there was this headcanon that i Think about ALL THE TIME about how Cleo cannot regenerate her skin. so the Hermits donate theirs. except Cleo decides to make it a funny psychological horror where she chases them (hermits who consent/have almost normal body) down for sport.

shes a Hermit so OF COURSE they'll help but like god you just gonna chase us down? slowly? like a a damn horror movie? huh? okay. rude. so they trade favors and bribe her to get moved down the list.

i have NO IDEA who made it i had to have seen it 2-3 years ago but its just one of those things in my general belief system. because all the cHermits are just freaks to me

doll grian headcanon that he has a squeaker in him

im just imagining someone hugging him, hearing him squeak and being all confused until they realize the squeaking came from inside him

Mumbo was the first person on Hermitcraft to find this out. (Pearl already knew, because she'd known Grian longer, but she wasn't a hermit yet when Grian first was.) Grian swore Mumbo to secrecy.

Scar is also a very huggy person. And despite Grian's protests, Scar will not.

Stop.

SQUEAKING him.

And of course now that Scar knows, EVERYONE knows, because Scar will hug or punch or shove Grian to squeak him whenever it might be a funny moment to do so. So now half the server has this little game where, when they visit, they run or fly at Grian, trying to hit juuuust the right spot, colliding with him and squeaking him before Grian can dodge out of the way.

Grian might begrudgingly admit that it has gotten kind of funny.

actually i dont think ive mentioned my impulse headcanon here so im gonna talk about it

does anyone else remember season seven? where impulse said "i think i'm human", then laughed it off as a joke? well that line lives in my brain rent free. he thinks hes human. but hes not sure.

and really, why would he be? he was summoned. he eats amethysts. he seems to be drawn towards totems, and he likes to sort items (literally invented the item sorter). what else fits that?

totems come from evokers. vexes are summonable. allays duplicate when given amethyst, and they also love to sort. impulse feels like something related to them.

vexes and allays are like. minecraft fae. impulse.... is a changeling.

hes human shaped, but not quite the same. he thinks hes human. he grew up with humans and never knew he was anything else. but there is something off about him, some traits that betray his true nature. back in season seven, he didnt know. he was starting to question it. i wonder if he knows by now.

and if hes a changeling, i wonder who he replaced.

I really like those fics where Tango has like a body temperature that runs very hot so people keep cuddling up to him whenever it's cold. But have this take: his body temperature runs hot, so that means even in conditions that the 'normal body temperature' hermits think are fine or even slightly warm, he's absolutely freezing.

Honestly there are many scenarios you could make from this, but a personal favourite that has been in my mind for a bit is Zedaph finding out. Zedaph who lives to see, to know, to experiment and to fix. Don't ask them how (they can never tell anyone lest the information somehow comes across Impulse, who they are sure would lecture them to the regularly sized moon and back), but somehow Zed and Tango found out the latter is immune to lava.

So after particularly chilly days (for Tango meaning: a light spring day), it would not be uncommon to be directed to the 'bathhouse' Zed had built, after Impulse deemed the two of them simply making a lava bath in Tango's own base would be too risky, if you were looking for the netherborn. In these moments, he would indeed often be found in said bathhouse, where he could be seen with just barely his eyes and tips of his ears poking out of the mildly threatening pool of lava, until he had to come up for air and to greet whatever guest decided to visit him in his little slice of nether-comfort amongst the overworld.

(For anyone wondering: no, sadly lava does not bubble like water if you breathe out underneath the surface, Tango was Not Happy with this discovery himself)

Compared to a player Grian is an extremely powerful coder. But compared to his old fellow Watchers he's one of the weakest Watchers in terms of control over his power. He escaped the Watchers before his control could be improved. Until Pearl (a fellow player turned Watcher) joined Hermitcraft and helped him improve his control over his powers he couldn't use his wings to fly. Opening them would show him so many visions he would at best feel sick and at worst completely pass out and shut down.

I have a Headcannon that nohermit knew that Grian and Mumbo were friends before Hermitcraft.

