You know, the Leverage world is very lucky that Parker is a thief and that Archie is the one who found her, and not someone like Damien Moreau.
Because she would be terrifying as an assassin or something any way more lethal than a thief.

3x07: Fresh Blood
Then:
Tumblr media
Sam Winchester, Superhuman
Now:
Our old friend Gordon Walker is out of prison and tracks down Bela. He wants to know where the Winchesters are. Bela’s not willing to play --even with a gun to her face. Go Bela. (Even if she just wants something out of the deal.) She calls Gordon’s bluff on killing her. She wants Gordon’s “mojo bag” for Sam and Dean’s location. He gives it up, and she gives up the brothers.
Sam and Dean, meanwhile, find a dude in an alley with his throat bit into. Dean tracks the assailant. Having no luck drawing her out, he cuts his own arm.
Tumblr media
She attacks and he’s able to get some dead man’s blood injected into her neck. Reckless but successful!
The vamp later wakes, tied up and facing two angry hunters wanting to know about her nest. She’s clueless as to what’s happening. The brothers quickly realize that there’s something off about this. She “took something” and wants to know what’s happening. They tell her to explain and they’ll let her go.
Tumblr media
She tells them she was at a bar and chatting with an old dude (“like thirty”) who had something “new” for her. It was a “red and thick” drug --vamp blood!
Dean breaks the news to the woman that she’ll never be the same again. She’s killed people. It’s too late. Dean and Sam confer --they don’t have a choice. Dean takes care of the situation.
At a hospital, the man that was attacked gets a visit from the FBI. No, not Sam and Dean but Gordon and his buddy.
Tumblr media
They ask about the attack. The guy’s lucky. He didn’t ingest any blood. They also ask about the dudes that found him. “One of them was tall.”
The brothers are at a club trying to track down who’s vamp roofie-ing others. They follow a couple and just before the guy gives the lady blood, Sam and Dean intervene. Dean starts beating on the dude while Sam instructs the woman to run. The dude gets the upper hand on Dean and takes off. The brothers are in hot pursuit, until they run into Gordon and a friend.
Gordon opens fire.
Cool.
That man has NO chill.
Tumblr media
The brothers escape. But the vamp-man is still there and attacks Gordon.
At the motel Sam waits for Dean. Dean’s late because he had to “stop for a slice.” You do you, bby. The brothers discuss Gordon -and realize that Bela gave up their location.
Tumblr media
We find Gordon all tied up, but not sexy tied up like his fellow prisoners. Vamp-man shows up and feeds the women some blood and discusses things with Gordon. The vamp-man knows exactly who Gordon is. They’re not seeing eye to eye on their respective careers. The vamp-man then slices open Gordon’s arm, slices his own, and mingles their blood.
Sam and Dean prioritize killing Gordon over finding that vamp. Dean’s surprised at how pragmatic Sam is about the plan. Ah, so young. OF COURSE Sam is the less emotional of the two when things need to get done.
Bela calls to give them Gordon’s location. She contacted the spirit world to get it. She also tells them they should leave town and NOT go after Gordon.
Tumblr media
Gordon wakes up to pounding drums, a pulse beating symbolically in his ear. The camera does a close-up of an honest-to-god pocketwatch. Because his life is ticking away GET IT? Gordon rage-breaks out of his chains. He’s twitchy under the street lights outside and goes after his first victim by chomping him in his car.
Dear Gordon,
Please tell me the vamp secret to silently sneaking into the backs of cars while the owners are standing RIGHT THERE. A truly remarkable skill.
Warmest regards,
Natasha
Sam and Dean close in on Gordon’s (former) location and find the two women messily beheaded. Gross, man. They sneak up on the vampire who turned them, who’s just kneeling sadly in front of the carnage.
Tumblr media
He’s sad that he’s all alone and villain-splains his feelings to Sam and Dean. The vampire approaches Dean and asks him if he knows what it’s like to not give a damn? “It’s like being dead already.” Dean desperately tries to ignore the symbolic line of questioning! Sam points out that the womens’ heads were ripped off. Who would do that? They learn that Dixon turned Gordon into a vampire.
In their RV of religious suffering, Kubrick and Gordon meet again. Kubrick quickly learns that Gordon got turned and prepares to kill him. Gordon begs for just a little more time. With his superpowers, he can finally take down the anti-christ, Sam Winchester. He gazes mournfully at a cross on the wall while Kubrick creeps around behind him for a weapon.
Tumblr media
Gordon hears Kubrick’s heartbeat speeding up and tears into him. One vengeful Winchester-hunter down…
Dean heads back to their weird mattress fort motel room.
Tumblr media
Sam destroys their cell phones while Dean loads up the Colt. He’s ready to take on Walker alone! (Cue the single man tear.) Sam helpfully points out the theme of the episode to Dean, telling him that he’s taking suicidal risks. UUUUGH. Dean denies his fear, but Sam sees through the shield. He says that he’s been looking up to Dean since he was four, trying to be exactly like his brother. He begs Dean to be more careful and Dean quietly agrees. They hole up in their mattress fortified motel room.
Dean gets a call from Gordon, who tracked his trail to the cell phone store. Gordon tells them that he took a hostage and lures them to an abandoned warehouse. Once inside, a door falls between them, separating the Winchesters from each other.
The Gordon v. Sam cage match begins!
Tumblr media
Gordon reveals that he turned the woman he kidnapped. The woman attacks Dean, who kills her with the Colt. Dean breaks in and the three of them fight until Sam s l o w l y rips Gordon’s head off with a coil of razor wire. Blegh. The Winchesters pick themselves up and head out.
Tumblr media
On some quiet back highway, Dean settles in for some light repair work on Baby. He looks thoughtfully at Sam before calling him over. He explains the inner workings of the Impala to Sam, implying that Sam will inherit the car sooner rather than later. They make sad faces at each other and the camera pans out.

@findingniamho
HAHAHAHA thank you so much for this ask!!! ❤️ This is exciting. Honestly the Egghead fight was one of the most entertaining scenes to write. (Coming up with all the puns was an egg-celent time.) Rereading it just now was like an out of body experience 😂
Link to the original chapter here - passage & commentary below the cut!
So I have to start with how this scene was born. This is a Simon scene. He’s had a couple fight scenes with Vampire, but I wanted to show him off as the superhero of the city. What was he doing before Vampire appeared on the scene? What are his strengths and weaknesses? Despite the scene’s silliness, it’s also one of the first where we start to get a sense of what Mayor Mage is up to.
So I knew I wanted him to do the typical defending-the-city thing, and showcase him and Penny as the dread companions power duo.
Besides the plot stuff, my main goal was to make this scene as ridiculously, stereotypically comic book-ish as possible. 😂Hence, Egghead the Villain.
Most of the credit for Egghead goes to my friend -- they’re really into DC and helped me with a lot of the plot stuff in this fic and making things semi-realistic. (Every time you read a clever plot point, it was probably them. 😂) For this non-Vampire fight, my friend suggested a gangster who was doing crimes and bribing the police. Hence this exchange--
“Okay, okay, um-- fuck. Did you call the police?” She huffs. “Yes, and I think they’ve been fucking bribed, because they pretended they didn’t even know who Egghead was! Can you believe that?”
I made him a repeat villain because honestly, I just thought it was more compelling that way. They know who he is already, Simon can grumble about him, they have egg-themed quips at the ready, etc. 😂
As for the name, Egghead. I love how it came together because Simon is a baker, and I was able to work a couple baking jokes in there eventually. But in reality, it was me begging my superhero expert friend (named t below) to help me out with crafting this villain and coming up with some witty exchanges. A transcript of our conversation with the brainstorming and some of the rejects--
t: the gangster has a nickname right? he has to if he’s a supervillain t: make it a gimmick t: like if he has a red outfit call him mr. red or something t: he has a flamethrower and call him dragon (this made it in, later) me: Vampire already has a flamethrower t: they can be forced to fight him together me: Vampire is at home studying bc he’s a NERD t: ok he can be bald and simon can call him egghead me: THANKS I HATE IT t: simon throws him on the ground at the end of the fight - that was over-easy me: I hate you where do you get this shit t: I mean it’s typical superhero stuff t: he wears yellow and white and deals crack me: This fic is so food themed I love it t: that’s your villain. that’s it. t: listen, if the Flash can have an ice skating villain, YOU CAN HAVE EGGHEAD. And he was born.
(And yes, The Flash does have an ice skating villain. AND SHE DOESN’T EVEN HAVE ICE POWERS.)
Okay, let’s do this! Warning that this is definitely going to go through more than 500 words of the chapter. 😂
Men dressed in black suits with bright yellow pocket squares. And larger men around the perimeter, wearing grey and holding flashlights. It looks more like a business transaction than anything; there are briefcases and money being passed back and forth, hands being shaken. “Hey!” I call. There are six men, and they all turn to stare at me, and then make a run for it. The flashlight beams dart wildly and I hear a few of them clatter to the floor. Everyone starts yelling at once and looking for an escape.
I basically watched an episode of Brooklyn-99 and crafted the warehouse drug deal based on that.
“Don’t move. There’s only one exit,” Penny says in my ear. “And you’re standing in front of it.” I stand my ground, but no one comes near me. The suited guys stay slightly behind the muscular ones. Finally, one of them steps forward. “Mage’s Head Boy. Come to tell us off?”
This scene was also an opportunity to have Penny in Simon’s ear! I wanted them to work together more closely than just talking about superhero stuff - I wanted Penny to be invaluable to Simon’s superhero success and in on the action, too. She’s kind of modeled after Oracle from Batman throughout this fic.
Mage’s Head Boy is a pretty transparent CO reference.
There are times when I’m grateful for my ability to just have muscles and growl at people and make them disappear, and there are times when I wish I was witty like Vampire. This is definitely the second. I can’t think of a response to that. Luckily, I have a best friend with a head full of wit. “Tell them to fuck off,” Penny says. Then again, maybe not. What would Vampire say? I get hot and frustrated in the face of danger. He seems to get cooler the higher the stakes get. I fall into a fighting stance. “You wish.” The guy takes a step backwards. “But since I can’t bring you to the police, I suppose I’ll just have to teach you a lesson.” “That was good,” Penny says in my ear.
I obviously had to work a bit of Baz jealousy / crushing into this. I like the idea of Penny being super blunt. She’s smart and sometimes witty, but more often she just says it like it is. “Cooler the higher the stakes get” was a direct reference to the similar line in Carry On. With Simon’s last line - this scene was all about showcasing him as a “typical” superhero that you’d find in a comic, fighting a classic comic book villain. So I gave him one of those cheesy lines.
I’m surrounded. There must be fifteen or twenty of them. Eight huge muscular guys, and the rest in suits. They form a loose circle around me. Almost all of them wield knives, but I don’t see any guns so far.
I knew from the outset I wanted this to be a one-against-many fight. At this point in the story I’d set up a good dynamic for Blade vs Vampire, but not so much Blade vs. other city threats. What makes him a trustworthy hero? Simon’s origin story is that he got news attention by fighting off a group - so putting him in this group fight setting was a chance for him to shine.
A man steps out from the shadows. He’s bald, with a straight, dark mustache, and he’s wearing a pristine white suit and a shirt the colour of an egg yolk. “Egghead,” I say in what I hope is a threatening tone. The name sounds absurd. I’m glad the mask covers my mouth, because I don’t think I can keep a straight face. Penny coughs. Benedict Eggerton, better known as Egghead, is a drug lord who wears yellow and deals… crack. (I know.) (He got into crime early; his parents were poachers.) (Okay, I made that one up. I can’t help it.) I put him in jail earlier this year, but he escaped and fled north.
I was laughing so hard while writing this. You can see in the text exchange above where the suit and nickname came from. I was trying to come up with what his first name might be (my first idea was Sunny). I was so amused when I finally thought of Benedict. 😂 The poachers line is also from my friend T, and the “north” is a reference to Scotland, which comes back later as the Scotch Egg joke.
I draw my weapon, trying to look as menacing as possible. “I remember your blade being bigger,” he says, eyeing my kitchen knife. “Is it too cold for you in here?”
PFFFFFT I LOVE THIS JOKE okay so. I originally made Simon forget his sword because I thought the fight would be too easy - and going back to what I said above, he’s kind of returning to his “roots” with this fight - that spark he has that makes him a hero. And then I wrote the line “I remember your blade being bigger.” TO BE CLEAR, this was not originally intended as an innuendo.
And then my friend said something like ‘he should turn up the heating in this warehouse then’, and I was like OH DING DING DING PENIS JOKE! 😂I’m oblivious sometimes. I’m glad I realized in time because this is honestly one of my favorite villain lines I’ve ever written.
I really, really wanted to give the “too cold” line to Vampire. It would be perfect for him. But Simon always has his normal sword with Vamp, so Egghead it was. And he instantly became an icon. 😂
I twirl the knife between my fingers. “I can crack you anyway.” “Good effort,” Penny whispers. “But a bit rough on the delivery. 'Take a crack at you' might have been better...” “Sword or no sword,” I continue, “you’ll be an egg wash by the end of this.” “What?” Penny says. “Is that a baking reference?” Egghead cracks his knuckles, and his men rush me.
Much like Penny does later in the scene, I had a tab open of egg-related words up while writing this. I had to work in the baking reference. But a terrible one. There’s a French term for whisking eggs that basically translates to “beating eggs into snow” - and I wish it was a thing in English, because, you know, Simon Snow. Oh well. 😂
I Google a list of ways to make eggs. Simon needs to win this fight, but more importantly, he needs to get some egg-themed one-liners in there to show them who’s boss. Chances like this don’t come around very often.
Listen, Penny is very dedicated. I love the idea of heroes just being quick-witted and coming up with these ridiculous quips on demand. But ultimately, I thought it was funnier - and more in character for Penny - to do this. (Even though her Superhero name is Quickwit, oops.) She has the world of Google at her disposal. Egg puns may not seem important, but superhero image and reputation is half the battle.
Simon is being attacked from all angles, but he fights like a whirlwind. The bulky guys attack first, mostly with their fists. Simon kicks their legs out from under them. He throws them across the floor like they weigh nothing. “Behind you!” I say. Simon spins around and disarms the man behind him, twisting his arm, and I hear a shout through my earbuds. He grabs the guy’s knife and kicks him in the stomach, sending him sprawling. Simon Snow faces fifteen men with nothing but two knives, looking like he’s ready to explode.
I loved writing this from Penny’s POV. I am used to writing fight scenes from the POV of the person fighting, so this was definitely a cool challenge. It’s part of why I brought Penny into the scene in the first place - so I could show Simon in third person. Almost like we’re watching a movie and getting some overhead shots. From his POV, you don’t realize quite how awesome he is. So getting to showcase him like this was really fun.
I still have to wonder how Shepard knew… well, everything.
Don’t tell anyone but I didn’t know yet either
“He’s Scottish,” I tell Simon. “Scotch Egg.”
I know. This one’s bad.
He’s a blur of gold and white in motion. He throws his knife—I have no idea where he learned to do that—and it embeds itself in one of the men’s legs. He rolls across the floor, picking up two more discarded knives.
I don’t do a ton of plotting/outlining with fight scenes, but one thing I decide in advance is where and how everyone gets hurt. I didn’t want Simon to win the fight too easily, but I did need to injure him somehow. So it wouldn’t be too easy, but also to serve as a counterpoint to the socks thing later.
I watched a lot of action sequences to write this fic, especially with the trickier one vs. many scenes.
Simon tosses him like a sack of flour.
Couldn’t resist the baker!Simon reference.
“Hard or soft boiled,” I whisper. “Which way is it gonna be, Egghead? Hard or soft boiled?” Simon shouts. He whispers to me, “That was stupid.” Egghead raises an eyebrow. “Last chance to leave us alone, Blade.” I consult my list of egg dishes. “Give up before you get scrambled.” Simon twirls his blades. I love it when he does that; he looks like Deadpool. “It’s your last chance to surrender before you get scrambled.”
I loved the hard or soft boiled line at first. And then I wrote it down and said it out loud, just to check, and it sounded SO DUMB. 😂I almost took it out, but then figured—Simon is probably not going to think this through, either.
Maybe the Deadpool line was a bit on the nose here, but I wanted to give readers some really vivid imagery of what Simon looks like right now with these dual wicked blades kitchen knives.
“I prefer my eggs… poached,” he says.
Even though Egghead has turned out to be quite a serious villain—there are guns, drugs, and a backstory—he is, after all, original master of the egg puns. He would never turn down this opportunity.
Egghead scrambles (ha) to his feet
I think Penny is just me in this.
“Over-easy,” I whisper.
“That was over-easy,” he says.
Not my best. But it had to be in there.
I’ll skip the serious bits, since the plot there is pretty self-explanatory, to this:
I wish he’d asked what we serve, because I have so many egg puns at the ready. Eggs-ecution. Hash-ing out justice. Karma served hard.
My beta ashspren gave me this line, and I could not be more grateful. Imagine the chapter without this. It would be a shame.
Here are a few egg puns that didn’t make the cut, SADLY:
You're washed out, egghead
*Egghead gets angry* hey, it was just a yolk
I had to go "beat" some eggs
*uppercut* Sunny side UP!
I'll bash in your Eggnoggin’
Some people are just bad eggs
Sorry this is so long—this has been a purely self-indulgent experience. Thanks so much for this ask, I really enjoyed writing this and I hope you like it! ❤️

