Sylvia Legris is a plenty successful poet as is but I do feel that she should have more Tumblr cachet. Like. Locked Tomb girlies look at these bone verses
Details of Articulated Skeletons, c. 1510
Memento marrow. The treacherous thread of the unnamed. The flourish-stripped reunion of broken parts.
The polymathematician (the osteo-horoscopist) plumbs the anonymous bones, the forlorn unspoken-for. Lead white, bianco di piombo, the poisonous orbit. An algebraic
of discrete desecration. Cancellous bone, cortical bone, an innominately rising hip bone. The acrimonious split of the acromion from the scapular spine. Explode the view . . .
Exploit the post-medieval zodiac. A moon-distending thorax; the gibbosity of the humeral head. The anteriorly tilting ascent of the pelvic girdle. False false ribs and the acute
angle of descent of rib one and rib two. Memento mori. Woe betide the Renaissance bonesetter. Bone-beset.

One of these things is not like the others...
At first glance, this looks like the same plant in three different herbals. All three illustrations are labeled Acorus, which we know today as Acorus calamus, or sweet flag. It's an aquatic plant that doesn't bear a flower, and it has been used in traditional medicine around the world. But only the first illustration actually shows Acorus calamus.
The next two illustrations show a plant we know today as Iris pseudacorus, or yellow flag. It's native to Europe and is considered an invasive species in parts of the United States. It looks so much like Acorus calamus, that's how it got the name pseudacorus - but one of its distinguishing features is its yellow flower.

We'll drink a drink a drink to Lily the Pink, the Pink, the Pink!
Anyone familiar with that song? The lyrics talk about the "medicinal compound" invented by Lily the Pink, and chronicle the "efficacious" cures it has brought about, such as inducing morbid obesity to cure a weak appetite.
Lydia E. Pinkham brand "Vegetable Compound", containing extract of Piscidia Erythrina (Jamaica Dogwood), Asclepias Tuberosa (Pleurisy Root), Cimicifuga Racemosa (Black Cohosh), Vitamin B1, Dandelion, and other ingredients.
Lydia E. Pinkham, née Estes, (1819-1883) was an American proprietor who commodified her homemade herbal-alcoholic supplements, claiming they could cure any “female complaint” from menstrual discomfort to a prolapsed uterus. Pinkham began making her medicine as a home remedy, which she freely shared with family and friends. In 1875, her “Vegetable Compound” made its debut commercial appearance for $1 a bottle. In Pinkham’s life, the business grew from her cellar kitchen to a manufacturing plant that would gross just under $300,000 a year. The product is still sold today in a modified form.
Though medical experts dismissed Pinkham’s products as quack remedies, the supplements’ popularity among women persisted. Aggressive marketing of Pinkham's products contributed to their acceptance by women; slogans such as “Only a woman can understand a woman’s ills,” targeted the many women who were hesitant to consult male physicians about menstruation or other women’s health issues.

a reading for the collective; for you who see
i get the feeling that a lot of y'all out there need to take some time to nurture yourselves and those you love. there's real internal and external abundance and fulfillment available if self-reflection is practiced and if values of resilience, patience, fairness, and equity are applied not only in how you relate to your internal world of the self but also to the external world of the collective. true wisdom knows silence; true strength knows delicacy; true justice knows difference. put this into practice by calling on your inner earth mother. honor yourself, your family, your colleagues, and your clients as the perfectly flawed and beautiful divine beings of life and experience that we all are; see the change this has on your personal relationships and business partnerships. your behavior can and will act as a catalyst for some long-attempted movement and prosperity, particularly in matters of the home and career.
perhaps handling the tension with your children or in-laws requires you take a humble new perspective—perhaps you've been neglecting to respect the inherent differences in experience you and those around you always have. perhaps work has been really stressful and you are holding out hope for a shiny fresh project, a promotion, or a new job altogether. perhaps you've been exceptionally hard on yourself lately because you haven't been seeing whatever change you want manifesting yet—and maybe it's starting to bleed through to those around you. whatever the case may be, be honest—you are called to honor yourself, your values, and your goals. empathy, gentility, and perseverance will lead to your breakthrough of abundance. and for many of you i suspect the breakthrough will be one of perception—you already are surrounded by and filled with potential.
after all. as within, so without.

