Jazz isn't the biological daughter of Jack.

It was before their marriage. Back in her league days, Maddie was simply the best of the best. She was the demon's daughter second in command, heading her call any moment and her most loyal subject.

That's how it was, to the people.

Behind closed doors she and the demon daughter were more.

But those are old times, after she betrayed the league, fled and created plans to continue living in relative peace.

That was how it was supposed to be.

That was not how it played out.

During her 3rd year with a man called Jack Fenton, did she receive news of a child, a daughter of her own with Talia. One she created in a lab, trained to follow their footsteps and ran from the league at the perfect time and needed to hide.

So maddie took in her daughter, trained her, and showed the ropes of a civilian life.

Jack loved her as if she were his own. It led them to finally marry and later on have Danny.

Jazz knew of the pits, of the meaning they had, and how much knowledge the leader of the league possessed.

Now she is 17, recently orphaned with her 15 year old brother and on the run because Danny is currently the only living person in this world who knows more of the pits than the current user.

And Ra's really wants that knowledge.

The different parts of Gotham War not lining up at all in terms of plot, character motivation and characterization is bad enough, but now that DC is suddenly trying to explain when other titles like Detective Comics and Batman and Robin are taking place in relation to Gotham War it gets even worse because now all of these storylines make so much less sense too.

#Gotham War #Listing all the reasons why Gotham War and Ram V's Tec run don't fit together would be complicated #Because they are doing similar things with a similar cast of characters but in extremely different ways #And I don't have the energy to go through both storylines to get the details right #But Batman and Robin is simple #You can't have a cozy father-son-story and Bruce going insane and shoving all the parental responsibilities onto Dick #to be a brooding loner again taking place at the same time #Is the entire Batman and Robin book supposed to take place during the few days that Damian was the only one on Bruce's side in GW #Before Bruce abandoned Damian? #Because unlike when Death in the Family happened you can't even use the excuse that Damian changed his mind #And decided to stay with Bruce even though dinf ended with everyone including Dami not showing up at the talk Bruce wanted to have with the #Which was what they did in B&R 2011 #Because back then it was the family that decided they didn't want to work with Bruce anymore #In GW it's Bruce who tells them to leave him alone #He very explicitly abandons Damian despite the fact that Damian didn't betray him and stayed loyal #So this time Damian can hardly change his mind and decide to stick by Bruce because it's Bruce who rejected him #I'm still so confused by Zdarsky putting that in the story in the first place because he clearly has very little interest in Damian #Out of all the male Robins he played the smallest part in this #It probably would have been better for B&R if Damian had been somehow absent for Gotham War like in a lot of previous batfam events #And left the time B&R takes place unspecified #So that it just takes place in its own bubble #I'm usually all for DC telling us how things fit together but for that to be good things need to actually line up #And not outright contradict each other

at 17, stephanie decides that she won’t go back to gotham yet. she can’t. that’s where jason is, the other lost robin, talia tells her. at 17, she trains with staffs, swords, knives, guns, and whips. anything and everything she can get her hands on, even the things b would never let her touch. b thinks she’s dead, and whose fault is that? talia seems to think it’s b’s, but steph isn’t sure. she only knows one thing: this will not happen again. no more dead robins, she swears.

my ideal ending for tim, if you even can call it that, is he does the vigilante thing for like another decade, until he's like minimum 27? maximum 30-ish. and then walks into the batcave one day and just straight up tells the whole family that he's retiring. cue jason and dami going "you can retire???". and then he and bear move across the country so he can teach superhero school in socal and bear can do emt work and tim's happy cause he can finally put down roots without having to constantly leave bear and all the sunlight does wonders for bear's complexion. as much he loved superheroing, nothing beats waking up to the sound of the ocean and bear humming in the kitchen as he makes breakfast. nothing beats, waking up to bear's sleeping face as the sunlight streams in through the window. and yeah, tim's not gonna lie, he does miss swinging over rooftops and helping people but doesn't helping old lady himiko from down the street pick oranges count as helping people? doesn't teaching the next generation of heroes count as helping people? doesn't watching bear come out of the ocean in his wetsuit, still holding his surfboard, dripping, shaking his hair to get out the excess water, as the sunlight casts a halo around him, count as helping people??? it helps him!!

I've got everyone else sorted, but Damian's had me stumped for... Well I could have made this post almost a year ago.

I'm not particularly inclined to make it bird themed, unless it's really really good and there's some reason it would be, since he was never Robin in this AU (no one was until Dick, and Dick is very very small) otherwise... No rules, I need cool name suggestions.
