synopsis: wriothesley finds out you have a crush on someone and somehow manages to guess it’s on literally everyone but himself

warnings: fluff, a tiny pinch of angst and insecurity, my poor attempt at humor, slight miscommunication, friends to lovers, coworkers to lovers, swearing, first time writing for wriothesley so he might be ooc

notes: i almost made this angst to fluff but then decided i need to stop adding angst into literally everything i write (even though there’s like a tiny pinch of angst in here too 🙄). anyway, wriothesley is a lot harder to write than i thought he would be so i apologize if he seems ooc here

“Heard you gotta crush on someone,” Wriothesley teases as he walks into his office where you sit on one of his couches. You don’t even hear him walk in, too engaged in the book you were reading to pass time until you had to go through hundreds of inmate records to find something Neuvillette had requested.

His declaration is so sudden it almost makes you spit out the tea you had stolen from him.

Your eyes go wide as you stare at where he moves to lean against the front of his desk, arms crossed and waiting for an answer with that stupid smirk of his, “Hey now, that tea is expensive, so don’t go wasting it, okay?”

“Who told you about that?” you press for answers, a hint of anger in your voice as you ignore his previous statement about the tea. He had plenty to spare anyway.

Wriothesley’s smirk widens a bit, “So it is true.”

Damn him.

You don’t even bother trying to make an excuse, knowing your best friend all too well. He’d pick apart your words like weeds in a garden, finding meaning in them that you hadn’t even intended.

“And what if it is true?” you cross your arms defensively, glaring at him from across the room.

“At least tell me who it is,” he says as he rests his palms on the wooden desk behind him. When you don’t give in to his pleading, he playfully scoffs, “Oh c’mon, I’m your best friend! It’s kinda an obligation for you to tell me these things.”

You turn away, fixating your gaze on a nearby wall adorned with some weird painting he had hung awhile back, “Oh yeah? Since when? Last I checked there aren’t any rule books for being friends with someone. I don’t have to tell you a damn thing.”

“It’s Neuvillette, isn’t it?” he smiles knowingly. Perhaps that was why you were always the one receiving tasks from the Chief Justice instead of him — a guess at best, but enough evidence to convince him Neuvillette was the one.

No, you idiot. It’s you.

You snap your head back toward him, “What? No! I don’t like Neuvillette…not like that, at least. He’s nice and all, but I don’t think I’d be able to date the guy.”

“Damn, I really thought I had that one,” Wriothesley mumbles in defeat, pushing himself off the desk and instead moving to walk around the room as he thinks. It scares you. The fact that he’s so particular with facts and little details that it’s only a matter of time before he collects all the pieces to the puzzle and figures out he’s the one you like. What would he say when that happens? “Too nice, huh? So you like someone a little colder, then.”

Damn it, he got you again!

You don’t answer him.

“Not even going to try to deny it?”

“No,” you grumble to yourself, slumping further into the couch, “you’re only going to dig further anyway.”

He gives a satisfied hum, “Right, so it’s Clorinde then. I mean c’mon, we don’t get a lot of visitors, so it has to be her. She fits the description too.”

You exhaustedly sigh and swipe a hand over your face dramatically, done with his antics, “It’s not her either. And there is no ‘description.’”

He perks up in a way that makes you way too uncomfortable, “Navia?”

“No, I’ve never even met her aside from like one time two years ago,” you refute, sliding further down on the couch to fully lie down and shut your eyes, “I don’t get why you’re so excited over this.”

Wriothesley thinks for a moment before squinting his eyes, “Don’t tell me you have a crush on a prisoner?”

You teasingly peek an eye open while leaning back to look at him, “And if I did?”

“You better not,” he warns, pointing a stern finger at you like you were a prisoner and not his coworker.

You laugh to yourself at his sudden change of mood, “Relax, I was only joking!”

“Not funny,” he says unamused, prepared to pull out the prison’s rule book and slap it over your head if you did, “I’m really runnin’ out of people here.”

“Yeah, okay,” you say sarcastically, resisting the urge to roll your eyes, “thousands of people live in Fontaine. You’ll figure it out eventually.”

You really hope he doesn’t.

The following ten minutes consist of Wriothesley irritatingly pacing around the room and mumbling all sorts of names to himself. Some of which you recognized, others you had never even heard of before. And, despite all of your countless no’s to his guesses, he never gives up. Nor does he realize the answer is right in front of him.

“Just give it up already,” you finally interrupt as he stops in front of you.

