#hipocrisy is ironic

Can I vent one thing? I kind hate the hipocrisy of some (a big number here) fans on regards Izu and Endeavour.
Like it goes more or less like this:
Fans:😒look at Izu defending Endeavour even through Dabi told how abusive he is.
Me: what you want Izu to do punch Endeavour and praise Dabi? A fucking villain who killed and has no remorse?
The hipocrisy here is how they blame Izu for "siding with an abuser" but Shot befriend BK is cute.
Following that logic, they should hate Shoto too as he is Bk's friends...somehow. BK for all his many flaws, I say this, he is honest in his hate for Izu. Never tried to mask.
As for the other ask I sent and yoy answer. Look, Hori just hates Izu and at this point is just easier to say he is a bad writer (feels lazy but I swear this is the easiest and real explanation here) we dont know why Izu wants to be a hero or anything about his family. His complex of martyr makes no sense (does AM have the same thing? It also makes no sense ....bc we know 0 about AM)
There is so much cognitive dissonance baked into Bakugou and how much people love him, there really is; he hits Izuku and there are Bakugou fans that basiclly say Izuku should thank him for the privilege.
Relatedly, a lot of people apparently find him attractive which... I don't get. But hot people do get away with a lot more than unattractive people, so I could see some unconscious biases on the fact that they think he looks hot, and is therefore more tolerable than if he looked like Mineta but acted like he does in canon.
To be fair, a lot of it is ultimately on Hori himself and the writing; no matter how bad I find his character arc at times, Endeavour's abuse and behaviour was never treated like a joke. Brushed over, sure, but it was never funny. Meanwhile, we passed a point in the story, long before Endeavour's redemption kicked in, and suddenly every abusive thing that Bakugou had been doing, bad things which were Serious Problems he was supposed to deal with, was nothing but a joke, even while Endeavour was still on and off being given shit for being an abuser; it's annoying, but I don't find it surprising people don't take Bakugou's behavior seriously if the story itself doesn't.
Meanwhile, while people's interest in Izuku has died to some extent because of how bad his writing got, I've seen people saying (and I'm not completely disagreeing with them) that Dabi has been carrying a lot of Post War, with all the focus on him and his tragic backstory being something that's actually interesting, and how much character he's allowed to have compared to everyone else, which, ironically enough, is probably enough to make him a more sympathetic victim to a lot of people over Izuku, who isn't even allowed to think about his past abuse with how much his traumatic backstory is being suppressed by the writing.
Granted, it feels like a lot of that was altered to make Endeavour (and Dabi) more tolerable to the readers, and while Dabi is supposed to be a villain with sympathetic origins, some people forget he's very much an unsympathetic person at this point, by his own design, and that would probably be insulted by some of the nicer takes on him.
Ultimately, what Endeavour did was worse than Bakugou, yeah, and I see people say that for why Bakugou is more defensible, but it's not a matter of degree; Endeavour doing shitty things doesn't excuse Bakugou doing shitty things, though there's also the fact that abusive fathers are more universally loathed than bullies, especially with all the extra stuff going on with Bakugou to try and mitigate him.
On the other thing....
Izuku is easy. Izuku wants to be a hero because: societal brainwashing about the heroic system as a whole making the system popular to the people, wanting to help people, and wanting acceptance from others. Being a hero, for him, is wrapped up with all three of those causes.
On All Might... Well. It's been awhile, but back when All Might was allowed to be a character, it was pointed out multiple times that Izuku is, in fact, exactly like All Might (seriously, if we look at what we know about Young! All Might, and it sounds like he's basically taller, more muscular, and to some degree more confident Izuku from the start of the story. He's basiclly Izuku if Izuku never had Bakugou in his life, constantly knocking him down, and maybe had an extra foot or two in height), and while Izuku liked being like his idol, everyone else in the know was worried because All Might went exactly down this road Izuku's going down.
That is to say, All Might is now a lonely old man, scarred and broken, without a life of his own, and the fact he's still alive means this is the good ending for him, compared to him getting himself killed.
(looks at the newer manga chapters meaningfully)
The Izuku and All Might self-destruction parallels is something that came up within the first couple of chapters; it was a very deliberate choice, and it seemed clear, at some point, that All Might was supposed to help Izuku be better than him, temper his natural martyr tendencies, and not get himself killed or horribly maimed, a process that would help the both of them grow past these tendencies.
And yes, we know little about All Might, but after a certain point his development stopped and... in all honesty, as much as Hori seems to hate Izuku, he seems to hate All Might just as much, if not more (or at least All Might isn't mandated to be strong and victorious, anyways, in ways that give Izuku some protections). All Might took this scrawny little boy to the beach and over the course of a summer bulked him up to the point where he could host OFA; he's not this horribly incompetent person that the later parts of the story seem to want us to see him as.
And yet, the more he's developed the more Hori just adds flaw upon flaw to the poor man, starting with being completely incapable of helping Izuku in pretty much any way all of a sudden ('clench your butt' my ass) and turning more and more pathetic over time as his powers waned, and he never got to grow as a character to filled the void in his characterization.
Presumably, mixed with the part where he was meant to teach Izuku... literally anything, All Might's backstory (beyond being basiclly tall Izuku, anyways) was probably going to be organically expanded on over time as their mentor and mentee based relationship developed, but that never happened, and so we have a character whose defining traits are largely having super powers, who no longer has those super powers.

had they (DnD) relied in the “ shades of grey” motto that permeats most of ASOIAF and GoT, they could have made season 8 something remarkable.
Have Jon truly bond with Rhaegal;
Have his Stark siblings be alarmed at this turn of events, especially when he is revealed to be Aegon, and his attempts at appeasing them;
Have the Long Night be devastating and over months, not just a night.
Make clear Daenerys is burning the exists of Kings Landing so that Cersei do not escape and show the caskets of wildfire exploding as result;
Have Jaime kill Cersei at the Throne Room, and kill himself afterwards;
Have Tyrion blame Daenerys, Daenerys points out Tyrion´s hipocrisy and Jon be in the middle;
Have Daenerys lash out at Jon for not being a true Dragon, for not taking her side. Have her command Drogon to burn the Throne and fly away from Westeros, forsaking her claim;
When a Great Council is called, have the Iron Islands and Dorne siding with Daenerys, Riverlands and the Vale as neutral and The North and the Westerlands against  Targaryens ( a difference Jon bitterly note).
Have the new Lord of The Reach- not Bronn- suggest they name a new King instead;
Show Sansa and Tyrion demanding that Samuel Tarly do not speak of Jon Snow parentage as another Targ on the Throne would be “ too dangerous.”- let the three of them discuss what is to be done with Jon- nobody knows where Rhaegal is.
