ok so superhero whump scenario:
Villain is Hero's favourite 'bad guy' to fight. Villain never really hurts anyone with their actions, and anything they steal is usually anonymously returned within a few days. The worst crime they've really committed is property damage. Hero is convinced they're just doing it for fun, as evidenced by Villain's very melodramatic and performatively cheesy attitude during their confrontations
Eventually, Villain disappears. Hero assumes they just decided to put down their cape and mask, though is a little saddened that they now don't have any real 'comic relief' in their day-to-day villain fighting.
A few months later, Hero is in Superhero's HQ when they come across a locked door they hadn't noticed before. Overcome with curiosity, they figure out how to get it open and take a peek inside.
Even without their iconic costume or mask, Hero would recognise Villain anywhere. Villain looks awful. Emaciated, bruised, scarred, curled up in a shivering ball in the corner of what Hero now recognises as a cell. How long has Superhero kept them here? And why? Hero doesn't know, all they do know is that this is wrong, and that their old rival needs their help, Superhero be damned.

Short Prompt #17
“Wait-” One word left the Hero frozen in their tracks. Behind them they heard the soft shifting of fabric and a choked whisper. “Don’t leave me, please.”
They turned. Against every warning, every regulation, they faced the Villain. The sight before them nearly knocked the breath from their lungs. Bleeding, frightened, half-conscious. Their enemy no longer appeared as the Villain Hero had come to know so well.
Villain coughed, a gut-wrenching wheeze that splattered red upon the concrete. Again they looked up with a gaze so pitiful that Hero felt their heart wrench. “Help-”
For the first time, Hero rushed to the Villain’s side without hesitation.

One of my favorite tropes has got to be a sick villain waking up on the hero's couch, initially calm with the knowledge they're comfortable and being looked after, until they try and move and find their hands cuffed above them

Whumpuary 2024 Day 14
14. (Jan 27-28) Flinching / Breakdown / Sleep Deprivation
cw past trauma, implied noncon/torture, hurt/comfort, aftermath of whump
“You’re slower than usual,” Hero teased when they pinned Villain to the wall. “Lost your edge after that little vacation you took?”
Villain was breathing heavily. Their hands grasped at Hero’s, which were fisted in the front of their suit, but Villain lacked their typical strength. “Wasn’t a vacation, you jerk,” they huffed. “And I’m doing my best here.”
Hero pulled one of their hands back, and their heart jumped when Villain flinched away from them; they’d never reacted like that before. The instinctual fear was clearly visible in their eyes.
“Whoa, hey,” Hero said softly. “I was just gonna—your mask is slipping.”
Villain looked down, frowning. “Sorry. I just...go ahead.”
Hero raised their hands slowly and adjusted Villain’s mask, noting the sharp intake of breath when Hero’s fingers grazed their cheek. As they put it back in place, Hero could see a dark bruise hiding under the mask. The slightest bit of purple spread up their cheekbone.
Villain was trembling when Hero stepped back.
“Are you okay?” Hero asked. Logically, they knew they should take advantage of Villain’s weakness and bring them in. But they just couldn’t bring themself to be that cruel.
“When I was gone this week,” Villain whispered, “I was...Supervillain took me hostage. I’ll spare you the details but...they did some shit to me I wouldn’t even do to my enemies.”
Hero felt their heart ache at the admission and the pained expression in Villain’s eyes when they looked back up. “I’m sorry, I—I had no idea.”
“Not your fault,” Villain said with a shrug. They tried to force a smile as well, but it didn’t quite work. “But it messed me up pretty good. I can’t sleep. I can’t move without remembering their hands on me.”
A sick feeling curled in Hero’s stomach as they imagined what the normally collected Villain must have been through to have them on the verge of tears at the memory. They slowly reached out, giving Villain enough time to stop them—but when they didn’t, Hero pulled them into an embrace. “It’s over,” they muttered into Villain’s hair. “You're safe now.”
Their words seemed to open the floodgates, and suddenly Villain broke down. Hero didnt know what to do, so they just held their nemesis as they cried. The fact that they’d been in the middle of a fight passed through Hero’s mind, but it didn’t matter now. They were a hero—their job was to help people. Even if those people regularly made their life hell.
“I’m sorry,” Villain choked out. “This is pathetic. And I—I deserved it.”
“No one deserves to be hurt like that,” Hero said, rubbing their back in soothing circles.
Villain tried to steady their breathing as they looked up at Hero, eyes glistening with tears. “Thank you. Just—give me a minute, and we can get back to it.”
“What do you say we get a rain check,” Hero asked with a small smile, “and you let me buy you a coffee instead?”
Villain sniffled and rolled their eyes. “As long as you promise to reschedule. Because I was looking forward to kicking your ass.”
Hero laughed. “Okay, deal.”
Although the coffee may not have truly fixed anything, it was a welcomed comfort.

Whump Prompt 295
“Please, Hero. It wasn’t my idea! I never even wanted to do it in the first place!”
“But you did,” Hero glowered as they approached Villain, backing them into a corner.
“Please, I didn’t want to...” Villain whimpered. “It was Supervillain, I swear! I tried to tell them, I told them it was a bad idea! It was too much! Sidekick was never supposed to—”
“Don’t!” Hero grabbed Villain’s throat and pinned them against the wall. Villain clawed for air, trying to pull their iron grip away in vain.
“You don’t get to say their name! You don’t get to pretend like you’re the innocent one here!” They lifted Villain up against the wall, indifferent to their legs kicking and the pained choking groans they made.
“Sidekick is fighting for their life because of you. They... They could die because of you!”
“P—Please... H—Hero...”
“I won’t kill you, Villain. Not yet. First, you going to know exactly how much Sidekick is suffering because of you. And you better hope to the ends of the earth that they wake up.”

