how to fall in love with life again
go cloud-gazing, lay down in the grass on a sunny day, or empty roads on a rainy day, stare up at the sky and let your mind wander.
read a book so complex that you don't understand anything, fill your arms with scrawled definitions.
writing poems and notes of kindness, hiding them for other people to find and pass along!
read passages of love in another language, untranslated and realise that love can surpass even the greatest of barriers.
find your favourite flower! hunt for it, research it, write an essay on why you love it and how much it means to you!
buy another copy of your favourite book, fill the pages with annotations and give it to a second hand shop for somebody else to experience it the way that you do.
fill a journal with moments of your life, even if you don't think they're very interesting.
listen to music whilst looking at the moon and stars, realising how beautiful life is.
visit an art gallery or a museum near you. become familiar with it, visit it until you know it inside out. make it your special place.
learn the little things about people, including yourself. find their favourite colour and why, find their music taste, their taste in books until you know them perfectly.
the small things! taking sips of warm beverages becomes the most comforting thing, closing your eyes for a moment on a bus and focusing on the lull of movement.
bake/cook your favourite treat. experiment and find the way that makes it taste simply ethereal.

All About Procrastination
How To Study When You Really Don’t Want To
Common Study Mistakes
7 Strategies to Improve Concentration
Tip 11 - Video Yourself or Do a Timelapse
I actually discovered this strategy not that long ago but now it is absolutely one of my most valuable strategies. The best thing is that it is so simple to do!
It really works well because the video puts some pressure on you to look like you are studying. You can't stop in the middle to play with your pen or stare into space. You just have to keep going so you power through work.
It's also so satisfying when you are finished to see visual proof of how much you have completed!
Tip 12 - Accept that Some Days You are Going to Get Very Little Done
This may seem a little bit odd to put on a post that is meant to avoid getting nothing done but it’s actually a very important thing to remember.
Sometimes you need to take days off because otherwise, you are going to burn out. Some days you are just not going to be in the right mindset for studying because maybe you are exhausted after a big exam, or you have a headache or you feel unwell.
You just need to accept it, draw a line under it, take time for yourself, and resolve to work tomorrow once you feel a bit better. There is no shame in taking time to make sure you stay healthy.
If you can, try to get your quickest, easiest task done so you have some sense of accomplishment.
Tip 13 - "Churn It Out and F*@k Off!"
This was my mum’s motto when she was studying and working in academia. She recently told it to me when I was getting stressed about all the big tasks during online school.
Like I'm certain many of you are too, I am a perfectionist and I always want to hand in my very best work and put 100% into everything. But honestly that is impossible.
Some days you just need to get stuff done and if that isn’t your very best then it doesn’t matter too much because at least you did it. It's also probably better than you think it is. Once you get it done you can just forget about it and move on.
Tip 14 - Ask a Friend or Parent to Check Up on You
When you are studying by yourself, it can be hard to motivate yourself because you know that no one is actually going to check whether you made those notes or did the reading.
So ask a friend or someone you live with to check whether you’ve done the work or get them to read essays. You then get an external reason to study or do your tasks because you need to show them something.
Tip 15 - Rephrase How You Think of Tasks
When you think that ‘I need to do this task’ or ‘I have to get this done’, a lot of the time this causes unneeded stress and anxiety. Also, it makes it seem like you are being forced to do something and human beings generally don’t respond well to that.
So try to change your language when thinking about task into one that is more forgiving such as: ‘I choose to do this project so that I can go meet my friends tomorrow’ and ‘I choose to read this book now because it will help me in the lecture next week’. This is probably the most difficult strategy that I've shared and it will take a lot of practice . However, in the long term, it can help you change the way in which you view studying for the better.

