Screw it, more civilian Talia AU
I was originally gonna wait for 10 likes on my last post, but I’ve had this in my head for so long and I can’t hold it in anymore.
So when we last left off, Damian had just been born. Nothing that memorable happened other then reporters attempting to break in to the room and quickly being stopped by Dick, Jason, or Tim (they took turns in the waiting room while the other two were at home prepping the nursery).
Once Talia had gotten home and gotten settled in, she would not the take the doctors advice about being on bed rest because she is Talia Al Ghul and an Al Ghul can handle it. So, she goes and finishes her teaching degree (online of course, she had three boys and a baby to take care of), and begins teaching at Gotham middle school.
While there, a certain student catches her eye. She’s overheard the rumors of her father, the Cluemaster, and decides to see if their true. She wishes to approach her and talk, but is afraid of scaring her. She knows all about being ashamed of family. She gets her moment when one Stephanie Brown comes knocking on her door for tutoring.
Talia of course invites Stephanie over for after school sessions. The young girl is surprised that Talias house feels so… welcoming. She immediately gets along with the boys, especially Tim since their the closest in age, and starts staying longer then the sessions. She eats dinner with them most days of the week, helps take care of Damian, and knows that Talia will carefully help heal any injuries and not ask where they come from, even if it’s obvious.
Before anyone realizes it, she’s sharing a room with Tim and has joined the breakfast table.
Things go a little downhill, in the way that Talia suspected to happen sooner or later. She gets a letter signed from her father. Apparently he had found her at last after years and wanted her to meet someone who would take her home. Talia of course knew it was a trap, but still went, leaving Dick in charge in of the house.
At the meeting place, she saw an old friend of hers. Lady Shiva. She explained that Talia had to come home and take her place of the rightful heir. Talia refused, taking out her sword that she hadn’t used in years, and then duel begun.
Talia didn’t end the duel as quick as she hoped. Her body was still recovering from the pregnancy, and she wouldn’t admit it but she was out of practice. Through all of that, she manages to beat and give a merciful end to Shiva. She is about to leave before she hears the sounds of a child sniffling. She opens the closet and finds one small Cassandra Cain.
Talia feels a small tinge of guilt at the knowledge that she had taken this girls mother from her, and knew she had to take her in. After learning the hard way Cassandra was never trained to speak, Talia immediately was set on having the entire family learn sign language.
As usual, it didn’t take long for Cass to warm up to the family. She was especially close to Jason, and loved resting her head on his lap while he read out loud to her. Steph was quick to teach her ‘girl things’ and take her shopping for new clothes. All and all it was good.
Time skip a little bit, and Talia has officially a foster parent at this point. I should also mention that they moved into a bigger house at this point. Not a mansion (yet) but a bigger house. As a certified foster parent, Talia is asked to parent a girl named Harper Row, along with her little brother Cullen, and weeks later a small Duke Thomas.
It takes longer for the three kids to settle in then the others. Harper is paranoid that this house will be like her last one and is constantly on guard, Duke is still recovering from the trauma of losing his parents to the Joker, and Cullen is a just a toddler who doesn’t understand what’s going on. It’s takes a long time of building trust and a lot of convincing from their new siblings, but they learn to love their new home.
I’ll end this part off with a bat-kid I don’t think is talked about very much. Carrie Kelly. Carrie has very neglectful and addicted parents, which mostly causes her to fend for herself and sneak out at night. One night while she’s eating out, she spots a man trying to rob an old lady. She distracts the man and let to woman get away, but is injured in the process.
Luckily, Talia was grabbing stuff for Jason at the bookstore across the street, and upon seeing what was happening rescued Carrie and took her home to set her injuries. Once they were bandaged, she asked Carrie where she lived. Carrie told her, though it was obvious in her eye that she didn’t wanna go back. Talia offered to let her stay, and Carrie became one of the flock.
Don’t worry, there will be a part four in a couple of days. I’m not done just yet.

Champagne Problems - Taylor Swift “your midas touch on the chevy door, november flush and your flannel cure... how evergreen our group of friends, don’t think we’ll say that word again and soon they’ll have the nerve to deck the halls that we once walked through. one for the money, two for the show, i never was ready so i watch you go. sometimes you just don’t know the answer, ‘til someones on their knees and asks you. she would have made such a lovely bride, ‘what a shame she’s fucked in the head’ they said. but you’ll find the real thing instead, she’ll patch up your tapestry that i shred.”
This one was an obvious choice to me because everything Midas touched turned into gold and Harvey is the GOLDEN BOY. Anyway, I imagine that when Harvey and Elaine broke up it was a SCANDAL, especially with Elaine’s infidelity. I think that when they broke up her natural reaction (after being rejected by Casey) was to want to beg for Harvey back, but she stopped herself from causing him any more hurt than she already had. Which isn’t to say that she WONT be stirring up some drama with him in the future, but i digress. Now that they’re so far removed from it, she wants him to have a future with someone else that can actually make him happy. “How evergreen our group of friends, don’t think we’ll say that word again and soon they’ll have the nerve to deck the halls that we once walked through.” The two of them spent their entire lives as a “we” and an “us”, and now that they’re separated they’ll never be able to say those words again. It’s the recognition that even though the two of them have separated the world didn’t stop spinning and their friends didn’t stop carrying on with their lives. There’s this giant hole where they once were, but to everyone else it’s business as usual.
Favourite Ex - Maisie Peters “it was open and closing and hopelessly hoping for shore. we were here, we were ghosting. both of us coasting on just give a little more...you were my best nights and worst fights and deepest breaths. you were my gold rush to cold touch, favourite ex. and all of the others cancel out each other and its always you left. you were my no sleep, cried for weeks, favourite ex.”
Another gold reference I cannot be stopped. Since they were together for so long, Elaine definitely holds a lot of love in her heart for Harvey even though it’s not romantic. I think it took her a long time to get over no longer having him in her life, especially since she always thought they’d be together forever. Even if it wasn’t what she really wanted.
Love Like That - Lauv “i don’t deserve you and it hurts to get the kinda love that you never had, wish that you could give, give, give it back. wish that i could love, love, love you back. wish that i could love like that... wish i could finish what we started, but i don’t know how to give the kind of love that you deserve, knowing that i can’t just makes it worse.”
I think that Elaine realized she wasn’t in love with Harvey years before they actually broke up. She would hear other people describe the feeling or watch actors swoon over one another in movies, and wonder if she’d ever start to feel that way with him. And then I think she just sort of accepted that it wasn’t going to happen and that she’d just have to deal with it. It wasn’t like she didn’t like being around Harvey, it wasn’t like she’d mind spending her life with him. He would be a good husband, a good father- who cared about butterflies anyway? But there was a nagging guilt in her stomach, knowing that he felt what she couldn’t. She wanted so badly to be able to feel the same way that he did, but it just never happened.
Coney Island - Taylor Swift (feat. The National) “the question pounds my head, what’s a lifetime of achievement? if i pushed you to the edge, but you were too polite to leave me. do you miss the rogue who coaxed you into paradise and left you there? will you forgive my soul, when you’re too wise to trust me and too old to care? we were like the mall before the internet, it was the one place to be. the mischief, the gift-wrapped suburban dreams. sorry for not winning you an arcade ring... did i leave you hanging every single day?...did i paint your bluest skies the darkest gray?... the fast times, the bright lights, the merry-go. sorry for not making you my centerfold.”
Okay I know I included so many lyrics from this song but it truly truly describes their entire relationship perfectly to me. To the Archers, Elaine’s biggest achievement in life would be to marry Harvey. It’s all they’ve ever wanted for their daughter, and at some point I think she started to question if that was really all she ever wanted to do with her life? She’s always been incredibly ambitious, and she hates the thought of only being known as Mrs. Harvey Hargrove one day. Elaine and Harvey spent so much time together that they pretty much built their own world, one that Elaine left Harvey behind in when they broke up. The version of her that existed in that world no longer exists. She’s not in love with Harvey, she never was, but it doesn’t stop her from loving him. She desperately wants to know if he’ll ever forgive her and if they can ever restore some sort of relationship past bickering at events. “Sorry for not winning you an arcade ring” This line speaks volumes to me, because it captures the fact that their relationship existed so much in their childhood/teenhood. An arcade ring seems like such an insignificant thing, but it represents working to win something to give to your significant other. She never put the same work into their relationship as Harvey did.

~Metal Family headcanons~
These are like my... general hcs)? which means I didn't include my main hc that Glam, Ches and Vicky are polyamorous, married and started dating after Glam met Vicky, and absolutely everything that implies for the kids and the relationships between each member of the fam. Maybe I'll make a separate post for that or maybe not! Who knows lkfwnlfqnf
Glam
Bisexual
Glam has constant nightmares and ocasional night terrors ever since he ran away home and is an active sleep walker. Ches helped him through the worse ones when they were younger, and learned how to deal with them, always preferring not to wake him up but being with him until the episode passed. Vicky has learned how to deal with them, though she normally asks Ches for advice with it cuz she comes out short sometimes.
He has PTSD. I bet it's diagnosed too, he takes medication and goes to therapy, it doesn't mean he still doesn't have his bad days anyway. He's trying to get better.
Glam has talked to Vicky about his past, his father and his family. This is a direct contradiction of Alina's confirmation that Glam doesn't talk about it with anyone but man FUCK THAT. We love good communication in this house, Vicky tries her best to help him, but there's only so much she can do to help.
Glam enjoys gardening, cooking and making models, he also likes doing his make up, painting his nails and dressing up in fancy, extravagant clothes even if he has nowhere important to go.
He likes taking care of everyone's hair, and constantly helps Vicky brush her hair cuz there's so much of it, Dee when he gets stressed over how tangled it can get, buys Ches hair products so he actually takes care of it, and chases Heavy so the kid actually washes, untangles and brushes his hair.
This one is kind of weird, but I refuse to think any adult in the family is unarmed at any time. Glam owns a taser and pepper spray. They're bright pink and sparkly.
This man cried his eyes out while watching Coco. He's hell to watch movies with cuz he talks and predicts what's gonna happen during the movie, judges them with scores at the end and all.
Vicky
Also bisexual!
Vicky's the one who does everyone's laundry most of the time. She prefers it that way since she's the only one that knows how to wash their black clothes so the colors stay vibrant. (This is based on my gf shaming everyone but Vicky cuz their black clothes always look so muted and almost gray, but Vicky's whole outfit is always the same vibrant black colors, so we decided that neither Glam or the kids know how to wash dark clothes)
She has anger issues, if it isn't obvious. I think she also has PTSD, mainly survivor's guilt due to her surviving the accident her brother died in. She blames herself and cannot bear to talk about it, in some sort of deep denial. If she can't remember, it can't hurt as much, right?
She has scars on the right side of her back and her hip, from the road rash she got on her brother's accident, she never treated it due to grief and it scarred badly. Apart from that, the scar of the caesarean section from Heavy's birth. She doesn't really mind both of them, they happened, nothing to do about them.
She likes watching boxing competitions, brawling matches and motorcycle repairing on TV. Loves doing BBQ's and going to the pool. Also an enjoyer of teasing her kids, kissing and loving her husband at random times, spending time drinking and bonding with Ches and bragging about her family and punching anyone who thinks they're not that cool.
Not particularly a fan of make up, skirts and dresses or any traditionally femenine-perceived stuff. But has been making exceptions due to Glam and Ches being unashamed of being seen as femenine, and actually rocking the looks. The internalized misogyny is kind of slowly dissapearing.
Apart from the guns she carries in each arm (I mean her biceps, have you looked at the size of those?? She strong) she has brass knuckles on her at all times. Glam gifts her new ones sometimes, she loves having multiple choices to punch people teeth in.
Loves horror, thrillers and action movies. Falls asleep during rom-coms and dramas. Ironically, loves gossip and talking shit about people. Enjoys hearing Ches talks about the gossip going on in the nursery home even if she doesn't know who the hell he's talking about.
Rest of the family under the cut!
Heavy
Heavy is a trans boy! He doesn't know his sexuality yet though, he's still figuring himself out. When he's older, i think he definitely dated some men but had better luck with girls.
Heavy has had innocent crushes on some girls on his class before, but they never turn into anything more cuz he's not the best at expressing himself. He follows the bother-the-girl-to-death-until-she-hates-you gimmick, and unsurprisingly, it doesn't work.
I'm sorry to break this to u but Heavy totally had an among us phase, and uses so much reddit and twitch slang... You know he does.
Likes bullying and teasing his brother to death. You know that when Dee had his first romance, Heavy was ALL up in his business being a tease and a bad attempt at a wingman. He means well tho.
He's not squeamish at all. Also has great pain resistance. This kid has picked cockroaches with his bare hands and loves cats, of course the cats have scratched him. He's tough!
Grows up to be the charming himbo he was always destined to be.
Dee
I hc him as demisexual. Kind of inherited his dad's tastes for the takes no crap, intimidating but pretty kind of people.
Can't cook. He tries but he can only do basics like rice, cereal, chicken nuggets or eggs. Complicated meals always burn or don't taste like anything at all. It drives him crazy.
Dee was a quiet and very well behaved toddler before Heavy was born. He never threw tantrums or got whims. After Heavy was born though, and despite the fact he understood his brother was small and needed special care, he started craving attention often and cried and got mad at little things. Typical jealousy of the oldest sibling.
The first time Dee fell in love with someone, he didn't recognize it was love at first. He just thought his interest on the person was born out of curiosity and aesthetic attraction, but as soon as he realized he seeked validation and companionship, that he liked seeing them smile, that he wanted to protect them, that he yearned for more time alone with them and that he wanted more than what just a simple friendship implied, it was an instant 'oh hell no'. He wanted those feelings to get the hell away, but unfortunately, they were there to stay.
Canonically likes MLP, psychological and horror anime like Death note and Hellsing, so I'm deciding he also watched Death Parade, had a FNAF phase, is very into The Walten Files. This guy enjoys any kind of specially dark ARG's and knows a ton of lore of real crime, unsolved cases, ghost appearances and other stuff. Doesn't believe in the supernatural, but sure is entertained by it.
He's a mess at romance. Flirting? His attempts at compliments are hardly flattering. Giving gifts? The best he can manage is jewelry and you can kind of tell he asked his dad for help. Dates? He's so nervous he's silent for most of it, but begins getting comfortable and having fun if his partner really knows how to get him down from his negativity cloud.
Ches
Pansexual.
He's very good with kids. He has the patience of a saint and he's laid-back, chill and fun but still is an authority figure who knows how to put limits. Sure, he's gonna let the kids light up a house on fire BUT hey, now they know everything about fire precautions, burns and how to treat them AND how to get away with arson. What an educational evening, am I right?
Due to certain info from the "Goodbye" official comic, I headcanon Ches as depressed. I don't want to elaborate a lot 'cuz of spoilers, but... God, everything related to his mom fucking hurts, man. How did he deal with all that?
Ches has been Dee and Heavy's babysitter so many times he cannot count them with all his fingers. He learned how to put those kids to sleep almost immediately (Sing Bon Jovi's "This ain't a love song" and any cheesy love song in a slow lullaby style and they're out), which movie were their favorite as kids (Heavy loved 'Monsters Inc.' and Dee never looked away during 'Meet the Robinsons'), how to console them after nightmares (Heavy needed reassurance, sweet words, and to be with someone until he fell asleep again. Dee just had to be tucked in, get his nightlight turned on and kissed in the forehead). He practically raised those kids along with Vicky and Glam.
More than once, Dee and Heavy have slipped and called Ches "Dad". Ches immediately gets his shit eating grin on and answers "Yes, son?" and does a couple of dad jokes just to mess and embarrass them. He's actually very flattered and surprised at how proud of himself he is for being a father figure to both kids.
Has a scar on the left side of his forehead due to a bottle his mom threw at him when he was younger, around the time he met Glam. He hates the scar with passion, it's a permanent reminder of the fact she never cared, that's why he always keeps it covered with his headband. Gets sad about it sometimes.
Ches likes to spend his time with a group of grannies of the nearby nursing home. He genuinely considers them his friends and gossips and hangs out with all of them on weekends. Bingo, billiards, walks in the park, soap opera marathons, you name it. I even designed them, gave them names and backstories... God, i just love the concept too much. I'll make some art about Ches and his granny gang FOR SURE, you're NOT ready for them.
Carries a pocket knife on him at all times. This man grew up on a bad neighborhood and absolutely knows how to defend himself, he can be intimidating when he wants to be and will pose a threat if needed. He's fucking terrifying when genuinely mad. Just cause he looks harmless doesn't mean he is, darling.
That would be all!