Apparently I went ahead and just wrote "villain being drugged and taken care of by hero doctors" because why not.
Masterlist
TW: injury, concussion, drugging, abuse
Oh, he'd really fucked up this time. Already so weary, at the end of his rope, he failed to notice the energy blast coming from the youngest member of the hero team, the one who struggled to keep her powers under control. He knew how badly he'd fucked up when his back hit the wall, pain exploding from every muscle, especially the parts of his back where his boss had already punished him. His head impacted the concrete with a sickening crack that made him see stars.
Villain sank helplessly to the sidewalk, his body refusing to obey his commands. Through his blurred vision, he could see the painfully bright costumes of the hero team, and he tried to struggle to his feet. He couldn't fail here. It simply wasn't an option. Failure meant risking the wrath of his boss, or worse, being captured and at the mercy of the heroes.
Pain radiated from his knee as he tried to stand. It was broken, maybe. Even more urgently, every tiny movement of his head caused a wave of dizziness, the world tilting and spinning in a nauseating blur. He searched for the word. Concussed, he was concussed. Shit. This was bad.
"Oh god oh god oh god." That was the high pitched voice of the young hero. "Oh god, are you okay? I didn't mean to hit that hard -- oh no oh no --"
Villain tried to answer, but his tongue was thick in his mouth.
"Step aside."
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to hurt him that bad --"
"It's okay, Youngest. Step aside and let me take a look."
Villain would know that voice anytime, anywhere, the smooth and confident voice of his nemesis, the city's most beloved superhero. Powerful, upstanding, and disgustingly rules-abiding. Villain hated him. Hated that he had so much power and had the luxury of helping people with it.
"Villain, speak to me," said Nemesis. "Stay awake. Talk to me. How bad is it?"
Nemesis' face swam into view before Villain's eyes. Fuck, this was really bad. He tried hard to focus. He had to slip away, couldn't let himself be captured. Boss would be furious. He'd hurt Villain so much worse than he'd already been hurt.
"Let me go," Villain managed, but it sounded weak and pathetic.
"I'm not going to hurt you, Villain. You're severely injured. I'm going to get you medical attention."
Villain tried to shake his head no, but all it did was make him twice as dizzy. He felt on the verge of passing out.
"Stay awake, Villain, please, keep those eyes open. Can you see my fingers? How many fingers am I holding up?"
The fingers were nothing more than an indistinct blur. Villain couldn't answer. All he could think of was his boss's unquenchable rage when he learned Villain had fucked up so badly. He could feel it now, power suppressants strapped to each of his limbs, the way the smooth metallic floor of the lair felt against his face as his boss mercilessly beat him for his failures.
"Get up, Villain," said the cruel voice of his boss, as he delivered a sharp kick to Villain's ribs. "Get the fuck up. I don't pay you to cower on the floor."
"I -- I can't --"
"Yes, you can, Villain. You can keep your eyes open," said a much gentler voice. "You can stay awake for me, please, stay awake. The medic is almost here."
It sounded nice. The voice was familiar. He felt himself nodding. A medic. That sounded good.
"That's good, Villain. Stay awake. Just a little more."
A strong hand squeezed his, warm and comforting. Everything hurt except for that. He tried to squeeze back.
"Yes, that's good. I'm here. You're gonna be okay, Villain, we're gonna keep you safe."
Safe. What the fuck was safe? When had he ever been safe? Safety was for people like -- like -- His sluggish mind placed the voice and face. Nemesis. Fuck. He instinctively backed away.
"No, no, it's okay! Just try to relax. I'm not going to hurt you."
"No -- no --" If the punishment Villain's boss doled out was bad, he couldn't imagine what Nemesis might do to him. He'd been a thorn in Nemesis's side for years.
"The medic's here, Villain. Just try to stay calm. I've got you."
Before he could protest further, Villain felt arms picking him up and laying him down on a gurney. His struggle against them was fruitless, his limbs weak and uncoordinated.
"Should we strap him down?" said a voice.
"I think you'd better. He doesn't seem to be all there. And even if he was..."
"Please --" said Villain, too quiet for anyone to even hear, as he felt pressure against his chest and legs, holding him down.
"The concussion seems to be very serious, and there are multiple fractures at a minimum, not to mention the possibility of organ damage and internal bleeding," said a serious voice. "We'll have to administer painkillers and sedatives, and prepare an OR for emergency surgery."
"No!" Villain called out, a surge of adrenaline giving him the strength to fight. "You can't -- you can't capture me -- don't drug me -- let me go!"
Nemesis' firm hands pinned Villain's shoulders to the gurney. "You're going to hurt yourself, Villain. We're getting you medical attention. We're not going to hurt you, I swear it."
Incoherent nightmares filled Villain's foggy mind. "Yes, you are! Yes, you --"
His voice was suddenly muffled by a black rubber mask, and he gulped down a chemical-smelling, drug-laden breath before he realized it. He fell back against the gurney, his head much woozier and dizzier than it had been even a moment before.
"Just try to relax, Villain," said Nemesis. "It's just going to ease your pain and make you drowsy, okay?"
Villain shook his head in a vain attempt to get the mask off his face, but Nemesis' hand was holding it firm. Incapacitating him. Placing Villain at the mercy of the man who must hate him more than anyone. And his struggles were useless, the mask not budging an inch.
Exhausted by his attempts, Villain stopped struggling for a moment and allowed Nemesis's face to come into focus. He didn't look angry. He looked... sad? Villain blinked, and he realized that his eyelids were so heavy. The sedative was kicking in. He was utterly helpless. And he should be terrified of that, but his fear was starting to feel foggy and far away, almost as if he was watching himself from a distance.
"That's good, Villain, you're doing okay. Just keep breathing," said Nemesis.
He sounded so... reassuring. Villain wondered briefly if that was how he sounded when he rescued civilians. Sometimes, on particularly bad nights, he wondered how that would feel. Being an innocent civilian safe in Nemesis' arms, as opposed to a villain fighting tooth and nail just to survive.
"You can shut your eyes now," said Nemesis. "You can go to sleep if you're tired. It's okay. You're safe."
Villain wanted to laugh. He never got to sleep just because he was tired. He was so, so tired, all of the time. And he was so impossibly, incredibly tired now. His knee hurt, his back hurt, his head felt like it was being jackhammered. His heavy eyes wanted so badly to close and stay shut. He just wanted to sleep. But he was in danger, wasn't he? He couldn't sleep here. Boss would kill him. He couldn't... sleep...
"...stronger sedative to put him under..." a voice was saying.
There was the unmistakable feeling of a cold needle in the crook of his elbow. Villain wanted to fight it, stop it from happening, but all he could do was blink his heavy eyelids. "Don't..." he muttered. "Please don't... please..."
"Ssh, Villain, it's okay, I swear," said Nemesis. "I swear no one here is going to hurt you. You're just going to go to sleep, okay? The drugs are going to make you feel really warm and nice and then you'll go to sleep, and nothing bad is going to happen. I promise."
That strong hand squeezed his again. Villain felt so safe, so comforted, and he was so sleepy now, so sleepy and relaxed. The world was just a fading blur beyond his half-closed eyelids. He couldn't feel the pain as much any more. All he wanted to do was sleep. He never got to just sleep. Sleep would make him feel so much better.
"It's okay to sleep," said the reassuring blur. "I'll be right here."
Villain remembered the reason he couldn't go to sleep. "Boss...?" he said weakly. "Boss is gonna..."
"He's not here right now, Villain. I'm here. And I'll protect you while you sleep. No one is going to hurt you."
This had to be a dream. A beautiful dream where he got to sleep and someone was going to protect him from his boss. But he never got nice dreams like that.
"Is it..." His mind was so hazy. He couldn't think of what he was trying to say. "I'm..."
"You're going to sleep, now, Villain. You need to rest. Go to sleep. Shut your eyes. Rest."
"Mmm." He was too tired to argue. It felt so, so good to close his eyes. He could feel his pain fading as he relaxed onto the gurney.
"...surgery... gonna have to..."
"...can't just let him..."
"...right thing to do."
That was the last thing he heard before the sedatives pulled him down into a dreamless sleep.

"I am not apologizing for keeping you alive", Hero grumbled as they placed Villain on a safe place.
"Keeping me alive? You humiliated me! You begged for my life! I rather be dead than live after that."
"Then go jump of a fucking bridge, you ungrateful moron. I don't care. I did what I had to do and I'd do it again."

Okay so I remember a convo we had in call about loving writing wings but you dont usually write them cuz whump wings are usually amputation which you don't mess with, and I dont want whump in general soooooo what about:
Villain has wings, was tortured by supervillain, rescued by hero, still has their wings but they are in bad shape. So hero is helping a shy/withdrawn villain straighten them out, treat their wounds, etc, and then when they are done villain just quietly asks them not to stop touching them cuz it's really calming and they fall asleep ♡
Bonus points for:
-villain being touch starved
-villain blushing, hero calling them cute
Hi Crewe! I would be more than happy to write this for you! Thanks for requesting this, here you go! P.S. I’m sorry it’s so short, I’m not experienced in writing winged characters so I hope it’s okay!
Villain sat perched on an ottoman, while Hero entered the living room with a fresh roll of bandages. They sat behind Villain and examined their wings. Hero cleaned the blood off of Villain’s wing with a damp cloth, applying medicine to the wound then wrapping it in bandages. Villain’s breath suddenly hitched, and Hero quickly pulled away.
“Sorry, I’m trying to be gentle,” Hero said with a sympathetic wince.
“N-no, it isn’t that,” Villain admitted.
Hero tilted their head, puzzled. They started to preen Villain’s feathers for them, and the criminal practically melted into the touch.
“Villain?” Hero asked.
When they received no response, it clicked. Hero began to stroke Villain’s feathers softly, their touch light and gentle. After several minutes, Hero pulled their hand away.
“Don’t stop,” Villain pleaded quietly.
Hero smiled softly. They returned to stroking Villain’s feathers. Villain turned, revealing a blush decorating their features.
“You’re so cute when you’re blushing,” Hero remarked.
Villain’s blush deepened, hiding their face in their good wing. It was only when Villain’s eyes started to droop, and they began to sway on the ottoman did Hero stop petting their wings and circle around to face them.
“Getting sleepy?” Hero asked.
“Hm,” Villain hummed in response.
“Here, come with me.”
Hero took Villain by the hand and led them up to their bedroom. They arranged the pillows and blankets on the bed to accommodate Villain’s wings. They helped Villain climb into the nest.
“Well, uh, if you need anything… you know… just call for me…”
Hero went to leave, but Villain reached out for them weakly.
“Please stay,” they whispered.
Hero blinked, a light blush creeping into their features. Hero nodded mutely, climbing into bed with Villain. Villain covered them with their good wing and snuggled closer to them. Hero carded a hand through their hair until Villain drifted off. Hero made a mental note to destroy Supervillain the minute they got the chance.

No. 29 (Part 2)
////
Part 1 : Hero and Villain share an apartment.
////
Villain couldn’t stop shaking.
He should have waited before going home. His hand slipped around his keys and trembled against the doorknob. As he stood, trying at the lock, his knee bent in, jolting so hard he would’ve crashed down if not for his grip on the doorframe. On his steadier leg, he pivoted. He angled his shoulder and bore his weight along the wall before trying again.
The lock clicked. His key was still readied, quivering in the air.
Hero yanked open the door. His face was set in anger, brows heavy and drawn, and his lip curled, no doubt ready to tell some attempted intrusion off.
“[Name]?” Hero uttered.
“Rough night.” Villain explained, attempting a smile. He swayed as he pushed off the wall, and Hero caught him by the wrist.
“What happened?” He steadied Villain with his other hand, cupping his elbow, and led him in. Villain tried think as Hero held him, but Hero’s fingers were warm. The living room looked warm too, mellowed over by the lamp Hero had probably tugged on before opening the door. Villain closed his eyes. Had it always been so warm?
“[Name]?” Hero tugged again. Villain blinked.
“The carpet,” he relayed to Hero, trying to excuse his pause, “my shoes.”
“I’ll clean it,” Hero assured, swiveling Villain around and onto the couch. Villain fell back. The cushions soaked him up and he held onto the armrest to fight off the sinking sensation that followed. Vertigo. His mind supplied numbly as the world spun, soured, and settled somewhere in the pit of his stomach.
“It’s not your week to do the living room.” Villain breathed out.
“I think I can make an exception,” Hero crouched down, steadying himself with a hand near Villain’s knee. He looked up at Villain and Villain stumbled over a breath. A blanket crease ran over Hero’s cheek and his hair was mussed on the same side, flattened and curled against his temple. His body hung sleep-heavy, but his gaze was sharp. He was always too sharp. Always too close to figuring it all out.
“This happens a lot,” Villain conceded, “I’ll be fine.”
“Are you hurt anywhere?” Hero asked. Villain knew Hero had probably drawn a connection to something —seizures, maybe anxiety—but he thought about the bruises tucked against his ribs and of the ratty tear in his knee. Something weak and wound-licking inside of him wanted to know how Hero would react if he told him.
“Just the shakes. They usually settle down after a few hours.” Villain tried to smile again, but Hero frowned. He rose back up and paused, looking so severe that, for a moment, fear squeezed at Villain shoulders and picked at his throat.
“I’m going to grab some water.”
….
As Hero turned toward the kitchen, Villain sunk into couch, pressing his forehead into the armrest. His muscles ached from the quivering and clenching; each spasm rattled through his body, a phantasmic residue of Supervillain’s power. He recalled how cool the tile had been against his back and how his humiliation and body burned as Henchman dragged him out onto the street, muttering something warbled and sorry.
He’s not himself anymore.
When Hero returned, he considered staying there. The fabric was smooth and his mind was an open sore. But he couldn’t raise more concern. He’d already broken enough rules today.
He took the glass as Hero handed it to him, and the water sloshed, dripping his wrist, cold and slow. He felt it spatter onto his pant leg and gnashed his teeth. At the edge of his vision, Hero had the courtesy to look down, away. Perhaps, he was considering the stains Villain had trodden though carpet.
Villain downed the water like a shot once he was still enough and Hero grabbed the glass before he could even consider the difficulty of setting it down.
Hero placed the glass down on the coffee table, then sat beside it.
“You already know. You know that I’m a hero.”
Villain whipped his head up.
“And if,” he lowered his voice, “if you need help from whatever’s going on, I can give it to you. You’re scared, scared of something and you walk around the apartment like everything’s gonna snap and fall apart if you’re not careful.”
“I—I do know about what you do,” Villain swallowed and licked the spilled water off his lips, “but I don’t need your help.”
“I hear you come in the middle of the night. I hear you unbuckling and buckling the med kit.” Hero gestured towards his ears. He’s enhanced. Villain’s stomach dropped. “I don’t know if it’s a debt, a relationship or a job. And you don’t have to tell me, but I need you to know that you’re not alone and that I’m worried about you.”
“[Hero]…” Villain choked, horrified by the burning in eyes.
Ever since that night in the bathroom, he’d treated Hero like a stranger—a stranger who’d he held in his arms and washed the blood from his brow. He was civil and cruel, unbending to the Hero’s cowed posture and searching gaze. He used courtesy to hook into anything Hero left bared: Good evening. Good bye. Good day.
His ‘hello’ had rung the hollowest that following morning. He’d found Hero in the bathroom, staring at the tile, scrubbed bone-white, their time together scraped away by antiseptic, baking soda and the sting of alcohol. Villain looked at his reflection again. Hero looked at it too and he nodded at it, not him, complicit in their unspoken oath of silence.
“You know,” Villain said, suddenly still, “you know, don’t you?”

