Really wanted to fill in the wandering priest niche in the Hexslinger, so here's my first go at it! The spell for the last feature is in the pdf under the firearms reference. Hope you enjoy!

HexSlinger my beloveds. I see Hex as ace/demi, so the idea she'd trust someone enough to hold her hand is cute to me.
Here's the og post:

I know I need to finish The Wages of Whiteness so I can get a decent grade in this stupid elective class that doesn't even remotely fit with my curriculum but. But. I just really really want to continue the Hexslinger trilogy. There are two wolves inside you frfr

god its just that gemma files did such a good fucking job letting the reader fully feel and understand why Rook did (and was able to) do what he did and thats what hurts the most. if we only ever got Chess and Morrow's povs there would be no end to speculation, to questions, to a hollow kind of anger. but this. this is fully fed heartbreak. full body hurt because you understand. i think im gonna be sick

Been doing some work on my Hexslinger concept and managed to whip up this design, not too sure how I feel about this but I'm sure I'll improve over time.

Jericho Lynnette
Class: Gunslinger (Hexslinger)/lvl10
Race : Sentient Skeleton
Alignment: Neutral Evil (subject to change and not in the good way)
Pronouns: They/Them
Concept: Magic cowboy skeleton
Whoever Jericho was when they were more flesh then bone, they couldn’t say. They knew they were technically human once upon a time but that time was too long ago for anyone to bother knowing.
Jericho got their name from the necromancer who awakened them but not their mind. They were meant to be a loyal servant, one who would live and die for their master, if need be, and for a while they were. That is until they were replaced.
Upon finding a move powerful undead, their master forgot about them quickly and left them behind. A rage burned in them that shouldn’t have been possible but being abandoned somehow awoke something inside of them and Jericho was truly born that day. Since then the one thing that’s kept them going is their burning hatred for not only their former master but all casters in general.
While they have no flesh of their own, Jericho often finds pleasure in the temptations of the flesh. They keep a long tobacco pipe, which them enjoy smoking, even though they have no lungs. They enjoy things soft and comfortable; and will always go for the finest room they could afford in the inn, even though they need very little sleep. They like gold, even though they have very little use for it; and will gamble and con anyone to get as much of it as they can. They love baths, as odd as that seems, and will sit in tubs “drinking” aged whiskey; for no other reason then because they can.
How a sentient skeleton can do all these things without an angry mob forming or a few adventures coming for them is quite simple. In their left eye socket sits a special glass eyes, (functionally a Hat of Disguise) the eye displays an illusion of a normal, almost generic human being.
Jericho keeps a pair of revolvers on their person at all times, that they lovingly refer to as Honey and Bunny. Made of alchemical silver and ivory, they’re a beautiful pair of weapons that Jericho plucked off the corpses of a man who accused them of cheating at a game of cards. While he might have been correct, that didn’t mean Jericho would accept the insults hurled their way.
All Jericho’s future goals involve upgrading Honey and Bunny further and ultimately awakening them. The way they see it, living beings are temporary, so why not invest in a few friends that could last as long as Jericho could.
But it wouldn’t be in your best interest to suggest that they’re lonely in any way. Not if you know what’s good for you.

What queer books do you recommend?
oh honey i have a whole rec page here if you're up for anything, but i mostly read adult m/m fiction. lots of weird and old stuff with dark tones more often than not. if you want some specific titles as a flavor list, here's a few favorites! i'll link their storygraph pages so you can read their synopses too:
Fantasy: The Rifter by Ginn Hale (dark fantasy featuring a romance that spans years and time and space in decaying world with a destroyer god, and bones. so many bones. has one of the most interesting and well written story structures i've encountered. very moody and dark, hits just right).
Scifi: Body after Body by Briar Ripley Page (erotic adult scifi novella with transmasc and transfem MCs. dreamlike and grotesque, delicate and stomach churning, it's about a group of mind-wiped laborers tending genetically engineered mutant bodies.)
Historical: The Still by David Feintuch (my book series of all tiiiiiiime. it's fantasy too but mostly medieval military fiction. don't even talk to me about Rodrigo if you're not ready to be hit with a twelve page verbal essay i'm not joking, that is a threat. not a typical romance, expect heartbreak and plenty of it and to never recover.)
Horror: Hexslinger series by Gemma Files (planning a reread of this one soon to see if it still holds up but this series has stuck with me like a fly to molasses. it's a fucked up time full of desperation, Mayan gods and godessess, faggotry, blasphemy, and witchery) go with the Bound in Flesh anthology instead if you want good trans body horror, or Down by Ally Blue for deepsea suspense horror.
Contemporary: All for the Game by Nora Sakavic (you probably know about this classic but for me it still tops most everything else i've read. it's got sports, mafia drama, and trauma). for something a little different (but still traumatic) try Mo Du / Silent Reading by Priest (dark mystery set in China that follows several disturbing cases and the psychology behind them + romance between a detective and a rich pretty boy)
but yeah i talk about books a lot on my personal/main blog @wiltking (in lieu of updating my actual rec pages these days, it seems) if you ever want more real time recs! i'm a book guy. i like books a normal amount :)

It's a little messy, but sometimes you like a ship that's so niche you have to make your own art for it .//////.

For anon looking for books with DoL vibes: there are 2 series and 1 standalone that give me similar vibes, the vibes being “this is fucked up and/or queer in a very particular way that I don’t tend to associate with trad publishing.” Check out The Hexslinger books by Gemma Files, Under Jurisdiction by Susan R Matthews, or Docile by KM Szpara. These aren’t *recs*, per se, since like DoL they each come with AW WHOLE HOST of tws, but they may scratch a similar itch?
belatedly putting this out there for the anon who asked, particularly because this ask made me go OH YEAH DOCILE CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T MENTION THAT ONE, I guess because it maybe occupies a slightly different niche in my head due to not being second-world but boy was that a fun one.
"fun" maybe an odd word to use but I stand by it
