Random First Class Trio + Zack Headcanons #3: Crack Version
Angeal:
His favorite workout song is "YMCA" by Village People.
He's definitely knocked out Wutai soldiers like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Somebody once mistook him as Zack's father due to similarities in their features. He didn't even try to correct them.
His sneeze is louder than the Krakatoa explosion.
Rickrolled everyone by singing "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley at a company gala while he was drunk. (Sephiroth and Genesis didn't speak to him for a month. 💀💀)
Makes terrible dad jokes that even Zack cannot stomach. (He's definitely done that "Hi, hungry! I'm dad!" shit with Zack. 😂😂)
Genesis:
He is a big Fergie fan and knows her songs by heart. He can also rap that part in "Fergalicious."
He did an iconic dance number to "Umbrella" with Andrea Rhodea at the Honeybee Inn like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also likes Lady Gaga and blasts "Bad Romance" every time he and Sephiroth spar with each other.
He hates horror movies. He's the loudest out of the trio when watching them (he's either screaming at the characters or at the monsters/ghosts).
Aside from LOVELESS, he also quotes "Mean Girls" on the regular. (Guess who he quotes the most... 😉😉)
Totally has a blog for Shinra blinds just because (basically who's dating or fucking who, juicy stuff on important Shinra officials and staff, etc.). He once published a blind on Rufus defacing one of President Shinra's statues with a drawing of a dick. No matter how many times Shinra has gotten it shut down, Genesis somehow manages to keep on reviving it. Recently, Kunsel and some members of Red Leather have joined his team.
Sephiroth:
Can't stand spicy food. He avoids it as much as he can. Eating spicy foods will cause his eyes to water and his nose to redden like this:
Tumblr media
(Genesis managed to snap an unfortunate photo of him dying from the spiciness of the curry and sent it to the Silver Elite fanclub with the caption, "IS THIS YOUR KING???" 🤭🤭)
Somehow, he has the most wins in UNO and Monopoly.
Catwoman is his favorite DC character; Black Cat is his favorite Marvel character. (Gee, I wonder why... 🤔🤔)
Whenever he goes outside, a horde of cats just mysteriously flock to him. Genesis and Angeal find it both amusing and creepy. (My aunt is actually like this. Wherever she goes, cats mysteriously gather around her, it's so freaky! 😭😭😭)
He can actually do the lazy eye trick, and loves to freak Genesis out with it.
He once dressed as Sadako/Samara Morgan from "The Ring" for the Halloween costume contest... and WON.
Zack:
Has sung "Jenny" by The Click Five using a shortened version of Genesis's name to annoy him. ("I'm standing still, Genny!" "Be quiet, you overgrown mutt!" "You got me on my knees, Genny!")
(This ends up with Genesis summoning Ifrit on Zack's ass 😂😂)
He and Kunsel quote Vines all the time, usually around any of the First Class Trio or Lazard just so they could revel in their confused faces.
Zack and Kunsel: *to Angeal* You are my daaaaad! You're my dad! Boogie woogie woogie!!!
Angeal:
Tumblr media
Once, after getting drunk during the SOLDIER game night, he and the lower-class SOLDIERs thought it was a good idea to go sledding down the building stairs, so they brought mattresses from their dorms to use as makeshift sleds. Needless to say, the infirmary reached full capacity that night.
On April Fools' Day, he somehow managed to hijack Shinra's PA system and started playing "Careless Whisper" on full blast.
He's a massive Pokémon fanboy and knows the Pokémon Theme Song by heart. In fact, he has his contacts named after Pokémon: Angeal is Machamp, Sephiroth is Mewtwo, Genesis is Charizard, Tseng is Umbreon, Aerith is Jigglypuff, Cloud is Pikachu, etc.
Threw an apple at Hojo and left a shitload of Legos all over his lab for subjecting Sephiroth to a particularly painful physical test.

thanks for getting the ask back I couldn't comment anywhere 😭. I only live in the shadows. 🫥.
You know what's worse? If I recall, NTPK has a line "hold my hand and never let it go" and she sings (tho fake) this while cloud catches a reunion flower petal. At first I was thinking, okay, since part 1, he only held tifa's hand and lets go of aerith or it's only on the wrist. I was "okay...?" And then we get this? He takes her hand and then he initiates the next one , intertwines it and presses it i assume? So, okay, i haven't seen the others yet, but as of right now, we do see him reach out to tifa in their gsd and he also doesn't let go.
I don't like what that is. I remember marle saying something like only either understanding or pushy people can open up cloud. And this just indicates that while yes, he likes tifa and will initiate with her. In another reality, if someone is pushy with him, he won't reject it? But welcome it? I thought he was uncomfortable? Did he actually like his boundaries being disrespected? If this was food, it's like I'm eating cake but all I can taste is salt. It's icky. Maybe jessie did have a chance. Man, barret better have an almost kiss and deep hand holding with cloud. He better hold nanaki's paws too.
In Tifa's date when that line is sung Cloud and Tifa hold hands, but in all the other dates Cloud catches a petal

Hi I'm responding to your post about being confused at the hopeful lyrics of NPtK! Here are my thoughts:
Firstly, I'm not sure if I agree on heroes and promises being a bad thing in the world of ff7. From my perspective, they've never really been a bad thing, especially since the narrarive allows Cloud gets to become a hero and keep his promise to Tifa. Cloud carries her to a safe place during the Nibelheim incident and then stops Sephiroth. Not to mention he later helps Tifa out with Avalanche and defeats Sephiroth at the end of the game. Perhaps you have a different perspective but I always thought the game has been pretty receptive to the idea of heroes and promises, just that Cloud was kind of a false hero for a lot of the game. (In contrast, the true version of Cloud is a true hero.)
In addition, there was a tweet on Nojima's twitter recently stating that he imagined Aerith wrote the lyrics to appeal to a crowd and that she rewrote the lyrics a few times. Ergo, they are not her purest feelings put to paper. Now, this tidbit doesn't necessarily help this discussion much, but I do think it's worth considering that some of the lyrics could be prophetic in a way Aerith didn't intend. Perhaps she wrote some of them more innocently, unaware of the irony that's to come... (food for thought.)
Anyway I personally think Aerith has resigned herself to fate in the song but that she still can't help longing for something better. She sings: "if only id never known, all the burdens i was born to bear, lived a life without a care in the world save for you, but that won't do." I think this line is exactly what shows the inside of her tumultuous heart! Yes, she's resigned herself to her fate, but even when she's trying to share one last date with Cloud and pretend everything's fine she can't hide the sorrow on her face from the photographer. She longs for fate to change, she just knows it can't, or at least not as much as she'd like. I personally don't think these are really contradictory...? I can see how you might, though.
Err sorry if I missed the point of your post but I'll just send this anyway! I do think you've opened up an interesting discussion though. :)
Ok, first, it's genuinely such a nice thing of you to take time to write this, it made me so so happy. After I saw that NJM's tweet I think I started to understand it much more. You see, my initial interpretation of the lyrics were that Aerith is singing to Cloud to reassure him to not fret as they are sure to meet again, and that meeting would be in the lifestream, as all life is reunited upon death into one single thing. So there were no promises to keep because it was a given that they would meet as everyone dies eventually.
Now that NJM said he sort of imagined it as Aerith writing the song again and again. Honestly, I agree completely with your interpretation. I mean, isn't her song kind of like a prayer, in a way? For a better future to herself? Aerith in the OG is unaware of what is going to happen to her, she's fulfilling her duty, but Aerith in the R-Trilogy knows. She doesn't know her future but we see that she feels the danger that she's in, Nanaki warns Cloud about it and his connection to the lifestream is much weaker than hers (and I don't think she would fully divulge it to him either because Aerith is a bit of a secretive character). I believe she's aware of what's going to happen (even if she doesn't know when) and she chooses it, it's the ultimate sacrifice. I wonder just how scared she was to take every step foward with the increasing uneasiness of her upcoming doom.
It's just very heartbreaking. Specially so if the running time loop theory I've seen floating around is true, actually.
Oh, also, about the hero thing. I still maintain my opinion, actually, though I think I'd like to explain myself better a little bit haha. So, from my point of view, FF7 subverts the idea of a hero or the notion of the becoming of a hero, at least, and I don't think it paints it in a good light. I question the notion that Cloud becomes a hero by saving Tifa because he puts her on a safe spot and then, because of his rage, instead of running away with her (and actually making sure she was truly safe, Zangan is the one who does that) he goes back and kills Sephiroth. That action only makes Sephiroth stronger and allows Cloud (and Zack) to be captured and messed with. He effectively made things worse there. If only Zack was captured and he didn't have to care for Cloud maybe he would have survived. And then, again, when Zack saves Cloud he is uncerimoniously killed by Shinra - the very thing that allowed Zack to funnel his heroism into. And also, yes, the party defeats Sephiroth in the end but Holy is what stops the Meteor and even then, humanity still perishes in the future. People are saved due to the mercy of the lifestream, the recognition of the value of life.
I guess this sounds like what I'm saying is "don't have empathy/help others" haha but it's not it, I guess I just think the game is interested on questioning the reason for their actions and showing how much of it doesn't stem only from empathy but truly from selfishness and the want for recognition. That's what I think for now, at least.

