Melo (mute) and Lody (can talk) are the twin advisors to the demon lord Sascha. They're probably his two most trusted demons and they adore him and respect him. While everyone in the demon army calls him "boss", Lody addresses him as "my lord" or "our lord" if with Melo.

Their pink/yellow eyes are actually a link of sorts. Whatever Melo sees, Lody can see. Whatever Lody sees, Melo can see. So they often travel apart from each other to have a wider range of what's going on in order to help Sascha determine the wisest course of action.

I think it depends on who they're serving under. I think most of the time they're just a rank below their assignment: Fetch is Major or Lieutenant Colonel, Die is a Sergeant or second Lieutenant. However Hush and Luck aren't assigned, so their ranks are up in the air. Personally I think Hush is a Lieutenant, and Luck is Major.

#textpost #I took AP art in high school and part of the portfolio project we needed to submit was to do like 8 pieces on a theme #that everyone had to do to test technical ability and understanding of the subjects #Then the other part was like 8 pieces that were entirely original in a medium of the artist's choice but they had to all tie together #So I drew a bunch of horrible monsters/demons looking miserable as all hell and for my tie-in essay on what the theme for them was #I wrote about how no matter how violent or gory or terrifying a monster is they can still feel loneliness and pain #I was really going through it back then lol #Anyway I got a 5 out of 4 on my portfolio. Still very proud of that. IIRC only one other guy in the class also got a 5 #4 of 4 was superb but 5 of 4 was like SSS rank flawless #It's a shame I don't have the essay anymore... What is your absolute favorite scene to write?

I want to say dialogue-heavy scenes, with characters sitting around a table, and with banter and discussion how the plot will progress, but that's not quite it.

It's when I have 3-4 characters, who have come together from different situations. For example: One has a headache and is unusually snappy. One has learnt some impactful news earlier that day and is struggling to focus, but doesn't want to share the news either. Another one for whatever reason has a thing on their mind and slightly derails the conversation when they're reminded of it. Another one is a nerd and oh look they accidentally gave a paragraph of exposition about the world, before the others shushed them.

Yes, it's 'just' dialogue. But I love testing just how much stuff I can pack alongside it. And I love the feeling of writing characters that act differently because of the most recent developments, but it's still consistent with their characterisation. When you know exactly where the deviation from the norm comes from.

“I know, my love,” Simone replied, with one hand dug into his long, snow white hair. “But something is bothering you.”

The former arch-demon of lust smiled against his beloved’s skin, before spinning her around to hold her in a tight embrace. He held her close to his chest, as if he was afraid of losing her within the blink of an eye. “I’m sorry, Simone, I have too much on my mind. I feel that I don’t cherish you enough.”

“But you do, my darling,” she replied as she lifted her eyes to stare into his and cupped his cheek. “You have been working harder than usual lately, which gives us little time for each other, but that’s the point of living this life we chose. You and I will still live forever, so please, don’t stop doing what you love just because of me.”

Seth gently wrapped his fingers around Simone’s wrist to pull it away from his face, and plant kisses against the palm of her hand. She is right, he thought. But he can’t help how he feels. “I’m sorry, my sweet,” he said in an apologetic tone. “Once I finish crafting up clothes for the upcoming show, you and I will go on vacation! It has been years since we last stroll down the beaches of Rios, didn’t we?”

“It has...” Simone replied, then shut her eyes to meditate. “To get tickets for the cruise will be expensive, because the Drifting City is growing closer to our region. Not many ships will go straight to Rios from here.”

“How unfortunate...” Seth let out a sad sigh, then shrugged with a smile. “But no price is too high when it comes to spending time with you!”

“Then you better get the tickets soon, Seth.” Simone then opened her eyes to give her husband a warm smile. “But you do know that no matter where we go, just being with you is enough.”

“And so do you.” He ran his fingers through her platinum blond hair, and brushed his thumb against her tanned cheeks. “I love you,” he said.

“I know,” she replied. “I love you too.”

“I know.” Unable to hold himself back any longer, Seth pulled Simone into a deep kiss.
