I think I've seen you mention that modern chimeras look different from old chimeras- how different, exactly? Do some modern chimeras still look similar to the ones you've drawn?
Yeah most still look about the same! Maybe with a few little tweaks. Chimera body shapes tend to vary a lot by what style is most popular at the time. The big thing is that post-Godfall most chimera are older folks just swapping over to younger bodies and very rarely actually having kids. Children will be non naturally magic chimera who cant perform this ritual so they will be born and die within the same body. But for those lucky to have been born early enough, they have access to a conditional immortality of sorts. Lots to get into there but they can gestate and transfer into a new body as the need/want arises. Leading to many getting creative with their look. Most are quite happy to stick with a more familiar shape, while others get a lot more artsy with it. Here are some of the more popular styles currently.
Tumblr media
Some constants however will be their crest(for magicing) and a womb(for making their next bod). Everything else is up for customization.

You know that Claptrap beanie baby post from almost a year ago. Well I had an idea of a mock-up promotion ad for if it would even come into existence.
(which besides the plush keychain, I'm surprised that g/earbox did make an official Claptrap plushies. But if for some reason they do, if he doesn't come with a voice box, I'll be mad)

Been thinking about my antarctic Northern NF subspecies idea again and honestly??? I think it'd make more sense if that chonk subspecies/population was migratory or something like that instead of living in Antarctica year round.
........Also,, like if I ever end up writing a fanfic or whatever, how would Hiccup and Toothless and the rest of the gang ever meet Little Moon if she and her family lived on the literal opposite side of the planet lmaoooo

well now ya GOTTA tell me about octupi!!!
okay so like. a lot of the reason i found human neuroscience so Boring is because everyone is always obsessed with like. 'oh this bit which is psychology' and blah blah blah and psychology is so Fluffy and Bland and 90% of the time people are just talking about like. magic mushrooms. like just do the fucking mushrooms, cowards.
ANYWAYS what i liked about neuroscience or like. why i wanted to study it is because i have a lot of people in my life with neurological conditions/stuff. my mum has epilepsy, as does my brother, one of my friends sustained a spinal cord injury a few years before i started university (don't go skydiving folks). one of my aunts passed due to MS. my grandfather suffers from alzheimers.
unlike the more psychology-oriented stuff, these conditions are like. physically observable degradations or interruptions of the nervous system. we, more or less, Know what's going on. we just don't know how to fix it.
(side note: on the off chance anyone except alyshara reads this, you can fuck right off before doing that whole 'social model of disability' thing. yes it is a useful model for SOME conditions. the conditions i am talking about are not among them. nothing is 'social' about convulsive seizures or chronic pain or dementia.)
what's going on, in the simplest of terms, is that the nervous system - be it the brain, the spinal cord, the synapses, whatever - is degrading. and we have to stop that happening. and then repair it.
so where the fuck do octopuses come in? well, i'm glad you asked.
octopuses have different nervous systems to us. very different. only about 1% of our nerve cells exist outside of our central nervous system (that is to say, our brain and spine). about two thirds of an octopus' nerve cells are in their limbs.
reflex reactions happen when our nerves bypass our brain to Get Shit Done Quicker, and for the most part that's very simple stuff. move hand away from flame. jerk leg back from sharp thing. etc.
octopus limbs can react like a reflex, the way our spinal cord would, but in a far more complex manner. grab the thing. change colour. change texture. etc. if it helps, think of them as slightly more advanced spinal cords. eight of them. now, there are whole debates to have if an octopus' limbs are effectively a hive mind connected to the central brain, if their limbs have consciousness. i don't really care to be honest. i don't think that's a productive scientific question.
what's really fucking cool about this? if an octopus loses a limb (each of which contains just under thirty eight million neurons) it just fucking. grows a new one. just regrows the whole fucking thing. and it works they can do that. we Can't. we just can't. our neurons don't regenerate, really. and certainly not to that extent. peripheral nerves? sure. that's mostly fine. it's tough, but we can do it. the cns? forget it.
(now, to be fair, this depends enormously on the type of damage and/or degradation you're looking at. our bodies are incredible structures capable of amazing things. but for the most part, medical professionals have to spend years retraining our nerves to do what an octopus just entirely replaces from scratch in a matter of weeks.
imagine if we could figure out how to replicate that with us. imagine the lives we could change. imagine the pain we could relieve. imagine the world we could make.
so yeah. octopus neuroscience is pretty fucking cool.

One day I was making Korean corn cheese and thought “I could put beans in this and it would be a fire dip.”
Thus the Cowboy Corn Cheese was born 🫡🌽
It’s a bag of frozen corn, rice vinegar (the flavored kind for sushi), kewpie mayo, shredded white cheddar cheese, and a can of beans (black, pink, whatever you have on hand)
I like heating the corn first in the microwave, then doing the vinegar + mayo sauce until you get it to a consistency you like. Mix in your cheese and rinsed beans and microwave it until the mix is bubbling (3 minutes? You can test with your microwave)
I like eating these with the quinoa and black bean chips from trader joes 🤤

His name is Asher, he's a demon lord.
Bit of backstory under the cut.
I have a sort of... passive? Demon-verse where I put a lot of my demon and angel characters. Not developing any sort of big story, just a place where I put them in my head where I'm like, yes, you all live in the same space, you two are friends, you two are enemies...
In this world, Asher used to be a magic prodigy and a battlemage specialising in fire until he made a contract with a powerful demon called Aekrian. He wanted to become a demon lord too and have land and people he can lord over in Hell because he wanted to skip right to his "reward" in the afterlife and was bored of being a "weak human". He's a born bully and sorts his problems with brute strength and raw magic. He doesn't quite realise that he landed in a nest of snakes and intrigues and still thinks he's pretty safe from everything because he's strong.
Aekrian's intentions are also really not clear and there's obviously something he's hiding, but Asher pretends that he doesn't notice it at all.
An example of how he's not too smart is that he has this demon lord neighbour called Igralith. Asher keeps trying to bully him into giving him land by basically raiding him regularly, not realising that 1) Igralith is both waaay older and more powerful than him, just so lazy that he hasn't bothered striking back yet and 2) holding back because Aekrian is his best friend and told him to be patient with "the puppy". All of this has flown over Asher's head completely, he's just frustrated that Igralith, that he sees as equal to him in strength, is being a coward or even ignoring him. (No one ignores Asher!!)

Jonny’s a grown arse man and literally nothing the TMA fandom can do will shock him I promise you, there is nothing y’all have thought of that someone hasn’t bloody dm’d him at some point.
The Do Not Archive tag is awesome though. Please do use it. It helps to know that if a creator/actor in the fandom actually reads it any trauma they suffer is directly their fault.
I personally am of the opinion that if any creator goes into fandom spaces they have to be prepared for what they see - there’s a reason why you’re not SUPPOSED to. Remember, in the end, fandoms are for US not for the people who made or acted in the thing.