A breakdown of each of the ‘Shadowplay’ episodes to air on ZDF in October. On ZDF the series will be airing as four, two hour episodes. This is a translation from German, so forgive me if there are mistakes.
*SPOILERS* after the cut:
Episode 1:
In 1946, the New York police officer Max McLaughlin traveled to the divided city of Berlin to help set up a civilian police force based on the American model. Max reports to Tom Franklin, the US Vice Consul in Berlin, whose fragile and seductive British wife Claire is immediately drawn to Max. Her appearance at social events, her hatred of Germans and her uninhibited flirtations make her a colorful personality. Max is enchanted, but at the same time senses the danger she poses. On the German side, he works with Chief Inspector Elsie Garten, whose husband is interned in a Russian prisoner-of-war camp. Their task force consists mainly of women and orphans, whose chair legs serve as batons and who have moved into their territory in a disused bank. At the same time he is looking for his missing brother Moritz, with whom he is ominously connected through a traumatic experience in his childhood. But the Russians also cause problems: Max and Elsie barely manage to prevent Russian soldiers from shooting at defenseless German civilians who report to the unscrupulous Russian officer Izosimov. He also does not shy away from torture in order to snatch the information from the youngest member of the police force, the Jewish orphan Gad, which Elsie Garten can use for his purposes - and thus against the Americans. In another part of the city, Karin, who was raped by GIs, asks the Berlin doctor and criminal king Gladow, known as "the angel maker", for an illegal abortion. And for assistance in getting revenge on their tormentors. The price: the collaboration in his dangerous underground organization. Starting with the retaliatory murder of the GIs and followed by the murder of a random eyewitness, Karin gradually changes from a passive victim to an active perpetrator. But Max is not only concerned with the double murder of the GIs, but also with an anonymous tip that leads him to the corpses of an ex-Nazi and his family in an abandoned building. The gruesome act seems like a murderous staging of the first prank from the German children's book "Max and Moritz", with which the two American brothers have happy memories of their German mother. Max's brother Moritz is hiding behind the crime and is taking cruel revenge on Nazis in hiding. When Moritz reveals himself, he demands the oath of loyalty that he once wrested from his little brother: Max should go on a campaign of revenge with him against every law.
Episode 2:
Max receives pressure from his superior and US Vice Consul in Berlin Tom Franklin to investigate the GIs murder as quickly as possible. He himself is driven by the search for his brother Moritz, who he fears that he will strike again. And Moritz actually goes to the bike shop owner Berta Spiel in her shop and kidnaps her. Berta was an overseer in the Dachau camp and Moritz wants to get information about her former backers through her. In the meantime, Max and Elsie interrogate Karin - without knowing how close they are to the GIs murderer. However, immediately after being questioned, Karin went underground in Berlin. She fled to the "angel maker" and offered him her active participation in his organization. As a first assignment, she received the task of channeling information into the eastern sector together with Marianne. There, however, the two women are attacked by Russian soldiers and Marianne is seriously injured. At the same time, the police force observes the hotel "Alt-Bayern", in which "Der Engelmacher" runs a brothel, because they hope to find Karin there. Max meets Moritz's former commander, General Wright. He tells him about the traumatic experiences during the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp, which changed Moritz forever. And again Max receives a personal message from his brother Moritz. This leads him to a warehouse where he finds Berta Spiel, who died from her burns. The procedure is fatally reminiscent of the second prank from the children's book "Max and Moritz". Elsie meets with the Russian officer Izosimov, who gives her the opportunity to see her husband Leopold again - on condition that she provides him with information about Max. Elsie agrees and begins to observe her colleague. But then Max is kidnapped by the Nakam, a secret Jewish organization which, in turn, wages a campaign of revenge against Nazis who have gone underground and wants to win Max over for this.
Episode 3:
The two brothers' game of cat and mouse is drawing ever closer circles. Max doesn't find Moritz himself, but at least his hiding place: He has holed himself up in a boathouse where he abused his youngest victim - Oberlander, a high-ranking Nazi officer. In the meantime, the Jewish auxiliary police officer Gad has found out that Karin is actually staying in the Hotel "Alt-Bayern". When Max and Elsie want to arrest them, Karin fires an anti-aircraft gun at the police force. She manages to flee in the resulting tumult and to warn the "angel maker" about the police in good time. To protect himself, Karin persuades to kill the injured Marianne. She is too weak to flee. Karin does what the diabolical charismatic demands of her - and thereby betrays not only her only friend, but ultimately also herself. Claire visits Max in his hotel room and makes it clear to him that she wants more from him. Max still resists her charm and focuses on the search for his brother. When the two finally meet, the brothers engage in a merciless fight. They hit each other. Max remains unconscious on the floor and Moritz flees. When Max comes to, Oberlander is lying dead next to him. As if reflexively, Max disposed of the body. But he has to admit that his brother can no longer be saved and that he can no longer protect him. Since Karin and "Der Engelmacher" believe that the police have evidence against them in their hands, they plan an attack on the police station - an attack that no one should survive. Leopold in turn tries to escape from Russian captivity and is seriously injured in the process. Elsie asks Izosimov to let her husband go anyway. In return, she offers him to continue to cooperate with him. That same night Leopold tried to flee again with other prisoners. A firing squad kills all refugees. Only Leopold remains alive. At a party at Franklin's house, Max finally gives in to Claire's advances. Neither he nor Claire suspect that Franklin is watching them. And then Moritz shows up at the party - in an American uniform. None of those present took special notice of him. Moritz's goal is still to get his brother on his side. Max gives him one last chance.
Episode 4:
Moritz has found documents in Oberlander's house that show that his superior, Consul Franklin, supports old Nazis by providing them with forged papers and thwarting their prosecution. In return, Franklin demands stolen art objects. In his fanatical love of art, he is even ready to kill for this immoral barter. Max is now supported by Claire in his investigation. She gives him access to the basement of her villa and indeed there are many important works of art there. Claire is devastated when she realizes that her husband is cooperating with Nazis who wiped out her family during the war. She decides to leave Franklin and return to London. Meanwhile, Max and Moritz argue what should happen to Franklin. Moritz wants to shoot him, while Max advocates bringing Franklin to justice. The following day Moritz disguises himself as a chauffeur and kidnaps Franklin and Claire in their car. Elsie is very concerned about her husband's health. Although Leopold was able to escape the Russian firing squad, he is still close to death, as his tuberculosis is worsening day by day. Karin and "Der Engelmacher" rehearse how to deposit the bomb in the police station. Her assistant Trude proves to be too nervous, whereupon "Der Engelmacher" kills her in cold blood. Then he urges Karin to plant the bomb herself. The perfidious plan of the "angel maker" works: The bomb goes off, the police officers flee and the followers of the "angel maker" shoot down the escaping officials. But Karin is recognized. At the last minute, she escapes police access. Max arrives just in time to put the attackers on the run with Elsie. An assassin who is badly injured on the ground reveals the whereabouts of the "angel maker" to Elsie. Max and Elsie finally track down the "angel maker" and take him to the police station for interrogation. This calls for a conversation with the high-ranking American agent Bob Travis. His demand is met and he succeeds in evading legal access. It is now a precious bargaining chip under the protection of the US government. Moritz still keeps Claire and Franklin prisoner in a farm outside Berlin where the brothers grew up with their mother. Max follows him and is able to save Claire and Franklin from their brother's care. There is a gripping showdown between the brothers.

Gotham s5ep11  “They Did What?” Personal Review & Rambling
I DID IT .... I WATCHED THE GOTHAM FINALE
Tumblr media
“We need to make it a bomb again.” Absolutely no warning cause that’s all no spoiler anymore for a long time
So I´m not sure if it´s good thing I´m watching this ages late, partly I guess I could be more emotional, partly not. It´s sweet to see how everyone and their aunt is teaming up for the city. “Well, this is gonna make one hell of a bedtime story some day.”   With Nyssa al Ghul holding the baby I briefly totally forgot the plot and wondered where did that child come from again? And my brain went back to the (godawful) “Ra´s present for Barbara is a child” theory, and then I remembered oh no it was Jim ..and I was like .. eh, magic baby would have been the better plot. So that´s how we started this but at least Jim and Barbara were quite sweet, even with the child (I usually just cringe and crumble in sheer terror of what kind of responsibility a child is whenever one of those appears but they made it sweet)  BARBARA KEAN & JIM GORDON were such a great team!  Also Barbara just looks so damn fine, they really did good with that. And just bless the FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHERS of the Show , handcuffed Barbara taking out the guy with her legs > Jim later handcuffing Nyssa to keep her close to not get shot at < Good Stuff!  * ~ 24:05 even up to the Steps of SELINA KYLE , Just the way she walked before fighting Bane was such a neat detail   ”My father made his name destroying empires.” NYSSA AL GHUL I guess with more time she´s got potential but rushed like that her character is just boring.
“Can we really be so cavalier about the destruction of Gotham?” Oh OSWALD COBBLEPOT that´s part of why I fell in love with you. So he and EDWARD NYGMA go over the whole “listening to your heart never did you any good Oswald” spiel, and “I´ll miss you”, or “not so much”, Ed kind of is saying “don´t go” , but just not quite, the usual, you know, I can´t bring myself to care much but damn do I like watching their pretty selves talk through it.  * Edward later follows Oswald, claiming it´s about the city, says the submarine can only operated by two people, and actual people, dog didn´t work.  The usual. * Holy Shit, JIM GORDON ´s so gorgeous. It´s not like I had forgotten how pretty he is but damn that episode hit me hard again with Jim feels. Him over that map, going through their strategy. Daaaamn daaaaaaaaamn. * JIM GORDON & OSWALD COBBLEPOT in something that might as well be just fanfiction: “Oswald, come in.” / “Still have those eyes in the back of your head, Jim.” / “No. You just have a remarkably recognizable odor. Part dandy, part snake. After all these years, it hasn't changed. Drink?” / “No, thank you. Dulls the senses.” /  “That's what I was going for. Surprised you're still here. Figured you'd be long gone by now. That storm you've warned me about for so long, it's finally here.” /  “Sure, I could escape... with money, I might add... but then what? Stand on the shores of the mainland and watch the army burn it to the ground? Then watch tasteless industrialists and vapid politicians rebuild it? No. My life is etched on the walls of every alley and dirty warehouse here. My blood lives in its broken concrete. I'm staying to fight. For my legacy.” * LESLIE THOMPKINS caring about the people of the Narrows was great, I don´t know, if I like that she “abandoned” them in order to stand next to Jim but I can let it pass because of the way she did: She respected and trusted BARBARA KEAN to get them out. I can accept a plot that doesn´t pit those two women against each other (anymore). It was equally great that Lee just told Jim to “yes, go to your child”, and not to forget the scene where Barbara is thanking Lee for what she did, and “Barbara Lee Gordon”  * Lucius is full on providing gadgets for Bruce, including that Bat Beacon that slowed down Bane. Nice but eh.  Also they rehash Jeremiah´s plan to turn the city in a labyrinth to slow down the army. “We need to make it a bomb again.” Battery goes Bomb again, but eh, kind of fell flat for me
* HARVEY BULLOCK pointing out they are fighting SOLDIERS that are just following orders was a good touch. And it makes sense that JIM could brush that aside, he knows what they signed up for. That´s what you do, that´s what you accept. * Also I can stan a good  story that rejects and is a slap in the face of  the "NUREMBERG DEFENSE" so props to that! Just the execution fell so remarkably flat for me. I felt nothing then the people came back with Barbara, nothing when the soldiers pointed their guns at Bane.  BRUCE WAYNE & SELINA KYLE   Just Selina checking in with a “Bruce?” to make sure he actually wants to do that bomb thing was so precious. Also her recognizing that he is and accepting his choice. [Rant Below]  Them later sitting on the stairs and talking was sweet too, except for what they talked about.  SELINA KYLE MRs. & MR WAYNE So apparently they paralleled those in this episode 1.  Selina´s shadow is just right under the painting of Mrs & Mr Wayne and Bruce just plants the bomb right in the middle of her shadow ~19:40) 2.  Selina telling Bruce on the stairs she will be there whenever he needs her and Bruce replying that this is what his parents used to tell him.     Which is a good setup for the kind of conclusion Bruce draws out of all of this but also I´m gonna rant about it below but first:  3. Bruce says his parents would have and did sacrifice everything for the city. He´s making the same choice but apparently can´t see that Selina has as much a choice to do so as he and Mrs & Mr Wayne have .  So in the end I´m getting overly emotional, angry, hurt, let down to be precise:  How dare BRUCE WAYNE leave SELINA KYLE  behind like this?! Given the backstory that´s bound to be so much more painful than whatever Jeremiah or Bane ever could do. Selina has been through this after Jeremiah and she made a choice. She stayed, she thought and she was (not that that matters but let´s not forget it) damn good at it. I know Bruce thinks he´s making a “sacrifice” but how dare he take away this choice from her. How dare he hurt her like that.
* Most importantly though ALFRED PENNYWORTH in that COAT at the end looked so damn dashing. I´m in love. But I don´t like that they made a point of benching his character like that. He added plenty to the fight, he´s been in hospital before, he can add still contribute like he always did. Don´t let it end like this. Yeah I do need at least three seasons to magically happen before the 5th. OSWALY COBBLEPOT & EDWARD NYGMA Round #2  * Edward apologizes for freezing because of the grenade, Oswald understands. Edward gags when seeing Oswald´s hurt eye but claims it is just a scratch. * Back in a remarkable awesome looking place they lick their wounds: > Oswald feels not appreciated he wants “credit for our loyalty, our selfless bravery?” aka Love.  > Edward however feels better than everyone else. He used to be “Shy awkward, pathetic Ed”. Not anymore. He´s better! “I don't want their thanks. Or their respect. You know what I felt, standing shoulder to shoulder with those people out there? Nothing. I... feel... absolutely nothing for those drab... boring people.” Never again. I've shown this city who I truly am once before, and I will do it again. They will bow to the Riddler, and they won't get up until I permit them to.” >> The notion of the “Thankless Job” is there too with Ed but Ed get his kicks out of separating himself from the people, he´s different and above them he doesn´t care about their opinion and has no real stakes in their well being. Oswald however obviously still want´s the recognition of said people, and he wants the good and nice kind, so it´s important that they aren´t miserable.  However “Yes. You're right. Our accomplishments have been erased, our brilliant minds underrated. If they had let me run this city the way I wanted to, it would not be in ruins now. I had the men, the money, - the guns... “ 1. Oswald falls in line with Ed´s reasoning, appeals to his brilliance spleen but tweaks it for his need.  Edward says he has to rule and they have to bow to him.  Os says Ed is right, follows in line with Ed in reassuming a strife for leadership but adds his twist that this is necessary not so much because he (just as Ed thinks he is) is superior but because his leadership is “good” for the people. He´ll do good for them so they´ll like him.  >>> Oswald wants to rule to not have the city in ruins and get praised for that >>> Edward wants to rule because he´s better and deserves so regardless of other imbeciles thoughts or needs.  2. Divide et Imperare Edward is quick to make sure to point a finger to an enemy and separate Oswald from Jim “Gordon took them.”  Oswald just might as well try to go back to old methods and try build alliances with Jim and the law again, Edward recently saw Oswald and Jim kind of teaming up again and he just can´t have that. Just like Mr. Penn was in the way. Jim is a threat.  One to be undermined at all costs: “Gordon took them. Why? Because he still sees you as Fish Mooney's umbrella boy, and he always will.”
3. One Ring to bind them. Edward starts with a selfish reason but is quick to put Oswald back into the plan. First there´s “I” suddenly he talks about a “We”:  “I only came back to help him save this city so that I could take it for myself. We would be stronger together. No one could stop us.”  4. Do they believe each other?! Apparently they don´t because the both go in the hug with a drawn knife but are relieved when they don´t feel one in their own back. Which was really nice and fitting imagery. I can live with that “conclusion” but I have so much open questions.  I really got to look for post that worked through all of this. > Oswald obviously must be weary of Edward because (I just have to believe) that he sees through the manipulating words of Edward. (as listed above) [[[ Especially the scene with Jim: They had a rather respectful, familiar interaction. I can´t quite believe that he follows Edward´s claim that JIM only thinks of him as that umbrella boy. I do think Oswald gets that Jim takes him serious, just well considers all his crime stuff to be wrong, and that´s quite a different thing than what Ed claims.]]]  > What is Edward´s angle there? Yeah he might not have been able to operate the submarine alone but granted his speech it sounded like he would think that he is capable of taking the city for and by himself. Why is he appealing to Oswald to form a “we”?  Just to get him in the hug situation and test him, asses a possible future threat to his claims?  The only other proper motivation for that would be …. he likes Oswald.  5. “Brothers” Hahahah * Okay, but Oswald´s face when Edward and his mirror self do their thing …Damn …. * 8:26 Are the “Captain Jim Gordon” letters on his door window colour ??! * Jankey Piss Whiskey, what is Jim drinking?  * Oh no, not the General

