There’s this stereotype that shiny pokemon are fussy and pampered and generally weaker bc they’re rather babied and adored. And while I understand where that assumption comes from (I’ve seen how some of you guys treat your shinies don’t even lie). I feel like people forget why most shinies are so incredibly rare.

Like, depending on their coloration it wildly decreases their survival rate in the wild. There’s gonna be a difference in living as a blue Vaporeon or a bright pink one, y’know? Makes them struggle to blend in with their environments which, depending on if they’re carnivorous, can make hunting harder, sometimes the pokemon gets rejected from their packs/herds/flocks, they can struggle to get a mate, and makes them an easy target for predators.

So like when you see a shiny in the wild you gotta just stand back and bask in the rarity of it not just for being rare genetically, but the sheer amount of willpower and strength (or luck) that its had to make it this far. That’s pretty badass.

#this isn’t like a universal experience for wild shinies though. we all know some of them hardly sport a difference #every day i’m afraid i’ve run into a shiny somewhere and just let it get away bc it was only a slight tone change lmao #but the first shiny i ever ran into in the wild was a shiny Drowsee and let me say #that thing was FIERCE #never met an aggressive Drowsee before kinda scared me tbh #ended up trading him away but he was a toughy #its not easy being pink #i will say though. breeder sourced shinies are pretty pampered #isn’t that a funny dichotomy though? #in the wild life can be so hard for them. but to us humans we love and adore their differences #pokeblogging #pkmn irl #pkmn posting #pokemon blogging #pokemon irl #unreality

Okay. I've gotta say it. I actually believe that like 90% of shiny Pokemon don't exist. at all. Like sure Charizard and stuff like that yeah whatever but I see so many shiny Pokemon posts where there's not even a shiny Pokemon. I don't get it. People would always call my friend's Pokemon shinies, but they're just normal.

How did you catch your shiny Magikarp? I can't find a shiny no matter what I do XD

Well, you asked the wrong person for advice XD

First of all, he is the only shiny I ever caught and, technically, he is the one who found me in the first place;

So, imagine a beautiful day, it has just rained and the sun is shining bright on the water drops resting on the vivid green leaves. You are a young girl, full of life and energy, eager to go out and train your Pokemon. Imagine walking along a crystalline sea with your Froslass trailing behind you. You are eating a sandwich as she frolics around, chasing your purrloin as the feline jumps around, like she is dancing.

Imagine eating a donut your mom bought for you. It's split in half with buttercream in the middle. Strawberry flavored. You close your eyes as you relish the taste, and you are glad. You are glad to be alive, you are glad to have a good mom, you are glad to have your Pokemon with you, you are glad to be a trainer.

At that moment, you can feel nothing but pure joy for the simplest things.

Then imagine getting ABSULETLY slapped across the face by a golden blur. It's hard enough to knock you down and you panic because you feel wetness. You hurriedly raise your hand to check if it's blood, but thankfully it's just water.

You hear a commotion around you but you are too panicked to check. Your head swirls with questions as your worried Froslass helps you up. Did you get attacked by some evil team? A madman decided that you offended him? A Dragonite wanted your donut that is now on the dirt floor?

You look up to check on your growling purrloin as your Froslass keeps her hand carefully on your shoulder, holding her ice-covered hand on your cheek. And you see a fucking shiny Magikarp flopping around with your purrloin biting down on its tail. Angrily, you throw a Pokeball at its head and catch it almost instantly.

You are feeling VERY MIXED about your attacker but you decide to give him a chance to make it up to you.

It knows bounce AND hydro pump. Also, it's surprisingly apologetic and friendly.

You forgive him and buy him one of those water Pokemon backpacks so he can be safely out of its Pokeball everywhere <3
