Idk if this is a popular opinion or not, but Larian adding the option to tell Halsin that what he went through while being held captive by the drow was traumatizing and he needs to think about it is both insulting and tactless.
He does speak about it all fairly light heartedly, and he literally tells you that it’s far in the past and indicates that clearly it’s something he’s thought about a lot and has comes to terms with.
It’s so wild that he tells you that he’s healed in his way on his terms, as a 350 year old man, and people are literally raging over what?
That he’s not a traumatized victim for you to fix? That everything about his character is about growth and change and he’s incorporated what was something horrible and traumatic into his life and is now at peace with it? That just like in nature, he’s gone through a cycle of renewal and he’s reached a level of healing few people will ever accomplish where he can even joke?
Like I’m not sorry, we’re probably looking at like 150 years of him meditating and working through this. Halsin, a guy with very high emotional intelligence and focus on healing the past before moving forward (his entire arch with the shadowcurse!) and people are going to infantilize him and tell him he doesn’t understand his own experiences?
No way
Halsin also makes sure to have people perceive him in a certain way. He’s brilliant and knows the power of being able keep up an appearance. Right after you first recruit him you can ask him a ton of questions and get a lot of info on him, except it’s all very surface level and very expected even if you knew nothing about his character. This is after he just talks about seeing you as strong and trusting you too, he’s keeping up the same “Halsin the archdruid” sort of one dimensional character. Everything he says is true, he does whittle and likes honey, but everything he tells you are very small pieces.
From talking to druids at the grove and seeing his research we know he’s an adept healer both magically and in practical medicine, and he’s brilliant with biology (academically incredibly gifted) and has a deep interest in them, likely fixating on both (especially as he tells you people call him obsessed when he gets into things). So why not bring up either?
Because the more he gets into his deeper interests the more questions people have. The more about himself he has to talk about and the harder his carefully constructed “wise old archdruid Halsin” appearance is to maintain.
He’s been archdruid for 100 years, a pretty small amount in an elven life. And at only 350 he’s still young to other elves, but a druid circle fleeing disaster doesn’t want their leader to be some young inexperienced guy. So what to do instead? Embrace that other races think 350 is old, lean into that false perception since it doesn’t hurt anyone and helps your circle feel safe. Maintain a laidback appearance that falls inline with what others expect on the surface and dabble in your interests on your own time (though never hiding your interests).
So yeah, I don’t think Halsin is some emotionally daft man who doesn’t understand trauma and needs the player to “save him” and make him heal.
He did that a long time ago on his own and chooses to make light of it because 1) he truly is past it, 2) it fits with everything else about him as his WHOLE CHARACTER is based around growing from experiences (death of his whole family, the shadowcurse, losing his archdruid and having to fill that role), 3) it lets him be in control of his own narrative.
Halsin is a deep and complex character that prefers that characters in the game have a very specific perception of him unless you really get to know him.
Anyone thinking that man doesn’t know he’s gone through trauma and hasn’t healed is still stuck with an act 1, one dimensional version of him and didn’t take the time to connect the dots.

I'm really over El stans thinking they have room to speak on Will. Calling him ungrateful and shit for having complex feelings about her instead of bling heroworship because she saved his life like he is not obligated to worship the ground she walks on and feel indebted to her for the rest of his life for something he never even asked her for and if we wanna get spicy the only reason he needed to be saved in the first place is cause she opened the gate which they never seem to acknowledge when bitching about Will and either way they are literal siblings now and it's canon they love and care about each other regardless of anything else
Heya!
Yeah, as someone in the tag said the same ppl shitting on Will because he was jealous are the same that loved El hurting Max (even if El herself feels bad and we can see that in the game too).
Idk where they get the idea that Will hates El so much. He NEVER did something bad to her. The only time you can say he was mean was when he called her stupid out of jealous and again, he didn't hurt her and it was not even directed to her.
They forget that Will doesn't know El like the others. The game takes place before S2. When Mike, Lucas and Dustin met El, Will is missing. Then there is S2 and El is missing and between S2 and S3 is established that El and Mike didn't hang out with the others. We don't see El and Will interacting without being about something bad happening. They just had time to actually know each other when they moved to Lenora and they bonded as siblings.
The problem with El stans is that they don't acknowledge her flaws too. She is a human character besides her powers. That's the whole point of her character. She get jealous, she lies, she acts impulsive. But then when Will does the same, he is ungrateful and whatever.
ty for the ask! <3

Hey questions for Chai and everyone here. This is about Stolas and Octavia mainly.
-How come we never see flashbacks to Stolas interacting with Octavia as a teen BEFORE he cheated? We only ever see him be a father to her when she was a toddler (one of the memories is her being traumatized and him being NOWHERE to be found), which makes it seem as though he only cared about his daughter when she was a baby, even though Octavia makes it clear that they were a normal family before Stolas done the deed with Blitz. Sooooo....wtf
-How was the dynamic beforehand? Like in the family. I ask cause how on earth was it at all normal if Stella hates Stolas? We know she didn't fake things cause 1. She's portrayed as stupid and runs solely on her feelings and wants 2. She was okay with bashing and wanting Stolas dead in public seamlessly and loudly, implying there was no such time to switch or hide any of her actual feelings prior. So why tf would Stella care or be capable of hiding how she truly feels about Stolas from Octavia and WHY would she care enough to do so?
-Why did they introduce how much Octavia hated RoboFizz alongside Blitz only to have her never engage in any direct fashion towards the thing and only BLITZO having moments with it? Why not have it where RoboFizz starts to attack, have then fight and it cuts to the chaos leading back to Octavia with Stolas, not only for her dad to see just how much fear and hatred she has for it, but for Blitz to end up saving her from any imminent danger heading her way. It could help actually build off that mutual dislike and put him in a better light for her. Obv it won't make her instantly like him, but it could bring a lot of complexity to the whole cheating situation that could then lead to Octavia running away and the rest of the episode with her and her father (with added material) ensues. Idk, maybe I am wrong on this one since it would need to revise some of the story to fit better, but I felt like they didn't do much with the little piece of info given.
Also random, but how tf does RoboFizz remember ANY of the childhood/teenage memories of their times being in the circus and being clowns? Was that EVER explained cause, um, HOW??? Also, how come Blitz hated Fizz for something HE CAUSED and RUINED someone else's life? WHY IS THE "O" SPECIFICALLY SILENT???
Thoughts?

