HG Cybaster
  - from Super Robot Wars
    Banpresto Originals
  - by Bandai
He's finally complete!
Cybuster (or Cybaster, Psybuster, etc...) is one of the oldest Banpresto Originals - robots designed by Banpresto just for the Super Robot Wars series of games.
Pilot Masaki Endoh (not that one) and his two talking cats - Kuro and Shiro - pilot the Cybuster across dimensions.
It's a cool fusion of sci-fi and fantasy, and the Cybuster is a beast in these games. One of my favorite units. So I was very excited to get the model kit.
I don't paint my kits, unfortunately. So the pearlescent finish here was a big selling point for me. The build itself is satisfying, and cutting parts from the runner rarely causes any issues with the finish.
But the plastic quality is what you'd expect from Bandai. Very light, very thin. It gives the completed robot a sleight feel - and makes it difficult to pose. Because the joints have more resistance than the weight of the plastic (if that makes sense)
And I hear the Alt Eisen kit is even worse in that regard.
I use a graphite pencil marker to add shading and panel lining. It's not as harsh as a black panel lining pen, it's easier to control the line thickness, and it's transparent enough to just add shading.
It looks a little rough under the macro lens and long exposure - but in person, with natural lighting, it adds a very subtle color variation to an otherwise solid color kit.
But I do love the way he came out. I can't wait to take more pictures of him with the rest of my Banpresto Originals crew.

HG Calibarn is finally finished! Used the G-Rework decals and I think it turned out really well. Unfortunately, while a solid white Gundam looks really cool, any mistakes you make on it will be hard as hell to hide later. BUT it was still fun to build. Surprisingly detailed and articulated for an RG, I can see why so many people sing its praises.
Now I guess I should finally watch Witch from Mercury.

GN-0000DVR/II Gundam 00 Diver Arc
Let's continue our very unneeded and out-of-date deconstruction of Build Metaverse with looking at how the show handled Build Divers. As far as characters go, it probably did the best overall job, with four of the six main cast members returning, as well as Magee. We also get to see them interact with each other, and not just Rio or characters from other seasons. Having both Riku and Ayame get new Gunpla is also a big bonus.
Though I am not without complaints, as this is another instance where they put the original character designs over the updated ones, and it's even more egregious here because those aged up versions of those characters interacted directly with the Re:Rise cast and had decent screen time, unlike Sei who was only ever hinted at. It's pushing nostalgia for something that's not even 5 years old.

The Kit: The kit is mostly the 00 Diver again with a few new pieces, though unlike the Shin Burning, it's a bit more hit or miss. The GN Drives are probably the best we've ever gotten on a High Grade, with the full wing units capable of a ton of poses and gimmicks, and the Drives themselves being multi-layered and capable of opening and closing. They also use metallic stickers for the GN Particle effect.
But things like the chest and horns aren't as great, feeling loose in places. It's the first time since the Seltsam that I've had to glue something to keep it in place. And I understand why they chose to redo the Diver instead of the Sky, since we recently got the 00 Sky Moebius, but it's weird that Riku is the only character to not get his ultimate unit upgraded.
The Details: Apart from the usual panel lining and black fill, I used metallic green underneath the translucent green elements, similar to what I did with the Shin Burning. I also used metallic blue on the eyes, cameras, and a few other places like the feet and elbows.
And, as I mentioned, the chest would not hold together, so I had to use a dab of glue to hold it in place.
Overall, while the tolerance issues were a bummer, I can definitely see myself buying multiples of this kit in the future just for those GN Drives. They're that good. Apart from all that, it's a decent kit with a lot of non-intrusive gimmicks. So I'd say it's a good grab, but be aware of its issues.

THE WWS-03 MAGANAC
One of my goals regarding gunpla is owning all kits from the Gundam Wing anime, since I grew up with that one.
There's not much to say about this one, besides having built it in one sitting.
The significance behind the 32 ...my age... Yup....
Edit, about a minute later....
Just a funny thing I noticed when I putting the Maganac with the rest of its siblings. The way Kimaris Vidar was looking at the axe just felt so funny to me

This action base brings so much more, uh... action to group poses. I've already bought another one so I can pose my other models!

I am so excited, got two kits I have been waiting for, the MGSD Barbartos and the HG Calibarn. The problem is I have a decently large back log going on right now. So running into a “what do I build next?” Issue. I know the Calibarn is going to need to wait. Because I am waiting on a light kit for it and replacing the decals I bought for but can’t find now.
I have a few other GWFM kits that I still need to do, but also a couple of RG kits the new Epyon being one. As well as some other random MSs both from Gundam and from other shows.
What should I do next?

Next review: HGAC Gundam Deathscythe!
Finally I have completed my HGAC Gundam collection! Once Epyon gets its time to shine I will have accumulated all the Gundams (not counting rebuilds).
The Deathscythe, by design, is the definition of unnecessary excess. It has massive bat-like shoulders, a coffin shaped shield and a beam scythe so huge it can reach whatever is standing next to it just by swiveling. But, forgoing this overindulgence of edgelord, this is still an awesome gunpla.
The articulation is much the same as the rest of the newer HGAC Gundams. Though it does have some points that are unique to this kit. In order to allow the arms to reach out to the sides properly the shoulder vernier engines can pivot inside and out of the way. The legs carry a similar mechanism to the MG Jesta in that the knees extend to allow the legs to bend 180 degrees without the knee pad hindering them.
The kit comes with two main accessories; the beam scythe with 2 blades and the shield with its own scissor beam blade. The shield has a point on its back which can be used to mount it to an action base, a nice display feature.
I give the Deathscythe 9/10 - another excellent Wing kit well worth the wait!