Why Basil isn’t “evil” or knowingly manipulative:
Warning: Major MAJOR Omori Spoilers Ahead
When people aren’t saying Sunny is a psychopath who deserves to be in jail, they’re saying Basil is an evil obsessive mastermind who tricked poor dissociating Sunny into defacing his sister’s corpse.
I’ve already explained before why I disagree with either interpretation but I haven’t gone in depth with Basil’s character. I’ll write about why I don’t think Basil is this dark yandere intentionally manipulating Sunny into dependance on him.
Basil is a tragic character with bad abandonment issues who legitimately wants to help the people he loves most. Unfortunately he also happens to have a broken “normalcy compass” (common in abused and/or neglected children). This means his well intentioned actions are often more harmful than helpful.
Aubrey says during a part of the real world segment that outside our main friend group, she’s always been an outcast. I think it’s no accident that we see in Sunny’s memories that she was the one who introduced Basil to the friend group, implying he’s also always been an outcast like her.
With Aubrey though, we can attribute her outcast status to things like living in the poorest neighborhood in Faraway town while also living in the visibly most worn-down house of said poor neighborhood.
Aubrey has a hoarding alcoholic mother that neglects her and a strict father (Aubrey casually mentions as a kid that her father is weirdly strict about her appearance) who ends up abandoning her anyway. Aubrey’s hot temper doesn’t help either and so even though she manages to be popular and well-loved among her hooligan friends, the rest of the town judges her harshly as if she’s at fault for her horrible life circumstances.
Then we have Basil. Basil’s economic circumstances are visibly better than Aubrey’s and he lives in a nice house surrounded by pretty flowers. Yet even with everything around him (even his appearance) looking so prim and cute, he’s still treated as an outcast.
We know that mentally ill children are way too often shunned by their peers and the adults surrounding them for being “weird” even though it’s not their fault that they have different brain chemistry. Without counting the bullying Aubrey carried out with her friends, Basil was already being ostracized by people outside the main friend group. In one of Sunny’s memories, Basil tells them that he’d always been alone before meeting them.
This lets us know that there’s always been “something” that’s made Basil unpopular with almost everyone. We see hints of why in the contrast between Dreamworld Basil and Real Basil. Whereas Dreamworld Basil is well-spoken, charismatic and cheerful, Real Basil is a nervous wreck that is prone to panic attacks and bouts of screaming. We could say he’s this way cus of what he did to Mari but from knowing Basil’s always been an unliked outcast, I get the feeling he’s not like this only from the Mari situation.
Then we have the probable root of his very obvious abandonment issues: Basil’s parents’ are completely absent save for some pictures in his home. Sunny himself has never seen Basil’s parents in person. Datamining apparently suggests his parents abandoned him when he was a toddler. To top it off, having a constantly ill and mostly unresponsive grandma as his only remaining family doesn’t help with his mental health issues at all, either. No wonder the kid’s clingy.
There’s also the caretaker at his house, who is introduced as Basil’s caretaker, not his sick grandmothers. Basil is at the age where he can legally emancipate himself yet we’re shown he still needs a caretaker to look after him. That Basil needs looking after kinda says to me that he has issues he can’t be left alone with.
So all these paragraphs were to explain the evidence that point to Basil likely being mentally ill since before Mari’s death. Now we get to the parts that make me think he’s been suffering from psychosis even as a kid.
12 year old Basil doesn’t seem capable of understanding the concept of Sunny being angry and accidentally shoving Mari down the stairs. He seems unable to consider the possibility that it was an argument between siblings just at the wrong place at the wrong time, as if that just can’t happen. To Basil, it HAS to be “Something” maliciously causing the incident and/or forcing Sunny to do it.
About the Mari incident and Basil’s fucked up idea: I think a lot of fans forget that first, not only was Basil a 12 year old kid back then (not even a teen yet) but also a lot of the reasoning behind many of Basil’s most important actions seems to be rooted in delusions he genuinely believes.
The same thing happens when the photo album was scribbled over: in his mind, there was no way any of his friends (*cough* Sunny) could have done this. It had to be the same “Something” attached both to him and Sunny that decided to ruin the photos. Basil doesn’t seem to remember doing anything to the album at all.
We could say all of this isn’t psychosis but metaphors for extreme denial instead, like the way Sunny decides things that remind him of The Truth don’t exist (like the closet door).
I don’t think this is all there is to it, tho.
Basil throughout the game tries to guide Sunny to the truth both in Headspace and that the time in his bathroom where he tries to talk to Sunny about the Something following them. Too afraid to hear him out, Sunny runs away instead while Basil screams for Sunny not to leave him again.
This shows imo that Basil’s brand of denial isn’t the same as Sunny’s. Sunny escapes into his own head and pretends everything involving the incident is either perpetually frozen in a time before anything bad happened or that it simply does not exist. He’s all about repression and suppression.
Basil on the other hand, acknowledges that the incident happened but he saw a Something committing the act instead of Sunny himself.
Then, the final battle against Basil confirms to me that Basil’s delusions and hallucinations go beyond denial of Sunny’s guilt.
Even when the truth is finally out in the open for the both of them, Basil still insists it’s “Something” that did everything. He attacks Sunny because he genuinely believes he is attacking Something evil and that this will protect Sunny from it. The most important detail to me: Basil slashes or gouges Sunny’s eye out specifically on the side where Somethings eye peeks out from Mari’s hair.
Saddest of all, we’re never shown if Basil ever managed to realize that there was never a monster doing everything. Although we are shown the burden of the secret is gone in that last scene between Sunny and Basil, we don’t know if Basil ever understood that Sunny wasn’t forced by any monster to kill Mari.
There’s more that can be said but this post already got long af lol. My conclusion is that Basil isn’t some evil yandere mastermind. He’s a sad wreck of a teenager who’s always struggled with mental illness, trying to do the best he can for those he loves while being plagued by nearly constant delusions and hallucinations.
Tricking his best friend/love interest isn’t part of Basil’s modus operandi when a lot of times he can barely tell what’s real and what isn’t.

WHO NEEDS SLEEP so like anyway yeah hes been caught by pico and theres a little struggle but pcnj's always been weak to pico so when pico is like "hey cool it, just come with me for a sec", pcnj is like "finally!! he'll end my miserable existence" and pico drags him... to a nice looking place, and pcnj gets Nervous because hey, this looks like a residential area, not a secondary location to kill mofos, and pico opens the door to a couple of voices who happily greet him, and pcnj is just like "oh no" and sorta blanks out and hides behind pico because this is quickly going to become Awkward 2.0 as pico explains "hey this homeless guy is my ex, and i wanted to return the favor to him since he took care of me when i was homeless for a while, so you guys wont be upset if he uses the shower and eats a bit right?" and beef and geef are on HIGH ALERT because this strange homeless man is pico's ex and WHAT IF HE TRIES TO GET PICO BACK so they're not the nicest to him, but pcnj just takes it because he wants to Get Out as soon as he can. so at pico's behest, he quickly cleans himself and tries to leave, but pico is like "hey man have a meal first" and pcnj is like "goddammit" because his dumb feelings for pico never left, and pico himself may or may not have lingering feelings as well, so its awkwardly tense in a way exes tend to be, but pico is still being nice, slips on a smile here and there, an encouraging hand squeeze every once in a while, and pcnj is mad blushing. he cant help it!! hes still stupid in love with pico, but then he sees pico kiss beef and geef, and he looks so happy with them, so content and relaxed and melty with them, and pcnj's little heart shatters some more. beef tries to rub it in pcnj's face that PICO chose them and not him, but geef is a little more hesitant. pcnj's made no moves towards pico, and instead looks more like he wants to get away from it all. he looks like a sad kitten in the rain, and she feels a little bad for him because its obvious that he still LIKES pico, but hes doing nothing about it. pico tells bf to cool it, but pcnj uses bf as an excuse to go "nono hes right, i mean, im pretty much the whole reason you got exposed right?" and the trio go silent as the words sink in, and pico stands up like "pcnj cmon that's not what happened-" but pcnj wont hear it, hes spent an entire year or so wallowing in guilt and now that's all he'll ever know, so he tells pico that hes happy that pico found people who love him, and that he hopes theyll treat and protect him a lot better than pcnj could ever do, and absconds from their place as fast as his twinky legs can carry him before pico can lunge for him again. pico's got confusing feelings, bf is a little conflicted (but not by much), and gf feels a little bad for pcnj. pcnj himself is resigned to just stay brokenhearted and homeless until he fades away somewhere where no one can find him, tired of the limelight and hoping no one ever recognizes him again
...unless? i have a bandaid to slap onto this whole situation. of course, pcnj STILL wont end up with pico, he lost boyfriend rights forever, BUT he can at least have a shitty apartment again if you're interested in this shitty bandaid i have for sale
im running outta time i'll just pitch this bandaid and you decide to keep it or not. geef goes outta her way to find pcnj because she feels bad and shes a sweet gal, she can see that pcnj means... SOMETHING to pico, she likes her chew toy to be happy, so since pcnj is homeless, the least she can do is... offer him a job? but in what? the best thing she can come up with is "social media rep for her parents" because the imps are doing a poor job managing her parents' social medias, and humans are good at social media right? right! so she finds pcnj, drags him against his will to see her father, pitches her offer to her daddykins ("please daddy please please please hire him 🥺") and dd is leery of this greasy man and hes like "how experienced are you" and pcnj's like "well im a disgraced, cancelled twitch streamer who got doxxed by nosy fans who wouldn't stay out of my business, but before that i managed my social media well enough that i had millions of fans i interacted with often enough that people knew of me in the gaming sphere" and dd is like "well that's more than the imps so i'll give you a week to try the gig out" and pcnj, who expected to be turned down, goes "you're kidding" and gf is happy for him!! now pico's other ex has a job that she helped with!! pico will be so proud of her :) but pcnj is like "no dont tell him, i might not even keep this job if i do bad" and shes like "then dont do bad? but okay :(" and pcnj ends up wandering back to the dearests everyday for a week to show off his skills, and hes surprisingly good at maintaining and managing both dd AND mm's social med platforms, so he keeps the job and gets his first paycheck which makes gf proud :) but then he accidentally runs into pico AGAIN for Awkward Exes Reunion 3.0 at the dearests, pcnj leaving a meeting with dd and pico about to enter a meeting with dd, and they both kinda stare bewildered to even SEE one another in this godforsaken mansion, and pico grabs him before pcnj can scramble away again, and tells him to just. wait, okay? they need to have a real talk for once. and pcnj, a sucker for pico always, agrees and waits for him to finish his meeting with dd. they end up having a little talk, pico telling pcnj to stop blaming himself for something he couldnt control and pcnj reminding pico that he broke up with pcnj for a reason, and pcnj himself is already disappointed and ashamed that he couldnt do the bare minimum, which was keep pico's identity safe. pico admits he did run away because he thought it was his best bet, but now thanks to gf, dd played a hand in keeping pico's identity again through demon shenanigans, so hes safe now and it's okay and could pcnj please stop avoiding him. pcnj goes "no 💜" and says that it's better that they dont see each other often, especially since pico is dating to other people, one pcnj is okay with and the other pcnj wishes would shut the hell up. pico relents but asks if they can still be friends, and pcnj agrees reluctantly before getting surprised hugged by pico, and it really hits them then just how much they missed the other
they part ways and pcnj determines to stay distant from pico regardless, and settles into renting a shitty, small apartment and works with a decent laptop that can play maybe a game or two. he never returns to streaming and keeps his identity more or less on the down low so people dont randomly recognize him. pcnj ends up doing the "i'll love you from afar and admire your smiles in secret" thing with pico, keeping his distance so that pico will never notice him, but catching enough passing glimpses that he can still love him from a mile away

