💖Lazy witchcraft tips💖
-sprinkle a pinch of salt at all entryways to your home to banish unwelcome energy
-place your doormat facing your home to tell any unwanted guests they are not welcome (if your doormat says welcome or hello this is especially recommended)
-charge your drinking water for the next day in the moonlight! I like to put tea and herbs in a clear container to steep under the moon (i use cold water and leave it out overnight outside or on a windowsill)
-too tired to do a full tarot draw? Pull one card for summary of your question or three for past present and future insight.
-adding a few drops of essential oil to a humidifier will help purify your home when you are too tired or busy to do a proper cleanse(make sure your humidifier can handle essential oils and that it is safe for your pets!), you also can steep herbs on the stove at a low setting for a similar result (and smells great!) just make sure to open a window so whatever your banishing can leave
-when cleansing a room with sage, palo santo, etc use counterclockwise motions to banish(note: counterclockwise=banish, clockwise=welcoming)
-keep sigils in your wallet, purse, etc to attract what you wish to manifest

So I'm cleaning and packing for the move and I found my old dream journal from 10 years ago AND my aunts pocket journal that she kept in her last years on earth and uuhh.... How do I bring up to my conservative Christian mother that her older sister was a divination witch and knew the entire time about me and knew when she was dying? She already knows her mother use to to read tea leaves but she looks at that negatively and I do not want to ruin another perspective she has of a dead family member she was close to... on the other side I'm definitely holding on to her journal.

Different Types of Witches
DISCLAIMER: Do not use this blog as your only resource. I am still learning myself and if any of this information is incorrect feel free to drop me a message and I will correct this.
I WILL BE GOING OVER THESE IN MORE DETAIL IN FUTURE POSTS.
Secular VS Religious: This one is pretty self-explanatory. The majority of the time being a witch does not affect the religion that you practice. If you do not feel like religion is in your path, then you do not have to use religion in your practice. You can be religious and have your practice separate, making your practice completely secular.
Solitary VS Coven: You can choose to be a solitary witch and practice on your own. Alternatively, other witches can belong to a group called a coven. Covens tend to practice together and use their combined energies to complete workings and spells.
Air/Fire/Earth/Water Witch: These witches feel very attached to their element and use this element in thier practice. They can be associated to this element through their zodiac sign or just through energetic connection. They tend to use their chosen element in a lot of their workings through multiple methods and sometimes work with deities associated to their chosen element.
Cosmic Witch: A cosmic witch works mainly with planetary and cosmic energy. They use astrology and the moon cycles in their practice.
Crystal Witch: Crystals are commonly used in this witch's practice and they use the energies from the crystals in their practice. Their practice ranges from crystal therapies to charms, to charging the crystals in their chosen method (e.g. sunlight or moonlight).
Draconic Witch: This is one that I find extremely interesting myself and I am currently researching at this moment in time. These witches work with draconic spirits in their practice. Draconian magick is, by definition, magick that is fuelled by the symbolism and energies of Dragons.
Earth Witch: An earth with is very deeply connected to the earth element; they use a lot of nature in their workings, work with earth deities, and most likely will use things that they have collected from nature within their workings. They tend to be very centered individuals and if they develop their practice they move very naturally between the natural world and day to day world.
Eclectic Witch: Eclectic witches tend to pick aspects of different paths/traditions and use these to form their own unique practice. Because of this, no eclectic witch's path will look the same.
Elemental Witch: Elemental witches work with all four elements and sometimes fifth, they consider the spirit element and use all of those throughout all of their workings. They are not more associated witch any specific element as they use all of them.
Faery Witch: These witches work with the Fae. They leave offerings for the Fae, set up altars for the Fae, and the fae help them in their magical workings.
Gardnerian Witch: Gardnerian witches follow a sect of wicca. The Gardnerian religion was set up by Gerald Gardner and is a closed religion.
Green witch: Green Witches work very closely to nature through working with herbs, tree spirits of any nature gods/goddesses. It is possible to be a green witch in a city - you just need to find the right environmental spaces for your practice.
Hearth Witch: Generally a combination of green witchcraft and kitchen witchcraft, these witches are sometimes referred to as cottage witches. This witchcraft surrounds the home and hearth of the people within it. Their practice tends to be only done for the home using things around their home and for the people in their home.
Hedge Witch: I find this type of witchcraft very interesting as these witches walk the hedge between the spiritual world and the real world. This is a very traditional folklore type of witch.
Hereditary Witch: These witches have family members that are also witches who have passed down their craft through their lineage. This does not just mean being born into a witch family. They can also have spells/rituals/grimoires etc that have been handed down through the family.
Kitchen Witch: Kitchen witches do a lot of witchcraft (as you probably guessed) in the kitchen. They use a lot of ingredients and spells in their cooking to serve to people in their home. They also can use their food to bless the people that eat this through different herbs/ingredients and intentions.
Lunar/Solar witch: Lunar witches are deeply connected to the moon and lunar cycles. They can include things like the tides and the moon cycles in their workings. They tend to feel very energised by the moon. Solar witches however are deeply connected to the sun and like to use the sun in almost all of their workings.
Pop Culture Witch: This witchcraft is relatively new from what I can gather. They use pop-culture in their witchcraft. For example, using incantations or sigils found in movies/tv shows.
Sea Witch: Sea witches are closely connected to the ocean and currents. Different witches can be associated with different bodies of water (e.g. river witchcraft/lake witchcraft). Sea witches generally live close to the sea and have a particular ocean that calls to them. They tend to collect ocean water, seaweed, seashells, etc and use these in their workings.
Seasonal Witch: Seasonal witches do their workings and practice in correlation with any season. They can be tied to a specific season if they choose to do so. For example, spring witches would use a lot of blooming flowers and rain water in their workings.
Sigil Witch: A sigil is a symbol that you can draw on things. There is a lot of intention behind this and you do usually have to make these in a particular way through putting thought and effort behind this.
Storm Witch: This is very self explanatory. These witches use storm energy in their practice and workings. I am currently researching this practice and will most likely post more about this in the future.
Tech Witch: This is a very modern form of witchcraft that involves modern technology. For example, using apps to track different parts of your practice.
Urban Witch: Urban Witches use city surroundings and the lights/sounds in the city in their witchcraft as apposed to using nature.