If somebody says one more time that Kai deserved to not only get kicked but also beaten up by jay in that one fight scene in crystallized I will THROW HANDS. No, I DO NOT hate jay. But I DO HATE tommy anderson
we know why jay acts the way he does. we have information about his past. we have an entire season about him and how he perceives himself (sky bound). Nadakhan literally pointed out that jay uses jokes to cover up insecurity. His true potential showed that he was insecure about being himself (until nya talked to him etc). We got like three seasons of him being the hero and saving entirety of Ninjago.
We were given Information about Cole’s past. We saw his childhood with his gorgeous mom. We saw in his true potential how he desperately wanted to be accepted by his dad. We saw Zane’s past. We saw how he sacrificed himself for the Ninja, understanding and acting upon the same words Kai had told him, “it’s about family, not numbers”. The writers could dive into Zane more, but we got something. And we also got some Nya, why she’s a perfectionist, why she isn’t that verbal, why she’s Independent; Kai said so himself, after all. Even though I wish we saw her talk with Nyad more, we still got her. And the entire series is about our boy Lloyd. And even though every one of them could be explored so much more, we got something. And for a few ninja, we got a lot of something’s. But not Kai. Rarely Kai.
Kai’s true potential was protecting someone. And I loved that, I did. But that’s it. If anything, it literally points out that no, he is not selfish. We never got a season truly revolving around Kai’s childhood struggles/trauma. Why is he reckless? Why is he protective? Why does he never cry? While the other ninja have their spotlights, Kai never had his. He is such a complex character (that ninjago refuses to dive into) and that’s why I love him so much.
I know. I know Kai can be rude to Jay sometimes, and bully him, but if it came down to it, Kai would die for him. Because this is the man that makes his sister happy, because jay does mean a lot to kai. Kai doesn’t show it - frankly, he doesn’t show a lot of things. And I know this doesn’t entirely excuse the way he acted toward jay before, but why. I want to know why he acts like that. But the writers never dwelled on it. Jay is allowed to confront and express his feelings about how Kai for ‘bullying’ him, but not like this ( by the way, idk if I guys noticed but lately Kai has been complimenting/hyping jay up a lot now.)
And when jay, who is grief stricken, leads him self to believe only he loved nya in the entire world, kai is allowed to get angry. Kai is allowed to feel anger towards someone acting like no one else loved nya when Kai raised her. Protected her. Did everything for her. Just because we did not see as much of Kai grieving as we did of Jay, does not mean Jay was more upset. For all we know, Kai was dying on the inside. She was his sister for gods sake.
Kai did not “deserve” that kick. And if you genuinely think that, i honestly do not know what to tell you.

Ok so I'm going to go on a rant about a niche megaman character so if you're not here for that, plz skip followers/mutuals :)
Sooooo the general consensus of Omega is that he's a bloodthirsty monster with little to no agency of his own. I don't necessarily disagree with that given... well... as far as character development goes, we have little to none. Like... the most we get is him calling himself a messiah before fighting. But I don't know... feels a little flat to me. So allow me to go on an unhinged analysis that is most likely 90-99% wrong :•D
So we know that Wile created him as a way to control all reploids because he made the argument that people would get complacent, and eventually, the Mother Elf's miracle cure would no longer work. (Not necessarily wrong, very plausible. But unfortunately, you became the very thing you hate Wile) He instilled Omega with a savior complex, most likely as a way to control him from deviating from the path Wile wanted. Wouldn't do to have your world saving solution to the problem you created go awol, now would it? And I fully believe that he has at least a form of the Maverick virus.
Not the same kind we're used to seeing, tho. I'd argue it's within the same kind of Maverick virus we see within Copy X. Rather than a hatred aimed at humanity, it's a hatred aimed at other Reploids. I mean, the Maverick viruses we saw in X 1-8 were fully aimed at hating humanity. All reploid casualties were unintentional for the most part. But... we see a Copy X that is on a witch hunt against a vast majority of reploids just because he wants what he feels is best for humanity in Zero 1. If Wile is the progenitor of a Maverick virus that does something similar to that as a means of controlling his weapon, it'd make sense that something like that is still floating around.
"But he's called the God of Destruction!" I hear you say. "He's the devil reploid!" Ah but dear reader, are these titles Omega claims himself, or are they given to him by others? It wouldn't suprise me if people called him that after the destruction the Elf Wars caused. I mean, what else would you call something that did that much damage? Regardless of whether it was on the orders of someone else or not. Once he was put in the Omega Armor (or whatever that thing is called), he lost any and all agency. He's literally just a tool for Wile at that point. I just... I don't know. I don't think he hates humans as much as most fics portray him as doing so. Wile 100% hates all that is left of humanity because his own sh*tty actions had some sh*tty consequences, but I don't know how much I would put that onto Omega.
I mean, getting sent to space for 100 years probably wasn't fun; but if he had time to process it, would he understand and just view it as children rebelling against what is best for them? He would still view Wile's methods as what is best for humanity because, again, a little bit of brainwashing savior complex is still there, even if he is unaware of Wile's motives doing a complete 180.
Idk, I am unhinged and have too many thoughts. Hopefully I made it clear enough, but if you were interested enough to read and have questions I'll try to elaborate

my two cents on ofmd season 2 finale
i really liked the season up until then (the first 3 episodes alone rewired my brains) but the last 10 minutes oh boy.. maybe it just needs to grow on me like the good omens one but idk if it will
1 Izzy's death was awful, not because he died (not gonna be here debating whether or not he "deserved" it) but like many said, because his death was just to assolve Ed of his crimes. it was just so that he could run off and not be Blackbeard freely now that nothing tied him to piracy. he died in Ed arms with the whole crew, the crew that loved him, the crew he saved more than once, the crew that put him back on his foot feet staring at him from afar? it felt like a death season 1 izzy would have fit. but this season 2 izzy was way too complex for this.
2 why they abandoned their family exactly?? like maybe it upset me even more than izzy but them running away like this?? yeah i know ed talks about this inn more than once but isn't this what we've seen Anne and Mary do? isn't this just another "let's run away to china"? maybe it's just me but it didn't feel like an happy ending. they both showed they didn't really care about the crew and i was always deeply sad by it. but Ed seemed to make progress in seeing these people as, well, people.. and Stede proved he cared and he proved to be a competent captain!! but when the narrative asks for it he seems to forget them completely... i'm going to say it. it seems like just another whim.. it seems like Stede threw away his newfound family who proved to love and respect him for Ed. isn't this just what Izzy did? keep Blackbeard happy and satisfied? just that now it's Stede's job to keep Ed happy and satisfied?
3 and this is a minor thing but Lucius and Pete deserved a much bigger wedding they could have had it in the Calipso episode and nothing would have changed but that's not the point I wanted to make. TELL ME WHY STEDE DIDN'T CELEBRATE THEIR WEDDING?? it could have at least been his last act as captain, maybe that's where he realize he only want a quiet romantic life with Ed or something idk
Conclusions:
Have Izzy die and Stede and Ed take care of what he cared the most: THE CREW. Have Izzy die and Stede and Ed be two affectionate fathers to their found children. Have Stede be the responsible and stern one having him learned discipline, and Ed be the aoft and indulgent one having now learned compassion.
OR
Have Izzy live and him and have him realize he cares about the crew much more than he cares about Ed. Ed ran away with Stede but they left the crew in good hands. Ed and Izzy part ways and it feels right. they both realize there's something else keeping them afloat now, something healthier for the both of them. they are both doing what they love.
Izzy dying AND Stede and Ed running away left me with quite the bitter flavor after the episode..
THAT SAID the show is still a wonderful celebration of queer love and i am so grateful we have it there's no show really quite like it. maybe with a couple more episodes it would have been better, maybe it'll all be clearer with next season. i will forever be grateful to the writers and actors for giving a show like this