A heavy sigh falls from Wriothesley’s lips as he collapses onto the couch, narrowly missing where your legs were outstretched. Defeatedly, he lays his head against the back of the sofa, shutting his eyes as he thinks a little harder. “Oh my god,” he says suddenly, head shooting up to look at you, “…don’t tell me.”

No way. Did he figure it out?

Your breath captures in your throat as his eyes flicker back and forth between your own, searching for some sort of truth. He knows. Your best friend knows that you have feelings for him — and not just the platonic kind.

His brows furrow and his face morphs into one of disgust. It makes your heart drop; the way he’s looking at you.

He doesn’t feel the same way.

“I can’t believe it,” he clicks his tongue in disgust, crossing his arms and turning his attention away from you, “you like Furina.”

Your jaw drops to the floor and suddenly you don’t feel bad anymore, “I actually can’t believe you just said that. Archons, I think you need to visit Sigewinne. I mean, seriously! Furina? Of all people!”

He grins and shrugs carelessly, “I don’t know? She was the last person I could think of.”

“Something is seriously wrong with you.”

“Clearly not so wrong that I couldn’t figure out that the person you actually like is me.”

“Oh please, I don’t even—wait, what? You knew?!”

A boisterous laugh erupts suddenly as you stare at him with wide eyes. You sit up on the couch quickly, slapping his shoulder as he continues to laugh, “Sorry, sorry!”

You don’t find it amusing, “I—when did you figure it out?”

His laugh eventually subsides into a drawn out sigh and his blue eyes soften a bit as they gaze into your own, “I’m not an idiot, you know? I wouldn’t be running this place if I was.”

“Right,” you mumble awkwardly, averting your gaze from his, “so, um, were you just doing all that to lighten the mood so you could let me down easily or…?”

“Or…what?” Wriothesley mocks you, a playful smirk pulling at his lips.

You roll your eyes with a scoff, “don’t make me say it.”

He spares you, luckily. It’s unlike him, but he doesn’t care to joke with you any longer when the subject is so serious, “Yes, I feel the same way. Is that what you wanted to hear?”

“No, I totally wanted to hear you say you hate me and want me dead,” you say sarcastically, trying to fight a smile.

“I’m being serious, I really do like you,” Wriothesley presses, ignoring the way you’re becoming awkward from the nervousness floating in the air.

You finally exhale the breath you had been guarding in your chest, relieved that this didn’t go as horribly as you once thought it would.

The alarm sounding for dinner goes off after and you both stand from your places on the couch, “So what do we do now that that’s out of the way?”

Wriothesley falls into step next to you, holding the doors to his office open to let you out first, “We have our first date in the cafeteria, of course.”

Your face drops and you stop in your tracks to glare at him, “That better be a joke.”

He laughs it off quickly, not thinking you’d take it so seriously. Eagerly, he grabs your hand tightly in his as he pulls you to the exit of the Fortress, “Relax, I’m just teasing you! You deserve only the best, after all.”

“You are so annoying.”

“Only for you, sweetheart.”

With a dramatic sigh you let your head fall against his shoulder. The two of you have been studying together for about two hours and your in desperate need of a break. "C'mon, you need to focus." john b is the king of princess treatment it’s true :(( but ugh thinking bout rafe in this situation, complying and helping you because wtf :( you don’t deserve to be sick :( hustling you to the doctors office n sitting on the cold plastic seat next to you with you curled into his side or even on his lap with your eyes closed cos you feel so rough :( and he’s starting to shake his head n dramatically check his watch at how long they’re taking to call you in, and if they tell you there’s gonna be a bit of a wait he’ll head right up to that front desk and lean his elbows on it, talking to them using the quiet intimidating ‘do you know who i am’ voice ‘til he gets you seen by someone 🙄

he’d probably do all the talking in the appointment too, brow creasing as he listens to the doctor who seems to not really know properly what the problem is, which frustrates rafe cos he’s worried :(

“wh—what so you’re tellin’ me it’s the 21st century n’you don’t have the resources to figure out whether this is a stomach infection or something worse?” he squints and you put a hand on his arm tiredly, rasping out a ‘rafe’ to stop him.

“sir, we have taken her vitals and they are fine. best thing we can do is send her home with a generalised prescription and you can call up if things get worse.” the doctor explains calmly as rafe shakes his head, mouth turned down as if to say ‘nope’.

