୨⎯ "bsd characters comforting reader during/after sensory overload" ⎯୧

The "symptoms" snd scenarios might vary, some might be more extreme and others less.

Feat. Fukuzawa, Yosano, Atsushi, Kunikida, Dazai, Ranpo, Mori, Kouyou, Arthur, Akutagawa, Higuchi, Oda, Ango, Poe, Fyodor, Ivan, Nikolai, Sigma, Shibusawa

Yukichi Fukuzawa:

Symptoms mentioned- (not) wanting physical contact, wanting to be left alone

Place/scenario- the ada office

He would take you to his office for you to leave, if the two of you are in or near the ada building

If you let him touch you then he would gently rub your back or hug you tightly, which ever you prefer

If you don't want physical contact then he would sit as close or far as you want and if you to be alone then he would wait in the hall or just supervise the others

Wouldn't do anything without your permission

If you're having a sensory overload due to the noise in the kind of like work area idk than he will nicely give out to everyone

Will bring you a glass of water when he's wanted back inside

Akiko Yosano:

Symptoms mentioned- hyperventilation, stimming (foot bouncing)

Place/scenario- the shopping mall, a crowded area

Personally takes care of all the people or things that gave you a sensory overload

When you were having the overload she thought you were going to have a panic attack

Since you were hyperventilating and kept bouncing your foot

When you left the shopping center and went to a quieter place with less people that's when you calmed down a bit

She asked if you were okay and if you needed anything

Will wait for you to fully calm down and then the two of you go home

Atsushi Nakajima:

Symptoms mentioned- covering ears, squatting (trying to hide from the noise), clinging onto someone (after)

Place/scenario- someone shouting in public very loudly

The two of you were walking side by side just simply enjoying each others company

But all of a sudden a blood-curdling scream came from behind the two of you

As soon as you heard it you covered your ears and ducked down, still on your feet, to hid away from the noise

Your eyes were shut tight and only opened when a hand lightly petted your head

You opened your eyes and realised the noise was gone, you looked up at Atsushi, standing up and immediately holding onto his arm

Two of you walked home in silence

Doppo Kunikida:

Symptoms mentioned- stimming (scratching), nervousness

Place/scenario- stuck in traffic

He knows exactly what was happening when you started scratching the back of your hand and looked nervous

You were sitting in a car, stuck in traffic. This would have been fine if it were 10 or 20 min max, but you were stuck in traffic for an hour now

He looked at you slightly worried

He told you everything's going to be fine and asked you if you wanted to read a newspaper he found

Osamu Dazai:

Symptoms mentioned- almost crying, shaking

Place/scenario- a loud cafe

You were sitting in a cafe, usually cafes were quiet but this time it was quite noisy, there were kids crying and screaming and everyone was talking

You had went in the cafe thinking nothing of it but you sat down and waited a couple of minutes you realised it was you loud for you, and there were so many different sounds everywhere

Your body started shaking and you felt as if you were on the verge of crying

Dazai noticed your state and took your hand in his and asked "do you want to leave?" You nodded and the two of you left

He offered to go home if you wanted to

Ranpo Edogawa:

Symptoms mentioned- feeling irritated and uncomfortable

Place/scenario- walking through a crowded area

You were walking home as always when you met a crowd of people

Aperantly there was an incident and everyone wanted to know what was going on.

You really didn't want to go into the crowd, looking at it making you already anxious, but you knew you didn't have a choice as it was the only to get to your home

And so you went through the crowd trying to avoid bumping into anyone

After leaving the crowd Ranpo made sure you were ok

Ogai Mori:

Symptoms mentioned- feeling excitement out of no where

Place/scenario- walking and seeing a cat

I feel like this would be a better match for fukuzawa but oh well

You were walking on the footpath at dusk when on your walk you witnessed a cat

It was a great black cat with beady green eyes as big as the moon. The cat was slowly exploring its surroundings and sitting down

Once seeing the cat, you felt a strange excitement quickly build up, and you slowly walked towards the cat, careful as not to scare it away.

Seeing you so excited Mori smiled to himself.

Kōyō Ozaki:

Symptoms mentioned- feeling uncomfortable [in one's skin]

Place/scenario- touch an unwanted texture (something sticky)

You sat yourself at the table where you and kouyou were meeting the customer, once you sat down and up your hands on the table, you immediately drew your hands back. The table was sticky, making you feel very uncomfortable

Kouyou noticed you feeling uncomfortable and handed you a wet whip and cleaned the table

If you wanted to you could hold hands under the table

Arthur Rimbaud:

Symptoms mentioned- fear

Place/scenario- someone bumps into you while walking down the street

You were walking to your friends/partner's place when you bumped into someone, it felt as if they came out of nowhere and left

This made you feel strangely scared

Once you got to his place and knocked on the door you still felt scared

When he opened the door he noticed you were feeling scared and asked you if everything was okay

You said you bumped into someone earlier

He knew pressure helped you relax so he asked if you wanted a tight hug to calm down, receiving a nod in response.