Complicated: Raphael X OC x Spencer Reid - Chapter 2
Masterlist
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the flight from Virginia to New York City, Angel sat alone in the corner of the jet, looking over the file. While it looked liked she was reading the case file, her mind wasn't there at all. No, her thoughts were wrapping themselves around the possibility of seeing Raphael again.
It's been seven months since Angel last saw and even spoke to Raphael. She always knew that there was a possibility of a case in New York City, but she still hoped that it wouldn't happen. There was no telling how she would react. Would she break down and cry? Or ignore him and act as though their relationship never happened?
Yea right. Like that could ever happen. Raphael was her first love, and she knew that he still holds an essential place in her heart. The bigger question she asked herself is, why did she care so much? It was clear he didn't care about her and moved on very quickly. She should be able to do the same.
Angel got so caught up in her thoughts, and she almost didn't notice Spencer. Spencer noticed that she had been staring at the same page for the past half hour and got concerned. He walked up, taking a seat in front of her—he then gently tapped on the file, and drawing her attention towards his concerned eyes.
"Angel, are you okay? You've been staring at the same page for the past half hour." Spencer asked in a soft, concerned tone. He gently pulled the file from her hands and closed it, setting it on the table.
Angel looked up at Spencer and let a sigh escape her lips. It wasn't news that Spencer knew almost everything about Raph, but she hated to bring up her issues. In Angel's mind, her concerns were hers alone to cope. Not Spencer's. Not Emily's. No one except for herself.
Despite knowing and believing this, the minute Angel looked into Spencer's eyes; she couldn't help but tell him what she was thinking.  She knew that whatever they talked about in private, stayed between them with no judgment. Angel bit her bottom lip before she started to speak, "It's just......I left New York City seven months ago after Raph left me. The thought of possibly running into him is- I  don't even know how to explain it. I know in my heart, I still love him dearly, but at the same time, I can't help but still feel that pain. Pain that, I don't want ever to feel again. What if I see him and run right back into his arms? I don't want to give him that power again, but I also don't know if I'd be strong enough to reject him. I mean, I haven't seen or talked to him in seven months. I just, I don't know how to react to that." Angel finished her rambling and noticed her silent tears running down her face. Despite her crying, she also felt like a significant weight was lifted off her shoulders. Angel spent so long trying to bury these feelings and thoughts deep down; it felt nice to let them out.
Spencer listened patiently, and once she finished, he gave her a soft smile before reaching over the table to take her hand into his. He stuttered to come up with the words, but he knew what he wanted to tell her. "Angel, you always bear the world's weight on your shoulders, and you still worry about others that you forget to take care of yourself. While some find it a flaw- I see it, endearing. You are the smartest, kindest, most generous woman I've ever met. Not to mention, you are drop-dead gorgeous. I know you're not ready for a relationship, and I understand that. I just, I can't go on keeping it a secret anymore," Spencer paused for a moment, taking a deep breath before continuing, "I really like you. A lot. From the moment I met you, I've had a crush on you. I was just afraid to tell you because I didn't want to ruin our friendship, and I wanted to give you time to recover. But, after hearing your thoughts, I couldn't help but feel the need to tell you this. Especially if we do run into your ex. I didn't want to not tell you, then wake up one day and find out I was too late to tell you how I feel. I'll support you in whatever you choose, and if you want, I'll stay by your side if we ever do run into your ex." Spencer finished talking before he looked into her eyes.
The silence between them was nerve-wracking for Spencer. Had he ruined their friendship? Was she about to reject him? All his worries washed away when he saw Angel smile at him. She let a giggle escape her lips before running her thumb across the back of his hand"Spence, you are a fantastic profiler, but you aren't the best at hiding your emotions. Trust me, I've known you had a crush on me for a while now. I was just waiting for you to tell me. I'm not going to lie and say I don't also have a little crush on you, but you are right in the sense that I need a little time. But knowing you're willing to wait, it's amazing. Thank you. Hopefully, we don't run into Raph, but if we do, stay by my side, okay?" Angel asked hesitantly as she looked Spencer in the eyes. Spencer and the team were the only people she let her walls down for. They'd earned her trust, and they were all her family.
Spencer sighed in relief before he smiled at her, giving her a nod. He placed a soft kiss on her hand before he started to speak, "I'm glad you feel that way. I was super nervous to tell you, but I also understand that you aren't ready right now. I'll wait for you, and I'll stand by your side. I promise."
Angel and Spencer then started to talk about Doctor Who, where he filled her in on the plot of the latest episode. It was about 2 hours later when they landed in New York City. Grabbing all of their gear, the team deboarded the jet and walked over to two black SUV's and drove to the police station. During the drive, Angel looked out the window at New York City from inside the passenger seat of the SUV.
If she was sincere, nothing changed. It was still the same old New York City; it was when she left, yet she couldn't help but get a sense of being home. It didn't take long before they arrived at the police station. The team all made sure they had their credentials, badge, and guns on their person before making their way into the station.
The chief of Police walked up to the team, giving everyone except Spencer a firm handshake. "Hello, I'm Chief Cortez. You must be the BAU, thank you so much for coming up here in such a hurry. I've got a room for you to set up here." Chief Cortez said as he showed the team the room. All there was was a few boards, a table, and chairs.
Emily nodded at the police chief before speaking, "Thank you, sir. Have there been any more bodies discovered?"
The police chief shook his head before putting his thumbs through the front loops of his pants. "No, not since we called you in. I have every officer who isn't working another case though combing through alleyways and warehouses- basically any place we can expect to see a body." Chief Cortez said before nodding at the team. "I'll let you get to work then. Please, let me know if you need anything."
Emily smiled and nodded back, "We will. Thank you" she then turned her attention to the team to give them their assignments. "Alright, Lewis and Alvez, I want you two to go to the corner's and look at the three victims' bodies. See if there is anything we missed or couldn't see from the pictures. Simmons, I want you and Rossi to go scope out the dump sites and try to get into this guy's head. Angel, you and Reid will stay here and get a geographical profile going. I'll be going with Rossi and Simmons to the dumpsites."
The team all nodded, verifying their positions before they started to head their separate ways towards their assignments. Angel and Reid looked at where the victims were last seen alive, as well as the dumpsites to try and see if this guy had a comfort zone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been seven months since Angel left him, and Raph would be lying to himself if he said it was easy. He was such a fool to let her go, especially for an ex who didn't want him. After Raph broke up with Angel, he went to his ex-girlfriend's apartment and was about to knock on the window, before he saw her with someone new. The sight broke his heart, and he knew then and there that she didn't want him. He just saw what he wanted to see.
After he left his ex's apartment, he made his way back to the lair, where he sulked around for a couple weeks. He started to realize the mistake he made. Raph had just broken up with the woman who'd loved him unconditionally for the past year. He didn't waste any more time before he rushed out the lair towards Angel's apartment, but was shocked by the sight he saw.
Angel's apartment was practically empty, with the only items left was the furniture that came with the apartment. Raph's thoughts started to race around his head before shaking his head.
"No, no, Th-this can't be happening." He stuttered before racing around the apartment, trying to find any evidence that Angel was here. After two hours of relentless searching, Raph had finally come to a conclusion. Angel left. She wasn't here anymore, and it was all his fault. He walked over and plopped down on the bed. His heart started to hurt, and he felt a lump in his throat. She was gone, and it was his fault. Raph couldn't help but let his head fall into his hands as he cried.
As the months went by, Raph tried to do anything and everything he could to find her. He tried calling and texting her, searched all of New York City, even enlisted the help of Donnie to try and find her. Nothing worked. Eventually, Raph started to lose hope he would ever see her, and right the wrong he did.
Raph's attitude started to change. He became unmotivated and began to neglect himself. He didn't even bother to train with his brothers anymore simply because he had no motivation or energy to do so. His brothers and Master Splinter all began to worry but knew that there wasn't anything they could do to change his mind. Raph soon became a shell of who he was.
Tonight was the night they were all going on patrol, and Leo had made his way up the stairs towards Raph's door. He paused before raising his hand and knocking on his brother's door. "Raph? Are you in there?" Leo asked, waiting patiently for a response from his brothers.
Raph was lying on his bed, staring at a picture of Angel. He gently traced his fingers around her face before letting out a sigh and answering his brother. "Yea, What do you want?" He asked as he sat up.
"Well, we are about to leave for patrol. Do you want to go with us? Its been a long time since we've all went out. Maybe some fresh air would do you some good." Leo suggested, trying to coax Raph out of his room.
Raph looked over at his weapons that laid on the desk in his room. After giving some thought, what harm would going outside do? It's not like things can get any worse than they are now. "....Sure. Just let me get my things, and I'll meet you at the manhole." Raph grumbled as he stood up, grabbing his sais and putting them on his belt.
Leo sighed in relief before smiling to himself. "Alright, We'll wait for you then. I'd rather we all went to the manhole together." Leo said before walking down the stairs. "Well, he finally said yes to coming out with us," Leo said to Donnie and Mikey.
Donnie's eyes widened in shock before he smiled. "Really? That's great. I think some fresh air is just what we all need." Donnie said as he crossed his arms across his chest. He couldn't help but worry about Raph. It's been so long since Raph has even so much as trained with his weapons. If they get into trouble, is Raph still going to be able to protect himself?
Mikey sighed as he rubbed his arm, looking at his brothers. "Guys, I'm not gonna lie, but I really miss Angel. Do you think she's okay?" Mikey asked, his voice filled with concern. Of course, Angel's departure hit the entire family hard. They all really liked Angel and could tell how much she loved Raph. They worried if she was safe and how she was overall.
Leo sighed before he nodded at his younger brother, giving the best smile he could. "I'm sure Angel is doing great. I miss her too, but I think it's best if we don't mention her to Raph at all tonight, okay?" He asked his brothers. They nodded in unison just at Raph made his way down the stairs.
Raph looked over at his brothers and gave a sigh before walking over and hugging them tightly. It certainly hasn't been easy dealing with his mopping attitude for the past seven months. He couldn't help but wonder if they blamed him for Angel leaving. He slightly shook his head before letting go of his brothers. "Let's head out. The night is young." Raph said softly.
The four brothers all made their way through the pipes until they reached the manhole. One by one, they made their way up to topside and climbed the closest ladder up to the rooftops. Almost immediately, Raph started to feel a little better. It had been so long since he'd even seen the city lights, and he missed it so much. They all jumped from rooftop to rooftop, having fun and patrolling the area.
They were just passing by their favorite pizza place when Raph suddenly stopped in his tracks. Next to the pizza place was a coffee shop that was extremely popular in New York City. However, it wasn't the coffee shop that stopped him in his tracks. No. It was the woman who walked out of the coffee shop. Raph's eyes widened as he stared at her from afar. There was no doubt in his mind who this was. "Angel," Raph said softly as he watched her emerge from the coffee shop, holding two coffee cups.

An episode of my ideal Batfamily TV Show
Over the past few weeks I’ve been writing about how I’d make a Batfamily show. It got somewhat longer than I expected. I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about the dotpoint writing style, but at this point I’ve invested far too much effort not to start posting.
This is an extract from Chapter/Season One, aka the ‘Dick is Robin’ era. Specifically the ‘Dick is seventeen and starting to chafe under Bruce’s leadership, beginning to plan a move to Bludhaven’ era. The formatting doesn’t quite translate to tumblr, but the full chapter is available on AO3. Please check it out - other episodes include the time Batgirl accidentally told the internet Batman’s breath smells like pepperoni, has to frantically make sure he never finds out; a full-length flashback episode that draws paralles between how Dick met Bruce and how growing up changed their dynamics; Dick trying to work out the best way to invite Babs to prom; and a glimpse into what the general perspective of Bats are when Gotham City puts on a play about them. Lots of Batfamily fluff, and in the coming weeks another five seasons/chapters will be added to play around with character dynamics for everyone.
Season One, Episode Thirteen - Birdcage
One episode revolves around Dick Grayson, the billionaire ward of Bruce Wayne, getting kidnapped.
 Bruce is going frantic.
He can’t even leave because he has a dozen police with him at all times. It’s clearly killing him that Batman can’t go.
Batgirl on the case, though.
Bruce is trying to whisper tips about the detective work into his phone without letting Detective Montoya see him. Batgirl grumbles that she knows what she’s doing.
Dick, meanwhile, is very bored.
He’s tied up on a chair, trying to entertain himself by untangling the knots. Whenever the kidnappers glance at him, he goes still again, not letting them realise his hands are free.
He makes it into a game, waving and pulling faces whenever they look away.
They don’t catch him at this, but when moving him to a new location, they put a blindfold on.
Naturally, Dick takes this off as part of his game. Just slightly, only barely enough that he can peek.
It has the added bonus of letting him see the kidnapper’s faces once they remove their ski-masks.
Less of a bonus when one of them comes over and sees the hint of Dick’s iris peeking through a gap.
The one that finds it curses violently, and tries to pull it back to where it should be.
“Just take the whole thing off; it’s not worth it if he’s already seen our faces.”
The kidnappers call Bruce.
He’s sitting in the police precinct, waiting impatiently and frustrated that he can’t do anything.
When he realises who it is he waves over Gordon, putting it on speaker phone.
“I’m here. Where’s Dick — is he okay?” Bruce asks, an odd mix of frantic and controlled.
“He’s fine. Have you got our money?”
Gordon cuts in. “We want proof of life, first.”
  “Alright, fine.”
Back in the warehouse, the phone is jammed to Dick’s ear. “Hi, Bruce.”
“Dick! Are you okay? Have they hurt you?”
“I’m fine.” Dick glares at the kidnappers.
“For the time being,” the lead kidnapper corrects, taking the phone back. “Have you got our money, Mr Wayne?”
“Yes, yes,” Bruce’s voice comes over the phone. “I’ll send it through now, just don’t hurt Dick.”
The kidnappers wait until their laptop announces that money has been paid into the account. The one sitting on the laptop nods at the one with the phone, while the third waits in the corner.
“Well, it looks like that’s all come through,” the lead kidnapper says. “Which means I’m actually really sorry about this, Mr. Wayne.”
Dick immediately stiffens. The boredom vanishes from his face.
“See, if all had gone according to the plan, we would have handed him over now. But unfortunately, someone put the blindfold on him wrong, and he saw our faces.”
Dick’s eyes widen as the man takes out a gun and hefts it at him. “Wait—”
“Please understand, this is just protocol.”
The scene switches back to the precinct as a gunshot echoes.
 BANG!
“No!” Bruce jumps to his feet, so hard that he nearly overturns the table.
Gordon goes white, and the rest of the police listening in look alarmed.
The phone keeps playing, sound of something crashing, a fight going on off-screen.
Shot changes back to the warehouse.
A bullet is embedded in the wall.
Dick is standing in the middle of three unconscious men, breathing heavily. “Please understand, this was just protocol,” he mutters venomously.
He picks up the gun, unloading it before placing it safely on the table. Then he turns around to focus on the squawking phone.
  “Richard, are you there?”
  “Dick, Dick, talk to me!”
  “What is happening?”
He almost takes it, before he pulls back, glances at the unconscious men around him.
Bruce at the precinct is still looking sick before a new voice hits the speakerphone.
“Batman, the phone’s still going.” The voice sounds muffled, as if whoever’s speaking is halfway across the room. “Could you maybe get it… nope, heaven forbid you ever talk to anyone. Fine, I’ll do it.” The voice clears up as the phone is picked up. “Heya, this is Robin. Yes, that Robin. Don’t worry, Grayson’s safe.”
Bruce lets out a long slow breath, and needs to clutch at the desk to remain standing. Colour begins to return to his face.
Gordon takes the phone. “Hi, Robin. Gordon here. Can we talk to Richard?”
Camera changes back to Dick, holding the phone.
“Heya, Commish!” ‘Robin’ says it cheerier than would be natural, his voice slightly higher than usual. “Sure thing, just give me a second. The kid’s, um, throwing up. But you know the first attempted murder’s always the hardest.”
“No rush,” Gordon says in the precinct, checking with his eyes to see if Bruce is okay with that. Bruce nods. “Can you tell me what happened?”
“Nothing special, really,” Robin says, grimacing despite his cheery tone. “Batman and I tracked down these guys, and right on time. Stepped in before it could get ugly. We’ll leave them tied up for you at the scene.”
He reaches for his belt, realises he’s not wearing it, and goes for the rope that had attached him to the chair.
“Okay. Where are you?” Gordon’s voice is mildly scratchy — the signal isn’t great.
The question makes Dick freeze. He glances at the window, and can only see that they’re several storeys above the ground.
The shot changes back to the station as ‘Robin’ stumbles for an answer. “We are… hold on, one second I’m talking … just a minute… okay, fine, here.” There’s a stumble of movement as if the phone was being passed from hand to hand, and then a new voice comes on.
“Bruce?” The ‘Dick Grayson’ voice is quieter than ‘Robin’, soft and very shaken and not as high pitched. “Are you there?”
“I’m here, Dickie,” Bruce says immediately. “Are you okay?”
“I’m — I’m fine. Robin and Batman got here just in time.” Dick’s voice hesitates. In the warehouse, he’s struggling to tie up one of the men who’s semi-conscious. “Robin was so cool when he broke in, he just took the guy out like that!”
In the precinct, Bruce can’t help but roll his eyes. But he’s smiling nonetheless.
Dick moves onto tying up next kidnapper, holding the phone at arm’s length. “You weren’t too bad yourself with that flip out of the way, kid,” he says as Robin. “Where did you learn to do that?”
Switches back to ‘Dick’. “The circus.’
‘Robin’: “Well, nothing beats Bat training, but that was pretty cool.”
Batgirl bursts in through the window.
She lands on the ground in a perfect spring, and then pauses to notice the unconscious men.
“Di—”
Dick shakes his head frantically, striking one hand across his throat. “Hey, Batgirl!” he says gleefully, his voice contrasting with his expression. “Sorry, I can’t talk right now. I’m on the phone with the Commish, talking about how me and Batman saved Grayson.”
“Right.” Batgirl nods once, relaxing against the wall. “Sorry I’m late.”
“No sweat. Batman and Robin are capable of doing this ourselves.” He winces when Batgirl raises an eyebrow. “Sorry Commish, gotta go, we’ll drop the Grayson kid off for you on the ground.”
He hangs up.
“ ‘Batman and Robin are capable of doing this ourselves’?”
“I know, I know, don’t mock me.” Dick rubs his hand over his forehead. “It was the first thing I thought of.”
They decide Batgirl should deliver Dick back to safety.
Batgirl takes the phone back, texts an address to the precinct, and hangs up.
They finish locking up the criminals, and then wait at the window until they see a patrol car approaching.
“Alright. Let’s go.” Batgirl opens the window and holds out her arms to Dick.
“What – what are you doing?”
“Well, you can’t exactly swing down yourself, Boy Wonder.”
“Oh. Right.”
Dick is awkward about pressing himself so close into Batgirl, wrapping his arms around her neck securely. “Is this okay? Am I hurting you?”
Batgirl doesn’t even answer, just wraps one arm around his back and then other to her grappling hook.
They swing out the window. Dick gasps and clutches tighter without entirely meaning to.
They land behind the police car.
“Wow, that is terrifying when it’s not your line,” Dick whispers in her ear.
“Go on.” Batgirl pushes him forward to the police rushing towards them.
Dick obligingly untangles himself from her and sprints towards them, collapsing theatrically to whimper when he reaches the patrol.
Bruce arrives later in Gordon’s car.
Dick is sitting in the patrol vehicle, a shock blanket draped around his shoulders when he sees his guardian.
He jumps up and runs forward, hugging Bruce.
Bruce hugs him back.
Later, they’re driving back home.
It’s the first time the two have been alone since Dick got kidnapped.
“In all honesty. Are you okay?”
“Yeah, sure. I’m fine,” Dick says dismissively. There’s no sign of the fact he’d been crying moments before he got into the seat.
“Good. I’m glad.” Bruce hesitates. “I was… worried, when I heard that gun go off.”
“Didn’t think I could handle it?” Dick challenges.
“That’s not what I meant and you know it.”
Dick’s jaw tenses, but he relaxes into the chair, finally safe. “Yeah. I know.”