albedo, childe + diluc with a little sister
just hcs on how the boys are like as big brothers, fluff/sfw
additional notes: this was requested by chiizukeeiki ! there's no character x reader here because i really only focused on how they are as older brothers! thank you for requesting ♡
Tumblr media
albedo:
along with diluc, albedo is definitely a stricter brother, and will not indulge in his sister's impulses as much as others (cough cough, kaeya and childe)
she wants sweets at an ungodly hour? he’ll patiently persuade her to go back to sleep, though he’ll make sure to surprise her with some the next day
much like with klee, albedo will have a sign on the workshop door, telling her he's too busy to play. he’ll chastise her if she randomly wanders in during an experiment, but will end up asking about her day
speaking of klee, she probably got jealous when she caught him giving his sister a piggy-back ride (for her, albedo claims they’re only saved for special occasions)
will bring her out on adventures with him (as long as she promises to be careful!), but if you thought he was cautious with klee, he's even more so with his sister
albedo and his little sister share a love of sweets, so he'll often drop by with a slice of cake or candy and a hug or two
in his sketchbooks, you'll find lots of portraits and candid drawings of his sister (unlike with kaeya, he'll spend all his time on them, with as many strokes he desires)
albedo always seems so calm and collected, but it’s only his little sister who can draw out every smile, no matter how small, or even his unexpected anger
he’ll go absolutely crazy if his precious sister goes missing. with the way he’s acting, the townspeople truly believe mondstadt is on the verge of destruction
the moment albedo finds his sister, he’ll force himself to calm down  before scolding her lightly, silently vowing to keep a closer eye on her. he doesn’t want to lose his only kin, doesn’t wish to be alone in mondstadt.
all in all, albedo as a brother is attentive and patient, always able to pick out and remember details to surprise his loved ones later
childe
you can expect childe to love and spoil his sweet little sister as much as he does with teucer, quick to buy whatever she desires and indulge in her impulses
she wants to pick flowers even though it’s practically pouring outside? childe’s already out the door, calling out “bet you can’t pick more than me.” of course, he’s piling on jackets to make sure his precious sister doesn’t catch a cold
guilt always crushes him when he can’t return to snezhnaya as often as he’d like, and childe hates to see his siblings’ crestfallen expressions, so he’ll send daily letters home, hoping to compensate for his absence
childe definitely knows how to braid hair, and will always do his sister's hair for her (he can’t help the swell of pride when he watches his sister show off the intricate braid to her friends with a beam on her adorable face)
he will play tea party (or whatever she wants) with his little sister, not only because he wants her to be happy, but also because he absolutely cannot resist the pleading eyes she directs at him. it’s a bit ridiculous, seeing a feared fatui harbinger, an instrument of war, completely fall under the mercy of an innocent child
childe also loves cooking for his siblings, even if his skills are limited. his favourite is to cook a family favourite, and watch their eyes light up as they inhale it hungrily. he’s always there to tease them about how sloppy they’re being, and carefully wipe their mouths
physical affection is a must for him! he doesn’t want them to have an older brother that’s too distant, and he secretly fears that one day, he’ll return to snezhnaya and find that his siblings regard him as a stranger.
childe will often playfully pinch his sister’s cheeks or ruffle her hair. he’ll carry her around on his shoulders when she’s tired and even twirl around with her, a smile gracing his face when he hears her giggling. his hugs are saved for special occasions, such as for birthdays or after a painful fall, always tight enough to convey his love and pride. childe only hates how his hugs now only serve as goodbyes
all in all, childe as a brother is extremely doting and dedicated, only wishing the best for his loved ones
diluc:
diluc...doesn't work well with children, the ever-present frown on his face always intimidating and scaring them away
however, the citizens of mondstadt are always in awe when they notice the rare smile that’s apparent on his face when he listens to his sister ramble about her day and all the adventures she’s been on
he's extremely protective of his sister, even more so, as she's the only family he has left. often, he’ll work in the winery while keeping an eye on his sister while she sits on the ground, scribbling drawings on paper
when she proudly presents diluc with a drawing of them, he’ll always examine it seriously and praise her. even if he can’t decipher what the drawings are meant to be, he’ll still pin them up like they’re masterpieces worth millions of mora
diluc can’t help but laugh softly when she describes his hair as “just like fire! it’s so pretty and bright, brother.”, so much awe and wonder in her voice, even if she shares the same hair colour. he’ll even allow her to play doll with his hair, to brush it out, braid it, or tuck flowers in it, whatever she fancies
when the costumers get drunk, they tend to start spewing profanity, and diluc always ensures to cover his sister's ears while shooting them a death glare. he may even consider kicking them out, who knows?
whenever his sister asks about their father, diluc lies, saying that he's on a long journey, far, far away, and won’t be back anytime soon. he doesn’t have the heart to burden her with this knowledge, doesn’t want to witness the hopeful light extinguish in her eyes
he's careful to keep her away from kaeya, convinced that he’d be a bad influence. yet kaeya still somehow worms his way in. although diluc swears he only turns away for one second, there kaeya is, swinging his sister around while she giggles
diluc doesn't say so, but it's obvious he's displeased when kaeya drops by the tavern to gift an ice figure or plush to his sister (so what if she’s technically kaeya’s little sister too?)
although kaeya always teases about diluc’s apparent soft spot, it’s true. he loves his sister fiercely, and will not hesitate to sacrifice his happiness for her sake. when he comes back from protecting mondstadt from the darkness that plagues it, he’ll always quietly slip into her room, to reassure himself that she’s still there, dozing peacefully without a single scratch on her skin
all in all, diluc as a brother is protective and stern, but his little sister will always be able to bring out his soft spot

OMORI has poor writing (Part 1)
OMORI stans, just block the #omori hate tag now because I’m going to use it to vent my frustrations with this game. If you love this game, I am not going to try to convince you otherwise. I am glad you enjoyed it so much. I am glad it means a lot to you. I’m not here to take that away from you. I honestly wish I felt the same way!
However, if you are like me and finished the game feeling disappointed, underwhelmed, and maybe a little frustrated, then I am here to say you are not alone. OMORI--while having the right set pieces for an interesting game--is a narrative mess.
I’m splitting this into two posts. This first post is about problems with the plot. The second is about problems with the message/moral.
(Note: I use “OMORI” in all-caps for the game title, and “Omori” in title case for the character name.)
Spoilers and criticism below.
Part 1: Plot Writing Lies
There’s a book by Brian McDonald called Invisible Ink which is about how to write a compelling story (you can read this great book online for free here). There’s an explanation of the writing “lie” that I find myself frequently thinking of. A “lie” in this context does not mean something is literally untrue, it means something FEELS untrue, unrealistic, improbable, or unlikely. For example, if a character gets shot in the leg but manages to do parkour, this is a “lie” since it seems unrealistic for that to happen. If a character witnesses their beloved parent’s death and shrugs it off, it’s a “lie” because that reaction seems highly unlikely.
In OMORI, the plot is held together by multiple little lies that--try as I might--I just couldn’t bring myself to believe.
1. Sunny’s friends care about him, and vice versa
A major theme of the game is how friendship can overcome any obstacle. Friendship gets Sunny over his fear of heights, spiders, and water. Friendship is what Sunny remembers before the final boss fight, and allows him to face his guilt and defeat it (and prevent him from committing suicide). With the photobook and dialogue you are reminded over and over and over and over and over again that Sunny’s friends love him unconditionally.
However, I just couldn’t bring myself to believe it. The childhood memories are cute but shallow, boiling down to simply hanging out and eating treats. Plus, Kel and Aubrey fight constantly, with Aubrey even physically hitting Kel when he steps out of line. Hero and Mari behave more like babysitters than true friends to the younger kids.
But at least the other kids interact with each other. Sunny, on the other hand, showed nearly no affection or consideration towards his friends. He floats through the memories like a ghost--he could have been completely absent from all the photos and it would have made little difference. I was ready to accept this as Sunny being an unreliable narrator and not thinking he was a good enough for his friends, but this never contradicted. Instead we are given even more memories where Sunny just silently exists there being “cute.”
Tumblr media
[Sunny enriching the lives of his friends by LARPING as a cat.]
Because of the lack of meaningful interactions between them, there was nothing in the game that made me think that these 12-15 year olds would have a strong enough bond that would survive 3-4 years of no contact after finding their friend hanged. In fact, that discovery only drove them farther apart. The only person who I could believe actually had a close bond was Basil, who almost literally filled that trope of being the friend who would help you bury a body (or in this case, help Sunny cover up the accidental manslaughter).
The writing fix for this would be simple: instead of showing us the same boring birthday and beach scenes over again, give the kids memories of overcoming some age-appropriate adversity together: heartbreak over an unrequited crush, anxiety over homework, sports injury, lost dogs, divorced parents, running away from home, bullying, etc. Set a precedent of the friends supporting each other through good times AND bad times. Without such backstory, Sunny’s friendships allegedly giving him the courage to overcome his guilt feels like a lie.
2. Sunny abandoning Basil in the bathroom scene
One of the most confusing moments in the game was Sunny’s negligence when Basil has his first breakdown in his bathroom. This part of the game is player-controlled, which is a strange writing decision because all you can do is click on Basil and various bathroom amenities over and over which completely saps the urgency out of the scene. When you try to leave, Basil begs Sunny to stay, but (due to a lack of player options) Sunny walks out without a word. With no option to talk to him OR get help for him, it makes Sunny seem exceptionally cruel to Basil. In fact, I was starting to wonder if the game was setting up for some sort of twist that Sunny DIDN’T care about his friends, which would fix some of the confusion in point #1. However, as we know, that is not the case. Therefore, Sunny’s negligence/apathy towards Basil’s pain feels like a lie.
The writing fix would be to make it MORE clear that Sunny is intentionally running away from Basil. Make it a cutscene, or, give a false choice such as “Leave Basil? Yes / Yes”. After Sunny leaves, Kel should make some remark about Sunny looking odd, “You look sort of shaken up, is there something you want to tell me?” then hit it home with Sunny shaking his head. This would make it more clear that Sunny is intentionally hiding Basil’s state, as opposed to just being a bad friend. As it stands, it just felt like a writing mistake.
3. Basil and Sunny working together to stage Mari’s death as a suicide
This is the plot hole that I see the most complaints over, but it’s so big I have to address it. Accidentally pushing Mari down the stairs I understand, but the rest is too absurd. Below are some of the “lies” that the writing tries to get away with:
That Sunny and Basil wouldn’t just claim she slipped and fell.
That either boy would even come up with this sick plan.
That they wouldn’t back out of this idea during the multi-step process (carrying her downstairs, outside, getting the jump rope, tying a noose, putting it around her neck, stringing her up, hiding the evidence... This is a series of multiple decisions, not one quick accident like the initial push.)
That it’s not the image of Mari’s death that traumatized Sunny, but the image of what they chose to do to her body that traumatized them. I understand the image of Mari hanging is more dramatic, but they literally did it themselves so why is that more haunting than Sunny killing her?
That Mari’s true cause of death wouldn’t be immediately obvious to the parents, the police, the friends, EVERYONE. (I’ve seen fans try to get rid of this plot hole by hypothesizing that the parents knew and covered it up, but the evidence of this is circumstantial at best. The father saying, “You’re not my son,” is unreliable since it happens in Sunny’s headspace. Divorce is common after the death of a child, and, at the very least, Sunny’s mom doesn’t show any evidence of knowing what happened. The way it is written, only Sunny and Basil know the truth.)
The ridiculousness of this twist is so extreme that it completely broke any immersion I had left. Frankly, the reveal that the happy, loveable Mari committed suicide is a far heavier and more realistic twist than a crazy murder-cover-up story is.
Additionally, it seems like Basil was only written into this scene in order to make Sunny the true victim of what happened. After all, Sunny may have pushed her, but it was Basil who came up with the demented cover up. (This is apparent from just the photos but the datamined Truth Album confirms it.) By having Basil come up with the plan, the game splits the guilt between the two of them to make the kids easier to sympathize with. It’s problematic because if Basil was not in the scene, there would be no way to justify what Sunny did to Mari. So why is what they did easier to accept when they worked together?
Fixing the writing lie: Sunny lies and says that Mari slipped. Remove Basil from the scene, and instead have Sunny confide in Basil which forces Basil to become a co-conspirator and burdens him with the terrible truth.
4. Sunny’s friends forgiving him and Basil for what they did to Mari
Last but not least, the story heavily implies that Hero, Kel, and Aubrey will forgive Basil and Sunny for what they did to Mari. I found this to be almost as unbelievable as the staged-suicide stunt.
It feels like a lie since the group’s friendship is never established as anything beyond shallow hang outs from 3+ years ago (see point #1).
It feels like a lie because this is hot off the heels of Aubrey being so distraught over Mari and the following fall out that in the last three days she 1.) attacked Sunny and Kel with a nail bat TWICE, 2.) Stole Basil’s photobook, and 3.) Shoved Basil in the lake. This trauma is still very fresh for her.
It feels like a lie because the complexity of the staged-suicide is so extreme, one would be hard pressed to forgive ANYONE for doing that, be it friend, foe, parent, sibling, lover, etc.
I’ve seen fans argue that the ending is not about forgiveness, it’s about telling the truth, and I want to believe that. Really. If the ending was about Sunny starting his redemption arc by telling the truth no matter what the consequences are, that would be a meaningful lesson. But the writing does not support that. The ending headspace segments are focused on assuring Sunny that his friends will support/forgive him no matter what. To do this, the game shows us the shallow photobook memories (again) to show how much they allegedly care about each other. Then, when fighting Omori, Sunny remembers these quotes from his friends, which directly correlate to their unconditional support:
KEL: Friends... Friends are supposed to be there for each other.
AUBREY: I hope you can find some peace... or you know... some happiness.
HERO: We made the mistake of leaving each other when we needed each other the most. This time... we’ll stay together.
BASIL: Maybe one day... things can go back to the way they were before.
The really direct evidence that this ending is about getting forgiveness is this quote from Basil in Sunny’s headspace:
Tumblr media
[BASIL: “AUBREY, KEL and HERO are good friends. You have to trust that they’ll forgive us.”]
This is one of the last scenes before Sunny tells his friends the truth, proving that obtaining forgiveness from his FRIENDS is in fact the leading motivation for Sunny’s actions.
Fixing this writing lie is easy. Instead, adjust the writing to be about telling the truth, not about how much the friends will still love Sunny. Have headspace Basil say, “Even if they don’t forgive us, Aubrey, Kel, and Hero deserve to know the truth. It’s the only way to make things right... or close to it.”
Conclusion
OMORI is undeniably a cute game with a strong visual identity, and has a premise that could make for a very compelling experience. However, the sloppy plot and weak character writing cause the potential of this game to be squandered. There are other issues as well that I chose not to cover for the sake of time, such as the poor pacing of the dragged out dungeons and the bizarre, unrealistic behavior of characters in the “real” world.
However, there are a few more glaring problems with OMORI that I have to address: In part 2 of my critique, I break down what may be the biggest problem with OMORI’s writing: the message.

