Its not a romantic thing, it's more of a platonic family kind of thing. Personality has a lot to do with how a person processes events in their lives, so yea.

Anya having Amanda's adaptable and brutally forgiving personsonality would result in her developing more healthy coping, and looking for better ways to process her abuse and neglect. This wouldn't mean she wouldn't have the base instincts that were cultivated from that abuse, like recognizing when someone's going to becone violent, but having a better way of reacting to it.

Meanwhile, Amanda having Anya's double sided personality ( having a surface personality and a personality that comes out when triggered) would result in a very distrusting and so sad/lonely she's angry outlook on life fostered from realizing just how little her parents loved her as a person rather than just having a doll they can shape. When someone manages to break through the hard shell, it would trigger a small break down of crying from her, and the need to be held.

Note: what I mean by Brutally Forgiving means to forgive a person just so they never have to think of them again. It isn't so they can move past it or make the other person feel better. To hold a grudge means they are on your mind, but if forgiven, that means they no longer mean ANYTHING to them.

This is why Amanda is so well adjusted and in many cases comes out the bigger person. She literally forgives and FORGETS the person to the point they mean absolutely NOTHING to her. After Amanda forgives her parents (solely for her own sake) she does so in a way that states, they are not her parents, they are STRANGERS who mean nothing to her now.