♡ Jaskier rant/vent ♡
Hiya, here is a long ass rant/vent about my Netflix Witcher frustrations with how the show-runners are treating Jaskier's character. Because even though I love the books and games, I couldn't give a rat's ass about the changes Lauren made to the witcher plot. Because if it were to be adapted into a show following the source material word for word, page for page, it wouldn't be worth watching because I already know the damn story. It's refreshing to see these changes, new ideas etc. But ofc, I do still have a bone to pick with them.
Tumblr media
The venting part:
Ok, so you know how in my bio it says that this is a Jaskier centric blog and that Jaskier deserves to be loved? Yeah, that's because I'm salty AF, the saltiest motherfucker on Earth right now. Because the way Netflix or...mostly Lauren treat Jaskier as a character on this show is atrocious! A beloved fan favorite they intend to milk but know not how, using him instead as nothing other than comedic relief and the occasional tool to move the plot in a certain direction.
They're stingy with his character development, with his screen time, with complexity. When we see him in pain it is later dismissed, as if it never happened. Where are his bruises and burns from Rience's torture? He was bleeding from his mouth, he had probably taken a few punches to his face. And Rience held his flame to Jaskier's fingers for at least five seconds, the heat of which compares to a lit match, nobody could walk away from something like that without second degree burns that would take many weeks to heal. And in Jaskier's case? Walking around with an exposed wound like that, touching things all the time, crawling across a dirty floor under the table when the witchers were fighting Voleth Mier? He realistically should have had a serious infection by now.
Also, tell me I am not the only one who noticed this, and I ask myself this quite often: Why OH WHY does it seem like the ONLY people who enjoy Jaskier's company, his presence, him in general, are the audiences he performs for and the elves? Everybody else seems to either shit on him the moment they see him or keep him around because he's loyal and amusing.
Idk about you, but I don't take kindly to the fact that the only character to treat Jaskier with respect and dignity in season 2 was Yennefer. Although THANK FUCK for Yennefer, I fucking LOVE her so much! But yeah.....
Like sure thing, Geralt evidently trusts Jaskier a lot, he is obviously fond of him, but to be honest I haven't seen enough of that fondness on screen to get the impression that their friendship is just like their bromance in the books. In season 1 they only show us scenes of Geralt barely putting up with Jaskier, ignoring him, insulting his singing (which is basically Jaskier's core, his life, his everything, it's what he lives and breathes for), barely admitting to their friendship out loud and then blaming Jaskier for everything that went wrong in his life! Like dude, I know Jaskier isn't exactly a pure and innocent cinnamon roll, I'm aware that he is a slutty little trouble magnet who can sometimes talk too much, but he is also a good friend! Even with whatever little screen time he gets, he is every inch the good friend that Dandelion is in the books!
In season 1 it's very clear that he cares, he asked Geralt if he's ok, he said "Talk to me", he tried to help Geralt deal with Borch's fake death, he offered Geralt an opportunity to go on a vacation, because he gives a fucking damn about him. Even in Cintra, when he asked Geralt for a favor, aka guard him, he made a comment about rubbing chamomile on his body, aka most likely massaging Geralt's sore arse muscles after a hunt.
But Geralt? Just the bare fucking minimum, saving Jaskier's life a few times, a few fond smiles here and there, otherwise looking rather uninterested in Jaskier's life. A brick wall that barely says anything nice to him. Or well, looks like talking to him in general is a chore.
And season 2? Whoooo boy! Jaskier still cares! Though he has to pry basic human decency out of Geralt in that jail cell at Oxenfurt:
- "We don't have time, we need to go"
- "Are you sure? Because the last time we saw eachother, you basically told me to fuck off, remember? And you left me on a mountain!"
- "Jaskier.."
- "Don't fucking Jaskier me, I'm talking to you, this is how this works!"
Jaskier still makes do with Geralt's pathetic arse "I need your help" and leaves EVERYTHING in his life behind to be there for Geralt. He left his Sandpiper smuggling business, he didn't even get to pack a bag, trailing after Geralt like a loyal dog, still wearing the shirt he was tortured in, with his dried blood on it, because Geralt needed his friend.
Thankfully Geralt seems to be doing better by Jaskier in the second season, but not nearly enough to be enough! I mean, Geralt came for Jaskier only when he needed something from him, didn't apologize to him until Jaskier hinted at the problem (Via discussing Yennefer's betrayal, she's been pushed into a corner, she's desperate, it's why people do stupid things and SAY stupid things). And Geralt's apology was shit, because he didn't offer it until Jaskier had accidentally guilt tripped him into it. And Jaskier? Yeah, no, he might have forgiven his friend for the Mountain, but he is still human, he's still got feelings and knew he deserved an apology. However, right there and then it clearly wasn't the right time, whatnot with Geralt's apology being too simple and nonchalant, not nearly serious and earnest enough to undo the hurt that had given birth to Burn Butcher Burn. Not to mention the dwarves being within earshot and the dangerous mission ahead. Which is why I understand why Jaskier brushed off Geralt's pathetic attempt at making amends with a joke.
When I was watching the Rare Species episode of season 1, the expression on Jaskier's face after getting shouted at by his best friend honestly broke my fucking heart. So when season 2 aired, I started binging it with high hopes of getting to see Geralt apologizing, them becoming friends again, Geralt being a better friend to Jaskier while also being badass as shit with his child surprise, battling monsters etc. But I did not expect it to fall so flat and I did not expect for LITERALLY EVERYONE to treat Jaskier like absolute dog shit. INCLUDING THE SHOW RUNNERS!
Geralt was basically using Jaskier for his loyalty, the dwarves found Jaskier's presence as the most annoying thing ever, Ciri literally fucking ignored him in all of their scenes together, the show-runners fucking forgot that Jaskier was tortured and filmed every scene with Joey in it as if Rience never happened, then for some dumb reason Lambert fucking had to be more of a prick than necessary, effectively alienating Jaskier with one single word, when that man had done nothing to deserve it!
FUCK!!!