Well, first of all, we had a lovely Warehouse Agent from our Patreon page where people can be Patrons for our show (Hey, did I mention we have a Patreon) introduce us!
This week’s Warehouse Agent was a representative from Emp-RSS.com, an online presence dedicated to empowering women to find their voice and providing mentors for young women entering the workforce. I can’t think of a Patron more appropriate to Myka’s arc this episode.
So, the first thing we had questions about was what all the jurisdictions were for the Secret Service, CIA, FBI, and NSA. I linked the answers above, They’re pretty dry, BUT—
The interesting thing I found—as a person who is decidedly NOT a law enforcement agent or a lawyer—is that basically the Secret Service’s jurisdiction is basically whatever protects presidents, vice presidents, former presidents and their spouses and children. Unlike other agencies that have geologically defined jurisdictions, the Secret Service’s jurisdiction seems pretty vague. I can definitely see how that could be exploited by the Warehouse. Pete and Myka are technically protecting those people but also protecting, like, literally everyone else in the world. LOL.
The episode opened with Pete and Myka in France taking the blade of the guillotine that took the life (and head!) of Marie Antoinette. Want to know more about Marie Antoinette and her grizzly end? Boy, oh boy do the History Chicks have you covered! They have an amazingly detailed and informative two part episode dedicated to her fascinating life—there was much more to her than a beheading and a misquote about some cake (Part 1, Part 2). The link to each part links to the audio for each episode as well as the show notes for each respective section. Don’t worry about the fact that the episode is called a “reboot.” You’re not missing something. The first episode of the History Chicks ever recorded was about Marie Antoinette, and it was very poor audio quality. They deleted the original file, re-recorded the episode, and included new information the second time around—hence, reboot.
Still not enough Marie? Don’t worry! There’s more! On the History Chicks’ side podcast, The Recappery, they recap the 2006 film, Marie Antoinette. That episode is also a two-parter (Part 1, Part 2).
There are so many emotional moments in Marie Antoinette’s life that could have led to the creation of artifacts. The History Chicks cover those and anything else you want to know, too! They did a series of Biography Channel mini-documentaries on famous historical women. Three(!) of them focused on Marie Antoinette: a general one about her life, one about the scandalous but rarely discussed affair of the diamond necklace, and one about her small house called the Petit Trianon on the grounds of Versailles.
Moving on, we talked about the famous Mission Impossible scene that Pete was attempting to imitate with perhaps, ahem, a tad less grace. This is the image we were talking about:
Miranda brilliantly discussed the importance of Affect Theory to the Warehouse and its artifacts. Here’s a very brief overview about that.
Miranda made a reference to the purple goo shower that Artie inflicted on Myka and Pete being like slime. For those who didn’t grow up watching the American television network, Nickelodeon, here’s what you need to know about getting slimed. It was a huge thing when we were growing up. On kid/family game shows on Nick (the affectionate slang name for Nickelodeon Network), contestants who lost or got a wrong answer or who won a prize were punished/rewarded with being slimed—i.e. having green goo rained down upon you from above. Why were punishments and rewards both related to slime??? 1) Because it’s always funny to see adults have copious amounts of green goop poured onto adults heads. 2) It supposedly tasted like vanilla pudding!
To this day, adults attending or presenting at the Kids Choice Awards (presented by Nick) should be wary…anybody can be slimed.
We also mentioned that Myka and Jill share a love of True Religion flap-pocket jeans. Here’s what those are.
We talked about the collaborative involvement between M.C. Escher, Nikola Tesla, and Thomas Edison in the early days of the Warehouse.
Tesla and Edison didn’t like each other very much. And the internet is full of links that can fill you in as to why. I wouldn’t even know where to start. So, instead, please enjoy this rap battle between Tesla and Edison from the legendary Epic Rap Battles of History YouTube channel. (I can’t speak for Miranda, but I am totally #TeamTesla).
We also went into a little more detail on M.C. Escher. In particular, we discussed his art works, Relativity and Drawing Hands.
We also discussed his vital contributions to science and to mathematics (Math Link 1, Math Link 2).
Jill also talked about how much second-hand embarrassment she felt when Myka started talking about how much she hated men to Father Braid. Here’s actual footage of Jillian watching that scene.
That scene and earlier discussions of Myka’s feminist rage led to a discussion about the Bechdel Test. The test is a huge part of feminist theory, media studies, and film studies. And, honestly, it’s a super low bar that you’d be astounded how few pieces of media even reach. Want to see if your favorite movie passes the test? Click here! There’s actually a film festival dedicated to celebrating films that pass the test. The theory is not without its critics, however. Many people think that the bar of the Bechdel Test is not high enough and we need to expect more of female representation in media than their mere existence in scenes together and the absence of discussions about men. I’m inclined to agree that we should expect more, but I also think that the Bechdel Test is still a great way to assess if a piece of media is able to do a basic job of representing women on screen. Interested in the criticism? There’s an op-ed from The Washington Post and The Verge that might pique your interest.
When discussing magnetism, with Jill and with our incredible and intelligent guest, Kameron Sanzo, Miranda mentioned her (not really) favorite song (LOL). Here’s that song that asks the ever important question, “Fuckin’ Magnets. How do they work?!”
If you’re actually interested, this is how magnets work.
Anyway…
Other things Miranda discussed with our guest, Kameron Sanzo, include animal magnetism and mesmerism as well as hypnosis. Some cursory information about the founder of Mesmerism, Anton Mesmer, can be found here. A fun exploration of mesmerism can be found in the eleventh episode of the Audible original podcast, Stephen Fry’s Victorian Secrets, which has been linked before in a previous episode’s show notes, because of its relevance to Spiritualism. You can purchase the podcast from Amazon or with an Audible subscription.
Of course, this episode would not be complete without addressing the creator of this week’s artifact, James Braid. There was some discussion of the similarities and differences between hypnosis and mesmerism especially before and after the development of the scientific method.
Now, I’m not a doctor.
(And yes, I know that fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Parks and Recreation just said “Not a doctor” in the voice from the end credits. Don’t worry, Internet. I’ve provided a clip of that for you, also)
Now that we’ve got that out of the way…
I’m not a doctor and don’t want to seem like I know too much about the evolution and modern usage of hypnosis/hypnotherapy in a medical sense. But what I can say is that—while mesmerism is widely understood by scientists to not be a real thing—hypnotherapy is actually still quite relevant to modern medicine. Its origin may share the outlandish nature of mesmerism. However, there is apparently a difference between traditional and modern hypnosis. There is also a difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy. The Mayo Clinic goes into more detail on the topic as does Psychology Today.
Kameron Sanzo also compared mesmerism and hypnosis with Reiki. Here’s a couple links that provide more information on what Reiki is (Link 1, Link 2).
Finally, we also discussed the use of filmic language and angles and how they can induce feelings of fear and anxiety. No one was better at this than Alfred Hitchcock. Here’s some information on the filmic language he created (high-angle shots, other techniques).
Now, let’s delve into some ~Heavy Themes~
We gave a shout-out to Eddie McClintock to celebrate his 18 years of sobriety! A monumental achievement!
Addiction is a serious issue and if the themes covered in this episode of the podcast or show regarding addiction affected you in any way and you need or want help, here are some links that may provide what you’re looking for.

If you have a few moments, and are so inclined, would you consider spearheading a discussion, as brief or as verbose as you wish, about the Legendary Garbage Dates? Like, when, what made it a GD, and HOW MUCH of a awkward horrible trash king dumpster fire was Flynn,-aka Charms McGee-during each??? Only YOU can write this in the way it needs to be written.
hoooo okay okay okayyyyyyy
the garbage dates!!!! aka 1x11 was possibly the first Official of the garbage dates, but garcia flynn had been horribly failing to court the woman he has a crush on for so, so many episodes beforehand. so many. let us briefly recap and rate garcia flynn’s romantic efforts extended fart noises.
1x01: wants to talk to lucy in the warehouse by himself. sends a goon to grab her and announce, “flynn wants to talk to you!!” this fails, because somehow this doesn’t make ladies swoon. catches her outside the burning hindenburg that he just tried to blow up. lucy shouts at him that he’s a psychopath who killed his family; he pulls out her journal and tells her that he knows her life story and that they are destined to work together/Do Great Things. then grabs her around the neck and points a gun at wyatt when he arrives, fucks things up horribly, and runs off like a little bitch. 0/10.
1x02: “we have to stop meeting like this, lucy!!!” on their second meeting, when you know his trash ass loves it, right after shooting at the team/wyatt. lucy is so god damn annoyed with him she just yells, he loves it, but is offended she hasn’t jumped aboard the destroy rittenhouse train yet. later, busts into the box at ford’s theatre, sees her, brain glitches, then shoots her favorite president in front of her eyes, grabs her, throws her on a couch, fucks things up horribly, and runs off like a little bitch. negative eleventy billion/10. i can’t even look at him.
1x03: doesn’t actually get to talk to lucy in this episode. steals a nuclear bomb instead. 0/10.
1x04: strolls up to lucy like a suave motherfucker in his pinstriped suit, stares at her with a “don’t you find me irresistible???” lowered-eyes, puckered-lips gaze while she shouts at him about wernher von braun. gets her caught by nazis, clearly regrets this, fucks things up horribly, and runs off like a little bitch. 0/10.
1x05: doesn’t actually get to talk to lucy again. does not prevent him from, once more, fucking things up horribly and running off like a little bitch, desperately hoping she’ll save his ass. 0/10.
1x06: kidnaps lucy and co, ties wyatt to a chair, threatens to kill him and monologues at him thinking they will be friends, “you still haven’t told them about us, lucy???” trying to sound like they’ve been having some passionate affair through history. delighted and proud when she sets him up with rittenhouse. fails at everything else. 0/10.
1x07: fucks things up horribly and runs off like a little bitch, but offscreen. 0/10.
1x08: doesn’t see lucy, but saves his brother and sees his momma and i will award him exactly one point for it. 1/10. don’t get used to it, flynn.
1x09: clearly just watched everything she and wyatt did so he could copy it when they go on their own undercover date in the 1930s in 2x06. odds of him pulling this off are very low. 0/10.
1x10: OH SWEET LORD. FLIRTS AWKWARDLY WITH LUCY. STARES AT HER ADORINGLY. THEY CHECK EACH OTHER OUT. THERE ARE MOMENTS. SHE EVEN HELPS HIM GET TO RITTENHOUSE AND HE FIGHTS WITH WYATT TO SAVE HER. THEN… NEARLY KILLS JOHN RITTENHOUSE, KIDNAPS HER, DRAGS HER OFF TO THE TIME MACHINE, RUNS OFF ETC ETC, BUT WITH HER. GOD. GARCIA. GARCIA WHY. 2/10.
1x11: the e p i t o m e  of the garbage date. he steals her a dress. in his favorite color. calls her “honey” pretending to be arguing with his wife. takes her for a drink at a table with a fucking little candle and tries to make her actually think he would ever kill her. sends her friends to the murder castle. lets her volunteer for HARRY GODDAMN HOUDINI MASTER OF ESCAPES while gazing at her with red construction paper heart eyes. is somehow surprised when this backfires. negative 100/10.
1x12: doesn’t see lucy, regrets all life choices. 0/10.
1x13: “lucy if wyatt saves his wife i’m single???” 0/10.
1x14: oh. my. god. sees lucy for the first time since the escape in 1x11. promptly orders karl to unhand the wife and gives her aren’t i sultry but obnoxious looks while she orders him not to kill charles lindbergh. only pretends to comply because he is the actual, breathing worst. looks really good in a bomber jacket, though. 1/10.
1x15: GETS RUFUS SHOT??? LIKE. THERE ARE NOT SUFFICIENT NUMBERS IN EXISTENCE TO RATE YOUR FAILURE IN THIS EPISODE. GO SIT IN THE CORNER. GO SIT IN THE CORNER GARCIA. EVEN YOU WITH ROLLED UP SLEEVES AND A SHOULDER HOLSTER BEATING UP A RITTENHOUSE GUY WILL NOT ATONE YOU. NEGATIVE ONE TRILLION/10.
1x16: is a lonely sad disaster hobo in a suit, plays with explosives, cries when lucy preston says one (1) nice thing to him, realizes that oh hey this journal thing was kind of a miracle, imagines her naked, flirts, then gets arrested. bellows at lucy that he will never forgive her. sure, garcia. sure. 1/10.
2x01: “i’ll only talk to lucy.” just. just. no effort. no effort whatsoever was made. 0/10.
2x02: has managed inventive way to talk to crush, gives intel but warns that the next one will cost her. nobody believes him. 0/10.
2x03: lucy tells him they need him and promises to get him out of jail. draws bad pictionary clue 2 seconds later; enjoys most extra day of his recent life during the jail break of his dreams, strolls into the bunker looking like sin and immediately causes sexual crises. enjoys it greatly. 2/10.
2x04: “what my wife failed to mention” and literally everything else. doodling “mr. lucy preston” in his notebooks. will fuck up the world if she tells him to. so in love he can’t see straight. yet again, no effort whatsoever was made, but he did save the wife and manage to be genuinely sweet to her. 3/10.

