It’s been four years since my last trip to Japan, but I’ll never forget my lunch at Hidakaya. Affordable and delicious!
Upon entering the restaurant, mouthwatering plastic replicas of ramen and side dishes lined the glass display. The realistic-looking plastic convinced me to order a bowl of tonkotsu ramen (450 yen inc. tax) and a plate of gyoza (170 yen inc. tax).
Meanwhile, my mother ordered a bowl of shoyu ramen (390 yen inc. tax). The flavorful, soy sauce-based noodle dish was topped with pork slices, bamboo shoots, green onions, and laver.
By the way, we shared the plate of gyoza. Each dumpling was packed with vegetable-meat filling, so I felt full upon my third piece.
So, if you plan to travel to Japan, make sure to drop by a Hidakaya branch near your accommodation or wherever you're standing!

A Very Cheap & Delicious Chinese Dining Restaurant--HIDAKAYA(, pronounced He-Duck-Ah-Yah) [Rates at the 8th of July, Lay-Wa 5]
¥650 $4.57 -- Luxury-Yo-Cha Set = Half-size Ramen, Half-size Fried Rice, 3 Gyoza( Chinese Dumplings)
This set is not big, but not small either. It's pretty 'volumy' for its price, and also very good.
You might note that if you want to just eat and leave within an hour--He-Duck-Ah-Yah is a very crowded restaurant--especially during lunch hours. Your order is going to arrive after some time, not as early as you might expect. It sort of proves they're really making it in the kitchen, though. Nowadays, you can find some of the best chefs within fast food restaurant kitchens--some of them have probably got trophies and prizes from chef contests or something. It's not anything rare these days. You might actually find a grandprix champion at Saizeriya someday, not that you'd be surprised--after reading this... lol. They actually survive--that workload. Of course, we still want a Hoot Girl to cook for us, to replace the male chef, even then. Hahaha(*´∇`*). Don't go tell anyone those restaurants are high-class or anything, even your humble & modest friends might laugh at that. Japanese people don't really compliment on fast food.