Late Night Thoughts: Ancestors I Knew
Occasionally, I find myself thinking of when my great grandmothers were alive.
My father's mother's mother was fierce and protective. She would rule the household with an iron fist one moment and then the next be turning around with a soft, loving grin and feeding me greasy, tasty morsels off her plate, whispering of secrets, familial and spiritual. She taught me much, despite our on-again, off-again language barriers. I knew her until my late teens; we had developed a translation system of sorts between the two of us, when her languages were more unsteady, one of hands and looks and vessels. I reveled in her presence, in the way she carried her craft and her history with her as a cloak about her shoulders, and she scolded any of my cousins who tried to unravel our family's traditions or their beginnings. She had a way of glancing at you, of imparting with words that what's done is done; existence, perseverance is all. She was smaller than everyone by more than a few heads, but her existence was radiance.
My father's father's mother I called "the middle" when I was younger - her non-English name being too complex for me to pronounce, but she loved the nicknames all the same - was very similar. She'd whack my grandfather and his brother with her solid wood cane for touching her sweets and then scoop the same treat up in a napkin on her palms to deposit on my plate. She'd glare with barely muted thunderous rage at them and pat my head while she spoke of, in part, what's now more akin to the idea of the divine feminine/masculine - though from her ways, more closely related to yin and yang and existence. Often, her gaze would grow distant, and all at once she would emphatically urge my sister and I to grow up strong, independent, soft only for those who proved themselves, and then smile easily, already diverting from questions she didn't want to answer. She loved our strong names, and she would expend all her energy fawning over us, tying charms into knots in our hair, singing soft melodies in her native tongue. Without fail, she always saved a bit of herself to club her sons for wrestling in her living room one last time and then usher us out, swatting and blowing at invisible evil eyes crowding our crowns as we went.
My mother's mother's mother, I barely remember. I remember her home more than anything. The pale yellow paint on the outside, the picket fence, the row of herbs growing in the window above her kitchen sink, the cinnamon and spice scented cabinet where she hid her best treats for her grandchildren. I remember the scratchy softness of her plush sofa beneath my palms and the click of her knitting needles over the hum of her space heater. Admittedly, it is hard to think of her. I cannot forget the slow back and forth motion of her rocking chair, bumped by one of my flustered aunts perhaps, gliding, creaking, moving as if breathing, as she'd lain motionless in her bed. In my mind's eye, I can see her puffy, wrinkled cheeks on either side of a thin-lipped, red and mischievous grin. And vaguely, I hear her gradual, light chuckle against my ear. She was a good hugger, I think, and from what others tell me, she loved to laugh and pull pranks, on strangers and loved ones alike. I did not know her long, but it feels accurate to think of her as such.
When my sisters and I grow older, I hope we are similar. I hope we carry the same impactful, quiet reserve of strength that my great grandmothers had. Selfishly, I hope we have more answers as well.

Aside from their unverifiable nature, the main issue I take is that these [claims of hereditary witchcraft] aren’t really claims at all much of the time; often they’re simply boasts designed to lend the claimant authority [...] Such claims increase the level of ones social status and give the claimant social currency in certain circles. This desire or need for authority is, as I see it, a psycho-sociological disfigurement inherited from the seeds of individualism that were sewn during the Protestant Reformation -— as opposed to the collective and communal “flock” mentality of Catholicism that prioritized the group over the individual — which now unconsciously colors our understanding of concepts like community, meaning, belonging, and authenticity (topics I’ll explore as time goes on). Another problem with our modern day social scene is our empowerment culture, which is practically synonymous with authority seeking.

My grandmother's bell cabinet. I remember this being in her dining room and her placing many of her bells within.
It sits now where I read books and cards.
Her hand mirror hangs from it. I hung it there on the cabinet feeling it belonged.
Within it I have Que Sera stone. Que Sera Sera is a song she used to sing to me.
Within as well are my mystical manga tarot cards and my crystal ball.
And of course to keep with tradition a couple of my bells are placed within.