Ryūnosuke Akutagawa:

Symptoms mentioned- hiding away from the noise, slightly shaking

Place/scenario- you were on a job with Akutagawa and a person started screaming

You were on your knees in front of the unconscious body, you were going to take them back to the base to interview them

You thought they were unconscious and so did Akutagawa, until they started screaming 'help', unfortunately you were right next to them and they were screaming as loud as they could

The sudden and loud screaming made you want to run away and so you hid behind Akutagawa

He turned around and looked at you with a disgusted look on his face, he thought you were pathetic, being scared of a little bit of noise

But after realising you weren't necessarily scared and just ran away from the noise his thought of you being weak soon changed into the hatred of the screams coming out of the persons mouth

He shut them up in the end and you could continue doing your job

Ichiyō Higuchi:

Symptoms mentioned- sudden excitement

Place/scenario- hearing your favourite song come up on the radio

You were sitting in the passenger side of the car while Higuchi was on the drivers side

There was no traffic and the sounds of people talking on the radio was quite a relaxing moment for you

Soon the people on the radio announced the name of your favourite song causing sudden excitement to flood your emotions

You turned up the volume a bit and tapped the beat of the song away

Sakunosuke Oda:

Symptoms mentioned- feelings of anxiety

Place/scenario- a firework show

You were sitting with the kids talking about what they wanted to do for the next year

When one of the kids asked you if you would like to come see the new years fireworks you accepted the invitation

It was new years eve and Oda, the kids and you where sitting on a blanket outside waiting for the fireworks

And then a big bang and pretty little colours spread in the sky

You never watched fireworks from so close so you thought it would be OK but you were mistaken, they weren't too loud for you too leave but still loud enough for you to feel uneasy

You hugged Oda's arm to calm down and continued to enjoy the show

Ango Sakaguchi:

Symptoms mentioned- high sensory sensitivity

Place/scenario- your day was filled with many 'close' triggers

You were having a bad day and just wanted to sit down, enjoy something nice and go to sleep

You heard the door open and in came Ango, 'hey' you greeted Ango, he came in the living room and asked about your day while sitting next to you

You told him about your day and high sensory sensitivity which just made him more contusions about how loud he spoke, and so you two sat there complaining about each others day

Edgar Allan Poe:

Symptoms mentioned- restlessness

Place/scenario- karl startled you

You were sitting at the kitchen table reading over one of Poe's works when karl decided to jump on your back startling you, karl jumped off after the yelp escaped your lips

After being startled you felt very awake

Fyodor Dostoevsky:

Symptoms mentioned- covering the lights while being in a room

Place/scenario- you walked into the house and blocked the lights

You just came back from a long day with Nikolai screaming in your ears

You opened the door, the bright light hitting your eyes forcing you to cover your eyes, it was night outside so your eyes weren't as used to the light at that moment

Fyodor heard the door open and close while he was in the kitchen making himself a cup of tea and decided to ask you if you wanted one

Once he saw you, he noticed you were covering your eyes and asked if you wanted a cup of tea, 'yes, and can you turn off the light please?' You asked still blocking the light.

Fyodor did as he was asked and left to make you a cup of tea.

You left the hallway and went for the living room, making sure the light was turned off and turning on the small lamp next to the couch so you could see what was happening

Fyodor came back with two cups of tea and asked you if you needed physical comfort which you replied with a nod while taking the cup away from him.

Ivan Goncharov:

Symptoms mentioned- feeling slightly anxious

Place/scenario- a child hugged you thinking you were someone else

You were shopping around for some groceries and a child got a hold of your leg causing you to let out a small yelp at the sudden physical contact

The child looked and realised you were a stranger and ran back to its mother

Ivan noticed you were feeling anxious and started talking to you to forget about what happened

Nikolai Gogol:

Symptoms mentioned- screaming, crying

Place/scenario- you were in the kitchen at night with the lights turned off and Nikolai turned them on

You got thirsty and slight hungry so you went to the kitchen to get a glass of water and a midnight snack

Hearing you leave for the kitchen, Nikolai got the idea of scaring you

He went to the kitchen and turned on the lights

With the sudden light intensity you let out a scream and started to cry

Nikolai laughed thinking he scared you but seeing you cry made him feel bad

He told its okay and that its only him

You turned off the lights again and that's when it clicked, he apologised for turning on the lights

Sigma:

Symptoms mentioned- feeling anxious, bitting nails and shaking

Place/scenario- crowded airport

You and Sigma had to go to a different country for a while, and so you sat in front of Sigma drinking a cup of coffee when suddenly you started feeling anxious.

Sigma noticed you were more shaky and you were bitting your nails, they asked if you were okay and if you needed to go somewhere quiet

You nodded and he stood up, holding out his hand for you, which ended up with you holding onto his whole arm instead. The two of you walked to a quieter place and you stood there for a while, hugging each other

Tatsuhiko Shibusawa:

Symptoms mentioned- constant rubbing hand

Place/scenario- you touched food in the sink

You were doing the dishes when you felt something unearthly in the sink, quickly pulling out your hand and washing in constantly, trying to escape the sensation

Shibusawa walked in on you trying to scrub off the feeling of touching wet food and grabbed a cloth to dry your hands

He dried your hands and holds your hands in his to let you get used to a different sensation and forget the other