“nah, nah here’s what’s gonna happen. you’re gonna run some more tests, and figure out the problem. shit, call in a professional i don’t care. just figure it out, alright?” he was so rude, and you turned your cheek against his arm to face the other way in embarrassment, knowing the doctor was just doing his job.

eventually, after rafe gets what he wants — you get sent home with a more targeted prescription, rafe carrying you to the car and into the house whilst you doze off.

“okay, there you go.” he sets you down on the bed, huffing out a sigh after the long day of arguing he’d had. he brings you a glass of water, hand cupping the back of your clammy neck as he brings it to your mouth. you groan and he raises his brows, concentrating on not spilling it. “drink.” he demands quietly and you do, before pulling away and wiping your chin from a little spillage, sleepily wiping your wet hand on rafes shirt. he only shakes his head slightly in acknowledgement to this before pulling your blanket off you when you try to snuggle up.

“hey, no— can’t have this, okay? you’re burning up still.”

“but i’m cold.” you complain, curling into yourself miserably.

“i know, kid.” he sighs out his nose, watching you for a moment. “you want anything?”

“you.” you pout.

“i’m already here. anything else?”

“no thank you.” your eyes flutter shut, feeling the exhaustion (and medication) take over your system.

“alright, sweetheart. rest up, yeah?”

summary: On your walk back home, you suddenly get a message from your best friend who is updating you on a special someone who recently came back to town and wants to catch up after ending on bad terms.

Usually on late nights like now you'd find yourself with Dina, in her car, driving you home. but tonight was different. You took the normal route but this time you had to walk from Dina's place, as always because tonight she was with Jesse of course, but, she promised to make it up to you, and she kept her promises.

So here you were at 1:00am, wandering the streets of your neighborhood. Recently there has been much talk about weirdos and hobos roaming the area. Not that it scared you.. (Which is what you tried to convince yourself.) You continued walking until a sudden familiar ding was heard from you phone, followed but a ring.

"Hello??"

"Girl. I've been texting you. Where are you?"

"Dina, I'm fine i'm like five minutes away from my house, I'll survive."

You knew Dina cared for you.

"Alright, alright. Just let me know when you get home. Again, i'm sorry for the quick change of plans."

"Dina, it's fine. Just go spend some time with Jesse, you deserve it."

From the other side of the phone Dina rolled her eyes playfully as she smiled.

"Thanks, I owe you."

"Big time." You joked

You hung up and as soon as you knew it, you arrived home. "Ugh finally." You grabbed your phone out and shot a quick text to Dina, as you said you would.

Y/N : 'finally home as always, and i survived too!?..huh!'

Dina : 'yeah, yeah whatever, BUT off topic you'll never guess who just texted me.'

Y/N : 'huh? who'

Dina : 'bitch, guess.'

Y/N : 'cmon, i have nothing to work with, just tell me'

Dina : '🙄 i was expecting more of a dramatic guess but THE Ellie Williams just texted me. She said she's back in town, her and that cat girl just broke up, so she moved back here.'

Y/N : 'WHATTT. don't tell me she's moving back to our city...'

Dina : 'you guessed it!'

Y/N : 'shitt, i haven't seen her since i was like 16. i hope she forgot about me, we ended on horrible terms girl. 😭'

After a while you continued your night waiting from a response from Dina until finally, you felt tired enough to go upstairs into your room onto your bed and you began shutting your eyes.

Multiple rings awoken you, suddenly making you rise up with a hand to your chest, over your heart. You took a look at your phone revealing a missed call from Dina and a few new messages. You glanced at the time. 10:47am. "Fuck, I fucking slept in again." You whined before you sat up on the edge of your bed before opening the notifications.

Dina : 'bitch wake tf up , I HAVE NEWS. SHE IS ASKING ABOUT YOU.'

Dina sent you a screenshot of their messages. Chatting back and fourth before one of Ellie's text lands on your name, reading, 'What about Y/N? You guys still friends?' Dina simply replied, 'Yes, still. Are you guys talking? Good terms?' Which made you laugh out loud. Dina was clearly playing dumb. You scrolled the the next screenshot to Ellie saying...'No. Haven't heard from her. Do you have her number? I would talk to her but she's probably still held back from that biatch Nate.' Nate was your ex from your sophomore year. Ellie hated him. Nate would always ignore you and you would always be wrapped around his fingers whenever you could be. Ellie hated you for it, in-fact, she hated both of you for it.

Y/N : 'DAMNMNN. DON'T TELL HER ANYTHING I'M BEGGING YOU. 🙏🙏'

Dina : 'look who is finally up. but seriously, trust me I didn't tell her anything..yet..she invited us and jesse and some other friends of hers to a hotbox.....'