Life
I'm sorry if I haven't been around/available/"there". This is probably the best time to actually "stay", but...at least I'm still around after so long. Outside of life and its ills, I was wondering about drawing an extremely dumb overly exaggerated comic starring Sherlotta getting Isekai'ed to the Desert Southwest. I just wanted to do it to make fun of Forspoken for fun. Don't think much of it right now.
You already know what I'm going to say about the FF7 Rebirth theme (spoiler) song...it's about Terra Branford and nobody will believe that, blah, blah, blah.
"No Promises to Keep" is a reference to the FF6 Opera's:
"Must I forget you? Our solemn promise? Will autumn take the place of spring? What shall I do? I'm lost without you. Speak to me once more!"
Why is Aerith singing a song about "promises"? Well, if Tifa sung the song, it would make a lot of sense (Midgar Blues doesn't fit Tifa in the same way)! Since Aerith sings the song, people will just become confused like always, but they'll inevitably think about the "End of Disk 1" moment and if Aerith will be "saved" despite 2 and 2 not coming together (to be fair though, Aerith doesn't really have promises, but why mention their existence if that's the case?). The only real notable promise that implies lasting longer than a scene (I think) is the one Aerith gives to Zack in Crisis Core where she wants to "sell flowers under the sky" with him (it hasn't happened yet, but why make the entirety of FF7 Rebirth have a theme song about that one thing?)
Tumblr media
People only have this idea that she is either "saved" or "not saved" and that's the only thing that can happen outside of...Tifa getting the latter instead. If Aerith survives then the story is clearly changed (which they promised not to do). If she is not saved then...what's the surprise they're cooking at the end? If Tifa dies then it's clearly surprising since her most important part comes later and now she's gone...but then again, they would need to change the story! If Zack appears in the OG timeline, well, that would be way too much of a change and I don't believe that has any purpose in happening (not that it can't, but it makes no sense right now).
Why is everyone so focused on Zack anyway? Is Square-Enix just going to change the entire story just to make Zack be in the game doing stuff? Everyone is latching onto Zack like he's the solution to everything, but it's clear that a lot of the background story of Remake is being ignored...and almost every other game in the FF7 compilation and the series.
It has to be a surprise that's bigger than Zack's appearance, and the only thing I can anticipate that can trump that which isn't just "100% not hinted" is Terra's appearance. We are already thinking about Aerith and Tifa dying, but that's the thing...we're thinking about it! We weren't thinking about Zack before he magically appeared for no apparent reason! It's likely they did this so that they can do it again. What in the world can happen in FF7's universe that would be as surprising as a character not from FF7 appearing in it? Someone dying? That's not surprising, that's expected.
I already see comments how the song reminds them of FF6 and "Eyes on Me", a song about Squall and Rinoa...who are designed after Cloud's FF6 prototype and Terra (and their Dissidia story hints at FF8 connections because the love story from FF6 is a real thing that keeps being reused in other games in small chunks). Y'know, protecting people, flowers, orphans, pets, someone leaving just to return, being brainwashed, shooting stars, guy who wants to be a hero, witches, childhood friend, some guy who thinks he's better than the main character, yep.
The original promise comes from FF6. My working theory is that Tifa and Aerith's Midgar stories were once for one character (Terra). The main character of FF6 (who was cut) promises he'll protect Terra AND he also ends up saving her (in contradiction to FF7's promising one character but obsessing about not being able to save the other).
A "saving" part still exists (with Locke I guess), but Terra's story lacks a lot that it would have had with the missing character (the same one who became the main character of FF7). Other characters in FF inherited parts of Terra's missing story elements (those characters have "Moogle Girl" bangs with Eiko [Terra's childhood] and Sherlotta [Terra's cat (Tifa's Traces of Two Pasts hints that)] being the biggest).
Tumblr media
This is the very beginning of Terra's story in the original Dissidia. The kid is "Onion Knight" from FF3 (NES) who is secretly representing Cloud as a child. Cloud ends up appearing to "save" Terra soon after in the center of the planet (basically where Cloud tells Tifa that "he'll meet her there" in the OG ending). Onion Knight is represented by "Oates" from FF7 Remake. Terra is looking at the stars when her story starts, which is another hint by Cloud...
Tumblr media
This star appears in the FF6 Opera and became a story element in Tifa's promise scene before it was removed in FF7 Remake (it appears in FF8 because it's origin is the FF6 Opera, not FF7). Cloud is talking about Firion's dream to fill the world with Wild Roses, but he's just mocking it since it sounds "childish". And yeah, Cloud would end up sharing that dream with Terra during her Dissidia story since "Filling the World with Flowers" is cut from FF6 and no other character in FF does such a thing to that degree...those random fields of flowers in FF8, FF15, etc. are a symbol of this cut "dream" from FF6. There's a reason why Terra's clothes are full of them, y'know. Aerith's concept art lacks flowers btw. The story element in Crisis Core where Zack and Aerith have a dream to fill Midgar with flowers is and always was connected to Cloud & Terra's Dissidia scene because these four characters are connected. Zack is designed after Cloud and Aerith is designed after Terra. These things aren't the way they are for no reason.
Zack <- Cloud -> Sephiroth Aerith <- Terra -> Jenova
Zack is Cloud's friend. Sephiroth is Cloud's antithesis by design. Aerith is Terra's friend. Jenova is Terra's antithesis by design.
I'm jumping pretty far by saying Aerith is Terra's friend (they're designed after each other), and I know that, but my entire profile involves lots of "jumping". Don't make me start talking about the Phoenix Tower in FF5 where enemies that look similar to Aerith, Terra, and Jenova appear (designed by Nomura none-the-less)...I dislike talking about that.
Well, enough of that. I don't want to bore you. Aerith hints at a "surprise" in Remake when Cloud decides to pick...grass...for the orphanage.
Tumblr media
"I gotta hand it to you, I never would've thought of that. It'll definitely take them by surprise."
The orphanage most notably represents Terra because how many characters have orphans in their story as much as she has? The white flower means loyalty, which is represented by a moogle...and Terra's represented by them a lot. The yellow one implies that Cloud will meet this person "some time in the future". You can't ignore that. At the point where the main theme of FF7 Rebirth is sung, Cloud has met every notable character in FF7 except Zack. The FF6 Opera and Loveless are about "meeting someone again after leaving/being left by them" and the "Midgar Blues" is about "leaving someone".
Does it make sense that it's Aerith? Aerith IS with Zack in his timeline and Aerith already did low-key reunite with Cloud when he fell from "heaven". How about Tifa? Perhaps in the beginning, but that's long gone now in her own words when she was talking to Cloud in Aerith's flower garden.
The Reunion is about Terra waiting for Cloud back in FF6 limbo as the song sung by Celes states. "Reunion" was originally a bad-guy story element with Sephiroth and Jenova, but Cloud and Terra represent the good side of it. "Hollow" states that instead of waiting, Terra herself will come to FF7R. That is the expectation and Zack's story allows this to happen as anything can happen there without ruining the OG story.
If there was a big change in the OG storyline then Zack's timeline didn't serve much, if any purpose! Why would they have made it then!?!
Yet, everyone's expecting some change to the OG storyline, so it's not surprising that they'll make it seem like that'll be a thing before or when the "surprise" happens. Let me just use the Aerith quote again:
"I gotta hand it to you, I never would've thought of that. It'll definitely take them by surprise."
I still feel that FFXIII-2 is the original rough-draft of Zack's storyline...we'll wait and see. Serah is clearly made after Terra and Lightning is made after Cloud, but was Noel made after Zack? He does come in a meteor and starts doing timeline changing stuff like it's his sworn duty, oddly enough.
I haven't tagged any posts recently...guess this will do.
There's something missing...oh yah.
Tumblr media
This is when Cloud goes to look for a person who'll show him "the reason why he fights". The "That's a promise" crumb trail goes like this in order:
Aerith & Zack promise to sell flowers under the sky together. Of course, Zack dies and gives his sword to Cloud, which is the main storyline of Cloud's in Dissidia. Zack gave Cloud his "honor" and "dreams" (filling Midgar with flowers) along with the sword, but in Dissidia, Cloud doesn't understand why he has it.
Cloud promising the other FF protags that he'll return with an answer as to the reason why he fights (which he talks about at the end of FF7 with his "A very personal memory that I have".) He tries to skip over Sephiroth and he gets his crystal "the white materia", but he just continues onward to find his answer.
Onion Knight telling Terra that he'll "always protect her". Cloud then meets Terra after OK disappears and they converse about the flower dream which is similar to Zack and Aerith's in Crisis core before that first "That's a promise".
Cloud's "Reason to Fight" is to protect a person, and this was originally for Terra as that was the original promise hinted by the FF6 Opera. This is his "very personal memory"...it's very personal because only he knows it. To see that it was hinted all the way back in OG FF7 is surprising, but it is what it is. Cloud knows something he's not supposed to.
Thank you for reading this perspective.

