Dan Hiroki X GN!Childhood Friend Reader
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, there was a Kirin who came to earth and fell in love with a human. The deity knew that if he acted upon his feelings, he would surely die, for humans always destroyed everything they touched, so he watched from afar. The other Yōkai begged him to leave the mortal alone, but the Kirin refused. Months turned into years as he watched, yearned, and adored until he couldn't anymore. When the human died, the spirit felt himself withering away from heartbreak and curled up on the mortal's grave. As he faded into dust, the Kirin realized that all his years of watching had been wasted since, in the end, the human still destroyed him. And like a dream, he disappeared right after being awakened, leaving nothing but bones behind.

You grew up south of Tokyo. A beach village named Blest where tsunamis tried to drown the residents once every decade. A place filled with tiny stone houses, crumbling temples, and giant windmills with rotor blades like dragons' teeth, gnawing away at the occasional gale.
Your parents used to tell you that a Kirin, during the Heian period, visited the town and fell in love with a human, only to die. Before it faded into nothing, the spirit gave a single blessing to the lover's family: "the loneliest child of each generation shall find the other end of their red thread of fate and meet their true love." You had scoffed and reasoned they were just trying to make you feel better about living in the middle of nowhere.
You had a childhood friend once upon a time. A young boy named Dan Hiroki visited his grandparents during the summers. He was a blur of drained colour, save for his lips and red sneakers.
When you first met, he had claimed to be the recantation of Shuten-dōji, and that's why he had no friends; you had asked, "who am I then?" He responded, "You were Minamoto no Yorimitsu, of course!" Sometimes, you believed him.
The two of you would spend your days searching for the Hibagon and Kodama in the nearby forest that smelled of paprika. Or, when the clouds covered the sun and made the day look like night, travelled down to the beach, hoping to find Ningyo and Akugyo.
However, as Dan said, the other children in the village found him strange. They would point and claim he attracted evil spirits and commanded an Enenra.
Summer after summer, they would assert something was amiss with him. One year after coming home from playing in the ocean, covered in seaweed and sand, a rumour persisted that he turned you into an Akaname. Another, when a new bridge was built, he made a Hashihime curse everyone in town after it rained for a week straight.
Yet, the story that would never die was how Dan was Shuten-dōji and that you were destined to kill one another. They said his unnatural eyes gave his true identity away. Only a Yōkai could see without a soul. You always tried to defend him; Dan was sweet, caring, and... yes, he was strange, but so were you. As they said, dumplings rather than flowers. Especially when it comes to friendship.
Every year, without fail, when he was meant to leave on the day before August ended, he would take your hand into his and ask, "Y/N, wait for me next summer?" And because you were a child, you would agree every time. He then would smile enigmatically and say, "I am you, and you are me. They won't be able to separate us. We will always be together. I promise." You would then wave goodbye and return to your daily life.
When you were ten, your parents, for fun, had decided to rent the American movie The Exorcist. Dan had remained captivated by the film, hardly speaking a word until the end. He had then turned to you and said, "that's what we should do when we grow up."
"Commit suicide?" You had joked
"What!? No!" He playfully shoved you, "rid the world of evil."
"You want to be an exorcist?"
"That would mean I would have to leave you, so no. Never."
Later, under a large buna tree, you had told him the story of Kusanagi, a sword which lay curled up in the scales of an eight-headed serpent named Yamata no Orochi, who, like Pazuzu, also attacked a young girl. The great god Susanoo defeated him by chopping off each head after tricking the monster. The weapon was then given to the emperor, who passed it down for many generations until the serpent returned and kidnapped the newly appointed boy-king. Some say the empire was able to obtain the blade again after a priest cast a powerful spell upon the dragon. However, others say it lays in the hands of the proper emperor, still waiting to be uncovered in a kingdom beneath the sea.
"The sword, if ever found, can turn dragons into men and itself into a giant beast. Don't you see Dan, it can cast out all sin from this world."
Entwining your pinkies, you promised to find that sword one day. No more bullying, oppression, or crime. As friends, you would pack your bags, travel the world, master astrology, and defeat all evil that stood in your way.
Despite your closeness, you were not blind. You knew very well Dan didn't get along with others.
During your 7th summer together, you introduced him to a friend of yours, a classmate named Kikue. All was well until you ran home to fetch popsicles and returned to Dan standing blankly over the crying girl, who had mysteriously broken her arm. When asked, she claimed to have fallen out of a tire swing, but you knew it was him. You couldn't bring yourself to tell, and Kikue was too scared. She had avoided you after that.
You would ask him why he did it a month later, and Dan only gave the muttered response, "she wasn't you."
Time passed until your 13th summer together when you had turned sixteen. Having gone through puberty, the village children suddenly decided they liked Dan.
He had come back taller, handsome, and more charming. Gone were the days of his dead-fish-eyed stare and, instead, a Tennin stood in his place, which you couldn't help but blush at.
You had frozen at that moment, and like a faint light breaking away, you felt the Dan Hiroki you once knew, the strange but loveable child, fading from you. Thinking about the end of the summer, you guessed this would be the last beautiful goodbye before moving on with your lives.
He would forget about you. You could see it in how popular he had become. Yet you pretend everything was fine as he greeted his new admires. You pretended everything was fine when he hugged you, and you felt a dozen eyes glaring in jealousy. Because everything was fine. Why wouldn't it be? You were never Minamoto no Yorimitsu, and he wasn't Shuten-dōji. Who wanted to cut off the head of their best friend anyway?