happy weekend! this is one of my favorite spread so far!! <33
i think most of us forget to treat ourselves better.
talk to yourself better, because other's praises won't make sense if you don't put yourself first. it's funny because looking back, i cared waaaayyy too much about what others thought of me. as if everyone pays attention to everything i did. gahh! it took me so long to realise that i am not the main character of other people's lives, but the main character of mine. the thing is, no one thinks of you more than yourself

balancing self care and studies
make sure to get enough sleep - all nighters are NOT good for maximum brainpower, trust me. try to make a routine of what time to sleep and wake, as it helps you to feel refreshed during the mornings.
water! at first i hated drinking so much water because it felt like a chore. so, instead i used one of those big two litre diet coke bottles. it means that i can fill it once and then use it all day, without having to keep getting up. remember, your body can only absorb so much at a time, so small sips!
if it gets to the point where your brain is shutting down and you simply cannot think anymore - then don't. pushing yourself overworks you and ultimately means you're not learning/studying as effectively. try taking a small break, fifteen minutes without your phone, just move your legs, give your brain a rest. if you return and still cannot work, take a longer break or even stop for the rest of the night. you need breaks!
allow yourself some pampering. it doesn't have to be much, but washing your face can make the world of difference. cold showers are refreshing, warm ones are more relaxing. to each their own.
make sure you're living life outside of your studies. sure, for now it may seem like it's everything, but neglecting your mental health is even worse. please take care of yourself.
do some exercise! yes, yes, i know. but even ten minutes of some stretches can do you the world of good. make sure you give your body some work, especially after longer study periods. try not to over do it though - sometimes people do longer workouts, which although aren't inherently bad, it can make exercising feel like a chore.
hobbies! find something fun that you like to do, watch a movie, read a book, do some artwork! (and if you do some - tag me please #snippetsofsherlock )

All About Procrastination

7 Strategies to Improve Concentration
The Performer
This is the procrastinator who forces themselves to work by leaving a task to the last minute. They tell themselves "I work well under pressure" while ignoring the fact that this is not sustainable. They just can't seem to start a task soon enough.
Solution: Set a start date
By focusing on the start date instead of the end date, you give yourself enough time to do the task and take all the anxiety-inducing pressure off yourself.
The Avoider
These procrastinators are the ones who are scared to take on tasks that they think they won't be able to manage. To them, it is better to put off work than be judge by others if they make mistakes.
Solution: Break down tasks into smaller sub-tasks
This allows you to focus better on each part instead of worrying about the whole project. It is also smart to start with the most challenging task because completing it will give you a sense of achievement and helps build momentum.
The Self-Deprecator
This procrastinator is anything but lazy but when they aren't doing anything they are extra hard of themselves. They blame inaction on laziness or stubbornness without acknowledging that they are tired and need a break. They don't know how to adequately rest and take time for themselves, leading to burnout and a cycle of negative self-deprecation.
Solution: Take a break.
Importantly, make sure to take a proper break and allow yourself to recharge. For example, you could go for a walk and allow your mind to disconnect from the task at hand.
The Perfectionist
These are the ones who get hung up on every detail and need to make sure everything is perfect. This procrastinator can get really anxious to start a task because it seems like such a daunting task. They can also get stuck during the process because they are too scared to move on.
Solution: Assign time limits.
Instead of letting obsession with details take up all the time, be clear about the purpose of your tasks and assign a time limit to each. Set realistic time goals so that you can stay focused and finish within time.
The Novelty Seeker
This procrastinator has a terminal case of Shiny Object Syndrome. They are very creative and so are always coming up with new projects to take on but struggle to complete them. You will be quick to implement and make decisions but not follow through. Inadvertently, you end up losing a lot of time and burning out because you can't focus on a task long enough to see results.
Solution: When you have new ideas write them down on a sticky note.
However, don't pursue them until you finish your current task. This way you can keep track of new ideas but still get stuff done.

I need schools to understand that accessibility is not optional! You should always have audio versions of textbooks available, regardless of whether or not there are visually impaired students in class! You should make sure a website works on all devices before making it mandatory! You should put trigger warnings on everything! Disability accommodations are not hard, they are not degrading anyone’s quality of learning, and THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL
