It is now officially TWENTY YEARS since Jim Jarmusch, the king of indie weird, dropped his finest feature to date, an exceptional hitman movie that simply refuses to be defines by genre tropes or even the normal conventional rules of cinema.  It is also, in my opinion, the COOLEST film of all time.  Here’s to two whole decades of genuine leftfield genius …

Just watched:

“Escape From the Bronx” (1983)

In this sequel to “1990: The Bronx Warriors,” an evil corporation wants to demolish the burned-out ruins of the Bronx and build the city of the future. To clean out the few remaining residents, they send in squads of flame thrower-toting goons. Fortunately “Trash,” the heroic street gang leader from the previous movie, is on hand to head up the resistance and drive out the bad guys.

So yeah, there’s not much plot in this Spaghetti remix of “Escape From New York” and “The Warriors,” but there’s lots of violence, gunfire and explosions. Cheap, schlocky fun.

From  Johnny Cool on Amazon Prime. The wonky perspective on the backdrop building probably bugged a few people but the cameras had to roll.

The bottom one, they try and nudge things by having the window sill line up with the bottom line of the building. It just makes a weird Dutch angle where Telly is still straight up and down.

Edit- I took the top one into photoshop and adjusted the horizon line. I estimate the horizon line as the middle of the men’s ties. It automatically looks better.