Let Jon be aware of his family machinations but since he truly, truly “ does not want it”, let Jon choose to leave north to be with the wildlingsand meet with both his wolf and his dragon.
The great mistake- outside the obvious racism and misoginy- of season 8 was to use retcons to purposedely make Daenerys the sole responsible for everything. I get they wanted to completely absolve all other characters of any guilt and they wanted a scapegoat, but Westeros has never been a good land t o begin with.
A truly bittersweet ending is when nobody knows who the villain was or if there were any true heroes.

My opinion on Muslims' negative reaction to the hijab and abaya ban in French public schools. via /r/atheism
My opinion on Muslims' negative reaction to the hijab and abaya ban in French public schools. Hi, so I've already been temporarily banned many times in this sub, because aparently criticizing Christianity is totally ok but when it's Islam it isn't. But yes, before you come at me, I don't mean 100% of Muslims with what I'm about to say but many of them definitly. Also, the reason I say "inmigrants" is because the vast majority of Muslims in my country (Spain) and in France the country I'm talking about are inmigrants from MENA countries, reverts are extremely rare, this isn't a racist post, I'm criticizing hipocrisy. France recently decided to ban religious clothing, like the hijab and abaya in public schools, which I think is ok because France is a secular country. The ban also includes cross necklaces, rosaries, Jewish headcoverings etc but not one other religion complained, cuz they respect the fact they live in a secular place, but Muslims want to impose their religion so bad. They say bullshit like that the French government are pedos that want to see "halfnaked girls" (yeah cuz viewing a teenage girl's hair as a sexual organ she needs to cover because men can't resist their animalistic urges is not pedophilic at all, and as we know uncovered hair is being half naked) and called French teen girls who don't dress modestly "cheap hookers" or "provoking" Ironically, if a girl in France wears a hijab at school she'll be told to take it off and will probably get in less trouble than what I've gotten into for using my phone in class or other shit I used to do, but what happens if women don't wear a hijab in Muslim countries? Yeah we all know what happened to poor Mahsa Amini. They've also used this as an oportunity to hate on LGBTQ, saying "yOu cAn chOosE yOuR prOnOuNs bUt nOt wHat yOu wEaR". They like to cry about intolerance but they are a million times more intolerant. And again, I know that this doesn't apply to 100% of Muslims but to enough of them. I may be a Arya stan; but Dany is my second favorite character, so I am here to defend her and I got fucking tired of this hipocrisy. Warning: If there are mistakes on it, I'm sorry, because Im not a specialisty on Dany's arc. This is just me wanting to get some frustration out of my chest.
I'm getting tired to open Twitter, Quora and Reddit with all the ASoIaF "intelectuals" calling Dany a tyrant, when it is clear that they don't even know what the word means. Calling her a slaver. Calling her a monster. Also, there are uncountable that points out she would be nothing without Viserys. You guys know who I'm talking about, right? The one who abused his little sister emocionally, phisically and sexually. Sold his little sister as a slave/let clear that would not raise a hand if all the khalaser raped her, because he needed an army. This Viserys is the only one Im talking about.
"Poor Viserys. He didn't deserve it."
"Poor slaver, mad Danielle destroyed the economy."
"Poor masters crucified. They only have grown in this community. They are not wrong. This fucking white savior is."
Those people have the audacity to say it, and after that, the same profiles change all Sansa's storyline, says Sansa deserves the dragons, what she could do with dragons, and I'm damm sure they are the ones who writes and read fanfics where they put their dear redhead on Dany's place.
The audacity of some people is something infuriating. You know what? Dany is NOT a fucking TYRANT, much less a slaver. How can you point it out, when Dany was a SLAVE herself?! She was SOLD to the dothraki! Why this needs to be said?!
Because she liked the dothraki?
Dany was a pre-teen that was mentally, phisically and sexually abused during her all life, and this is OBVIOUSLY include her childhood.
She just started liking the dothraki after she accepts and takes "control" of her sexual life; or better, just accepts being raped by Drogo as a part of her life, in exchange of it she is respected by the whole khalasar and is gifted with "love" and "care". This is disgusting. It is more disgusting people calling her a bitch because of it! DAENERYS WAS THIRTEEN YEARS OLD! GIVE A THIRTEEN YEARS OLD CHILD WHO WAS ALWAYS ABUSED AND HARESSAD BY HER OWN BROTHER A BIT OF CARE AND " SICK LOVE" THIS CHILD WILL LOVE THEM BACK! THIS IS THE BASIC OF PSICHOLOGY WHEN YOU DEAL WITH AN ABUSE SURVIVOR! THIS IS WHY VICTIMS OF ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS TENDS TO DEFEND THEIR ABUSERS! THAT'S THE REASON DANY STILL REMEMBERS OF DROGO AND VISERYS FOUNDLY EVEN IN ADWD!
The dragons? Dany LOVES her dragons! The mother of dragons is not only a nicknam, much less a title. For Dany they are her children! But she is afraid, she was afraid because she finally saw her loved children were dangerous creatures to others. This is why she locks them. It hurts her, but the safety of her people comes first. She choose to make this sacrifice.
Also for all the crazy people who says Dany would be nothing without her dragons and it was given to her, I say "shut up". Dany was presented with eggs. Who've read Fire & Blood or payed a fucking attention in ASoIaF knows that having dragon eggs means nothing! The eggs were stone! Dead to everyone! In centuries, since the Dance with Dragons there were no dragons. Targaryens loose their life trying to hatch them. Dany is special. She entered into the fire, without knowing she would survive, and the dragons hatched. She was the first kalheesi ever to lead a khalasar. The khalasar just follow the strong ones.
About the tyranny? I can write a fucking whole essay about her called "tyranny". Dany is harsh, this is true. She is vengeful. But you know what more she is? Daenerys is just!
She was an outsider who saw a whole community that enslaved people, children, men and women, and saw that it was fucking wrong!
More than that. Dany saw it was wrong, but she also saw she could change it. She had the power to make it better. So she did.
In centuries, westerosi people and anothers have seen slavery, some despised but didn't do anything to change the situation. Dany was the only one in centuries to see it by what it was and try to change the disgusting slaver culture in slaver's bay.
She could have taken only the unsullied and sailed to Westeros, but no. She choose to stay and make things right. She decided to fight for freedom.
More than that, as queen of Meereen she tries her best to be the best ruler she can be. She wants her people to love her, and she works for it intead of being passive as someone we know damm well. She hears her councillors. Would a tyrant do that? No. Aerys was a tyrant. He would kill anyone who speaks against his will. Dany is not that person. She is not her father. This is her writing. She is a Targaryen through and through, but a tyrant? Never. This is thesis of her arc ass it can be stated by Barristan Selmy who served the Mad King.