pairing: Zoro x Reader
word count: 2k
summary: No summary this time. I´ll just say this ¨Bartholomew Kuma and Sabaody¨. Read at your own risk. Seriously, ¨KUMA AND SABAODY¨, do you understand?
highlight: ¨Everyone did their best, but no one could have done better.¨
warnings: angst with happy ending; Sabaody Archipelago spoilers (?)
notes: Hey guys! This was a request from @roronoatrash in which ¨Zoro who has 0 sense of direction seemed to always find his way back to is s/o, and his s/o only.¨. I really hope you like it!💚 This is also the first time I write a Devil Fruit user, so I'm considering a sequel to develop the character and add more humor.
Tumblr media
𝕷𝖊𝖆𝖛𝖊 𝖈𝖔𝖒𝖒𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖘, 𝖗𝖊𝖖𝖚𝖊𝖘𝖙𝖘, 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖑𝖔𝖛𝖊!
Tumblr media
It was a cloudy and melancholic day in the New World. The men on board were leisurely enjoying their afternoon; some drinking, some napping, some eating. The air was humid and cold, and the tides were strangely calm. No one seemed to care. After all, that was the New World.
¨Boss!¨ the lookout shouted from the crow's nest ¨Something is falling from the sky! It´s going to land on deck!¨
All men tilted their heads to look at the sky, watching a tiny black spot become bigger and more recognizable.
¨Is that what I think it is?¨ the captain asked himself, not believing his eyes.
¨Boss, is that a girl?¨
¨Yep, I think so.¨
They stood still watching what they suspected was a girl fall from the skies. The red-haired took a quick glimpse at his first-mate and officers, and since no one moved, he felt safe to assume that that was not a threat. Mainly because whatever was falling towards the ship looked dead already.
The body fell through the main deck and went straight to the lower level of the ship. The captain and his officers stood around the hole on the wooden floor, observing the unconscious and injured body of a girl.
¨I´ve seen some crazy things rain around here... but this is new.¨ he spoke.
They were ready to have someone dispose of the dead body when the girl opened her eyes, putting herself on her shaky legs. Blood dripped from her eyebrows and nose, and she had bruises all over. Her eyes wandered around as if she was looking for something.
¨Z-Zoro...¨ she spoke when her teary eyes met the captain´s ¨I-I need to find Zoro.¨
That was all she said before falling on her knees and collapsing.
                                                             </>
Almost a year has passed since the tragedy in Sabaody Archipelago. A year passed since you were defeated in the fight against the marine force. Your gashes closed, and your bruises healed, but there was a wound that would not go away, even after one year.
So much had happened since that day. Luffy had broken into Impel Down, fought in the Paramount War, and lost his brother, Ace. A few days later you received the hidden message he had left you, saying that you were no longer going to meet in Sabaody in three days but in two years.
It took you a while to understand the situation you and the rest of the Strawhats were in, and it took you even more to let go of your selfishness and trust them. The guilt for not being strong enough to protect yourself and your comrades ate you alive during the first weeks, but then you considered how they must be feeling too. No one could have done better.
Everyone did their best, but no one could have done better.
For one year, whenever a News Coo flew by to deliver a newspaper, you would run and grab it before anyone did, hoping to see another message from your friends. But the status of your captain was the only one you knew so far. You knew he was training with Rayleigh-san, and this whole two years thing should have been his idea.
When Bartholomeu Kuma used his Devil Fruit powers on you, you ended up landing on the ship of the Red Hair Pirates. They would always tell you how you rained on their Red Force and broke the deck floor. They said you were looking for someone, and during your stay in the infirmary, you would always call for the same person.
For months nightmares had you waking up in the middle of the night panting and crying. The same one, torturing you in an infinite and merciless loop.
Every detail, color, and noise. Everything was so precise and clear in your head.
When he fought still injured from the last encounter with the Shichibukai; when he stood up and faced the Warlord fearlessly. Even with the damages caused by Kizaru and the Pacifistas, he stood up.
And maybe your eyes fooled you, maybe your exhausted body played a sick trick on you because he was there until he wasn´t.
Right in front of your eyes.
His cropped green hair and tanned skin, the vibrant red and white striped shirt, the scar across his chest, the haramaki, and the swords. Gone, simple as that.
But after all the training that you had with the Red Hair Pirates, you seemed more in peace with yourself. After one year, the nightmares would bother you only every once in a while. You were not prepared for the New World before, maybe still aren´t, but you will get there.
And they made everything easier. It was no mystery why Luffy liked them so much. Whenever you were not engaged in a fight or some other Emperor crap, those guys were incredibly light-spirited. And the moment they realized you were part of Luffy´s crew they treated your wounds and welcomed you onboard.
Shanks agreed to have his men training you, but he made very clear that no one would babysit you, so it was ¨keep up or keep out.¨. You spent most of your time with Yassop, Benn, or Roux, for they were the best in the abilities you exercised.
Inside the Strawhats you were a stealth agent, mostly because of your Devil Fruit, the Nagi Nagi no Mi, once possessed by a Marine Commander. Another Supernova, the Surgeon of Death Trafalgar Law had told you that before shit broke in Sabaody.
You used that combined with your fighting skills to breach the enemy´s first line of defense before they saw you coming. Usually, Usopp would assist you with the sniper training, trade he ¨learned from a friend¨, Sogeking.
His father was an extraordinary sniper, and he used the same kind of firearms as you, differently than Usopp´s slingshot. Benn´s combat skills were remarkable, and Roux was exceptionally fast for a man his size. You haven´t had a lot of opportunities to fight the Red Hair himself, though you had a strong will, his Haki was something you have never seen before.
¨We´re going to a bar, kid. You´re coming?¨ Benn asked you with his cigarette on his lips.
You pondered a little over his invitation but decided to decline it. ¨Thanks, Benn, but I´m keeping a low profile tonight.¨ He nodded and smiled, turning to follow his crewmates ¨Don´t drink too much, we have training tomorrow!¨
The first mate laughed shortly and spoke without looking at you ¨Roger that, kid.¨
You walked the opposite way, wandering between the vegetables and gimmicks tents, feeling the kind sunset kiss your skin. There was some music playing, kids running around with ice cream in their hands, laughing loudly and happily. Marketers were announcing their prices, housewives were thinking about delicious recipes to prepare for their families, and couples would sit together around the font, swearing love to each other.
Every day was like that. The citizens would wish their neighbors ¨good morning¨ from their windows; bakers would open the doors early, letting the delightful smell of fresh bread wake up those who slept in.
How could you, in the middle of all that happiness, feel so sad and lost?
You sighed and made a route change. Maybe you needed a little bit of booze.
The island where Shanks had decided to dock was in the Grand Line, a place where they were known and welcomed. So you knew where they were, and it would be a short walk to get there.
¨Y/N?¨
You turned automatically, thinking that a crew member had gotten lost and was looking for his captain - or boss, how he likes to be called.
But when you saw the man standing in front of you, everything stopped. The music, the kids, and the love promises.
At some point, you started to cry and hyperventilate, believing you were in another nightmare, and you would have to go through that day all over again. Your lover carried pain in his eyes as well, like his fears were the same as yours.
Those minutes you stared at each other felt like hours while you kept every detail of him in your memory. His hair was slightly longer, and his complexion was paler, even with the sunset painting his skin.
¨Z-Zoro...¨ you whispered shakily.
He gave a step forward ¨Y/N... it´s you...¨
You ran in his direction as soon as your name fell out of his mouth. Your arms embraced his neck, and your legs gave up when he held you tight against his body, whispering comforting words as you broke into tears.
¨I...¨ nothing but sobs came out.
¨I know... me too.¨ he fondled your hair and hid his face in the curve of your neck. And there stood the both of you, not wanting to let the other go.
                                                          </>
¨How did you know I was here?¨ you asked and he blushed a little.
¨I didn´t... I had to buy stuff for the castle, and I got lost.¨ a loud laugh came out of your mouth. It was so obvious, how didn´t you guess that?
¨They didn´t give you a log pose?¨
¨They did, but I took a nap and when I woke up, I was here.¨
You spent the rest of the day cuddling on the beach sand. Zoro was laying on his back, and you were resting on his chest. You had one year worth of conversation to catch up on, and neither of you rushed to do so. He told you about Mihawk, the creepy island in which the only native habitants were copycat human drills, the boat he destroyed, and even how he begged the Warlord to train him.
The sun had started to hide behind the sea, and the warm sand was cooling down. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore together with the salty breeze made you question if you had died at some point, and that was heaven.
¨You´re paler.¨ he chuckled.
¨It´s not very sunny where I´m living.¨
¨Hm...¨ you hummed ¨And how long did you take to figure out Luffy´s message?¨
¨Oh...¨ he thought for a second ¨ I knew right away.¨ you giggled and doodled on his chest with your finger.
You felt his chest go up and down as he let out a sigh.
¨I missed you, Y/N.¨ he hugged you tighter.
¨I missed you too.¨ you stayed in silence for a few minutes ¨Anyway, when are you setting sail again?¨ You asked him softly, and he tensed up. ¨I know... ¨ your lips began to tremble ¨ I don´t want to go either, but what happened in Sabaody... I don´t want that to happen ever again.¨ you bit your lip as tears started to roll on your cheeks.
He wiped the tears with his fingers and pulled you closer. None of you wanted to part ways again, but not only those were your captain´s order that was your future. If something like that happens again in the New World, a two-year separation would be the best scenario possible.
¨It won´t. I promise.¨
When the night came, you decided to stay on the beach and talked until you fell asleep under the stars. The best sleep you´ve had in a long time. No nightmares, no agony, and no pain. Just the warmth and peace you missed so much.
On the following morning, you helped him get the provisions for Mihawk´s castle. You toured around the city holding hands and joking, kinda like the couples sitting by the font, enjoying every second you had before he left.
If he didn´t get lost trying to go back to Kuraigana Island, it would be a quick trip. You assisted him with the bags and walked him to his boat. Your heart ached to say goodbye to him, but you had to. The circumstances were bigger than the two of you.
¨I love you, Zoro.¨ you hugged him and tried not to cry again.
¨I love you more, Y/N.¨
¨Careful with the naps, ok?¨ he chuckled and nodded ¨One year. We´ll meet again in one year.¨
¨Wait for me. I´ll go get you, and we´ll return to Sabaody together.¨
¨But how will you know where I will be?¨
¨It doesn´t matter where you´ll be. I´ll always find you.¨

