something sticks 😂)

And then someone takes Nina on their ship to be a slave and then the same scene from SoC unfolds of how they first met but instead of getting stranded Nina escapes by herself and runs away only for her to get interrupted by a very wounded Matthias who needs her witchcraft (medicine) to heal him.

She nurses him back to health and then some stuff to test Matthias' loyalty takes place (but ofc he's going to choose Nina what am I playing at). I won't say too much but basically they end up living happily ever after in a cottage in the woods with their numerous dogs and cats.

Recently realized that I haven’t annotated my “six of crows” book, so I’m currently rereading it. And the thing that surprised me the most is Inej, because apparently she’s not as nice and kind as we portray her.

Yes she has more conscious than Kaz, but she’s still sus!

So I’m also thinking about De Kappel that they stole, and my guess is that it was Inej’s idea, so it probably went like this:

Kaz*sitting in his office minding his business, reading a paper*

Inej*bursting through the window*: Kaz!! There’s a merch who bought a De Kappel today

Kaz*very much not interested*: Merchants buy paintings all the time, Inej. Most of them have paintings that worth more than De Kappel
