Guizhong is not maternal. Guizhong is not maternal. Guizhong is not maternal. I know that this is a popular fanon take (especially pre-Lantern Rite 2023), but it's so important to me that people know that, based on what I find canon to present, that this is not an angle that I'll be playing into whatsoever on this blog. Prime example of, fanon will often not be adhered to, I think my run-ins never really play out in favour of, well, fanon. In essence:
Guizhong's curiosity and wonderment of Teyvat can best be compared to that of a child as they experience new things in life. You know when you witness a child experience something for the first time, how their eyes brighten, how they yearn to touch whatever it is that's mesmerising them, how you can hardly pull them away? That is Guizhong through and through.
She is a caring individual, but she is not soft in your traditional way. She'll build one's character through challenge, jest and overall playfulness. Comfort is offered in a similar way, it will be through a lightheartedness and sometimes, it can (and will) have adverse reactions/will backfire, surely. Remember, regardless of how one perceives Morax and Guizhong's dynamic, she had to keep up with him (or vice versa), for them to have ruled alongside one another as they did with the stoic personality that we know that he did.
To elaborate on the former point, she is wildly competitive, in all aspects of her existence. She will endeavour to win games minor or major (and absolutely, she could cheat; but will avoid it, because it's hardly as satisfying), to out-do Cloud Retainer in their mechanical discussions and capabilities, the Cleansing Bell is almost a competition within itself with Streetward Rambler— even in jest, she will attempt to outdo. It's all in good fun, but it is also inherently in her nature.
She smiles and laughs a lot, and it's likely why the glaze lilies bloom as abundantly as they do in the midst of this little goddess of dust. And frankly, just like children thrive in the joy of others— she is much like her lilies, and thus thrives in the same circumstances and surroundings as them. But in this, it's also important to note that a lot of her lightheartedness towards others is also to bring the same to others: smiles, laughter and joy.

Always n Forever ꕤ
a story in which, Morax has always had his eyes on you, one of Guizhong’s priestess — after a long battle and the succession of defending Guili plains, she allows him to have his way with you as a reward.
wc: 5.6k (sorry!)
contents+warnings: fem!reader, heavy breeding, mating presses, marking, overstimulation, cum eating, female!reader, monsterfucking, anal, vaginal penetration, use of aphrodisiacs, dubcon(?), size kink, slight spoilers(?), blowjobs, reincarnation. (This kinda follows the what if theory that Ningguang is the reincarnation of Guizhong.) HALF DRAGON ZHONGLI!
a/n: this has been sitting in my docs for about a month, posting it for @thicksimpx 🫶🏼 anyways, thank you to my beta readers: @manjiroscum @bubble4u & @gabzlovesu 💗

Men, women, children, and even adepti gather in the plains of Guili for this night of repose — gathering around the trees that were birthed from the earth while they sing songs of victory underneath the golden leaves as the gods sit high above.
“The Guili assembly has grown quite significantly,” Guizhong muses. There’s a smile on her face as she fondly watches the humans rejoice in victory below. Some of them were born here, while others sought refuge after losing their homes in the war — Guizhong loved them all the same. “And even though this victory is temporary, I wish all nights could be like this.”
And although Guizhong is talking, her companion, Morax, does not say anything. Instead, he takes a sip of his wine from his dish as he watches intently below — his gaze focused on the form of a woman, carefully stringing along her guzheng as children crowd around her.
From the corner of her eye, Guizhong catches a glimpse of Morax hunched over, his chin resting in his palms as he focuses on something other than her.
“Is there something on your mind? I’ve never seen you so focused,” Guizhong teases, taking a sip of her wine. “Or perhaps someone?”
Guizhong follows his gaze, and amongst the crowd of faces, she’s able to spot you. That’s when she pieces two and two together.
It doesn’t take a god to see the attraction that Morax has to you. It hasn’t gone unnoticed by Guizhong either, the way his eyes always search for you whenever he steps foot in her temple.
“Morax,” Guizhong sings as she rocks back and forth in her seat, the contents of her drink spilling from the dish. There’s an all-knowing look on her face.
Morax merely grunts, looking at her with a blank expression.
“Have you perhaps taken an interest in one of my maidens,”
Morax doesn’t say anything. He’d rather not tell her how he’s been watching you for ages and how something about your softness moved even his war-hardened self, your kind deeds towards others never going unnoticed by the lord of geo. But Guizhong is not stupid — nothing gets past her crimson gaze.
Even Cloud Retainer muses beside the lord of dust. She shifts her attention towards the small adepti in her arms, the chubby horned child bouncing in glee.
“I can tell by the glint in your eyes, my old friend,”
If Morax was the brawns behind Liyue, then it was without a doubt that Guizhong was the brains. He looks at her — his eyebrows furrowing.
“Am I really that easy to read,” Morax asks, earning a response from his peer.
“I’ve known you for centuries, Morax,”
Both gods watch from afar as you and the rest of Guizhong’s maidens pass out food to the others, the sound of laughter carrying through the air.
“You know, Morax. Humans’ lives are feeble. What’s a year to us is almost an eternity to humans.”
There’s a pregnant pause, Morax’s attention shifting back to your form in the distance.
“I am a god of war, not a god of love. I know nothing about the affairs of the heart,”
Guizhong sighs, thinking of ways to get the two of you together until it dawns on her. “I’ll have my daughters prepare for the night tomorrow. You will meet her in my shrine.”
Morax turns towards the ash-haired woman as he quirks a brow. She merely smiles in response. “Think of this as a reward, a temporary arrangement for the success of defending our lands.”

There’s a curtain of silence that befalls the room, not a single word uttered as you’re placed in front of an expensive vanity lined with costly jewels and desirable ores. You fidget in your seat, and the wooden stool beneath you creaks at the movement.
“My lady, must I really do this?” You ask with a slight edge to your tone, your eyes wandering nervously from your reflection in the mirror to her.
An uneasy feeling bubbles in your stomach as you wait for Guizhong to answer — and if she could notice your change in demeanor, she did a great job at pretending she didn’t. But then again, she’s a god, and you’re a human. She could never understand the anxiety you’re feeling even if you were to voice your concerns. The divine being would never feel even an ounce of your uncertainty. Thus one of the pros of being a god, you think.
Guizhong drags the brush along your eyelid, perfectly lining your eyes as she carries the crimson shade of red across your skin. The after result gives you a charming but soft look.
“Relax, my child, everything will be alright,” Guizhong’s voice is soft. She dips the brush she was using into a sticky mixture before dipping it into the bowl that contains the red substance. Then, bringing it to your mouth, she traces it along your lips.
If your goddess said it’s going to be alright, then you suppose it’s best to trust her. After all, you owe her your life, considering she took you in after the providence was destroyed — gave you a status, fed you, and raised you like you were her own.
When Guizhong pulls away, you steal glances in the mirror, admiring her handiwork from every angle. She laughs when she catches you. “We’re not quite done yet,”
She walks away, and you can hear her rumbling with something, whatever it was, clanked and rattled. When she returned, she stood behind you — draping an expensive-looking necklace around your neck, the weight of it nearly causing your shoulders to slump.
But it was beautiful, a pure gold chain with noctilous jade and cor lapis decorating it, and even in the candle-lit room — those gems glimmered in the light.
“Wow,”
Guizhong hums, “hold still,” she holds another expensive piece of jewelry in her hands, this time a gold crested ornament.
Weaving the ornament in your hair, Guizhong adjusts it to her liking — the decoration resting proudly on your head.
“And for the finishing touches, take these,”
The goddess smiles, tying a pouch around your wrist — you turn your head. “What’s this?”
“A fragrance pouch, it contains the petals of freshly bloomed flowers, and drenched in the essence that secretes from mist flower corollas,”
Sniffing your wrist to confirm, the aroma is intense and overwhelming. Although it’s pleasant, it’s almost enough to make you gag.
“And this?” You question, holding a clear pouch in your palm — the contents of it being a thick concoction of some sort.
“A salve,” Guizhong giggles, “consists of slime extractions, herbs, and water, don’t worry Morax will know how to use it,”
You nod, deciding to not pry further on what she meant by that.
“And before you go, drink this,”
Guizhong pushes a stone cup into your hands that holds a red liquid — the substance sloshing around the rim as she gestures for you to drink it.
You don’t question it, putting your utmost faith in your goddess; there’s a bitter taste that lingers on your tongue after you swallow down the drink — you assume it’s some medicine.
“Your beauty rivals even the divine,” Guizhong says, watching as you spin in the mirror, her hands ghosting over your waist.
You’re slightly embarrassed. The garments she picked out looked expensive, exotic even — were these really tailored just for you? A lowly priestess. The colors Guizhong hand-picked for you were gorgeous, complimenting your skin beautifully. Although you had wished the clothing wasn’t so revealing, the only thing covering your more sacred areas were the little undergarments that barely hid anything.
“May I ask you something,” Guizhong places her hands on your shoulders, her touch soft against your skin.
“What is it, my lady,”
“Tell me, what do you think of Morax,”
You think for a bit, remembering the few instances you’ve shared with said man, “I think he’s nice,”
“Nice?” Guizhong laughs. It’s gentle and soft.
“He compliments my singing and praises my ability to play my guzheng,” You say, recalling the times he’s sat with you among the rocks listening to you play. “And, he tells me stories,” you hadn’t even realized that you were smiling thinking of your time together.
“I see,”
Guizhong smiles. It’s gentle and caring. She places a hand on the small of your back before leading you out of your sleeping chambers — escorting you past the central area of the shrine, down to the lower compartments that were used for temporarily harboring guests.
“My dear, I pray you never change,”
You’re confused about what she means, but you don’t dwell on it — your goddess speaks typically in riddles and rhymes, never giving you a clear answer even when you ask.
You shift your attention, your sleeves dragging across the flooring have you huffing and puffing, an amused expression dawning on Guizhong’s face.
++
The room she had you placed in was magnificent, even prettier than your own — the bed was more significant, and the fabrics that rested upon it varied from exotic-looking silks to other materials you don’t even recognize.
Even the ground beneath you was soft; looking down, you notice the intrinsic designs of the rug under you — you wonder what nation this was imported from.
There’s a vanity across the room, it’s enormous — with flowers placed neatly in a vase, and there’s a thin wave of smoke that dances through the air, radiating from the incense that rested next to the vase alongside a few candles.
There’s a familiar scent in the air, and you can’t quite put your finger on it, but before you can figure it out, there’s a loud clicking noise — turning around, you see that your goddess is gone, the door shut tightly behind her.
It’s almost unsettling how quiet it is. Only the sound of the incense burning keeps you company. You sit on the bed anxiously as you fiddle your thumbs in anticipation while waiting for the guest of honor to arrive.
There’s a tingling sensation in your lower regions, and you rub your thighs together to help relieve the feeling. Still, to no avail — your body feels like it’s heating up. So, finally, you pull the sleeves down so they’re slightly hanging off your shoulders.
You hadn’t even realized that the man you were waiting for had already arrived, his tail dragging behind him as he stood in the doorway. His golden eyes scanned your body — sizing you up with a carnal desire.
“M—morax,” You stutter in embarrassment as you straighten yourself out, rubbing down any creases of your robe.
You’ve never really seen this much of the lord of geo. But, of course, serving his companion’s court instead didn’t give you much time, especially considering your status. it wasn’t rare for you to see his face. Still, every time you did, it was fleeting, leaving hardly enough time to remember his beauty — but here, now, you’re able to admire his features.
He’s handsome, you think, the lighting accentuating his looks. His piercing eyes glowed a dim gold, and even his hair was beautiful, long, and smooth brown locks that transitioned to a lighter color nearing the ends with a set of horns protruding through the top of his head that curved inward.
You’re not quite sure where to look, feeling like a pervert with how hard you’re staring. Morax is clad in nothing but a white garb tied around his waist, revealing his well-sculpted body, the scars he’s received from battles — and the markings that came with being the Geo Archon.
The more you stare at his arms, the more flustered you become — brown and gold scales, with markings that decorate the bulging muscles that resided underneath and resting at his shoulders.
You allow your eyes to roam lower, staring at the golden geo sigil that rested on his lower abdomen — right below his stomach, wedged between the patches of scales that resided on either side.
You hadn’t even realized that you’d been staring for so long if it wasn’t for the deep hum that left Morax’s chest.
There’s a hand on Morax’s face as he admires the choice of clothing Guizhong’s picked out for you on this occasion. You’re clad in little to nothing. The flimsy, transparent robe did nothing to cover the white undergarments underneath.
He doesn’t say a word when he stalks towards you, nor when he places a hand upon your body —  trailing his limbs lower until they land on the outline of your robe, his touch is rough as he takes the thin material between his claws, before ripping it to sheds, leaving the remains scattered across the bed as he strips you down to your undergarments.
Morax grabs at your chin, forcing you to look at him, and when you stare back with your gentle, doe-like eyes, The lord of geo finds himself with the sudden urge to ruin you, to break down the pristine priestess that Guizhong had made you and rebranding you as his own.
Golden eyes stare at you with such intensity that you can’t help but feel nervous, he hasn’t said anything while he is staring into your face, and it’s beginning to make you feel self-conscious, but as soon as he pulls his hands away, a wave of relief washes over you as a soft sigh falls from your lips.
And for a moment, you feel a temporary relief as the cool air fans against your warm body.
“On your back,” The authority in Morax’s tone left no room for rebuttal. You do as you’re told and lay against the bed, propped up on some pillows.
The mattress creaks as Morax slots himself between your thighs — his long reptilian-like tongue tracing along your folds, coating them in his saliva while he teases your slit.
You shiver, the coolness against your cunt sending shocks of pleasure down your spine. You gasp as soon as you feel him dip his slimy appendage inside.
“Morax,” you moan, his tongue delving deeper inside you — rubbing against your walls deliciously. Morax hums, and you can feel the vibrations in your core.
The longer he spends between your legs, the more your body quivers and writhes underneath him, not sure where to grab — your hands land on his horns. Morax pauses for a minute, and you can feel him flinch under your touch before he resumes.
You’re curious, giving the base of his horns a squeeze to elicit another reaction. You rest your palms against the base before guiding them to the tips in a stroking manner — this time, he groans, grinding his face deeper into your cunt as both his arms wrap underneath you, forcing you closer to him as he savors your taste.
And savors, he does. Morax thinks you taste divine, better than any wine Liyue has to offer, and your moans only drive him further to continue drinking up everything you have to offer as his tail swishes side to side, hitting the ground with a thump.
Morax places his thumbs upon your womb, tracing the flesh with his sharp claws — an outline of a geo sigil forming underneath his touch, unlike his own, it’s dull, but that doesn’t stop him from rubbing over it, basking in how your skin feels soft against his own before he squeezes down into the marking causing you to whimper.
There’s a foreign sensation in your lower stomach that has your mind growing fuzzy while specks of white litter your sight — the feeling only getting worse, it’s becoming harder to focus, and the hold you have on his horns loosens.
He knows you’re close, he can tell, bringing a finger to your aching clit — he’s careful of his claws, and slowly, he rubs circles into your swollen bundle of nerves.
“M—Morax,” You cry as you close your eyes, coating his face with your slick as you cum — but he doesn’t let up, not when your cunt is producing more and more slick, some of which spills from his mouth. His tongue is still deep inside you as he laps at your core, and you can feel the tip of his appendage twisting along your walls.
It’s almost embarrassing how loud and lewd his slurping noises are, flustering you even more as the sounds increase in volume.
It’s not until he’s made you cum twice more does he pull away, a mixture of your essence and his saliva dripping from his tongue.
There’s a huge bulge between his legs, the white cloth he had wrapped around him begging to slide off his waist until finally, he discards it, revealing his cock in all its glory.
Morax’s cock was huge, and you stared at it in an odd fascination — the veins on his shaft glowing as they pulsed while the head leaked a golden essence.
I don’t think that’s going to fit, you think, slightly terrified at the idea of that monster penetrating you even with all the slick between your thighs — there’s no way.
The weight of the bed shifts drastically as Morax climbs on top of you, the mattress dipping underneath the combined weight — his body completely dwarfing your own. You’ve never felt this small a day in your life until now. He places a large hand above your head to steady himself, preventing him from crushing you with his overbearing mass.
You can feel the tip of Morax’s cock prod against you. He rubs it along your wet folds — collecting as much slickness as possible to saturate his shaft for an easy push.
As soon as Morax has decided he’s ready, the fat, mushroom tip of his cock disappears between your folds — stretching your poor hole as he forces more of himself inside.
He grunts, “relax,”
Easier said than done, you think, the stretch burns instead uncomfortably, and you’re glad he at least tried to prep you for what's to come.
“My goddess,” You choke, bracing yourself.
Morax halts, his hips coming to a still — there’s a dangerous glint in his eyes as he stares down at your face, “The only god right now is me,” He sneers, the tips of his fangs peeking through his lips like a feral animal.
There’s something exciting about the way Morax looks at you that has the heat rising to your cheeks, igniting something inside you that you didn’t realize was there. “Yes, my god,” you correct yourself, locking eyes with the man above you. For a brief second, he can see the hint of exhilaration flickering in your orbs.
Your submissiveness pleases Morax, causing his cock to stir at the idea of you allowing him to use you as he sees fit — breeding you every day, every hour for the rest of your mortal life span.
“Good girl,” Morax praises, groaning as he finally bottoms out — it’s a tight fit, but it feels as if you were made for him. He’s almost envious of Guizhong for having found you first.
Morax hunches over, the hand above your hand gripping the sheets, and you can hear the faint sounds of them being torn. You wonder if Guizhong will scold him when she finds out.
Morax can barely contain himself as he lets you adjust to his size, it’s taking everything inside him not to aggressively slam into you — conquering your body and claiming it as his own, but he waits. Remembering the conversation Guizhong had with him before.
Do not break her, or else I will break you.
You place your hands on Morax’s biceps, allowing them to wander over the space of his chest. There’s a smile on your face as you look at him.
“I’m ready,”
Morax’s gaze holds a certain softness to it, golden orbs staring at you in affection. He nods.
Burying his face into the crook of your neck, Morax’s pace starts off slow, but his thrusts are deep — the tip of his cock hitting further with each movement as he litters kisses upon your skin that have moans escaping past your lips.
Morax thinks the noises you’re making are cute, determined to hear more — he places a hand upon your chest before sneaking it under the white fabric that concealed them. Carefully he pinches and tweaks with the hardening bud.
He moves away, grabbing at the top of your garment before tearing it off, leaving your chest exposed to the cool air — and although the sudden drop in temperature does nothing to you, your body feels like it’s burning up.
Morax watches in fascination as your chest bounces with each thrust of hips, encouraging him to go faster — the wet sound of skin slapping against skin rings throughout the room.
Morax pushes your legs to your chest, ramming into you with better precision for him to go deeper — to explore more of you.
Wrapping your arms around Morax’s broad back, holding as much as you can as his heavy cock drags along your walls, it’s getting harder to focus on anything other than the way he feels inside you — mainly when his tip grazes against your cervix, the fullness you feel is satisfying.
“More— more,” You whine. It comes out shaky, and who is Morax to deny his favorite mortal the pleasure she’s receiving from him, and only him.
Morax’s thrust becomes more fevered as he brings you closer to the edge, your walls spasming around him as you cum with a cry. His cock twitches and pulsates as he spills his seed inside you — the geo sigil on you finally coming to life and glowing a vibrant gold as he fills your womb.
And even though he just came, he’s still not done, his cock still rock-hard as he continues slamming into you, robbing you of another orgasm.
He’s determined to fill you up with all he has to offer. Even with the mixture of your juices overflowing from your hole and seeping through the sheets below, he’s not finished.
It isn’t until he’s pumped his fourth load into you does he pull away, leaving you a panting mess as thick substances of white spill from your cunt.
It isn’t enough, Morax thinks, even as you lay there, body convulsing in pleasure — he wants more. He wants all you have to offer. He flips you over so that you’re lying on your stomach, he moves your body with ease, repositioning you however he pleases, and it’s not like you’re in any state to protest.
He raises your ass, spreading your plush cheeks with his hands giving him a nice view of your drooling cunt that still leaked with cum, and your other — more exclusive hole.
Morax brings his face closer, tracing your folds with his tongue. You shudder in his embrace and feel him tease your spent hole again. Then, scooping out a mix of cum, the man brings it to your asshole, spitting it out and watching as it delves down the curve of your ass.
You screech, feeling the sudden intrusion in your ass. Morax’s lips pressed against your hole as his tongue dives deeper inside you — loosening up as much as possible for what’s to come next.
But before he continues, he’s reminded of the salve Guizhong had given you that lay discarded on the edge of the bed. You feel him shift above you as he reaches over your body — his arms grabbing at the clear pouch.
There’s a ripping noise that rings in your ears as Morax empties the contents of the pouch into the crack of your ass — you cringe, the thick, slimy mixture feeling cold upon your skin as it travels down the between the crevice of your cheeks, a generous amount coating even your hole.
Your grip on the sheets beneath you tighten, scrunching the silk fabric under your palms — your breathing becomes heavy as you feel the tip of Morax’s cock nudge against your ass as he mounts you.
He spreads your cheeks, guiding his length to your tighter hole before he pushes in — stretch burns at first as his cock forces its way inside, and thanks to the salve, it’s not unbearable.
“Morax,” You cry weakly as you feel him push himself in, completely sheathing himself in your warmth, his heavy balls resting against you.
There’s snot dripping down your nose, and you’re glad he can’t see your face at the moment — you’re sure you look terrible.
“M—move, please,”
Morax is gentler this time, gritting his teeth as he thrusts into you. The hold he has on your hips is less than bruising.
He nearly doubles over, feeling your hole squeeze around him.
“F—fuck,” You cry at the fullness, his cock dragging incredibly slow along your insides — you slam your hips back against his. “Harder, please,”
Morax raises a brow, and here he thought you were but an innocent maiden — being deflowered by a monster. It’s amusing, to say the least.
Morax’s balls slap against your ass with pap noise as he picks up his speed — your moans increase in volume as he builds momentum.
“You feel so good,” You whine, specks of white clouding your vision as your mind becomes hazy. Your orgasm washes over you like a wave, and your body feels like it’s becoming weaker as you fall into the mattress.
Morax wraps his arms around you, supporting your body as he continues fucking you — chasing his own end.
There’s a familiar warmth spreading through your body as he cums, thick globs of white dripping from your ass.
You’re tired, nearly passing out on the pillows until Morax flips you over again. This time you’re on your back as he hovers over your body, knees folded underneath him.
“Do you think we’re done?” He asks, his cock still hard. He aligns it with your mouth, pressing the tip into the softness of your lips. “Open,”
There’s a pause before you do as you’re told, your eyes scanning up and down his length that’s still fully hard. Is this the will of the gods?
You part your lips around his cock, his weight feeling heavy in your mouth.
Slowly,  you run your tongue across his shaft — tracing every vein that roams across his cock with your muscle.
You can feel the veins throb underneath your tongue. Morax places a hand on the back of your head, forcing you to take more of him.
Morax looks down at you, sweat dripping from his body as he watches you bob your head up and down his cock, “Just like that, he praises,”
Your jaw feels like it’s on fire as it aches, and you’re not quite sure how much longer you can take this, but you’re determined to please your god.
Your prayers have been answered, and it’s not long before you feel him throb inside your mouth as his cum spurts down your throat — he pulls away.
“Swallow,”
You obey, opening your mouth to show that you’ve swallowed all of him, leaving nothing left in your mouth, and you can still taste him on your tongue — salty but not disgusting.
Morax places a palm on your cheek, stroking it gently, “you’ve done so well, but the night is still young. We won’t stop until my seed seeps from every orifice you own,”
And knowing him, it was a promise. By the end of the night, your body will only know Morax. He’s determined to mold your walls in the shape of his cock, to ruin you for anyone else, no matter how many times you reincarnate — you’ll always yearn for him.
+
It was no surprise that Morax had taken you as a lover when he came to Guizhong asking for your hand in marriage — only shocking a few of her priestesses at the sudden intrusion. Their gasps and whispers could be heard amongst themselves.
And, of course, Guizhong was more than happy to comply with his wishes, wedding you off without a second thought.
But alas, that moment of bliss wasn’t destined to last forever, especially in the era of war.
It wasn’t long before Morax had lost Guizhong in the aftermath, returning to dust in the plains of Guili. And although losing her hurt, it was a heavier loss when your mortality had finally claimed you, reminding him that human life is feeble.
It saddened him to no end that you weren’t around to see the progress of Liyue after Mt. Aoyang. However, Morax wanted nothing more than to walk with you upon the grounds now called the harbor.
+
Centuries have passed by now, and Morax is no more than a distant memory, recorded in history alongside most of his conquests for all of time to keep. And even though his previous incarnations are no more, Zhongli still harbors the feelings of each and every life, treasuring them fondly — their memories continue to shine like gold.
And as he sits in the harbor at his favorite restaurant, there’s not a day where he doesn’t think back to you, and the time he shared with you — even if they felt like mere minutes to him.
“and what happened to Morax after the death of his lover,” Paimon asks, both the traveler and her staring at him expectantly as they awaited his answer.
Zhongli clears his throat, “After the heavy loss of his lover, he grew fearful of being alone after being taught by the human woman how to love and be loved. He took on many lovers over the years after, and yet none of them could fill the void left in his chest.”
“Did he love them,” Paimon places a finger on her chin as she ponders out loud.
“Of course he did. He loved all of them for as long as time had allowed it,” Zhongli muses, although there’s a hint of melancholy in his tone.
Aether gives him an unapologetic look as he thinks back to his twin and how he was separated from her before entering Teyvat.
“Wow, Morax must’ve really been popular among the—“Before Paimon can finish her sentence, Aether quickly covers the smaller being's mouth with his palm. “Paimon, there’s a time and place for everything, but now is not the time,” He sighs, feeling the flying girl protest against him as she angrily flails her tiny limbs.
Zhongli smiles fondly, unfazed by Paimon’s annoyance. The food in front of them had long gone cold as he shared the story of Morax’s greatest treasure.
Paimon flails in Aether’s hold before stopping, her attention focused on the gasps and gossiping going on around her from the other customers in the restaurant.
“What’s the Tianquan doing walking so freely in the harbor,” One mumbled. They all look in awe as she walks past the establishment in broad daylight without any millelith guards behind her.
“Lady Ningguang,” You whine, following after her, your clipboard shaking in your grasp as you pant. For someone wearing heels and a heavy dress, you’re surprised she can walk so fast.
At the sound of a familiar voice, Zhongli’s ears perk up as he turns his attention towards you — his eyes widening before returning to their average size. His sudden silence shocks Aether and Paimon. Aether and both of them don’t say anything, opting to follow Zhongli’s gaze before they land on you.
Ningguang ignores you, continuing on her merry way toward the docks hoping to see the freshest stock of fish that’s arrived.
“But what about Qingce Village?!” You huff loud enough for Ningguang to hear you, although she doesn’t stop.
“I’ll have the yuheng deal with it. Keqing’s always looking for something to do,” Ningguang says as she waves you off, continuing on her way.
“And what about all your paperwork?”
“Ganyu can handle it,” Ningguang answers, all too calmly, for a woman who controls the fate of Liyue.
You groan in frustration throwing your clipboard on the ground. So bothersome, you grumble.
When Aether and Paimon shift their attention back to Zhongli, they both jump, realizing his absence.
“Where’d he go?” Paimon says, looking everywhere, from underneath his seat to underneath the table.
“Over there,” Aether points, and sure enough, there he was, striking up a conversation with you.
“Do they know each other,” Paimon asks, placing a finger on her chin. Aether shrugs in response, “not quite sure, but something tells me she might be an old friend of his,”
“Excuse me, you seem to have dropped something,” There’s a tall man before you, he’s handsome, and you can’t help but feel like you’ve seen him before.
“Do I know you?” You ask in confusion, the man in front of you staring intently — although it wasn’t you, he was focused on. There’s a glint of disdain in his eyes as he looks upon the light-colored anemo vision that dangles from your waist.
“Ah, my apologies, my name is Zhongli,” Zhongli smiles, handing you back your clipboard.
“You know,” You start, eyeing him up and down before taking your belongings. “I feel like I’ve met you before,”
“Hm, is that so?”
“Yeah, something about you feels familiar,”
“Although, I don’t recall meeting you before,” Zhongli lies, “I’d like to get the chance to,”
“O—oh,” There’s a heat rising to your face, and your heart pounds against your chest — the man’s charm flustering you. “I— I think I’d like that too,”
There’s a smile on Zhongli’s face as he places a hand on your back, leading you through the harbor — you don’t resist, allowing him to guide you wherever listening to him talk mindlessly about the weather.
Aether and Paimon look at each other in confusion, the blow shaking his head.
“Did we just get ditched,” Paimon asks, tilting her head to the side as she rubs her chin.
Aether nods, “and with the bill, too,” he sighs, picking up the piece of paper before reading it — his face pales, and golden eyes widen in horror as he reads aloud the total.

guizhong’s eyes narrowed at the sight of you two. through her mind ran some… not so friendly thoughts towards you. she was mainly confused. how could a mere mortal be the soulmate of rex lapis? as much as she tried to wrap her head around it, the red string around both your pinkies did little to help her understand.
she watched on as the pair of you shared a pot of specially brewed tea, something she and morax once did. her eyes tracked the easy conversation and soft smiles you shared before trailing down to her own cup of tea. taking a sip, she couldn’t help but sigh. it no longer tasted the same as it once had, being no more than a regular brew. she placed her cup down with a soft clink before gazing off at a small bird nearby. soon after, another joined, the two of them chirping happily before a third joined them. the new bird and the second then promptly flew away, leaving only the first bird, all alone. guizhong frowned at the sight, it felt as though mother nature herself had it out for her.
with a determination she’d never felt before, guizhong decided to wait. wait for you to leave, for morax to seek her out. wait to show him the fragile pieces of her heart that you so blamelessly shattered. for him to hold her face so tenderly, wiping her tears and whispering apologies and praises for waiting.
she knew deep down that this would never happen. but there was nothing else she could do, or more than her heart would break. this mask, a finely crafted facade. thinly veiled jealously hidden with small smiles when you lock eyes. the rare occasions when she and the other adept i were invited to dinner: she manages to sit right next to morax every time without complaint from anyone. her willingness to help you craft gifts for rex lapis - you knew to go to guizhong because she knew him best. better than anyone else, even his soulmate. it was little things like that that she hung onto, desperately clinging onto fleeting moments that connected her with the love of her life. she’d do anything to keep things like this, at least she could still see rex lapis’ benign smile that mirrored your own. she could still hear that silky smooth baritone voice as it told you honest truths and confessions of love.
maybe she was asking for too much. it was clear to anyone that the two of you were happy, content as soulmates and lovers. so to want more, more than any friend should have… it broke her heart to know how much she could hurt him.

THE VERY FIRST TIME you asked him that question was on a day like every other. In fact, there was barely anything special about that day that could've brought rise to such a forward question. Liyue was as calm as the ocean breezes from the direction of Guyun Stone Forest, the same as ever. You were sitting across from the man of your dreams with delicacies laid out on the table at Third-Round Knockout, the same as ever.
But it was no compulsion, no forcefulness either, just a need to reaffirm. For it still felt like a dream that you were here right now, sitting across from him.
"ZHONGLI, do you love me?" You asked.
He was a man of respectable virtue, a man whose knowledge knew no bounds, a man of perfectly sculpted features that you had to rub your eyes in a daze when you met him for the first time. Nothing could begin to describe how honored you felt to have him call you his lover and him yours after all those years of admiring him from afar.
Even now, it still felt surreal. So, so surreal that he chose you, just like how you'd choose him over any other on this land — but, you needed a confirmation, a reassurance that this was all true. And so, that was why you just had to ask.
But love might've been too strong a word for a mutual connection that had only sparked so recently. Maybe he, too, thought the same because Zhongli turned to look at you with an expression that spoke of surprise. For a moment, you felt conscious underneath his questioning gaze.
Goodness, why did you say that? Why did you act so impulsive? It was as if your mouth had a mind of its own and for a moment, you wanted to bury your face in your hands and never look up.
Perhaps, you should just take back that question—
"Let me put my thoughts into words," he hummed in response, the slight shock on his face subtly dissolving into gentleness. By doing so, your thoughts were grounded to a halt as he rested a hand on top of yours. Its warmth was familiar and you had to stop a bashful smile from blooming like a flower on your lips.
Zhongli was actually humoring you and your silly question, you realized.
"Well... oftentimes, I find myself staring at Silk Flowers, knowing that they remind me of your soft gaze and that I'd want to give them to you as a gift. Although, at times, that plan is unable to come to fruition if I forgot to bring a pouch of Mora with me," he mused, eyes closed.
You stifle a mirthful laugh with your hand at the last part, even more when you noticed that he was stating it matter-of-factly rather than saying it as a joke.
"And when I sit down to watch Ms. Yun's performance, there are times where a voice in my mind echoes to me, 'they would've loved this' as I listen. Slowly but surely, you begin to occupy my mind so naturally, as natural as the cycle of the sun and the moon," he added.
You were hanging onto his every word, his melodious voice, his beautiful amber irises, his everything. You knew why; because he was never the type to sweeten his words with sugar or honey, never with the intention to entice you into falling harder for him with speech. No, rather, it was because Zhongli was always honest. As if his words were gospel to your ears; anything he said, he meant it and this time was no exception.
If there was ever a moment that you wished you could capture and replay over and over again like a broken record, it would have surely been this one. It was only when his previously serious tone morphed into a fit of chuckles was how you realized you were spacing out. His eyes crinkled even more beautifully than the crescent in the night sky as he said, "Well, is that enough or shall I tell you more?"
"N-no, that's enough," you tried to hide your face behind your unoccupied hand, albeit horribly failing because Zhongli only seemed to laugh harder. His voice echoed like music in your ears and Archons, you just fell more and more for him.
He said it himself; that he was yours, yours, yours, finally yours.
(But at the time, you were yet to be made aware of the stories from the past.)
─ ⊹ ⊱ ・・・・・・☆・・・・・・・⊰ ⊹ ─
THE SECOND TIME you asked him that question was when you discovered that Zhongli, once, had a lover. At first, it wasn't surprising to you because almost everyone had a love that either wasn't meant to be or lost itself to time. In his case, it was the latter, or so you heard from the whispers of passersby.
"There is a tavern that puts a vase of Glaze Lilies on their tables when they open at nighttime and when the gentleman from Wangsheng Funeral Parlor visits, he stares at the flowers longingly while he sits. I think the flowers remind him of someone."
"Maybe it's Mx. [Y/N] he is thinking about?"
But you knew better, Zhongli said it to you himself; Silk Flowers were what reminded him of you, not Glaze Lilies. A trivial detail to some, but it meant a lot to you. You weren't mad nor angry but instead, you felt rather curious.
You never heard any of the stories from Zhongli himself, although you supposed you already knew why. It was either he never brought it up to shelter your feelings, or maybe even his own. They said curiosity was what killed the cat, but you still held on to this curiosity, whether that be for better or for worse.
When you finally came to the decision that you'd gather the courage to ask him about her someday, it was a time when the both of you were resting from the mundane routines of the day. Your head was on his lap and his fingers were tangled in your hair, courtesy of being gently pulled onto his lap after you complained about a headache quietly.
The desire to ask Zhongli about his previous lover was constantly knocking in the back of your mind, the words of it lost somewhere on your tongue. Was this a good decision? Why did you become so inquisitive as of late? But you finally managed to gulp down the boulder of hesitation caught in your throat.
"...What kind of person was she? The one before me?"
Your tone was doubtful, your question was vague — but still, his fingers that were just carding through your hair stopped. Halted in its tracks so abruptly that you felt an instant rush of worry coursing through you, you sat up from your position with a concerned frown.
"'I'm sorry, I shouldn't have—"
"No," the man shook his head, his voice meeker than the usual certainty that you had grown used to. Your heart sank, had you crossed the line? As if your thoughts were written across your forehead, Zhongli placed his hands on your shoulders and laid you back onto his lap. "It's alright," he smiled.
You wondered if that smile was just a front to comfort you, but his gentle gesture was too hard to resist and you found staring up at his face with your head on his thigh. His gaze didn't meet yours, however; he wasn't trying to avoid you but rather, he was looking into the distance.
Looking at something, looking at a memory.
"She was wonderful," he uttered, a delayed answer to the question you asked him. The image of a fond smile had seemed to sew itself tight on his lips, you couldn't help but gape in awe at his beauty. Oblivious to your adoring gaze, he continued his story, "We used to chatter into the night, she more than I, about the present and future of Liyue with cups of Osmanthus Wine in our hands."
His fingers made themselves at home in between your locks again, smoothing out and counting the strands idly. You managed to note a familiar detail in his words as you hummed, "Osmanthus Wine? Like the one you brought home for us the other day?"
"Yes, dear, like the one I brought home for us that day," Zhongli chuckled at the sudden way your sharp memory decided to make itself apparent. "I used to drink the wine with her and my old friends," he added. Zhongli always had a fondness for that drink and only now, had he told you why.
But it invoked an unnamed feeling inside your chest, knowing that mellow yet sweet drink you once shared with your lover was actually a token from the past he used to share with another. ...Was this jealousy? No, you shouldn't. You felt guilty, terrible for feeling this way when he was speaking of nostalgic memories so beautifully.
"You must've loved her greatly," you tried to muster a smile, one that looked sweet from the outside but came from a bitter place deep down. "Yes, I did," Zhongli smiled too and the genuineness in that smile only hurt you even more.
Will he ever speak of you that way too? Will you be able to replicate the happiness that came with his previous lover and his old friends?
"Do you—" Before you knew it, you had already begun to ask yet another question that seemed to bubble up without a second thought. Your lips were dry as you carried on your sentence, "Do you love me too?"
As much as her? More than her? Less than her? Words unspoken.
All you knew was that you craved an answer from him. You didn't want reassurance, you just wanted the truth. But was it hypocrisy if you said that deep down, you were expecting yourself to be more special in his eyes? No, expecting wasn't the right word, it was hoping.
"Yes, I loved her and I love you," Zhongli smiled again, wistful. His voice was loving and his answer was said so clearly — but somehow, it only left you feeling even emptier than before.
You didn't know why, but something was just missing. Unsettled, an uneasy feeling that'd make your stomach churn like realizing that you left the door open or forgot something important at the tip of your tongue.
(Or maybe, you really were a hypocrite, after all.)
─ ⊹ ⊱ ・・・・・・☆・・・・・・・⊰ ⊹ ─
For the past two times, you realized that you had been asking Zhongli the same question, merely presented in different shades. First, it was: "Do you love me?" An innocence that was meant to be a confirmation that your dream to be his finally came true. Second, it was: "Do you love me too?" A question that derived from the insecurity of knowing that he once had a lover who clearly outshone you in every way.
It was only during THE THIRD TIME you asked him that question were you finally able to pinpoint that hidden void in your chest from last time — and it just so happened that this revelation descended as the two of you stood in front of an unnamed grave.
But the bouquet of Glaze Lilies in Zhongli's hands was already telling of whom the place of resting belonged to. The sheer longing in his gaze was a telling indication too, as painful as it was for you to admit.
For these past few days, Zhongli was kind enough to tell you stories about his former lover; of her bright mind, of her delightful demeanor, of her connection to a field of Glaze Lilies in his mind, of her memorable presence in his life. Even in this moment, he invited you to come alongside him to visit her grave, an intimate and precious place that he never disclosed to anyone before. But you knew that he made sure that your comfort was his priority, never speaking or telling too much unless you specifically asked.
"It's growing dark," the sigh that came with his words drifted away to become one with the wind. You assumed if it weren't for the time, the both of you could've lingered for a little bit longer here. Zhongli kneeled on one knee to place the bouquet on top of the grave, you watched silently as a sign of respect. There were a few moments of nostalgic silence as he stood up. He rested his hands on the back of his waist, a little habit of his, and he tore his gaze away from the grave to you.
"I must thank you for accompanying me here today," Zhongli regarded you with a sweet smile but somehow, this smile was much more feeble than usual.
"Before, I was only able to cherish memories of her alone by myself," he stated as he stared into the darkening skies above that was beginning to make way for the moon to shine. But he wanted to look at you in the eyes as he spoke, so the male pivoted aside to face you properly. "You've given me the opportunity to speak of her legacy. I know that this topic might not be the easiest for you to hear, so I just want to thank you. For understanding and for listening." The smile on his face as he spoke was growing wider this time, more earnest.
Words failed you, all you could manage was to return his smile with your own. Zhongli was kind, too kind, really... which only made the guilt upon your shoulders grow heavier, for you had one last question to ask of him.
"Let's go home, dear," he held out a hand towards you, fully expecting you to grab onto it so the two of you can make your journey back to Liyue Harbor — and you did, you grabbed onto his hand but you didn't move from your position.
Your feet were firmly planted on the ground at the very same spot. Your chest felt heavier than any metal bladesmiths could ever hope to get their hands on, but you told yourself multiple things: one, that this question will be the last one and two, that his answer will not change anything between you.
You just needed to know, was all.
"Zhongli," you croaked out his name. His amber eyes crinkled at the corners with concern as he replied, "Yes?" Archons, you couldn't bear the reality that you were the one causing him to feel that way, but you managed to force the words out of your mouth before you put this off any longer.
"...Do you love her most?"
Zhongli froze, just like the very first time you mentioned her name to him that day. His mouth opened then closed again, thinking of the right words to respond. What was happening?
He was always known for his ability to be straightforward and honest. Yes, that was what he'd normally do, but that was one of the concepts about love. Love makes you do strange things, love makes you stray from your usual self before it has yet to course through your veins, love is strange — and for the first time in forever, Zhongli hesitated.
You searched for his eyes for an answer and you couldn't help, but wonder: why was he hesitating now? "Tell me the truth, tell it as it is like how you always do. But if you don't wish to answer, I understand," you squeezed his head reassuringly.
You weren't forceful, you gave him a chance to refuse, but that look in your eyes; just how much you needed to know, just how much you needed an answer. Was this the matter that bothered you all this time? Finally, he was able to figure out why such a forlornly aura had begun following you ever since the day you asked him about her.
He'll do it, he'll give you an answer. Zhongli is never one to lie and this time, he wouldn't either. He repeated your question to himself in his mind: Does he love her the most? And the answer that trickled out of his mouth in a quiet whisper was... "Yes," he said.
Your eyes widened. Not in disappointment, not in expectation, but in disbelief upon finally receiving the answer to the fog that had engulfed you for so long.
"I would cross the ocean for her, I would sacrifice my last breath for her, I would wait a lifetime of solitude for her. Even until now, that has not changed," he murmured.
"I see," you smiled ruefully, but it didn't reach your ears. You weren't able to meet her, but just through witnessing the utter loyalty the man you loved had for her, she must've been as wonderful as he described her to be. Of course, she was his greatest love and that's alright. He had all the rights to love someone that wasn't you, that's alright too. At least, the truth was finally revealed, right? That was all you wanted, right?
Right, [Y/N]?
"Please do not cry."
Zhongli spoke after what felt like an eternity of silence where you were left consumed by your own thoughts. You didn't even notice the tears that were rolling down your cheeks until he pointed it out — the warmth of Zhongli's fingers as he tried to wipe away at the pearly liquids on your face was careful, but that gesture only seemed to bring forward more of them.
He averted his gaze, "It was not my intention to make you cry..." Here came that unfamiliar hesitation again, rendering his tongue into a jumbled mess. But Zhongli decided to push through, there was something he wanted you to know; "I've never lied to you," he said, his voice and gaze were firm.
"When I told you that looking at Silk Flowers reminds me of your gaze and I want to give them to you. When I told you that I loved her and I love you. When I said that I love her the most."
By now, your tears had stopped and the only traces left of them were the drying streaks on your face. The times where you had asked him all those questions came rushing back in an instant as he listed them amidst his musing.
"Those things, they are not lies," Zhongli encased your trembling hand with both of his own, causing your blurry eyes to look at him. "I love you. This is not a lie either," he pressed a kiss to the back of your hand.
You were silent and he could feel the worry swirling inside his chest. It was only several seconds after that your mouth began to move, yet he couldn't make out what you had said. With a frown, the tall brown-haired male leaned closer and only then did he hear the words falling from your lips: "I never doubted that at all," you whispered in between sniffles.
"That wasn't a lie either, in case you're wondering," you chipped in. He chuckled, mused that you used his words against him so quickly, endeared by your very existence before him. But most importantly, his voice was rid of the sadness that he had upon seeing your tear-stricken face prior.
"Let's go home, my love," Zhongli said those words softly, as soft as the way he tucked back a stray strand of your hair that fell from its original position.
You nodded.
It was during that fateful dusk where you learnt that you were not his greatest love and that's alright. It'll take time to fully register itself in your heart and that's alright too.
(After all, he said that he loves you — and Zhongli is anything but a liar. Everything is alright, right?)

Tumblr media
You haven’t seen Zhongli much after the incident in the dining room a few days ago. Even if you bump into him, you doubt he would notice you.
“Madam Y/N?” A maid knocked on the door, and you told her to come in. She bowed as she entered. “Breakfast is ready.”
You nodded, thanking her before following her to the dining room, and to your surprise, Zhongli was there drinking tea.
But he didn’t acknowledge you.
It only took moments before he got up and went to his office, much to your disappointment.
He was so confusing.
Tumblr media
Lately, you’ve been feeling tired even though you were only always lonely and bored in the mansion, and you’ve been feeling nauseous.
If you were pregnant, you were scared about what Zhongli’s reaction would be. He’ll be glad you finally gave him an heir...
But what about you?
You cursed your family for requiring you to be in an arranged marriage. Because now you were in love with a man who won’t love you back.
“Madam, you called for me?” Arya, one of your trusted maids, showed up in front of your room in no time.
“Yes. Can you keep this a secret, please?” When she nodded, you continued. “Buy me a few pregnancy tests.” She was surprised for a moment but nodded in understanding nonetheless.
“Of course, Madam.” She bowed when you thanked her before walking away, and you sighed as you closed the door.
“And if I am pregnant,” You whispered, looking down at your stomach, “What would I name you?” You scoffed, “Or would Rex Lapis name you instead?”
After Arya bought you pregnancy tests, you went to the bathroom to test them and waited for the results, and you were right.
You were pregnant.
You were elated, finally having a child, but you weren’t happy with your marriage.
Sighing, you walked by the window and noticed a letter sitting there. It was unsettling because there wasn’t any sign of who it was from. Slowly, you opened the letter, and you gasped.
‘Now, you shall perish.’ Written in blood.
“Don’t move.”
Your breath hitched when you sensed someone behind you, “W-Who… How—”
“Don’t speak. Just come with me.”
The person covered your mouth with a cloth, and you lost consciousness.
Tumblr media
“What’s up with you these days?”
Xiao’s voice interrupted Zhongli’s thoughts. “…Hm?”
“You’ve been acting… weird.” He crossed his arms. “Is there something wrong?”
“I’d rather not talk about it. It’s not that big of a deal.”
The Yaksha was worried, but he just shrugged it off. “All right. Also, there are still no reports about your superior’s death. We’ve been investigating it for so long…Tch.”
Zhongli sighed, “We just need to try our hardest.”
A few moments later, Ganyu came bursting through the door. “Mr. Zhongli! Madam Y/N is missing! And she has received a suspicious letter… There isn’t any sign of who it’s from!”
“What?” Ganyu gave him the letter, and when he opened it, his eyes widened.
Immediately, he ordered Xiao, Ganyu, and the Millelith — “Find my wife. Now.”
Tumblr media
“I told you to kill her, not bring her here…! Have you fucking lost your mind?!”
“I-I’m sorry… I couldn’t bring myself to!”
You slowly gained consciousness. It took a few seconds to realize your hands were tied up as you lay on the ground of an empty warehouse.
“You’re finally awake.” You recognized that voice, Raiden Shogun!
You looked up at her, glaring. “Zhongli will fucking kill you. He’ll come to find me.” You didn’t know why you said that. It slipped out of your mouth.
But you knew he wouldn’t come to find you.
“Oh? When he does come to find you, he’ll also see the woman he actually loves.”
Your eyebrows furrowed. “W-what?” As if on cue, a woman came up behind Raiden.
Lady Guizhong. Zhongli’s former wife, she’s alive?
She gave you a pitiful look, and you looked back at Raiden, a disturbing smile forming on her face. “She’s not dead. She killed Morax’s superior for her beloved husband to be the leader.”
Oh my God.
You were overwhelmed. It was slowly making sense. Raiden Shogun had probably planned this for so long — Lady Guizhong had killed Zhongli’s superior for Zhongli to be the leader, and Raiden Shogun somehow found out who the killer of his superior was, then used her in her plan.
But what would happen to Lady Guizhong now?
“Didn’t I tell you to count your days, Y/N? I’m gonna get rid of you.” Raiden Shogun pointed her gun at you, and you closed your eyes, your heart pounding so loud that you could almost hear it.
‘I’m sorry, my future child.’
You waited for the gunshot, but then Raiden hummed. “Or what if… Guizhong just kills you instead? Wouldn’t that be so fucked up?” She let out a laugh.
You opened your eyes immediately, and Lady Guizhong shook her head. “N-No please, I can’t—”
“I’m ordering you. Kill your former husband’s current wife.”
Guizhong sobbed as Raiden pushed her gun into her hands, and she looked at you. “I’m sorry.”
Suddenly, you heard gunshots outside the empty warehouse.
“How?!” Raiden Shogun angrily exclaimed, and Guizhong took the opportunity to remove the rope tied up around your wrists as soon as the Millelith crashed into the place, shooting Raiden’s soldiers.
“I left the letter you received in your room on purpose so there was evidence you were kidnapped, and I hoped they could come and save you.” Guizhong flashed a sad smile, “I’m sorry once again.”
“Raiden Shogun. I knew you were suspicious ever since you visited Liyue.”
Zhongli… He came.
He ran towards you but slowly stopped once he saw Guizhong.
“You… You’re alive…?”
Guizhong shook her head, “I’m sorry. Please. Save Y/N and forget about me.” He stared at her in shock.
“Ah, my plan is all ruined!” Raiden Shogun spoke up, holding a tachi in her hand. “Guizhong killed your superior for you to become the new leader, Morax. She deserves to perish, doesn’t she?”
Slash!
And just like that, Guizhong was dead. Zhongli’s breath hitched.
Tears formed in your eyes as you grabbed the gun Guizhong was holding and pointed it at Raiden Shogun. You shot her in the shoulder as she cried out in pain. “You…!”
Zhongli immediately grabbed your hand and pulled you towards the door to escape, but you felt Raiden’s sword slashing your back, making you groan and fall. He looked back furiously to shoot her, but she managed to flee the warehouse.
“Go! I’ll take care of this!” Xiao yelled out as he shot Raiden’s soldiers. Zhongli picked you up, starting to panic when he saw you losing consciousness as he ran out of the warehouse. Ganyu then showed up and helped Zhongli carry you.
“Y/N... Live. Please.”
That was the last thing you heard from him before you passed out.
Tumblr media
You opened your eyes slowly, attempting to get up, but it hurt like hell. “Ow!”
“Finally.” You heard someone say, then saw Zhongli giving you a small smile. “Don’t try to get up yet. You’re still not well.”
You slowly sat up and looked away from him, making him frown.
Didn’t he tell you to fuck off because you aren’t his real wife? Why is he here?
“Um…” You started, “How did you know where I was?”
“You received a threat, right? Then you went missing. I immediately ordered Xiao to do everything he can to find you. The first person who came to mind is Raiden Shogun, who’s been suspicious ever since she visited Liyue. I was right.” He sighed, “And I was scared… You’d be dead as soon as we got there. I’m glad you weren’t.”
You huffed, “Why would you be scared?”
“Because… I love you.” You looked at him, surprised at his sudden confession. “After Guizhong ‘died’, I was scared of falling in love again. That’s why I said those foolish things and started avoiding you because I realized I was falling in love with you. I’m sorry for that.” Zhongli held your hand, “But trust me, I do love you.”
“Really?”
“Yes.” He said, “Fuck the contract. I’m willing to break the contract for you. Only you.”
You swallowed a lump in your throat. “How do I know you’re not lying?”
“I’ll prove it to you. I’ll do anything. Please.” Zhongli — Rex Lapis got on his knees, looking up at you as his hands clasped yours tightly. “I beg of you, believe me when I say I love you.”
Take the risk or lose the chance.
Because even after all the unfortunate events, you still loved him.
You sobbed, pulling him up to his feet and hugging him. “I believe you.”
“We still have a long way to go,” He kissed your forehead, and you saw tears in his eyes as he looked down at your stomach. “We’ll take care of this little one, too.”
“You knew?”
He intertwined his hand with yours. “I saw the test before we came to find you. Thankfully after the incident, our baby is fine. You’re so strong.”
You smiled, and it quickly faltered when you remembered the previous events. “What happened to Raiden Shogun?”
His face suddenly turned serious. “She managed to escape after attacking you, which is unfortunate. Fear not, I made sure you’re completely protected and no one is taking you away from me now. I won’t allow it.”
You laughed. “Noted.”

– LIYUE BOYS REALIZATION ⋆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
–☆ fluff
–☆ including: Zhongli, Baizhu, Xiao, Xingqiu, and Chongyun
🗒: I know this isn't really as good as I want it to be, but I don't really want to re-write this.. this took me forever to finish ρ(・・、)..
Tumblr media
–☆ Zhongli:
Both you and Zhongli have been friends for quite awhile before he realized he was in love with you. You known about his past lover, Guizhong, and had felt bad when he finally opened up to you more in detail about his past.
You weren't sure how you exactly ended up being his close friend. All what you could remember was Zhongli sitting next you while you were having tea and reading a book.
"Do you mind if I sit here? There isn't any seats available."
Looking up from your book, your eyes meet with his golden eyes as you looked him up and down.
"Oh, well I suppose you can."
After you gave your approval of his sitting next you, Zhongli introduced had himself to you as you did the same, and from then on, both of you became close friends.
The moment Zhongli befriended you, he felt more.. comfortable with you, he couldn't really explain it.
"Zhongli? Hello? Earth to Zhongli?"
You waved your hand in front of his face, causing him to break from his trace.
"My apologies, I was.. spaced out."
A giggle escaped your lips. Zhongli's eyes soften and a smile appeared on his lips as he heard you laugh.
His eyes grew wide as realization hit.
There.
Your laugh is what caused him to realize his feelings for you.
Zhongli was in for a ride when he figured it out.
Tumblr media
–☆ Baizhu:
Being Baizhu's assistant was oddly calming for you. He wasn't rude or bossy at all, it made you happy that he wasn't like many bosses in Liyue.
Although Changsheng, is quite sassy with you, but she's grown to be affectionate with you as well. It has taken you awhile to get to this stage with her and not many people have seen her with anyone else, but Baizhu. In fact, no one has, not even Baizhu until now.
"Changsheng, I need to write this person's perspiration–"
The snake tighten her body around your neck, but too tight to choke you. A chuckle left your mouth as you attempted to write the perspiration once again, only causing Changsheng to nuzzle her face to your cheek.
While this was happening, Baizhu was stocking on the medicine that were getting low and was in the city of Liyue.
When he returned and was walking up the stairs, he heard you laughing and being curious as to why you were laughing, he quickened his pace up the stairs.
He found you and Changsheng together and saw how affectionate his snake was being with you. Baizhu never thought that he would see her being this comfortable around someone that isn't him.
A smile was forming on his lips as he watching the two. He was admiring how Changsheng has finally warmed up to you and how she became affectionate. Baizhu felt jealous even, but not too jealous of course. He more jealous of how Changsheng was able to be that close to you.
He felt more happy than anything.
"Baizhu! Hello, sorry that I didn't notice you earlier."
When he heard your voice, he felt his heart beat race quicker.
"No worries, but I see that Changsheng has gotten comfortable with you. She's rarely like that with anyone."
Changsheng was growing tired and yawned, falling asleep on your neck as you nodded and smiled at him.
That was the moment Baizhu realized his love for you and how he wants to be with you.
He was surprised at this, but didn't mind if it was you.
Tumblr media
–☆ Xiao:
Xiao had made a promise to himself to never get attached to anyone. And he kept that promise for many years, until he saw you with the Traveler, helping them to the Wangsu Inn. He beard about the Traveler for being the hero in Mondstadt and so did you, which is why you offered your help to them.
You went over the history of Liyue and how the Lantern Rite was close to appearing there.
When you arrived at the Wangshu Inn, you chatted with Verr Goldet and how they needed Xiao.
After you talked to her and told them what she had told you, you had decided that they can solve everything by themselves from here on.
"Where are you going to go? Why don't you stay with us!"
The Traveler has agreed with Paimon's statement as you looked at them both surprised.
"Really? I don't want to be a bother to you or on your mission."
They both had approved of you joining them on their quest in Liyue, almost like a tour guide for them.
When you all finally meet Xiao and the two Travelers from Mondstadt had to leave, you wished them luck on their journey to find the Traveler's lost sibling and hoped they come back to visit.
After they had left, you had remembered about Xiao and wanted to try to be his friend. Now, it took you a long time for Xiao to actually be more comfortable with you and allowed you to close to him, but it was all worth it to you.
Over the months you and Xiao had spent some quality time together everytime Xiao was free. Verr had allowed you to permanently stay there, as in exchange, you would help throughout the inn when they needed your help.
Most of the time you'll be with him during the night, it was he was the most available for you. You also know how much hard work he does and you wanted to treat him to his favorite dish, almond tofu.
You spent your time into making the dish for him, and when it was finished Xiao had came to you.
"Why are you here instead in our usual spot?"
You turned around to show him your reason for not being there.
"This is why!"
Xiao stood there and looked at the dish then you when he saw what you were holding.
"Is.. that almond tofu?"
"It is! I remembered that you talking about how it was your favorite food, and I know how much you're always fighting off monsters and such, so I wanted to make you this."
He felt his heart pace quicken, you really did listen to him when he talked to you and you remembered what his favorite food was.
His mind was filled with confusion. He cleared his throat before he spoke again.
"Uhm.. thank you."
The moment he knew he broke his own promise that he has kept for years to keep everyone safe from him, was when you made his favorite dish.
Tumblr media
–☆ Xingqiu:
Books had always been Xingqiu's favorite thing to do all the time. He would be so interested that he would lost track of time and wouldn't even notice that he was on the last page of a book until he read the last sentence and tried to flip to the next pme to find it to be finished.
Wanwen Bookhouse is the place where most of his favorite books are, he would always go there when he had free time for it. Normally it would be Jifang that would be managing the place when he would visit, but there was someone else that was there.
Xingqiu wondered who he was and where Jifang was, so he planned that when he figured out which book to get, he would ask him.
So, when he found a book that he was interested in, he went up to him to purchase the book.
"Oh? The Legend of the Shattered Halberd series? I've heard that this is an interesting series."
Xingqiu was slightly taken back that you attempted to make small talk from him.
"It definitely is, I'm quite fond of this series."
You hummed as he gave you Mora for the book then you gave him back his book.
"Where is Jifang? I normally see her here, and who are you if I may ask?"
"Jifang is sick and asked me to take care of the place while she rests for the day. I'm her nephew that she wanted to be her assistant here."
He raised his eyebrows in amusement as he took his book from your hand and said thank you before leaving.
Xingqiu was interested in you, but didn't know how to tlak to you again. He made sure to be finished with his book quickly (Xingqiu already tends to finish his books in 2 days or so), so he can go back again.
He continued to visited the Wanwen Bookhouse a lot more than he usually did, just so he can see you and make conversation with you. It went on for a while until you two eventually became friends.
The two of you would often read books together and have debates about them, or just had some tea together.
Eventually, he figured out that the series he read almost everyday was in the consideration of being discontinued due to the author's age.
Of course he was disappointed at first, but he knew it was going to happen someday. He told you about it and you saw the disappointment in his eyes, so you decided to make him a gift.
It took you some time to finish it, but you thought it was worth it if it made him happy.
You had gave it to him when you guys spent your time together again. He asked about what was in your bag, as you don't usually carry out a bag with you.
"Oh, so uh, you know how your favorite series has the possibility of being discontinued? Well, I had made you my– your own version of it. It took a very long time to make, but–"
Xingqiu immediately took the book and opened it to find it filled with the version that he remembered telling you what he hopes what could happen in the next book.
His face had heated up when he looked at the pages and a smile was starting to appear on his face.
He loved how you put your time into this just for him.
He knew what his feelings were towards you now, he was worried only for a little bit, but he quickly got over it as he realized that it was you that he grew feelings for.
Tumblr media
–☆ Chongyun:
He got another report about someone thinking they had unwanted spirits in their home, so of course goes to their home to excorise the spirit.
It took him about 3 hours just to find out that it has been a cat in the person's home. He was a lottle irritated about this, it was very clear to you. You felt guilty about it and promised to make him lunch everyday until you didn't feel guilty about it.
After 4 months of you making him lunch, you had already gotten over about being guilty, but you enjoyed cooking for someone else for once (malewife/j).
Chongyun had asked you if you still felt guilty about it and said he has forgiven you about it already, you told him your reasoning about why you still cook for him. He was embarrassed about the answer, but he didn't want you to stop making food, he enjoyed your cooking.
You also liked to write little notes when you give him his lunch, sometimes it'll say some words of encouragement or just some questions you had about him being an exorcist in Liyue.
When you were making his lunch, you decided to write a little something more special and decorate his lunch.
Chongyun came by at the usual time and picked up his lunch from you, he went to a place where he could enjoy the view of Liyue.
He opened his lunch to see what you had made and wrote that day.
'Your smile is very pretty, so is your eyes. I always get reminded of snow, or something, everytime I see them. Anyways, I wish you a good day, Chongyun ♡.
– Y/n'
While he kept re-reading the note, he felt his cheeks go red.
He soon enough calmed down, then looked at his lunch to see that you had decorated it to look like popsicles.
He immediately thought how cute it was with your note you put.
"I guess I'm glad that it's you."

Tumblr media
“Paimon votes we visit Xiangling!” the giddy floating fairy cheers, bobbing up and down as her blonde-haired companion nodded in agreement.
Turning her head, her eyes landed upon the silhouette of a brunette man, his attention solely focused on the eccentric storyteller in front of him.
“Eh? Zhongli? What a pleasant surprise meeting you here!” the fairy alludes, companion following alongside as she approached the man.
“Come one, come all, allow me to forward you a special tale for this years Lantern Rite, abundant and glorious as always!” The storyteller speaks, hands motioning the pair in as his eyes begin to glow with pride.
“Listen closely now, for this tale is one you won’t ever hear anywhere else! A speciality for my audience” the man grins, winking sidewise at the blonde traveler, motioning him in for a seat alongside the brunette, who merely nods politely before redirecting his attention.
“Listen closely… for our story begins before the age of war…”
Tumblr media
Dainty gray eyes laid upon his figure. So divine, so prim and proper, fingers grasped gracefully around a stone cup of tea as he conversed with the two ladies.
Morax he went by, god of mora, Archon of Geo. Cloud Retainer, the women with red rimmed glasses. And Guizhong, the refined goddess of dust, so elegantly did she sit, reflecting the man in front of her. His eyes gazed so… Lovingly. She held his undivided attention, lips curling into a saccharine smile irreplaceable by any.
“Y/n? Who do suppose is correct Goddess of the Forge?” she calls. Her voice so tauntingly pristine as her grey eyes shifted towards yours.
“Hm? Ah, forgive me… It seems I was dazed. Could you restate the question?” you call. Your own voice slightly breaking, pitching off into a unsettled tone.
It was so mocking. How her figure was so respected, so desirably faultless. Both in brain and brawn… Your own stained with battle scars, body tainted with the wounds of the steel, whilst hers was untouched, silk smooth, faultless. All the things you weren’t.
“Ah, no worries! I had simply inquired about your opinion on my design. Our dear Cloud Retainer here seems to think hers is superior…” Her eyes are so beautiful…
It wasn’t fair… How you both shared the same hue of gray for eyes. Yet somehow hers shined so much brighter compared to yours, so bleak and dull like iron ore.
“Hm… This design… It needs some tweaks, but I do believe that Cloud Retainer’s design is superior within this field…” you murmur, eyes gazing upon the blueprints that laid out in front of you.
“Is that so? Morax! You are righteous… Who do you believe withholds the superior model?” Guizhong questions.
Righteous?... Was she… Mocking you? Questioning your values? Your judgment?
“Upon inspection… I do believe that your design is superior Guizhong”, his eyes are so thoughtful, filled with the beautiful waterlike goldens and browns. His eyes narrow, concealing his bright colored eyes like the lakes that adorn themself atop the mountains.
Ah… As you inspect closer… It’s true his judgment is impeccable. And yours, at fault.
Guizhong giggles in glee, shiny gray eyes, the ones that were the exact same shade as your own, reflected so much pure light. Like white iron ore… in every way. She was better.
You watch as he smiles, playing along with her child like joy. His eyes bubbling with happiness, spirit so moved by her own.
He never looks at you that way… Perhaps he never will…
Cloud Retainer stands behind you, concealing her worry for your state as she watches your own hues dim down with envy, discouragement that you failed to fully tuck away.
Tumblr media
The day Guizhong was lost. You saw as he retreated away, you saw the scars she left on him. You heard too, the cries he echoed out in the solitude of the mountains.
You watched her soul slowly slip away, body loosening at the lack of character to withhold it. You never knew what it was that plagued you with such sinful cruelty. But… watching her die, perish in front of you, your own body and mind helpless to save her. You could only feel the slightest bit of regret. Regret that you hadn’t saved her.
When you could have.
Instead you watched by the sidelines, watched as he gazed at her so lovingly, mind and body relaxed around her presence, whilst not once, did he ever glance your way.
That night… When the Goddess of Dust had perished, you fled. Fled away to the mortal realm, locked away in an Adepti contraption. War was at brew; you could feel it. You knew of the harm that would come to you when it did, the pain and hopelessness that would plague your mind if ever you were to succumb to the desires of evil divines that would ask for your aid in battle.
Goddess of the Forge.
That was your name. Sealed away in stone.
Tumblr media
“Many blacksmiths and warriors alike pray to the Goddess of the Forge for the finest of ores and the best of the best in the weapons they wield. Many adventures that come from this nation of Geo have commonly shared the goal of searching for where she lays… However, never found she was…” the storyteller murmurs, hand stretching out to flicker his fan as he gazed over it darkly.
“But of course! This is merely a tale! Who knows if this “Goddess of the Forge” really does exist!” He coughs awkwardly, shivering at the intense gaze that was being radiated from the brunette man in front of him.
“Indeed… What a pleasant story sir…” he mumbles, face solemn. Eye's blanking out in a distant sorrow. His mind drifting off into an unknown world.
Tumblr media
A women walks by the station of the storyteller, gray eyes empty and uninviting. She glances at the brunette man, stuck in his own land of thought, as she hides away from view.
It’s been decades. And yet his memory haunts your every waking step. A scar on your body that will never heal yet comes back to haunt you with the acknowledgement of its story. Succumbing you into a void.
It’s so selfish. How all those years ago you could have saved her. You were there weren’t you? Just a couple fields away picking glaze lilies for him, it wasn’t her… Goddess of Dust, that you were thinking about. Not even when she had laid unmoving in front of you and all the others. Not even when the guilt recked your insides knowing you were just a few sprints away from her; could have saved her.
It was him, his milky golden eyes, his proper figure, so collected.
It was never you on his mind, always her. Always Goddess of Dust, always the prettier, shiny, ore. And perhaps it was why you had left, fleeing in agony and regret. It hurt how his eyes were only ever on hers, how they shared fleeting touches, when you were his forever best friend. Always by his side to guide him in battles and spars.
She was everything you could only dream to be...
The night you had left… You had fled to the far breeches of Liyue, residing in a self-inflicted encagement, meant to trap away the deadliest of monsters.
Whether or not he had truly cared for you, shed tears for you, you never were there to see it...
Tumblr media
SPECIAL BREWS... Goddess of the Forge // I found that the irony in reader being the Goddess of the Forge compared to Dust which is a much lighter title compared nicely to her dynamic, I do hope I was able to highlight this aspect well... (Haha get it, irony, forge?...)
White Iron ore // Using this comparison felt very natural and more in depth, I found it easier to be able to relay the emotions of the story to the reader by using a similarity, after all, it's salt to the wound for those who have felt incompetent to someone before
BARISTA'S INQUIREMENT... Would you reader's like if I made a gender neutral and male Y/n version? If so please do ask! Part two will be out soon.

Sumeru historian reader! that has no idea about Zhongli being rex lapis.
Tumblr media
gender neutral reader📜 fluff-📜crack
It had been a while since Zhongli had wanted to court someone that badly.
Other than being oh so lovely to look at, it was hard not to fall for a scholar like you. Sharp and eloquent, a trailblazer of a historian. This made it difficult to figure out a way to approach you... more personally. And recently Rex Lapis had found himself wondering the same thing. To understand how to tread across the line of friendship into something more intimate occupied all of his thoughts.
So when he heard you were taking a class on Rex lapis he was positively gloating.
"I think it's a brilliant idea." He assured you, pressing down a giddy smile. Because if you fell in love with the stories of Morax, half his battle was already won.
It was all he could think of as he sipped his tea today. Anytime now you would be joining him here, bright eyes gleaming with reverence as you spoke of the beloved rex lapis (Or so he hoped).
He knew your love for the dendro archon, he knew you often spoke of her kindness and deep wisdom. Well, in that case, (nothing to brag), but surely Rex lapis possessed those qualities as well. If anything, he was walking history himself. You were sure to find him just as benevolent.
Ah, Zhongli thought, he would take such pleasure in seeing your smile as you spoke of him with the same love. Maybe it was childish of him to feel that jittery over it, but he tried to remain nonchalant.
With lunch time approaching, more people flocked into the tea shop and Zhongli swiftly placed an order for a adeptus temptation. That way it would be hot when you arrived.
As if on cue, your voice called out to him. Zhongli straightened at that sound. Your excited figure made its way to his table, he noticed that you carried reading supplies from your class. He read a few titles off the bat, The oldest adepti, The Lord of commerce, The archon king. He brightened up at once, you had read the best of the literature on him. Pleased, he decided to probe it out of you.
"I see you have come from your seminar." He said, easing into his seat.
"I am curious as to how you view the Lord of Geo now." he completed, a small smile slipping on his lips as he waited for what was next to come.
Most historians he encountered echoed the same thought- awe and respect for the geo archon. After all, the literature painted him as iron-fisted yet just, compassionate yet feared, a revered patron of art and a warrior-
"He's just a glorified thug." You grumbled, sitting down beside him.
Zhongli's jaw slacked, the knowing smile stuck halfway on his face froze as he stared at you, more than a little bewildered at your lack of reverence. well, this was... new.
"I'm telling you Xiangsheng, if it wasn't for Guizhong, he would have remained unruly and stupid." You continued, " I don't know why they hail him like some Nobel dude, when he was basically a tyrant for most of his life."
Zhongli smiled queasily, "Dear, historical texts are often subject to the interpretation of historians." He tried to explain, "D-did you not read any literature on him? surely that couldn't have been as bad.."
You just shook your head, pointing the fork at him and making him gulp. Although the action was just to emphasise your point, to the consultant it felt like an accusatory needle being pointed at him. "Lieuyan records and fiction tend to blur over each other, I can't help but feel that he was just some rock headed idiot that is painted as someone cultured."
You stuffed another mouthful of the stir fry, "And after all-" You continued, "what kind of Archon is scared of seafood?"
Zhongli bit back his tongue, He fumbled with the tea cup, grappling at ways to try and win you over, "Well.. that's not exactly how the events unfolded..."
"They are all secondary texts after all, Rex Lapis never really wrote any autobiographical texts himself." Zhongli tried, feeling a little like he was strapped to a mast of a sinking ship.
"That only proves that he was never sophesticated to begin with." You huffed back, Zhongli choked back a cough.
You shrugged, not wanting to waste precious time with Zhongli on talking about Rex Lapis, "I think the people of liueye view him through rose coloured glasses, I'm sure he was some traditionalist in provocative clothing that went about screaming sacrilege for anything new."
"- well that is subject to - wait- I beg your pardon, P-provocative clothing?" Zhongli yelped out in the end, embarrassment creeping up his neck.
"Just look at him!" you said, "Torso out, barely clothed, even his posture seems rather vulguar, purely in comparison to the other Archon statue's..."
You rested your chin against your palm, "Hm, i wonder if he's seen as an erotic figure, his iconography surely hints at that."
You looked up to see Zhongli looking absolutely horrified. He buried his face in his hands, "T-that's just preposterous."
"Is that so?" You replied casually, surprised that the Zhongli you knew didn't have much to add on the topic. "Because the poem by Bai Qiyue, mentions that he had a harem of at least a thousand beautiful women and fathered-"
You yelped as Zhongli spit out his tea.
He coughed as you scampered to hand him a handkerchief. "Xiangsheng! are you alright?" You asked, and Zhongli waved his hand dismissively,
" E-even if- " He coughed out, "Even if Rex lapis did have an...erm... colorful past, I'm sure was never some philanderer with a harem of a thousand."
"Oh." You mimed out, not understanding why Zhongli was the one suddenly acting flustered. It wasn't like you were dissing him. Of course, if the man you looked up to was still iffy, you just had to go further to drive the point home.
"Then there's the ambiguity around his death." You contented, shaking your head, "The records are awfully scripted, in spite of being recent. If lieuyan scholars weren't so moony eyed about their archon, they might have actually noticed how skeptical the whole thing is!"
Your eyes narrowed, too caught up in your conspiracy theory, "To die so easily... I can't help but wonder if Morax was truly that weak of an archon, or if it all was.." Your voice trailed away
"Or?" Zhongli asked curiously, his amber-gold eyes held your gaze. In that moment you lost your train of thought, a little enchanted with how warmly his eyes sized you. It often happened when your eyes met, you would notice how his iris was pure molten gold, like the late sun on the dunes. You hummed out a sigh, pushing the skepticism away, If there was a god of wealth, he should look like that, you thought.
"Doesn't matter." You replied, tossing your hair back, "In the end I am a historian, not some fanatic that should go off on mere theories."
Zhongli chuckled, "Very well." He replied, realising quickly that he would have to court you as Zhongli. Maybe then, when he did reveal his identity, Rex lapis would be treated more kindly.

Would that mean Ajax has an unusually vested interest in the other nations after everything in Liyue is sorted? Like- keeping an eye on the Gunnhilder clan, or the Ragvindr’s? Would he have a vested interest in seeing the Dawn Winery form and thrive? Would he keep an eye out for news from Inazuma about the Kamisatos, Kaedehara clan, and how the Yokai are doing? There’s a lot of funky things Ajax could be tracking and or meddling with and I love that for him
oh absolutely. ajax would find a way to build himself a little news chain just to keep up on Blorbo Release Dates and accidentally install the greatest intelligence gathering network in teyvat
and like- nobody would realize at first since it'd happen so slowly, but by one point some couple of centuries down the line guizhong would be like- sorry, how do you know this? and ajax would just cassually drop that ah yes [instert someone's name here] told him and guizhong and morax would sit there like. who- who's that and ajax would drop the whole oh y'know i made some friends, i got some people to pass me some info back, usual stuff and guizhong would stare bc ajax is just casually revealing he has created a both open-secret yet completely unknown network of entirely random individuals who just- pass gossip along, and it all eventually goes back to ajax. most of that network is made up of volchiy travelers who pick up info on the coasts and directly report back to him.

The world had been silent since you died. The god of war was accustomed to loss, but none had worn on him so heavily but yours. Of course, you weren't his only acquaintance, but the uncertainty of your well-being weighed heavily on him. The others were lost to the winds, their memories infused into fields of lilies and violent sunrises, all of which he observes with a detached melancholy.
To protect yourself after sustaining an almost fatal blow, you'd employed a tactic Morax himself had taught you—a tactic that had a 50 per cent success rate, a tactic for a worst-case scenario, a tactic shared with you because he couldn't bear the thought of you leaving him forever. If he'd have known that he'd be here now, seated beside your lifeless body, quietly begging someone, something, to save you, his friend, his companion, his… It doesn't matter now.
He wouldn't indulge himself in such thoughts. It was selfish. You'd tried to protect yourself for his sake, and here he was, wishing that you'd died so he would have had the chance to find your reincarnated soul in the faces of those in the harbour. You'd sworn you'd always be with him, regardless of the circumstances, irrespective of the fact that you loved him and he didn't–couldn't ever know. You'd watch him from a distance, how he brought smiles to people's faces and how the people of Liyue worshipped the ground he walked on. What would he want with you? The forgotten kin of a well-known adeptus—adept at nothing much but fading into the mist. What could you offer him that thousands of being on Teyvat couldn't?
"If I'm the reason why you aren't returning," Morax says softly, his voice permeating the silence of the cave he hides you in. "Please rest assured that I expect nothing of you upon your return. Simply focus on yourself. That's all I ask."
As long as he knew you were alive, Morax would accept being apart from you. But until he was aware of your recovery, he'd keep visiting.
And so he did.
Millenia go by before there's even a slight change in your appearance. He visits you at the end of every era he finds himself in—the end of the archon war, Liyue's sudden economic boost, his 'death' at the hands of the Fatui… He keeps you up to speed on it all. Of course, if you want to survive in this world once you awaken, you have to know what's going on, do you not?
This time, when he sits beside you to tell you about how Liyue no longer has an archon and the new life he hopes to pursue, his heart swells with hope. In the dim light of the almost freezing cave, Morax is almost convinced that he spies the condensation of your breath in the air. But simultaneously, the years of hoping and praying for your return have hardened his heart to hope. It's a selfish emotion, one he should know better than to entertain. But though there's a voice in the back of his head, telling him that he's hoping and praying and waiting for nothing, it's you he's waiting for. The one who always made him laugh, listened to him as he mused aloud about the wonders of Teyvat, and helped him mediate arguments between Cloud Retainer and Guizhong. He can't let you go.
"Change is constant in this world," He says to you, noting the slight colour in your cheeks and the flicker of your eyelids. "But I will continue to wait for you, to cultivate your memory such that nothing can dull its shine."
It was a promise to a friend, a declaration of love, an acceptance of defeat. He strokes your hair lightly, an intimate gesture he always longed for when you were alive, one he indulges himself in, in case it wakes you up. And the contact shocks you. You can feel it and hear him, but you can't reach out. You can't hold him in your arms and tell him that it's okay, that you loved him then, and you love him now, and nothing he could ever say or do could ever change that.
But you never had the will to do so when you were awake, and now, as you cling onto his voice to drag yourself back into reality, your resolve is too much for your body to bear, and you explode into fine mist, impossible to catch or hold, or trap. Morax realises that, and though his heart disappeared with you, he accepts his fate—forever longing for a being he might never see again.
Finding yourself in Liyue after the years passed is nothing short of a learning curve. You learn early on that Morax was killed by the Fatui in an act of cold cruelty, a discovery that leaves you fuelled with rage. But casting your mind back to past conversations with Morax himself reminds you of a hypothetical game you and Guizhong used to play with him to pass the hours. Morax always had a fascination with the idea of faking his demise if it was what was necessary for Liyue's survival. Or course, that kind of morbid practicality makes Morax who he is, and you struggle to believe that he'd leave Liyue without a fight. He'd waited millennia for your return, but you're supposed to believe that he'd abandon his nation without so much as a second thought? Impossible.
So you set to finding him. Regardless of what form he's taken on or the lies he's employed to stay under the radar, you will find him. It starts with assimilating into Liyue's society, working hard to establish yourself as an upstanding member of the harbour, always found helping with a smile on your face. You'd smile innocently when asked what you charged for your help and services. "I'm something of a history buff," you'd say. "I'm researching Morax's death—undoubtedly this is an important date in the history of Liyue and i'd like to hear more about it from those who experienced it."
Of course, locals were more than happy to help—to share stories of their valiant archon, who left too soon, but left his nation in such good stead for the future. Most, if not all, the leads you were given were dead ends, an impressive mix of decorated truths and half lies. That was, until a passing traveller mentioned a certain Zhongli of the Wangsheng funeral parlour. According to them, he was the man for any kind of Liyuean history, regardless of the era.
You wasted no time hurrying to the funeral parlour with newfound hope. Would this Zhongli know where Morax is? Would he know of you, Guizhong or any other Adepti that were lost to the brutality of the war? Or would he send you away, accusing you of insanity or espionage?
You didn't know, and frankly, you didn't care. When you arrive at the parlour, you're met by a young woman who greets you with a melancholy smile. "How may I help you?"
"I was hoping to speak with a Mr Zhongli? If that's possible, that is."
The woman's expression changes, relaxing from its state of melancholy. "Of course. I can get him for you. Feel free to take a seat."
The seconds seem to drag by as you sit and wait for this man to arrive. Is this yet another dead end? Your mind begins to wander before the woman returns, asking you to follow her to his office. She seems slightly surprised by the words coming out of her mouth—admitting that this isn't something the man often does. The walk to his office is almost stifling. You're silent, your heart pounding helplessly in your chest as you walk.
The woman opens a heavy mahogany door, smiling encouragingly at you as you walk in.
The man before you nods at the woman before turning his attention to you, and you're surprised by his reaction. Years of analysing Morax's stoic face have taught you to pick up on micro reactions like the one Zhongli displays as he looks at you.
His eyes soften as he stands up, bracing himself on the desk as he rises. "I'm afraid I didn't catch your name," he says slowly. You tell him your name, and he chuckles lightly to himself. Of course, you'd find him. Or course you would. You look the same as the day you fell asleep, your eyes wide and excited, a gentle smile playing on your lips despite the absurdity of the situation you find yourself in. He extends his hand to you, and you shake it firmly, muttering the necessary pleasantries.
Zhongli can't believe it. You're real, not a figment of his desperate imagination. You're real, and perfect, and standing right in front of him on your own two feet. Do you know who he is? Is this some cruel joke Celestia is playing on him as punishment for going through with the Fatui's plan? His eyes are familiar to you—they shine with gold as you stare at him, your mind trying to grasp where you remember him from.
"How can I help you?" Zhongli asks. He can't bear to look away from you, the one he's loved since before he could quantify the feeling. The one who listened to him with such care and kindness. The one who made the millennia of duties and solitude worth it. It's you. You've returned to him. And regardless of whether you remember him or not, he swears that he'll express his love for you. He won't make the same mistake twice.

|| YANDERE GENSHIN IMPACT [ COLLEGE AU ] [ PART FOUR / FOUR ]
"Why must there exist a world where suffering is the norm ? Why must there be a high possibility of losing your loved ones by the hands of others ?"
"Stay with me, my beloved, as we continue our routines together, forever.. And ever.. And ever"
[ Characters mentioned : Venti, Zhong li, Ningguang, Yae Miko, Raiden Ei, Beidou ]
[ Fourth year ]
Venti! He is definitely one memorable student council member, but to be honest, all of them are, he's just another one with a fun personality to light up the mood, perfect for any type of occasion.
However, he keeps talking about wine, it is unbearable, while he still hasn't drank a drop, assuming that fourth year college students are nineteen years old, he has always fantasised drinking one, saying that it must taste like heaven and it is concerning if you look at it as a whole.
On various occasions, he would whine and grip the sleeves on your shirt or your shirt in general if you have no sleeves just to hear you sing, you would think that he will give up, but oh no, you're terribly wrong, the guy is patient, and will use every trick in the book to get his way.
He is very lively, always cracking a joke or singing a song, but ever since like.. A month went by after you had met him his songs and poems took a turn to the romance section as he sang about a lovely individual. It's quite sweet now that you think about it, however some parts were oddly familiar, as if taken inspiration from you.
His hair keeps swaying by the wind as he jokingly calls you his, he loves cracking up a joke or two, so why wouldn't he joke about that? Haha, but it's quite weird, don't you think?
He absolutely adores your expressions when he gives you lots of stuff, it is adorable how your face morphs into shock, then gratitude, makes the whole entire thing even more worth it, and not to mention, he also likes to tutor you, sweet!
Mornings and nights pass, he just couldn't stop thinking about a certain someone, even bold enough to talk about them to that person, but does he mind, why, of course he doesn't, why would he be ever embarrassed for something so natural?
Don't get me wrong, he might be lively and just a ray of sunshine overall, but he is still quite cruel when he wants to be, because why would you ever need them? You've got him, and that is what matters.
[ Fourth year ]
Zhongli.. Now he's an interesting one.
It was already clear from the start that he isn't quite interested in romance, and in the start, you had no idea as to why, that is until you questioned the empty role in the Student Council, Guizhong, the now deceased Historian of the Student Council.
It seems as though there is a barrier that surrounds him that forbids anybody to become that close with him, all the while being an absolute gentleman.
He however, like Jean, isn't always available at any time, of course, he has his own duties as the Adviser, and it is quite a shame, as Venti had dramatically stated.
But that doesn't stop him from trying to at least be more comfortable with you and making you feel welcome, after all, a transfer should always feel welcome in this prestigious college, it would be embarrassing to make you feel unwelcome here, correct?
Though it all turned a bit more personal when you had mentioned the now deceased Historian, and while he didn't mind describing her in such a detail in a positive way, you can't help but feel a little bit guilty for him sharing such a heartbreaking story.
He's such a lonely student, and any interactions, as long as it's not negative, is greatly appreciated, so you tend to stay with him in the Student Council room to keep him from all of those negative thoughts swirling in his mind whenever he's alone, but in doing so you are adding more fuel to the already raging fire which is his obsession.
He offers a lot of tea, always calm and collected as he sits inside the Student Council room to do whatever duties he has, also great with words, it's like he knows everybody in this very school like the back of his hand, his memory is exceptional, definitely something that you wish to have so you wouldn't have to worry about not remembering something when an exam comes up.
Speaking of memory, since his memory is so good he  remembers a lot of every detail that you wish to share about yourself, be it your likes.. Dislikes.. Home address?
Wait no, you didn't share that.
[ Fourth year ]
Mischievous and one of the most unpredictable student there is in this school that you're currently learning in, Yae Miko, while she may be deceptive and cunning, she's also surprisingly similar to Lisa, in a way, afterall, she pretty much calls you terms of endearment.
As swift as a fox, she's quick to steal you away everytime, no matter where you are.
As sly as a fox, you just can't understand her schemes, let alone be able to know that she's using deception, she's just that good, at least the others who use deception were kind enough to make you understand it, but while that's rare, you're kind of getting it, so while you could understand a few of it, it really only lead to more questions.
As stealthy as a fox, she suddenly keeps coming out of places you never thought she'd fit in, you promised yourself that you'll keep an eye out for the colour pink or better yet, Yae Miko herself to avoid getting jump scared by the female, but you just can't see her until it is too late.
Good thing you have Ei to keep her in check.
Yae Miko guilt trips you, a lot. Which surprises you because you didn't know that the pink haired female would resort to such tactics just to spend time with you, but the others have guilt tripped you into staying with them for much longer, so yes, it is suspicious, and you've become more immune to this 'guilt trip [Name] trend'.
You just wish that they will soon stop, you have other matters to deal with, like making sure you don't fail at this one exam coming up.
You sometimes wonder how long Yae Miko is going to keep up with the whole 'friend' thing when it's so obvious that she's only staying with you since she likes you, however you figure that the word 'like' is an understatement.
Sometimes, she even invites you in to help her with giving her ideas for a novel that she's writing, a novel that she told you that she wouldn't publish.
A shame, the writing was good, it was also a romance between a female and a gender neutral individual, however, you're starting to think that they're not just fictional characters from the start..
[ Fourth year ]
Ningguang is as lovely as one can be, she owns various things, she could own somebody, but she chooses not to, that's against her moral code, for she strives to be perfect in various things, similar to how her Jade Chamber was carefully crafted.
She started off small, but with the amount of determination she has she never gave up, she saw herself in you, always willing to give it all for your one and only wish, something that she doesn't know.
She doesn't mind any type of food as long as it gives her an adequate amount of energy and nutrition, so she doesn't mind if you mess up in your little practice, if anything, she'll help you, which is actually helpful by the way, you wonder where she found the time and knowledge.
She is delicate with all of her items, even more so with you, you could only chuckle when she says something like 'i might harm you, i don't want that', because why would she, anyway? You trust her a lot, and she's your friend, right? FriendfriendfriendfriendfriendfriendfriendfriendFRIENDFRIENDFRIEND, you see her as your friend? Why not something more..?
She would always make you brush things off as a mere coincidence that you keep seeing her at malls, often volunteering to pay for the things you buy, sweet!
She loves to spoil you, often bringing you gifts and whatnot, there are a lot of things that you wonder about her, one of those being how she was able to know what you liked.
But she does have connections, you probably forgot that you've mentioned it in one of your conversations with each other.
But how did this start for Ningguang? Why did this start? When did this start, and all of those questions keep appearing in her mind, but she has answers.
You remind her of herself when she was younger, so determined to achieve your goals even when others are.. Less enthusiastic about it.
She's like Diluc in a way, she will do everything in her power, which is a lot, to protect you.
Isn't that sweet?
[ Fourth year ]
Unlike her sister, Ei is an absolute sweetheart, she isn't similar to Scaramouche which is great because a little cool off from her youngest brother was a pain, that arrogant guy who thinks he's greater than a human being kept ordering you around, she basically has Shogun and Scaramouche in a leash when you're around.
She often asks you to stay longer with her than you should, sometimes she makes you forget about the fleeting time until you realise that you have to be home.
It's surprising how she knows a lot about making puppets and whatnot, that is until you realise that The Shogun wasn't a human, she just laughs it off, something that was rare, and stays silent.
She should've been bored when she gazed at random locations that she could see, but her patience is that of a god, and she is able to sit there for hours on end.
But! She's a good listener like the others, you could ramble about the same thing for an entire day and she wouldn't be bored, and that's just Ei, but then what about Zhongli? Make that even longer.
She surprised you, a lot actually, when you found out that she loved sweets, practically almost everything with a hint of sweetness she will try.
But after a while, even if she would ask and ask again, you've learned not to bring her to kitchens, unless you want it burned to crisp that is.
But it's a good thing that she listens to you, because god knows what would've happened if you chose to actually give her another chance, last time the view wasn't pretty.
If your hair is long enough, she could help you braid it, you would want that, right?
Right?
[ Fourth year ]
Beidou is a confident student in the college that you're in with a huge reputation, she's outgoing, and pretty much one of your cheerleaders when you're feeling down, she's got a whole lot of stories to share when she gets the chance, patting your back while drinking juice and sharing her entire life story, keeps you up when you're down.
She's similar to Zhongli with her long stories, but honestly a bit more aggressive.
She knows she's intimidating, and she isn't afraid to use that, and she's confident enough to do it in front of you, lookin' all joyous and happy while she looked at whoever bothered you two with a smile.
"Sorry, but they're taken."
She words it out like you two are in a relationship and you two really aren't, but even if you'd ask them to stay, they'd always run away with their tails between their legs, which is a bummer if you ask me.
She also asks you to join her while she sails when there's a chance, the two of you bond together a lot that way, however she keeps you.. Well, you don't want to hate but she makes you feel isolated.
But she's caring and all, and even then, you feel a bit protected, even if she's a walking red flag like the others, but she's not aggressive with everybody, no! That wouldn't be the Beidou that you know, and you will avoid her, and she knows that too.

