*ೃ༄ Peace and Restfulness
As your eyes opened for the first time that day, you could’ve sworn the view that you were met with was more valuable than any monetary item in the universe.
Rinne—asleep. His crimson colored hair stuck out every which way, covering his eyes only slightly. His breath was soft and leveled, the cool, constant breeze of air fanning across your face. You would’ve perhaps taken a picture, but you didn’t want to risk disturbing the tranquil atmosphere.
You debated running a hand through his wild hair, if only to feel the softness of the strands against your fingertips, but you decided against it. You could hold yourself back if it meant enjoying the sight of your sleeping boyfriend for a little while longer.
Smiling, you slowly and carefully shifted onto your side, propping your head up on your palm, elbow resting upon the sheets. This was Rinne at his calmest, asleep, and completely dead to the world. There were no sharp cackles and no teasing comments. It was almost as if for eight hours a day, he morphed into a completely different person. Someone calm. Quiet. It was almost humorous.
You’d be sure to tease him later about how cute he looked, scooting just a bit closer to him and feeling his grip on your waist slightly tighten.
This had to be where you were meant to end up. Fate, perhaps? Rinne would laugh at you if you said that to him out loud, but you were sure it was correct.
The ruckus of an obnoxiously loud alarm pulled you back to reality, groaning as you rolled over to turn it off. Work was work, after all, as unfortunate and aggravating as it was.
Before you could turn back around to wake Rinne, you felt a pair of strong arms pull you backwards, your back meeting a warm chest—a loud and over-exaggerated whine accompanying the movement. You sighed as Rinne tightened his grip and laced his legs with yours, efficiently trapping you in his embrace.
“Don’t get up yet…” He mumbled against your skin, “Mm, I’ll be lonely and cold without you, y’know…” The man continued, nuzzling into you, raising goosebumps on the back of your neck.
“I’m gonna be late if you don’t let me go, Rinne…” you yawned, placing a hand on his that rested upon your stomach. “It’s not like I want to leave.”
“Mhm…” He answered quietly, clearly not listening to a word you were saying, quickly slipping back into his previous state of unconsciousness. This was the standard routine, and it got harder to leave him in the morning with each and every passing day.
‘What a pain.’ You thought, reaching a hand behind you to lightly pet his head, an affirmative and pleased sigh leaving his lips. Oh, how dreadfully heavy your eyelids were…
Lips pressed themselves into the back of your neck, shivers running up and down your spine. “Stay here just a lil’ longer…” Rinne grumbled, kissing your skin once more.
You knew by ‘a lil’ longer’, what he really meant was ‘don’t leave at all’. As needy and clingy as he seemed at the moment, you felt the will to get up and leave slowly escaping you, just out of your reach. If only you were just a bit more determined. But with each tender kiss against the skin of your neck, all coherent and reasonable thoughts left your mind, succumbing to your boyfriends childish whims once again.
It was alright. Perhaps you were overdue for a sick day.
As you sighed and sank further back into Rinne’s arms, you felt him smile against you.