Odinson M.D. (Loki x reader) Pt. 1
I’m excited for this series honestly. I’m doing a lot of research so I write this medically correct tho, if yall see anything wrong don’t be afraid to tell me ^^
Tumblr media
Summary: Y’all wanted a House AU so here it is. Loki is a doctor who keeps most people at bay with his sharp wit and sarcasm. He doesn’t understand the need for romantic ploys and casual human discussion. He thrives in the hospital, trying to figure out the unknown, even if his methods turn a bit morally ambiguous at times. That’s why he has Thor and Frigga to keep him in line although he would argue he has no need for it. You just happen to be a doctor on tenure under Loki’s tutelage along with Steve Rogers and Peter Parker. Can you convince the jaded doctor you’re just what he needs to keep him on his toes?
Loki feels the, what had started as pin pricks now, full blown boredom eating away at his overactive mind. He folds sticky notes, from his rolling chair, into small balls and flicks them over to his brother, Thor, who stands fiddling with a broken, plastic Santa sitting on the desk they hang around. Thor proudly wears his white lab coat on top of a nice plaid button down and brown, pressed slacks. Loki prefers to stick to his more casual clothes, if not a bit fashionable for casual, for a doctor. He wears a black cashmere sweater with gray, pressed slacks, a nice pair of oxfords to finish his style. It’s enough to keep him warm during the winter season.
Christmas, such a mainstream holiday. Loki abhors this season what with all the festive cheer and decorations that litter NYC. You can’t walk two feet without being guilted into giving money to the people who stand on corners with bells for the Salvation Army. You can’t buy something nice without a cashier smiling at you, as if all knowing, and asking who you’re giving this gift to with cheerfulness in their high pitched voices. What he especially hates is that Odin expects him to show up to the family dinner every Christmas, seeing as Thor has a wife and has to spend half his time with her family. Loki is the black sheep that’s expected to pick up where his brother has neglected. All in all, Loki would demolish this one holiday from existence if he had the even the slightest chance.
The only good thing about being a doctor was that meant he could get away from most of the holiday by working through it. He couldn’t always escape the dinners seeing as his mother, Frigga, was of administration and Dean of Medicine on his floor. Not only did that hinder him but his father owned the hospital, so he was at a disadvantage, if only by a bit.
“We are condemned to useless labor.” Loki sighs out, his fingers playing with another yellow sticky note, crushing it into a ball.
“Fourth circle of hell,” Thor replies with a roll of his eyes as a paper ball launches towards him, hitting him in the cheek before falling to the ground. “Charting goes a lot faster when you eliminate all classic poetry, brother.” Thor says lightly. A suggestive twitch of his lips all Thor gives to a bored Loki.
Loki takes time from making paper balls to look over at the pile of charts next to him, sitting on the clinic’s lobby desk, waiting for his attention. He’s sure if the charts came to life they would resemble a dog, desperate for attention, wagging its tail with excitement when he finally looks at it. “Writing down what we already know to be read by nobody,” Loki brings his attention back to making another paper ball, completely ignoring the fact that Thor had rolled his eyes so hard he probably has a headache. “Pretty sure Dante would qualify that as useless,” Loki says lightly, a frown on his lips.
“You’re two weeks behind on your charting!” Thor says with exasperation, stopping his fiddling with the Santa to look at Loki as if he had offended Thor personally.
Loki flicks another ball at Thor, however he misses his target and, it sails past Thor, hits Frigga on the chest whom had just walked into the clinic. She watches the paper fall to the ground, giving Loki a look of disappointment. The man gives his mother an innocent smile from his seat. “Oops! I missed.”
“Are you eight years old?” The poised woman asks with a squint in her eyes as she walks over to the side of the desk Loki and Thor reside at. She picks up one of Loki’s charts and reads it with flickering eyes.
“Could an eight year old do this?” Loki asks, catching Frigga’s eyes, and sticks his tongue out at his mother who rolls her eyes. What is it about Loki that causes everyone to roll their eyes? Something he’ll never get the answer to, not because he can’t but because he doesn’t care enough to find the answer when it’s so painfully obvious.
Loki’s mother lifts Loki’s chart, she had picked up, a little higher as if trying to garner Loki’s attention, after she had finished reading through it, and looks at him with frustration. “You have a patient in exam one, Loki.”
Loki settles further into the rolling chair, throwing the pad of sticky notes on the desk, bringing his hands together over his stomach and lacing his fingers. Loki embodies the epitome of comfort and relaxation. He shrugs. “Yes but see I’m off at twelve and it’s already five off...” He shakes his head minutely with a look that says ‘Not much I can do’. He’s rather hoping his mother will let him off the hook this one time. He knows she has a soft spot for him and takes full advantage of that. Thor remains quiet on the matter, playing with the plastic Santa that’s supposed to sing when you press its button.
“She’s been waiting for you since eleven.” Frigga says with finality. Setting his chart down, Loki swears he could hear a gravel slamming down, and then she leaves but not without a pointed look at Loki. This meant Loki isn’t getting away this time. He sits there with his lips pursed and a frown etched into his eyebrows as he watches her retreating form.
“Melancholy without hope, which circle is that?” Loki pointedly asks Thor who looks at him with a sympathetic look only causing Loki to scoff and rolls his eyes as he stands, grabs his cane, and makes his way towards exam room one.
Loki limps into the room, already conscientious about his gold and green cane, making sure it doesn’t hit the wall as he slips into the exam room.
Looking back Loki doesn’t regret the choices his made on the cane. The man liked attention from the right people. He hates most casual people seeing as he usually finds them boring, predictable, and the need for small talk not something he takes much joy from. The cane definitely stood out and was the starter of conversation for common man that passed him by, unfortunately. This wasn’t enough to make Loki regret his ostentatious picks on his cane though.
The cane itself is light but durable. The stabilizer at the bottom had four anti-slip feet, covered by a wide quad base, all black and shiny. The cane, in all its glory, was emerald green, specifically requested by Loki, and had snakes engraved in the metal base. The snake outline, repeated around the entire cane, were then dusted in gold and, shined pretty and proper when in the sun. The snakes that run from the bottom to the top, run up the cane with open mouths as if devouring the brethren that followed up the last snake. When they reach the top of the cane, the handle’s edge, they stopped. The handle itself was covered in pure gold. The inside of it was carbon so it was lighter to carry but still very durable. The handle was fashioned after the head of a Black Mamba. Sleek and slim but one of the deadliest, most venomous snakes in the world. A symbol of Loki’s true power, or at least that’s what he told anyone that asks. In all honesty, Loki had picked the Black Mamba head because he thought it looked cute. He had a reputation to uphold, however.
Loki pushes his way into the exam room to find three nuns, one on the medical bed with two nuns on each side. As he closes the door he turns his head so he may let his eyes go wide without the women seeing his exasperated look. He turns his head back after the door is closed and he reins in his emotions.
“Hi, I’m doctor Odinson,” Loki supplies the three women, setting his cane aside in the room and looking up at the women with a small tilt of his lips. “What seems to be the problem?” He asks the woman sitting on the bed.
“Show him your hands, Augustine,” One of the sisters demands of Augustine, the woman on the bed Loki tabs in his head.
As the woman shifts the cloth covering her hands Loki takes the time to pop a pain pill into his mouth, swallowing without water if only because he’s been taking them for years for his disability. The use of the word disability is new, seeing how he didn’t take to the word too kindly in the beginning. As of now, he has accepted it for what it is and calls it as it should be, a disability. Something that may hinder him but does not define who he is or ever shall be.
Sister Augustine lifts her hands in front of her and they shake a bit as she holds them out for Loki to examine. They look raw, red, and as if they’re wet but in reality it’s because they’re covered in an ointment and severe rash. They’re pruned as if they spent too much time in water. When she turns over her hands to show him the palms he notes that they’re also raw and red, but more so and bleeding probably from scratching.
“It looks like stigmata.” The sister on the right of Augustine needlessly announces to Loki, or possibly to no one in particular. The other sister on the left shushes at her. Loki has to resist the urge to roll his eyes at her remark. Of course this ignorant nun would condemn her sister for something as simple as an allergic reaction. She finds the rash to be a form of disgrace on her sister. Typical.
Loki steps forwards, his eyes on her hands, “Must be all the talk around the holy water cooler.” He lightly supplies the three sisters with a joke to break the tension that had risen from the sister’s remark of stigmata. His eyes come to rest on her hands and as he reaches up to hold them in his own says, “You been washing a lot of dishes lately?” Loki glances up at sister Augustine’s aloof face.
“I help out in the kitchen.” Augustine replies.
“Anything new in the kitchen?” Loki asks, trying to pinpoint what’s causing the rash.
“We just got a donation of pots and pans this week.” The nameless nun tells Loki which supplies Loki with an answer for her reaction. Dish soap, pots and pans wouldn’t have caused such a reaction.
“I unpacked and washed them.” Augustin gives Loki, trying to help him out.
“Should have spent your time saving souls,” Loki says, his natural sarcasm coming over him, “It’s easier on the hands.” He says with a face that could be taken as contrite but is actually irony. “This is contact dermatitis. You’re allergic to dish soap.” Loki tells the nuns, his mind bored with how easy this diagnoses is.
As Loki turns to write down his report in the chart one of the nameless nuns speaks up. “Nonsense! We’ve always used that soap, why would it be a problem now?” She asks Loki.
Loki lets his head tilt back as he looks at the ceiling with a playful look on his face. “I’ve been a doctor for years,” He looks at the nun who spoke up, “Why do I have to keep assuring people I know what I’m doing?” He asks rhetorically. Not only talking about the nuns, Loki thinks of the many times where he has had to convince his own mother, and brother, that he knew what he was doing, going so far as to proving it.
“A person can become allergic to substances they’ve had repeated and prolonged exposure to.” Loki explains, his eyebrow raising perfectly, as if asking if the sisters had any other remarks to make before he looks down at the chart for Augustine to write his report real quick.
Loki then makes his way to the cabinet and picks out a small box inside of it. “Good news is, free samples!” He gives a fake smile, and excited tone, to the nuns. “I’m giving you an antihistamine to stop the allergic reaction,” He explains his process. “Take one every eight hours, might make you sleepy, and get some over the counter Cortisone cream, for the itchiness.” Loki looks at sister Augustine to make sure she understood his words, nodding at her when she gives an understanding nod, then handing her two pills from the box he had pulled from the cabinet.
“Thank you, doctor.” Augustine says with a small smile and nod.
“Want me to get some water?” Loki asks the women.
“I have some tea!” A nameless nun says, grabbing her thermos and giving it to Augustine.
Loki nods at the nun and backs up to pick up the chart. “Relax for a minute, the pills work pretty fast.” Then he leaves the room thinking he is done for the day in the clinic, thank god.
Loki throws the chart on top of his other charts he had left on the desk with Thor, in the lobby, and sighs as he limps around the desk and to Thor’s side.
“Still out by twelve.” Thor says, more so to grate on Loki’s nerves than anything.
Loki lets it go but replies, “How do you solve the problem of dermatitis.”
“Doctor? I want to thank you for your patience.” A sister says interrupting the conversation Loki was about to have with Thor. One of the sisters from Augustine’s side now stands in the clinic’s lobby with Loki and Thor. Her face showing she genuinely means it.
Loki manages to give Thor a disparaging look when he asks, “She talking to you?” As if shocked Loki was getting any kind of compliment. Loki can’t fault him there, he isn’t used to getting compliments either. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t bask in it but it is a little uncomfortable.
“I don’t know, she’s certainly looking at me...” Loki says back to Thor, shifting his weight from foot to foot in discomfort. He turns, watches, as the sister makes her way over to him, standing a little over a foot away. Enough distance to be comfortable since she is a stranger but a little too close for Loki’s comfort anyways. He hates people, so physical, so sentimental.
“It’s so good to get a secular diagnosis.” The nun offers Loki with a gratified look on her face, her body swaying with her words like she really means them.
Loki feels the frown come over his face and he tilts his head down at the sister.
“The sisters tend to interpret their diagnosis as divine intervention.” The nun explains to a bewildered Loki.
“And you don’t?” Loki asks, his voice not betraying his confusion but it’s definitely there. This sister is very...different from regular nuns, he can already tell. Her ideologies being promulgated so plainly are leaving Loki in an almost disoriented state. “Then you’re wearing an awfully funny hat.” Loki says, his sarcasm coming out to hide his true feelings on this whole conversation. The sister merely tilts her head with a look that says ‘Very funny’.
“Oh boy.” Thor whispers behind Loki. Loki can feel him shifting as if he wants to escape this situation just as much as Loki. “Excuse me.” Thor says grabbing all his charts and reports so he may make a swift exit. Loki glances back at Thor, his face now shifting from its usual neutrality to a look of perplexity and a hint of longing as he wants to leave too. Loki looks back to the sister, hiding his emotions again as she speaks.
“If I break my leg I believe it happened for a reason. I believe God wanted me to break my leg,” The sister says, her face showing nothing short than utter earnestness that almost makes Loki gag. “I also believe he wants me to put a cast on it.” The sister finishes causing Loki’s lips to twitch upwards and forget his brief nausea. He likes her, something no one that truly knew him would take lightly.
“Doctor! Something’s wrong!” The other sister says loudly as she races into the lobby. This breaks the little moment the sister was having with Loki and he stands at attention.
They all make their way back to exam room one with hast in their steps and Loki’s limp.
When Loki enters the room he finds Augustine to be hunched over, rapidly breathing but the air is filled with wheezes as if she can’t get breath into her lungs. Loki quickly tabs this as an asthmatic attack but grabs his stethoscope and brings it up to her chest. “Lift up your chin.” He demands softly, letting the stethoscope land on her chest when she does and moves it from the left to the right side listening to her lungs and heart as she panically breathes in faster.
“Sister you’re having an asthma attack, I need you to relax,” Loki drops the stethoscope from her chest, taking it from his ears, and turns to the drawers in the room, “Roll up her sleeve, please.” He demands of the sister next to him. He quickly picks up an syringe from the drawer he opened and turns back to sister Augustine. “I’m going to give you epinephrine,” He explains. “It will open your lungs and help you breathe.”
Loki uncaps the shot, by mouth, and quickly sticks the sister’s arm, injecting the liquid components of the epinephrine into her upper arm with fluid movements as if he’s done this a thousand times before, because he has.
Loki looks up at sister Augustine to assess the situation. The cap of the needle still in his mouth which he lightly grinds around with his teeth, almost nervous but not quite.
Everything is quiet for a moment. Loki takes this time to remove the needle from the sister’s arm and replace it with a cotton ball which he presses to her skin with moderate strength to stop any blood flow that may have followed the intrusion.
“What happened?” One of the sisters ask.
Loki foregoes the answer to that question to ask his own, “Did she take the pill?” He looks at the sister next to him, the one that had warned him of the situation and had stayed behind with sister Augustine. The one that had called it stigmata.
“Yes.” She says in a tone that betrays confusion and defensiveness.
“It’s an allergic reaction.” Loki explains ignoring the sister’s emotions at his question.
“She’s allergic to an anti-allergy medicine?” The same sister asks in an incredulous tone now.
Sister Augustine sits there taking in small mouthfuls of air, as if she now understands breathing is a commodity. Her body is still hunched over as she grabs at the medical bed with a white knuckled grip. Loki looks at her sympathetically. “How are you feeling?” He asks thinking about what variations he can use to treat her allergic reaction on her hands now that the blood rushing experience is over. “I’ll put you on some steroids instead.” He decides out loud, capping the syringe he used and throwing it away in the designated red safety box.
“Is my heart supposed to be feeling so funny?” Sister Augustine asks breathlessly, Loki watching as she brings a hand up to grab at her chest.
“It’s called adrenaline, makes the heart beat fast.” Loki says flippantly but puts two fingers on her pulse point on her wrist just to check if it’s something worth looking into. Loki looks at Augustine with concern, his eyes flitting around the room in thought, “But not this fast.”
Sister Augustine takes in a deep breath, wheezing again.
“Get a nurse, please.” He tells one of the sisters in a calm but pressing tone.
Sister Augustine leans into Loki’s body with a whimper and he grabs her so he may lightly rest her on the bed in a supine position. He leans over her watching her and trying to figure out what’s wrong, what could possibly be causing this, and how to fix it, fast.
“Somebody help!” Loki hears the nun call outside the room.
His attention is diverted when sister Augustine passes out. He quickly puts the stethoscope in his ears and puts the diaphragm on her chest, checking for her heart beat first, then her lungs. There is no comforting beat to be heard and her breathing has completely stopped as if it never existed, pulling this situation from a simple allergic reaction to something far, far more serious than Loki had anticipated.
“Somebody get in here!” Loki yells out frustrated no one has answered their calls for help. Finally a nurse in blue scrubs comes in, realizing the situation is of immediate emergency and looks at Loki so she may help.
“Call a code and charge up the defibrillator, she’s got no pulse.” He says speedily, starting to perform CPR on sister Augustine. The nurse flees from the room in record time to grab a defibrillator and yell at someone to call a code blue.
Loki manages CPR for a few minutes until the defib team comes in and takes over. They only barely manage to bring sister Augustine back to life.
Loki stands at the doorway, the two other sister next to him praying, he bites at his thumb. His mind is racing with the need for an answer. What caused this? What was he missing? It’s an allergic reaction, there’s no doubt about that, nonetheless he can’t figure out why everything he tried sent her into further shock. She couldn’t possibly have been allergic to everything he gave her, antihistamine and epinephrine. There is a factor here that he doesn’t know about, something is missing, and he would figure it out if it was the last thing he did.
Loki barely glances at one of the sisters as they take a drink from a thermos before going back to saying their Hail Mary’s.