So everyone was just sort of shocked when Grian immediately went to Mumbo and the way they seemed to immediately be-friend each other

And yes, Grian thought it would be funny to not tell anyone and made Mumbo (And later Pearl) not tell anyone either. So the Hermits just think Grian and Mumbo just gravitated towards each other >:3

etho is more in tune with decked out than any of the other players are. second only to the dungeon master himself. and its starting to do something to him.

nothing that would interfere with the game, of course. but when outside it, he finds himself moving swifter, finding just a little more loot than normally expected when he goes exploring. ravagers give friendly headbutts instead of attacking. hes always been pretty good with cold, but now hes perfectly comfortable below freezing and can walk across powdered snow without leather boots.

a more obvious side effect is that whenever he touches fire, it turns blue. hes always had an affinity for blue flame but now he doesnt even have to burn diamonds for it!

ignore the streaks of icy blue in his hair. ignore the sharpened teeth hidden below his mask.

In the universe of Minecraft, there are two types of "worlds". Common and Hardcore.

Common enables respawn but the world only exists for a set period of time. It is difficult to determine when the world is going to end, and when it does, the players will either continue to a new world, or their journey will end(aka it is the last time they play). Now that doesn't mean the world cannot be destroyed. For example, the world of Hermitcraft 8 was destroyed by the moon and the players were not transferred until the world expired.

Hardcore is different, it does not have a set time of disabling, nor has respawn. The world ends when the final person dies. When they die, they will be transferred to a new world, or their journey ends.

Scar was very unlucky with his birth world. It was unlucky to be born in a Hardcore world, and his life became especially difficult. When he was young when a zombie apocalypse hit, and not long after he was old enough to care for himself, he was orphaned. He struggled to survive. He broke his leg and it didn't heal properly, causing a limp(which eventually did cause him to have a wheelchair when transferred). Over time, due to his brain blocking out the traumatic memories, and no one speaking to him, he forgot his name. Over time, he began to refer to himself as Scar, due to the amount of scarring all over his body and the name of his gun.

Eventually, when he died to zombies, he was transferred to a new world, a common world known as KingdomCraft. It was scary at first, being around so many people. Eventually, he began to realize he had separation issues and was very touch deprived. KingdomCraft was where he met Jellie, his now beloved cat.

He grew very close to people as he was transferred time after time, still retaining his terrifying fear of zombies. It tends to startles people he doesn't know very well when he kills zombies so brutally.

How the Hermits escaped the Moon

I have very specific thoughts on the ways each hermit got from s8 to s9 and I've never had the chance to put them all together, or even mention most of them... I've categorized them and after each list I'll put some explanations of the more specific/less intuitive situations.

Cub and Jevin... they tried. They're in another section of this list that I'll explain there. I don't buy the simulation thing, so Doc and Ren just had access to a ship - Renbob still gets to be their pilot, but it's just them. (They stopped over at some place Bob knew to get Ren some proper and disguised cybernetics instead of the haphazard spare-parts job he'd been dealing with all s8.) xB, False, and Wels are basically just following canon, with the note that Keralis doesn't technically need a ship to survive in space and probably got onto xB's ship by clinging to the outside until xB noticed. Beef didn't have a canon exit - but his base for the entire season was an unearthed alien spaceship, so it's only logical that that would be his mode of escape!

Anyone who was planetside and didn't canonically Leave, would have had to be rescued by an admin. Hypno helped out, speeding up the evac process and coming up with a way of keeping these hermits safe and in some sort of stasis until a hospitable planet 9 could be found. Bdubs went kicking and screaming, but the others were understandably glad to have the way out.

We don't actually know from canon where Gem went. Despite Wizard Gem supposedly being a different character, the amethyst and timing would make Empires 1 make sense as a destination. Plus, Gem and Pearl flew in from Empires in the first place. Xisuma and Cleo are pretty much just what's seen in canon. Cleo might have gotten some help from the resident Voidling - see the last section.

Void Travel (down)

Boatem. Void travel is similar to space travel, but a little more wormhole-y. And unlike a couple of the spacefarers, Boatem had both spacesuits and a pretty good method of transport in Pearl, whose natural dragon form is just about big enough to carry four friends - two on her back, and two in her claws.

Was off-world at the time

Iskall and Stress had been taking an extended stay in their Vault Hunting world while all this went down. They didn't find out immediately, but as soon as they did, Stress volunteered herself to help bring hermits to safety.