A week after his arrival, a couple of the local high school students decided to throw a party by the beach to celebrate the end of the school year. The location would be up where the trees grew thick and made way to a clearing that gave a view of the salty waters. Of course, they had invited Dan to come along, but he had said he was too busy hanging out with you. One particular girl, Reo, did not take this well and demanded you convince him to come or she would make your school life hell.
Knowing she was serious, you told dan it would be "a fun field trip" for the two of you, like "the old times when we were kids, one last hurrah, you know?"
He looked at you incredulously, then an emotion you couldn't identify quickly fluttered across his face like the opening of a fan, only to settle back onto his sleepy smile.
"Sure, if it will make you happy."
You hadn't actually planned to go. Instead, you had decided to watch The Exorcist. Everyone would be happier that way, you had thought. Dan would show up, realize how much fun it was to have a Fanclub, and forget you were gone. But on the night of the party, you saw him at your window, tapping on the glass with big sad eyes and asking if you were ready to go. So you went. How could you say no to Dan?
As you walked toward the campfire, which lit up the night sky, you couldn't help but feel like he was acting strange. Dan seemed fidgety, his eye twitching occasionally, and his fingers couldn't decide whether they wanted to tap against his legs or fold behind his back. After a while, you grabbed his hand, as he would often do when you were kids, and kept him steady.
"Calm down. I know you're nervous, but it's not like anyones gonna die. It's just a party." You laughed, but he wouldn't let go when you tried to pull back.
"I'll be your left if you'll be my right," he winked. You rolled your eyes and let him lead you up to the cliffside.
The fire pit was surrounded by your homeroom, surprisingly including Kikue, who had grown pretty with age. And, of course, someone had brought a guitar to encourage everyone to sing random off-key hits from the radio.
It only took an hour for most of the kids to be tipsy, having snuck Sake out of their parent's homes. You had taken a few sips as well, but Dan remained dry.
Reo had stared at Dan throughout most of the night. Much to your displeasure, she had even shoved herself between the two of you, laying against his shoulder. Dan had looked surprised, but you just laughed, subtly telling him to let it go.
"Why do you hang out with someone like Y/N, Dan-Chan? I mean, no offence, but you’ve moved up in life.” You heard her whisper. Dan simply smiled, and you looked away. She titled her head coyly, fawning at him through her lashes, "did you ever hear the legend about the Kirin?" Her nails tapped against his forearm, "I'm starting to believe it's true." You tried not to look over at the two of them, but you couldn't help but feel a pair of eyes bore into you.
It was okay, you reminded yourself. You pretend to laugh at something Kikue had said; the eyes seemed to bear down harder.
When everyone was halfway through a garbled Kenshi Yonezu song, Reo had abruptly declared, "I wanna dance, like one those Oklahoma hoedown mixer-thingies they do in America or whatever," she stood and raised a bottle, "everyone, grab a partner! Dan-!"
You felt someone tab your shoulder, "Y/N promised me a dance." He blushed and brought a hand up to his face, "Oh, I'm sorry for being so rude," he squeezed the back of your neck playfully, "But there are more guys than girls here, and Reo, you seem so popular. I doubt you want to dance with Y/N anyway, and I wouldn't want to intrude."
You didn't know Reo could possess so much hatred, but from her acidic glare, you decided not to cross her in the future. The guitar started again with some country song you didn't recognize, and Dan pulled you into a dance.
The laughing and singing became nothing more than white noise as you looked into his grey eyes. You asked, "Hey, Dan? Do you still believe your Shuten-dōji?"
"Only if you promise to always be my Minamoto no Yorimitsu."
You didn't respond at first. You decided to answer, "How about I be your Kirin instead?"
Dan looked taken aback, so you quickly clarified, "Like the legend, I'll give you a gift. Didn't I tell you I wanted to become an archaeologist?" You smirked at his surprise and gave a flamboyant spin, "I'm going to find that sword, you know. Don't think I forgot about it. "
"You can't." He abruptly held you still, hands digging into your arms, his eyes wild, reflecting the fire.
You tried to shrug him off, "What?! Why not?"
"Because that would mean you're going to leave. You promised you would never leave me." He seemed to hyperventilate slightly.
You leaned forward, took a deep breath, inhaled the smoke, and placed your forehead against Dan's shoulder. You closed your eyes and swallowed, "We were kids. Kids say stuff they don't mean all the time. We would have to move on eventually anyway."
You couldn't see Dan's expression, but you felt him tense up. "I don't like Reo. I rather die than have you leave me."
"Dan-"
"I can prove it." He mumbled to himself more than you. "I'll prove it."
"Look, I'm going to dance with Kikue." You stepped back and brushed him off. You looked up and noticed Reo watching you like a hawk, and grinning the best you could, you decided to wave her over. "I think someone is waiting for you." Hair covered his eyes as he remained stock-still, arms hanging limply by his side.
"I will prove it." you thought you heard as you walked away.
Three hours passed, and the fire had died down quite a bit, although still blazing. You hadn't been able to spot Dan after your conversation and reasoned he had either hit it off with Reo or gone home. The rest of your class mainly had passed out. You had remained awake for a while talking with Kikue. It was nice to have someone you once were close with want to speak to you again. But eventually, the night became too much, and the two of you fell asleep against one another.
When you woke up, you felt groggy at first. You tried to move your arms but realized you couldn't. Suddenly panicking, you awoke fully with a jolt. You blinked to clear your eyes. It was...the woods? Wiggling, you looked around and felt rope around your wrists tying you to a tree. You peeked at where you had been pinned to see the branches of your childhood buna. It was still night, and darkness fogged your vision, but you could tell it was the same rope you used once to make swings.
"Y/N?" Kikue whimpered from the other side of the tree, pinned as well.
"I'm awake. You okay? What the actual hell happened?"