Hey, hi, hello! I’m the anon that asked about the necklace thing the other day, and I was thinking about Nestas reaction too- (I think I’ve made it obvious that I ship Gwynriel-) but I think Nesta is going to make a bigger deal about the necklace situation than anyone else!
I can also see it be like a running joke for Nesta and Gwynriel if they end up together. For Solstice/anniversary gifts 100 years later, Nesta asking Az in front of the entire Inner Circle and all of their kids “Are you sure you didn’t give those earrings to Feyre first?” 💀💀
Also, just to add because it seems like anytime I mention I ship Gwynriel and hope to see them together in the next book- I want her to find out about the bond first and not say anything to Az until he has realized the bond isn’t a make it or break it thing- when we get Azriel’s book I want to see as detailed of a healing journey that we got for Feyre and Nesta. I would hate to see them end up together and it just be sunshine and roses and him handed a mating bond and just latching onto it. If SJM doesn’t give us Gwyn finding out first and hiding it from Az, him finding out she hid it and being upset until it’s pointed out why she hid it, and we don’t get to see the ups and downs, I will need you to write something similar (doesn’t have to be Gwyn- honestly an x reader fic would be perfect because then I can imagine it as myself-) because out of all the ACOTAR writers, you’re one of the top three that make it feel authentic? Idk dude, you’re just phenomenal at world building and adding in your own details.
Also, sorry for this being so long and kinda all over the place- I’m lightly toasted 🤣🫶🏻
I absolutely LOVE the idea of Nesta holding it over their heads for years to come 🤣🤣Nesta supports her girl and she’s not letting Az forget it 💅🏻
And I totallyyyy agree, both Az and Gwyn have a hell of a lot of healing to do. I really hope that that’s something that gets the respect and attention it deserves and isn’t just turned into a “love/mating bond came along and saved the day” type situation. Azriel and Gwyn are two complex characters who could have something very beautiful, but that would start with themselves respectively!
And that’s so sweet, thank you for loving my writing 🥹🫶🏻I’d love to give Az the healing he deserves tbh 💕
Enjoy being lightly toasted like a lil marshmallow 💕💅🏻

You’ll Never Be President
I don’t know if I’ve ever talked about this before but the ‘you’ll never be president’ line from Wilbur to Tommy is REALLY interesting to me because Tommy.. doesn’t want to be that.
While Tommy isn’t a follower - he goes against what people tell him very frequently to do what he thinks is right, or even just to do what he finds more fun - he’s not a leader either.
This isn’t to discredit that he CAN be (the stream before Doomsday when he rallied everyone to fight for L’Manberg is one example of this), but it’s definitely not a goal of his? And I think he finds it more limiting than anything (see: Wilbur making him president and him giving it to Tubbo because he can’t lead a country when he cares more about the discs, which was really mature of him imo but that’s an essay for another day). Tommy can’t mess around and have fun if he’s a president, and that’s something he values a lot.
We know Tommy was happiest in the Early Days of L’Manberg. As Wilbur’s Right-Hand-Man. And this is what I think is the most Tommy he’s ever been. Tommy’s not a follower but he’s a people person and he likes to be needed.
The title ‘Right-Hand-Man’ isn’t official, so it’s loose enough that Tommy has breathing room to do his Own Shit. But I think for Tommy it becomes synonymous with Vice President because Wilbur doesn’t ask him to devote his entire life to the country, but just.. to help Wil.
And that’s something Tommy is incredibly good at. Because he understands Wilbur a lot, maybe more than either of them realise. In Pogtopia, he managed to get Wil not to press the button by reminding him that if he did it, Tommy and Quackity would die too. In the presidential debates during the election arc, Tommy supported Wil.
Tommy functions best in a supporting role where there’s not too much pressure on him but he still feels like he has a purpose (side note: it’s why I love Protege AUs - he’s so desperate for a purpose at that point that he’ll take the supporting role at Dream’s side despite all the pressure, but I digress) it’s a really fine line because sometimes he ends up putting too much pressure on himself (like in the whole of Pogtopia, where Tommy’s role stopped being supporting Wilbur, and became saving him)
Anyways, the ‘You’ll never be president’ is really interesting. Because it shows Wilbur EXPECTS that of Tommy. He expects Tommy to just be in it for the power. And Tommy isn’t. Tommy’s there for Wilbur. Because he’s a character who loves before anything else and he’s never been interested in power or anything other than fun, safety and attachment.
Idk if this makes sense. I really relate to Tommy and his values and his relationship with Wil is beautiful and complex and tragic.