Yeah I don't know either. I haven't decided whether to headcanon an Xisuma rescue/some other logical method, or have "fly away from the problem, in atmosphere, on elytra" actually work. The latter option is very Joe, and the cartoon logic is very tempting.

I've talked about Voidling Stress recently; she's by far the best-equipped hermit for space travel. She would have also zipped around to direct Pearl and the various spacecraft in the right direction, but three hermits found themselves adrift in space... Cub. Did you really think a llama would get you anywhere?? So Cub might have dug out his old Vex mask for some magical air assist, but that thing's meant more for high-atmosphere than no atmosphere. It fed him enough air to keep him alive, barely, but barely conscious and without a ship, he wasn't going much of anywhere. (Stress was quite distressed to realize that the llama hadn't made it.) Jevin fared only slightly better. He'd been banking on not actually needing to breathe at all, and on his flying machine doing all the moving, but hadn't factored in the fact that space is COLD. And also he does occasionally need air, he just doesn't always realize it... Stress found him in a frozen torpor, clinging to a slimeblock flying machine that was very slowly trundling off in slightly the wrong direction. And Tango... well. We know what happened to Tango. Ironically, he was the only one of the three who was semi-conscious when Stress found him... until his rescue, he mostly wished he wasn't.

This is going under the cut because I couldn't fit it in the flow of the rest. I've written one fic with all of this in mind - just, instead of listing things directly, it's about the emotional aftermath of a few of the hermits who may have had it worst, and Stress still helping them out even after they've been safely rescued.

Little does he know that this is the least of his worries.

Shells in the Foam (a Hermit!Tommy fanfic) - Cedarwhisp21

When Dream attacks Tommy in Logestshire, Tommy runs. Badly injured, he somehow manages to slip between worlds and wakes up in a badlands biome, on a server far from home, with no other players in sight.

The Hermits are surprised when a new player logs in, and confused when no-one's at spawn. Five days later, after waiting for the new player to introduce themselves, Xisuma uses his admin abilities to access their coordinates. He takes Impulse with him to welcome the new player to Hermitcraft, but instead of the beginnings of a base, they find something a lot more concerning.

NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION. the NUMBER ONE kudo-ed hermit fic . by my beloved. and using the one of the beloved au by pertrichormeraki . its so good and im sooo glad i was here for the ride of seeing it unfold <3

Idk if you allow ships, but like, Vex Scar who likes to affectionately bite Grian

While shipping isn't the main focus of our blog, we are okay with the occasional non-explicit one as long as it's focused on non-human features!

Vex bites aren't inherently dangerous. If bitten by a vex that's just been summoned, it's about as bad as a bite from a cat. Vexes need time to build up their magic, as most of the magic when they've just been created is used to maintain their form. Most of them die before they can move past this.

With Scar it's a bit different. He's been out in the world for ages eating vex magic and diamonds. There's a lot of it in his body, especially as he hasn't used it as much lately. So if he's not careful with his love nips, Grian might end up with some leftover vex magic. It'll be temporary, just until it's used up or dissipates, but it's probably more dangerous for the rest of the server than Grian himself. Grian with vex magic is something that shouldn't be unleashed.

Headcanon that Bdubs just.. falls asleep the second the sun is fully behind the horizon. Like no more sun? Immediately he is out, no matter where he is.

But take this into account: imagine Hermitcraft is one of those places where for a period of time the sun does not go down, but that also means there is a period where the sun does not come up.

So Bdubs just has a few months a year where he does not shreep sleep but then half a year later he literally hibernates.

I like to think the other hermits would help him 'prep' for the hibernation months and check up on him in whatever hidey hole he picked out during.

Bonus thingy: Bdubs is out with a fellow hermit and doesn't notice it getting darker, so suddenly without him even realising it he just slumps forward suddenly fully asleep.

There's a game going on on Hermitcraft. Most of the hermits have a tendency to fall asleep in the weirdest places. So a game started where they try to take pictures of each other sleeping in those weird places. Some of the best ones to date are:

Scar asleep on top of the boatem pole, Grian asleep on top of the Entity, Tango asleep meters away from a Ravager, False asleep just floating in the sea and Bdubs sleeping curled up on his moon.

Allegedly theres a picture of Evil X asleep cuddled up against his brother, but both EX and Xisuma vehemently deny this.