could you pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassseeeeeee continue the villain tortured livestreamed thing??
sequel to this
Hero surveyed their team, ensuring everything was properly in place. Of course, they’d already checked a dozen different times, but there wasn’t much else to do with their anxiety other than put it to good use. There was one area, probably the most important, that they lacked the expertise to check well.
“Medic?” They asked, trying not to let their anxiety seep into their words. They knew Villain would be in desperate need of medical care. How could they not know? After all, Supervillain had gone to great lengths to make them all aware of that fact. Hero was frustrated beyond all words that the thing Villain would need the most was not something they could provide them. Hero was terrible with anything to do with health, which was really a large part of the reason why they had been elected the leader. Process of elimination: they simply weren’t good at anything else.
Medic raised an eyebrow. “Everything is ready, Hero. Including you. You should sit down; You’re going to wear yourself down before you’re even out on the field.”
A shake of their head. “Can’t. Hacker is going to send the signal any moment now, and I need to be ready.”
And just like clockwork, a steady pinging noise hit Hero’s wristband, letting them know that the blackout of Supervillain’s cameras was about to begin. Hero was on the move instantly, hopping lightly out of the back of their camouflaged van with just a jerk of their head to tell Teammate to follow. As they walked they powered off their wristband. Their earpiece was left behind in the van—the electronic blackout was total, and any technology used by them would be like a foghorn in a cathedral: utterly out of place and infinitely noticeable. They knew without looking that Teammate was copying them.
The plan was simple: Hacker had gotten into their camera system from the van, locating where Villain was being held and copying down a map to it. They needed more controls to do a full camera blackout, so they froze a few frames in the security system while they went ahead of the company and took control of the security room. From there they would orchestrate a blackout that would last approximately ten minutes before someone noticed and fixed it. In the meantime they would be loading Supervillain’s files onto their own computer while Hero and Teammate went to get Villain. Five minutes in, five minutes out.
And the clock was already ticking.
The door creaked open in front of Hero, the lock having been disabled by Hacker just moments before. Without sparing more than a glance around to make sure no one was waiting in ambush, Hero took off at a sprint down the hall. The door they’d entered through was on a lower level equivalent to a basement, they supposed. Supervillain’s base was built on a slope, allowing for easy access to several different levels.
Hero hooked turns and opened doors without any hesitation. They had studied the map Hacker had made for them so many times they were certain they wouldn’t forget it as long as they’d lived. Without knowing what state Villain was in and if they were going to have to carry them out, Hero wanted as much of their time to be budgeted for their exit as possible. Teammate’s footsteps thudded just behind them, constant and reassuring.
Once they got to the door that Hero knew was Villain’s, they skidded to a halt. No one had intercepted them on their way in, which was ideal, but…unrealistic. They knew they had to be prepared for a trap. Hero took a split second to catch their breath and toss a look over their shoulder to Teammate, who gave a nod and pulled out their weapon, holding it at the ready.
Hero pulled a small kit out of their pocket, slotting a tiny explosive into the space between the door and the frame just over where the doorknob was. A small press of a button and a cautious step back later, a tiny explosion of various acids and chemicals corroded and broke through the lock much faster than Hero could have. Hero pushed the door open and stepped inside.
The room was easily recognizable as the one the ransom video had been recorded in. The concrete walls were the same, the same chair was set up in the center with knotted rope neatly coiled in its seat as though it were just waiting to be used again, even the camera was still set up on a tall tripod a few feet away from the chair. One wall was covered in knNives and grotesque tools for torture. Dark blood puddled on the floor, some dried and flaky, and some still pooling in the grim light.
In the opposite corner huddled a small form—Villain. They were not easily recognizable as the same one in the ransom video, the same one who came to Hero with a defiant scheme to take down Supervillain and spent late nights researching and planning and brought them coffee in the morning when neither of them had slept. No. This couldn’t be the same one.
But it was.
Their hair was lanky, falling over their face and hiding their eyes in shadow. Or maybe it was just bruising so dark that Hero couldn’t tell the difference. Their knees were tucked up to their bare chest protectively, arms wrapped around their legs and face buried down. Even from here Hero was struck by how loosely their pants hung, how scrawny and thin their arms looked compared to how they used to be. Slightly bloodied cuffs were holding their wrists together, and their arms were covered in mottling bruises and purposeful cuts and what looked like cigarette burns. Hero took a step forward, trying to shake themself out of their horrified stupor, and the small figure that they knew was Villain cowered back, eyes flicking up to them. Hero couldn’t see their eyes well enough to tell if there was any recognition or hope in them, or just fear.
They crossed the room quickly so they could kneel down next to Villain.
“Villain, it’s me, Hero,” they said quietly, eyes moving over Villain’s form without thinking. “You look awful.” Apparently their mouth also moved without thinking.
It was true, though. Up close, even more so. Now Hero could see that some of the cuts on their arms spelled out words, crudely carved into the captive villain.
“Are you here to break me out?” Villain’s voice came out hoarsely like they hadn’t used it properly in weeks. Still, there was a sardonic edge to their voice, a slight glint in their eyes telling Hero to stay focused and remember their mission. Hero was in awe of that strength that remained after they had been put through all hell.
“Of course,” Hero scoffed. It should have been obvious.
Villain’s face darkened. “But…Youngest. Supervillain said—”
“Can you walk?” Hero interrupted.
“Um,” Villain hummed noncommittally, face screwing up while they shifted their legs. They tried to stifle a whimper in their throat, but Hero heard it loud and clear. “Supervillain kind of, um. Broke my leg with a mallet?”
“They what?” Hero hissed, rage spiking red through their vision. They took a long, controlled breath. “Okay. I can carry you. We just need to get out of here.”
Without waiting another second they scooped their arms underneath Villain and stood. They were much lighter than they should have been. They tried their best to ignore that and just start walking. Hero met Teammate’s eyes as they exited the God-forsaken room with Villain in tow. Teammate’s face was blank, but there was a tightness around their eyes and mouth that spoke volumes to Hero about just how bad Villain looked now that they weren’t folded over themself against a wall.
Villain’s bound arms now lay demurely over their lap, by Hero’s chest. This close, it was hard not to look at the words etched into them with a lazy and sadistic hand.
Coward.
Traitor.
Mutt.
Hero swallowed bile and started jogging. Villain cried out under their breath at the jostling it required, but Hero just went faster. If they didn’t get out of there they couldn’t promise that they weren’t going to turn around and find Supervillain just so they could make them pay for each one of those marks.
They didn’t remember getting back to the van, but suddenly they were there, and Teammate and Medic were lifting Villain from Hero’s arms and onto a small gurney strapped in place in the back of the van. It was a slightly makeshift setup.
Hero made themself climb into the van just so they could get closer to Villain, to make sure they were okay. Medic had them laying down and was cutting through their pants so they could get to the broken bone to set it. Villain’s head tilted wearily to the side, seeking out Hero. Their hand reached out and Hero caught it easily, letting them squeeze while Medic reset the bone. Before Villain’s yell had even died down, Hacker had the engine revved and was driving away.
Villain was passed completely out by the time they reached their base, and Hero wasn’t far from it. They insisted they carry Villain inside, now swathed in bandages and cleaned as best as they could manage with the supplies they’d brought. They were frightfully thin, ribs poking out like knuckles through their battered skin. A deep red burn slashed down their chest, drawing attention to the bright and inflamed skin around it compared to the ombre of bruises and scabbed cuts covering them. Supervillain had even signed their name on them, like they were a damned canvas.
Time wasn’t really making sense to Hero when they set Villain down in the medwing. They noticed it was dark outside when they left the van, and the full moon was bright overhead, but they didn’t know the time. They remembered Hacker remarking something about being surprised that Youngest wasn’t waiting up for them, and the tired laughter that went around the group. They remembered the color of Villain’s skin against the clean white sheet, and the weariness in Medic’s eyes as they went to fetch their charts and IVs. They remembered being pushed into a nearby bed, but they weren’t sure who it was that pushed them there.
Then they felt sunlight hitting their eyelids as their consciousness swam back into awareness.
“How is Villain?” Hero was asking before their eyes were even fully open. Hacker sat in a seat beside Villain’s bed, computer open on their lap.
Hacker’s lips twitched slightly. “Good morning to you too. I slept great.” A beat of silence let their joke fall flat, and they sighed. “Villain’s doing fine. Malnourished and dehydrated and very weak, but stable. They still haven’t woken up. They needed the rest.” Their appraising eyes went back to Hero. “You did too. Medic made some coffee before I threatened them into going to rest. How are you feeling?”
“Fine.” Hero stood, swaying just slightly as they made their way to Medic’s office and the coffee machine on their desk. “Where’s Sidekick?”
Hacker shrugged. “I haven’t seen them. They’re probably taking advantage of having those training halls all to themself.”
“Find anything in those files yet?”
A heavy sigh filled the air with the cadence of something done many times already. “I have them loaded up, but they’re heavily encrypted, and the decoding has taken me hours. I think I just about have it, though.”
Hero had poured themself a mug and was seated in a chair opposite Hacker when they let out a triumphant shout that just about made Hero spill their coffee.
“I got it!” Hacker grinned, gesturing Hero over. Before they even got to Hacker’s side, their smile was dropping. The only folder on the drive was one titled “I hope you enjoy your trade :)”
Hero’s stomach dropped. The file was filled with pictures and videos of Villain, during their captivity, displaying in horrible detail everything that was done to them.
Except, at the very end, was a link.
Hacker clicked it, fearing the worst.
Youngest’s teary face filled the screen.