just a quick huntlow drabble on what I think would be their flaws after they begin dating. I feel like Hunter would be overprotective despite knowing that his captain is more than capable of taking care of herself. and at the same time, I feel like Willow would be a little too overbearing, constantly making sure he's okay despite knowing he can take care of himself. idk am I rambling? just read it XD
ooo
After a hellish battle with Belos, the gang had limped their way back towards Lilith's infirmary. Viney and Emira healed the injured, and Hunter and Willow found themselves in a hushed argument. Luz sat nearby as Emira patched her up, trying her best not to eavesdrop on the couple.
"For the last time Hunter, I'm fine!"
Willow was stubbornly sitting on the edge of one of the beds, fighting Hunter's attempt to get her to lie down. Hunter was standing next to her, a scowl on his face. His expression was a mix of anger, exasperation, and concern. When he spoke, his voice was teetering dangerously between sounding calm and angry.
He balled up his fist. "You fell over ten thousand feet, Willow!" he barked. "You're lucky Flapjack and I caught you before you hit the water."
"Well I had to do something," hissed Willow. "Nobody else was having any luck defeating that monster. I did what I had to do!"
"You didn't have to do anything," countered Hunter, turning his body to face her.
From her position, Luz didn't have a clear view of either but she could see the stiffness in Hunter's shoulder, while also catching the defiant look in Willow's eye. Luz averted her own as their whispers got slightly louder and more harsh.
The door opened, and Amity came through, looking thoroughly exhausted. She glanced at Hunter and Willow who did not stop their fight, and sat next to Luz, shifting the bandages she had on her arm.
"Are they alright?" Amity asked quietly, and Luz shook her head, casting her gaze back onto the couple. Amity sighed. "They're still fighting? Gosh, I—"
"What are you talking about?!" Hunter suddenly shouted, his voice dripping with fury.
"Should we intervene?" Luz wondered out loud, clearly concerned.
Amity shook her head. "No. They need to be able to handle their fights as a couple."
Willow glared at him. "I'm talking about this bubble you seem to have placed around me!" she growled, not as loud, but just as angrily. "I'm not a porcelain doll Hunter! I'm not going to break."
"I've seen you break, Willow, and I'm not going to let it happen again!"
"Well if it does you can't stop it. Titan, Hunter, this is a war we're going into. You can't hover around me every step. I've barely been able to lift a finger since we started dating. I can handle myself fine, so just stop it!"
"Hover around you? Say's the person who won't let me out of her sight!"
"That is completely different, and you know it. I do that for reassurance—"
"And you don't think that's why I'm so concerned for your safety?!"
Willow scowled. "This isn't about your reassurance Hunter," she sneered. "You're being over-protective of my well-being, and it was sweet at first, but I'm not a helpless little child. For years everyone viewed me as weak! I know how to take care of myself! You need to see past your hero-complex and just let me do what I need to do!"
"You think I have a hero complex?" Hunter sounded dangerously calm when he spoke those words, and Luz felt a little chill run down her spine. For a second, she saw the intimidating Golden Guard and not her friend, but Willow seemed unaffected.
"You'd risk the world to save a friend," she said, her eyes dark and cold. "You do everything you can to make sure that you save everyone you care about, and that's not the smart thing to do during times like these. You can't be selfish in what you do; you have to let whatever happens happen and move on. You can't keep wasting your time—!"
The whole room jumped as Hunter's fist collided with the bed frame.
"I care Willow," he said, his voice low. "I'm not cold like you."
Luz cursed under her breath at that comment. She knew better than anyone how much Willow hated being referred to as cold.
If Willow was angry before, she was livid now. Her glare was steely, and she tensed her entire body, poised for attack.
"You think I'm cold?" she asked.
"You can be."
There was another tense silence before Willow slipped off the bed and pushed past Hunter, wobbling slightly as she righted herself.
"Think twice before protecting me again… I'll stab you myself!" she announced as she walked towards the door.
"I will if you can stop checking up on me!" Hunter called after her as the door slammed shut.
There was a pause as Hunter groaned angrily, glancing at Luz and Amity. Luz didn't bother averting her gaze. Hunter wasn't stupid; he knew they were listening.
"Don't bother," he growled as Luz opened her mouth to speak.
She watched him walk out, the door closing silently this time, before glancing warily at Amity.
ooo
It was late.
Willow and Hunter had managed to spend the rest of the day avoiding each other, both in a foul mood with anyone who dared speak to them.
It was around two in the morning, and Willow was curled up on the bed in her makeshift room, trembling from the nightmare she had just had. All of these recent carnage from battles with the Emperor had manifested themselves into her subconscious, and they plagued her during the night.
The small night light was doing nothing to ease her mind and even though there was heating through the house, she felt cold. She closed her eyes, and tried to keep her breathing steady as the last dregs of her mind-numbing nightmare played out. leaving her with heart-clenching fear and in desperate need for comfort.
She couldn't sleep now; even as her breathing evened out she could still see the images that plagued her dreams that night. A flash of red crossed her vision. She shook back tears, and flicked the main light on in the room.
It did nothing to ease her mind; she needed Hunter.
Removing the blanket tangled around her legs she slipped off of her bed and made her way slowly to the door. The automatic light glyphs in the hallway flickered on as her door opened and she wrapped her arms around her body as she walked to Hunter's bedroom door. Voices and screams seemed to follow her as she stood outside his door, her hand on the door handle.
She steeled herself and opened the door, cringing as it creaked slightly. She could see the dim glow in the corner of Hunter's room. He was asleep on his side, blanket covering him from the waist down, and one arm over his eyes. His window was open, and the wind hit his bare chest. Seeing him lying there, at peace, made her heart clench tightly and she found herself moving forward on her own accord until she was standing next to the bed.
The voices wouldn't leave her alone, and her body seemed to ache for his touch. She didn't want to wake him; she knew that if he hadn't woken from a bad dream before now that he would sleep through until dawn. It was rare for him to get more than three hours continuous rest a night and she wouldn't deprive him. But they were near another battle with Belos, and Willow needed all the rest she could get. There was only one way she would be able to get back to sleep tonight.
Going slowly, she pulled back the blanket from the bed and eased herself onto the mattress. She slid her legs under the comforting material and curled herself as close to the edge of the bed she could get, pulling the sheet over her shoulders. It was awkward to say the least, considering the massive argument they had had earlier, but despite that she could feel herself relaxing by just being near him.
Willow jolted as something skimmed her hip, and quickly registered it as Hunter's hand. She let out a shaky breath as it curled protectively around her waist. He pulled her closer, shifting so his body was flush against hers. He tangled their legs together, his arm tightening around her waist as he nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck.
"Hey," he mumbled sleepily, the fingers on her waist tickling her skin lightly.
"Hey," she replied softly.
Hunter hummed, pressing himself even closer to her trembling form. Willow felt like crying; not because of the nightmares, no. Because of Hunter and his damn ability to make her feel safe.
She took a deep breath to hold back the tears and moved one of hands to rest over him. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "I didn't mean to…"
"No." Hunter shook his head against her neck, his lips grazing the skin beneath her ear.
Willow closed her eyes as a pleasant shiver ran down her spine. She knew Hunter had felt it because he chuckled slightly and pressed a kiss against the same spot.
"No apologies," he continued. "That's in the past, we're not thinking about it anymore."
He confused her sometimes. She could never understand how despite all his past troubles, he could be so forgiving.
"Why?" she asked, turning around to search for his eyes in the dark.
He pecked her lips. "Because I love you."
"I love you too."
Hunter shifted himself onto his back, smiling. She laid her head against his chest, and Hunter wrapped a comforting arm around her shoulders. She smiled, and closed her eyes, allowing herself to fall into a deep, uninterrupted slumber.