The bagpipes of Cait Sith made me think of this…
If our lovely group of problematic firsts (that includes Zack and Cloud!) had to listen to music while working out/training/relaxing/etc, what would their favorite types of music be?
(…we all know Zack just vibes with whatever background music is in his head at the time…)
Angeal is totally a fan of 80's power ballads. Or the FF equivalent. He doesn't care how cheesy they are. HEAVY bro energy during gym time. DO YOU EVEN LIFT BRUH.
Genesis likes to pretend to be Mr. Fancy acquired taste with his music in order to impress his admirers and coworkers. "Oh yes, I listen to on the FINEST nontraditional underground sensations YOU wouldn't have ever heard of them." In reality, he's the biggest basic bitch and sings to pop music in the shower. Either that, or showtunes.
Sephiroth listens mostly to classical. But things change after Angeal and Genesis left. He finds it harder to concentrate and tries to switch to self-help audiobooks and podcasts. Which equally backfires because he's not feeling any better. Then, by pure happenstance, he comes across screamo death metal music and while he pretends to despise it, it helps him feel EXTREMELY validated and cathartic unleashing all his negative emotions and anger when no one else can see.
Zack doesn't know it but he and Genesis probably have the most in common in terms of musical tastes. They are both avid connoisseurs of basic pop. Zack also likes boy bands thanks to Aerith introducing him to it. And you know what? He's not even ashamed. He also enjoys basic hard rock and would also like the FF equivalent of Disney music, if it existed.
Cadet!Cloud is the only true "deep, poetic soul" among these losers. He likes Indie rock. Not so much edgy or pretentious stuff but more of the weighty sadboi stuff. YES, Cloud has cried in the shower multiple times listening to mopey guitars thinking about how he's too weak for Tifa (and Sephiroth!) to ever notice.

Some miscellaneous Distant Worlds thoughts and highlights!
I spent the entire concert either crying, grinning, getting goosebumps, or all three. 12/10
The Rebel Army Theme from FFII during the I-III 2002 Medley BANGS SEVERELY with a live orchestra, holy shit.
The screen was playing scenes from the games and for FFI it was literally either overworld walking or random battles lmao.
The "Spoony Bard" moment from FFIV and Sabin suplexing a train in FFVI both appeared and that makes me happy. Glad to see that memes endure.
The Chocobo Theme part of the I-III medley is distilled joy. It was SO bouncy and fun!
Arnie Roth (the conductor) is really fun I love him. He just gave me good vibes.
The first half of the concert concluded with a brand new battle medley for FFI-VI and it BANGS. The arrangement for the FFIV battle theme is super chill and I'm in love. And then the FFVI part hits and it hits HARD.
They showed FFVIICC Reunion, FFXVI, and Stranger of Paradise trailers during the intermission, but nothing really new.
The second half of the concert opened with FFVIII's Liberi Fatali. I'd realised it was coming because the choir was suddenly there and I'd spotted it in the booklet, but not everyone knew, so the whole hall was like "Ooohh" when the choir started singing. A lot of people also forgot that the song doesn't end on the big note but has a bit of a resolution after and so they started clapping early haha.
While the first half of the concert was either chronological or did medleys, the second half had Roth introduce every segment like "And now, a fan-favourite song from FFVII-X. But first, a DIFFERENT song from another game!"
"Okay, now we're gonna play a classic, Aerith's theme! [cheers] Yeah yeah I know, we're all excited for Remake part 2. Where is it, Square? Anyway, Aerith's theme. But first, Ragnarok, from FFXI!" Tease.
The scenes for Aerith's theme played like a tribute to her and included so many Clerith scenes too, on top of her death scene. Tears.
Rikki, the original vocalist for FFX, sang Suteki Da Ne and I think I've unlocked something spiritually.
Yoko Shimomura was there, and I'd known this in advance, but I hadn't expected to get so emotional about it. Obviously she was there as the composer of FFXV, but she's had such a huge role in my childhood as the composer of Kingdom Hearts that every time I remembered she was actually there, like, in the same room as me and I could see her from my seat, I teared up something awful. Thank you, Ms Shimomura, thank you so much.
They did a fake-out after the Main Theme of Final Fantasy. It was the last *named* song on the programme and they showed the credits, but there were two more songs marked with question marks in the tour booklet, so I knew it wasn't over. Roth left the stage for ten seconds and came back for To Zanarkand.
Obviously, live orchestra To Zanarkand is a religious experience.
After that, the choir stood up and I was chanting "One-Winged Angel One-Winged Angel One-Winged Angel" under my breath. And then it WAS and all the lights went red on the first note literally iconic 15/10 this is what One-Winged Angel deserves.
I *bawled* during the entirety of Not Alone and To Zanarkand, and had to try very hard not to make a sound.
During To Zanarkand, the screen showed a scene of Tidus crying and I was like yeah buddy me too.
As it turned out, I was sliiiightly overdressed in a nice dress and heels in a sea of people wearing merch t-shirts and hoodies. They were correct though, I am INTENSELY jealous of every single piece of merch I saw. But there WAS someone else dressed to the nines, as I spotted a full Remake Wall Market Red Dress Aerith. I also saw one Remake Wall Market Sporty Tifa and two closet cosplay Aeriths, as well as someone wearing Cloud's AC outfit and someone in a Zack wig. There were also a lot of people in what I assume were FFXIV cosplays, but I wouldn't know better haha.
Again, just the experience of being there, together with so many people who have something in common with you, was overwhelming. I guess it's something similar to being at a normal concert, or a big sports event, but the big difference here is that we weren't there *just* for the music for its own sake. We're all fans of the *stories* that the music helps to tell, and that's really special if you ask me.
I bought the FFVIIR Orchestral Arrangement CD (a stupid purchase, as I don't own a CD player, but it gave me so much serotonin), the concert t-shirt, and the tour booklet with interviews and insights. A minute of silence for the Tonberry, Cactuar, Chocobo, and Moogle plushies that I had to leave behind because they wouldn't fit inside my luggage.
While I was in Victoria Coach Station, four whole hours early for my bus (rough day and night), I poured through the tour booklet and I was moved to tears again. These people all put so much love and care into the songs and the concert, and I couldn't be more thankful for all of them.
Also, Distant Worlds Coral is a pun. 35 (as in, 35th anniversary) in Japanese is read "san, go," and "sango" means "coral." Also a play on "choral" music. Everyone here is a dweeb oh my god.
Before the concert, a friend of mine asked me which songs I was expecting to make me cry. While I was wrong in that *every song* made me cry, the only songs on my list that didn't happen were Terra's Theme and the Main Theme of FFVII. Aerith's Theme, Not Alone, To Zanarkand, Main Theme of Final Fantasy, Prelude? All accounted for.
The second I landed in Stansted I found out that Distant Worlds is going to be in Rome in February and YOU KNOW WHAT.
I think that's all? 17/10 amazing spectacular showstopping I'm gonna be thinking about it for the rest of my life have a good day.

𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬
1. WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE SMELL LIKE?
According to his official eau de toilette “A mix of refreshing floral, fruity and oriental scents.”
In reality, he probably smells like someone who has not changed their clothes in over a year, doesn’t know when they’ll get their next shower, hair spray, sword cleaning polish, and traces of mako that will forever cling to his skin.
2. WHAT DO YOUR MUSE’S HANDS FEEL LIKE?
If Madame M is to be believed “The strong, firm hands of a fighter. Yet they possess a certain elegance and grace.”
3. WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE USUALLY EAT IN A DAY?
Cloud forgets to eat most days, then claim SOLDIERs don't need as many calories as the average person (liar). Since the party is normally on the road, resting at a local Inn or camping outside under the stars, Cloud will eat just about anything put in front of him regardless if he likes it or not.
He does however have a fondness for homemade cooking, especially his Mother’s Stew and whatever Tifa can whip up.
4. DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE A GOOD SINGING VOICE?
No. Cloud doesn't speak very often and when he does it’s delivered in this same tone that’s blunt and straight to the point. He hasn't exercised his vocals cords enough to get any real range out of them.
5. DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE ANY BAD HABITS OR NERVOUS TICKS?
He crosses his arms when he’s feeling defensive and occassionally taps his foot when idle for too long. If he fails to come up with a witty comeback then he does this adorable pout and go “hmph!” (Does that count?)
6. WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE USUALLY LOOK LIKE / WEAR?
Cloud spends most of the game wearing whatever he has on hand, which is either his old infantryman uniform in Crisis Core or the SOLDIER uniform gifted to him by Zack. Advent Children is when we see Cloud actually wearing what he wants; all black outfits with many belts and wolf patterns, and an unnecessary half-skirt that matches Tifa’s own garb.
7. IS YOUR MUSE AFFECTIONATE?  HOW MUCH?  HOW SO?
Cloud does not show affection in the traditional way. The lack of social skills he learned as a kid and the trauma he suffured in Hojo’s lab have emotionally stunted him. This is best illustrated in FF7R when Tifa breaks down in front of Cloud in Aerith’s garden and Cloud doesn’t know how to help, so he mimics what he saw Barret do for Tifa when the plate fell, he hugs her. This gesture doesn't come naturally to Cloud and he sorta ruins it by hugging her too tightly.
Instead, Cloud shows affection by caring for the physical well-being of his loved ones. He offers Tifa advice like a coach would, he steps between Barret and a possible threat, goads NPCs into making better life choices, goes along on Jessie’s side quest, and in the case of Aerith, he doesn’t stop to consider how ridiculous it is to offer to walk her back home after she just went through the trouble of escorting him to Sector 7 in the first place.
Cloud acts tough but has proven that he will drop everything if someone needs help. He's kinda like your dad, isn't too good with the emotional support stuff, but great at doing these small acts of kindness that make your day slightly less shitty.
8. WHAT POSITION DOES YOUR MUSE SLEEP IN?
He’ll initially sleep on his back but at some point in the night curl up on his side. Sometime he’ll even fall sleeping sitting up with one leg drawn to his chest.
9. COULD YOU HEAR YOUR MUSE IN THE HALLWAY FROM ANOTHER ROOM?
Cloud has been proven to be quite stealthy, despite what the giant hunk of steel on his back would have you believe.

So here we have it. Finally! The Skywheel Date! And Aerith is the one holding her hand out to help Cloud in XD
Tumblr media
She wanted him to sit next to her... but he didn't. You know... he is complicated and things are complicated as well.
Tumblr media
Here we have the infamous scene from the Trailer. As I always knew, she actually fell and that is why she was in his arms, as he catched her and of course...
Tumblr media
...they did not kiss ^^'
Tumblr media
The embarrassment was adorable tho XD
Tumblr media
Its very important that they finally talked about this. The fandom has been going on and on and on about this and so it was necessary for Aerith to admit that yes, at the beginning it truly was like that, but that now, things have changed and she actually wants to be with the real Cloud and she is trying really hard to find him.
It was also important that it was mentioned that at this point, both Aerith and Cloud are aware that Cloud has been Friends with Zack but that Aerith doesn't see it as something important. That sounds mean towards Zack but remember, in this timeline, he has been gone for 5 years. Aeris has the right, to finally move on and that also means, she doesn't have to hold back, just because Zack and Cloud have been friends once. She did not knew that when she fell for Cloud anyway...
Tumblr media
I loved how she decided that instead of talking, bodycontact would be the better way to do this. Talking was confusing him, but she not once has not been allowed to touch him so far, so... that always worked and she knew it would again.
Tumblr media
Isn't that kind of cute? ♥
Tumblr media
Doing this has a huge meaning in Japanese media. Just saying... (And it won't be the last time you see them doing this.)
Tumblr media
This was so worth all the trouble.
Tumblr media
And now its his turn to give her his hand. She saved him, he saved her... round and round it goes ♥
We talk about this date in more detail in a minute, let me just get to a point were I can save first.
OKAY. I saved and ended the game for today. So... lets say a few word about the date shall we? And I think we should do the date as a whole too, not just the Skywheel-Part.
I did not like it so much to be honest, that Aerith vanished from the Loveless viewing. I get why and I assume she didn't know she would be gone for longer than a few minutes, but I still think it was not nice to drag Cloud there and then just "vanish" until she showed up as Rosa in the play. I also don't get why Cloud didn't go searching for her. Yes, she might just have been in the bathroom, but especially with Aerith and given how he usually is so overprotective of her, it seemed weird that he just shrugged it off and put his VR-Thingy back on as if it was nothing.
Aerith did show up as Rosa tho... and I honestly think - all shipping discourse aside - that she was meant to be for the role? I mean, she is a Cetra, which makes her something along the lines of a princess or goddess or so. At least she is more "special" than Tifa and Yuffi when it comes to her heritage. ALSO she is the only one who actually wields a staff in her actual life. Also "a chance meeting always ends in tragedy" is kind of... what happened to them, didn't it? Aerith actually even mentions it in her song by singing: "Could it be chance?" after saying she won't say it was fate or destiny. And it does end in a tragedy indeed. Tifa is fine and will stay fine all the way through the end. Same goes for Yuffi. This also could bring us back to "losing what you cherish most" part, which only fits Aerith. (Granted tho, you can cherish people in multiple ways...) In that sense, depending on who your date was, this character should be your most cherished person and should tragically die, just saying... *achem* In any case I also think it fits with the clock falling possibly representing them running out of time, but also the final, were he does not ask to promise she wait for him, because he knows she will. No need for either Tifa nor Yuffi to wait for him - at best to wait for him to get better, but even then it wouldn't fit Tifa, as she is the one fixing him, so no need to wait. Which explains why Aerith is the default Rosa. It just fits her story and character best.
All in all tho, Cloud would have never played that role this accurately XD This was just a virtual reality experience and I guess that is the reason why they did it that way. Its like "A wizard did it". There is no explanation needed for, how the characters know the text or what their role is about to do or the steps in fighting scenes and all that stuff. Tho it felt weird when at the end they were all on the stage like they actually proudly played that role themselves XD But once again, let's just not question it. I guess it was just there for the entertainment of the player.
Now to the songs. Here it doesn't matter who plays Rosa. Aerith is the one singing the song ALWAYS. Tho Clouds reaction slightly differed depending on who your date was. For example, when you Date Tifa, she is holding your hand the whole time while Aeriths sings a lovesong for Cloud... which is weird and tactless. BUT sitting on that Watertower with Cloud was also a bit tactless of Aerith, so I guess we led that slide. With Barett by the way, he is swaying with Cloud, which is really funny and adorable at the same time. Clouds reaction when Aerith is his date and he solely focuses on her, is the best tho and actually the most fitting - but I guess that after giving Aerith and Cloud a canon lovesong, which Aerith herself sings, they at least had to do something to give the other dates some spotlight while the song was playing. Either way, afterward Cloud gives Aerith the moment of recognition she deserves. We could talk more about all the possible reasons for her tears and sadness at the end of the song. But we know what is coming, so lets leave it at that.
I have to say tho, if you don't think about the Lyrics too hard, you could fit that song to Aerith and Zack as well. So if it wouldn't have been for the canon interview, people who prefer Aerith with Zack, could be fine with that song as well - especially if Tifa is holding hands with Cloud while Aeriths sings.
Anyway... back to the actual date and now we are getting to the Skywheel. Lets talk about why Cloud is... so... Cloud in this scene and gives us a hard time and why we do not get any kind of kiss. While Tifa gets an actual kiss and Yuffi kisses Cloud on the cheek.
So... for starters:
Aerith and Cloud do know each other for about 2 weeks or so at this point. While Tifa and Cloud know each other since childhood. And while I have no idea what business Yuffi had, kissing Cloud on the cheek, I am pretty sure it is just something that fits her quirky character, because she isn't much of an (over)thinker, if you get me. She feels like it? She does it! XD PLUS if the Soldier she has been in love with was actually Zack (I have not seen the other two dates yet, I just know some stuff... - I will watch them eventually and react to them, but I need to be in the mood for that ^^') then Cloud is the closest she can get to Zack at the moment if you get me.
The next thing is the way Cloud acts around the girls and the way their chemistry works is absolutely freaking different from each other. Its really hard to put into words, but watch Cloud interact with the girls, especially when they are out on missions and only one of the girl is active with him and you can see and feel the difference. If I had to put it into words I'd say Cloud and Tifa are more... intimate in the way they interact or touch each other, but they also have things between them that sometimes gets in the way. Cloud also lacks the attention he gives to Aeriths feelings, when it comes to Tifa. Witj Aerith he pays much more attention to her emotions and her emotional state and he is very protective of her, while he trusts Tifa (and likely also Yuffi) that they can protect themselves (as scene with the scene with the Tornados...) but their touches and the way their interact with each other are not intimate, its more on a cuter level, a more careful level. They don't mind the body contact, but its more the handholding-innocent- kind of body contact. With Yuffi... Cloud has close to no contact, if we are honest. Body and soul and even talking. No idea what SE thought giving her a date with a freaking cheek kiss. If anything, I think she annoys Cloud ^^'
And something that plays a major role in the relationship between Cloud and Aerith is the Zack - Issue. Even more so now that Clouds remembers him and the fact that they were friends and that Zack even gushed over Aerith right in front of him - obviously before Cloud knew her tho. That ought to create a rift between Cloud and Aerith, especially after she admitted that she maybe still has feelings for Zack. How close do you want to get to a woman who still has feelings for a man that was head over heals for her? Also... should you put yourself next to her, given how he was just friend who loved her dearly and deeply? And also Aerith. She was drawn to the Zack in Cloud, she admits as much in the date - and once again, it was good and important that she did - and while I think she is the one getting the real Cloud out of his Zack-Shell the most, she still has to be aware of the fact that she probably does not fully know the true and real Cloud yet, even tho she wants to. This is a quite messy situation. Complicated too.
So... there is lots of room for being careful and distant here and not much room for intimacy and closeness.
Cloud and Aerith, as much as it saddens me, were NOT ready for a kiss yet. Getting that moment of closeness via the hand holding and cuddling was plenty for a relationship that is more of an innocent nature and has yet many obstacles to overcome - sadly, we are running out of time for this.
And that is also an important point. Something we have to point out here. When Aerith told Cloud in the first game not to fall in love with her, she contradicted her own words by the fact that she wasn't able to stop herself from touching him. The reason for this warning wasn't just the Zack issue es her following words that those feelings are not real would suggest. Its also something to guard herself and him. She knows she is going to die and that it will hurt them both that they never had the time to truly explore what could have been if they did have more time. PLUS this Aerith knew Clouds struggled after her death. And I am not just talking about the mental breakdown Tifa got him out of. I am also talking about the state he was in in Advent Children. Melancholic, depressed and full of guilt and regret and a feeling of loneliness always within his heart. You don't know that yet, but in a later scene, Aerith specifically tells Cloud not to blame himself for whatever will happen and everyone who has scene their scene from AC knows exactly why. Aerith tried to prevent Clouds from suffering, making it so that technically she has to keep her distance. I guess that is also one of the reason why she is not opposing Cloud and Tifa. And all that plays a role in that date. She wants to be with Cloud. Aeriths has feelings for him. But she runs out of time and there is so much going on beneath all of that. And than we have Cloud, not knowing where to put that "on off" behavior of her. How to deal with Zack standing between them. Not knowing what to think of her warning from the first game. And probably not knowing what he truly wants himself either, because he said it himself in that scene with Tifa earlier in the game, sometimes he doesn't even know who he is anymore.
Once again, it is complicated and I think that is also what caused him to act cold at first. However, I do think, all things considered, that we got the best scene possible for this ship and we should be happy about it.
And we are not completely done yet. You will get another "Date" with Aerith later that is non-optional. So... enjoy it for it doesn't last much longer my dears.