Alexandria’s eyes fluttered open as the early morning sun peeked through the curtains of the bedroom she shared with Liam. She softly smiled as her eyes traveled down her body that was currently wrapped and tangled in the bedsheets, landing on her exposed bump. Liam lay at the end of the bed with his hand resting on top of her belly as he softly whispered to it.
“... I know your mommy has done a wonderful job keeping you safe and comfortable in there, but you’re already four days late. We’ll have to work on your punctuality.” Alexandria couldn’t stop the giggle that escaped her. Liam glanced up and smiled sheepishly. “I’m sorry, my love, did I wake you?”
“No,” she chuckled, reaching down and running her fingers through his hair.
Liam crawled up the bed next to her and leaned down, placing a soft kiss on her lips. “Breakfast?”
“Yes … but I need to get up first … they’re sitting right on my bladder.”
Liam chuckled and stood from the bed. He reached down and helped Alexandria up; her large belly made it nearly impossible for her to do it herself, not without a massive struggle that left her out of breath.
Alexandria was now four days past her due date. She and Liam, along with their friends and the rest of the country, were growing restless as they awaited the arrival of the crown prince or princess. The doctor had assured the King and Queen that the baby was perfectly healthy and that going over the due date was normal and nothing to worry about.
In the months since finding out she was pregnant, Liam and Alexandria had spent time preparing for everything that they could. The nursery was put together, they had read all the books, and they had listened to any advice given. And Liam had grown increasingly more protective over his Queen and the precious cargo she was carrying. He frequently checked on her, made sure she was doing nothing that he would consider to be too much, and anything she asked for, she received.
Alexandria didn’t stop Liam. She often smiled and shook her head at how overwhelmingly cautious he had become and at how much he worried over the littlest things. He was utterly endearing, and despite the not-so-pretty side effects of pregnancy, she wouldn’t have traded a single minute of experiencing it with him by her side. Seeing him already a doting father made her heart swell, and even more anxious for their little arrival to finally make their appearance.
During the pregnancy, Liam and Alexandria had continued working through everything that had happened just over a year prior.
Alexandria worked on letting go of the guilt she was still holding onto. Despite what others told her, Liam included, that was her biggest obstacle to get over. She struggled initially, questioning if there was a way she could have known, if there was something that she missed -- other than the obvious. After months of working through it, she was finally in a place where she was able to say that, no, none of what happened was her fault.
Liam worked through the betrayal of his father and what he had done to his mother. He often wondered how different not only his life would have been, but Seth’s as well had they had a relationship; if they had grown up together instead of being ripped apart at birth. There were a lot of what if’s that he worked to let go of over the past year, knowing that in the end, none of them mattered.
****
After breakfast and showers, Liam headed to his study to do a little work while Alexandria waddled her way through the corridors. She was told walking could help move things along, so walking is what she had been doing the past few days, among other things she and Liam had been trying. On top of the walking, she had more than her fair share of spicy foods, and she and Liam had been more than productive elsewhere.
While walking, Alexandria heard a sound that caught her attention. She glanced up to see Drake down at the end of the hall, making beeping noises as he signaled with his hands as though he was directing her. “You’re such an asshole,” she chuckled as she shook her head.
Drake let out a bark of laughter as he walked up to her. “Feeling ok?”
“As best a beached whale can be expected to feel, I suppose.”
“Stop it,” he chuckled. “Pregnancy looks good on you. What do they always say … you’re simply glowing!” he spoke in a mocking tone.
“Well, thank you,” Alexandria smiled. “What are you up to?”
“Nothing. Just walking around.”
Alexandria stopped and looked up at Drake. “Liam sent you to check on me, didn’t he?”
“Yes, he did,” Drake nodded with a grin.
“He’s such a worrywart,” she shook her head.
“He is, but he’s also so excited that I think he may burst,” Drake chuckled.
Alexandria laughed but then stopped walking. She pressed her hand against her belly while her other hand went to the wall to steady herself as she looked down. “Uh, Drake … I think I just burst …”
Drake’s eyes went wide at the small puddle at Alexandria’s feet. “Holy shit! Uh … ok, ok, ok … um, it’s gonna be ok!”
Alexandria slowly looked up at Drake, seeing the panic in his expression. “Just call Liam.” Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain that started in her lower abdomen and shot right around to her back. She doubled forward, and her face grimaced in pain. “NOWWWWW!” she groaned through gritted teeth.
****
Hours later, Liam sat at Alexandria’s bedside in the hospital, holding her hand as she squeezed it tightly, helping her through another contraction. Because of her low blood pressure, Alexandria had been unable to get an epidural and was going through the labor au naturale. Her hair was matted, and her neck, chest, and forehead were flushed and glistening with sweat.
“You’re doing great, my love. I’m so proud of you …” Liam’s voice trembled as he whispered in her ear once the contraction had subsided.
“Liam, if you cry … I’m going to cry,” her voice cracked. “So, I’m going to need you … to pull yourself together.”
Liam tearfully smiled as he kissed her temple. “I’m sorry … I just don’t like seeing you in pain.”
“Well, this pain is necessary … to get this little one out. So … it’s the good kind of pain,” she replied through gasped breaths. She gripped Liam’s hand and screamed as another contraction ripped through her.
Just then, the doctor came into the room. “How are we doing, Your Majesty?”
“They’re coming closer together,” Liam answered for Alexandria, who was unable to speak at the moment as she caught her breath.
“Let’s check and see how far you’ve progressed.” The doctor gloved up his hand and checked Alexandria. “You’re about … 7 centimeters. Hopefully, it won’t be too much longer, ma’am.”
****
“Liam … I don’t think … I can keep doing this. I’m so tired.” Alexandria had just worked through another contraction. She covered her eyes with her hand as her shoulders began to shake with silent sobs. It had been hours, and she was completely exhausted.
“Hey.” Liam leaned down, removing the cool cloth he had placed on her forehead to press a soft kiss there. “You can do this, Alex. You’re the strongest, most incredible woman I’ve ever known, and you’ve done absolutely amazing so far.”
“Stop sweet-talking me,” she cried.
Liam smiled. “No sweet talk. Just the truth.” Alexandria looked at him with a fatigued expression, and he brushed his hand across her cheek. “If I could trade places with you, I would in a heartbeat, love. But you’re so close … I know you can do this.” Alexandria gave him a determined nod, and he leaned down, pressing a kiss to her lips. Just as they parted, another contraction came. Alexandria cried out as she squeezed Liam’s hand with a crushing grip. “I’m here, love. Breathe …”
As Liam helped Alexandria through her contraction, the doctor came in to recheck her. He smiled at the King and Queen. “10 centimeters. Are you ready to meet your little prince or princess?”
“Yes,” they both replied in unison.
The doctor chuckled. “Alright. Sir, I’m going to have you help her sit up a bit and slide behind her.”
Liam nodded and rose from his chair at her bedside. He helped Alexandria sit up and positioned himself behind her so her back was resting against his chest. Alexandria immediately grabbed hold of Liam’s hands, threading their fingers together and squeezing; he could tell she was nervous. “I’m right here,” he whispered in her ear.
“On your next contraction, I need you to push, ma’am.”
Within moments Alexandria gave her first push.
****
Forty-five minutes later, Alexandria dropped back against Liam’s chest. “They’re never coming out,” she cried, shaking her head as her tears fell; her body was covered in a sheen of sweat as she gasped for breath.
“We’re almost there, love. I know you’re tired, but it’s almost over.”
“Ma’am, give me everything you’ve got on this next push, and it should be your last. One big one. Ready …”
Alexandria gripped Liam’s hands and lurched forward as she pushed. After a moment, instant relief suddenly filled her body, and she fell back against Liam’s chest. A few seconds later, they heard the tiny cry for the first time.
“Congratulations, Your Majesties. It’s a girl.” The doctor held up the baby -- their baby -- and Liam and Alexandria both stared at her in astonishment.
Alexandria turned her head back to look at Liam; she reached her hand up and wiped the tears from his cheek as her own fell. Liam leaned down and kissed her softly. “I love you so much,” he whispered against her lips. “I’m so proud of you. You were incredible, Alex.”
The doctor finished up with Alexandria, and a moment later, the nurse came over with the baby, laying her down against her chest. “We’ll give you two some time with her before we move you to your room in the maternity unit.” The doctor and nurse stepped out, leaving them alone with the baby.
“Liam …” Alexandria choked out as they both stared down at her in awe.
Liam couldn’t wipe the smile from his face, feeling his heart swell with more pride than he thought possible. “Hello, princess,” he tearfully whispered as he stroked her cheek with his finger. “I’m your daddy.” She was perfect and already had him wrapped around her tiny finger.
Alexandria brushed her thumb across her forehead before gently pushing up the tiny pink hat that she wore. She had a full head of dark hair. “Look at all of her hair,” she tearfully chuckled, and Liam grinned. “She’s beautiful,” Alexandria smiled, wiping the tears from her eyes with the back of her one hand while the other rested against the baby’s back.
“Just like her mother.” Liam kissed Alexandria’s cheek before she rested her head against him; her body was feeling the effects of the hours and hours of labor. The two sat in silence as they stared at the baby, both feeling an overwhelming sense of love. “We need to choose a name for our princess,” Liam broke the silence.
Alexandria gently shifted the baby from her chest to cradle her in her arms, and she stared thoughtfully down at their daughter. Only one name came to mind, and she smiled. “Eleanor.” She heard Liam let out a soft breath, and she turned her head back to look at him.
Even more emotion filled his eyes as they looked down at the little girl in his wife’s arms before moving to meet her gaze. “That would be a great honor to my mother.”
“I think it suits her.”
“Me too.” Liam reached his hand up and wiped his cheeks before resting it down on top of Alexandria’s. “It’s perfect. She’s perfect.”
****
Alexandria had been moved to a private room in the maternity unit. Drake, Olivia, and Maxwell all stopped by to meet Eleanor. Even Uncle Leo even made a surprise visit. Before heading to the palace, he offered to take on some of Liam’s workload during his visit to allow him time to spend with the newest addition to their family.
Now it was just Liam and Alexandria alone with Eleanor, marveling at her as they took turns holding her.
Liam couldn’t get enough. He couldn’t stop looking at her, memorizing every little detail from her small button nose, her full head of hair, down to her tiny fingers and toes. He had heard of the term “over the moon” and was feeling exactly that.
Bastien, who had come in to meet the newest member of the royal family, watched Liam fawn over his daughter. He held her in his arms as he walked around the room with the tiny bundle in his arms, unable to wipe the smile from his face.
Shortly after Liam had laid Eleanor down in her cot, a knock came on their door. Bastien opened it and the nurse stepped inside. “We’re going to take the princess to the nursery to do her hearing screening,” she smiled.
Liam and Alexandria both nodded. “Liam, go with her.”
“Ok,” he smiled. He rose from the edge of the bed and turned, pressing a kiss to Alexandria’s forehead. “We’ll be right back. Try and get a little rest, my love.”
Liam pushed the small cot holding Eleanor down the hall as he walked with the nurse and Bastien to the nursery. “We’re going to take her right in here.” The nurse took the cot, pushing it through the left side of the large nursery to another nurse who was waiting inside before stepping back out. “The doctor will be here in just a moment, sir.” She curtsied and stepped away.
“How are you feeling, dad?” Bastien smiled as he clapped Liam on the shoulder.
Liam couldn’t contain his proud grin as he shook his head. “We’ve wanted this for so long … it’s kind of surreal. I’m just … I’m so in love with her I already.”
“Regina has been calling to check on you all.”
“Dammit,” Liam grumbled. “I forgot to call her in the midst of everything going on.” He pulled his phone from his pocket, and he and Bastien stepped away from the door for a moment while he called Regina.
Inside the nursery, the nurse stood and smiled down at the small princess while continuing to wait for the doctor. The other nursery door on the right side of the room opened a few moments later, and she looked up, curtsying to the King as he stepped inside.
“How is my little girl?” he asked.
“We’re still waiting for the doctor, Your Majesty.”
He nodded and stepped over to the cot; the nurse noticed a limp as he walked. “Is your leg ok, sir?”
“Yes, it’s fine. It just has a kink in it from sitting with Her Majesty.” He looked down at Eleanor and scooped her up into his arms. “I’ve been looking forward to having this first moment alone with her,” he smiled.
“She’s quite perfect, sir.”
He looked her over and nodded. “That she is.”
“Let me go see where the doctor is.”
The nurse stepped out of the room just as Eleanor began to fuss a little. He gently rocked her in his arms, brushing his thumb across her tiny cheek.
“Sshhh, it’s ok. Uncle Seth’s got you …”

I need to talk with Kevin(+16)
Tumblr media
Five points...
I had this idea out of the blue ... So ... There will be no real demonstration of love on the part of Kevin for obvious reasons;
The reader needs to hear nine words: You need to go back to medicine and therapy.
Have fun? This is no worse than killing stalking when it comes to abusive relationships;
I don't approve of any abusive and unhealthy relationship;
If this work offended you, i'm sorry, is not my intension.
Warnings: This work has abusive relationships, actions related to borderline syndrome, lies, mention of mass murder and manipulation, if you are sensitive to these issues, please do not read
Tumblr media
There were two things that the townspeople didn't know about the Katchadourian family, one was that Eva Katchadourian was not to blame for anything, and the other, that it was really my fault, he told me his intentions two days before he did, and I, considered it a black humor joke, I never imagined that Kevin, my Kevin would do something like that, we dated for a year, I feel one of the deepest loves I have ever experienced for him, but I think he never really responded to these feelings, I was useful to him, a good time spent, but here I am, waiting for my visiting hours, today was his 18th birthday, my father without understanding found time for me to talk to the “arrow killer” .
The guards arrive to pick me up while two other guards accompany Eva, she is very ill, her face tired, her eyes sunken and an aura of guilt that someone on the other side of the inmate would feel, when she goes past me, I gently hold her shoulder , it makes her shiver with fright, clearly expecting offenses and threats to come out of my mouth, but that's not what happens.
" It's not your fault Eva "
It's the only thing I say, so I follow with the guards, she is still standing in the same place when I walk through the side door, in my hands the best decorated cupcake I have ever made, a red syrup dripping from its top down the whipped cream , I hope it looks as good as it looks, my colleagues always praised me for the food I took to sell at school, my dead colleagues praised me.
When we got to the living room, the guard opened it and looked with his judgmental eyes in the back of mine, he seemed to disgust me, but I do too, I used my free arm to anxiously rub my arm holding the cupcake.
" You have half an hour "
I nodded, and walked into the room, Kevin was sitting in his supposed chair, looking at the gray wall with no interest at all, when he heard my footsteps, finally he looked at me, it was the sarcastic look he always carried, that it would make many feel intimidated, but I was used to it, and while I sat in complete silence.
" I thought you would have left last year "
I sigh, getting more comfortable in the chair, I thought it would be difficult to talk to him, that I would receive a rude answer at first, but no, he was the one who started the conversation.
" After my brother died, I preferred to stay, my mother was not at all well... "
He nodded, resting his hands on the table, he smiled
" In other words, you stayed because I murdered your brother, you stayed because of me "
I swallow, looking somewhat shocked at Kevin
" You speak as if it were normal "
Kevin raised his arms up, pointing at us
" It's normal! You date a murderer, Dear! "
My gaze continues in shock as I look at him, he soon realizes this, and returns to his inner position.
" It was meant to be a joke, it was very embarrassing, right? ... I'm glad you were, I thought you were going to abandon me, or look at me as crooked as my mom does whenever she comes "
I knew it wasn't a joke, and that he doesn't care a bit about the look his mother gives him, but I'm glad he likes to see me, which is why I'm going to ignore everything else, I can't let him abandon me
" It's okay, I must be in a bad mood today "
I smiled lovingly at him, Kevin held out his hand, which I held tightly, I missed his touch, his smell, his presence.
" Love… Did you go back to taking your Borderline medicine? "
It had been three years since I had taken the medication, I moved from my parents' house to another neighborhood three months after my brother's death, so no one could force me to take the medication.
" I haven't taken them for three years "
I say happy, I know he will like this news, he was the one who told me to stop taking them, and I was never better, those pills let me down, helpless, now, I'm just me.
" Do you know where you're going after you leave here? I live alone now.... So... if you want to be with me..."
He smiles, making a light caress on my arm, I don't think his mother will want him back after what he did, he will only have me and I will only have him... But I know he won't really want lives with me.
" Of course I'm going to live with you! Where else would I go dear? You were so good to me, waiting for me all this time, do you remember our last night together? "
I remember, I gave myself body and soul to him, our first time, I got a scar on my back, Kevin said that cutting me with the stylus would make us more horny, I didn't feel it, but he was really enjoying it, so I I let it continue.
" When I leave here will you want to do it again? "
I felt my cheeks heat up, it was a very straightforward question, with no attempt to be sweet.
" Of course, yes ... But while I can't do this for you, I brought you one of my cupcakes... I was going to make a cake but the police... "
He interrupts me, taking the cupcake from my hand, biting it hard, two years without eating good things, I imagine how it must be.
" At school, did they talk about me? "
Oh yes, and how, they didn't shut up about you until we finished school, it was all day, Kevin Katchadourian here, Eva Katchadourian over there.
" Yep... they talked a lot about you, your mother must have told that they are even wanting to make a film about you "
He took another bite of the cupcake, muttering something in agreement, he quickly finished, throwing the heart shape of the cupcake into a nearby can.
" I just hope they don't get Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio playing me "
What was too much with Leonardo DiCaprio? But before I could ask, the door to the room opened, an upset snort left our lips in sync, half an hour with the person we love passes by so fast.
" The time is over "
I looked back with a sarcastic smile
" Swear? "
I got up from the chair, stretching my arms, and before following the guard, I look one last time at Kevin, smiling sadly.
" I will wait for you "
He returned the smile, resting his head on his arms
" I know you will "