Was it wrong to end slavery? I don't think so. Dany tought it was only ending slavery, but she finally saw the political consequence of it, and what I love about her? She is not running away from it. She is facing the consequences bravely. She decided to marry again to please the meereen people and the called "sons of the harpy", because she wanted peace! She wanted her people to stop suffering. This was her wish. More than the iron throne.
The iron throne? Is it wrong for her to want justice and blood from the ones she believes betrayed a good King? To want what is hers by birthright? Because this is what Daenerys knew about her father. Aerys was a good king, betrayed by the Lannister, Baratheon and Starks because the usurpers wanted the throne. Viserys told it to her since she was a young child. It was a fact. How is Dany supposed to know every damn thing? Just recently she is learning the truth of how mad Aerys was.
Also, if people get mad if Dany rides Drogon in the next book, I say fuck you. It's a war she is fighting. Her enemies would be glad to see her head on a spike. If Dany fights back, I will congrelute her.
Dany is incredible complex, with flaws and a lot of redeem qualities. Her arc is awesome to read. If you can't stand that war, death, and that there are no perfect hero, you are at the wrong fandom. ASoIaF is not for you. Get out of here.
And for the stansas and jonsas, because these disgusting people who claim those things can just be part of darling redhead. What your "favorite" have done untill now in the books? Betrayed her family? Survived? Killing her cousin what you claim she is too dumb for noticing? Wow. How spacial. It is easy to "love" such a great incredible cough* passive classicist*cough character. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I know damm well who I stan.
I stan Daenerys of House Targaryen
I stan Arya of House Stark.
I accept their flaws and qualities equally. And I love them for being such incredible grey complexes characters.
For the ones that still say "poor Viserys", and "poor slavers" and "poor masters", I just say one thing:

Terror management theory and the rise of hypocrisy
Inicially proposed by phd psychologists Jeff Greenberg, Sheldon Solomon e Tom Pyszczynski, the Terror Manegement Theory implies that when confronted with it’s own mortality the subject will present harsher judgement and stronger values, based on natural human desire to have a legacy, and in a way filling the terror of eminent death with the confort of being forever alive in others memories.
Personally, I believe that the pandemic served as a constant reminder of our fleeding existence in this planet and that the day of reckoning is closer then ever. Will you go to heaven? Will god let you in? Do you have the right to cast the first stone? Is god real? The truth is that the day of judgment is already here, we experience it every day. Every lie and every person left behind is being disconted, the real question is:  when will it catch up to you? And it will. We are here as students, to what teacher is the mistery of it all. Do you look inside yourself and have the confort of knowing you are doing your best to be fair, kind, truthfull and holding the same standars you hold to others to yourself? We all fail, that’s not the sin. The sin is to not change and evolve.
My morals are the my most precious possesions, and it took looking death in the eye to understand that people want to be so big they forget to practice what they preach. “ Live by the sword, die by the sword. “
You want your “place in heaven”? You are no better then a filthy pig ruminating your own lies if you think you’ll get there by manipulating the ones around you, living a life of hipocrisy. Death was the real start of this road, and ironically it will be the end too. When the time comes I’ll be at peace knowing I did my best to live by my values. Will you?
(TMT)  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7498956/#:~:text=With%20his%20colleagues%20Jeff%20Greenberg,results%20from%20the%20uniquely%20human
Late night thougts, reading to much war related material too lol. I love the idea of a life centered around strong values, to wich I’m 100% prepared to respond to if I ever failed them. I think we have lost in many ways the habilithy of reponding to our mistakes and taking ourselves accountable as much as we expect others to.
When I say I have strong values that doesn’t imply that I’m perfect or better then others, for a long time i believed most people shared this values with me and they just made occasional mistakes like all of us do. But then I understood that a lot of people will just mindlesly fuck others for their own gain and lie and they trully don’t care, and that scares me. That made me lose faith in our society and not trust people. I’ve expected people to try and correct their mistakes after they are shown that what they are doing is hurting others, but some people just don’t give a fuck and I honestly had a hard time acepting that. And now I have, and feel like my purpose is to try being the best person I can be, this is how I cope with being stuck in a world like this, and if it would help you too, I’m really happy I’m not alone.

Daenerys Targareyan: The Path Towards Madness.
Okay let's begin.
Intro: I read book 1. And then, I binge watched seasons 1-6 after season 6 finale. By that time, I knew all the major theories like L+R=J, dark!dany, targ!tyrion etc.
So, I was paying extra attention and these are some of the obvious moments where I felt they showed Dany's mad side show. Some points, you may find valid. Some points you may find silly and over-reaching. In any case, this is what *I* felt.
Feel free to have discussions. Appreciate positive critisism. However, just yelling/abusing will not be tolerated.
1. Lack of Empathy
Her obvious lack of empathy when her brother was killed.
I did not expect her to save him. I did not expect her to mourn him. I did not even expect her to cry for him. I did, however, expect a reaction, any sort of reaction, when someone close (despite him being an abusive asshole) dies that suddenly and that violently.
Tumblr media
2. Her facial expression during Drogo's speech.
"I will kill the men in iron suits and tear down their stone houses! I will rape their women, take their children as slaves and bring their broken gods back to Vaes Dothrak!"
Tumblr media
3. During her Breaker of Chains phase, she conviniently seemed to forget that she used to practice not only slavery, but also pillaging while she was with her khalesar.
Master Illeryoi owned slaves. Her brother owned slaves. She was gifted slaves to teach her how to please the Khal.
Her husband was a war-lord and her khalesar constantly raided and pillaged villages. They killed men. They raped women. Remaining alive women were taken as sex slaves and later sold. That was their way of life. She saved Mirri Maz Duur and several other women from the fate of gang rape and murder but they were still dragged along side the khalasar as slaves. In books, the reason MMD was not sold was so that she can assist Dany during childbirth.
4. The burning of Mirri Maz Duur (MMD)
This is going to make sense to a lot of people. But confuse the fuck out of many. But let's see.
In colonized countries, we have a term called "Savior's Complex". It is where a colonizer raids a country, steal its riches, impose extreme taxing, destory most of its heritage and then expect praise for bringing something (could be education, technology, architecture).
Dany takes the complex another step above. She not only expects gratitude from an enslaved MMD while dragging her along with her khalesar with sole purpose of assistance with childbirth, she also expects her to save the life of her husband. The war-lord whose khalesar raided her home, pillaged her village, killed her countrymen, raped/killed her countrywomen, dragged remaining alive women along with the khalesar to be sold later. Despite all this, Dany expects gratitude from MMD for her life. This flawed logic however is thrown back in her face.
"So, tell me again exactly what it was that you saved?"
"Your life."
"Why don't you take a look at your Khal? Then you will see exactly what life is worth, when all the rest has gone."
This is an old age tale of revenge. Khal raided her village. She took revenge on them for destroying her temple. Dany burned her for it.
What completely bamboozled me in this fandom was how much people hated MMD for what she did while completely making Dany the victim in this scenario while forgetting that MMD was the orginal victim who was not only an enslaved prisoner of war, but also gang-raped victim of her khalesar's doing.
5. Ser Barriston's words.
Ser Barriston in Mereen, tells her to treat injustice with mercy. She replies that she will treat injustice with justice.
Another quote by Ser Barriston: "He gave people the people the justice he thought they deserved."
Justice and what people in power percieve as justice is often very different.
6. Daenerys' justice for the crucified slave children
She did that by choosing 163 random Great Masters and crucifying them to avenge the 163 slave children. This seems like justice. But is it, really? They never recieved trial. They were never proven guilty. Like Hizdahr Loraq said, some of the masters were not in favor of crucifying children and tried very hard to stop it. Who knows how many other good masters she crucified?
This is a direct parallel to Ser Barriston's words about Mad King Aerys: "He gave people the people the justice he thought they deserved."
7. She stopped slavery only when it benefitted her.
Some of you, while reading point 6, may have thought, "They were SLAVERS! So what?!".
Well, while choosing 163 masters, Dany decided that all Masters are her enemies. She decided that all of them deserved punishment. She decided that they were guilty just for engaging in slavery while conviniently forgetting that if that were the case, she should be the one in the first cross.
8. She burnt Great Masters without even investigating who were behind the Sons of Harpy's attack.
After Ser Barriston's death, we again get to see more of her twisted sense of justice. By her own words, "Who is innocent? Maybe all of you are, maybe none of you are. Maybe, I should let the dragons decide."
It is not supposed to be called justice if you punish (and a cruel punishment, at that) without even caring whether they are innocent or not.
Tumblr media
9. "You are a conquerer. Not a ruler."
Time and time again Dany proves this to be true. She conquered Yunkai and left immeidetely. The slavers took back the city in no time. She closed off the fighting pits and refused to open them despite being told that participants will be free men who enter willingly. This is where ruling comes in. Any place she conquered and freed, she failed to put something else to keep up the economy. She collapsed the economy so bad that slaves were selling themselves again.
Tumblr media
10. Wrongful imprisonment.
Dany finds that Drogon has harmed children. The correct response is to either train or punish the dragons. She, however, imprisons the two dragons who werent at fault while Drogon ran free. Does that mean she is not responsible for whatever terror or death Drogon caused to wherever he flew off to? What exactly does imprisoning Rhaegar and Viseryion get her?
What kind of justice is it where the accused is free while the innocent get prisoned for association. Again, feeds into the twisted justice train.
11. Twisted Justice. Hipocrisy. Again.
While many men were fed to dragons, Hizdahr Loraq was imporisoned. He begged for mercy in terror. She also decides that she will show her respect for Meereen by marrying a member of one of its great families. For a woman who was forced into marriage and "sold like a broodmare", she sure didn't feel any moral dilemma in making a terrifed man betroth her. His death though, proved that he was not at all involved with Sons of Harpy and he was imprisoned for nothing.
12. Burning POW's
Burning Tarly's (father and son) was a direct paralell to her father burning Ned's father and brother alive. You cannot hide behind "It was a war. She gave them a choice." No matter what defenses one can attempt to give her, killing (forget burning) POW is a war crime. So is forcing prisoners against their own side of war.
Tumblr media
13. Defending cruelty in path of justice
She killed Tarly's and defended that decision, by saying that was necessary.
When Hizdahr asks her how many men will have died to achieve her goal, she says "They would have died for a greater cause." She is talking about destroying cities and sure, that must be for a greater purpose.
When Tyrion reminds her that about what her father planned to do when she said she wnated to burn Mereen to the ground.. her response was "This is different,". How, exactly?
"The easiest way to defend cruelty is to say that it is part of the destiny."
Tumblr media
14. The insinct to burn down cities.
By s8e01, she has wanted to burn down cities thrice. Meereen - once. King's Landing - twice. Both times, she had to be talked out of it by her advisors. The fact that her first instinct when her plans were failing was to burn down cities. Direct parallel to Aerys wanting to destroy king's landing because he thought there were traitors everywhere. The fact is that a person can surrond themselves with good counsel. But it is not necessary that the counsel is always heeded. Which is what happened to Aerys. He was going incresingly mad for months and his counsel members hid the fact from the outside world because they thought they could control the madness. We all know what happened in the end.
Since s7, Dany has been becoming increasingly paranoid about Tyrion's loyalty and increasingly more frustrated with every loss. How long before she decides not to listen to them anymore?
Tumblr media
15. The entire collonialist/white savior imagary presented in Essos.
It is amazing how most of the fandom either ignores it or is just unaware of it.
Though this point doesnt parallel anything to the show, i just found it extremely cringy. I am sure members of most colonized countries would. I cant even beging to describe how cringy that mysha scene was.
16. The typical white priviledge mentality.
She wants to inherit her ancestor's throne and power. But she doesnt want to repent for her ansestor's sins and betrayal.
17. Wrong sense of entitlement
She truly believes that she is entitled to the North's fealty. She asks Jon Snow not to judge her based on her ancestors and in the same breath asks him to hold up the vows of his ancestors.
But, whatever vow the Starks made to the Targareans was broken the moment Aerys decided to burn the Starks. The fealty was made on promise of protection. Technically, any member of the houses that Aerys burnt, is no longer accountable to the vow.
Still, she expects everyone to uphold their fealty but refusing to accpet that her father broke that fealty when he decided to burn the vassels (whom he promised to protect) alive.
18. Savior Complex
Some parts of Dany reminds me of how missionaries work.
"Will your God punish me for not praying to him if I did not know about him?"
"No."
"Then why did you tell me about him?"
I believe one thing about Daenerys Targareyan. That she truly wants to help people. That she truly wants to save people. But her problem is, she wants to be the one to save people. She doesnt seem to understand that some people dont require saving.
She talks about freeing the world of tyrants and in the same breath refuses to give North the independence that they demand in solidarity. How is that not the definition of tyranny?
This is Westeros. I am not expecting a democracy and free elections. If she wants to be a conquerer, then she can be one. If she wants to bring to bring together the 7k, she can. What she cannot do is talk about destiny, talk about a wheel, talk about breaking the wheel, and and then do the exact same thing her ansestors did years go by spinning the wheel so that she is on top.
19. She was smiling when she saw that her dragons terrified people of Winterfell.
20. "They eat whatever they want"
Is that really the correct way to respond to people are already scared/cowering over the arrival of dragons? To people who have never seen such beasts before? Did she forget that few seasons ago "whatever they want" that Drogon ate were children?
Tumblr media
21. Jaime's trial
She made Jaime stand trial and was heavily leaning towards punish him despite the fact that she knew what her father had planned and what Jaime Lannister had done. She openly spoke in favor of the Mad King in front of Northern Lords. When Tyrion intervened, she publically breated him and questioned his loyalty. Further adds to the Mad King's paranoia and unwillingness to listen to counsel.
22. Jaime Lannister
Not only has he tried to kill her, he has also questioned her intentions twice. The only living person who knows about Mad King more than anyone is perhaps Jaime Lannister. When he questions Tyrion, "Is she really different? Are you sure?" in a sceptical tone. If he doesnt trust her or thinks she had the Targ madness, then I am willing to bet that she probably does.
23. Her decling human connections
the show seems adament in making her seem alone. Like a stranger in her own home land. In an episode full of emotional reconnections, tenderness, friendships and relationships, she is shown all alone. In later episodes, she is incresingly shown alientated: Theon coming to fight for the starks despite being her bannerman, death of the Jorah, Tyrion's withdrawal.
Tumblr media
24. jorah was her mercy.
She had shown jorah mercy despite his betrayal. She cared for him and most importantly, completely trusted and listened to him. When she felt no remorse about berating Tyrion and strongarming Sansa, jorah urges her to forgive tyrion and to try and make amends with LAdy of Winterfell. And, she listened to him. He is the only advisor she fully trusts and listens to without having to worry about wavering loyalties. And jorah's death is going to be the acorn in Ice Age that started the avalanche.
Tumblr media
<<2 episodes left. will add more after next one airs.>>
This is not to say that she was an evil character. She was a good person with good intentions and bad execution with a twisted sense of justice and destiny. But, the journey to hell is paved with good intensions. Dany was a character who had the potential to be great. But she was always headed to doom. She is a good person whose downfall will be due to pride, ambition and obsession with destiny. She will chose her fate with a sound mind but a flawed personality. Her story will not be heroic, but tragic. Not because of what she was, but because of how she could have been.

Oh dude! let me tell you: rads are not the only ones mad at Harry with the TPWK video (there is not surprise of rads fuming because of Harry) BUT some larries are saying they can’t enjoy Harrys video because Louis is still stunting with Eleanor and Freddie is still in the picture; that hshq is feeding the haters against larries and they can’t joy anything because of that hipocrisy. They hate that Harry is doing apparently a lgbt video meanwhile liam and lou teasdale are dragging larries... yeah, those were larries’s posts, can you believe it? Even when the video was filmed in February they think Harry and hshq are plotting against Louis with the recent denials made by people close to Louis. Of course, this only happens when Harry is doing something, you wouldn’t see the same energy if it were Louis the one doing a new music video because it would be celebrations not negative posts, suddenly Louis’ participation in stunts is forgotten. This time were (some) larries doing the dirty job.
Hi anon,
These larries you speak of certainly are sounding an awful lot like rads then.  I’m glad I don’t see them on my dash.  While I think there have been some fair criticism of HSHQ/Azoffs, in general, I think they’ve done a wonderful job for Harry.  It wasn’t so long ago Harry had a widespread, “iron clad” reputation as an incorrigible womanizer and was twice named “Villain of the Year” by one publication.  As you well know, Harry’s success has in no way harmed Louis’ career.  Also, Louis loathes being portrayed as a victim.

Again, it's incredibly ironic/interesting how when Warren was still in the race Bernie supporters were so concerned with splitting the primary votes and when other people made the 'it's the time to vote for who you want' comments they basically frothed at the mouth, but now that it's Bernie in her spot all of that is totally acceptable.
das hipocrisy baby

I wrote a nice and long letter of apology because Lieutenant Green ordered me to. I hope they all smile over it. I told him that I would apologize to them if he could tell me why they promoted Sergeant Bumpkin over Corporal Doesalot. Of course he couldn’t, because there is no fucking good reason, and I’m right. Imagine complaining to me about my letter’s wording like that’s going to fix their utterly shit decisions. If they want any shred of respect from me, they will earn it just like anyone else. Quite frankly, my respect is down to zero after they agreed to fucking dock my pay over my opinions. Quite frankly, they are being VERY unintelligent.
Now I will write to you, my dear book, what else I think.
Boy: Probably one of the most disconnected people in this regiment. Do they let him make decisions without even seeing what is going on in the field? One of many who needs to step aside for fresh blood. Wizard is handling everything for him. I did mean what I meant in the letter, but I never see him.
Blonde: Doesn’t have what it takes to be a true soldier - will hesitate when the moment comes. The arrogance she gives I have seen to be unfounded.
Blonde two: She needs to teach them, but all she does is spoils them.
One-eye: She slobbers over authority like its her only point of merit. Sadistic. Unintelligent. Disconnected. If someone doesn’t bow to her, she’d be sure to have their head. The type that would execute someone over mocking her stupid faith.
Scars: Honestly don’t have a lot to say about him; he’s always been good to me, but does he agree with them that my letters are harsh? Surely he has some sway in what I am reprimanded for. I should think that he would stop these fools in their tracks, unless he is one of them.
Westfallen: I hope he feels stupid for challenging me regarding headcover rules.
He at the head: Clings to the reigns of this regiment and will never let go. Maybe it would be good for him to retire? That, or let someone else in the seat while he does what he was promoted to do; why insist on doing all of the things that he used to as well? Everything is slowed to a crawl because he refuses to give up his iron fist over this company.
Green: How dare he tells me to swallow my pride when all the officers fucking do is talk down to their subordinates like they’re better and smarter and can fire them on a whim. It isn’t so fun when one of us isn’t bloody stupid and challenges them back, now is it? Docking my pay for -indirectly- calling them stupid in return? In a fucking formal correspondence regarding a serious issue that they just made that could potentially get soldiers killed, by being -stupid-? I cannot say a blatantly stupid decision is stupid? They want me to word it nicer for their sensitive feelings? Is this not the military where feelings are set aside for efficacy? This is a fucking hipocrisy.
Bishop: Green mentioned that I was bitter? I have a right to be bitter after what she did to me. Just a snooty noble, just like they say. I carry forever a mark from her incompetence.
Camouflage: Whatever, I never really see him.
My service record is exemplary. My knowledge is exemplary. Everything I do here is exemplary. What, don’t like me taking off my bucket in the city? I follow the rules that matter, and change the ones that don’t.
The only thing stopping me from that meager promotion is their stupid feelings and THEIR stupid pride. I was qualified for it months ago. I cannot imagine the amount of stubborn ignorance that is needed to not realize that I can do THEIR job far better than they can.

Play Your Side of the Bed by Loote
Have you ever felt happy in something that you’re not supposed to want?
The eight o’ clock daylight seeps through your blinds, stirring Hoseok from his sleep with an answer on the tip of his tongue. The question has long loomed over his head for some time now, the answer clear to him everytime he has to assure himself of his stand in your life. But today was too early and what he can only do is look at you - hair a mess, bare face, tired body engulfed in the sheets by his side. Hoseok smiles and tucks the few stray strands of your hair behind your ear. The steady rise and fall of your chest makes him reminisce the steady pounding of last night’s rain.
The clouds weren’t gray that evening; a darkish cerulean even, yet the rain was heavy, dropping on the pavement like thunderous claps, hitting the hood of his car in a clangorous downpour. But to him, it was ironically mellifluous – to find beauty and calm in tragedy and noise. It shouldn’t even be therapeutic to him. He liked it in a kind of a pathological extent. And the same goes for you. He turns his head to look at you picking at the bits of the worn rubber on the handle by your side. He refuses to have another image of you leaving so he speaks up, “Have you ever liked something that is quite mismatched?”
The pale peach of your lips curve a little. Your wine red lipstick he knew you always liked has long served its purpose. The hour ago was intimate, having you straddled on his lap to “just kiss,” peppering his jaw in butterfly kisses and breathy wonders of “I really like the way your lips feel on mine.” Your lips are satin on his heated skin and wasted no time reciprocating the intensity you paced, devouring your mewls and moans with the plush of his chapped lips. But what he liked most was the aftermath, the scene after the onslaught of his affection on you – tousled hair, smeared lipstick, and trying to catch the breath you lost because of him. Toning down your aggressiveness, balancing out your edges with his softer ones, he thinks you’re pretty in peach. Well, you’re pretty everyday. It’s just the way you looked now that only he is privileged to see, was stupefyingly beautiful.
Your voice makes him divert his eyes from the plush of your lips toward your eyes. You let out an amused laugh, “Stop staring at me,” and Hoseok giggles. Grinning wide, you answer his question, “I don’t know, maybe some of your parts.”
"Why just parts of me?“ He chuckles, quickly drowning the bitterness that unexpectedly dropped in the pit of his stomach.
You look at the gray ceiling of his car, pondering on thoughts warring in your head. You always tend to think too much and Hoseok knows this ever since he’s been by your side in high school. Until now when you’re living the rest of your prime years as adult-like the both of you could be. He’s still wishing you could let some of them bother his mind too, so you won’t need to always endure the mess your thoughts create. Someday, if you’d let him, he’d always gladly do so.
He watches you clear your throat, body angling to your side to completely fill his view of you. You lean, body facing towards him just in time he did the same. “You make me…feel happy. Sometimes,” you quickly add, “Especially when I need to. Yeah, you do that to me.“
Legs crossed on the leather of the passenger seat, your fingers twiddling the frayed ends of your plum-dyed hair. He’s only a few inches away from you, fingers aching to tuck those strands behind your ear. But he’s not in that place…yet. He keeps his hand on the wheel and focusses on the monotonous symphony of the wipers for his beaten-up car and beaten-up heart.
It’s only hopeless because he knows there are weaknesses that will weigh down on your back until you’re on your knees. He just chose the wrong time to give in. “Why sometimes?”
Especially when you are his weakness.
               "Hmm?“
Hands leaving the wheel, he leans on the side of his locked door, fully facing you. It’s no use to refuse when temptation and desire has always been in his reach. "I said, why sometimes? Don’t I make you happy always?”
You only look at his imploring eyes, snickering before you tore them to settle on the fogged glass of the window. “I’m happy, Hoseok, I really am. It’s just-”
               "Him?"
               You pause before affirming, "…yeah."
And someone else happened to be your weakness. Someone who left you for another woman. It was two years ago, why are you still holding on your pointless hope like a naïve child? Hoseok clenches his fist, nails digging crescents in his palms. He wishes he could also do those impressions on your mind just to wake you to your senses, but he can’t do so. He loves you and he can’t hurt you that bad. He can only say something that has been established true from the start. “You know he’s not coming back, right?”
               "I know, I just-“
"Wait?” He faces you one more time; you’re still looking outside. “You know you’ve been doing that for a very long time.” Waiting for nothing, refusing to look at him - he meant both of these but he doubts if you could actually notice them. Your eyes had been long blinded by the scraps of his so-called love.
               “I know.”
The prolonged silence suffocates the air conditioning inside the confines of his car. He revs up the engine and pushed his foot on the pedal. He talks about his yesterday’s dance class and you animatedly joined him with another misadventure in your office. He’s always been good in diversion.
By the time the downpour has receded into a shower, Hoseok has already pulled the vehicle in front of your apartment. You beckoned him to stay for the night, just like always, and he finds himself stumbling inside the threshold of your home.
But last night was different, and he could assure that because he felt it too.
You didn’t ask him to make you forget, to erase him from your mind, to make love to you. It was the first for the countless nights you invited him to fill the empty space of the bed on your side. It has always been lonely to keep a large fraction by your side empty and cold. For the years that has passed before you met him and after he left, Hoseok has been trying to tell you that your bed is not designed to just hold two lovers engaged in physical passion. For overnight tornados of desire and lust cannot warm up a frozen heart when it could easily leave wreckage and ruins that may lacerate the fragile organ.
Hoseok admits to his faults - he’s given in too many times to your pleas, a hipocrisy in act when he’s trying to keep you away from the toxic waters but is willing to toe them until he’s knee-deep if you ask him to - an excuse to touch you, a motive for him to love you. His Achilles’ heel you truly are.
"Can you just…lie by my side? You don’t have to do anything, I just-“
"Need someone to fill his space?” Hoseok didn’t mean for it to sound so bitter before he could think about what he spewed.
But it’s not what’s on your mind. “No, I just need you to be by my side.”
Hoseok was astounded and can only nod.
That night, he curled to your side and pulled you close to him, the warmth emanating from his chest lulling you to sleep. In the thin line of consciousness and sleep as he closed his eyes, Hoseok felt you tug his hand draped on your waist to lay them on top of yours. One, two, three - you enclosed your fingers and locked his hand with yours. Like what lovers do. Like what he usually dreamt of doing with you. And while the night is dead, Hoseok pressed a loving kiss on your hairline.