The New Red Herrings: Biggs and Zack and How Avalanche Tells Us the LTD is Dead
Biggs and Zack are seemingly alive at the end of FFVII Remake Part 1 - so what does that mean? Will they live throughout the story? Maybe they’ll be like Wedge and escape death initially, only to be forced to face it shortly after?
There’s also interesting similarities on the death scenes of Biggs and Zack, A while ago I took screenshots of the “death” scene of Biggs and thought it was interesting how they had Biggs touch Cloud’s head and also made him promise something.
And how are all these things connected to the LTD?
Now, clearly, neither Biggs or Jessie had as dramatic of a death as Zack or Aerith. We actually see the initial injury or incident that causes each of them to die. Cloud comes upon Biggs while he’s already sitting down injured. Cloud and Tifa come to Jessie after she’s under the rubble and try to save her.
Tumblr media
We know Cloud pretty much loses it when Zack dies. He collapses mentally. He’s already been through enough shit to fill a lifetime, and now his only friend, his best friend, and the guy who saved his life, dies trying to get them back to Midgar.
Why Zack is Important to Cloud
Tumblr media
Relationship wise, Cloud obviously had a much deeper connection to Zack. At the point that Biggs dies, he doesn’t know any of that, but I think his death definitely triggers something in him. Biggs saw through Cloud’s front. We know Biggs dealt with the kids at the Leaf House, and most likely acted like a volunteer in the Big Brother program. He tells Cloud he’s got a lot in common with the kids at the Leaf House.
Zack had Cloud take on the responsibility to be his living legacy. Of course we all know he shuts down about five minutes later. Biggs had Cloud promise that this wouldn’t all be for nothing. In both cases, it doesn’t work out. He forgets what Zack told him and the Sector 7 plate still falls.
Tumblr media
Zack’s death has a major impact on Cloud - it’s ultimately what breaks him. It also gives us these really sad moments of somebody who’s already been through so much and is breaking now.
Tumblr media
Cloud is upset about Biggs. He was becoming his friend. The three Avalanche members really did accept Cloud and tried to be his friend. He was included with them - in most cases. Of course there’s the Avalanche party that he’s kicked out of (mind you - he does this to himself by acting like an ass to Barret and them) and then during Chapter 4, he’s separated to go steal Jessie’s dad’s ID.
Ultimately, though, we know that Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie all like Cloud. They seem to see through the hard exterior pretty easily. So Cloud loses another person in his life.
The ending of FFVII Remake takes an interesting turn. Anybody who played OG or CC knows what is supposed to happen to Biggs and Zack.
But, Remake’s ending seems to imply that they survive the event that was supposed to take them out.
Tumblr media
Did Zack survive the last stand? Is this a case of the Last Stand in CC being combined with OG where as they walk away, Zack ends up getting shot anyway?
Tumblr media
So we also see Biggs.... wait, wrong picture.
Tumblr media
That’s the right one. We get a shot of Charlie Sheen Biggs waking up in a bed in what looks like some type of either infirmary or large room. In OG, we know that all three of the Avalanche members die during the Sector 7 plate fall. In Remake, the only one we get confirmation on is Jessie, and that’s only in the Chapter description.
Wedge we know survives until the Shinra building, where the Whispers ultimately take him out since he defied fate.
So, what will happen to Biggs?
Tumblr media
The biggest thing talked about seems to be the ending. Zack surviving created a lot of buzz. Is there a second timeline? Is he going to just simply walk another 10 feet and get shot in the back? Did her survive in the first place? Why does Stamp look different on that bootleg chip bag?
Will we have a beautiful Zerith reunion?
Tumblr media
In the OG, the Love Triangle illusion was the red herring. This was mostly to trick and distract the player to focus on something, so later they can destroy you with major twists. It also was used to get the player to like Aerith so her death would be more impactful. In addition, it makes the whole Northern Crater confession from Cloud about Tifa’s opinion being the only one that matters a slam in your face of holy shit what is going on?!
Tumblr media
At this point, everybody and their mother knows Aerith dies. It’s not something that was kept a secret. It’s referenced in various materials. The one thing not openly referenced is what’s going on with Cloud. They never reference the Lifestream, the fake persona, or anything outside of the OG and Ultimanias. I think this is a shame since it’s such an important part of his character arc, but I get that they want to try and leave the element of surprise in play.
Tumblr media
I think everybody would agree that the moment you find out Cloud was just a grunt that was WITH Zack during the Nibelheim incident is super powerful. I still get chills all these years later. Letting this be a well known thing would take away the element of surprise from new fans. Of course, people can go online and read blogs like this one and know all of this, but for somebody - especially future generations - who may just be looking for a new game to play, you’d want this element of surprise to stay in tact.
Tumblr media
We can’t use Aerith as the only red herring anymore, and we can’t use the love triangle. For many reasons. Everybody knows about it and the love triangle was a poor choice for something like this because some people missed the point completely.
Now, FFVII Twitter is always on fire.
Also, even though the Lifestream and Cloud’s true identity are pretty well kept secrets in terms of printed media, most of the people who played FFVII Remake played the original game, they know what happens. People who were new and played Remake first most likely went and bought OG and played it. So now they know what happens.
They knew this, or they probably wouldn’t have shown Cloud in this state, but even for those who don’t, the alternate timeline theory is born. Biggs enhances this theory because he’s alive too. How can Cloud walk past them AND be carried by Zack in some catatonic state?
It keeps us distracted. They want us to think that fate can be changed. In the case of Zack, they’re even saying that the past can be changed.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, whatever they do, it’ll be shocking to most players. I do trust that the devs aren’t being deceitful when they say they are going to keep the major plot points the same and FFVII will be FFVII going forward. Part 1 keeps major plot points but adds substance to a lot of things. They took out unnecessary parts and enhanced others. They also removed a lot of the love triangle stuff.
Tumblr media
Another striking thing with all of this is the Jessie factor. The Chapter screen tells us she died - it only says Biggs was seriously injured. That hasn’t stopped speculation.
Tumblr media
The ending shows gloves on the table next to Biggs’ bed and a lot people said oh it’s Jessie’s left glove! And it does appear that it is. There’s only one glove. To me, this seems like they recovered her body and were able to pull of some personal affects of hers to leave with Biggs. Both articles look damaged or faded.
Faded could mean they’ve been sitting in the sun for a while. The incident happened a few days ago, though we don’t have a definitive time on when we’re shown Biggs. This could be a future look.
They also could simply be damaged and full of dust from the plate collapse.
Tumblr media
It is implied in Chapter 4 if you listen to the conversation between Jessie’s mom and the gang that Biggs and Jessie have a different relationship than Wedge and Jessie.
I have some thoughts on what this may mean:
Biggs is Jessie’s BFF and her mom likes him.
Jessie and Biggs dated at one point and decided to not tell her mom that they no longer are or that its casual.
Jessie’s mom was hounding Jessie about finding a man so she picked Biggs to be her pretend boyfriend and he agreed.
Biggs and Jessie are secretly dating and only her mom knows.
Which one do I think it is? Well, knowing Jessie, I can definitely see her doing #3. I can absolutely see her acting like Biggs is her boyfriend to get her mom off her back. I think #1 and #2 are also huge possibilities. #4 is far fetched, but they could cover it up by having Jessie flirt relentlessly with Cloud and appear to be single.
Some people think that Jessie will end up at the Gold Saucer singing. Personally, I really hope not. If they keep a bunch of people alive (even if it’s for a short amount of time), it really takes away one of the major themes of FFVII which is death and moving on. In addition, I think it’s too many people they’d need to kill off later. Jessie is a very popular character, so I hope they don’t take that as an incentive to change that aspect of the story.
Tumblr media
Aerith’s funeral and Jessie’s death are similar as well, so I think it is foreshadowing some things.
Tumblr media
We get a princess style carry here. Aerith and Jessie both get these in Remake. Jessie’s second one ends in her death. Will Aerith get a second princess carry by Cloud? Will it be to take her to her final resting place?
Maybe she won’t even go to the lake - maybe to the sky?
Tumblr media
We know Tifa was super upset in OG, and they really don’t touch on it much. We only see her run away crying after this moment. You learn in Case of Tifa that she’s really upset about, but a lot of people don’t read Case of Tifa, so they only know this scene.
Tumblr media
We know that she gets very upset over Jessie’s death.
I think Aerith’s death will be much worse.
Tumblr media
It seems Jessie’s death is a reference to how Aerith’s death was handled in the OG.
Tumblr media
Will it be handled the same? Maybe. I think they’re going to make it seem like she’s going to be okay, and then boom.
So the ending gives us hope that we have two friends that are alive. It makes us think that we can save Aerith. I do think Wedge’s death towards the end and comments that Red XIII made in Chapter 17 may also be hinting towards the fact that you cannot change the past and you cannot change fate.
Over on Discord, @anesuna brought up a good point about Wedge’s cats. Biggums survives the plate collapse along with Wedge. The other two cats - Reggie and Smalls - sadly perish (::cries a lot::). This could also be a reference that Biggs survived while Jessie and Wedge do not.
So what about the LTD?
Tumblr media
I think this is a heavy reference to the old OG love triangle. Don’t fall for it! They’re warning players now instead of wanting them to fall for it.
Tumblr media
Why do I say this? Aerith seemed to think the love triangle was fun. Thing is, Cloud wasn’t all there at this point, so it was just an illusion. Since players didn’t seem to get that the first time, they’re going to make it clear now. There were a lot of aspects they seemed to take from Aerith and give to Jessie. Overly flirty (with Jessie they added thirsty) and being overly childish at times. Aerith in remake is still somewhat childish, but not completely.
Tumblr media
Oblivious Cloud is Oblivious. Yeah, he was oblivious in OG that Aerith and Tifa had feelings for him. He has no idea what Wedge is talking about now. Earlier in this same conversation he thinks that Wedge is telling him not to come around because people will gossip about Jessie being in Avalanche, but the player knows really what he’s referring to...
Tumblr media
I think this is probably a reference to the Gold Saucer date because of the stage part. I take things at face value and don’t really dig too deep, but I think this exchange with Wedge is supposed to tell the player not to fall for these false loves early in the game.
Tumblr media
It’s brought up again during Aerith’s resolution scene.
Tumblr media
Earlier Wedge said not to fall for Jessie’s trick, because it was a game to her. It wasn’t real love. Aerith is now telling her that if Cloud thinks he falls in love with her, it’s not real.
We have two separate instances in the game where they’re telling you to beware of the false love. It’s two times the word love is used.
After all of this, the ending presents us with two guys who should be dead that appear to be alive. One of them is directly connected to Aerith.
This was their way of trying to shut down the LTD and replace it with different red herrings. Will it work as well as the LTD? Well, it seems that the majority of FFVII Remake fans have talked about the ending.
Yes, a lot of people talk about the LTD, but I think the majority of players are more interested overall in what happens next and what’s up with Zack. I think the majority of the fandom is also ready for the LTD to officially be dead so we can actually focus on everything else and stop the madness.
It’ll never fully stop, but at least it’ll be clear for anybody who plays the game and alleviate the bulk of the chaos.
Tumblr media
Say hello to your new red herrings: Biggs and Zack.
Tumblr media
Say bye to the LTD.