"I don't know! Fuck, we're gonna die. We are totally going to die. This is why I didn't want to talk to you….Fuck, I don't want to-"
You suddenly heard movement, and the forest went completely quiet. You whispered, "Kikue pretend to be still passed out."
The footsteps grew closer and louder until they stopped right in front of you. You felt a body lean forward, and air tickled your cheek, "I know you're awake, Y/N."
"Dan?! What-I-Why am I-I mean we-tied up!?" His beautiful face nosed along your jaw, his torso pined against your own.
"I told you I would prove it," his lips pressed against your ear, "and unlike you, I always keep my promises." You gapped for a couple of seconds, lost for words. Dan kissed your cheek. "Look up."
You slowly gazed upwards and started to shake violently. There, up on a branch above your head, hung the shoeless lifeless body of Reo. The exact same place you had once placed a swing. Her neck was bent at an awkward angle, and her once lovely pink lips opened in a silent scream that was never heard. In a fit of madness, you had thought you had seen an Onryō.
Before you could scream, Dan placed a hand over your mouth. "I told you I didn't like her. See? She's gone." He smiled. "There's only one more problem to get rid of now, and then we can be happy again. We belong to each other, and you know what they say?" He let go of your mouth, a long trail of spit connecting the two of you, as you merely stared back at him in shock. Dan licked his hand. "Three's a crowd."
"Wait! Wait! Dan-just stop for a second. Please!" He didn't seem to hear you as he stood up.
"You see, Y/N. It wasn't me who Reo liked; it was Kikue." He spoke louder, so the named girl could also hear. "She asked to meet her by the buna tree after we all fell asleep, and there she confessed her love!" he sighed dramatically; you thought you heard vomiting. "But it seems Kikue didn't share such feelings, and in a rage, Reo murdered her and then killed herself. Shocking but riveting! It reminds me of that one show...Aha, evil against evil."
"Dan. You can't be serious?!" You yelled over Kikue's wailing.
"You know what's even worse, Y/N? They couldn't even find Kikue's body because Reo threw it into the sea out of shame. I do hate sad endings, but sometimes it can't be helped. At least they can be together in the afterlife." Dan gave a half-hearted shrug and dusted off his pants.
You started to cry. Not because of what was going to happen. You cried because when he walked around the tree to Kikue, you couldn't help but think how beautiful he was. Like an angel. Like a devil. Like the grim reaper. Your Shuten-dōji.
The screaming continued, then whimpering and finally gurgling up until a loud crack and silence.
"Close your eyes." And you did.
Ten minutes later, Dan returned, Kikue now buried in her watery grave with the Ningyo and Akugyo. You opened your eyes, and he looked perfectly put together. He untied your hands, and you rested numbly. He sat next to you, reached up, and pushed the dangling Reo's feet. "At least your hanging in there."
"Why did you do all of that?" You asked in a scratchy voice.
Dan took your face into his hands and kissed you. You felt the thread of fate being tugged.
After a minute, he pulled back, and you really looked at him for the first time tonight. He was a blur of drained colours, save for his lips and red beneath his fingernails.
He placed his forehead against yours. "I am you, and you are me. They won't be able to separate us. We will always be together. I promise." He kissed you again. "Please don't cut off my head Minamoto no Yorimitsu."
"I can't promise that."
"I know."
Dan walked you home. They didn't find Reo until three days later and never discovered Kikue. The police interviewed you. You lied, and Dan left soon after because his parents were worried.
You stood there with his grandparents, and Dan took your hand into his and asked, "Y/N, wait for me next summer?" He kissed your fingers, "because you see, next summer we won't have to wait until June to be together anymore." You agreed.
You told your parents that after Reo's death, you couldn't stay in the village anymore, and a relative arranged to let you live with them. Far away from the Blest. Far away from Dan. You felt your heart grow cold and cracked. Your parents agreed, you packed your things and left. They asked what they should tell him. You said to say you died in a terrible accident.
"Do you love me?" The memory of him whispered to you as you looked back upon the hidden village. A place filled with tiny stone houses, crumbling temples, and giant windmills with rotor blades like dragons' teeth, gnawing away at the occasional gale.
"Yes."
"Then, promise not to cut off my head if you see me again?"
"Goodbye Dan."
You wished the Kirin had never visited Blest.

Could you do an analysis of the TBHK theme song. The lyrics seem like it’s Tsukasa talking to Hanako.
No. 7? Well, I'll say that... I don't know how much we can analyze anything made by anyone other than AidaIro themselves. Many anime explicitly don't follow the story beats of the manga as they progress, as they can't spoil the manga's story, and must develop separately. I'm not sure, case by case, what a crew is given to work with. For manga like FMA or Black Butler, the anime (FMA's 2003 anime) becomes completely and utterly different, and couldn't lampshade later arcs or even central themes for major characters. Nothing about those anime would really help you understand the manga, because the writing teams are different.
even when looking at the manga, one can't scrutinize a piece of dialogue without looking at the original japanese iro-sensei themselves wrote, where implications could be different.
While we do know AidaIro typically are very involved with things like cafe events and the anime's casting, I just don't know how much a hand they'd have in something like the lyrics to the opening song ... or what that artist was given/told by the staff? The lyricist is ANCHOR (Hiroki Suzuki) , who just does lyrics and/or compositions for many unrelated productions, as you'd expect. I don't know how ANCHOR works. I'm not really qualified to look into their production, though they seem to have an instagram.... not much there though.
NOW, I will say, the musical rendition of JSHK did a lot of atmospheric and loaded things (mostly in its choreo and staging) which felt backed-up by the later manga, outside of what the play was presenting. So, that at least made me wonder if Iro-sensei discusses things like general themes, Tsukasa's role, etc.... without maybe discussing incredibly specific story beats? I'd believe that Iro-sensei's writing is rich in themes and a very core direction that could be conveyed to the team, given to work around.