Hiii! I saw your request is open so I have a few requests.
I was wondering if you could do genshin men arguing with their s/o who is a sweetheart? But one day, they had a fight about smth and their s/o just snapped.
I wanted them to like suddenly stopped talking and just death glare at them before walking to their shared room.
I actually want to know what their reaction be and what they do! I don't mind how many but I would love to see Xiao / Zhongli/ Scaramouche (if you do him too) !
Tumblr media
— the story of us (looks a lot like a tragedy now).
;; the genshin boys get into an argument with their sweetest lover, yet, the “sweetest” has seemed to turn into something else.
:: preview: guizhong being zhongli’s past lover, and he isn’t moving on yet(aguyy), and xiao not being understandable of your situation.
“xiao, please! we could work this out together if you’d listen and understand me!” your sweet voice began to crack, and xiao is raising an eyebrow at you. the thing that happened was; xiao was pretty much away the past few weeks in which it has left you wandering around and helping people around, especially in the places where he could’ve been. one late night, he finally decided to come back in your shared home, which brings us back to where we were. “if you weren’t away these past few weeks i wouldn’t have been overworking myself in the midst of you being gone! there isn’t anything else i could do than help everyone around when you’re gone! it’s what i do!” you tried to explain, “and yet you’re still mad about why i keep working while you’re away? xiao, you need to know that if you weren’t gone i wouldn’t be so tired!” you sighed, “y/n, i hate how you work around for everybody, can’t you just rest?! i’m here guarding everyone- including you, so that everyone is safe and they’re able to feel safe, and yet when i tell you that you rest when i’m away, you work!” he started to shout at you loudly, and he stood there with his fists bolded up, “i work for us, xiao! you wouldn’t understand since you walk away all the time and now you barely have any time for me! i’ve been doing my best to keep us alive, and now your blaming it on me since i want us to live a nice life?! xiao, this is nonsense you’re bringing up. and i don’t want you to blame me into the wrong situations you’ve caused, and i don’t want to hear anything- anymore!” you began to splurt out words that was in your head, it was supposed to remain in your head and not out your mouth, and now tears started to spill down your eyes as you turned away from him, xiao had never seen this side of you so clearly and privately, and he began to think, and his thoughts were circling in his head, thinking about what you and him would’ve been doing if this stupid argument that the two of you had weren’t happening. your feet began to tap on the floor as you headed to your shared bedroom, catching his attention, right before one step into the bedroom, you gave him a piercing glare of knives stabbed through his heart. you then went inside the room, laying down on your side of the bed, unable to face xiao’s side of the bed, thinking of what he’s doing right now, and the answer was; he was walking around the living room, thinking of how to apologize, muttering out words that he thought to say. a few minutes have passed, and now you’re sitting on the bed looking at your photo album with xiao. you smiled softly, looking at the memories that the two of you had. you then heard the doorknob open, a figure walked over to your seat, and xiao was looking at the ground, attempting to atleast let out a word. “..y/n.” was that all he could say? your name? “…xiao..?” you turned your head to him, fiddling with your hands. “i.. i apologize. for the way i have acted. i didn’t understand your situation when we talked, and.. and it was stupid that i blamed you so bluntly without understanding your current struggles about us.” he began to raise his head up to you, smiling slightly, you could see his eyes get glossy, the moment his eyes saw yours. “and… i am also sorry for being absent and not being able to spend time with you… it was my fault. i apologize-" his sigh was cut out by you hugging him tightly, burying your face into his neck as you bursted into tears. his eyes widen, and yet his senses has made him hug you back, rubbing your back. “xiao… i- i’m so sorry!” your voice was muffled slightly by your head buried into his neck, “i’m so sorry that i snapped- i wasn’t really thinking- and the words that came from my mouth… i-i’m so sorry!” you hugged him tighter, sobbing onto his neck. “no… y/n.. it wasn’t your fault that you explained your struggles when i didn’t understand. it’s fine, y/n..” he said, whispering softly as he rubbed your back soothingly. xiao then kissed your forehead lightly and shushed you to sleep, calming you down.
Tumblr media
zhongli was never really judging of you, still yet, you’ve never seemed to pass a day without him mentioning guizhong. his friend that died from the archon war, maybe even more than just a friend of his. — the day started ordinary like every day off of his, waking up with him, his messy hair all over the pillows and some on his hair, you fixing his long hair and tucking them behind his ear making you smile sleepily, seeing his face clearly in the early morning. “ah, guizhong used to do that when the winds would blow against us whilst we sat on a peak.” he smiled softly, caressing your face, although he mentioned guizhong, you couldn’t help but not mind it. his touch was soothing as always.. in the afternoon, you read some books to zhongli as his head layed on your lap, as he requested. “gui..” his voice started to fade, “y/n, dearest?” he smiled, staring into your eyes. your smile faded slightly, hearing the first syllable of… her name, again. “yes, love?” you responded. “i love you, guizho- ahem… y/n.” again? not only has he been testing you but it’s the nth time he’s mentioned (or atleast he’s tried to) guizhongs name. you chuckled, “i need to get something from the bedroom. you can rest on the couch.” you lifted zhongli’s head up your lap and placed it on the cushions on the couch. you headed to your shared room with him, and started to lay down on the bed. guizhong, guizhong, guizhong. that was all you could think of, did zhongli date you because he loves you for you, or did he love you for… your resemblance to her? your thoughts started to swirl again, guizhong, guizhong is the one he loves, not you, not you. guilt, doubt, worry, sadness and all sorts of emotions swirled inside, and it was unbearable, so unbearable. but no- not this time, he’s still waiting for you on the couch, you grabbed a hairbrush, to make up the image that you got the “thing” you wanted to grab from the bedroom. you went back to the living room. he was sitting on the couch, reading the unfinished part of the book you read to him. “ah, dearest.” he looked up from the book and saw you walking over to him slowly, “i suppose you’ve found what you needed? it took you quite a long time.” he set down the book on the nearest corner table, “yeah, it was hard to find it.” you brushed a few parts of your hair and placed it on the corner table and sat beside him, cuddling closer to him. “guizhong, my dearest.” you heared him whisper, making you pull away and bold your fist. “love? is something wrong?” zhongli tilted his head in visible confusion, “i’m not her.” you sighed, “y/n, dearest, what are you saying?” he chuckled in a joking way, thinking that you were joking. “i will never be her.. never.” you looked up at his expression of confusion with glossy eyes, tears were about to fall. “zhongli.. understand that… i am not her… and that i… will never be her..” the more you spoke, the more your voice trembled, and droplets of your tears started to wet the fabric on the couch. “no, love… i love you for you..” he tucked your hair behind your ear. “no! no you don’t!” you pushed him away and stood up from the couch. “you only love me and dated me because i am just like guizhong, and archons, am i tired of hearing her name every single time we’re together! i can’t even pass a day without having to hear her name from your voice again!” his hand started to reach out to you as he looked up your figure standing over him. “don’t even touch me,” you backed away and crossed your arms over your chest. “go back to her for all i fucking care!” zhongli’s eyes had widened, he’s never seen this side of you this mad, he knows that you’d usually be forgiving, just like how he mentioned guizhong’s name everytime! he stood up from the couch and standed facing your face flooded with flowing tears, his heart overflowed and overwhelmed with emotions of regret. you began to walk away and into your shared bedroom, you sat on the bed and started to hug your knees to your chest and let your tears flow freely from your eyes. minutes have passed and now you’re laying on your side.
you were hugging a pillow and burying your face into it. sniffling softly and hugging the pillow tighter and tighter. you heard a soft knock on the door, “love..? are.. are you alright? may i come in?” zhongli placed his hand on the doorknob, he didn’t hear you, but he opened the door in worry, guilt and regret. “what do you want?” your voice was still muffled by the pillow you were hugging, “i apologize, my dearest.” he sat beside your figure and placed a hand lightly on your head, “it’s no use, zhongli.” you whispered, hugging the pillow tightly. “i know i have done things wrong, my dear.” he sighed, “and i know that i shouldn’t have treated you like you were some reincarnation of her.” he began to stroke your hair slowly, “you are not her, y/n. you will never be her.” zhongli’s voice became softer, and… sweeter. “guizhong is the past. you, y/n, my dearest.. you are my present, you are my future, and you are my forever.” he began to carry your figure and held you close to his. “don’t ever forget that.” he kissed your forehead, “i apologize again, dear.” he kissed your lips softly, raising your head to his face. “hey… don’t kiss me yet.” you giggled with a soft voice, “my face is still wet from crying.” he chuckled and still kissed your forehead. “..hey, zhongli?” you leaned against his chest, and he responded with a small hum. “we’ll be okay, right..?” a small amount of worry was in your voice. “we’ll be fine, just as long as we’re together.”

sʏᴘɴᴏsɪs : In which adeptus a like each other gather together once in a while.
ᴄʀᴜᴇʟ ғᴀᴛᴇ: ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 1
Tumblr media
ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢ: spoilers for lantern rite event, mentions of pings adeptus name. spoiler for zhongli's story quest a bit.
ᴛᴀɢ: morax x reader, guizhong x ping implied, thirdwheel cloud retainer
Tumblr media
Laughter could be heard around Mt. Aozang. As streetward rambler and guizhong argued. "You too one day will see, ping, how marvelous these humans are what one human can achieve is beyond us God's and or Adepti expect" spoke Guizhong as she marvelled about humans and their beautiful complex spirits.
A sigh left Streetward rambler's lips. She did not understand Guizhong. As she looked at her eyes, talking about the humans with much fondness. A giggle left [Name]'s lips. The God of Salt is also known as Havria, a name that her people called her, but, to her friends she was [name]. A gentle God people say.
"You two act like you are always having a lovers quarrel" a pink blemished adorned guizhong cheeks. "Hmph! You are one to talk [name]. One notices you giving a certain someone a look of admiration not the friendly type" Cloud retainer spoke suddenly with a smirking face rested on her face. Guizhong nodded thinking Cloud Retainer had defended her. "One did not defend you, as [name] had spoken the truth" spoke once more.
"Cloud Retainer! I thought u were on my side!!" Guizhong said with a joking tone of anger. "But you didn't deny my statement though" [name] gives guizhong and streetward rambler an eye brow raise. As laughter once again filled the air. It was peaceful. "What are you all discussing, as it seems to be of interest to cause such laughter?" Morax has said arriving out of nowhere.
A shreek had left [name]'s lips from the sudden voice that came from right next to her. 'When did he arrive?'. An airy laugh left Morax's mouth. "My dear friend [name] your face says it all "When did he arrive?" Is what you are thinking?"
"Since when did you read minds, Morax? You are already as silent as the night and now you read minds. Your talent is beyond the Celestial Gods." [Name] speaks with sarcasm and casualness in her voice. "You praise me too much, Dear [name]" Morax says as he bends down to be at eye level with [name] who was sitting down.
"Hmph! Look at them flirting in one's presence, and then insist that they are just friends" Yet Cloud Retainer's voice was ignored as Streetward rambler and Guizhong had continued arguing as [Name] and Morax continue to praise each other. As an irk formed on Cloud Retainer's head, and transformed to her bird form and had flown off. "One's presence is not appreciated here, hmph! and here I thought this gathering would be different"