EPISODE 15
Nevada stood in the Green room of the club late that night, watching as Omar and Jose brought in the last of the gun haul they would be moving with the bikers in just a few days. With their warehouses under watch, the club was the safest place for their contraband until the new police captain fell in line with all the other cops Trujillo had on his payroll. But since the man was fresh in the precinct, Nevada knew he would want to make his mark as the captain that would change the Heights and would be waiting for Nevada and his men to make a mistake.
Not on my watch, pendejo, Nevada thought to himself with a smirk.
They’d closed two the VIP rooms for “repairs,” which hadn’t sat well with the strippers at first, but Nevada always took care of his girls and had offered them all an additional thousand bucks an hour. With the escort business in Harlem doing so well, he could afford it easily without taking money out of anyone’s pocket except his own, which he would make back tenfold once this load of guns were delivered.
His phone rang and Nevada reached into his pocket as Omar brought in the final crate and answered. “Si?”
“Heads up, man, the new captain’s hardon is pointed right at the club,” Reyes said in a hushed voice, obviously still at the precinct and being careful to not be overheard.
“You gotta be fucking kidding me,” Nevada growled.
“I wish. Think he’s hoping to find illegal girls or prostitution going on there.”
He wouldn’t find either of those, that much Nevada knew for certain. He was always careful to vet every girl to make sure they were of age and legal citizens, and if he had ever caught wind of any of his girls selling pussy on the side, that girl would not only lose her job, but she’d also lose her head. The businesses Nevada kept were always legitimate on paper as well as in their operational practice. The only illegal activity was the dirty money being laundered through that business.
What the chief would find, however, were twenty five crates filled to the brims with semi-automatics and assault rifles, all illegal and all carrying a prison sentence of up to seven years for each weapon.
“Fuck,” Nevada spat. “When?”
“Tomorrow morning. He’s getting a search warrant from an old college buddy of his,” Reyes answered.
“Alright, thanks for the heads up,” Nevada replied. “I’ll make sure you get a little extra something this week.”
“You got it.”
Hanging up his phone, he looked up at Omar again. “You’re gonna fucking kill me.”
“Jesus Christ, what?”
“Fucking new captain’s coming in the morning to search this mother fucker, we gotta get rid of these,” Nevada answered.
“Fuck you,” Omar groaned as he tossed his head back.
Nevada dialed Josiah as he spoke to Omar. “Yeah, I know, bro. This guy’s a fucking pain in my asshole already. Chibby better find some dirt on this scrubby fuck before I make some dirt.”
“What is it with this guy’s hardon for you? You’re not that good looking,” Omar teased with a smirk.
“You know you’d suck my dick if I asked you nicely,” Nevada joked right back, putting the phone to his ear.
“Fuck that, I’d make you my bottom bitch,” Omar chortled, earning a laugh from Nevada.
“Si?” Josiah answered.
“Oye, we gotta bring some hardware over to Hechicera for the night,” Nevada said.
“How much space you need?”
“A room would probably be fine. Twenty-five packages, all heavy hitters,” Nevada answered.
“Yeah, I can open a room for you. Gonna need some gratitude for the tenant.”
“I’ll take care of it, don’t worry. We’ll be there in a couple hours,” Nevada replied, hanging up. “Alright let’s start getting this shit back into the van. We’re gonna take it to Harlem.”
Omar sighed, nodding his head before he lifted a crate and took it back to the van.
“I’m gonna update the girls and then I’ll come help you,” Nevada said, going to the main room of the club.
He looked around for an available dancer, which on a Saturday, especially in the heavy hours of the evening, was a tall order. The club tended to draw in an endless supply of customers on the weekends, from the morning to the wee hours of the night. He saw Lola--a tiny yet curvy woman with mocha skin that would make any man’s mouth water and an ass you could bounce a quarter off of--standing by the bar, obviously on her break since she spoke only to Barry and wore a silk robe around her lingerie. Coming up behind her, Nevada slid a hand over her hip and brought his mouth to the skin just beneath her earlobe.
“Tell the girls the VIP rooms will be open in two hours,” he purred.
“Aww,” she replied, feigning a pout and she arched her hips to rub against his groin suggestively. “No more extra thousand an hour?” she teased, turning her head towards him.
“Coño, mami, you’ve already been here four hours plus two more I’m giving you. Six grand ain’t enough?” he replied with a smirk.
She turned in place and slid her hands over his chest as she looked up at him from beneath her thick lashes. “A night with you would be better.”
He smirked. “You gotta talk to my wife about that.”
She grinned up at him. “I’ll let everyone know.”
“Good girl,” he replied, dipping his head to give her a peck on the lips before he went back into the green room to help Omar.
“You know, we got guys that could do this,” Omar said as he lifted another crate.
“Nah, we gotta take care of this from start to finish. Too risky using low-level guys, especially with this new captain. We gotta be smart,” Nevada answered. “Sides, you’re starting to get a dad-bod. You could use a work out.”
“Fuckin’ asshole,” Omar chuckled as he and Nevada carried crate after crate to the van parked in the alley behind the club.
Once they had all the guns out of the VIP rooms, Nevada handed Omar the keys. “Josiah’s waiting on you already, and just make sure to give his girl six grand for the room.”
“Alright,” Omar replied.
“Oye, take the back streets, stay off Amsterdam,” Nevada said.
“You got it.”
Jose leaned back against the bar in the club the next morning as the cops walked out empty-handed. Nevada had dealt with overzealous cops before, but none as hungry as this new captain. This one wouldn’t stop until Nevada was in cuffs, especially with elections coming up in a few months. Putting away a major player in the drug and gun trade would catapult anyone’s career and Jose wasn’t sure Nevada would be able to worm his way out of this Captain’s sights.
He could always spot something out of place in the club. That meant he saw the six-foot brown haired kid he helped raise from a mile away. Eddie strode into the club in a way that made it clear he had no idea how to behave in such a place. When his eyes met Jose’s, the boy made a quick beeline to him.
“Slow down, bumble bee. What’s up?” Jose asked.
“I wanted to talk to you,” Eddie said.
“Okay...so talk,” Jose answered. “Outside.”
Eddie nodded and the two moved outside of the club. There was a moment of silence as Eddie seemed to gather his thoughts and ran his fingers through his hair.
“So…Greyson and I are moving to Miami.”
Jose’s brows shot up on his forehead. “Shit. When?”
“I'm not sure yet, but soon.”
“That’s great. Good for you, kid,”Jose replied with a smile.
Eddie looked down at his feet for a long time before finally speaking again. “I want you to come with me…”
“That’s not happening,” Jose answered, shaking his head. “The hell am I supposed to do in Miami anyway? My life is here.”
Eddie's face fell. He knew it was a long shot, but he'd held out hope for a miracle.  “You've been with me my whole life...I guess I was just hoping.”
“You’re not a kid anymore, mijo,” Jose replied. “You don’t need anybody to take care of you. You’re a grown man now.”
Eddie nodded.“I know but, I'll miss you, ya know?”
“I’ll miss you too,” Jose replied. “You’ll be okay. I think it’s good you’re getting away from all this.”
“Me too,” Eddie said. “I'm afraid I don't know who I am without my family. I need to find out.”
“Yeah, you do.” Jose looked up in time to see an unmarked police cruiser posted across the street. “The sooner, the better if you ask me,” he added in a mumble.
Eddie looked at the car as well, moving to hug Jose. “You were my first best friend. I won't forget that.”
“I love you, too, kid,” Jose replied, patting Eddie on the back. He never had been one for physical affection, even with someone he thought the world of. “You’ll be fine. Just do yourself a favor and stay far away from people like us.”
Eddie smiled, “I'll see what I can do.”
“Good. You gonna go to school down there?” Jose asked.
Eddie nodded. “Yeah I'm looking at schools but probably University of Miami.”
“That’s a tough school to get into. Expensive too. You should check FIU, my cousin went there. Said it’s a good school.”
Eddie nodded and smiled. “Thanks.” He looked nervous, he wanted to start this new chapter, but even contemplating leaving had been hard. Everyone was so supportive and happy for him. It made him wonder if he'd even be missed.
“You gotta let your tio know where you land so I can come see you. Get down to Miami beach and grab me a nice tan,” Jose teased.
“Guys in Miami aren't half bad, ya know.” Eddie smirked and shrugged casually.
“How do you know? You’ve never been there,” Jose replied with a smirk.
“I've seen the brochures. We could find you someone nice, stable, easy going, just like you,” he said with a roll of his eyes and a laugh. “Maybe a nice Mormon boy.”
Jose shook his head. “No, no...the only guys I look for are pieces of ass. One and done. I don’t do that whole bullshit fairytale of thinking I could have a family. You kidding me? He’d be dead or gone inside a week.”
“Cause you do that dangerous shit. Get a better job.”
Jose arched a brow. “I like my job. Pays good, good hours...besides I didn’t go to college, what am I gonna do? Work some minimum wage job, bust my ass 12 hours a day for peanuts?”
“I worry about you. Minimum wage is better than dying.”
“We’re all gonna die someday,” Jose answered with a shrug. “That’s life. Everybody’s got their day.”
Eddie thought for a moment before nodding. “That's true, I guess.”
“But you don’t gotta worry about that,” Jose replied, patting Eddie on the shoulder. “Greyson happy?”
“Yeah he really is. Wants a new start, ya know?”
“Yeah, I don’t blame him,” Jose answered. “It’ll be good for you both.”
Eddie smiled before looking at his phone. “Shit, I gotta go, I gotta head to class but...can we hang out, just us before I go?”
“Yeah, we can probably work something out,” Jose answered.
Eddie nodded before he gave Jose a wave and started to walk towards the subway.
Rafael sat near the window of the cafe down the street from his mother’s apartment, using an index finger to idly trace over the rim of his cup. He heard the bell ring at the front of the shop and looked up as Lucia searched for him. When she met his eyes, he offered a hesitant smile and stood as she came towards him.
She sat down and Rafael sighed heavily. Usually she would kiss his cheek whenever she saw him, except when she was angry with him. “Okay...I guess you’re still upset.”
She quirked a brow. “Could you blame me?”
He bit his bottom lip and nodded. “No, I guess not,” he mumbled. Running a hand through his hair, he looked up at her. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. I thought it would work itself out before I had to tell you...and I guess I was just so ashamed. I still am.”
“I know my son, you didn't do anything. Y/N was my wild child, not you,” she said with a soft chuckle. “Mijo, when you have a problem, you come home. You don't run off and hide from your family, me entiendes?”
Rafael nodded once. “I was embarrassed. I’m usually so aware of people’s intentions or at least paranoid about their behavior when it raises red flags.” He chuckled to himself and shook his head. “There were so many with Abby, I just chose to ignore them.”
Lucia listened carefully. “You're not going to catch them all, mijo. But you can't take everything on alone. Soy tu mama, you can always come to me.”
“I know,” he mumbled, staring at the dark liquid in his mug, which was likely already cold by then. “I’m sorry.”
Lucia moved to him and kissed his cheek. “Esta bien.”
He let a moment of silence pass between them and pushed his coffee cup away. “So what’s been going on the last two weeks? Anything exciting?”
“Nada, things have been slow.”
He furrowed his brow. “What does that mean?”
“Quiet, nothing new. Is Roxie enjoying the second trimester? You know I had heartburn all through my pregnancy with you, mijo.”
“She’s doing great, no heartburn. A little bit of leg cramping and a sore back every once in a while,” he answered. “We’ve started talking about names.”
“Ah si? What names did you like?”
“We’ve thrown a few around, haven’t really settled on one just yet,” he replied. “We’re gonna have a list people can see at the reveal party.”
“Si, I got the invitation. No te preocupes, I’ll be there. Oye, I’d like to bring Gladys, is that alright?” she asked.
He smiled at her and nodded. “Yeah, of course that’s alright. We’d love to have her there.”
The waitress came over and Rafael ordered a fresh coffee after Lucia had ordered one for herself. A comfortable silence settled between them as they waited for their drinks. When they got their beverages, Lucia stirred some creamer into her coffee and added sugar.
“Have you talked to your sister?” she asked carefully.
“No,” he answered, taking a sip from his fresh cup. “And she hasn’t reached out either.”
“You two need to talk this out, Mijo.”
“She’s the one that doesn’t want to talk to me and beyond that, mami, I’m tired of her loyalty coming with conditions. I’m always the one trying to mend fences with her. So this time, she can reach out to me with the olive branch,” he answered.
“Mijo, I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt you. We've all said something we don't mean once in a while.”
“I’m not gonna talk about this,” he replied. “What happened to make her so angry was a mistake and she treated it like I purposely did something to hurt Lily. And then she betrayed my trust because she was angry. I can’t keep forgiving her for the same thing over and over and then pretend like it never happened.”
Lucia sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “Si, okay.”
“Mami where we go?” NJ asked as you buckled him into the car seat next to his sister the following day.
“We're going to the arcade, my love. You'll like it.” You nodded to Fiona who loved to help buckle the seatbelt. “We are going to have a great time at the arcade as soon as papi--oh there he is,” you smiled as Nevada stepped out onto the street from the apartment building with Lily who needed a last minute bathroom emergency.
Lily ran to the car, smiling. “Mami, can I have a hundred dollars?”
“What do I look like, an ATM?” you teased, ruffling your daughter’s hair as she climbed into the SUV. “Buckle up, okay?”
“Okay,” she replied. “Are we gonna go out to eat after?”
“Yeah, if you want,” you answered.
Nevada got into the driver’s seat and turned the ignition. “You don’t think the twins are too little for the arcade?”
“Probably, but they’ll get a kick out of the skeeball machines,” you replied, settling in the passenger’s seat.
Fiona pointed to Lily until the older girl buckled her seatbelt. Then she pointed to Nevada. “Papi, buckle,” she insisted.
You grinned as you buckled your own seatbelt. “My very own seatbelt police officer,” you said. “Alright, everyone ready?”
“No,” the twins echoed together. Nevada chuckled under his breath as he turned on the car and drove three blocks down, where he turned the corner and pulled up to the arcade.
“That was a short ride,” Lily observed. “Why didn’t we walk?”
“Cause your mother doesn’t like to sweat after she fixes her hair,” Nevada answered with a smirk. “She’s too pretty to sweat.” He got out of the SUV and opened Lily’s door, keeping his eye on the road to be sure there were no approaching cars. “Dale, get on the sidewalk.”
She hopped out, you and the twins all following suit. “Alright, now hold Lily's hand,” you instructed the twins.
As the five of you walked into the arcade, Nevada pulled out his phone to check his messages. Captain Asshole should have already served his warrant at the club and considering that none of their gun haul would be there, Nevada was anxious to know whether the new Captain would have a next move. More importantly, he wanted to know what that next move would be. Being on parole, the last this he needed was to get pinched on illegal gun possession.
“What do we do now?” Lily asked, eying all of the games, most of which were too tall for her to reach.
“Now we start off with skeeball. Think you and the twins can beat mami and papi?” you asked with a smirk.
The twins both looked at the machine.
“Mami what do?” NJ asked as he pointed to the machine.
You knelt down, putting coins into the machine as you heard the familiar clunk of the balls dropping into the dispenser. You grabbed one and rolled it up into the 100 points hold. “You roll it into the holes, papi,” you said and handed each of them a ball. Fiona rolled it up into the 10 point mark. Smiling at you for reassurance as you nodded. “Ay que bueno, mami!” You kissed her cheek.
NJ threw a ball overhand and hit the plastic cover, earning a laugh from Nevada as he stood to the side, before continuing to look through his phone.
“Me next,” Lily said, tossing a ball that didn’t quite make it all the way up to the slots, rolling back down towards her.
“You bad,” Fiona said, tossing another ball and also missing the marks.
“Well you suck,” Lily replied with a grin.
“Lily we don't say suck,” you said as you moved to put a quarter in your own machine. You tossed a ball, missing, purposely for the kid’s benefit.
“I do,” Lily giggled.
Fiona and NJ sat down with another ball and rolled it back and forth to each other instead of playing the machine while Lily continued to try and make points.
You smiled watching the twins before moving back to Nevada. “Wanna give it a go, papi?”
“Yeah, sure.”
Nevada sent another text to Chibby as he held his hand out for a ball. You put one in his hand and he stepped up to the machine, looking up from his phone long enough to see where the slots were before he turned his eyes back to his screen and tossed the ball. Despite his attention being elsewhere, he sank the ball into the 100 points slot as he stepped away again.
“This fucker’s not gonna stop,” he mused, shaking his head. “He’s gonna stay on our asses till he gets something to stick, I know it.”
“You sure you can’t pay him off?” you offered, genuinely trying to help.
“You don’t think I already tried? This fucker’s got something to prove,” he replied. “He’s one of the honest ones.”
“I wish I knew how to help,” you said sympathetically and rubbed his back. “What's the next step then? Have him removed?”
“What are you nuts? That’ll bring way too much heat,” Nevada replied. “We just gotta keep dodging him until he gets bored with us and hope he doesn’t get one of his buddies in City Hall to do him a favor and shut us down just for shits.”
You nodded. “Any luck finding the senator?”
“No, that’s another one that’s a pain in my ass,” he replied, sighing heavily.
You nodded, kissing his cheek. “It'll work out,” you said.
“Maybe,” he mumbled.
“Anything I can do?” you offered as you threw a skeeball up to the 100 mark before turning back to him with a smirk. This reminded you of your first date together.
“No, stay out of it. Both of us getting pinched won’t do these three any good,” he replied softly, shaking his head. “You’re not in my crew, just stay out it.”
You frowned. “I was just trying to help, I didn't mean with anything illegal,” you murmured before turning and moving back over to the kids.
“What exactly were you gonna do to help that’s not illegal? Tell me.”
“Nevada, I don't want to fight, I was trying to be supportive,” you replied.
“Do me a favor, be supportive some other way. You don’t wanna know all this shit that I do,” he said. “And I’m not trying to fight either, stop trying to make me look like I’m treating you shitty. I’m just talking to you.”
You just sighed, kneeling down to play with Lily.
“Unbelievable,” Nevada mumbled to himself as he called Chibby.
“This is Chibby.”
“Oye, tell me when the pigs are outta the barn, si? And do me a favor, get in touch with Reyes and see if he knows what this guy’s next move is,” Nevada said.
“Chibby is on it, young Jefe.”
Nevada hung up and looked down at the twins. “Oye, you guys want some candy?”
You picked up the twins, who were cheering for candy as Lily ran right to the concession stand on her own.
“We gotta tell these kids the story of La Llorona. They run off by themselves all the time. What the hell is wrong with them?” Nevada said before calling out to Lily. “Oye! Get back here! You don’t run away from mami and papi, me entiendes?”
Lily came back with a roll of her eyes. “Papi, you can see me.”
“It doesn’t matter. It only takes a second for something to happen. I don’t care that we can see you, you don’t step away from us. And roll your eyes at me again, mira ver,” he answered.
She nodded as she came back to where you guys were still standing. “Lo siento, papi.”
“Alright. Come on, let’s go get some candy,” he replied, putting a hand on her shoulder as the five of you walked to the cantine.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Battle with Sloth (OG 46-47)
Fullmetal Alchemist Episode 46: "Human Transmutation"
Tucker makes a deal with Alphonse, offering to show Alphonse how to use the philosopher’s stone in exchange for using the stone to resurrect his daughter Nina, while Lust offers to help Edward in exchange for making her human.
Tucker invokes equivalent exchange during his bargain.
We cut to Izumi and Ed discussing Dante. There is a flashback where Izumi argues with Dante about using alchemy for the good of others. Dante tells her to become a State Alchemist if she wants to help people so much… interesting. Izumi asks if she likes people at all, and Dante says she doesn't. She gives a speech that's actually pretty similar to some of the things Envy says in Brotherhood, that humans are violent and savage and will just abuse any power they're given. Izumi shoots back that she herself is human, and Dante doesn't answer. Hmm. I wonder how much is truth and how much is deception? Certainly it would make sense for Dante to want to hoard her power, but I wonder if she really believes what she says – is this how she justifies Amestris to herself, thinking that people would find a reason for war anyway, so they might as well do it for her? Is she projecting her own emptiness onto others? A lot to reflect on here.
Izumi discovered a love letter from Hohenheim to Dante. Good sleuthing! She notices that the date is written in the Christian calendar, and confirms that Christianity is out of practice now. She gives the date as 400 years ago.
Ed seems to come to the conclusion that Hohenheim is the leader of the homunculi. Ah, that's actually a reasonable deduction – he believes Dante was killed by a homunculus, and Izumi just told him there's bad blood between them. But ohoho, how ironic, especially considering Brotherhood.
Ed apologizes to Izumi. Because he's going to kill Wrath?
Mustang pulls strings to keep Fuery out of danger, which is good of him.
He then takes Fuery's glasses and puts them on Riza to assess how she looks, which is kinda creepy. I guess it's reasonable if they are in a relationship, but otherwise, enh.
Bradley promotes both Mustang and Armstrong, and says he hopes the rumors about Mustang are unfounded – that he's planning a coup? So I guess this is some "I know you know" posturing. He goes on to say Archer is still alive – ah, that was the guy missing half his head. I guess he got hit by the edge of the blast.
Bradley has a secret elevator to Dante's mansion underneath Central, which… appears to be part of a city? I think we learn more about that later. Dante confirms that she plans to frag everyone connected to Hughes in the battle.
Envy uses boku? I'm surprised this is the first time I've picked up on that. I guess he does like appearing cute. I suppose it adds a layer of creepy/cute dissonance we English-speakers tragically missed out on.
Envy was supposed to stay in the north, but came to Central because he heard Hohenheim was there. He calls Bradley a "human poseur", and Dante confirms Bradley is a homunculus who can age, "one of [her] masterpieces". I love that that's why he's Pride, by the way – that's utterly brilliant. Dante works very hard on her horrific monstrosities, thank you very much!
Here we get confirmation that Hohenheim was Envy's birth father, and the one who made him. That's a little surprising, I thought that was saved for the very end. I actually do think accompanying that reveal with… everything else that happens in that episode would have greater impact, but I guess some buildup works too.
Bradley asks if Envy misses him, and Envy sends him flying. He then tries to pummel him, but Bradley easily dodges – another nice touch.
Ah, Envy uses ore now. So I guess he switches depending on his mood.
Envy throws a tantrum because he wanted to kill Hohenheim, smashing the floor with his punches. Hm, so he does still have super strength in OG, even though there's less justification for it. I guess we can chalk this up to the homunculi being magic in general.
Dante goads him, and Envy decides he's going to take the Philosopher's Stone from the Elrics before they can use it to restore themselves.
Sloth/Lust/Wrath have broken into the Elrics' room and found a note saying Al is going to meet with Tucker. Wrath is bouncing on the bed, which is cute.
Lust realizes that if Tucker is teaching them to use the Stone, they could use it to humanize the homunculi, too.
Ed returns and gets a faceful of homunculi. He immediately goes for the locket, and makes Lust grab it by accident. Clever!
But then Wrath appears. He absorbs Ed's automail arm. Ed taunts him, saying he'll never be human even if he takes his whole body – even Al, with nothing but a soul, is still more human than him.
Lust turns on Wrath. The automail he absorbed can deflect her spear, which doesn't seem right. Wrath tricks her into impaling the locket, which paralyzes her. Clever!
Wrath breaks off one of her fingers and absorbs it. Yikes!
Ed frees Lust, and now she can impale Wrath through the armor for some reason.
Ed asks why the homunculi want to become human when they're already immortal. Lust says she could say the same thing about Al.
Ed demands to know who the homunculi's master is. Lust says she'll tell him when she becomes human. LOL.
Tucker appears to have succeeded in his human transmutation, but he didn't attach a soul, so that's reasonable. So the Philosopher’s Stone is just to create a proper body. Sloth appears and he freaks out.
Al discovers that a part of his armor has disappeared. Seems like an awful lot just to stitch a body together, considering how much power he's supposed to have.
Fullmetal Alchemist Episode 47: "Sealing the Homunculus"
As Edward, Lust, Wrath, and Sloth all arrive at the factory where Alphonse went to meet Tucker, a climactic battle ensues, as Edward and Alphonse must finally confront their creation.
Time to see how OG handles a boss fight!
Sloth starts acting motherly towards Al. Al appears to buy it, but he's had a hard day, I'll cut him some slack.
As Wrath revives, he appears to dream of outrunning the Gate. I wonder if the Gate tries to pull them in when they die, or maybe just Wrath? It’s a cool depiction, regardless. Rather than just burning power to regenerate, it looks like they’re using the souls in the red stones to actually escape the Gate -- they’re lives, not HP.
Izumi and Sloth blend together in his memories.
Tucker tries to use Al again and Sloth drowns him. The soulless Nina watches impassively.
Ed makes a new arm out of spare metal. He still appears able to move it like normal, so he must have extended the nerve wires somehow. I find that pretty dubious when in the movie he says he doesn’t know how automail works. I guess the writers wanted the drama of him losing his arm but didn’t want the hassle of returning to Winry every time. It keep the plot moving, so it’s allowable, but it still seems a little contrived.
Oh, looks like she didn't kill Tucker. He shows up to creep on Al some more. Ed sees the hole in the armor. Al says it's equivalent exchange.
Ed turns his arm into a gun… I guess he could be extending the metal very thin. He shoots at Sloth, which obviously does nothing. Tucker is somehow able to dodge despite standing right behind her.
Ed jams the box of remains into Sloth, and she melts.
Al yells at Ed for digging up Trisha's grave without telling him. Ed says he's the only one who needed to go through that. What was he expecting, though? He'd have to tell Al eventually.
Lust reflects on her memories. She points out there's no logical reason homunculi should have them. She thinks it might be the memories of the alchemist that are imbued.
Al throws away Trisha's remains because he's stupid. He thinks that since they made her, it's wrong for them to kill her; Ed insists the reverse.
Wrath absorbs the remains into himself.
Wrath sees Lust attacking Sloth. There's a bit too long of a pause as Ed explains what's going on to Al before Wrath attacks. Wrath absorbs the guns in the warehouse to create a massive gun-arm.
Sloth enters Al's armor and starts pupetting him.
I was about to complain that Wrath couldn't hit anything, but Lust actually does eject a ton of bullets. I feel like we still didn't see any of them connect, though.
Wrath brags that he can't die, but Lust says he actually only has as many lives as he has red stones, so she can still brute-force him. Ah, so that does hold true for this continuity too. I guess the idea is that most of them just have an effectively inexhaustible number of lives.
Lust starts using the same wide swipes I complained about in BH 19, but she actually does seem to be extending them. Wrath is only dodging because he's very agile, as previously established.
Wrath comes across the locket, previously discarded, and tricks Lust onto her own transmutation circle. Is it reasonable she'd forget about that? We don't see the circle because of camera angles, but surely she would have? I would think a homunculi would want to steer clear of a sealing circle even if they're sure they're safe.
In an adjacent warehouse, Sloth uses Al to attack Ed. Since contact causes an unstable reaction, Ed has to stay clear. He draws a transmutation circle using tables in the warehouse and uses it to freeze Sloth.
Meanwhile, Lust vomits up her stones. Wrath sneers that she must have wanted to die if she wanted to become human, and Lust wonders if that's true. Wrath kills her, but wonders if that's true for him too.
We get a flashback to the transmutation from Sloth's perspective. Dante arrived apparently the same night to feed her stones. (The question of how she knew to be there is sort of answered by her saying they're Hohenheim's sons so she knew they'd try it.) Dante confirms that all the homunculi were messes to begin with, and only gain complete forms after eating the red stones. Sloth is confused by Trisha's memories, and Dante says she will understand once she becomes human.
Back in the present, Sloth manages to melt herself by… shivering?
Sloth says that she wants to kill Ed so she can be free of her memories. By killing him, she'll prove she's not the person she remembers.
Ed stabs Sloth, and she suddenly explodes. Ed says he transmuted his automail into sodium. Clever!
Wrath fuses himself with Sloth, which paralyzes her because of the remains. Not so clever, Wrath!
Apparently you can't normally transmute a whole body; even Kimblee only transmutes part of the body. The reason Ed was able to break Greed's shield is because homunculi aren't human, and can be wholly transmuted. Ah, that also explains why people can't do what Wrath does. Ed uses this principle to transmute all of Sloth into ethanol, causing her to evaporate. Oh, and it looks like he actually grabs some elements from the ground first, which explains where he's getting the carbon from. Since the inability to turn water into wine was a plot point earlier, it's good that they actually accounted for that.
And… Winry is watching them? We end quite suddenly.
Conclusion
What a fantastic set of episodes! This had wonderful buildup, and the tactics used in the battle were so clever! You can see that the directors went through a lot of trouble to establish where everything was to make the alchemy plausible. Probably why they chose to set it in a warehouse, haha. And the battle is matched in violence by emotion – the brothers finally face head-on their sin and how they feel about it, and we get even more philosophizing from the homunculi's side. As I said last time, the nature of humanity and personhood are crucial themes to OG, and we see that in full display here. I love how we see Lust's humanity contrasted with her still vicious behavior towards Sloth and Wrath, Wrath's mommy issues, Sloth's anti-mommy issues… It's such a rich picture.
My only real criticism, I think, is that I wish there was more of it! Oddly for OG, I think this felt a little rushed, mainly because Ed and Al have avoided the subject for so long. There wasn't really enough time to have both a satisfying battle and to fully address all these issues. I'd have liked to see Ed and Al discuss this a little more beforehand, maybe get a bit more of Sloth too. That might have alleviated some of Al's idiot ball, too – the only excuse I can come up with is that he must still be mentally 11, but you can only lean on that so far.
That, and, I don't know why they're so cordial to Tucker when Ed was totally willing to punch his face in the first time. I'd have liked to see them still angry about Nina, given how that was such a crucial part of their lives; right now, it feels like they've forgotten about her.
Let's update our homunculi list:
Greed is wasted.
Lust defects, and is killed out of vengeance for a loved one.
Sloth is paralyzed.
These two are more poetic than ironic, but I still think they're a lot better executed than Brotherhood's poetic fates. I love that Lust is actually lust – she desires humanity, life, connection, everything that the too-human Dante spurns. So of course she defects. Greed talked a big game about rebelling because he wanted more, but I think Lust has the better, and more meaningful, claim there.
I will admit that Brotherhood!Sloth's fate is probably the most clever of those fates; killing Sloth by outlasting him sort of represents overcoming your own sloth. But agonizingly long battles are not OG's style and, in my opinion, not terribly good storytelling in general, so I find this a much more efficient way of fitting the theme. I do think it's ironic in a more general sense, in that her power is evasiveness: of course she's killed when she's pinned down. Perhaps we could also say that she's sort of killed by anti-sloth, in that she would have survived if Wrath hadn't tried to help, but that's a bit of a reach.
I have to say I'm also finding it interesting how there are strange echoes of Brotherhood in how this plays out. Greed is destroyed by the main villain, the fight moves to Briggs, Ed mistakes Hohenheim for the villain, Sloth is sent to assassinate the heroes and is assassinated herself, Lust brings up the possibility of brute-forcing a homunculi to death… It makes me wonder if these are coincidences, or if they did get a more comprehensive outline than I thought. Or cause and effect could be reversed -- Arakawa may have included those elements later as an homage to the anime.