The indigo dips and creases on your bed are now cream and white and Hoseok looks at you snuggled deep in your sheets. Loving you may hurt but it’s not enough to drive him away. You turn to your side, facing him, and still asleep. Looking at you with peace unusually painted on your un-creased brows and parted mouth, the porch of your chest vulnerable and opened wide, Hoseok decides to drape himself onto you, to embrace and inhale the scent of you with his hands wound around you like the lover who’s capable to hold his love in his arms. He can only grant his heart some peace when you’re sleeping, all his wants and needs muddled in a plethora of affections he could only lay on your doorstep:
I want to be your friend you can hopelessly fall in love with, the one you could take willingly into your arms, into your bed, into the world you keep to your head unvisited by anyone. I need to love you and know how to touch you – how I could make you stare at your pains in one of those sleepless nights and only feel my love supersede anything that is contrary.
And Hoseok could only wait until you decide to bask in the daylight, to go out and pick up everything you need to know about him, you, and the both of you.
Have you ever felt happy in something that you’re not supposed to want?
You slowly opened your eyes, meeting his.
He doesn’t need to think twice; the answer has always been clear. Loving you is something he has always wanted and needed. He’ll always be happy when it comes to you, regardless of conditions and conventionalities - he will be happy through and through, no second thoughts, no regrets. Just you and him, him and you. You don’t have to toss and turn anymore.
               Hoseok smiles. “Good morning, Y/N.”
You return his smile, your hand in his hold squeezing his. “Good morning, Hoseok.”
               He would wait.
What are you doing?

What would be the best way to write anti war in a modern devilman?
Honestly Idon’t think it’s necessary to change much apart from adapting it to our days technologywise. Which is why I found, at first (later I learnt this just had stopped being the main point, though I still don’t think that ‘excuses’ certain points), many of the changes of Crybaby jarring ina ‘what was the point of doing this?’ way. I remember an ask in the past where I replied I wasn’t expecting manychanges for this same reason. All of those original characters having so muchscreentime, and getting written from scratch arcs, is something that took me bysurprise.
Let’s see. Forthe original Devilman manga we have (at least) three main points trying to show us thistheme that we have to take into account:
Humans and demons, blurring the line of which one wasactually the monster, acting as each other. Lots of examples. Kaim showing feelings just like a human would, sacrificinghimself for Sirene’s chance at victory; humans accusing other humans of beingdemons just for the sake of slaughter, etc. Extended later in Lady afterdirectly stating them as the basic same thing.
A normalboy gets spurred into battle and sees all of his morals getting trampled little by little, until a point where he renounces to hisinitial goals of protecting humankind and engages into a pointless battle filled by anger, getting humans killed by inaction in one hand and all of his devilmen team inthe another. Extended in Devilman Lady once we get to see them all trapped inHell, and in Shin Devilman, which shows said boy killing humansway before everything tumbled down.
A higher being confrontes his own father to save livingbeings of getting killed for not being worthy, just to end up killing other living beings he deemed unworthy after seeingthem polluting the planet he fought for, realizing his hipocrisy and regrettingeverything when it’s too late.
DespiteCrybaby adding a lot of content from Devilman Lady, the novels and OVAs, or Saga(even the liveaction!) the first point is barely touched. Demons are seen justas ‘those monsters’ up until the end (Sirene’s battle conclusion isnever touched again; and no, Satan is not a demon but an angel so it hardlycounts; it would hardly count anyway even if he were due to how he gotportrayed). Humans acting barbaric is something that happens yet this is notenough deepened. Even the scene with people experimenting on devilmen (andMikiko) gets a 30s cameo at most. Hell, I don’t even remember if the antidemon specialcorp created by the gobernment (which is explicitly stated by Akira as thebeginning of a witch hunt just like the one in the XVI century) existed. That’show few emphasis that part got. And God’s attitude getting changed doesn’treally help.
The second point is hardly there. Akira in the adaptation nevergives up on humankind (Ep10: “Humans won’t lose to demons. I swear I’m going to destroy you all!”).The few flaws he got in the adaptation (such as what happened in Ep5) are never brought up.
Ryo/Satan is completely villanized on here (I feel people havealready talked too much about him so I’ll just link to this instead: just look for the Ryo/Satan posts). He never ever realizes he made a mistake when it comes to humans. And his onlychange is right at the end because MUH FEELINGS.
All of thiscreates a story of “Good VS Bad” typical of shonen manga instead of a story of “bunchof idiots who are fighting each other instead of sitting down and talkingthings out before absolutely everything is lost and no single one of them wins”.
Do you see why this doesn’t work?
I’ll run out of characters if I dwelve much more into thisso I’ll link to this instead. Ican elaborate if you wish, however. Just send me another ask then.
Apart fromthis I’ve said (strange changes are strange) I feel Yuasa/Okouchi as ateam didn’t take enough advantage of what the adittion of moderndays could mean. Yes, the scene with Miki blogging in Ep9 is touching, and theymodernized the design of the characters, adapted the delinquents to rappers,… butthere isn’t much more to it. Especially not when it comes to the antiwarmessage. We can see GPS systems and some other details but that’s not what I’m getting into.
Back in the1970s when this manga was drawn smartphones didn’t exist. The Internet did butit didn’t got popular until 1990s. There was TV, phone or radio, of course, but inthe end news simply went slower. And letters aren’t free instant messaging.
Let’s go to Vol.4 so I can explain what I mean.
In here, we can see Miki went out to buy all thenewspapers she could get her hands into.
Tumblr media
A newspaper shows you the printed news and that’s it. You can’t know anything else until anotherone gets printed. The surge of SNS, however, has made news faster. For good or worsewe can know what’s going on at any point of the planet at any time. When there’s a disaster we can know ithas happened few minutes after and get every single detail wewant at the minute.
In a context like Devilman from Vol.3 onwards that’s as muchof a blessing as is a nightmare. You wouldn’t be able to disconnect. There’s not a pause between news andthat’s both good and bad. It’s good to stay informed but it’s terribleto get obsessed over it.
We also live in the era of information where we have theneed of constantly consuming the newest news. This leads to journalism becomingeven more sensationalist, hiding info, talking about an issue thatthey actually don’t know about, or straight up lying. Ironic, isn’t it? Something like that wouldhave been so nice to use. But then it didn’t. Oh.