Tumblr media
Something told me it was over.
You look out the window your heart hurting
When I saw you and her talking
You watch as Zhongli talks with the ash-haired girl her grey eyes peering up at him in lust, his eyes reflecting like a mirror
Something deep down in my soul said ‘Cry Girl’
You sigh as the two of them walk away “And right in front of my work too.” you huff stabbing the needle particularly hard through the fabric, you suspected for a while he found someone better someone who looks exactly like her you put the needle down after poking your finger an angry growl escaping your lips, you cusp you face in your hands
You would never blame Guizhong for holding his heart, you’d never hate her but you sure as hell are beginning to hate him. Your fists pull on your hair “I thought you said you’d be truthful to me baby” you whimper.
Once a liar always a liar even if he was a god.
When I saw you and that girl, walking out
“Darling ho-”
“Save it” you brush past him and into your bedroom. He follows you “Have I done something to upset you?” Zhongli touches your shoulder “Get your grimy hands off me!” you shout suddenly keeping your face away from him as the first tear falls “You don’t deserve me” is all you say, you pick up a bag, and begin filling it with clothes. You don’t look at him once but you know he is crying “I’m sorry” he whispers “You don’t get to say sorry Zhongli” You push past him and grab your coat “I’ll grab my stuff on a later date” and the sound of the door slamming rings through his ears. He falls to his knees but won’t go after you that's the least he could do to help you.
You came back for your items leaving everything he gifted you. He watches from the couch an empty bottle of osmanthus wine on the table, his eyes red and raw from crying he wishes he would find the courage to beg you to stay but he knows it’s too late. You make sure to rub salt in the wound by placing your engagement ring in front of him on the table, the beautiful cor lapis gem shimmering holding onto the memories of a love that once lived, a fire that could have burned brighter but was extinguished by a cold rain, only smoke to remain as it flies to the sky.
I would rather, I would rather go, blind boy,
A smile paints your face as you walk hand in hand with your lover Mùyáng his lips in a grand grin as he twirls you around him “Mùyáng!” you playfully scold as he dips you before pulling you back up. Only a few weeks ago he had confessed after you both danced around each other for some time “I brought you here because I wanted to confess something to you” he says as you both sit on Cuijue slope looking over the pools “I have felt this for quite some time now, but when I’m around you my heart seems to speed up, and my face gets hot. And every time I see you happy I swoon” He confesses his pretty brown eyes peering at you as your eyes widen and your cheeks flush “I feel the same Mùyáng” You sigh pulling him into your arms and kissing his nose. He pulls you in for a deep kiss. Zhongli watches as the both of you hold each other talking about good times, tears on the brim of his eyes.
Then to see you walk away from me child, and all
Zhongli couldn’t escape his heartbreak. Your engagement ring on a chain around his neck, “I’m pathetic” he thinks after all it’d been months since that day when you stamped in with tears in your eyes, heart on your sleeve as you stormed to your once shared bedroom. But here he was trying to drown himself in wine as he remembered what you said when you placed the beautiful ring in front of him “How about you go give this to her, I won’t be needing it” Your eyes filled with hate and pain then you gracefully walked out of his life like the way you walked into it “I’m a fool” he groans cupping his face in his golden hands his clothes scattered as he looks over at the naked stranger in his bed, they have a nearly identical hairstyle to you and that same glimmer in their eyes when they look at him. Bruises cover his body but he disregards them instead stumbling to the bathroom to bathe before the sunrises, he keeps the lights off rather not look at himself.
So you see I love you so much
Mùyáng holds the door open for you as you enter Liuli Pavilion, the both of you dressed to the nines. Zhongli gazes at you the beautiful white blouse with golden trim ‘the one you’d sewn yourself when you attended your friend's wedding with Zhongli’ and the matching black pants with the gold trim that hugged your midsection in the best way possible. He looks at your new lover, he wore one of your creations, a white and gold western-styled suit with golden chains around the shoulders, wrists, and waist. It was gorgeous, the two of you were gorgeous together, he watches as a few people follow behind him all dressed in beautiful clothing. The entire scene is similar to when you were originally announcing your engagement.
That I don’t want to watch you leave me, baby
He listens in as Xiangling talks with Shenhe about you and your company's opening “I can’t believe they finally opened a boutique!” She excitedly says hopping from foot to foot, Shenhe agrees with her “I’m glad they had Mùyáng to support them” “Wait (Name’s) finally opened the boutique?” Xiangling's father asks as he turns back towards the two from the window they both nod “Took ‘em long enough” he chuckles.
Most of all, I just don’t, I just don’t want to be free, no
Zhongli wakes up when he hears someone banging on his door. He throws on his gloves, a button-up, and pants throwing open the door, the woman who looks like Guizhong standing there “Where were you?!” she groans she pushes past him into his home “What is going on?” he asks looking at her with a puzzled look “You were drinking again!” she growls picking up the empty bottle “I thought you said you were over them!” she whirls around poking a finger into his chest “Well, I lied!” he shouts watching as her eyes widen “I thought you said you would never lie” she whimpers “What did you expect, once a liar always a liar” he sighs “Now go” he commands “W-what?” “You heard me” he barks walking back into his bedroom and slamming the door.
I was just, I was just, I was just sitting here thinking
You look at your lover as he sleeps his black shoulder-length hair splayed across his bruised chest his beautiful face looking so peaceful and sweet, you grab his hand holding it tightly as a giddy feeling bubbles up in your chest as you think about your future with him. You feel your chest fill with hope for this love to burn fiercely and rise like a phoenix from your past love's ashes.
Of your kiss and warm embrace, yeah
You read peacefully in the arms of your dearest his fingers running down your bare back the cold feeling of his engagement ring making the skin rise, your hands wrapped around his chest, your ring pressing into the leather cover of your book. He kisses your forehead as he admires the bruises painting your body and the small scars and birthmarks that litter the skin in a beautiful painting of life, “I love you baby” he hums, “I love to too.” you reply to him.
When the reflection in the glass that I held to my lips now baby
Cold winter coats Liyue, everyone cozied up in their homes. Except Zhongli who sits on his porch a hot cup of tea cradled between his hands, and a wool scarf around his neck. A windy Adeptus sitting beside him “How have you been Xiao?” he asks looking up at the starry sky “. . .” he knew that was all he would get from the grumpy man.
Xiao seethed as he watched Zhongli shatter your heart and stomp on it many times all the women he gazed at as they passed by, all of them looking scarily like Guizhong.
“You’re doing it again” he growls “I know” is all Zhongli responds with “What about that woman in your bed, who lays in your bed, she looks a lot like them. How about when she finds out you’re only using her to relive memories” Xiao sighs standing up and brushing the snow from his pants. Before disappearing in a puff of smoke.
Revealed the tears that was on my face yeah
Zhongli wipes the tears from his face as he watches you walk down the aisle to Mùyáng who stands there his own tears slipping down his face as he watches you his soon-to-be spouse walk to him to finally be his until death did you part. Zhongli congratulated you both then left the venue barely holding back sobs.
And baby, baby, I would rather be blind, boy
He chucked the ring into the sea ignoring the ‘Plop’ sound it let out as his hands curled into fists. He would rather be blind than see you with him.
Then see you walk away, see you walk away from me yeah
He would rather live in ignorance than accept you walked away from him.
Baby, baby, baby, I’d rather be blind now.

Hi! If you take requests, can you do something with Zhongli who start to have feeling for hydro who is likely reminds him of Guizhong (like a reincarnation of her but not that)
Tumblr media
。゚🌨。 rainbow
°。⋆ zhongli x reader
°。⋆ kinda yandere zhongli omg, reader is from inazuma, selfish motivations, angst, bittersweet ending (wc. 1.1k)
note: i thought this would suit a ficlet rather than a hc, so i hope you don’t mind! also, i don’t rlly love the idea of zhongli liking someone purely bc they remind him of guizhong (or just in gen, yk love someone for who they are not bc of what they remind you of, bring to you, or whatever else), so i hope its fine that its a bit more angsty ^^ (also wasn’t quite sure how to incorporate the hydro part in a big way, so all in all its more used as a metaphor.)
Tumblr media
the way the breeze hit your face, the way your expression softened under his touch, you reminded him so fondly of her. that’s precisely why he has to hold back tears as you sit him down in a more secluded area of the cafe.
“i’m happy for you, dear. when do you leave?”
“tomorrow! can you believe it? i finally get to visit all my friends after a tough few years…”
unaware of the sound of his heartbeat faltering, you happily take a sip of the tea you’ve ordered. you were happy in liyue, of course; you had made many friends and memories here, but it wasn’t truly “home”. you had planned on visiting liyue for a week or two when the sakoku decree was enforced, and that “week or two” quickly became a year.
initially, it was certainly terrifying; not knowing whether your loved ones were safe, and not having a home to come back to. this uncertainty, however, was gently soothed away by a man by the name of zhongli. he had found you crying outside the wangsheng funeral parlor; at the time you had just be informed of the decree. drawn by the cloud of rain that seemed to form above your head, he didn’t mind getting a bit drenched.
“you don’t seem to be from around here… and you’re crying all alone in a rain of your own doing nonetheless. would you like some company, dear traveller?”
you only let out a weak chuckle and nod, fearing that your words would betray you. you both settled into a comfortable silence as he simply sat beside you, giving you nothing but his company. you didn’t realise how alone you felt until that moment; you wanted to cry more, shout louder, your body started trembling over the realisation.
he quickly noticed this and enveloped you in a hug; he knew it was crossing your boundaries, but he couldn’t bear to see you carry the pain all alone. you did nothing to resist, accepting his touch.
“i’m… i’m sorry, i just…”
“it’s fine.” you gasped in between tears, your breathing only getting more uneven.
“perhaps you would like to talk about it over some tea?” he was still only restrained to hugging you gently, feeling as though the slightest touch would shatter you. you nod once again, letting him help you up.
and that was how you got here.
zhongli instantly became someone you could rely on; he guided you through liyue in more ways than one, culture, history and even making new friends! in that time, he also picked up on how much you reminded him of his… old friend. he’d try to shake it off or push you away, but he always felt the need to protect and guide you; the way he couldn’t for his dear friend. alas, his fantasy was soon coming to and end.
after hearing your sentiments, he too took a sip of his tea; his throat feeling increasingly dry.
“i understand, i mean you told me all about it on that fateful day we met.” he pauses and closes his eyes. it takes every muscle in his face to force a smile, and it eventually does come out, barely. “yes, dear, this is great. i’m so happy for you.” he opens his eyes to see you smiling right back at him; that smile killing him in more ways than one.
“yup! i couldn’t have gotten through it all without you, zhongli. i’m so thankful to have had you as a friend.”
the way your eyes curve into crescents, he can’t hold back anymore. he wasn’t ready to just stop seeing you, not without admitting his own secrets; at the same time, he wasn’t completely to reveal them either.
“i– wait. will you be back any time soon?”
“probably not for a while, i missed a lot while i’ve been here.”
“but you will eventually?”
“i’m not yet sure, i haven’t even–”
“it’s a yes or no question.”
you’ve never seen nor heard him this way; his face deadpanned and his voice stern. you didn’t know where all of this was coming from, he was happy just moments ago.
“zhongli, what’s with the sudden change in mood?”
he realises his palms are face down on the table, and his voice is almost shaking. meanwhile, you were just there, staring up at him innocently, waiting for him to respond. just like her, you were the calm to his storm, giving him way more understanding than he though he deserved.
“i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to…”
“i understand, but where is this coming from, zhongli? what is this about?”
he lets out a shaky breath, his walls surely crumbling down. the facade of his feelings had finally come to light.
“guizhong, i… you just remind me too much of her, i can’t let you go, not yet. i love you…”
he sits back down, defeated by this own emotions. he hasn’t a clue what your reaction might be, but if you’re anything like her, he knows it won’t be the most positive.
“zhongli… i’m not her.” you stutter out, a lump stuck in your throat. you very much knew who she was; he had told you who he actually was, he had told you the history of liyue, his friends, the yakshas, everything. you thought he had told you everything, but the present says otherwise.
“i know that you know i’m not her. you’re wise, you’re smart, you just… you’re overtaken by your emotions, zhongli…” you pause for another moment feeling a tear finally roll down your cheek. “i-i’ve loved you too, but… please love me for me, not for her.” you gather any strength you have left to stand up and leave him there to face himself.
after you’re long gone, zhongli finds a wave of tears rushing down his cheeks, not unlike the rain clouds you create when you cry. perhaps he deserved it.
a new day’s sun rises, and you’re gone just like that. your boat had left in the early hours of the dawn, and you didn’t bother to look back; that’s what you tell yourself at least, because zhongli finds a bouquet of camellias with a note on his doorstep.
“to answer your question, i will be back one day when we’ve both grown a bit older and our minds a bit clearer. i love you dearly, zhongli. i hope you’ll love me too, one day.”
he stares at the note a bit longer, noticing the way the sun slowly covers it in its light; oh how he wishes it would just rain.

Listen, I know we are bard loving enthusiasts here but just imagine. The people of teyvat don't know you personally, just through stories. They don't know what huge simp you are. The first thing you do is smooch the person you just resurrected. What if they think that's the price for bringing someone back?
Diluc and Kaeya going through the five stages of grief as they think about having to sit there while their god and their dad make out.
Zhongli contemplating whether he's jealous of his best friend for getting to kiss you or just happy to have Guizhong back.
Xiao wondering if he has to sit through this experience multiple times for his yaksha friends.
Kazuha probably doesn't mind that Tomo gets to kiss you, but might be a little put out that he doesn't get to kiss you too.
Ei is having a similar dilemma as Zhongli, but would much rather play wingman for her sister instead. It's a fair exchange in her eyes.
Part 4 of the Kissing Frenzy saga, I suppose-
Kissing Venti.
Kissing Venti (sequel ft. the first sprites).
Kissing Nameless Bard.
Tumblr media
Diluc and Kaeya breathing a sigh of relief simultaneously when, after resurrecting their father at their humble request, simply gave him a kiss upon his forehead. Then you gesture towards them for their dad to take notice of their presence, patting Crepus' shoulder once before moving on to the next dead person to bring back to life.
You gave Guizhong a very brief kiss on her cheek before urging Zhongli to receive her. The god of dust beamed at the affection you bestowed upon her, earning a headpat from you. You watched Zhongli embrace her tightly while praising your name and thanking you before you move on.
Now, personally??? I think Xiao nor Kazuha wouldn't wish for their friends to be brought back to life.
Xiao, as morbid as it sounds, is quite relieved that his yaksha friends are gone from this world. He really wouldn't wish for them to live and suffer under the weight of their karmic debt all over again. That's why I think he wouldn't ask for them to be resurrected.
"They're already free from their burden. Please let their souls rest, Your Grace."
Kazuha, on the other hand, thinks that his friend died an honorable death. Reviving him would be akin to spitting at his sacrifice. It would lose its meaning. Just like he doesn't desire revenge for the fall of his clan, I personally think he doesn't see the need to bring back Tomo, even though he probably has some unfinished business with him. Whatever that may be. He has already moved on.
"You don't need to bring him back to life, Your Eminence. My only request is that when I draw my last breath, please allow me to reunite with him in the afterlife."
Now, this is where it gets interesting.
Ei is torn between begging you to revive her sister or letting her rest in peace, like Xiao and Kazuha chose. In the end, her longing for another chance to be with her sister again won in the end and she asks you to bring Makoto back.
So you did!
And then you ask Makoto's permission to kiss her.
Which the previous Electro Archon approves, and you pull her in for a kiss upon her lips. Ei covers her face, feeling embarrassed and jealous both at the same time.
...Did you really have to kiss her sister right in front of her?!