Timestamp #221: The Impossible Astronaut & Day of the Moon
Doctor Who: The Impossible Astronaut Doctor Who: Day of the Moon (2 episodes, s06e01-02, 2011)
Welcome to the Silence.
Prequel
In the White House, President Nixon answers the telephone in the Oval Office. The line only clicks until he asks, “Is it you again?” A child’s voice tells him to look behind him for a threat that is everywhere but no one can see. When asked, the child says that the spaceman told her about them. President Nixon refuses to believe them.
He hangs up the phone and leans back. A mysterious alien stares at him, but neither the President nor his aide seem to notice.
The Impossible Astronaut
In the 17th century, Charles II storms into the painter Matilda’s room and demands to see the Doctor. Standing before a painting of the Time Lord, who is depicted wearing nothing but a strategically placed red cloth, Matilda replies, “Doctor who?”
She nearly gets away with it except for a sneeze from her skirts. The Doctor is naked, hiding under Matilda, with the explanation that the situation is really not as bad as it looks.
In 2011, Amy tells Rory about the incident as detailed in a history book. It, along with other incidents such as a World War II POW camp and a Laurel and Hardy film, seem to be signals to the Ponds. A TARDIS-blue envelope containing unsigned invitation arrives in the mail and they follow it to Utah.
They are greeted by the Doctor, wearing a Stetson that is soon shot off by River Song (who also got an invitation). They convene in a roadside diner and catch up. The Doctor tells them that he’s been running faster than ever before, but that it’s time to stop. They’re going to have a picnic and then he’s headed to space in 1969.
On the shores of Lake Silencio, the team shares wine, cheese, and fruit. Rory spots one of the creatures from the White House but after she looks away, she forgets about it. The discussion is interrupted by an old man arriving in a truck and waving to the Doctor. The Doctor looks to the lake and spots an astronaut in a full Apollo spacesuit. He tells his companions that, whatever happens, they are not to interfere, then walks to meet the astronaut.
He seems to know what is coming, but his companions are shocked when the astronaut shoots him with an energy weapon. The Doctor begins to regenerate, but the astronaut takes aim and fires again. The mysterious visitor retreats into the lake as the companions mourn the Doctor’s death. The old man brings a gas can, confirming the Time Lord’s identity and death, and River knows that they have to cremate the body.
After the service, the man introduces himself as Canton Everett Delaware III. He received an envelope as well, and he tells the assembled that he won’t see them again but that they will see him. Delaware leaves and the companions return to the diner. River notes that the envelopes are numbered so this was all planned in advance. The Doctor arrives shortly afterward, having held the first envelope, and it is determined that he is an earlier version of himself. He was invited the same as the others.
They all take a trip in the TARDIS to 1969. The team is upset with the Doctor and the companions try to reason through the puzzle, but they have no idea why the future Doctor recruited them all. They also cannot ask the Doctor himself, who nearly turns the TARDIS around when they won’t tell him the truth. After all, River is a convicted murderer and the Doctor does not trust mysterious summonses. Amy asks him to trust the team, swearing that she’s not lying about being under duress. The Doctor places his life in her hands.
Delaware is a former FBI agent who is summoned to the White House by President Nixon. The two men are in a meeting about the mysterious phone calls when the TARDIS materializes in stealth mode. The Doctor pops out of the phone box just in time to hear the recording and is spotted by the men. The President calls the Secret Service as the Doctor demands that River make the TARDIS visible.
In short order, the travelers are held at gunpoint but the Doctor persuades Delaware and Nixon to give him five minutes. As the Doctor helps the Americans to track the call to Florida – home of NASA and the spacemen – Amy spots the alien again. When she looks away, she forgets. She visits the restroom and spots the alien again. While she keeps an eye on it, another woman emerges from a toilet cubicle and is eventually killed after spotting it. Amy snaps a picture of the alien and rushes out to her Secret Service companion, promptly forgetting the encounter.
The phone rings again. On the other end, the child says that the spaceman is there and that she needs help. The travelers jet off in the TARDIS – Delaware tags along by accident – and find the call’s origin at the intersections of Jefferson, Adams, and Hamilton Streets, clues provided by the child.
The travelers find stolen NASA technology and alien residue leading into a tunnel network. River investigates and finds a group of the aliens. She rushes out, forgets the encounter, and decides to take another look. The Doctor asks Rory to follow her. As they investigate, they find a maintenance hatch that River picks open while they discuss her relationship with the Doctor. The two are a traveling different directions in time: Her past is his future.
They open the hatch and find a control room similar to the one hidden away in the house with Craig Owens. It sounds an alarm and Rory spots the creatures but forgets them. River learns that there are tunnels like the one they’re in all over Earth and that they’ve been here for thousands of years. Behind Rory, electricity crackles and something approaches.
Amy, Delaware, and Amy hear the child cry for help and they pursue. Amy reveals that she’s pregnant, Delaware is knocked unconscious, and the astronaut approaches them. Amy draws Delaware’s gun and shoots the astronaut, intent on saving the Doctor’s life, only realizing too late that the suit contains the young girl from the telephone.
Day of the Moon
Three months later, Amy is being chased through the Utah desert. Her pursuers, including Delaware, corner her on a cliff. Amy tries to help him remember their escape from the aliens in the warehouse, but he shoots her. She has a series of hashmarks on her arms.
Delaware travels to Area 51 to ask the Doctor, now his prisoner, about the marks. Meanwhile, River is in New York City with a similar set marks. When she spots one of the aliens, she adds a mark to her arm. Delaware arrives shortly thereafter and corners her, but she dives off the building.
Rory is also cornered and shot at the Glen Canyon Dam, and he and Amy are taken to Area 51 in body bags and placed with the Doctor in a cell constructed of dwarf star alloy. The room is impervious to signals and, once sealed, provides the perfect opportunity for Amy, Rory, and the Doctor to stage their escape. To seal the deal, the TARDIS is parked directly behind the Doctor in stealth mode. The travelers and Delaware board the TARDIS, catch River in mid-air, and materialize at Cape Kennedy and the site of Apollo 11’s historic launch.
The Doctor injects everyone with nano-recorders while they discuss the last three months. The marks were from each time one of the creatures were spotted, and it should be easier to find them with the recording devices. They test it with a holographic image extrapolated from Amy’s photograph, and also discover that even the image of the creatures induces the memory loss.
Later, Delaware and Amy arrive at Graystark Hall. They meet Dr. Renfrew and learn that the facility will close in 1967. Oddly, it is now 1969. The walls are also covered in messages to get out, but Renfrew has no idea how they keep appearing. Amy investigates the facility while Delaware meets with Renfrew. She discovers a message she left on her nano-recorder demanding that she get out. She sees her reflection, noting that her arms and face are covered in hashmarks. She looks up to see a bunch of the creatures hanging like bats, but moments later she’s leaving the room without any recollection.
The Doctor installs some type of transmitter in the Apollo spacecraft. He’s taken into custody but soon released under orders from Nixon in a rather humorous exchange. The Doctor asks Nixon to record everything that happens in the Oval Office.
Amy continues on, soon spotting a door with a sliding observation port. A woman with an eyepatch spots her through the slot, but the room beyond is a child’s bedroom. The woman is nowhere to be found. Amy finds photos of herself holding a newborn, then is met by the child in the spacesuit and two of the creatures.
Delaware and Renfrew are interrupted by one of the creatures. Delaware records a brief exchange with it then shoots the creature before running toward the sound of Amy’s screams. Rory, River, and the Doctor join him to find an empty spacesuit and Amy’s recorder. It’s a live transmission from wherever Amy is being held.
Renfrew summons the group to his office to tend to the wounded creature. It identifies itself as the Silence, which the Doctor recalls from the events of last year. They have been on the planet since the Stone Age. The travelers return to the warehouse while Delaware emerges from the dwarf star box after several days with President Nixon. The spacesuit is a perfect life support capsule, which explains how the child survived a gunshot. The Doctor also speculates that Apollo 11 traveled to the Moon because the Silence needed a spacesuit. After all, they don’t make their own technology.
Delaware tends to the wounded Silence in the dwarf star box and uses Amy’s phone to record a threatening message from the being. He transmits it to the Doctor. Meanwhile, the Doctor traces the nano-recorder signal to the console room in the tunnel system. Inside that room, Amy awakens to a room full of Silence, and the TARDIS arrives soon after. The Doctor recognizes the room as he brings a television in and orders River to keep the Silence covered while Rory frees Amy.
Here’s the twist: The Doctor has rigged Neil Armstrong’s spacesuit to transmit a message as soon as he touches the lunar surface. It is the threat from the wounded Silence, telling everyone in the sound of its voice to kill the Silence on site.
The whole planet is watching. The whole planet responds. Today is the day that the human race throws the Silence off the planet.
The Silence respond by attacking the travelers. Everyone runs for the TARDIS as River covers their escape, successfully killing every one of the creatures. The TARDIS takes off as Amy and Rory share an intimate moment, landing in the Oval Office so the Doctor can say farewell to Nixon and Delaware.
The Doctor evades Nixon’s queries about his future with the promise that the president will never be forgotten. After the Doctor leaves, Nixon almost grants Delaware’s request to be married… until he figures out that Delaware is homosexual.
The Doctor leaves River at Stormcage. He offers to take her along, but she declines. They share a passionate kiss, which ends up being the first for the Doctor… which makes it the last for her. As the TARDIS takes flight again, the Doctor asks about Amy’s pregnancy, which is news to Rory.
Amy assures her husband that she’s not pregnant. The Doctor runs a scan on Amy without her knowledge, but is concerned since the Amy is simultaneously pregnant and not pregnant.
Six months later, a homeless man on the streets of New York City finds the child from the spacesuit. The child coughs repeatedly, claiming that she’s dying. She soon solves that problem, however, as she begins to regenerate.
This story’s power comes from its frantic and almost disordered plot. It has the potential to confuse the viewer because it requires nearly complete concentration to keep track of the various narrative threads. That frenetic pace ties in beautifully with the nature of the Silence, from missing large pieces of the plot to having them filled in only when it was necessary.
Another potential pitfall is the Steven Moffat habit of being super clever for the sake of being so. This story could have easily done that, but the rewards were substantial enough to make it feel like a significant return on investment. We have a few threads laid down for the season, including eyepatch lady, the yes/no pregnancy, and the regenerating child.
(Of course, having seen all of this before, I know what’s coming. I’ll take a River Song approach and avoid spoilers for anyone reading this who hasn’t seen it.)
And, you know, the parallels with 1988’s They Live just make me smile. I do love that film.
I still have reservations about Amy and her treatment of Rory. She’s open with the Doctor about her pregnancy, but she’s willing to hide it from Rory while still claiming to love him. Her actions speak more of abuse than love. On the other hand, we see the tragedy of the Doctor/River relationship. They work so well together, but the crossing paths nature is heartbreaking at times.
The stories take time out to pay tribute to Elisabeth Sladen. She died four days before the initial broadcast of the first part of this story, and I’d expect nothing less from Doctor Who for one the most popular companions ever.
I loved the symmetry in casting the Delawares. William Morgan Sheppard, the older Delaware, is the real-life father of Mark Sheppard, the younger Delaware. This isn’t the first time that they’ve played older and younger versions of a character, and they have also portrayed father and son pairs. I love seeing both of them on screen from their copious amount of work in film and television.
I also loved seeing the Valley of the Gods and Lake Powell (“Lake Silencio”) on screen again. I grew up in Utah, so the landscape is easily recognizable. The Southern Utah deserts have been popular filming locations for decades. In terms of internal mythology, we last visited Utah in Dalek, though we didn’t see anything of the world outside at that point.
One thing that really intrigues me is the idea that multiple Doctors are in the same location at the same time. The Eleventh Doctor’s three-month-long incarceration at Area 51 coincides with the Tenth Doctor being stranded in Blink and the Second and Third Doctor’s adventures with UNIT (for reference, The Invasion, Spearhead from Space, Doctor Who and the Silurians, and The Ambassadors of Death). Neil Armstrong’s historic moonwalk also coincides with Blink and The Ambassadors of Death. It adds credence to the idea that we saw in Rose that the Doctor can be in so many places and times at once.
Last but not least, I laughed about River chastising the Doctor about using his sonic screwdriver in battle. The callback to The Doctor Dances was great, as was hanging a lampshade on the tendency to use the sonic as a magic wand instead of a scientific instrument.
Rating: 4/5 – “Would you care for a jelly baby?”

