His laughter rings out over the dilapidated ruins of Edge Knot city; the sound all too quickly swallowed up by the dead air permeating everything.

“And here I thought you wanted to SEE SOME FIREWORKS! But don’t worry, your old buddy Higgs brought some just in case you didn’t.” The man is quick to fish out his own grenade---an actual grenade----before beginning to toss it far too casually in the air one handed with the still affixed pin at the top practically winking at her with each toss. “Your grenade isn’t very fun, you know that? It just makes a loud noise and sprays blood everywhere and it might scare or disrupt a few of my little pets, sure, but this one here? This one is the REAL DEAL.” Higgs throws it upwards with more force now, the weapon making an audible, almost harsh slap as it eventually lands in his gloved palm. And too bad so sad for her but he has restless fingers...

And then he throws it upwards one last time with his hand following after it in order to give it a short space in which to fall---and to show off the glint of the now dislodged pin around his index finger. Idle hands are the tools of the devil, or some such, and this man was devil incarnate. The sound of bomb landing in his hand is almost drowned out by the crunch of gravel as the porter standing before him turns to run, her mind no doubt working out what he was about to do a second too late.

“ONE EXPLOSION is waayyyy better than none at all~!! Let’s see how durable your cargo is!!” He hurls the bomb at her back with another gleeful laugh and a much too loud snap---the sound of which no doubt makes her jump, maybe even trip---as he teleports ahead of her in an effort to CUT OFF HER ESCAPE ROUTE.

"I don't like what happened to Selar in Memory Beta canon. It's not the fact that Selar went into pon farr for someone whose species is both male and female, because that doesn't bother me at all. (Though there are better names for the love interest's species than Hermat, which sounds like hermaphrodite, an outdated and slur word for intersex people). I just hate that Selar and her son's other biological parent had a stupid custody battle over their child, which ended up getting Selar killed."

this is random BUT!

I found this random dude named Aleister Crowley.

Obviously as a Good Omens fan I got excited.

+ almost the same initials!! AJC and AC. or, without other names, AC and AC!

FIRST OF ALL.

SO MANY COLLEGES.

Second: This man is an occultist which is just kinda cool. Third of all: he founded an entire religion??? Fourth of all, he has the same name as Crowley so of course I had to investigate further.

So here’s some fun facts about Mr Crowley that make me really hope AJC was named after him:

• He was allegedly recruited to be part of a British Intelligence Agency, and was probably a spy his entire life. that’s badass

• Basically his religion, Thelema, was created when this god in Cairo, Egypt gave him a Book of Law on his honeymoon or something. And it was like “you gotta find your true will, and practice majick.” So they made a religion out of it

• Now here’s the best part: he was bisexual. yeah that’s right.

• He dated a guy named Herbert Charles Pollitt, who was part of a comedy club. that’s just really fun

• He LOVED Scotland, and he would wear traditional highland dress even in London

• He was part of the Hermatic Order of the Golden Dawn, but was basically cast out because he was bisexual, which sucks

• He had an affair with Ada Leverson, a woman who was friends with Oscar Wilde

Obviously he did some strange shit too, like a blood sacrifice at one point, and like so many affairs.

But he definitely made his way around and survived a couple diseases, like malaria, as well as both world wars, before dying at the old age of 72 (when the life expectancy was about 64). He was cremated and scattered in his garden in Hampton, New Jersey.

So yeah. There’s my interesting history fact for the day, I guess. Who knows, maybe this guys inspired the Anthony J. Crowley. I don’t have the courage to tag Mr Gaiman so someone else ask haha

Lieutenant Sayako-34 Madison - Tied for the title of youngest member of the USS Sorcerer's senior staff at only 27 years old, and serving as Chief Flight Controller, Sayako-34 began their Starfleet career as a shuttle pilot on Earth Spacedock.

Graduating Starfleet Academy in 2407, Sayako-34 spent 2 years shuttling VIPs to and from San Francisco. Quickly growing bored with this routine, the young Hermat requested that they be re-assigned to a long range Starfleet vessel. Their request would be granted on July 7, 2409, the day before the Iconian War would begin, joining the crew of the Defiant-class USS Belfast (captained by Captain Va'Kel Shon, later famous for captaining the USS Enterprise-F during the Iconian War). The Belfast would be destroyed in one of the first battles of the war. Sayako-34 would survive the Belfasts' destruction, though injured. Once they recovered, they were re-assigned to the USS Sorcerer in 2410, fighting alongside the crew during the rest of the conflict, meeting their eventual fiancee Lieutenant Elsie Madison, now the Sorcerer's Chief Operations Officer, in the process. Again surviving the crippling of their starship during the Battle of Midnight, this time uninjured, Sayako-34 and Elsie would be re-assigned to the ship when it was recommissioned in 2416.

Golden Dawn: What is Hermeticism?