I really think that trailer was just throwing us off and throwing a bone to those who don’t buy it. The Aerith GS date is always talked about by devs, they know it’s the fan service moment before her death. They used that and it backfired more than they anticipated. But I’m not worried about Cloti. The remake trailers didn’t show even an ounce of the amount of Cloti we got, all the cheeky comments walking around and all the grabbing during combat cinematics. 😌💕
Not to mention so much has been done to build up Cloti this time. So much groundwork. Like moments into the game Jessie asks about Cloud and Tifa, it’s set up right from the get go. Cloud getting jealous. Cloud openly flirting with her (the flower, the beautiful comment). Even Marle ffs stops Cloud and implies what she does and then comments on them both. I’m sure CAs take that like “she said she needs a FRIEND” and not understanding the context of “she needs a friend not a fuckboi” because she can see how enamoured he is. The only time we really see Cloud open up with dialogue when you’re walking around is in Chapter 3 with Tifa. He is the one asking questions and keeping the conversation going. The whole rooftops with Aerith is her being annoying, him grunting/shrugging her off and then her usual OOPS I TRIPPED I NEED ATTENTION!
There’s just no way they are setting up what they have been with the intention of giving us the middle finger. Just some choices are so dense I can’t believe they didn’t make them on purpose to stoke the flames. Making a song called “No promises to keep” when your two canon couples are both based on promises seems shady as fuck. And none of this makes Aerith look good after she was so supportive of Cloti in remake. Literally called Tifa someone special to Cloud then she’s grabbing his arm and doing her tripped tactic. 🙄 Also in TOTP it’s supposed to be Aerith and Tifa sharing stories with one another - so I need reminding but doesn’t that mean she told Aerith about the water tower?
I am so certain Cloud is going to push her off him or dismiss her like he did in the OG. It’s fan service BS. CAs still won’t buy the game for it because they don’t know how to play, they don’t know other characters and they’ll just watch the “All Cloud and Aerith Scenes” video for a grand total of 22 minutes or something. Then babble on about that being canon along with a couple posts about Barret/Dyne being “OMG so sad 😭” to make it seem like they play.
I just hope they stick to their guns and make sure Aerith isn’t as prominent in Part 3. That is NOT her part. She does her bit. We’ve already had to endure her for longer than we should have. Her death won’t be meaningful if we have her whiny voice making comments from the lifestream every 5 minutes.
Sorry for venting but you’re the only person who seems to get it in this damn fandom.
Tifa never told anyone about the water tower. There's parts of her recount where she's speaking to someone, but some parts are introspective, and that's one of them.
Aerith also doesn't listen to Tifa unless it interests her. She was around for the picnic bit then fucked off for the rest. Tifa tells most of her story to Red.
The ost does come off shady AF. Cloud never made a promise to Aerith for one to be mentioned either way, and given it's the ost for the whole game, you'd think it would focus on things that happened over things that didn't, but for some random reason not-aerith's-singing-voice-in-a-million-years is going on about promises, and the only one who made her a promise is Zack.
Some people are gonna be super angy with this game they aren't gonna play 🤣🤷