“Scarlet Eyes,” Kurapika x Reader
Tumblr media
ship: Kurapika x FemReader
summary: Kurapika finds out that he isn’t the only one with scarlet eyes.
warnings: none just sadness and some fluff
.
.
.
It had come to a shock when Kurapika found out from his friends that they ran into another Kurta member, he thought they were mistaken and probably seen something that wasn’t obviously there but in the back of his head, he was desperate and was hoping that another one made it out alive like he did.
Gon and Killua had convinced him it was true. The two boys seeing the young girls eyes change right in front of them to a scary red as fear filled her very eyes. She ran off shortly after the encounter, she never meant for her eyes to change and she had kept them normal for a long time, trying to seal her identity so she didn’t get killed off as well because in her mind, she was the last member left too.
Kurapika had went to the area where the two young boys said they saw her, hoping for some kind of miracle he would see her, maybe even recognize her. Was it someone he knew? Or just another member he knew existed but didn’t know them personally. He fiddled with the chains on his hand, walking through the small town nearing midnight and looked up at the night sky.
He had given up the small piece of hope he had left in him. He didn’t know why he was overthinking this but maybe he thought this long lost member of the Kurta can save him from his lifelong hatred of the spiders. Or maybe she could take the guilt that weighed heavily on his heart, the blame he carried on his shoulders.
After the first night of looking for her, he never stopped. He kept going back to the same town she was seen, maybe she stayed and was hiding. Gon had remembered exactly what she looked like as well as the scent she carried and he was happy to help Kurapika find another member of his clan.
It had taken a few months but finally once Gon and Killua had departed and went their own way, Kurapika stayed in the small town. He got himself a small cottage, hoping he wasn’t wasting his time finding someone who doesn’t want to be found.
But one day in particular, he walked down the busy town to collect some supplies he needed, mostly food. He was carrying the bag on his shoulder before he seen a young woman purchasing items, she looked oddly familiar and the description Gon gave him was glued to his head as he stared at her. He was frozen, he didn’t know what to do. Was this the woman they were talking about? He had prayed to the Kurta gods this was her, he needed it to be her.
Once she was walking away, he was quick to follow her and practically spied on her the next few days before making the first move to talk to her. Today was the third day of seeing her, this time Kurapika had the courage to follow her to the end of the town where there wasn’t many people and stopped her.
“Excuse me-“ He spoke quietly, making her turn her head to look up at him and he was frozen again. Her beauty making him flush light pink as she had a small gentle smile on her face.
“I’m sorry, this is a weird question.” He continued, scratching the back of his head as his nerves started to kick in. should he just be blunt and ask her?
“Is there any chance you know about the Kurta clan?” He spoke low, just for her to hear. Even if she wasn’t the girl, she didn’t pose a direct threat to him and he knew that.
But her face gave it away as it drained with color and became pale. ‘they found me?’ she thought to herself and was prepared to run or defend herself but all Kurapika did was reach over and embrace her in a tight hug. He was breathless and she was stunned, why was he hugging her? she was quick to push him off her and had pulled out a small dagger she hid in her pocket.
“Who are you? Are you here to kill me?” She pointed it up at Kurapika, the tip of the dagger touching just below his chin and he shook his head quickly.
“I’m Kurapika.. I thought I was the last Kurta alive but you— how did you make it out alive? They were all slaughtered.” He gently spoke at her, looking around as people gave weird looks as she held the dagger at his throat.
She eventually dropped it down, gesturing her head for him to follow her as she walked through the wooded area, coming across the small cottage she was staying in with a large beautiful garden. He was in awe, not just with the garden but with her. She stopped in her tracks, turning around to look up at him.
“I thought you were killed when you made it out of the village. They said you were when the spiders came to murder us. My father had a built in hideout that was underneath the house, it was for emergencies since he always had a good hunch when it came to danger. He obviously didn’t make it in time but I did, I hid for hours, for days for someone to come for me.” She confessed, her eyes beginning to water at the flashback she had of coming out of the small hideout and seeing the clan brutally slaughtered with their eye sockets full of blood.
Kurapika stood there, he knew the feeling but he never got to see the clan or the village after the spiders burnt it to the ground— he simply heard of the murders on the television, he couldn’t imagine the horror you saw as his heart started to ache.
“I’m sorry, I wish I was there.” He admitted, getting a bit emotional himself.
“Be glad you weren’t. You were lucky, you got out.. there was nothing you could’ve done except walk into your death.” She sighed, turning her eyes to look away from his.
She knew of Kurapika, she seen him around back at the village when they were younger but she was never friends with him and she never could bring the courage up to go play with him and the other kids growing up. She always stayed to herself, stayed inside and helped her mother with the chores and learned how to cook then her father taught her how to defend for herself and survive incase tragedy striked. seemed he could tell the future, she always thought to herself.
Kurapika stood there in silence, the both of them staring elsewhere at the now sad reality they face while the traumatic flashbacks flood their heads once again. She noticed how stiff he was, how cold he seemed when his clan was brought up. She could tell by looking at him that he carried around the guilt and blamed himself for the clan being murdered, it was obvious.
“I’m Y/N, by the way.. it’s getting late, maybe if you want to stay.. for dinner? maybe talk or catch up? If there’s even anything to catch up on—“ She began to ramble on, not knowing what to say but not wanting to lose someone apart of her clan again.
Kurapika chuckled, nodding his head as he thought about it. They both felt the same way, not wanting to lose another Kurta member now that they found out it’s just the two of them. This made a spark ignite, having something in common that no one else can have or even relate to. Being apart of the Kurta clan was something very important to the both of them, especially now that they are the very thing that keep the clan non-extinct.
“I’ll love to stay, honestly I don’t think I can leave without at least making sure you’re safe..” Kurapika nervously fiddled with his chains again and followed her inside the warm cottage, feeling at peace already.
Obviously neither of them know a lot about each other but the bond the clan shared back when everyone was alive was unbreakable. The two stayed inside for the rest of the night, talking, eating, laughing as well as crying at one point when bringing up happy memories of the Kurta village. Kurapika hasn’t felt this peaceful since the clan was alive. He felt like he was at home. She felt the same way, she felt content and happy.
“Perhaps I should get going, I can always come back tomorrow to continue our conversation.” He yawned, standing up from the chair and she nodded quickly.
As she got up after him, she was quick to embrace him in a tight hug that caught him off guard but he swiftly wrapped his arms around her small frame and held her tightly and they held each other for a moment, afraid of letting the other go incase the spiders finish off the job and completely wipe the Kurta clan clean.
It was silly, there were both strangers but talking today they both feel like they’ve known each other for years— they kinda have in a way without really knowing.
They both pulled back, she smiled up at him and Kurapika gave her a genuine smile, something he hasn’t done in a while either. He walked towards the door, putting on his coat and he looked back at her, saying their goodbyes.
Kurapika walked down the wooded trail, his hands stuffed inside his pockets as the moon shined down on him. The whole walk to his place, he thought about her and not in a creepy way but in a way where he was glad he wasn’t the last Kurta, where he was glad to finally have someone who understands, who shares a lot in common with him, someone he could be close friends with.
He felt dumb for thinking about it too hard but this was just a once in a lifetime experience, something he always dreamt of— not being alone. he hated being alone, yes he had friends and he loved his friends but he just always felt empty, always felt like he was drowning and someone was holding his head under. Most nights he would cry, he would stare at the wall for hours instead of sleeping, feeling empty and defeated and feeling the guilt weigh heavily upon him.
But now that he has met you and knows you are in fact, a Kurta member, he finally slept peacefully for the first time in ages and same went with her, she slept for eight hours straight, Kurapika glued to her mind and thinking about how the clan would be proud of the both of them for finding one another.
You two are home now.

I’ve seen some people who finished Omori talking about how they don’t understand the game’s plot, what happens in the good ending or why the protagonist even decided to change his ways. So then, here’s my thoughts on Omori’s story.
Warning: SPOILERS AHOY. Only read this if you’ve already finished the game and seen the good or true ending. Or if you don’t plan on playing the game at all but still want to know the whole story.
I’ve seen some people around the internet talk about how Sunny’s character isn’t clear to them or how they feel Sunny doesn’t deserve a good ending. Here’s some thoughts I have on why I think Sunny’s growth was well depicted.
There’s two main routes you can go through in the game: the “Reality” route and the “Hikikomori” route.
In the “Hikikomori” route, Sunny stays in Headspace forever and we get to learn many additional details about him. Sunny’s parents are implied to have known what Sunny did to Mari all along. It’s also implied that Sunny’s mother covered the whole thing up and chose to present it as a suicide as well cus, in her own words, she can’t bear the thought of losing both of her kids.
Sunny’s mother insinuates her son isn’t a “good boy” even though she begs him to be good but she still sees him as her little boy (as seen by the overly-sweet and positive messages she leaves around the house and her voice mails) and needs him alive so she can survive her own grief. Sunny’s father is shown cutting down the hanging tree and telling Sunny he isn’t his son, presumably disowning Sunny. The father keeps being absent forever afterwards.
Fast forward to the present and the “Reality” route, Sunny’s moving in 3 days. He knows his time is up in the real world and the biggest catalyst for his personal growth is that he’s finally seeing his old friends in the REAL world after 4 years of only seeing their loving, idealized child version in dreams. For the first time, he gets to witness the collateral consequences of what he did to Mari in his now teenaged friends: Aubrey spirals into delinquency after feeling like she was thrown aside by everyone she loved. Hero is guilt ridden, can’t even go near Mari’s grave and gives up on his dreams of being a chef. Kel wants to make things better but feels powerless, useless and like a screwup. Basil lives in a miserable state of almost constant fear and psychosis.
Sunny finally gets to see the huge toll his lie took on his friends’ entire lives as they keep blaming themselves for not knowing about Mari’s supposed suicidal ideations. He’s finally forced to face reality and he still tries to hide in dreamworld but he can’t. The inhabitants of Headspace are all people or fictional characters he knows or likes in real life (that he changed in his dreams, like how Kim’s brother is a sweet gentle giant and Sweetheart looks just like the candy shop owner at the supermarket) and their quests end up leading him to events where he’s reminded over and over again his dreams will end soon (the end of the underwater highway, the tree near the whale, the shadows of Mari and Basil) and that he needs to delve into Blackspace.
This shows how his own subconscious mind knows well what needs to be done; he’s putting the mental and emotional effort of making himself face what he’s done, shown through the contrast between the whimsical nature of Headspace and the dark surrealism of Blackspace.
As this happens in Sunny’s psyche, in the real world he can try to “atone” a bit by doing good things for his little community like completing requests people around him have. He still has a lot of trouble being near Basil in the real world but considering his entire subconscious mainly revolves around finding and rescuing Basil, he wants and needs to face Basil sincerely before he runs out of time.
We’re shown through memories that Sunny’s personality was always quiet, wary, a bit distant and very bad at dealing with pressure. Some people even describe him as cowardly or mediocre but he was just a small kid who’s entire world ended when he was 12. Since then, he never left his house, spending most of his days asleep rather than awake. It’s no wonder his personality isn’t as developed as his friends. His friends, although they were also in immense pain, at least still continued to live beyond Mari’s death. Sunny didn’t. He only lived through sleep.
Subconsciously, it’s shown Sunny both loves and hates Basil. This is seen in Blackspace with the dialogue he has with the “strangers” walking in the void. They talk about how Sunny (as Omori) does horrible things to Basil in the darkness of Blackspace because he struggles with facing the truth of his own actions. It’s also revealed through datamine of Blackspace’s metaphorical photo album that Basil, in his attempts to save Sunny from the judgement of others and to get him to come out of catatonia, was the one who come up with the plan to hang Mari.
Sunny describes Mari as looking as if calmly asleep when he drags her up the stairs. Her eyes remained peacefully closed until Sunny and Basil hung her. Then, Sunny turned back to look at Mari’s corpse, her previously closed eyes were wide open. She might have even been still alive, might have opened her eyes during or after the noose was tied to her neck. Or the belief he saw her eyes open could have been a manifestation of Sunny’s guilt, instead.
Either way, the horrifying possibilities surrounding Mari’s death lead to Sunny handling his emotional pain by subconsciously taking it out on Basil. It’s why Basil in Blackspace is shown constantly suffering and dying in many different ways. It’s the only way Sunny has been able to deal with himself; by forcing Basil into the darkest corners of his mind, his perfect colorful dreamworld can’t be ruined by the ugly reality Basil’s mere presence represents. It’s less painful to try to forget Basil and to forever blame him for both of their sins.
Still, even with all these conflicted feelings, Sunny’s tried to come to terms with love he still feels for Basil many times before. The shadows point out how this isn’t the first time he’s tried to save the Flower Boy; how all the previous times before ended in Sunny failing to find redemption and so his mind turns back to torturing the Basil of his dreams instead.
However, one of the Blackspace shadows also mentions a very important detail that changes almost everything this time around: his time is almost up in the real world. Whether this means he’ll commit suicide or move away, it’s almost time for him to leave the friends he’s always loved so much behind.
Sunny is forced to do a lot of internal work and self-reflection in what little time he has left. It’s shown through his dream actions, the surreal imagery surrounding him and the characters with all the sub plots his subconscious makes up.
In the route to the good ending, he traverses Blackspace and manages to listen to every harsh truth Basil’s shadow has to tell him. His attempts to save Basil mean he’s fighting his own mind, forcing himself to accept the truth.
To achieve redemption for his greatest mistake, Sunny needs to start with accepting Basil entirely; he has to stop making Basil take the brunt of their combined regrets. It means being willing to finally face the REAL Basil instead of permanently burying him in the most painful place within Sunny’s mind.
So basically, it’s obvious to me that Sunny is forced out of his “comfortable” hikikomori misery the moment he opens the door to meet the REAL Kel.
Sunny and Basil have a confrontation in the real world. When Sunny entera Basil’s room, we see poor Basil suicidal and at his limit. He’s clearly in the throes of a psychotic episode and at the mercy of hallucinations and delusions he can’t escape from (“There’s no way out of this is there, Sunny?”). Basil attacks you in an attempt to save you by killing the “thing behind you” but as we know, there isn’t actually something behind you.
There was never any monster to take the blame for Basil’s regrets, nor yours. It’s always been just you.
Meanwhile, Sunny is trying his best not to completely lose his shit so he can save Basil and stop him from potentially killing the both of them. Sunny likely loses an eye in the fight, shown by the blood coming from your socket and the bandage over it in the hospital.
Incidentally, the eye you lose is on the same side as the eye that can be seen peeking through the hair of Mari’s face as she’s hanging from the tree.
In the good ending, the song at the end talks about how even after confessing the truth, Sunny is alone once again, so it’s not actually clear if Aubrey, Kel and Hero actually forgave him. I feel like this is deliberately left up to interpretation by the writers. The lyrics then continue on to say Sunny still finds it hard to wake up, still finds himself plagued some days with lingering regret, but that he still tries to take it all one step at a time to carry on living.
With the song’s lyrics in mind, the end scene that shows Basil and Sunny smiling at each other while Mari’s shadow leaves them doesn’t mean they’re completely fine all of a sudden. Whether their friends forgave them or not, they at least finally have the relief of honesty. The burden of their unbearable shared secret is now off their shoulders. It’s finally out in the open, which means they both can now start healing and working to find the redemption Sunny was looking for in Blackspace. It also means they can go back to loving each other again without the crushing pain they both felt in each other’s presence.
I agree that Aubrey and the gang get pretty left out in the good ending, though. I wish there was more of them and their reactions to the truth BUT I think it’s sadly a deliberate choice by the writers to leave their reaction up to the player’s interpretation. This can feel extremely unfulfilling to many people (me included, I hate when authors do that tbh) but also to many others that’s a good thing cus they get to apply their own personal meaning and feelings.
I personally feel like the friends forgiving Sunny and Basil right off the bat would be incredibly unrealistic. I think they would need a lot of time (especially Aubrey) for them to forgive the lie that wrecked their lives for years. Forgiveness isn’t impossible but it would probably come in the form of a slow, difficult, heartbreaking process. Bittersweet.
Redemption isn’t just about forgiveness, anyway.
Even if a person is never forgiven by the people they’ve hurt, they can still find redemption for their actions through doing good for the people around them and the world at large. An example of this is shown through what Sunny can do on his last days in his neighborhood. The gratitude and additional flowers he receives in the hospital from each person he’s helped are proof he can still do good for others even after something as horrible and unforgivable as accidental murder. In a way, it’s proof that his life is still worth living.
But ultimately that’s just my own interpretation of the ending and I understand other people would interpret it all differently. Some see forgiveness as a given in the story while there’s also others who think Sunny doesn’t deserve forgiveness or those who think Sunny is a sociopath/psychopath or that Basil is the true villain of the game. I think this is why the ending was left so open, to favor all the different interpretations people have of it.
ETA: Here’s a different take on Sunny’s parents. This post argues that, despite the initial implications, they actually didn’t know about the attempted coverup. It’s a really good writeup explaining the whys and hows and has me reconsidering that part of the story!