The lyrics of the anime are loaded with appropriate meaning that has only become more valid in the continued context, and also make me personally feel insane about my own theories, because it kind of supports them. But why or how? I have no idea. *cries*
I think you're right that it sounds like Tsukasa's perspective. Urging for a different outcome, to try again, change fate, or perhaps let it all happen just the same, all over again-- a want to see how this story could end, beckoning and pulling. Observing the repetition of suffering. I particularly like ah... "no scythe for grass that doesn't grow" which is a fun spin on the typical "the nail that sticks out is hammered down". Very Hanako's original philosophy, isn't it? Sticking to the laws and confines in which he is trapped.
Now, I personally am distracted that the cut opening talks about 'Seven faults, incomplete' (makes sense-- the 7 mysteries are all merely kaii blessed with one piece of a central God, whom power is returning to-- an incomplete entity)-- but the FULL song starts singing about "the eighth" and begins saying "eight faults, incomplete" ...
Most of the mysteries names contain a reference to their number, and suspiciously, Yashiro's name also has a number tucked into it, eight 八.
But why of all things would so much emphasis on 'eight' be in the ANIME OP??????????????????????? WE'RE 100 CHAPTERS IN AND WE HAVEN'T TOUCHED ON 'EIGHTH'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel crazy enough, referring to Nene-chan as a possible 8th mystery-- containing another fragment of the God, blessed somehow, bestowed power, by-- what-- Tsukasa????? How when??? But, I do think something is true! I do think she's tied innately to the mysteries! If you destroy them all, you'll destroy her! She's clearly a human who couldn't be alive without the mysteries! Could Tsukasa, the well God, be why Nene-chan is alive at all?
I would personally love to see somebody fluent in Japanese do a nice in-depth paroozal of the lyrics! I really don't feel I can. I can barely scratch the surface. There is a lot of poetry and symbolism in things like song lyrics which can be very difficult to ground.... I wouldn't be able to identify anything.
.... and as I said... I wouldn't know how much meaning to take from it.
for now it only makes me feel slightly insane
I'm sorry for the post's low quality

Asumi Rio's Atelier Season 2 Cover Interview 🎙️
Tumblr media
(translation on 10/25/22)
Note: Lol double post today. This was not planned but this interview just came out, it was short, and I'm literally obsessed with her and these photos so.
This is an interview on Asumi's new season of her Hulu original show Asumi Rio's Atelier, which had its first season in , which will drop its first to episodes on Japanese Hulu on November 24th, then release new episodes every Saturday, for a total of 8 episodes.
Interview below the cut
In Asumi Rio’s Atelier’s previous season, Asumi Rio learned many ways of enriching her adult alone time. In Season 2, she is leaving the atelier and embarking on a trip.
―What was it like when it was decided there would be a season 2?
Asumi: I was incredibly happy. Season 1 was always inside the atelier, so I would joke around saying that my big dream was, “Season 2 in Hawaii” (laughs). This time we’re taking one step forward from the title and going on a trip, so I’m looking forward to being able to see different scenery than there was in the previous season.
―Your destination is Okinawa and Shizuoka, could you tell us some highlights of them?
Asumi: For Okinawa, experiencing folk songs, Ryukyu glasses, eisa, and Okinawa’s unique culture. The scenery is beautiful, so I’m hoping the viewers are able to experience the feeling of really going to Okinawa. As for Shizuoka, I went to the restaurant I always loved before entering Takarazuka, as well as the ballet school attended. I lived in Shizuoka all the way until I graduated middle school, but at the time I was limited to the general area where I lived, so I went to a wasabi farm and a piano factory for the first time. Then I did glamping, which was something I have always wanted to try. There’s an amazing glamping spot where you can see Mount Fuji, I also discovered that places like this are actually recently built.
―It also seems like you were able to once again meet your former ballet teachers. What was it like?
Asumi: It was so heartwarming, more than I ever could have imagined. Remembering all those times from when I was young was just so heartwarming that the tears just naturally came out. During the time I was in Shizuoka, I was holding my family close to me, doing the things I enjoyed commuting to school. Ever since I was a kid I’ve been blessed by those around me, it was the first for me in life, to be able to remember these times and experience such utter happiness, all thanks to being able to spend such an amazing time with my ballet teachers.
―Lastly, please give a message to the Sakura Saku Life readers.
Asumi: There is a super close friend of mine, my classmate from Takarazuka, Nanami Hiroki. When I had just entered Takarazuka Music School, the natto that she gave me from her hometown Mito was so delicious, I was so surprised. One day I always wanted to go to the actual place and eat this natto. So if you happen to find me in town please think, “Hey, that’s the person that appeared in this magazine!” (laughs).

I've been thinking about the Sawamuras for quite some time, now. It's said Daichi is the oldest of 5 and everything about him makes me sure he gets it worse at home than at the volleyball club. Hinata and Nishinoya? A fresh breeze to his head!
I have quite a lot of content on them and how they interact but let me quickly brush a few things over for you all:
Ayame has all the perception Daichi lacks and loves to use these small infos she collects to make fun of all her siblings (sometimes to use it against them as well but she likes to see herself as making business). She is also the best of them all to understand feelings and more often than not ends up being the house counsellor, her own way to help taking care of the family as the oldest sister. Lives by her motto of Not My Problem (TM) and can be easily judged as lazy for that, but she is really caring and hardworking behind the cortines.