you know i have too many thoughts but i can't seem to place them well enough to make a single post.
like i'm just thinking about (multi fandom thoughts god save me):
-dustin and steve's friendship and how genuine it is. same with robin and steve. idk i think steve is just a good guy when around good people.
-thinking about how dustin was wearing rings in a stranger things teaser im literally going to break down
-thinking about how tyler's singing voice changes through each album. like idk how to explain it other than that. it's just good
-thinking about how draco malfoy deserved more than what he got. he deserved a better family. a chance at being an actual kid rather than caring about his family's image
-thinking about spencer reid. just spencer reid. loml
-there's so many songs i'd be so excited to hear on the clancy world tour. so many songs i'd break down to. so many songs that if they skip it i'd actually be heartbroken.
-thinking about how penelope garcia held that fucking team together shut up. she was the glue that held the bau together argue with the wall.
-still thinking about how fucking broken tyler looked through the livestream experience. how clancy was a puppet for the bishops through SAI. imagine how horrifyingly humiliating that would be. a man who tried so hard to fight something like that just to be the poster boy for it.
-still wondering what jenna and debby's roles are. like sure that's not a big thing but i care about it i wanna know where they are in the lore. like even if it's not meant to be something big id like to know
-i think i ended up liking draco malfoy as much as i do is because looking past the little boy who's a bully, look at his family bro. he had no choice in what he could be. his character is more complex than initially thought
-harry potter, as much as he deserved to be, was so whiny some times 💀. ron is just whiny in the later books. like come on you think this kid who's gone through hell wants to keep going through hell for some money?? ronald come on calm your tits and talk to him. just that whole fight in goblet of fire could've been avoided if he just talked to his friend. like you fucking think he wanted that ronald?? calm down.
-there's a few characters that if they die in s5 of stranger things im literally going to break down. specifically dustin, steve, and robin. if they die--dude like absolutely not
-peter parker you deserve the entire world you deserve everything. all the peter parker's in the marvel cinematic universe and marvel comic universe. literally i--UGH
-there's a few twenty one pilots songs that while i listen to them i specifically remember the music video and i think that's really funny. to note, some of them are stressed out, lane boy, somewhat fairly local, house of gold, guns for hands, i just remember the livestream ones for shy away and choker, there's so many but like--there's parts that remind me of the mv
-i don't think i ever hated SAI i just distanced from twenty one pilots in 2021 (which honestly was the worst time for me to do so but here we are) and thinking i disliked SAI was better than turning away from the band that probably saved my life from further depression and instead turning to dumbass minecraft youtubers that ended up just being awful awful people. i hate that. i hate that i was so awestruck by these mcyts that i didn't think about how bad they could've been. SAI is a good album i just never got into it like i am now and that makes me feel so sad. i don't want to be one of those "oh you just came back because the lore said this album was...blah blah blah" like okay thanks for the words and shit i don't really care let me LIVE
.....
anyway those are some various thoughts. idk what else to put anymore so enjoy this thought dump i guess 🤷
this is what i mean by multifandom i like too many things 💀

finally watched dune (2021). assorted thoughts
i really enjoyed this movie but i'm having serious trouble explaining why. i didn't get the same type of enjoyment out of it that i'm typically looking for in a big-budget sff movie. i wasn't worried about the characters' fate at literally any point. i didn't find it "exciting," i didn't "relate" to anyone, and i wasn't "emotionally invested" in the character relationships. i wasn't even intellectually invested in the adaptation project from a critical perspective. i was drawn in by... something else?
felt like timothée chalamet phoned in all his lines. it was like he was doing a cold read of the script over a zoom call and the vibes were just absolutely flatlining. but i don't actually think that was his fault? i think that was an accurate depiction of the character as given to him?
as far as i can recall this is the first time that a sci fi movie actually gave me a gut-swoop feeling via its portrayal of LARGE SCALE. every other sf movie tries soooo haaaard to get me to care about Identical Giant Spaceship #28489211 Did I Mention It's Big, but this is the first time i actually had a "oh that's BIG" feeling
pretty sure that effect was almost all shot composition. lots of extreme wide shots in which architectural features / space objects formed austere, abstracted shapes
i really liked every shot EXCEPT, ironically enough, the ones that featured dunes (lowercase).
me pointing at a generic sand dune: i've had enough of this guy
related to the sand imagery. i am Aware that dune enacts a complex critique of imperialism over the course of several novels and that the Point is to make you uncomfortable at first. i am still uncomfortable. this is fine. this is the point. but i find the move of "immerse you in white saviorism for a whole novel, then subvert it" a lot easier to handle in book form? the cinematic gaze is very different from the novelistic gaze. it does Things to the portrayal of otherwise very similar plot events. still deciding if i like that
then again it's been so many years since i read the novel... idk
i did feel like maybe i should've seen this on a big screen. and i will probably attempt to see the sequel in theaters? something i have not done of my own volition in many years, even before the pandemic?
whatshername who played jessica was an incredible actor. profoundly weird in exactly the correct way
i was surprised by how little emphasis they gave to the litany; it was present just enough but they didn't Make A Scene of it. i'm guessing that's being saved for the sequel
okay now that i've thought about it more: i think i enjoyed this movie the same way i might appreciate an art film.
so the thing about arthouse films is many of them prioritize reflective, reflexive commentary, often in a brechtian or approximately brechtian mode. often this promotes certain kinds of immersion (an ill-defined term! which we use a lot regardless!), especially the intellectual and aesthetic, at the cost of other kinds of immersion.
there's a certain liveliness of character that can be found in the best "commercial" artworks — the sort of thing that makes people say the characters "jumped off the page". that particular brand of liveliness is much rarer in "literary"/arthouse texts because the particular flavor of reflective mode that's fashionable right now puts up a barrier between that "liveliness" and the reader/viewer/etc.
i don't mean that these texts can't directly engage audience emotion or deliver a gutpunch or whatever -- i'm trying to get at the fact that they exhibit a deep distrust of charm. charm as an affect is contradictory to brechtian detachment. that's not particular to 21st century literary fiction or arthouse film, that's a cultural movement that's been happening in fits and starts in america and britain for a while now?
(this is reminding me i still need to read erin horáková's dissertation)
(damn that's reminding me i need to find her dissertation)
(i could always. ask. but that seems. embarrassing)
anyways these aren't inherent qualities of genre. they're not foundational.
you see plenty of texts that employ "commercial" modes of audience engagement that are later recuperated into the literary canon and treated as literary fiction, even if they weren't originally marketed as such. to kill a mockingbird is a decent example of this
ANYWAYS i'm almost sure i enjoyed dune (2021) as an arthouse film? i found myself wishing i could turn down the character voices into a low murmur so that i could just be whisked through the interplay of light and shadow without being bothered with "plot"
despite my apparent lack of investment in the characters, i thought duncan's death was a great example of a classic trope done right? i just found the whole scene incredibly satisfying, narratively? idk.
i got seriously tired of seeing dreamy wordless visions of zendaya's face tho. so you paid for zendaya to be in this movie. WE GET IT.