Keep Your Hands to Yourself
In Frozen, we see that Elsa occasionally displays a nervous habit of holding herself by placing her hands on her elbows and positioning them inward towards her. Most of the time, she creates ice and snow from her hands, especially when she extends them out in front of her. The appearance of Elsa’s creations relate to her emotions, and she has trouble maintaining control of her magic whenever she feels scared, angry, panicky, or any other strong negative emotion(s). So whenever she experiences said emotions, Elsa assumes this posture to reduce the chances of releasing ice unintentionally or accidentally, and subsequently losing total control of her magic.
But the other major reason why Elsa holds herself is that it has become a gesture of comforting herself of sorts, one that no one else could do. If you remember, when she is 12, Elsa is still struggling to control her powers, especially when her negative emotions run rampant. When Agnarr tries to reach towards and comfort his terrified daughter, Elsa pulls away, refusing to be touched. By now, Elsa has become deathly scared that she might gravely harm or kill anyone who comes in contact with her, with her biggest concerns being aimed towards her family. Unable to bear the thought of harming them due to the instability of her magic through her anxiety and fear, Elsa refuses to let her father touch or hug her. This scene is so heartbreaking because Elsa clearly needs a hug here, but to her, it’s no longer an option.
By the time she is 18, Elsa has completely banned herself from having any physical contact with her sister and parents. Before Agnarr and Iduna leave for their trip, all Elsa does to bid them goodbye is curtsy. No physical contact is initiated between either party. After the couples’ death and funeral, Elsa is seen alone in her room, which is frozen with ice and snowflakes hang in the air, suspended by her grief.
Although it’s short, this is the first moment in the film where Elsa displays the posture of holding herself. This scene subtly reveals that when she holds herself, she is actually “hugging” herself as a means of comfort in her time of mourning. Since Elsa no longer allows anyone to hug or affectionately touch her to ease her when she feels sad, worried, anxious, or scared, “hugging” herself is the only option she has left.

The second scene, but the first major one, in which Elsa holds herself is after she tells Anna “Then leave”, and she continues to do it when she walks away and says, “Enough, Anna!”, while Anna badgers Elsa with questions about why she coldly closes herself off from her (Anna) and the rest of the world. Anna’s nonstop persistence of questioning her sister culminates with Elsa’s agitation reaching its tipping point when she unleashes a barrier of ice spikes from her hand upon turning around and shouting, “I said, ENOUGH!”
Immediately before all of this happens, Elsa orders the gates to be closed, and Anna objects by following Elsa, grabbing one of her gloves (though she was actually trying to take Elsa by the hand instead), and desperately pleading for Elsa to realize that she (Anna) can no longer live her life being cut off from the people of Arendelle and the rest of the world. Elsa assumes this posture because she is growing agitated by Anna’s demanding persistence of her distant behavior. This scene shows perfectly that Elsa has trouble maintaining control of her powers when experiencing negative emotions, and especially so when Anna is around to spur them. Elsa doesn’t want things to get out of hand (no pun intended, of course! 😆😝) and attract unwanted attention, so she tries to walk away and keep her hands closed in to prevent any magic from being let loose...which is ultimately unsuccessful by the end of this scene.
Then later, after Elsa runs away following her secret being exposed, Anna comes to find her sister at the ice palace. Although both girls are initially delighted to see each other, after Anna says they can be close again like they were as children, Elsa becomes consumed by anxiety and fear because she cannot forget the horrible childhood memory of when she nearly killed Anna. Like the earlier scene, Elsa wants to avoid taking a chance of losing control of herself and making dangerous ice, so while saying they cannot be close again, Elsa assumes her posture as she attempts to bid Anna goodbye and walk away from her.
After throwing Anna, Olaf, and Kristoff out of her palace, Elsa’s fear intensifies because she has learned of the fate she has brought upon Arendelle. Not only does she briefly fold her arms inward and hold herself again, but she paces back and forth around her palace while telling herself “Control it” and “Don’t feel.”

In the six years since Frozen came out, we had the shorts Frozen Fever and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure take place after it. Both films depict Elsa being happier and much more confident in herself, her magic, and in her role as the queen of Arendelle. So perhaps some fans thought that by the time that Frozen II takes place, which is three years after Frozen, Elsa would be so happy and confident that we would never see the habit of her holding herself again.
But no, that does not happen; Elsa resumes this posture a few times in Frozen II. Seeing her do it in this film made me realize a few other reasons of why she does it in the original film that I didn’t realize when I first saw it years ago.
Elsa is first seen with this posture when she finally tells Anna about the voice, which is immediately after the people of Arendelle have been evacuated from the kingdom. Then she does it a couple more times when she and Anna discover the wreck of their parents’ ship and how they died.
The fact that Elsa holds herself in these scenes tell me that, despite the obvious progress she has made about herself since the end of Frozen, like the one song says, some things have not changed. Elsa still exhibits this habit because she has been doing it for years; 13 years, in fact. Doing any nervous habit like this for such a length of time is EXTREMELY hard to break. At the end of the first movie, Elsa was only just BEGINNING to gain confidence in herself because she realized that love is the key to controlling her powers, and her people have accepted her once they see the good things she can do with them. But these sudden changes, no matter how optimistic they would be, would NOT make Elsa instantly gain confidence and think nothing but positivity about herself and her magic. When you spend so many years thinking pessimistically about yourself, it can take many more years to be completely convinced to think just the opposite. Lots of positive reinforcement is always a good start, but it is easy to slip up and fall back into bad habits, and Elsa proves this by resuming the posture in the aforementioned scene.
So even after three years, Elsa has not grown confident and happy enough to change her old ways.
Two realizations I had about Elsa assuming this posture in the original film is that it emphasizes her having feelings of guilt (in which she takes any and all blame on herself) and reluctance. These feelings are further stressed during the scenes in Frozen II because Elsa barely makes eye contact with Anna. In the scene following Arendelle’s evacuation, Elsa’s posture and avoidance of looking at Anna implies that she is feeling guilty, not just about not mentioning the voice sooner, but also about having wakened the spirits and forced the citizens to evacuate after Arendelle’s elements were disrupted. Her actions also shows that Elsa is still very reluctant to open up about her feelings and admit things to Anna, especially anything secretive, anything that bothers her. This makes a lot of sense to me since Elsa spent more than a decade being taught to conceal her emotions and feelings in order to control her magic. Guilt was another negative emotion Elsa had felt for years and struggled to control, especially after Anna’s accident. And now, as the sole ruler of Arendelle, Elsa carries the weight of the kingdom on her shoulders. She assumes the responsibility of the safety and well-being of her people. When she causes problems or misfortunes in Arendelle that affects many, if not all, of its citizens, Elsa either carries large amounts of guilt and blames herself for them or feels tremendous amounts of worry and anxiety about how to resolve them. She is VERY hard on herself, and like her posture, shedding strong feelings like guilt and learning to not take all of the blame are not things that Elsa would be able to do in a snap.
So again, even after three years, being more optimistic, less guilty, and open about her feelings are things that are not particularly easy for Elsa to do.
For the entire scene with their parents’ shipwreck, Elsa holds herself when she and Anna watch the water memory of Agnarr and Iduna’s final moments, when she heartbrokenly walks away and assumes responsibility for their deaths, and then finally after she sends Anna and Olaf away in the ice canoe.
Like earlier, Elsa does her posture while and after watching her parents’ final moments. She realizes that Agnarr and Iduna died while they were searching for answers about her powers, and so she guiltily pins herself as the sole cause for their deaths. When Anna tries to get Elsa to see that it is not her fault at all, Elsa again (initially) refuses to make eye contact with her sister as part of her guilt. Again, Elsa’s guilt is emphasized here like the earlier scene because she assumes responsibility for the well-being of her family just like she does with her kingdom. Anything her family members do that relate to her makes Elsa believe that she holds all the responsibility for their decisions, and this is why she believes she alone is the reason her parents are dead. This is perhaps the only moment in the whole film where Elsa reverts back to her old beliefs that her powers make her a danger, burden, and curse to her family and the world. Although Elsa begins to regain her faith when Anna says that Elsa is a gift because of their mother’s good deed of rescuing their father and that she (Anna) believes in her (Elsa) to free the forest and save Arendelle, it would be Elsa’s eventual discovery of her purpose as the fifth spirit that would make her gain ultimate confidence in and acceptance of herself and her powers. 😉😊

The last moment in the film that shows Elsa holding herself is when she sends Anna and Olaf away in the ice canoe. Before this moment, Anna insists on coming with Elsa to Ahtohallan to keep Elsa safe, to keep her from dying. But Elsa adamantly refuses to let Anna come, knowing that they would both perish trying to cross the Dark Sea. After saying she can’t lose Anna and hugging her, Elsa creates the boat and watches Anna and Olaf slide away down the bank until they are out of sight. Now Elsa’s face in this moment shows that she does feel guilty and unhappy what she did, but she had to do it anyway. As I said here, Anna could not come with Elsa to Ahtohallan because the perils of the Dark Sea could have killed them both, and then they would have been unable to complete their mission. For now, Elsa may have broken her promise that she and Anna would do their mission together. But even though they weren’t physically together the whole time, they did do it together. So in the end, Elsa still kept her promise.

But these two scenes aren’t the only times since the original film that Elsa has exhibited these actions to show her guilt about something. In Frozen Fever, when Anna holds the sick, weak Elsa as they walk back to the castle together, Elsa folds her arms in and doesn’t look Anna in the eye as she apologizes for her belief that she ruined her sister’s birthday.
Like I said before, some things did not change between Frozen and Frozen II, and these are two things that Elsa did not change about herself following 13 years of repression and isolation to three years of no longer hiding from the world.
Tumblr media
The other realization I had about Elsa’s posture, particularly with these two scenes in Frozen II and the scene in Frozen Fever, is that it is a clear sign of her introversion, and so is her reluctance to make eye contact with Anna. These are things to which I can strongly relate because I am also an introvert. We introverts do not always like to be open about our feelings, particularly whenever something is bothering us. It’s only after encouragement from the people to whom we are the closest, be it family members, friends, or both, that we are more willing to be honest and less reluctant about our feelings, and share them rather than hide them.
By the end of Frozen II, and I can’t stress this enough, Elsa finally knows exactly who and what she is, has discovered her true calling in life is, and knows why she has magic. And by finally having all of the answers to what she has wanted to know all of her life, Elsa can definitely change her actions of holding herself and not making eye contact when feeling guilty, as well as learning to be less reluctant to hide her feelings and admit them. Like any habit that is practiced for years, changing them would be a gradual practice for her, not instant. But I have every confidence in my girl that she can do it. 😁😄❤️