Fixed part 2
Fixed Part 1 Fixed Part 3  A lot of people liked the first one so I really wanted to continue it a bit!!!
———————————————————————
Villain was at his house.
Villain, his sworn enemy, was in Hero’s house.
What was worse, was the fact that he appeared ecstatic to be there. Villain was in a kneeling position, the same he had been in at Superhero’s home, a wide smile plastered across his face. He peered eagerly at Hero.
Villain had only gotten on two feet once Hero had rushed out of Superhero’s home, desperate to escape, and It had been evident from the look of awe on Villains face that he wasn’t let outside much, if at all. His sickly pale skin was a telltale sign of that fact.
The entire car ride was silent, Hero fixated on his thoughts, and Villain with his cheek pressed to the window.
Hero now leaned against the cluttered countertop, trying to gather his thoughts. Villain sat right at his feet, eyes piercing into him, which did not help.
“Sir?” Hero stiffened.
“Yeah, man?” Hero kept his eyes fixed on the wall.
“What are, um, what work do you require of me?”
In confusion, Hero shifted his gaze to the other man. “Work?” He questioned.
“Yes, sir,” Villain maintained a genuine smile. “Work. That’s what I’m trained for, helping you! Superhero sir helped me so much, so I can help you now.”
“Oh, uh, no Villain, I’m not like Superhero, I promise.” Hero crouched down, placing a gentle hand to Villain’s shoulder. “You’re okay now. You’re not with him anymore, he can’t hurt you, ‘kay? You don’t need to pretend anymore.”
Unlike Hero expected, Villain did not relax, nor did he begin acting like Villain. Instead, his brows furrowed, and his face fell to a state of confusion and worry. “I- sir, I’m not pretending, I promise! I really, really wanna serve you, please!” Villain was practically begging, his strained smile sending shivers down Hero’s spine.
Hero sighed, slipping his hands over his face. He stood up again, leaning his back against the counter. “Look, I know… you’ve gone through something, shitty, but it’s all fine now! I’m letting you go, Villain. So you can be evil and stuff again, okay?” His eyes met with Villains, and the look of terror on Villain’s face did nothing to ease his nerves.
“Y’know, I think I’m just gonna call Assistant, your friend, y’know? Maybe she can help you-”
“No! No, sir, no!” Villain was yelling, his weak hands frantically clinging to Hero’s ankles. He pressed his forehead to the cold tile floor. “Please, I’m a good boy, I promise! I’m not evil anymore, an’ I’m not bad! I promise sir, I wanna be a good boy for you, please!”
Hero stared down, mouth agape and wideyed.
“Please don’t send me back, with- with the villains. I’m not evil anymore, Superhero helped me! I’m made to serve you now, sir, I can’t go back. This is my purpose.”
Hero stared back, slack jawed, as Villain gazed up with pleading eyes. For a moment, neither made a sound.
“Villain, let's get you to bed.” Hero pushed his weight back onto his feet, standing up straight. Hero leaned down slightly, stretching out an open hand to his nemesis.
“But- sir- what about work?”
“No work, Villain. It’s ten at night, and you look exhausted. I need you to sleep.”
“So I can work super hard tomorrow?” The words made Hero stiffen.
“Yeah, dude, whatever. Just… go to bed now, ‘kay?” Villain timidly curled his fingers over hero's, pulling himself onto shaky legs.
The two carefully made their way to Hero’s bedroom, which was not exactly what one would call clean. Clothes, papers, and unrecognizable items littered the floor, making it increasingly hard for the two to navigate the room without stepping on anything. When they made their way to the at least nice looking bed, Hero gestured to it.
“You… want me to sleep in a bed? In you’re bed?” Villain hung his head low, greasy strands of hair falling in front of his eyes.
“Yeah, sorry, I guess I need to order a bed for you tonight.” Hero chuckled slightly.
“I, um, I sleep on the floor sir.”
“Villain. Bed, now please.” Upon the command, Villain carefully stepped to the bed, next to Hero, and fixed his eyes on the pristine sheets. He knew it would be so wrong. He should be cleaning, not sleeping, let alone in Hero’s bed.
Hero pressed a tender hand to Villain’s back, steadily shifting him onto the mattress. Villain sat down rigidly, his hands folded tightly in his lap.
“C’mon, lie down.” Hero coaxed. Begrudgingly, Villain placed his back against the blankets under him. Hero leaned to the floor, grabbing a large, fluffy blanket and placing it over Villain’s body. It enveloped his small frame, making it so he was almost completely unnoticeable underneath.
The warmth and comfortability of the blanket felt foreign to him. Drowsiness began to seep into his brain, taking a hold on him. As much as he needed to fight it, part of him didn’t want to. Hero was rubbing his shoulder, sweet, circular motions. “Just sleep now. I have to leave for a bit, but I’ll be back as soon as I can. Goodnight Villain.”
Hero received only a tired hum of recognition in response. As he walked out of the dark room, he watched as Villain snuggled deeper into the soft bed.
Hero held his fist to the door, hesitantly knocking his knuckles against it. He had no idea if anyone would answer. He wouldn’t have blamed them if they didn’t. They definitely didn’t know that he knew where they lived, and they definitely would not take kindly to that fact.
Especially since he not only knew where they lived, but he showed up to their place of residence. In the middle of the night. Unannounced.
Yet, moments later, the door opened, but only a sliver. “What are you doing here?” Hero felt his throat run momentarily dry.
“I-I need your help.”
“And why the hell would that be? I’m not coming out so you and your Hero friends can capture me, just like Villain.” A strike of guilt struck through the hero's body.
“I’m not going to arrest you.”
“Then there's no reason for you to be here, and I’m sure there's no possible reason you could ever need my help. So leave.” Hero watched as they went to shut the door.
“It’s about Villain!” The door opened a smidge more, allowing a faint outline of the figure to become visible.
“What?” Hero swallowed.
“I need your help. For Villain.”

Hero's realization
i really like when the moment the hero injures the villain fatally is followed by a realization that they were just a manipulated victim
then the hero decides to take villain with them and be their caretaker
bonus points if hero and villain had been enemies since basically forever and hero realizes that behind that cocky attitude was the shell of a vulnerable person
bonus bonus points if they take a moment to reflect on said discovery and remember tiny details of villain's behavior in fights that seemed peculiar to hero but that they had dismissed easily
and now they realize they missed all of villain's cries for help

Febuwhump: Day Twenty-Six
“Help them” — #febuwhump prompt calendar
Almost over!! Eeek!! I need to get all the prompts done! And my assignments are coming due but what is more important honestly?!
*~*~*~*~*
Hero brought Villain to supervillain cradled in their arms, paler than milk. It made everything look worse somehow… the dark circles around their eyes looked more like bruises now, deep purple and sore reds. Henchmen narrowed their eyes when they opened the door to see Hero standing there, covered in blood and an unconscious Villain cradled in their arms like a baby.
“I need to see Supervillain,” said Hero thickly. Henchmen raised their brows, clearly unimpressed. Hero stepped in, desperation driving them. “Please… I wouldn’t be here if there was any other way. You know Villain, henchmen please.”
Henchmen’s eyes flicked from Villain to Hero before setting their mouth in a thin line and stepping back into the house, opening the door wider.
“Thank you,” Hero breathed.
“I’m not doing this for you.”
“I know, thank you anyway. I’m grateful.”
Henchmen guided Hero to the stairs down to Supervillain’s workshop that took up the entire basement, renovated to suit Supervillain’s needs. Hero thanked Henchmen again before descending to the sounds of the door shutting behind them.
“Henchmen, if this is about tea again, I told you I’m fi—” Supervillain grumbled coming to see the intruder on the stairs. He paused, continuing to wipe his fingers in a cloth. Supervillain’s eyes took in Hero, the state of them, then focused on Villain in Hero’s arms.
Supervillain’s gaze when it returned to Hero’s eyes was heavier, weighted by their shared history. Supervillain turned away and said: “I’m closed for the day, little Hero.”
“Please.” The word was blubbered out of Hero’s lips before they could reign it in, the desperation, the despair, the panic. It caused Supervillain to pause again.
“Help them,” Hero whispered, sniffing, tears streaming down their cheeks Hero wished wouldn’t shed in front of the deadliest Villain in the entire city. “Please.”
“I told you,” said Supervillain, looking at Hero over their shoulder. “That if you walked out the door Villain was your problem. I told Villain that too. I didn’t walk, Hero. You did.”
“I’ll beg,” Hero told them taking another step down the stairs. “I’ll stay, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll give up being a Hero, I’ll stay here with you and we can start again.”
Supervillain scoffed, casting their gaze to the ceiling instead of anywhere else. “You’d give up your freedom for that mongrel?”
“Yes.”
There was no hesitation. No hitch in Hero’s voice, no doubt.
Hero watched Supervillain’s back stiffen at the immediacy of Hero’s reply, and the guilt overwhelmed them but it was the truth. The one truth Hero would live and die by, sacrifice their freedom for. If it meant Villain lived.
Supervillain started walking again, their voice quieter as they said: “you can set them down on this table here. Then leave. I don’t need you lurking over me while I work.”
“But—” Hero protested as they set Villain on the table. The rest of their protest died on their tongue when Supervillain cut them with a glare.
“Just upstairs, you don’t have to leave. You can shower, tend to your wounds yourself.”
Hero nodded and sniffed, “oh—okay.”
Hero pressed a kiss to Villain’s forehead before they sniffed and turned to leave. Supervillain spoke and it halted Hero in their stride.
“This will cost you dearly, Hero,” they said, voice grave. Hero nodded and said: “I know.”
That’s all they said, that was all there was to say. Hero walked back up the stairs to the main house. Henchmen was waiting beside the door, arms crossed over their chest, head reclining against the wall. Hero thought Henchmen would be surprised to see Hero without Villain, but Henchmen just scoffed, shaking their head.
“They never could say no to you,” they told Hero. Their eyes were burning with scorn when they fixed on Hero’s face. “What did you do? Sell your soul? You know they won’t do that for nothing.”
“I know,” said Hero softly, too tired to fight anymore. “I’m— I’m going to lie down.”
Henchmen pushed off the wall, haughty. “Do whatever you want, Hero. It’s what you always do anyways.”

Whumptober, day one
YAY!!! First day of @whumptober Lets see how this goes YUDJUHDDHJ
-
No. 1: “But now this room is spinning while I’m trying just to fill in all the gaps.”
Safety Net | Swooning | “How many fingers am I holding up?
-
Sidekick stumbled backwards as Villain advanced towards them. They could hear their own heartbeat in their ears, thumping loudly as if crying out for help.
“Give it up, kid. Tell me where Hero is and you and I can get along.”
Sidekick took a shaky breath before slowly bring up their fists, ready to fight as they got their footing back, “Not happening,” they rasped, hating themself for how weak their voice sounded, “I'm not going to stop fighting back.”
A cruel smirk cracked along Villain’s lips as they raised their fists too, “Me neither.”
This time, Sidekick lunged forwards first. They went to swing at the villain but their wrist was quickly grabbed, along with their other one before Villain drove their knee up into Sidekick’s stomach.
Sidekick cried out as they hunched over, only resulting in them being kneed in the face. They fell to the floor, not getting any break as Villain was quick to straddle their hips, delivering punch after punch.
Sidekick screamed out, letting out all their energy, grabbing both of Villain’s wrists before throwing them off of them. This time they straddled Villain’s hips. They shot out their witch blade, placing it just at Villain’s throat as they caught their breath, “You- you're going to leave me alone,” Sidekick growled, surprising themself at their own tone, “You're going…gonna leave me and Hero alone.”
Villain simply scoffed, “Oh please, you think you scare me? You're nothing but a weak link to Hero. They only hired you because they felt sorry for you.
And that was when Sidekick did something they were trained not to do. They let it sink in. Their grip on Villain loosened and they gulped. But Villain then turned Sidekick to the floor, snatching the blade from the other’s hand and drove it into Sidekick’s torso, ripping a scream from the other.
“Damn, I really thought we would get along,” Villain hummed, “Welp! See you around kid,,, or not,” Villain giggled before running off to the shadows who engulfed their figure- leaving Sidekick by themself.
Sidekick was gasping for breath, shaking hands pressing down onto their wounds as they broke down into sobs, god, they were pathetic.
Rustling from a nearby bush made Sidekick flinch, only further upsetting their wound as they whimpered. “Ple-please, Villain, I-I swear I don't kno-”
“Sidekick?”
Sidekick’s eyes blew open, “Hero?!”
The hero ran over kneeling beside their sidekick as their face contorted in guilt, “Oh, bud… I'm so sorry…” They took in their sidekick who lay on the ground, sweat coating their face and hair, skin paler than usual and blood everywhere.
“It's okay, you're gonna be okay, buddy.”
Sidekick whimpered and nodded, leaning into the gentle touch in their sweat-soaked hair, “Hu-hurts..”
“I know… I know, I’ll make it stop hurting soon, we just need to bring you back the the HQ, alright”? Sidekick nodded slowly, their eyes fluttering closed but they opened them back up at Hero’s voice, “Heyhey, don’t be falling asleep on me, it would be one boring car ride back without you talking to me.”
They both shared a laugh but Sidekick winced as their wound filled with fire. Hero gulped before they held up five of their fingers, “Hey, how many fingers am I holding up, bud?”
Sidekick squinted up as they tried to focus their vision on Hero’s hands, “Fff-fi-five?”
“Yeah! Good job! That’s how many sweets I’ll give you when we get home, got it?” Sidekick smiled and nodded, “Th’nk you..” They were going to be alright… but Villain’s words still cut deep into their heart. They were weak…

Hero had noticed that Villain seemed a little distracted during their fight—not bantering as much as usual, fighting back halfheartedly. Still, they had expected Villain to dodge their attack in time. But when Hero sent out another blast of their ice powers, it hit Villain square in the chest, knocking them into the wall behind them.
Hero gasped as they watched Villain crumple to the ground, clutching at their chest. “Oh my god.”
Villain groaned, staring down at the ice spreading across the front of their suit. “Fuck. You got me good, huh?” they forced out. The laugh that followed was on the verge of hysterical.
“God, Villain, I’m so sorry,” Hero said, rushing to them. They knelt down in front of Villain, pushing their shaking hands out of the way so Hero could inspect the damage. Ice had pierced through their suit, seeping into Villain’s chest. Thanks to their own fire powers, it most likely wouldn’t be fatal—Villain's body heat had already begun counteracting the ice. But it looked like it hurt.
Villain’s eyes were distant when they looked up at Hero, and their lips were tinged blue. “My fault,” they said, teeth chattering. “Should’ve been paying attention.”
Hero shook their head. “No, no it’s not your fault. Shit, I'm sorry, I knew you were having an off day and I still…”
Villain wrapped their arms around themself as shivers wracked their body. “S-so cold. And tired.”
“You have to stay awake,” Hero instructed, though it came out as more of a plea. “Keep your eyes open, okay?”
The ice was beginning to melt away already, but the effects would probably last longer. “You’ve g-got your chance to t-turn me in now,” Villain said, forcing themself to keep their eyes on Hero.
Hero sighed, pushing Villain’s hair back. “Not gonna happen. I’m taking you home where you can have some hot soup and lots of blankets, and then rest. And maybe when you’re feeling better, you can tell me what had you so distracted today.”
“Why?” Villain asked incredulously.
“I did this. Now I'm going to fix it.” Hero didn’t tell them about the guilt and the looming fear that always followed them. The constant underlying threat of their powers being too strong. Or that they might lose control, like they had today. One of their worst fears had just come true and it was only by luck, or maybe a miracle, that Hero had hit the one person who couldn’t be killed by their ice powers.
“If you w-wanted me to c-come home with you, you c-could've just asked,” Villain joked.
Hero couldn’t help but smile—at least Villain was with it enough to still tease them. “Don’t fool yourself. Once you’re all better, we go back to being enemies.”
“Yeah. Obviously.” Hero pretended not to notice the way Villain’s smile faltered. “You’d have t-to take me to dinner f-first, anyways. I’m not that easy.”
“Well,” Hero said, “I can at least make you chicken noodle soup, so hopefully that counts for something. Now, come on, let’s see if you can stand…”

Appendicitis Pt. 3
Here's Pt. 1 Here's Pt. 2
Here we go! you asked, and I'm happy to deliver! Decided whether or not I wanted this to happen, but I was bored and ended up keeping it! This one is shorter, but I hope you enjoy!!
CW: Hospital setting, waking up during surgery, lmk if I need to add others idrk what else to put
"........Heartbeat increasing......"
"...Medic......."
"...asleep......they need........"
"I don't usually........."
Villian felt their consciousness returning, sure they were in recovery. They remembered Hero finding them in the street, the gas flowing into their nose, and then... now. Light shone above, casting a pink glow that Villian could see behind their eyelids. The beep of the heart monitor pulsed steadily behind the conversation they could barely focus on.
"They need more, where is it?" An unfamiliar voice demanded; their question followed by a 'plop'.
"I don't know, but it's out. Good thing, too. It looks like it's going to burst any minute now."
"Hero, they're going to wake up, their heart rate is increasing..!"
There was a pause, and Villian felt eyes on them.
"I think they already have... Villian?"
A small voice in Villian's head told them that Hero wanted their attention, that they should respond, and they forced their drooping eyelids open.
"Shit... Medic, we need that anesthesia right now."
Villian watched Hero drop something shining from their hand and turn to Villain's head. A tiny, almost foreign bloom of panic and confusion. They looked side to side and strained to force their muscles to obey. Hero noticed, placing a gentle yet firm hand on their shoulder.
"Can't have you doing that, you need to stay down."
Villian tried to argue but their lips seemed unresponsive, only managing a weak groan.
"I know, I'm sorry. Are you in pain?"
Villian looked around with a frantic gaze, breath quickening, and panic pulling them away as they tried to command their body to move, but it wouldn't obey.
"Hey, hey focus in. Blink once if you're in pain, twice if you aren't.
Villian blinked twice and Hero breathed a small sigh of relief.
"Found it!" The other person announced, and they crossed around Villian to the IV stand. Villian's gaze followed the other person and to the tin on the table next to them. They couldn't focus enough to try and understand what it could-
"Hey, hey no don't look over there, look up, look at me."
Villian obeyed and Hero nodded.
"Okay, all hooked up! About thirty seconds." The other person proclaimed.
"nnn...not.....done?" Villian slurred, fatigue already pulling them down as Hero shook their head.
"See you on the other side, Villian."
lmk if you'd like to see a Pt. 4! :)