Time to fangirl about Helluva Boss: S1 E5
OMG, THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHAPTERS!
But first, isn't the white spot on Blitz's face supposed to be a burn scar? Then why does it look like he has vitiligo? Unless they're all burn scars in which case... ouch.
Tumblr media
And if the white spots are supposed to be scars, like the one across the right eye of Millie's sister:
Tumblr media
What are the two circles on each of Millie's arms? And his father's looks more like a tattoo. And her mom? She has a lot on her tail (which can be understandable) but the ones on her face? Look like blush.
Tumblr media
And these other demons. It even looks like she has them under her eyes.
Tumblr media
And, okey, let's say they're all scars. Then...
Tumblr media
His are supposed to be freckles. I thought for a moment maybe Moxxie is albino, so instead of having black freckles (like Millie's mole under her eye) his are white. But his eyebrows are black so it tears my theory. So, maybe, freckles, moles AND scars are white OR the scars specifically are a less saturated white (thou I would have to know about color theory to really dive in but color theory doesn't want to know me). I'm not blaming the team for not thinking about it (because I've tried writing my own storys and there are things that you just don't think are important for the plot or for a character or for the story in general) but either way it's confusing.
Anyway, in this chapter we're presented to Striker: since the black shadow in his eyes and his golden canine to his rattling tail, we know he's gonna make an impact.
Tumblr media
And he kinda did. He's the one who describes us how society views and treats imps in Hell, and by the look in Blitz's face, those words are something he didn't wanted to think about or they were a trigger. I'm going ith the second option.
Tumblr media
Which makes this scene more important (for Blitz) because his work is being recognized by someone else, someone of his own (an imp) but strange to him. Thinking a little deeper, maybe Striker knew who Blitz was because he was investigating Stolas and the imp who sleeps with him. Eaither way, his reputation precedes him.
Tumblr media
From here the animation changes FOR GOOD:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I LOVE all these sequence. Everything that happened in this room: LITERAL GOLD.
One of the moments that hapened in the room was Strike offering Blitz to work with him (which would make them a very unstoppable duo, but do their personalities match?)
Tumblr media
And Blitz lies and says he will join him 'cause he was waiting for Moxxie (or someone, idk) to appear. But why not? Why not accept the offer to take down the very people who look down on his kind? What does he wants? Recognition? But for all the imps? Or for him alone? Is he trying to prove something? To who?
NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT MILLIE:
I remember we were all impressed by Millie's habilities and violent side, but when this chapter came out, people in the comments were complaining about her not being able to take a hit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know that for a character to be interesting and complex, they need to have flaws; but I also know where people are coming from. I mean, we have a very talented assasin who goes straight to killer-mode when her husban is in danger-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-who gets taken down only when said husband needs to "save the day". We know she has a high pain tolerance when she says she had worse at the flowers tufts at her brother' wedding when she caught the bouquet "and it was fucking worth it", so this flaw for her... makes sense but it also doesn't. Like, she's too sweet and friendly to be a demon, but she's a very talented killer to be so sweet and friendly. We're talking about personality and attitude. Now you're telling me she''s strong but also weak?
A little EXTRA:
She sleeps with knives above her head and on her nightstand. I'm guessing Moxxie has a gun under the bed, if they're worried about being attacked:
Tumblr media
Another EXTRA:
"Stolas' Lament" playing fast on the background (sorry, I can't unheard it now):

You’re writing is sooooo good!! Like, I’ve read my fair share of literature, fanfics and books alike (English major life ayyy lmao), and I’m being 100% genuine when I say that yours is some of the best I’ve ever seen!
And the newest Diasomnia fic blew me out of the water! Everyone’s characterization (and all the other boys in the other dorms as well) was completely amazing and spot on. I have to specifically praise you on Sebek’s part. As you can tell by my pfp he’s my favorite boy lmao, and the way you wrote him was wonderful and such a breath of fresh air! He’s one of the boys that tends to get mischaracterized a by a lot of of people, and while I understand that he’s definitely not the most likable of the cast, it’s sooooo nice for someone to completely understand how he is.
And the way you have him balance his romantic relationship and his knightly duties? Mwah amazing. The line “While I am fae, I’m also just a man”? I SWOONED, IM ON LOVE YOUR HONOR.
Anyways, I’ll cut my little rambling here haha. Just as some final thought, you’re writing is soooo good and I can’t wait to read what else you have in store in the future! (And if you don’t mind be tagged as well hehe). Have a wonderful day~!
I’m sobbing thank you this is such high praise.
Sebek was actually the first one I wrote after doing the Savannahclaw ones because I feel the same way! I understand why people wanna meme on his obsession with Malleus (and let’s be real he deserves it haha) but there is so much potential for really interesting depth with a character who is fantasy-bi-racial in what seems to be a highly hierarchical society.
Silver is human too, so obviously he would have baggage as well but he would be completely othered by default. Sebek has to grapple with being too inhuman for humanity’s comfort and too human for a fae. Where does he even fit in? We don’t even know how relatively common or uncommon half-fae children are as far as I’m aware. He is fighting for his life to keep Malleus safe and sound, imagine what would happen if something happened to Malleus?
“That’s what happens when a king trusts second-rate retainers such as he! General Lilia has become too soft on him.”
I feel like imagined words like that keep Sebek up at night.
No idea if that is every touched on (I don’t have a lot of Sebek cards as sad as that is so idk if there’s more stories for him)
He’s so obsessed with Malleus because his job as his knight is also heavily tied to his legitimacy as a person, especially as a fae! He calls people “human” to other himself, literally point out what they are in order to deflect from what he is not. I feel like him falling in love with a human would be complex for him because if they had children they would be even less fae than he is, and how scary is that! How would they even be treated?
Okay I’m gonna stop ranting but this sweet and insecure boy has sooooo much potential for depth and it really claws at your heart, you know?
But again thank you I am gonna save this ask to re-read any time I feel sad this is really so wonderful thank you thank you