Hermeticism is a religious and philosphical system based on the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus (Hellenistic conflation of the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth) produced over approx. c. 300 BCE - 1200 CE.

One of the most common uses of the label is to refer to the religio-philosophical system propounded by a specific subgroup of Hermetic writings known as the 'religio-philosophical' Hermetica, the most famous of which are the Corpus Hermeticum (a collection of seventeen Greek Hermetic treatises written between c. 100 and c. 300 CE) and the Asclepius (a treatise from the same period mainly surviving in a Latin translation).

Hermeticism was closely associated with the idea of a primeval, divine wisdom, revealed only to the most ancient of sages, such as Hermes Trismegistus. In the Renaissance, this developed into the notion of a prisca theologia or "ancient theology", which asserted that there is a single, true theology which was given by God to some of the first humans, and traces of which may still be found in various ancient systems of thought.

Philosophy

God as “The All” -  The ultimate reality is called by many names, such as God, Lord, Father, the Creator, the All, the One, etc. However, specific to the Hermetic view of the divinity is that it is both the all and the creator of the all. God (”the All”) creates itself, and is both transcendent (as the creator) and immanent (as the created cosmos).

As Above, So Below - Appears in its most widely divulged Latin translations as:

Quod est superius est sicut quod inferius, et quod inferius est sicut quod est superius. That which is above is like to that which is below, and that which is below is like to that which is above.

Prisca theologica - The doctrine that a single, true theology exists, that is exists within all religions, and that it was given by God to man. Christians appropriate the Hermatic teachings for their own purposes to demonstrate the truth of this doctrine themselves. By this account, Hermes Trismegistus was (according to the fathers of the Christian church) either a contemporary of Moses himself or the third in line of men named Hermes (Enoch, Noah, then Hermes Trismegistus). 

Three parts of the wisdom of the whole universe - A phrase derived from the Emerald Tablet, referring to three disciplines purportedly taught by Hermes Trismegistus.

Alchemy (operation of the sun, an investigation into the spiritual constitution of life, of matter, and material existence through an application of the queries into birth, death, and potential resurrection. Seen as the key to theurgy). 

Astrology

Theurgy (”operation of the gods”, one of two different types of magic. The Goetia - black magic reliant on an alliance with evil spirits, i.e. demons, and theurgy - divine magic reliant on an alliance with divine spirits i.e. angels, gods)

Fall of Man - 

Man observed the creation of nous and received from God man's authority over all creation. Man then rose up above the spheres' paths in order to better view creation. He showed the form of the All to Nature. Nature fell in love with the All, and man, seeing his reflection in water, fell in love with Nature and wished to dwell in it. Immediately, man became one with Nature and became a slave to its limitations (desires such as sex, necessities such as sleep). In this way, man became speechless (having lost "the Word") and he became "double", being mortal in body yet immortal in spirit, and having authority over all creation yet subject to destiny.

Religious and Philosophical Texts

The Corpus Hermeticum -  17 chapters, which hold dialogues between Hermes Trismegistus and a series of other men. The first chapter contains a dialogue between Poimandres and Hermes. Poimandres teaches the secrets of the universe to Hermes. In later chapters, Hermes teaches others, such as his son Tat and Asclepius.

The Emerald Tablet -  A short work attributed to Hermes Trismegistus which was highly regarded by Islamic and European alchemists as the foundation of their art. The text of the Emerald Tablet first appears in a number of early medieval Arabic sources, the oldest of which dates to the late eighth or early ninth century.

The Asclepius - A.K.A. The Perfect Sermon, The Perfect Discourse, or The Perfect Teaching. Written in the second or third century, and is similar in content to the Corpus Hermeticum. 

History

When Hermeticism was no longer endorsed by the Christian church, it was driven underground, and several Hermetic societies were formed. The work of such writers as Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, a man who attempted to reconcile Jewish kabbalah and Christian mysticism, brought Hermeticism into a context more easily understood by the variety of Europeans gaining the skill to read during the time of the Renaissance.

Hermetic magic underwent a 19th-century revival in Western Europe, where it was practiced by groups such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Many Hermetic, or Hermetically influenced, groups exist today. Most of them are derived from Rosicrucianism or the Golden Dawn.

There’s something about having a grandmother who was clearly a witch, a mom who doesn’t claim it due to religious indoctrination but has always been a natural herbalist, Manifestor, glamor witch and healer. Then I come; a whole astrologer, drawn to hermatic teachings, with clair-senses and more. And everyday I hear stories and go ‘and y’all didn’t know how?’.

As a fetus I had old bitch scrambling to x me, only for me to stand before them years later, depsite curses, hexes and other failed attempts, smiling in their pitiful faces. They don’t know I know, but at the same time — I know they know I *giggle*

From what I’ve learned from my spiritual journey is most often doing nothing but living your best life is enough. Those demons they refuse to face will be their demise once they can’t run anymore.