The Walking Dead Season 10 Ending Explained: What Happened in “Here’s Negan”
https://ift.tt/3fHuQw0
This Walking Dead feature contains spoilers.
With Maggie back, there’s no doubt that Negan’s time in Alexandria is going to get harder. After all, she is there with little Hershel, and every day she has to walk by the man who killed her husband. When you add in the fact that Negan was there as Alpha’s second in commend when she burned Hilltop to the ground, it’s clear that there’s no road to forgiveness in Maggie’s eyes.
Carol wisely steps in and attempts to defuse the situation by moving Negan and all of his stuff to a cabin nearby. Out of sight, out of mind. The only downside is being on his own gives Negan plenty of time to think. Negan looks back at the road that led him here. What turned him from a high school gym teacher into the leader of the Saviors? What terrible things did he do in an attempt to make sense of a senseless world?
The back half of season 10 went out of its way to avoid pushing the plot forward very far. “A Certain Doom” remains the season finale in truth, if not on paper, but the extra episodes have served as admirable attempts to push forward individual character arcs. Some have worked better than others, but none have worked quite as well as “Here’s Negan” did.
Here’s what the final episode of The Walking Dead season 10 revealed about Negan and where it leaves him going into season 11:
Finding Lucille the Bat
Exiled from Alexandria and stuck in Leah’s old cabin, Negan sits by the fire and confronts the worst possible version of himself. Negan, broken and attempting to rebuild himself, meets Negan at the top of his game. The leather clad, bat-swinging, shit-talking boss of the Saviors plops down in the chair and immediately starts dressing himself down. Negan as he is comes face to face with the Negan that the people of Alexandria cannot forget, no matter how many good deeds he’s done since the end of his war with Rick. Negan confronts this “cult of personality,” rejects the idea that he’s nothing without his past self, but he also comes to understand that he can’t just bury his past. Negan digs deep in this episode to figure out where he went wrong and why he’s ended up alone.
In fact, he does some literal digging. Negan goes back to the scene of his greatest failure and reunites with an old friend. Throughout his imprisonment, Negan wanted nothing more than to get Lucille back, to know she was safe and sound and somewhere in Alexandria. But she wasn’t. We learn in this episode that his bat was abandoned under the tree where he had his final battle with Rick Grimes.
After digging countless holes, Negan finally discovers Lucille’s resting place. Fingers around a maple handle. A big crinkly-eyed smile. Heroic lighting. And then the first flashback of the episode.
Saving the Real Lucille
A bag removed from a head. Negan tied to a chair, bloody, with two bikers giving him a once-over. He’s got medical supplies, and they want to know where he got them. Negan begs to be let go; his cooler is full of chemotherapy drugs for his wife, who is sick with cancer. He’s already led them on one wild goose chase, and if he does it again, all those rare drugs go down the toilet while Negan watches. With pain in his eyes, he relents.
Negan knows of a medical caravan with access to a warehouse full of life-saving drugs and supplies. He tells the bikers where they can find the doctors before they pack up and move to the next stop on their route. He knows these guys don’t have good intentions, and probably won’t keep their word, but he’s desperate. He’s desperate to get back to his wife before she succumbs to her cancer. He’s a man with everything to lose.
While the flashback is really meant to explore Negan’s relationship with his wife before he turned bad, it also reveals how he met Lucille the Bat. We learn that both Lucille’s are tied together by one specific event. Two or three days before being captured by the bikers, Negan, hungry, desperate, and exhausted, tries and fails to rob a doctor named Franklin and his daughter (who we learn is Laura, Negan’s future Savior lieutenant) with an unloaded gun. For his troubles, he gets a kiss from Lucille the Bat, and wakes up hours later being attended to by the very same doctor he tried to rob. They give him the chemo drugs he needs, and Negan is surprised that they expect nothing in return. They just want to help people, and what goes around comes around. It’s a philosophy that will eventually get you killed in the post-apocalypse.
Negan, of course, doesn’t make it home with his chemo drugs intact. After giving up the medical caravan’s location, the bikers head out to capture the doctor while Negan is locked in a storage room, agonizing over the drugs he needs to get to Lucille.
This time the information is good. The bikers get the doctor and Negan is let go with his chemotherapy drugs intact. No mention is made of what the bikers plan on doing to the Franklin and Laura, but the screaming of a girl suggests nothing good. Negan ignores that and rushes back to try to save his wife’s life.
Negan’s Change of Heart
It’s clear Negan loves his wife and will do anything for her, but their marriage wasn’t an easy one, especially before outbreak.
Negan, seven months prior to the end of the world, was nothing but a selfish jerk. He bought a $600 leather jacket. He was fired from his job as a high school gym teacher because he beat up a guy in a bar fight. He yelled at kids while playing video games.
Worst of all, he had an affair with one of his wife’s friends, even going so far as to leave her waiting in the doctor’s office parking lot the day she was diagnosed with cancer while he was off with Janine. She’s smart enough to figure it out, eventually, but she doesn’t tell him she knows about the affair. When she gets home, she just tells him that she has cancer. That’s a turning point for Negan, the moment he becomes the husband willing to do whatever it takes to save his wife’s life.

The Walking Dead Comic: Negan Ending Revealed in Final Issue
By John Saavedra
Months later, they are locked away in their boarded-up house, a generator running whenever it won’t draw walkers, and all the while Negan is catering to Lucille. He reads to her, they watch James Bond movies on DVD, he makes romantic dinners with dog food as the main course, and he makes sure she sticks to her scheduled chemotherapy regimen, no matter what he has to do to make sure it happens.
It’s a side of Negan the show has never really showed before. We knew his bat was named for his wife. We knew she died of cancer. But what hadn’t been established before now is just how hard he worked to keep her alive while she suffered through nausea and chills, losing her vitality and her hair in the process.
Just before Negan leaves to go find Lucille’s drugs, she tells him that she knew about Negan’s affair, but that he’s made up for all of his mistakes. It’s a beautiful scene between Hilarie Burton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Lucille Dies, Negan Lives
By the time, Negan returns with the drugs, it’s too late. Lucille is dead and come back as a walker. It’s a moment that would break anyone, and it certainly changes Negan. With his wife gone and his home burning down in the background, Negan grabs the two things which are now most important to him. The leather jacket that was his wife’s final gift to him and the bat that will carry her name forward. Using barbed wire from the fence around their house, Lucille the Bat is born, and she’s thirsty for revenge. Negan backtracks to where the bikers have Franklin and Laura imprisoned, and while he has never killed any people (and was even hesitant about killing the dead), he has a natural talent for it.
Negan gets his revenge on the bikers who captured him and, for what might be the last time, does the right thing and frees Franklin. However, with the bat and with his leather on, it is clear that the Negan who cared for his doting wife is fading away, and he’s transforming into the loquacious murderer Negan. As he says to the lead biker tied to the chair, “This time you best hope I never stop talking because when I do, something very terrible is going to happen to you.”
Negan has cast off the old world, and with the Viking funeral he holds for his wife, he is getting rid of that last little bit of the old world that he carried around with him. It’s a new day, and he is a new guy. Seeing red is not a bad thing anymore, and neither is killing in the right situation and for the right reason.
The Death of Lucille the Bat
The real Lucille was sent off in a fire after overdosing. She was trying to free Negan of his responsibility to her and to give him the freedom to move on. Sadly, it took a while for him to get around to doing that. His last link to the old world died when she died.
His last link to Negan of the Saviors dies when Lucille the Bat breaks against the skull of a zombie. Negan might still be seen as the villain who killed Glenn and so many others all those years ago, but he’s not that guy anymore. As the remains of one Lucille hit the flames to join the remains of another Lucille, Negan shakes off the ghost of a different person, and a different life, to rejoin the community he has put himself at risk for. Maybe Maggie will kill him for it. Maybe that’s what he is counting on.
Either way, the Negan walking up to Carol and company is not the same man Carol left at the cabin. No more bat. No more swagger. No more shame. No more asking for forgiveness. No more expecting forgiveness for his past actions. New outlook, new Negan.

For the first time in forever, and perhaps the first time ever, Negan is at peace. He cannot change the past, no matter what good deeds he might do to try to re-balance the scales in his favor. Maybe he will never get a clean slate, but he can do good for the sake of doing good and hope that what goes around actually does come around in the end.

A/N 1: it took long and its long. it took a little longer because of work and anything but everything is alright now. I hope you like it.
A/N 2: Hi guys ! Sorry for the delay ! We’ve been busy with life in general. I hope you enjoy it ! Enjoy !
------
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2 weeks later
Y/N POV
You can’t take in anymore, you’ve been bedridden for 2 weeks, your father won’t even let you take a glass of water without an assistance ! It’s driving you mad ! You need to go out, to hunt ! So behind everyone’s back you decides to look for a hunt, luckily there was one not too far from home so you could make the way back early in the morning if you left once everyone was asleep.
A Djinn have been abducting young girls in Lincoln, NE, a 2:45 drive. There has been 5 victims, one of them was found dead in the Cripple creek Park. You found that all the girls lived in the same neighborhood and after some research and the underground map of the city you found out that the sewer system under the victim's house all leaded to an old abandoned underground metro station.
So once everyone was asleep you started packing, finding a silver knife and lamb blood you took them and put it in your duffel bag and took off taking one of the car Dean had restored.
However what you didn’t know is that Katie heard you taking off.
KATIE POV
The sound of a car purring woke me up, since I made the deal I had trouble sleeping. I went to the garage and saw that one car wa missing so I checked every room until I saw Y/N room empty, however her computer was still open so I looked at it and saw that Y/N had found a hunt in Lincoln, NE. What was she thinking !? She was still healing !
Against my best judgement I decided not to warn dad and uncle Sam, I would find her and take her home ! With that in mind I went to to pack and grab my car keys.
On the way to Lincoln I felt bad. I knew this would happen. She hates to be on the sideline, doing nothing. Sam didn't let her do anything, like getting a glass of water, this was bound to happen !
I found out that she was staying in White House motel. I parked at the motel and found her car not so far on the parking lot. I didn’t want to overwhelm her so I stayed in the car waiting for her to come into action.
The next day I was still waiting for Y/N to come out of her room. It took awhile until she finally came out. She got in the car and drove away. I didn’t want to lose her so I followed her but not close enough to draw suspicion. She drove to the police station. I knew that she would do that because that is the first thing a hunter would do. Getting information. I didn’t want her to see me so I parked my car as away as possible but still in the eyeline to see her.
An hour later she came out of the police station and drove away. I followed her back to the motel. She got out the car and got in her room. I didn’t want to let her know I was there but she needs my help. I got out of my car and calmly walked to her room. I knocked a few times. She opened the door and she was shocked. She slammed the door shut. “Y/N, please let me help you ! I know that you want to hunt and I get it ! Please let me help you !” I shouted through the door. “No ! I know what
will happen. You’re going to get me back to the bunker and lock me up in my room !” She yelled back. “Let me in so we can talk about it !” She slowly opened the door and let me in.
We were sitting at the table looking at each other but not saying a word until Y/N broke the silence. “Why ?” She just asked that. I looked at her with a confused face. “What do you mean ‘why’ ?” I asked. “Why do you want help me ? Just like my dad, you wanted me stay in bed.” I sighed. “I still want that because you're not completely healed. But I knew that this would happen so I followed you. I’m your family I want help you. So what did you  got ?” I say. She look at her hands until she grabbed the journal and her tablet. I looked a little in shock as she took the journal of my dad. “How did you get that ?” I asked. “I took it, duh. This journal has really useful information.” I was a little mad about the fact that she took it with her but I knew it was not the best time.
After some talking and planning, we had everything that we needed and we packed our stuff and headed out to the abandoned underground metro station. We parked not far from the station, grabbed our stuff and headed inside. It’s was wet everywhere and very cross. We got deeper in the station. Our guns already drawn. Scanning every room to look for some of the victims but we didn't found them yet. I felt a presence above me so I looked up and saw the Djinn coming at me, just before everything went black.
Y/N POV
As you saw the Djinn attack Katie, you got pushed against the wall at the same time and everything went black before your eyes.
----------
You slightly opened your eyes, your head was pounding, you wanted to use your arm to rub your head but you couldn't. You looked over to your hand and saw that you were tied up, again. You looked around and saw Katie hanging with an infuse in her neck. “Katie !” you yelled, but then you heard footsteps approaching you.
You couldn't do anything, you’re wounds are still healing, and you are not strong enough. “Why did I do this ? Why do I need to get my family in danger again ? First the alpha and now this, if I wasn’t stupid enough I would be able to get out of this chair and kick their asses, but I can't. I failed my family once again…” you thought. The footsteps were getting closer until you felt a hand on your shoulder. “So, what are we going to do with her ?” a deep voice asked. a woman came out off the light to stand in front of you. “I don't know ? “ she said. “What do you want from me !? Leave her alone and take me !” she shook her head her face getting closer to you and whispered to your ear “No, because you’re little cousin here, have a secret and people with secrets are the best.” she said chuckling viciously. The two persons walked away and left you alone watching your cousin in pain.
“What were they talking about ? Is Katie keeping something from us ?” you asked yourself. You shook your head and tried to came in action, trying to get your pocket knife but the ties were too tight. You looked over to Katie, she was just hanging there in pain until she was moving. “Katie !” you tried to wake her up but it didn't work.
KATIE POV
I looked around the place, it was an old warehouse, it was really cold and I felt my lips were going to crack from the cold. I looked in every room of the building until I found my dad, Sam and Y/N, tied up against the wall. My gun still drawn I rushed to them, once by my dad I tried everything to get the handcuffs off but there was no way to get them off. I didn't felt safe here with my family, it felt like someone was watching me, then I knew it someone was with us.
I felt an arm going around my throat and pulled me on the ground, punches came on my face and my body. I fought back, but it didn't help. That thing didn't get hurt or got marks from my blade. I looked in the corner of my eye and saw my family staring at me and saw my failing. I need to save them. I pushed against the thing that was punching me. I pushed it of me. I got back on my feet and backed up. The thing and came in the light.
Its was  me with black eyes. I couldn't believe it. I was in shock as i watched myself with black eyes approaching my family. “Did you know that thanks to you, your family is in danger.” She said. “Get away from them !” I yelled at myself. The evil version of me came close by me real quick. “You still don't get it. Do you ? Look at me! This is what you become ! Thanks to you she can live and you die !” I couldn't believe it. I backed up. I looked over to Y/N and saw tears streaming down her face. I looked back to myself but i disappeared. I saw Y/N crying. I walked up to her. “I'm sorry, i wanted to keep it a secret so you don't have to worry about me. “ I had tears in my eyes. “ Go away ! “ I hear her yelling “ Go away you demon !” She said. I walked away with tears in my eyes. I fell on my knees and cried. ‘I failed my family. ‘ I cried in my hands.
Y/N POV
You just looked over to Katie waiting until she opens her eyes. Then you saw tears streaming down her face, she had an expression on her face,  she looked heart broken. You tried again to break free but stopped in your track when you heard footsteps as you tried to calm down your breath. The footsteps came closer, you were scared.
You were sitting there waiting until you got attacked or something. They came closer until your hear a familiar voice. “Y/N !” You saw your father coming in the light, rushing to help you untie yourself. When you were free, You saw that your uncle was by Katie “What happened ?” He asked you with a broken face “It's my fault. I’m stupid enough to go on a hunt and let Katie join me. If you need to blame someone, then blame me. It's my fault. I have put her in danger.” you said as tears were streaming down your face.
Your father walked over to Dean and put a hand on his shoulder. “Dean, the only way to get her out of it is to get in her dream.” Dean nodded. “I’ll go in her dream then.” you protested. “No ! I need to… No, I have go, it's my fault and I need to fix it.” Sam looked over you “You can't, you're wounded and, the spell won’t work” you nodded, disappointed, you couldn't fix it. Your uncle need to save your cousin because you can't. You felt guilty.
Dean POV
After we took care of the Djinns, we headed to the motel room and lied Katie on one of the bed, I didn’t left her side. I couldn’t, my baby girl was hurting and I really hoped I could help her with the Dream roots potion.
I saw Sam making the potion. I looked over to Katie and saw dried tears on her cheeks. i needed to save her real quick. Sam gave me the potion, I drank it and said “Slap me.” Sam looked at me confused “What are you talking about ?’’ he asked “Just d….” I felt a punch against my head and everything went black.
All the sudden I was in a old warehouse, I was freezing there. I yelled Katie's name. “Katie !” I didn't hear anything back, I looked in every room until I went in a room where I saw Katie on her knees with dream Sam, Y/N and me handcuffed against a wall.
I rushed over to her. “Katie ! Katie you need to look at me.” I put my hands on both of her cheeks and turned her head so she would looked at me. “This isn't  real. It's a dream you need to get out of it.” I begged her but she couldn’t hear me.