The older twin, Daiki (his name 大輝 can also be read as "Hiroki", which their siblings sometimes call him to avoid confusion calling for "Dai"), is famed for not shutting up and being very good with people. He loves being the life of the party and is getting very good at socializing and building his own online profile. He's also very good at getting in trouble although most of the time his high charisma will let him get away with it, leaving an exasperated Daichi behind!
Younger twin Naoki is constantly suffering over the intense Sawamura Stamina (TM) he was the only one not blessed with. Everyone in his house is just too much, a lot of noise and energy, the boy just wants to be alone reading some manga or book (too bad he shares the bedroom with Daiki). Fan of a slow appreciative life, can spend a lot of time watching bugs and wild animals, is the reason why Daichi knows so much about fish. An excellent observer and a trivia enthusiast. Not the shy kind, just not a sweating fan.
The Sawamura princess hates to be treated as princess. No, really. Fuyumi has that overconfidence of someone who loves to buy a fight. To Daichi's dismay she usually has a good reason to do so (she's protecting a dog or saving some classmate from being bullied), but her confronting spirit isn't well seen by her victims. Is starting to see Daichi as her nemesis as he is the perfect boy (the "prince") she was also supposed to be. Energetic troublemaker, can usually be found climbing trees, houses or anything she sees as a challenge, always ending up with neon coloured band aids to cover the evidences of her adventures!
Keep tuned for more Sawamura Family adventures! Yes, there will be more ♥

I think one of the greatest things that could ever happen to me just happened, and I'm a lil emotional about it, idek where to start
First of all, its the simple things. I have a voice actor hobby for sure. It never went away. I didn't watch anime for 6-7 years and then coming back, my VA obsession returned immediately. I was like "JUST WATCH THINGS WITHOUT ANALYSING THEIR VOICES FOR FUCKS SAKE" but it didn't happen, it couldn't happen
Aside from rewatches, Banana Fish was a brilliant (sort of) return to anime for me. I got real excited about the amount of boxes it ticked
But I may have found something better
I randomly, and I mean randomly stumbled across this anime
Tumblr media
I haven't even read the plot. Idk what its about at all. But a few things caught my eye.
So I've made a couple of posts about Kenjiro Tsuda, the voice of Kaiba, and how his popularity absolutely shot up out of the damn sky and into space thanks to Jujutsu Kaisen. Now he gets roles after roles and is in the top 10 VA's. And it made me really happy cause he's been around for so long and deserves it.
However, Hiroki Takahashi, the voice of Joey, has not had the same luck. He doesn't get many roles, and when he does, they're in... not that great animes. I would know. I watched them for him. It made me sad.
So to ever imagine an anime that they are both present in aside from YGO seemed so far, far off into the distance, esp seeing as they both only got (mostly) shit roles. And now Kenjiro is doing graaaand so its just Hiroki.
Like I said, I stumbled across this anime randomly. First button it hits
Its a BL.
Brilliant. If anyone is under the impression there are a lot of BL's/Yaoi's/Shounen-ais, then you're clueless. There's a massive shortage of gay romance in general, but in anime, its about 1% of existing anime. Lower actually.
Again, I haven't looked at the plot yet, I just like to see who the romantic leads are. First name I spot, Ono Yuuki, the voice of a big fave of mine. My man here
Tumblr media
And who is he paired with? Oh... ohoho... no other than my main man of all main mans
Tumblr media
And I've made a lot of posts about hearing Joey's voice in things, but 99% of the time I'm talking about the voice actor for season 0 Joey. He's way more famous and gets a lot of roles. The last thing I heard DM Joey in was a dumb anime called Endride in 2016.
So yeah, I'm happy to see him in a modern, leading role in general, but the fact that its a GAY modern leading role is why its extra important.
And they are both two big faves of mine. Rocchi x Joey. I so dig it.
And then what I didn't expect was, just casually over on the right, was my other dudes name

Tsuda Kenjurou
Fucking. Kaiba.
DM Kaiba and DM Joey. In the same anime.
Didn't even think that was possible????
Like wishful thinking is them both having the leading roles but NEVER. I COULD NEVER. Imagine that happening.
Having them in the same anime is enough for me.
BUT A GAY ANIME????????
I HOPE I GET TO SEE THEM INTERACT IN THE GAY ANIME. Even if he looks like some weird blue haired man. IDC.
Like I haven't read anything about this damn thing. Its just impressions. Joey is the dark haired one being teased by the blond? Uh, yeah. I accept. Kaiba's voice is in there somewhere? YEAH, sign me UP.
Also, I spot Uchida Yuuma there as well who played the lead blondie in Banana Fish. Honestly, its Joey reunited with his son.
I was tortured for years with bad animes. Only good animes from now on. Only good things. I'm not accepting anything else.
I am blessed.