@polyfacetious big ass Christmas Drabble Extravagaza: Day Twenty Two
Aerith Gainsborough has a gift. And that gift is talking people into doing something that they don’t want to do and making it feel like it was their idea in the first place. That’s the only reason Geralt can find for the fact that he’s sitting in a coffee shop on a Friday night, listening to slam poetry and geeks on guitars.
There isn’t even beer here. No spiked ciders or even Irish coffee. It’s a fucking travesty, and every time he builds himself up to say something about it, Geralt looks down at the tiny woman with a grip on his arm, and he swallows it.
Damn those eyes.
I can hear the cannons calling, as though across a dream-
Geralt pulls his sour gaze away from the top of Aerith’s head when he hears the first strains of the song. This wasn’t some hipster strumming along with a woeful little play at a folk song. There was something haunting in that voice that was drawing Geralt in.
The sight that greets him isn’t so bad either.
The man perched on the edge of the stool, a guitar propped on his knee was gorgeous. The line of his stong neck was curved as he looked down at clever, graceful fingers plucking at the strings. Brown hair brushed against his forehead, and when the singer looks up, Geralt feels a jolt in his gut.
Like the singer is looking right at him.
Distantly, he hears Aerith tell him that Cloud was there, a pat to his arm before she disappeared into the eclectic crowd. And any other night, this would have been the moment that Geralt left his seat and got the hell out of here.
But he’s pinned to the spot now, trapped beneath the stare of incredibly blue eyes and a voice that curled against the base of Geralt’s spine and laid down roots.
The song is sad, too weighty to just be called melancholy. It casts a spell over the room, most of the idle chatter and clinking of flatware and dishes falling away to the sound of it. And when it ends on a low, aching note, Geralt is pulled from the spell of it by the eruption of applause around the room.
The singer smiles, and it changes his whole face. Gone was the melancholy boy singing about lost loves. Unfortunately for Geralt, what was in his place was a disgustingly good looking man. Why did people have to be both talented, and good looking? It was unnatural.
Geralt watches him step down from the stage, cradling his guitar in his hands like it was something special, until he could slide it back into the soft case he had for it, propped up against the back wall of the coffee shop, far enough away from the lights of the makeshift stage that he wasn’t drawing attention away from the next person on the stage. (Geralt isn’t sure if it’s a man or a woman who’s taken up the stage now. He’d have to be able to look away from the singer to do that.)
Any thought Geralt might have stifled about going up and saying something to the singer is lost when people start to crowd around him. “Jaskier!” That’s Magnus, who owns the place, who swans up to the singer, this Jaskier and embraces him warmly, kissing both of his cheeks. “One of these days darling, I’m going to get you to play a happy song.”
Jaskier smiles, nose crinkling. “Oh, you know me Mags. Art is pain, et cetera, et cetera.” Jaskier waves the words away as Magnus turns back to answer a question from someone else. There was still a gaggle of people around Jaskier, and Geralt turns his glare down towards the Earl Grey in a steaming mug in his hands.
Stupid. What would he even do with a pretty little thing like that? (The back of his mind has a few vivid, sweat soaked suggestions. Geralt ignores those.) Nothing. It’s not like they’d have anything in common. It would be pointless to talk to him in the first place, and it would only end badly if he did.
Geralt downs the rest of his tea in three long scalding gulps and puts the mug down on the table. There was no reason for him to stay now, Aerith just liked the company on her walk over, and Geralt liked glaring at idiots who thought they might want to talk to her. She had her blonde boy there now, and Aerith would decide if she wanted him to walk her home. Which meant it was time for Geralt to go.
“I love the way you just sit in the corner and...brood.” The words startle Geralt from his thoughts, and he looks up to find himself face to face with those stained glass blue eyes. Damn, Jaskier was quiet on his feet. (Or Geralt wasn’t paying enough attention to his surroundings.)
“I’m here because a friend doesn’t like to walk at night alone.” He’s here, right now, because he couldn’t stop looking at the man in front of him. Now Geralt just has to convince them both that it’s a load of horse shit.
“Good. Right. Yes.” Jaskier takes a seat from the row in front of Geralt’s and straddles it, because Geralt’s life isn’t hard enough right now. (And his life isn’t the only thing that’s hard, either.) “Well. No one else hesitated to comment on the quality of my performance. Except you.”
It shouldn’t be charming, the bastard going from group to group around the room to collect his praise for a song well done. And yet, here they are.
“Come on.” It’s wheedling, Jaskier leaning the chair forward so that only two legs are still on the ground, his chin resting on his crossed arms. “You don’t want to keep a man with...bread in his pants waiting, now do you?”
Geralt knows better than to engage. He knows. And still the words leave his stupid mouth. “If that’s a metaphor, I don’t understand it.”
Jaskier grins. “Oh no, I never joke about bread in my pants. Watch.” Geralt watches, because what the fuck else is a man supposed to do when he sees a twink wiggling on a chair to pull a flattened piece of pain au chocolat out of his pocket, still wrapped in the plastic wrap that Bilbo used for his treats. He waves the bread around and takes a hearty bite before he speaks again. “You must have some review for me. Three words or less.”
‘I want you’ are the first three words that come to mind. And as much as Geralt is starting to get the impression that it’s mutual, he’s not putting himself down that road. Fucking some out of towner was one thing, or the girls in the red light district. It was a means to an end, a way to scratch an itch.
Fucking a local meant seeing them again. It meant feelings getting involved and everything getting messy. Geralt didn’t need anyone, and the last thing he wanted was someone needing him. “It’s not right.” There. Three words, and as polite a ‘fuck off’ as Geralt can manage.
But the words don’t make Jaskier turn away. If anything, he leans in closer. Geralt subtly places the toe of his boot against the crossbar of Jaskier’s chair to keep it from dumping over forwards. Backwards, he couldn’t help with. “Ooh. Fun. Let me guess. Not a fan of love songs? Flowers? Go on, tell me.”
Bossy. Another thing that shouldn’t be charming but it was. Geralt watches him for a long beat, but the withering stare that seemed to drive people off in droves wasn’t doing a damn thing right about now. “It’s still a lie. Even if no one hears it, you’re still lying to yourself.” Geralt would know. He’s lied to himself more than he’s ever lied to anyone else.
Jaskier, for some bizarre reason, lights up at the words. “Oh, a pedantic. This is so much better than my guess of repressed heterosexual.” Geralt scoffs, but he’s fighting a smile as he does it. Damn it all to hell.
“I’m not repressed.” He’s not heterosexual, either. There were too many good looking people in this world to fuck to leave it just to one side or the other. His mother taught him to clean his plate when he was a boy. Geralt took that missive through all aspects of his life.
“You’re not? Well that’s good to know. You’re also very rumbly.” Jaskier gives him a thumbs up before he tears the smashed remains of his croissant in half and offers it out to Geralt. “If I lure you in with sweets, will you tell me your name?”
Geralt makes a low hum of a sound in his chest, to pretend like he was thinking about it. He plucks the piece of chocolate croissant from the cling wrap and pops it into his mouth. “No.”
“No?” That earns him a bright huff of laughter from Jaskier. “You sir, are a scoundrel and a cad. If I have to lower myself to your nefarious levels to find out your name, then so be it.” Jaskier leans back in his chair and calls across the room. “Oy! Magnus!” There’s a moment before Magnus turns away from a customer, brow raised. “You know his name?”
The entire fucking room is staring at them now. Geralt has never been the kind of man to shrink away, but he’s not a big fan of attention. There are too many eyes on him right now, including Magnus Bane’s bright eyes. God help him if Magnus mentions they’ve fucked.
But surprisingly, Magnus doesn’t call back across the room. He just sends Bilbo’s little brunette assistant over, who grins at the both of them and hands Jaskier a napkin. Jaskier snaps it open, the way you would a newspaper, and hums. “Well well well. It seems you’ve been outmanuevered, my dear….Geralt.”
It’s been awhile since he’s heard his name pronounced correctly. The Mediterranien influence was strong here. They were far from his part of Europe. But he should have known a man named Jaskier would at least be within spitting distance of the parts of the world that Geralt grew up in.
“Oh no.” Geralt’s delivery is flat, as is his expression. “I’ve been found out.”
And he’s never going to admit how much he enjoys the peal of laughter it gets him. Damn it all to hell. “It’s true.” Jaskier nods along solemnly, and Geralt can feel the weight of the chair against his toe. Jaskier would be flat on his face if Geralt wasn’t holding the chair in place. “I’m a master spy. James Bond often calls me for tips. But don’t blame me for his blasphemous taste in martinis. That’s all Jim.”
Jim. Geralt rolls his eyes, but it doesn’t do a fucking thing to deter the pretty little singer staring him down with those blue eyes.
Geralt was in trouble.
“I also taught him how to pick up beautiful, dangerous people.” Geralt wouldn’t consider himself dangerous, but the size of his arms tended to put that idea into people’s heads.
Geralt cocks a brow at him. “When are you going to show me that?”
Jaskier holds a hand to his chest, leaning far back in the other direction. Geralt has to shift his foot quickly behind the cross bar to the chair to keep it from going over backwards. “Oh ho ho, the pretty boy has a sharp tongue! You wound me, sir.”
Fuck it.
Geralt uses his foot on the chair to tip Jaskier back towards him, and he’s rewarded with a yelp. He catches the back of the chair with his hand, knuckles brushing against Jaskier’s forearm as he does. Leaning in himself, the next few words are only for the beautiful disaster in front of him.
“I can show you what else this tongue can do.”

I'll be repeating some things on this post to summarize the past months (especially for Yuffie fans).
These two moments are hinting at the Loveless ending (which Cid originally said at the end of OG FF7, but specifically what's shown in the three date Loveless plays).
The Loveless ending is likely the ending to FF7R part 3. One of the three girls (Aerith, Tifa, or Yuffie) will say goodbye to Cloud as he returns home (his reunion in his "promised land" [in the game he was cut from - FF6 w/ Terra]).
The girl who plays the "role" of Jessie will be the one that says goodbye. This is rather easy to know by a process of elimination based on what things revolve around each character.
Biggs - Orphans Wedge - Cats Jessie - Princess
So...
Aerith - Orphans Tifa - Cats Yuffie - ...
"Princess" is a fancy way of saying either "heroine" or the main girl of the Loveless play (Yuffie wants to be both, although she already sees herself as the heroine [main character of her DLC]). In an easy-to-understand way, the girl with the greatest single-minded interest to Cloud regardless of his negatives represents Jessie.
There's already hints that Yuffie will dance with Cloud by what's shown in her date scene. It'll be connected to the "dance dream" from Remake (Miss Folia) which is connected to Zack's "Dreams and Honor". If Cloud holds on to that "childish dream", he'll break from Sephiroth's control.
It's not my idea, it came from Dissidia with Terra using Firion's dream as a catalyst (fill the world with flowers). Also Zack and Aerith sharing their "dream" in CC to fill Midgar with flowers.
Whoever it is, they will have a very big role in FF7R Part 3, but I'll be frank, it can't be Aerith.
Although, Yuffie is technically the daughter of the ruler of Wutai and calls herself a princess in her date scene, unlike the others.
The "Girl" in Barret's sidequest is representing Terra Branford, the "angel/goddess". That's likely the role Yuffie wants to play. There is a reason why Zack calls Aerith "an angel", the "Angel of the Slums, the Fluffy sidequest in Nibelheim, and also Rinoa from FF8.
For posterity-sake, I'll post a few of the hints from the Yuffie date. The dancing hint is the 3rd image (hard to show in one image), which happens when Aerith is singing. The "Materia Song" Cloud mentions after the 1st image is prob the one she sings in Gongaga when you pick the "funny" option.

Barret though? You do know there are consequences that have to happen first if Yuffie can get what she wants?