Y/N : 'no way. we're not going.'

Dina : 'Cmon, it'll be fine. we'll even catch up and you guys can get back to being on good terms. I won't force you, but think about it pleaseee.'

Y/N : 'girllll, fine. only if you stay with me and we only stay for a little bit. i seriously don't wanna face her after so many years. when is it?'

Dina : 'THANK YOU. i'll stick with you the whole time, i promise. it's at six. she said it's nothing fancy but their gonna smoke and probably drink. I'll pick you up around 5:20 okay? SEE YOUU. xoxo'

"Ugh. This is gonna be humiliating..why did I say yes.." you groaned and was staring to rethink her choices before she got off the bed and looked for an outfit. Nothing fancy. Simple flared yoga pants and a grey camisole with a hoodie tied around the waist. After a few minutes of changing you went downstairs to brush your teeth and ya started to get ready for the day.

5:12pm Dina : 'omw'

Y/N : 'i'm gonna shit my pants.'

Dina pulled in the driveway honking. You grabbed your purse, keys, and your phone as you walked outside into Dina's car.

"You ready or what?" Dina asked, clearly confident. "Where is this place anyway? Is this in some sketchy van or like some type of room?" You asked, ready for any possible answer. "Well.. close. It's at Ellie's house- or well, basement." Dina said as she began driving. "Seriously? Out of all places we're going to her house!? She's gonna murder me or something?! She probably remembers the old snotty me from high-school." you whined which made Dina chuckle, "Relax. It's just catching up. She was like 19 and you were 16. Let's be real. She's probably over it by now." Dina said, reassuring.

6:02pm. You both arrived. Ellie's driveway was pretty packed. "Dina i'm actually gonna shit my pants." you said, CLEARLY SCARED. Meanwhile, Dina texted Ellie letting her know that the two arrived. "Cmon, it's fine. We're fine. We can stay for a little and leave." Dina said. Soon they prepared and both entered and followed everyone downstairs where Ellie was spotted.

"Ellie!" Dina obnoxiously shouted to which you playfully, but forcefully punched Dina's arm just before Ellie walked over, and boy did she look different. Mullet auburn hair, a toned body, a tattoo, her clothing was different...her tank...and her sweatpants...She looked so...-

Until tapping was suddenly felt on your shoulder. "oh..uh hm?" You looked at Dina who was looking at you right before Ellie came over.

"shitt, you look..different.." Ellie's eyes scanned Dina up and down before she focused on you. "Shit? Y/N? You look different as hell too." This made you feel some type of way but you just couldn't describe it. Dina noticed your lack of comfort and she began talking. "Hey, how have you been, El? It's been a while." No shit, you thought. It's been three years since she left for her, now ex-girlfriend. She left as soon as she turned 19, abandoning you, but she kept little contact with you before she had completely ghosted you. "Sophia Parker and Violet Isabelle Miller! If you're not down here in five minutes, I'm leavin' without you!" You yell up the stairs. Joel chuckles from his place at the kitchen counter, shoveling cereal into his mouth like it's his last meal, and you give him a look. "What?"

"You had an accent when you yelled at them." He says. You scoff and walk over to him, stealing a sip of coffee from his mug. 

"I did not."

"You totally did."

"Even if I did, which I didn't, you should take it as a compliment." You say, busying yourself with some mail left on the counter. You feel him raise his eyebrows before you see it, and he puts down his bowl to wrap an arm around your waist and pull you into his chest until your shoulder presses into his sternum. You ignore him and his stupid Laker's shirt he knows you love and read the same letter from the girls' school over and over again.

"Yeah? Why's that?" 

"I've been married to you for twenty-two years, and you're just now finally rubbing off on me. It's something to celebrate, really." You snark, and he laughs. It's one of his big, full laughs that makes him throw his head back. The sight makes your heart shine.

"You're an asshole." He says lovingly, taking the mail he knows you don't care about out of your hand and turning you so he can have your full attention.

"Yeah, yeah," you laugh as you lock your arms around his shoulders. "What do you have planned for today, Mr. Miller?" You ask, and he sighs.

"I gotta go into the studio. We just signed a new band, and we're havin' a meeting to talk about the next album," he says. Despite the annoyed tone he's adopted, you can see how excited he is about this new venture. He loves allowing new, young bands to make something fresh. He says it keeps him young. You know it's what he was meant to do all along. "What bout you? What're you doin' today, Mrs. Miller?"

"One of my old students has a project they want to pitch for me to produce. She's brilliant and an amazing writer, so I'm sure I'll say yes and shell out all our money."