And now I have to actually read the plot lmao

Wednesday: Work, Visvim: The urge to splurge, a friend returned - 07/06/23
Again, a banger day. Dexa now has a wallet connectivity function, which means that when you purchase a ticket on chain, you have to login with your crypto wallet like Metamask, Coinbase Wallet etc. So now, if you go to dexa and select an upcoming event which is Blockmeet’s Chandigarh Web3 Meetup 2, you’ll be able to login via your wallet and then mint a ticket. This event is free.  After that I worked on the data structure for the AI Therapist and went deep into lexical structures, expressions and operators and arrays. Then had a meeting with another prospective client for my hedge fund and I think he’s gonna sign up for it. He’ll call me tomorrow with his fund allocation structures and we’re good to go. Mom made delicious Idli Sambhar, a lip smacking South Indian dish that the whole India loves, so I had brunch today. Then worked on the financial model of Vertex Pharmaceuticals (VRTX), analysis pending. Then in the evening, one of my friend who was in the rehab for 6 months called me up that he has just arrived at the Mohali Railway Station and I went to see him. But, I don’t think he has gotten over it, but as a friend I want to help him and listened to him, what he had to say. He called 2 more friends of his, whom I knew too, but I didn’t like it. He is again mixing with the wrong crowd. But as I work closely with people who want to come clean, my priority is to counsel them on it. The ultimate decision is always made by them only, I did my best now let’s see. I am not gonna meet him again, but help him over the phone simply because if I don’t get an assured vibe from a person’s circumstances, I avoid now. My life is a lovely sail at the moment and I really don’t want to spoil it. I have major responsibilities on my head, and I am not gonna risk them for anything. He was a close friend of mine, and as a friendly and brotherly gesture, I played my role today but if a person doesn’t want to change, but he did promise he won’t repeat the same old mistakes, I simply withdraw. I’ll stay in touch but I am not gonna play with fire anymore. I counsel a lot of people even from NA (Narcotics Anonymous) at their online meetups. I want all the troubled souls to get rid of addictions and lead a better life with their best potential.
Tumblr media
Coming to my urge to splurge, I spent near about Rs 79,321.00 today. I always wanted to wear Visvim, which a designer Japanese-American streetwear brand by Hiroki Nakamura. My love for Visvim goes back to all the way back in 2020, when I first found that John Mayer is a Visvim geek. He also wears brands like Fear of God, Acronym and Kapital. He is an inspiration and role model to me, and since I found out about his fashion (And I am gonna link his GQ article below, where I found about his fashion) I promised myself that one day I will wear this brand. When I checked their products in 2020, I didn’t knew they were so expensive. But if I want something I’ll have it. This trait comes as a blessing and a curse to me. And now, when I have started to make some serious money, my CA allowed me that I can shop upto Rs. 1Lakh for now, hence I ended up buying another pair of Visvim Gray FKT Sneakers and a couple of jeans, shirts and T-shirts and accessories, totaling upto the amount I have mentioned above. So this was my birthday present to myself. A couple of says ago I also bought my first pair of Visvim Mom-Hi Folk Boot from an eBay auction that I won for $283.00. Soon, I am going to attack on Acronym and Fear of god. What I always wanted to wear, now I can and it definitely makes me happy. No show off, nothing just happy for myself that I can now fulfill my desires. In the myntra lot  have also ordered a shirt for my dad and a kurti for my mum. They’ve done a lot for me, and my plan is to constantly spoil them with presents all the time.  Back home, had dinner and now wrapping up some work related to my hedge fund (listening to lectures and market updates) and a lil bit of stuff on the programming end. That’s all for the day, gratitude! Tomorrow evening I have my therapy session and I am wholeheartedly looking forward to it. Seee yaaa! what’s up @cyberpunkboytoy tagged me to do the following:
list 5 songs youve been listening to lately. adding the links so people interested can check them out (ノ´ヮ`)ノ*: ・゚
sadly I haven’t really been listening to a whole lot that isn’t UtaPri or DMMd-related lately but sure I’ll do the thing!
First up I have to link this particular animatic video someone made for Takahashi Hiroki’s “Blessings”
youtube
This is a really lovely animatic that I stumbled on one day and immediately lost my mind. It’s sung by Koujaku’s seiyuu, and the translated lyrics are on CC. It’s so sweet and well-done and suits them perfectly and I’m bawling again.
youtube
“Angel”, by VERTUEUX, the song for Mink and Aoba from the drama CD. The final round of songs for all the LIs appeared on the Engage+ment CD, so they’re basically the best ending love songs as I see it. And while I love Scarlet (a lot, as the more perceptive may have noticed), Angel has been coming up a lot on shuffle lately, so I have to include it. I love the singer’s raspy, powerful voice and the way he delivers the lyrics so much.
youtube
Miyano Mamoru is pretty much my favorite solo singer and has been for quite some time now. This is “Encore”, the song he did for the closing credits of the UtaPri theatrical concert film, Maji LOVE Kingdom. In addition to voicing and singing Ichinose Tokiya, he always did the opening songs for the anime as well as for the first couple of VNs. Sadly, we probably won’t be getting any more seasons of the anime, but at least we have more movies to look forward to.
youtube
“Magic” is the video I like to show to people when I want them to see what Mamoru can do live. This is from his EXCITING! live concert tour (he names all his tours with an active gerund - GENERATING, BLAZING, etc.), and they make amazing use of video and effects to really make the performance, well, magic... He’s just an incredible performer and all around entertainer on top of being an amazing singer. And, you know, doing that seiyuu thing.
And I was going to include a fifth song here, but tumblr has apparently decided I’m not allowed to. I’ll just put the link here instead: “The Bathing Suit She Wore”, from Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas, was stuck in my head ALL DAY the other day, which is surely indicative of some kind of mental madness. Maybe the tonal whiplash was just too strong. Anyway, enjoy! (This is a cover version from a tribute show, which is really mind-blowing to me.)
Anyway, thanks for tagging me, Pride! Anyone who feels like it should do this, since I don’t think I even know five people on here anymore.

I finished the first phase of "The Orders of Tyria," the final racial storyline I started previously.
It started with Gwen meeting the squabbling Order representatives—Josir (slightly weird, Durmand Priory), Hiroki (pretty and brusque, Vigil), and Ihan (pretty and mysterious, Order of Whispers).
Apparently, the Order (of Whispers)'s agents are the ones who discovered the undead and informed Queen Jennah, but otherwise it's a bit too direct for their approach, so the only choice is between rescuing the village children in the mere via the Priory's experimental device, or taking Vigil troops in to clear the area.