-->After a brief break for socializing, everyone got straight back to work -- Victor Copypastoed some fireflies for Smiler, then made some chocolatey animal treats and an inspiring perfume; Smiler took those fireflies to make spirit-lifting gummies (which got them up to Apothecary skill level 3 in the process, w00); and Alice made more boxes of MREs on the bulk processor. I then followed Victor up as he went upstairs to drop off his bottle of inspiring scent and had him do some more Copypasto (specifically, copying his new animal treats so he didn't have to waste custard making more) --
-->But uh-oh! The thing that I was hoping wouldn't happen had happened -- the flower arrangements that the gang had made near the start of this whole "grocery store" venture had started to wilt! I quickly unmarked all the arrangements for sale and had Victor sell all the bad ones directly -- as they were now covered in flies, he didn't get a good price for any of them, but since all of the arrangements we make here are free, it was still pure profit. Victor then got sent back downstairs to work on deodorant perfume --
-->While Alice came upstairs and stole some meat right out of the meat "department" to eat! Naughty werewolf! >( I guess it's my fault for not immediately marking them all for sale -- the trouble is, I need to have at least one that ISN'T for sale so Victor can Copypasto it! *grumbles* Anyway, she got punished for eating some of the product by having the bathroom sink break on her when she washed her plate -- what you get, girl! At least it didn't take her too long to fix it up.
-->Forbidden snacktime over with, it was straight back to work again -- Victor finished up his perfume, and then discharged so he could get back to Copypastoing everything he could Copypasto; Alice got put back on bulk processing, making tomato sauce and meat substitute; and Smiler took over the flower arranging bench to start replacing the wilted flower arrangements! Specifically, with excellent-quality arrangements that could be scented with bluebells, which make the arrangements "Timeless." That is, I believe they no longer wilt at ALL. Which, given how long it's taken us to fill up this store, I believe is going to be USEFUL. I was prepared to have them work at this for a while --
-->But then I noted the time both in-game and in real life, and realized, "okay, you guys should go home so I can wrap this up." So, after noting what the gang needed in the store (boxes of jam, cheese, more candles, more flower arrangements, etc), and discovering a spare picture from the family reunion still in Alice's inventory (I decided it would look cute on the front desk), I did indeed send the gang home.
Where they were promptly put back to work in the crafting barn. XD Victor was sent to make more candles; Smiler to make more chatterbots; and Alice to make more sugar to use in canning. I left it with her going "screw it, gonna just sleep on the floor here." XD Sorry, I just really, REALLY wanted to get this done!
But we're not quite there yet, so join me next time for another episode of "Time To FINISH FILLING THESE DAMN SHELVES PLEASE" -- "Is Fishing Fun?" edition! Bye!

Garden Report 22.07.02
There was several days of Summer and then it disappeared into the fog bank. Mornings are very wet and misty. The fog lifts very little but the afternoons are not as dripping wet. Occasional rain showers pass through unannounced, leaving more ... more wet, more mold, more slugs and snails, more rot, more weighted and broken branches that are trying to bear fruit on too rapid of growth branches. Trimming those that I can easily reach of the plum and taking piecemeal out to the farm for the little goats (and the rabbit). Thinking about what to do with green plums (pickles, conserves ... compost).
The blueberries continue to give out little nibbles of sweetness. The raspberries have slimed away with the rains; there was no saving anything. The tays haven’t come off yet so that may be something to look forward to in a couple of weeks.
Missed opportunities to harvest more flowers for tea. Hopefully there will be some to salvage after things dry up. The calendulas all went to seed so looking forward to collecting those. Noticed some plants that I usually forage are about a month advanced even with all the wet. I’ve also noticed that some of the birds that leave for the countryside for the summer are back visiting my garden so I’m wondering if the food sources are limited.
Harvested lemon verbena and lavender a bit before the rains. The nettles need to come off, either to propagate, dehydrate or tincture.
Hens are at peak egg laying. They are showing their age. Now that I am tracking who lays what days on the calendar, I can see that Bronte is slowing down. Alcott and Rossetti are too but not as much as their sister.
Little vermi-worms need to be divided to get that second bin wiggling.
The cat’s seed mat went out so am contemplating getting two. The guy I buy these from gives me a discount on the mats because our cats have always been rescue cats and he has a soft spot for felines. With the second mat, I can store it away for her and in anticipation that someday the summer house/potting shed will be done. I can dream, can’t I?