The other way of communication in the manga shown in the samevolume was phone calls from people living near of each other, or just speaking mouth-to-mouth. As I said, there was no Internet. This centralized everything, to the point oneof the Neo Devilman episodes makes us see a group of people trying to run fromtheir city expecting they won’t be recognized somewhere else and will be ableto live a peaceful life. In the Devilman manga we saw people were pointing out to others theydidn’t like as demons (which gets them tortured and killed) and others following them just to not go through the samefate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now imaginean anonymous board in the Internet created for the sole purpose of outingdemons… which becomes a board where people points out to someone they don’t like doxxing them in the process. Once their info is online said person can’t runanywhere. They’re marked forever. How cool a scene like that would have been with ‘Smells Blood’playing as BGM? And yet another unexploited idea.
The quickscuts to paranoic SNS messages, among other things, were good, that’s right, but they didn’t show as well thelack of humanity and creeping up paranoia for me that was shown in the manga. Many of the messages weren’teven translated (and the Arabic ones are simple gibberish from what I’veheard).
Tumblr media
I also felt scenes like Miki’s death lost a lot of emotion just because it stopped feeling as… claustrophobic, may be the word?, as the original was. She fought for her life up until the end there. It was a “It’s them or me!” situation. Crybaby Miki, on the other hand… well.
It was the modernization what made me thought before Crybaby was out that humanity wouldn’t last twenty years as it does in the manga. And on that I guess I was correct. There’s notimeskip ever stated in Crybaby so I can only think the events were quicklyfollowed one after another.
Last butnot least, demons fusing indiscriminately in the manga with humans to provoke general panic was a clear symbolism for kamikaze attacks. Yet alone more antiwar being shown (that’s completely missing in the adaptation).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being born japanese Yuasa/Okouchi shouldbe ashamed of removing this and changing it for that stadium episode instead. That, and removing the Zenon scene right after. Seriously, such terrible choices.

Positivity." People getting angry with people with no hope, no light, upset with the universe and it's choices.  Ironic. What is the cost of positivity?  A dime, a pound, a penny?  Exclaim your positivity.  Let the world hear you.  Fight the hipocrisy of their anger with your attitude.

Second Coming
Arrived on thursday the 12th, hoping to get a room for rent in less than twenty-four hours, I’m on the verge of my first week back in BDC and I’m still crashing at my gently relatives. It’s always been like that: you last more in the second coming.
Aunt Sassy has been kind in letting me sleep this couple of nights (about to become three) on the couch; she’s not lost her touch, keeping the time as a tandem of candor and madness. Wanna know her story? Spoiler alert: she's unruly, mischievous, bossy and full of love. Facts: always sneaked out to party hard, never got scolded enough to avoid teen pregnancy and left all behind (even her newborn) to ride along an unexpected life of fun and turmoil. Got pregnant of her second child, this time a girl, settle down in BDC. Did I mention how lovely she was? Well, doesn’t matter if you’re hungry or not, she’ll give you tons of food; doesn’t matter if you are tired or not, she’ll offer you a place to rest; she’ll look after you like if you were the king of a fairy tale, as though you’d come from her most painful side of her heart, ‘cause she’s hurt and she needs to heal. She needs to heal and everybody knows it; dunno if it is some kind of remorse or an introspection for peace after all she’s dealt with. After all she’s missed.
So I get to BDC in the way I love: two backpacks, dough, old jeans and a black leather jacket, last one’s almost mandatory to be worn: it’s the first I bought. As for the content of my BPs, there's space for clothes, books, a laptop, some pens, Jet’s Natural Album stickers, headphones, a pair of yellow paged notebooks, random magazines to kill time and some coins for coffee.
A photo posted by Víctor Andrés Zaraza Méndez (@lechedeculebra) on Jan 12, 2017 at 1:51am PST
Once you get off the bus, before daybreak, a warm toxic welcome from BDC hits me in the face as though her sweet words whispered in my ears that she’s forgotten me, that more fellas from nowhere came to take my place, that it’s time for me to despair, that there will be no way out of this shit hole without handing out a good stack of big fives to pay for your release, despite your free of seeing as believing that lifetime’s not going to be as cold as hell.
Alright then, BDC, here’s the snake you forgot to decapitate. Please, don’t try to step a food on me, I still got some punchlines to smash your face with my bleeding fists of ink. Actually, guess I’m just going to poke you one eye out, that’ll make the day, know why? Bunch of masks Prick City wears, it’s fairer if she realizes how vulnerable she really is, for she’s been blind for a long, long,  long time.
First place to visit after my arrival: a Gas Station. I love this places, they’re always open, full of food and drinks, people go there in their so beloved rides, some pedestrians - like me - get there their smokes and something to chew... best part is the people in charge: they can be more screwed than you will ever imagine but that’s not sufficient to feel sorry ‘bout them: they’re on the pinnacle of the system. They fuel up both people and cars, regardless. Bring cash or plastic and you will be able to carry on with your busy day ahead: daytime or nighttime, there’s always something to do.
Counted the coins. Asked for a coffee. A croissant that tastes worse than a rubber duck, eases off the tick-tack-hole in the stomach roar. Then, a call comes in; Mom wants to know if I’m okay. “Sure”, I answer. I’m on my ass but nothing’s wrong since I’m on my second coming to BDC. “Are you going to stay at Rhys’?” Hell no, I think. “He used to be nice with you last year, you should ask him again if you can crash at his flat, at least for a week or so”. I’m a proud boy. I tell her that I will ask him if I can take a shower and start to roll on my get-a-room-for-rent quest.
Mom’s right. Rhys used to be mellow but he ain’t cool anymore. I look at him as an older brotha but that’s what older brothas do: they fuck you up whenever they want. Can’t blame him. He married the right person with the wrong belief: hipocrisy and shamelessness ain’t good companions, especially when silence’s a fake way to keep things up. Yeah, Rhys used to be cool but he’s tired of being the host of broke ass fellas that remind him how tough he was for getting outta the pit with his own hands. I might be twisting the story but something’s for sure: Rhys used to be cool but he doesn’t care ‘bout living happy anymore, he lashes out against his kid mercilessly, making his boy’s face look a good reason for parenting with iron hand, but money’s all what’s about this road he took off when hope was his only brunch. An iron hand and an unwarranted indulgent hand, both belong to Rhys, the man that knows it all, the man that after teardrops fall, thinks to understand what being a good father means, pleasing his kid at any cost with no regrets at all, even if it goes against the weight of his dismissive words.
Aunt Sassy doesn’t like that shit, but doen’t dare to tame him down. Rhys doesn’t learned to hate, he was taught to put it all behind. That’s why he isn’t cool anymore. He’s a good guy but his beliefs are wrong. I call him and he nods at my request. I take a shower and leave. I thank him: he’s okay. That thursday, I’m grateful for being back at BDC to carry on. That thursday, I looked for many places I didn’t know existed; that thursday I found out we are a lotta people on the same race. That thursday, I sickened again.