I feel like Gwen would be more positively inclined towards a former Ebon Vanguard member in the first place, and also, frankly prefers to solve problems through subterfuge or violence than experimentation. So she went with Hiroki.
Upon arriving at the mere, they found that things had gone awry—the Risen were more numerous than expected and inflicted heavy casualties on the Vigil contingent (which presumably only increased their numbers). They're actually pretty easy to kill in this mission, though, so Gwen, Hiroki, and a couple of Vigil soldiers just carved their way through some Risen, and met with the besieged Vigil soldiers' bunker, which was led by a sylvari tactician named Sarrena.
After a brief interchange in which Hiroki reminded a discouraged Sarrena of the Vigil's very cool catchphrase ("we are the light in the darkness"), Hiroki decided to continue the mission anyway. After fighting off three waves of Risen, the whole gang rescued the children in the mere. Sarrena got injured and heroically told Hiroki to leave her behind, but Hiroki reminded her that the Vigil doesn't leave people behind.
The Order of Whispers part of my brain is like, "that could be incredibly unwise in some situations." But anyway, I do like that the mission doubles as a solid introduction to the Vigil, their approach to things, and what they're about.
They entire gang rescued the children and led them back to a sylvari camp easily. Sarrena, rapidly healing under their waters, explained Sylvari 101 to Gwen and encouraged her to join the Vigil since she's such a good soldier. Honestly, the continued references to Gwen being a hardcore soldier are kind of hilarious when she's strolling around a swamp dressed like this:
Tumblr media
Gwen also tried to talk to one of the children, who said something about a scary Seraph hanging out with the Risen, but ran away before I could read the whole thing. Oh, and Hiroki thanked Gwen in her very direct way. I like her!
We get a little bit of Hiroki's backstory. Although she was in the Vanguard, she's actually from Kryta, like Gwen, not from Ebonhawke. She wanted to do good in the world by fighting the charr, then realized there are bigger threats, like gigantic eldritch Elder Dragons, and also that the world is more complex than she thought, with traitorous humans and honorable charr.
At this point, Gwen knows about the traitorous humans from her previous storylines, but I don't think she's yet ready to buy that honorable charr are really a thing. The earlier dialogue with Logan when she talked about empathizing with Almorra is more like "Hmm, I ... see" in my head. Anyway, her canon response to Hiroki's backstory was, "But you don't fight for Kryta any more." However, Hiroki was fighting for Ebonhawke, not Kryta, so this is a little confusing. I imagine Gwen actually said, "But you don't fight for us any more," since she's Ascalonian.
The other conversation fork led into exposition about how the sylvari are mysteriously immune from Zhaitan's corruption and instead just die. Hiroki declared they're a blessing and that she thinks they were created by the goddess Melandru to help Tyria (I haven't played HoT, but have osmosed enough to be "...er" about this).
Gwen headed back to the Salma District to wrap up. The three order representatives, Gwen, and Logan talked a bit about the spreading undead corruption and the children seeing a Seraph with the undead who scared them more than the undead themselves. Logan suspected this guy is a corporal named Kellach who went AWOL.
Hiroki didn't much care and wanted to act to intercept the undead before they attacked a nearby town, while Agent Ihan wanted to investigate this Seraph's deal to find the source of the problem and ultimately save more people even if the town gets destroyed. Gwen is a pragmatic, good-of-the-many sort of person (her best friend got dismembered because she prioritized the welfare of the city over his personal safety), so I figured she'd go with the Order of Whispers.
Time for skulduggery!

ACT I - MONEY, MONEY, MONEY
Ahem-hem— a clearing of the throat reminded the preoccupied crowd that the mascots were, in fact, still there.
“You all really worked your tails off!”
Nyarlecchino started, Melos following close behind with something not quite matching the leopard’s praise.
“It’s… a good thing that we’re preparing your mystery solving abilities… as we’re quite confident that soon you shall have a real murder mystery to solve, hoo.”
“We realized… we got to, um, give you more than just getting out to enclawrage you all! So we’ve got a special pawffer for you!” “Kill somepawdy to win a grand total of 1 million US dollars!”
The assembled parties devolved into chaos.
Those more affluent among them, such as Laszlo, Hiroki, Guanyu, and Urara, believed wholeheartedly that nobody would kill for that; whether they believed this was because it wasn’t enough money or because of their own morals, they staunchly believed that nothing would happen from this.
Those not belonging to the rich and powerful countered this with the fact that it is certainly a life-changing amount of money, and certainly not to be taken lightly; people have killed for much, much less.
Melos cleared their throat once more, hushing the crowd.
“You will need to succeed with murder to get the full prize, of course, but… if you fear being caught will make it all for nought… your family shall be awarded 250,000 dollars… even if you do not survive.”
“So, um, nothing to lose by giving your all at it! Oh, also, like how Meowster Okie doubted it... we knew some of mew might be doubtful that we have that kinda money, so, ummm…”
Nyarlecchino scuffled off stage, returning back with a huge bag that he dumps onto the stage.
“One hundred thousand dollars, right here! You can check all you want, not a single clawnterfeit bill in here!”
“...We will have to pick this up later, you understand…?”
The assembled stared, struck by the visual. A hundred thousand US dollars, unceremoniously dumped on the stage. Once more did they plunge into chaos— including Vesta Rose offering several thousand US dollars herself for Caitlyn Cheng to tackle Sentarou Sekisada. This was executed with Sentarou’s blessing, an absurd moment in an already absurd night.
Still, there were a couple questions, namely from Minny and Celeste: could you change who could get the money? Would the victim, too, have their family compensated?
Nyarlecchino had a quick answer for Minny about choosing who got the money.