Speaking of Galaxy Brain takes on Final Fantasy VII Lore, Allow Me to Sing You The Song of My People
It’s called “AU Where The Turks Find Out That The Tsviets Are A Thing.”
Sometime before the WEAPON attacks (optionally circa Crisis Core’s last act), Reno is being a little shit and hacking into stuff he has no business with and finds out about DeepGround.
Reno, walking into Rufus’ office with the knowledge that there’s an army under the building:
Tumblr media
So rescue mission. With Rufus stepping into Dad’s Secret Elevator (“I always wondered where this went...”) and heading down to check out all his new personnel that are his now.
Most of them are free to go. The minute Rufus sees Actual Child Shelke Rui as what amounts to a prisoner of war, he starts telling people “I’ll either fire you, let you leave, or keep you employed, depending on whether you meet my standards.”
And the Tsviets are nothing if not all about meeting and exceeding standards. They’re high-priority for Rufus.
First thing that happens is mako detox. However that works. I imagine its terrifically unpleasant, accompanied by nausea, fatigue, and general pain while it comes out of the system. (Nero is fine, since I’m pretty sure materia might hurt him? It takes Weiss a while, but he’s on his feet before Rosso, Azul, and Shelke.)
Shelke gets the automatic LEAVE because she’s babie. (She’s sixteen at best by this point, really.) (“Come back in ten years, and we’ll talk.” “Not in your wildest dreams.”)
Azul gets to do whatever. I can see him heading back to Costa De Sol and Fucking Slaughtering everyone in those fighting tournaments.
Which leaves the three lifers: Weiss, Nero, and Rosso. Who probably should be in SOLIDER, but between Weiss’ Utter Perfection and Nero’s easy infiltration skills, those two get recruited to the Turks. Maybe Rosso goes to SOLDIER, maybe Rosso goes to therapy. Who can say?
But Rufus has two brand new Turks, one of whom can basically teleport. And transport inanimate objects and anyone with a Protect materia. And Rufus uses that Protect and M-Protect materia during the Dark Nation fight. So he doesn’t even need Daddy’s Secret Retcon Tunnel. He has a Nero.
But if the Tsviets are hyped-up SOLDIERs, and SOLDIERs are especially susceptible to Geostigma, guess who’s a prime candidate for Advent Children Angst. Probably Weiss more than Nero, since his void is already churning out foreign bodies.
(Geostigma: Who are you? Oblivion: I’m you, but stronger.)
The thing is that Weiss will just let that stigma go and not tell anyone about it. Not even Nero. Because he can totally beat this alone. And he can’t. And he’s got it for months and then just collapses one day. Nero stays at his bedside for months until AC proper kicks off because Rufus tells him he’s going with Tseng and Elena. Which leads to Nero’s very first Real Fight with Rufus, because he’s not going to leave his brother, but he’s also not skipping this mission. Rufus will be able to convince him to go if he frames it right, like “If you go, it will help Weiss more than if you just sit here.”
Nero goes with Tseng and Elena. And, provided he’s quick, he can get himself out, but did Tseng and Elena think to bring Protect materia with them? If not, AC progresses as usual. If they did, he can get them out pretty easily and... AC progresses as usual...?
Back in Healin, Weiss might actually try to fight Kadaj if he’s conscious. He gets the shit kicked out of him, but he tried. When Reno and Rude go to Edge for Reasons, they have to throw Weiss back into bed. Like Cloud, but different.
The Reno/Rude/Yazoo/Loz fight with Nero essentially Flash Stepping around with guns. And it aids and abets his fellow Turks, because if they step into one of his portals, they’re not coming out.  “I’m trying to MOVE, HERE!”  “Move elsewhere.”
I never got how Rufus got out of those nets. But now there’s an easy answer. Nero just absorbed him and put him on the ground.
When the rain starts falling, Weiss gets to Do The Thing and hear Aerith telling him to go outside. He army-crawls out the door and gets some of that sweet rain water.
And then Hojo can die in the computer. And maybe Dirge can still happen, with Hojo being a bastard with a synthetic body in the old DG facility?

E3 2019 in a nutshell {Featuring Sephiroth}
It’s that time of year again.  Like last year, (you can see that post here) I was able to watch most of the E3 except Devolver Digital, and the PC Gaming Show.  Those sadly do not interest me in the least.  This past E3 was mediocre at best.  If it weren't for the hype of FF7 Remake news and gameplay exposition, along with Nintendo ending it with a bang, then this E3 would be doomed.  Let us begin.
EA
Tumblr media
Sigh. Didn't we go through this last year?  Why does E3 have EA kick start the show?  The performance is was terrible this year as well.  They tried a different format instead of the usual conference they did last year.  It took place outside. The first host (forgot his name) was over the top.  He reminded me of that crazy Mr. Caffeine dude from E3 2011.  At least EA has Star Wars going for them. Next...
MICROSOFT
Tumblr media
Despite Keanu Reeves showing up in the Cyber Punk 2077 trailer and then coming on stage (which was badass), I believe Microsoft missed an opportunity to truly blow the show out of water.  Since Sony decided to dip out of this year's E3, now would've been a good of time as any to show off.  They presented a lot of interesting games releasing soon, but most of them had CGI trailers though. People want gameplay.  They aren't at the movies.  Either way, there's some brief talk about XCloud and Project Scarlet.  If anything, Project Scarlet was the most interesting piece of news that came out of this conference for me.
BETHESDA
Tumblr media
Uhh...Can we talk about the crowd?  Todd Howard walks on stage, crowd cheers. Todd apologizes for the flop Fallout 76 caused, crowd cheers.  They go into detail about boring mobile games, crowd cheers.  Paid actors, anyone?  I feel bad for Commander Keen.  Damn.  This dragged out conference has been mostly about patches and 'updates' for games we already know about, mobile games, and CGI trailers with barely any gameplay for upcoming games.  Ghost Wire looks interesting and the lady speaking about the game was cute.  Just wish there was some gameplay for it though.
UBISOFT
Tumblr media
The conference started off good with a gameplay (holy shit gameplay at E3!? Who would of known?!) trailer of the new Watch Dogs.  Then it was down hill from there...The orchestrated music for Assassin's Creed was nice, though I'm not sure if it was appropriate for E3. They spoke about a damn TV show regarding a game developer.  That had me floored.  Since when was E3 about TV shows?  Not to mention it looked ridiculous.  Then there's the infamous Just Dance dance off. Seriously...?   Updates on recent games that just dropped. Woohoo. More mobile game announcements.  Yay.  Oh but it gets worse.  I hope you like subscription services.  They spent at least 10-15 (maybe even longer) minutes talking about UPlay+ for $15.00 a month for PC.
SQUARE ENIX
Tumblr media
New game.  Continue?  Remake?  Hell yeah!  Now we're talkin'!  Who would have thought Square Enix would save E3?!  Of course they dove right in with the FF7 Remake!  Did anyone hear that person sing, Sephi-roth at the start of show in the audience?  Oh that was awesome!  That person totally summoned Sephiroth to E3!  We got gameplay, Sephiroth, action, Tifa, Aeris/Aerith, boss battles, Sephiroth, CGI trailer, a guy explaining the battle mechanics, Cloud and Barret talking smack to each other, Cloud losing his marbles, and did I mention Sephiroth? Holy shit, that was the best damn thirty minutes of E3 compared the the entirety of all the past conferences combined!  They also spoke about KH3 Re: Mind, Avengers game, and more!
NINTENDO
Tumblr media
What an awesome way to end E3!  Stealth drops, surprises, new gameplay trailers, release dates, new content, more announcements for upcoming games coming to the Switch, two new characters coming to Smash Ultimate, the list is endless.  Nintendo went in this year!  They did not hold back.  If anything, the only disappointment would be that Animal Crossing was delayed until March 2020.  Honestly, that's okay since there's a plethora of games coming out this year already for the Switch.  Link's Awakening looks absolutely amazing! Totally in love with that art style.  To top it all off, a trailer presenting Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild sequel was revealed.  Now that's an E3 conference!
That concludes my thoughts on this year’s E3.  Thank goodness Square and Nintendo were on point, or else this E3 would have been such a disappointment.  I’m hoping Sony returns next year as it did seem empty without them there.  Though, in all honesty with the way E3 is going (mobile game announcements, lack of gameplay trailers, TV shows, dance offs, etc.) I’m not sure if it’s even worth it.  At least I got my wish to see Sephiroth at E3!

Note
[ vestir + aerith ] / 13. an interrupted kiss .
Aerith will never get enough of him. He can’t.
Even like this. Mouth to mouth, half undressed, Aerith with his hands in Vestir’s hair. They move together like they’ve been here a million times before, reading each other’s bodies with a fluency that says this, this is their native tongue. Like Vestir knows the soft dragging touch down Aerith’s spine will send a full body shiver through his veins. Because Vestir knows how to make his breath catch, his blood sing.
And all Aerith does is want, is need, is yearn. An ache that yawns in the space between his throat and his heart, like no matter how close he gets, he can never get close enough. He’s waited so long to want Vestir unafraid. And just as long for Vestir to be unafraid to want him back.
“Vere,” he halfsighs. Breathes against Vestir’s mouth, inhaling what he exhales—shuddering, broken. “Vere.”
There’s more there that he wants to say, there always is when they’re alone together like this. But just as they always do, the proper words fail him. Leave him with nothing but the inelegant “fuck,” when Vestir takes the lead from him, collapsing him onto his back.
The weight of him is familiar here, right. Feels not unlike the countless nights they’ve spent tangled together, breathing together, hearts beating together. Aerith arches up into him, closer, ever closer. His teeth catch Vestir’s lip, gentle almost, and Aerith smiles.
But when the door to their room hisses open without warning, Aerith breaks away from Vestir on instinct.
Their trespasser looks… unamused doesn’t quite cover it.
What goes on between them is no secret to the rest of the Cloud Riders—hasn’t been for a long time now—but that doesn’t mean they don’t still take issue with it. Doesn’t mean Aerith wants to be seen like this, either. He looks a mess, desire heavy in the dark of his eyes, the deep flush of his skin. His hand rests against Vestir’s chest, slowly edging the other away from him. There’s apology in his touch. But a promise of later there, too.
“Sorry to interrupt.” Though if the tone of voice is anything to go off of, Aerith would bet they’re not sorry at all. “Ready yourselves to ride at sunsdown.”