out of place, out of mind - 2
REMINDER: This story is meant to replace “Instinct,” so the timeline starts after 4.14 and moves forward with it’s own trajectory. It does cull hints of plots from episodes afterwards (for instance, Claudia becomes caretaker, you’ll glean the rest) but then spins off in it’s own direction. It's a fix-it on many levels and requires some knowledge of the show (as well as “part 1,” linked above). There will be typos but I’ll fix them later!
(Read first) one step forward, two steps back (v.2.0):part 1+ part 2 (Previously) out of place, out of mind: part 1
///////////////////
A ruckus erupts outside, and Myka wavers on cue, wilting with no acting required. Men rush to prop her up then ferry her behind closed doors, her maids following to assist. When the men leave to join the scuffle, Myka instantly perks up and hugs both maids goodbye. She slips out a back hallway and exits near the stables, meeting a masked, uniformed, now armed Helena by a horse.
"Are you hurt, Miss Mary," Helena says, darting forward to collect her.
Helena hugs Myka with equal intensity then holds her at arm's length, eyes beaming at her swollen belly.
Myka guides Helena's hand so it rests over her bump, smiling proudly at the child they've made together. She lifts Helena’s other hand up to her face and nuzzles her cheek into its palm.
The spell is broken by shouting in the distance, and Helena says, "We must go." She guides Myka to the horse, and helps her mount, then hops on in front of her. Myka leans into Helena and wraps her arms around her torso, burying her face in the crook of her neck. Helena shakes the reins and kicks her heels into the horse, taking off at top speed into the dark.
Their furious gallop jostles Myka into the present, and she sees how overpowered she's become by her character. Better pull herself together before it's too late or the kool-aid will take over.
-------------
When a glow appears in the distance, Myka tightens her hold, hoping they've finally reached their destination. As a farmhouse comes into view, Helena yanks on the reins, slowing the horse then dismounting.
Helena extends a hand to Myka, but Myka struggles to keep hold, her leg swinging awkwardly over the saddle. Hands swarm around her, and as her feet hit the ground, she doubles over, her nausea returning.
"Get her inside," Helena instructs, and she's ushered up wooden stairs then lowered, gently, onto a bed. Her chaperones dart about the room, drawing the curtains, closing the door, and one of them offers her a glass of water. Still nauseous, Myka declines, but breathes in deep, measured breaths, hoping to calm both her own and Mary's frayed nerves.
The low light flickers, but is bright enough to discern her aide's masculine clothes but distinctly feminine features. Guns hang from their belts and hats adorn their heads, but braids spill freely down their backs.
Helena bursts into the room and strides over to the window, parting the curtains and peering out into the abyss. A sudden distress overcomes Myka and she shimmies off the bed, worried over what happens next.
“Why did we stop here?” she asks, crossing the room to stand by Helena. "Shouldn't we should keep going?”
“In your condition, it's best Mrs. Freeman shelters us for the night.” Helena points with her eyes to Myka’s belly then returns to scrutinizing the yard.
Hooves thunder ever closer then feet pound up the stairs. Helena draws her pistol and maneuvers Myka behind her.
“Mary Louise Branson, you come out this second!” Myka's father's voice booms from the hall.
“Father, I’ll not obey you any longer,” Myka replies.
The door flies open, and Mayor Branson enters, his men streaming in behind him.
“You’ll do as I say."
“She’ll do nothing of the sort.” Helena points her pistol at Mayor Branson.
“Out of my way, you scrub!” Mayor Branson's men grab Helena, and he steps towards Myka.
“Stop right there, Mayor,” a woman’s voice, cold and authoritative, sounds from the door.
“You dare challenge me?" Mayor Branson grunts as he turns to face the woman.
“This is my territory. You’re out of your jurisdiction. You’ve no authority here."
“I’m only collecting whats mine, Mrs. Freeman."
“On my land, she’s her own property. She has free will."
“The hell she does!” Mayor Branson lunges at Myka, but Mrs. Freeman’s women surge in and surround her.
“Brazen hussies!"
“No need for obscenities, Mayor."
“Tell you what, let’s settle this once and for all, like men,” Mayor Branson looks directly at Helena. "A shootout, at dawn, winner takes all, between Jamison and that…that criminal.” Mayor Branson pats Jamison on the back and narrows his eyes at Helena.
“No one needs to die,” Myka pleads, wavering as if she might faint. The women beside her catch her before she falls.
“I’ll do whatever it takes to keep Mary by my side,” Helena says, jerking free from the men's hold and stomping in front of Jamison.
“Only a coward would hide among women. We’ll see who’s the better marksman,” Jamison says.
“I am,” Helena sneers, shoving Jamison back. The men raise their guns, and the women target the men.
“You need to leave," Mrs. Freeman says aiming her pistol at Mayor Branson. The two stare each other down until Mayor Branson huffs, dismissively.
“Gentleman, let’s go. We’ll settle this in the morning."
Guns drawn, the women follow the men as they file out of the room.
“You two rest. We’ll keep guard,” Mrs. Freeman says, warmly, then exits and closes the door.
----------------
“Are you injured?” Helena asks, searching Myka for bruising.
“I’m fine,’ Myka says, swatting Helena away. She paces across the room and throws a hand in the air. “Whatever are we going to do?”
“We’ve a few options. Don’t stress yourself with worry.”
“Do we have food, money, shelter? Where’s this baby going to be born? And if you die--”
“I won't. Please don’t fret, or you’ll harm the child.”
“This corset’s doing more harm than I am. Help me get out of this crazy thing.” Myka flinches at her outburst, but her dress is unbearable, so she reaches behind her back to undo its laces.
“Are you feeling odd, my love?” Helena asks, scrambling to help.
“Everything's odd right now,” Myka mumbles, stepping out of her dress. Helena loosens her corset ties, and she shimmies free from her bindings.
“Oh, thank god,” Myka mutters, breathing in and puffing out her belly. “I felt like a sausage in that thing.”
Helena arches a brow and cocks her head at the quip, and Myka kicks herself for messing up the scene. She closes her eyes and tries to “feel” her character, but whatever she’s done has killed the vibe.
Helena lays a hand on Myka’s stomach, then looks up, meeting her questioning eyes.
“I remember it well.”
“Helena?”
“Myka.”
They embrace.
"Why on earth are you here?”
“To bring you back. I can’t lose you, lose anyone else.” Myka blinks back a tear, suddenly overcome with genuine emotion.
“I’m so very sorry about Leena. Such a senseless, tragic event. Her light shone so brightly; the Warehouse must seem dim without her.”
“It hurts so much. I can’t talk about it yet. And Artie…"
Myka leans into Helena and Helena circles her arms around, steering her toward the bed. She lowers her down then lays next to her, maneuvering Myka's head onto her shoulder.
“If it helps at all, Artie’s beside himself. I’ve helped counsel him through his grief."
“You counseled him? When? No one would tell me where you were. Then you show up out of nowhere on this ping." Myka pushes Helena away. "Why didn't you come back after the astrolabe, after Leena?"
“You must understand, I have little agency. I was told if I followed orders, I'd be given a chance to return. And my faux pas involving you and the orb cost me."
"But you were…I mean…Emily was a security risk. You couldn’t have stayed like that."
“There are those that wouldn’t agree."
“They’re stupid."
Helena sniggers, and shifts closer to Myka.
"You died, Helena. Died to save me. You shouldn't have to follow their rules.” Myka's eyes well up. “God, these hormones!”
Helena wipes a tear from Myka’s cheek. "One act of kindness does not negate a lifetime of missteps."
“Sacrificing yourself goes beyond kindness. What good would it do to keep you locked up?"
"I’m not their prisoner. I’m free to leave at any time."
“But you said you have no agency. Why don’t you leave?"
"If I do, I’m to have no contact with the Warehouse. I’d never see nor speak to you again."
“That’s not right. That’s totally not right. You wouldn’t do that to me, would you?”
Helena inches closer and cradles Myka's jaw, kissing her softly in answer. "You had asked once, what 'this thing between us' might become and I’ve realized, life’s too short to leave such questions unanswered.”
Thoroughly charmed by Helena’s words, Myka initiates the next kiss, leaning forward, pressing their lips together. Her need to touch becomes desperate, but as she presses closer to Helena, her protruding belly gets in the way.
“I want...I need..." Myka says, slowly coming to her senses, holding a finger up to Helena's lips as Helena dips in for another kiss. "We need an exit plan."
Helena kisses Myka's finger and takes hold of her hand and presses her lips into its palm.
"H-how did you get shot instead of me? I only remember the end, and it's fuzzy.”
Heena sighs and lowers Myka hand. “I acted out of turn; hunted Jamison too aggressively. I didn’t allow the plot to guide me. I’m assuming that was in error as you’re here now.”
“Claudia told me the overall plot, the way it was supposed to happen and what went wrong. "
“I’ve deduced it's a western. A "genre" film in your times."
“No kidding," Myka says, chuckling, sliding a finger under Helena's uniform collar. “It followed a formula but had a dark ending. Claudia said it's from the 60's."
“The 1960’s? That means little to me."
"No TV in limbo?"
"Nor the bronze.”
“Books are better, anyway."
"I'm meant to shoot Jamison, aren't I, but the scene went awry."
“Yeah,” Myka says, scooting back on the bed. Helena helps her lean against the headboard then settles in beside her.
“Mary and your character were a couple in real life. By the time the film was shot she was pregnant, so they wrote it into the script."
"A romance on screen and in real-life. How charming."
"I guess.” Myka shifts to get more comfortable and Helena props her up with some pillows. "How did you deal with this? It's super uncomfortable."
"This was thrust upon you. I had time to acclimate. And it was my child growing inside of me."
"True,” Myka says, thankful it’s only temporary.
“So Jamison, and the gun?"
“Jamison and Mary dated, briefly, before Mary met 'the cowboy' but he never got over their breakup. He bought into his character, hard, and brought a real gun to the set, intending to shoot 'the cowboy' to show Mary how much he loved her.”
“Not so charming.”
“No. The gun was antique, and the kickback threw off his aim off, so he shot Mary, accidentally. The gun became an artifact when the actress died.”
“And the child?” Helena asks, laying a hand on Myka’s belly.
Myka shakes her head.
"What a shame."
“How are we going to get the gun? If we keep it from going off, we should be zapped back, right?"
"My thoughts exactly."
"We could avoid the gunfight."
"We'll be transported to the scene no matter how hard we fight it. Veering off script is difficult when the camera’s upon you."
“Then we'll have to move out of the way. We can fight it, together."
Helena's lips curl up at the ends in agreement, and Myka's heart beats a little faster.
“What’s happening now? Are we on camera?"
"It's implied that we’re…intimate."
“Intimate? When I'm like this?" Myka points at her stomach.
“Oh, yes." Helena lays a hand on Myka's shoulder and leans forward, kissing her until both parties gasp for air.
“The feeling's so strong."
"We needn't do anything you’re uncomfortable with."
"We're not ourselves, so maybe you should sleep in the chair."
"Perhaps I should."
"But I don't want you to go."
"Nor do I desire to."
"It's not bad, right, if something happens. Because we’ve already…"
"I'd like to think so."
“Then maybe we should, to stay on script."
"Perhaps, yes." Helena brushes a thumb over Myka’s cheek then kisses her, in a way that says "let’s start here and see where the night takes us.”
Myka wraps her arms around Helena and follows Helena's lead, allowing the night to guide them to places unknown.
--------------
“Father no!” Myka cries, lunging forward, nearly tripping over her dress as she swerves to avoid her maids. She skids to a stop in front Helena, holding her arms out to her sides, barricading her from further harm.
“I will not let my daughter run off with that heathen!,” Mayor Branson fumes, waving his gun at Helena.
Myka stumbles back, smacking into Helena.
“It’s alright,” Helena whispers. “We know what happens. Let the scene play out.”
Myka glances back and nods.
Helena clears her throat. “This is Jamison's fight, yet you hold me at gunpoint. You’d murder me in cold blood, as your daughter stands witness?” Helena steps in front of Myka, taking hold of her hand, staring directly into Myka's father's eyes.
“Don’t you tell me what to do, you <i>murderer,</i>.” Mayor Branson's finger tenses on the trigger and Helena smirks cockily, squeezing Myka's hand.
“I’m no murderer, and you’re fooling no one with this sham of an engagement.” Helena glares, hard, at Jamison fumbling for his gun.
“We need to get that gun,” Myka says, in Helena's ear.
“I’m aware, but we must wait. This is where my folly arose previously."
“She’s my fiancee, and that kid's mine!” Jamison snarls, wrapping both hands around the handle as he raises his gun.
“I believe you’re mistaken,” Helena answers, hand poised over her holster.
“You’re going to wish I was.” Jamison cocks the hammer using both thumbs.
Helena threads her fingers around her gun. “I won’t shoot if you put that away.”
“Give me the girl.”
“I’m the better shot.”
“Give her to me!”
“Myka, run!” Helena yelps.
“But—”
“Go!"
Helena shoves Myka aside and rushes towards Jamison, tackling him to the ground. They tumble over twice, gun waving in the air until Helena pins Jamison down. Helena glances at Myka and Myka snaps into gear, running away as Jamison flips Helena over. Myka trips and as her face hits the ground, her consciousness fades to black.

An episode of my ideal Batman show...
This is an extract from chapter/season one, aka, the ‘Dick is Robin’ era. Specifically, the ‘Dick is seventeen and starting to chafe under Bruce’s leadership, beginning to plan a move to Bludhaven’ era.
This post here is a complete ‘episode’, but I have written a full season. The bullet-points aren’t the best style for tumblr, so the full chapter is available on AO3 here.  Please check it out - other episodes include: the time Batgirl accidentally told the internet Batman’s breath smells like pepperoni, has to frantically make sure he never finds out; a full-length flashback episode that draws parallels between how Dick met Bruce and how their arguments have changed their dynamics; Dick trying to work out the best way to invite Babs to prom; and a glimpse into what the general perspective of Bats are when Gotham City puts on a play about them. Lots of Batfamily fluff, and in the coming weeks another five seasons/chapters will be added to play around with character dynamics for everyone.
Season One, Episode 13 - Birdcage
One episode revolves around Dick Grayson, the billionaire ward of Bruce Wayne, getting kidnapped.
o Bruce is going frantic.
“Yeah. I know.”
