My Review:

Imagine the frustrations I felt because of the plot twist in Warcross, although of course at some point, I expected it already. Wildcard, however, had me holding my breath. It was like one single move from Emika and she might trigger something bad to happen to her or to anyone in particular.

The happenings in this book were very thrilling. Emika’s conversations with Zero always gives me the creeps. Zero is such a mystery. And then, there’s Hideo with his justification of everything he’s done. But hey, the romance is just so undeniable. I just can’t get enough of Emika and Hideo.

I love how her friendship with the Phoenix Riders stayed intact even though she’s out of the team. And of course, her new friendship with Tremaine is just so cute. I love Tremaine. The struggle I felt with what happened to him in the institute and stuff. It made me insane.

Jax also, is one good character. Gosh, I really thought she’d be evil and all that. That big revelation that Jax told Emika gave me a lot of goosebumps. I am not a total fan of AI tech and all of that. It really gives me the creeps that’s why while reading the part about Sasuke, my mind went I haywire. I could not believe that some people would be so twisted enough to do that to a kid.

And hell yeah, I was so happy when Taylor died. But for me, that was fast. I don’t want to sound cruel but, imagine the pain Sasuke felt for so long. I wanted a more gruesome way for her to die. Waaaah! Until now, I am still annoyed with her. Sasuke did not deserve the things that happened to him.

And like the other books written by Marie Lu, I love how she delivered this story. I cried again. I cried for Sasuke. I cried for Hideo. I cried for Emika. Marie Lu always makes me cry. Wildcard is amazing and it made me give out a sigh of relief.

Tbh planning stuff really scratches my Loving Puzzles itch but now that I have more confidence I must say I love only planning problems and waiting for you all to come up with a stupid solution to it because you always have the best ideas <3

10. what is something your players do that makes your job easier or livens up the table in a way that you appreciate from the gm seat?

Love your little side conversations in character but also love your little comments in the discord chat in real time when you think of a joke but don't want to interrupt. Both are a delight <3

11. favorite npc(s) you’ve ever played?

No that's haaard. There are a lot of them I enjoyed playing and a lot of the time it has less to do with them and more with having them reacting to you? Playing the lady of shadows I guess was a fun time in and of itself because she will just. say things, in a polite but vaguely threatening tone. always a good time :3

12. npc you wish the pc’s had spent more time with/gotten to know better?

Well I mean. There's still time for a lot of those to come up again! I'll say, Simon has a lot more stories to tell about his job if you're ever a little curious, and also I was hoping Orpip would be a little bit more of a long-term nuisance - but of course, that can still happen :>

17. what is your proudest improvisation moment?

I mean, I still think "puppetting a hill giant around with a shiny orange" was one of our greatest moments but I can't take credit for that idea, nor for his terrible insight roll. This is all your best improvisation moment. I think my best improv moment rather has to do with Henka asking for an exorcism out of the blue. That ended up being fun <3

My Review:

Like I said in my first review on Goodreads, I’d still like to thank Victoria Aveyard for instilling in my mind, over and over that “Anyone can betray anyone.” All throughout the story, I doubt every single character being introduced. But of course, I won’t be saying much so there’s not that much spoiler.

Warcross is a whole new world for me. The setting is futuristic and my imagination just forms everything I read. It’s absolutely witty and very advanced. I did not worry about not understanding the terms used by Marie Lu, as she explains them well as you read along.

And since reading Legend back in 2014, I’ve expected that the heroine in here will be badass. I wasn’t wrong. Emika Chen is one intelligent, emotional and understanding character. Although in my opinion, she is not as strong as June, but she knows how to handle herself. Go girl!

Of course, Hideo Tanaka is one that I love. (I have a thing for Japanese guys. I always seem to love them.) He is totally my man! His chemistry with Emika is just undeniably strong that whilst reading, I bite my nails.

The friendship between the members of the Phoenix Riders is just so cute. Asher, Hammie and Roshan is just the kind of friends you would want to be with. At times they remind me of some of my own friends.

Although I must agree with other reviews that somehow, the plot is a bit predictable. Still, I love how it all unveils and I love the twist and of course the cliffhanger which would definitely make you want to read the next book. And fast.