"For the children," he says dramatically, and you laugh. "She's lucky to have you in her corner. I'm sure it'll be great." His words hit right where they need to, and you press yourself closer to him.

"You're a sap." Your words ghost over his lips, and his hand slides into your back pocket like always.

"Yeah, yeah." He breathes. You're less than an inch apart, and it wouldn't take much movement to actually kiss him, but you like being this close to him. You like counting all his freckles and watching him try to decide who will be the first to break. His lips barely graze yours when suddenly stomping feet and a loud argument make their way down the stairs and into the kitchen. You take a deep breath as you and Joel turn to look at the girls, who barely acknowledge how you're wrapped up in each other because they always see you being affectionate with each other. Joel Miller has not gotten more subtle about his PDA in his old age.

"Mom, please tell Violet this is my shirt!" Sophia demands, tugging on the fabric of a worn UT shirt. 

"I literally wore it last week! You commented on it and everything!" Violet looks to you. "Do you remember, Mom? I was wearing it when we went to Trader Joe's on Thursday."

"That's true. You were," you say, making Sophia's jaw drop. Of the two, Sophia has always had a little more flair for the dramatics, something she definitely gets from you. On more than one occasion, Sophia has done or said something ridiculous, and Joel bursts out laughing because he thinks it's something you would do or say. "But Vi, I told you last week that you stole my shirt from my closet, and I wanted it back. I thought you were gonna, at least, wash it first."

"Ew! You didn't wash it?!" Sophia screeches.

"Of course, I did, dipshit! I just... forgot Mom wanted it back." 

"Wait a second," Joel says, finally catching up with the argument. He looks between the shirt and the three of you before tilting his head to give you an are-you-fucking-serious-right-now look. "I've been lookin' for that for weeks! That's my shirt." He says. Suddenly, it all connects. You stole it from Joel. Violet stole it from you. Sophia stole it from Violet. As the realization settles over the room, Sophia walks over to Joel, puts her hand on his shoulder, and squeezes like a disappointed teacher.

"Our shirt." 

"Communism shirt!" Violet yells, making you laugh so hard that you stumble against Joel.

"You can't just yell 'communism shirt' and expect me to not want my shirt back." He tries to argue.

"Dad! You're not listening. It's a community shirt. Get with the times, old man." 

"Old man?!" 

"Hey, I happen to think he's a very hot and sexy old man." You jump in, and the girls groan.

"Thank you, baby," Joel says as he kisses you firmly. The girls boo and pretend to cover their eyes in disgust, making you all laugh. You pull away from Joel, but he chases your lips for a few quick kisses until he finally lets you go.

"We're gonna be late if we keep talking about the communism shirt. Girls get in the car, please," you say, stealing one more sip of coffee from Joel's cup, and the girls groan in protest as they slip on their backpacks and walk to the front door. You smile as you look at Joel, alone again for just a second. "You gotta start hiding your shirts better otherwise, they're all gonna become Marxist property." 

"This is somethin' they should really put in the parenting books," he says, and you laugh. He grabs your purse from the kitchen table for you and kisses you again as he slides it up your arm. "Love you."

"Love you, too. Let me know how the album meeting goes."

"Let me know how the pitch goes." He echoes. This is how much of your life has been together: letting each other go and make creative decisions while supporting them no matter how they play out. Many Hollywood couples get divorced because they can't learn how to give their partner the support and patience they need to create art. You and Joel have always been good about making sure the other feels supported and heard but not weighed down by differing artistic opinions or thoughts. He has his work, and you have yours, and you make it work. It's one of the reasons you love him so much. That and the fact that he still walks you to your car and opens the door for you after more than twenty years together. Granted, he smacks your ass in front of your daughters while you're climbing into the car, but that's par for the course. 

He blows kisses to his teenage daughters in the backseat and waves as you roll down the driveway, standing there until you disappear around the corner. His cologne is imprinted on your shirt collar, and you can still feel his lips on yours when Sophia sits up in her seat.

Omfg I’m so tired of ppl trying to get me to be their personal shopper while I’m working at 🎯. Ppl do this all the time and I’m so mf sick of it.

Today it was an old lady who couldn’t be bothered to look for her own shopping. My dept is right next to the entrance, and her cart was completely empty, so I knew right away she was wanting to suck some poor employee into doing all her shopping for her, without ever trying to find the items herself. She walked in and right away decided she didnt feel like doing any of her own shopping.

“Where is the hairspray?”