"You can have it go to anypawdy you want, after your death! You can choose to give it to charity, or someone else's family, orrrrrrrrrr even somepawdy here! Not like, there's, um, not like there's any guarantee they'll be nyalive for that..."
And to Celeste’s question about whether the unlucky would get the same rewards as their killers, Melos leaned forward, all 6'6 of owl looming.
"Rewards... are for the victors, hoo."
With that chilling note, the mascots dismissed everyone, the night finished already— understandable, as many were unwilling to continue a party after that.
Going to bed that night, many fell asleep, uneasy and uncertain. Would someone really kill for something like money? Would they themselves be willing? Would they be killed themselves?
The answer would come in due time.

A1, 6, 10, 12, B2, C4, 5, 11, 12, D3, E3, 5, F1,9
A) Just your favs:
1. Favorite character(s) JIn Kuwana, Eri Kamataki, Mirei Park, Masaru Watase, Kyohei Hamura, Tsukasa Sagawa
6. Favorite side character(s) Christina & Nick Ogata...have you noticed that Nick looks like a recycled version of Christina?
10. Favorite weapon(s) Big fan of baseball bats and pole arm weapons, don’t come near me I’m fragile LOL
12. Favorite tattoo(s) Watase’s for sure, also really love Mine’s
B) Let’s get Personal
2. What’s a scene that never fails to make you cry? When Watase is pleading with Kurosawa at the top of Kamurocho Hills. I will say though if that sounds goofy it’s not because of what’s being said (while it is heartbreaking, this devout and loyal man being betrayed); it’s that there’s a certain pitch in his voice at makes my face violently buzz and hum that it pushes me to tears lmao, gotta love synesthesia
C) Let’s Be Subjective
4. Which Character would you like to see as a protagonist? JIn Kuwana. I sincerely think with the ending we got that there’s a wealth of potential for him to have his own game and story. I think that he is the best choice to rub shoulders with Ichigang, which would be a lot of fun.
5. Which character would you like to see as an antagonist? I’d like to see Daigo go full Break Stuff Sunday on everyone.
11. Which character has the best taste in clothing? Which one has the worst? Ichiban has the best taste, Sagawa has the worst, I hate that shit sit so much lmaooo. Though I will say I wish RGG wold push the envelope and get more into street fashion; Zhao and Seong Hui is the closest we’ve gotten to anything really unique.
12. Whose voice do you enjoy hearing the most? Jin Kuwana & Tianyou Zhao. Koji Yamamoto has a beautiful pitch and Nobuhiko Okumoto has a flair and range that I love love love hearing.
D) Let’s get Controversial
3. Who’s the most Overpowered Character? Kiryu. I mean I get it and it’s an inevitably as the protagonist some of the shit is just not fucking feasible. God bless for Y7, I finally get to see him lose.
E) This or That
3. Return; Shinada or Tanimura Shinada, I just love him. Granted plot wise Tanimura is the better choice and with snake style being the improved version of his move set he’d be fun to play with, but I’ve got a soft spot for Hiroki and I’d only want Tanimura back if it were him reprising the role - a near impossible feat.
5. Disband: Tojo or Omi? Tojo...we had six game of them being unable to get their shit together lol, love y’all but clearly something is not working
F) Insert Yourself!
1. Who would you buy a drink? A which bar? I would buy Eri a drink at Survive <3
9. What are you most likely to get arrested for? Disturbing the peace. I am very loud when I choose to be

Hiroki Mamoru was a person Bakugou last expected to enter Izuku’s life.
It seemed that after that day he told Izuku to take a swan dive and he'd been avoiding him at all costs. Not that Bakugou would complain, just one more day of not having to face Deku was like a blessing to him.
But what he didn't expect was for Izuku to change all of a sudden.
His backpack filled with hero memorabilia was now thin and lighter than it was before. With a new notebook, he began writing down cooking recipes out of all things. Desserts and sweets are labeled and detailed down to their core on what made them sweet to the naked eye.
Again, the blond chose to ignore the strange career change while he worked himself over to get himself into UA.
The only time he had ever met with Hiroki was when he was invited into the Midoriya household. While his parents talked with auntie, he took the time to explore a bit, see what and what didn't change.
The apartment was the same no less than the few moving furniture here and there. The only shock the teenager got was when he went into Izuku’s room and not one step was taken before he had to step back.
It was completely blank, nearly empty apart from the furniture.
Any mention of All Might was completely erased from the nerd’s room. No posters, no curtains, no figures, no anything. Taking a moment longer to look at it, Izuku didn't even have the All Might plaque with his name on it on the door either.
Izuku then took up the opportunity to explain the situation to his childhood friend, Hiroki being next to him as he gave his explanation.
“I-uh-sold it, I wasn’t going to use them for benefit anymore, it all just seemed like a waste.”
Izuku looked away bashfully, it wasn't until Hiroki placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder to put him at ease.
“They weren't important anyway, besides, it’s your money now, you can do what you want with it. The future is bright the way I see it with what we’re going for!”
Izuku nodded, his blush slightly getting deeper as he held the hand that was on his shoulder. He didn't seem to realize the look Hiroki gave to Bakugou, his eyes glowing an unnatural orange.
It didn't take long before Bakugou felt himself feeling uneasy under the gaze of the other teenager. He made a move to get out of the room but Hiroki was quick to make his move first.
“Hey, I know I’m coming out of nowhere with this, but I just wanted to properly introduce myself.”
He lends out his hand, Bakugou only shaking it when the teenager mutters for him to do so. The action alone was not by consent, the blond only stopping when he got out of the haze.
“I’m Hiroki Mamoru, it’s a pleasure to meet you!”