10 Anti LO Asks
(Note: All of these asks are before episode 206 (Season 2 finale) so some may be dated.) 1. tbh rachel wouldnt need to add in random lines about how capitalism is bad and having internalized misogyny at age seven if she didnt claim to the high heavens that shes actually a feminist goddess telling the most progressive story ever. talk about creating your own problems.
2. Never thought I'd say it but Zues spitting facts fr
3. No but why is Zeus framed as in the wrong😭 Like I understand in myths he’s supposed to be an asshole and at first in LO I could understand why he was an asshole, but Zeus is literally in the right in punishing Persephone. Like I’m rooting for him over HxP at this point man
4. this isn't even just the fact hades is a manipulative slave owner with an oedipus complex but zeus also just looks more aesthetically pleasing?? like his colors are much nicer and he has drip and pretty hair?? also like he doesnt lie about who he is, he will happily admit hes a dick, but hes fair when he needs to be and can stand by for those he cares about (yes hera i mean you after your kronos nightmare!), meanwhile with hades its like rachel dont lie to me hes elon musk at BEST
5. Alright I got some concerns over the new chapter (not fp) -
The idea that Persephone is SO important and that her unfair punishment is basically f*cking over everybody because Zeus is being too stubborn to realize what a hard working angel she is... Doesn't sit right with me.
Idk how to phrase this to make it make sense but everyone is being passive aggressive (sort of understandably) towards Zeus because his decision to punish Persephone. Like that satyr is basicslly saying "if only Zeus would lighten up and let hades and persephone be married and cater to their every whim then people / the world would be happy"  - like the way the trial / punishment is written is that Persephone is the single most important character Ever whos life and choices affect everyone all the time and everyone is invested in hades and persephone being together because their lives basically depend on it - like hades is now supposedly messing up his own economy / citizens over not being able to see Persephone.
Also - I like that persephone seems to be standing up for herself finally, but it took 10 yrs to do it??
6. NGL I'm obsessed with that panel revealing Persephone's underworld citizenship went through bc 1) are we just supposed to ignore her immense privilege of getting a sped through process in a few DAYS, bc I won't! but 2) it feels like such an unintentional mockery of the actual immigration progress, where so many of us were/are trying to flee war, violence, and trying to find a better life, meanwhile SHE gets a sped through process so she can avoid the law/hook up with her boss. Love that, Rachel!
7. Also now that Cerberus is here I guess plot wise Persephone HAS to go see Hades despite the rules in place, she now has an excuse to go to the underworld and idk I read somewhere that some of the gods are in a sleep coma?
So heres a prediction - maybe kronos is up to something and zeus hasn't been affected yet because... Reasons? I bet its so that everyone is gone so oh no, whos going to save the Olympians from the dreaded kronos? Persephone of course! And zeus will finally have to admit how awesome she is and how great at everything she is and how wrong he was to punish her because only she, a fertility goddess, can save them and at the end everyone will be so mad if he doesn't forgive her because she saved the world to prove her worth that he'll have no choice but to lift the punishment and she and Hades can finally bang, I mean get together, and be married and everything goes back to normal and our protags get a happy ending and idk about everyone else - maybe Apollo is thrown into jail for rape and zeus is kept as king of the Olympians for a good show of faith but Hades and Persephone keep a close eye on him and basically control the strings so hes more like a puppet, and maybe hera and echo get together idk. Everyone else is secondary to the hades and persephone story so I don't know about them, cause despite it being called Lore Olympus only occasionally do we see storoes that pertain to outside of persephone and hades pov.
8. does that one anon think we critique  rachel/LO because she's a woman 😭 the majority of lo critics are women?? yeah her being a cis white woman does effect how we look at her work, the ideas she puts into it, and how others treat her (especially compared to actual marginalized female webtoon creators), because that does play a huge role in why LO is full of problematic things and rachel's coddling by her fans. if we were calling her a bunch of gendered terms that'd be one thing, but we're not.
9. sorry but anon going "youre being WOKE" is such a giveaway theyre assholes w conservative opinions but dont want to admit it. like these are LO fans?? people who bemoan "woke" critics, who tend to be in the oppressed groups rachel is speaking over while claiming she's the actual progressive feminist?? like you guys cant have it both ways, if you want to claim LO is some feminist masterpiece then you cant shut down ppl who point out it consistently fails to meet up to even 1 progressive ideal 🤧
-----SA Discussion Below-----
10. FP SPOILERS///Sooo um Rachel made an episode with literal sex assault and wrote it off as a joke? Wow that's some big pro-feminism shit for you. It's not just stupid, it's disgusting and dangerous, bc what the hell are you implying as a writer when you write a scene where one character sexually assaults another for LAUGHS???? ARE YOU SERIOUS RACHEL???? I-I can't I really can't, somehow she makes literally everything 10x times worse with each new episode

ooh! 1, 3, 14, 22, 25!
thanks for specifying cql in your other ask!
the character everyone gets wrong
mostly wwx but like i said in my other ask, lwj and nhs as well. also jc. theyre always depicted as superficial stereotypes and robbed of any complexity that makes them interesting.
3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
man i dont even know at this point, i've seen so many garbage takes on here. what about that one time someone got so mad in my inbox because cql was rumoured to have been a love story between wq and wwx at first and they 'changed it because of fans threatening the production crew' and they called the script writers and producers etc homophobes for daring to alter the source material to be a hetero relationship. all that when the end result is still deeply homosexual even with censorship.
or all the thinkpieces people have written about how jiang cheng is actually a good guy and he couldve been the one to save the wens if only wen qing had been gracious enough to marry him. or whatever.
14. that one thing you see in fics all the time
just one thing? nah
'oh my god lan zhan warn me before you do something so romantic!! ~~~'
when wwx's waist is described to be so tiny that lwj's hands can wrap all the way around it :/
i havent actually read fic in a while so this is more difficult than i thought
wwx having straight hair in his original body but wavy/curly hair as mxy for some reason? this isn't bad but it's something i've come across multiple times and i always wonder why because i don't remember this being a thing in the novel specifically
lqr being homophobic for some reason. let the man live. he's traditional but there's no indication that he's homophobic?
fic authors seem to have no fashion sense whatsoever
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
the fact that lan wangji would absolutely be friends with all the lesbians and especially mianmian. WHERE is all the lwj + mianmian friendship content (idk. all of my favourite things are pretty popular as well)
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
the complaints about cql being censored and 'not actually gay' or 'not gay enough'. like yeah censorship is bad, we all know this, and if given a choice i would also have preferred a textually explicit romance, but the people that complain about this really lack critical thinking. wwx and lwj don't need to make out or have sex in the woods without lube for them to be a legitimate couple lmao. cql IS a romance and it's made obvious by the symbolism, the music, and the script.