“Aisle A31 :)” and I try to get back to my tasks.

“Can you come with me.” Here we go 🙄

I follow her to the aisle and she asks me for travel size hairspray. I show her and try to make my escape. But before I can she says “this is all you have? these are so small! I want one that’s small, but not TOO small.” Omg lady then get the big one Jfc there’s only two sizes, full size and travel. Idk why you think there are more than that???

“You asked me for the travel size hairspray.” I tell her. My patience is running out very very quickly.

“Yes but I need one that’s bigger.”

“Ok well the full size ones are in the next aisle over, where I pointed to earlier.” Hinting that I did not need to be here for any part of this.

She sighs so dramatically and says “you can just go I can tell you don’t wanna help me.”

Lmao so I said “alright, sounds good!” And walked away. Idgaf. Nothing pisses me off more than ppl who think they can just force a regular ass employee into being their personal shopper just bc they’re lazy, making me hold their stupid little baby hand as they slowly, agonizingly look at all the hairsprays. Like have you never been in a fucking store before? Or are you just that fucking lazy that you’d rather keep me from all my tasks just bc you don’t wanna have to look around by yourself. You were in your room when you heard it. Baekhyun was putting the little one down for bed and you had the baby monitor on. You couldn’t help but smile as you listened to Baekhyun coo at your baby girl, hearing her infectious giggles. They were your little family, and you felt so blessed in this moment.

“Dada.”

The house grew silent. Your heart plummeted as you heard your daughter say her first word.

It was a bit later when Baekhyun came barging in, having finally put baby to sleep.

“You won’t believe it!” He said, smiling from ear to ear, practically jumping with elation.

“Pumpkin said her first word! And it was ‘Dada’! She said my name!”

“Congratulations,” you said, voice void of any emotion.

He noticed that and deflated instantly. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” You turned your head away from him when tears began obscuring your vision.

You missed the way his eyes narrowed suspiciously. “Are you…upset?”

You shook your head in answer, unable to speak without bursting into tears. When it came to your precious baby girl, you were a blubbering mess, and something this huge had you absolutely distraught. You felt like you were going crazy, but that didn’t stop you from reacting this way.

You were trying your best not to show just how affected you were, but you sucked in a shaky breath that made it all too obvious what you were doing.

“Are you crying?” He questioned incredulously.

You couldn’t hold it back any longer. You burst into tears, full on sobbing. Baekhyun took in your wailing form in utter shock, not expecting this reaction to his news.

“I just…really…wanted her to say…my name…first,” you revealed between sobs.

“It’s not a competition,” he said soothingly. “She might have said ‘dada’ first, but—”

Just hearing him say it again made you wail harder.

“For God’s sake, stop crying,” he groaned. It came off as irritated, but you heard the distress in his voice. He hated when you cried.

“I can’t help it,” you whimpered. “Our baby doesn’t love me.”

Baekhyun sighed before joining you on the bed, pulling you into him so that you’re crying on his chest. You didn’t fight him, letting him comfort you. He tucked your head under his chin and rubbed your back.

“Just because Pumpkin said my name first, doesn’t mean she loves you any less. She’ll be saying mama in no time, so there’s no need to be jealous.”

“I’m not jealous, you’re jealous,” you wailed, elbowing him in the stomach. He chuckled from the action, but grew serious quickly.

“Will you stop crying, please? You’ll make me cry.”

You could already hear the tears in his own voice, and that made you feel guilty.

“I’m sorry,” you apologized, finally calming down. You pulled away from him, taking in his red rimmed eyes. “I ruined this moment for you.”

He shook his head. “No, your reaction is valid. I would’ve been disappointed too, if the roles were reversed.”

You sniffed and Baekhyun cupped your face, wiping your river of tears. Once cleaned off, he pressed a loving kiss onto your forehead, and then your nose, and then a chaste kiss to your lips.

“I love you,” he said simply.

“I love you too,” you replied and then kissed him again. “Let’s go to bed, ‘Dada’.”

He grinned at that, nothing but pure happiness and love shining in his eyes. “It’s got a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

“It’s perfect,” you told him as you both got comfortable under the blankets.

It’s peacefully quiet for a moment before Baekhyun murmured, “you’ve been acting kind of sensitive lately. You don’t think you might be pregnant again, do you?”

You groaned at the thought. “God, I hope not.”

You could feel the pout on his little lips. “Why not? Pumpkin needs a sibling.”

“Good night, Baekhyun!”

You rolled over in bed, ignoring the way he whined when you did.
