Idk if Ao Oni is considered niche? It definitely isn't as popular as it used to be but it essentially shaped modern RPG horror. Idk I just love it more than any normal person ever should. I've played every version of the game, read the mangas and am currently reading the novels, and I've watched both movies just to get as much lore as possible. And the FANGAMES. Amazing.

AO ONI - STRONG BAD EDITION

Because I can't buy RPG Maker XP, I can't make a Homestar Runner mod of Ao Oni. But I did manage to come up with an idea for a Homestar Runner version of Ao Oni. Here are the roles:

Strong Sad - Takes the role of The Ao Oni. Though, he appears to be less hostile than a regular Oni. He refuses to go near the other people, as he knows they've been through enough. He is focused on killing Strong Bad, after the latter pushes the former past his limit by coming up with a rather brutal insult. He is also revealed to be another victim of Coach Z.

Strong Bad - Takes the role of Hiroshi. He plays the role very accurately.

Homestar Runner - Takes the role of Mika, except that he actively tries to kill the Oni (Strong Sad). He still dies, though. But he doesn't become an Oni.

Coach Z - Takes the role of Takeshi, except that instead of commiting "regular Takeshi act that makes him an Oni," he instead goes insane, becoming hostile towards Strong Bad without becoming and Oni.

Bubs - Takes the role of Takuro, except Coach Z kills him by breaking his neck. He still doesn't become an Oni.

Also, in the Homestar Runner mod of Ao Oni, Strong Sad gets killed by Coach Z, leaving Coach Z as the main antagonist for the final third of the story.

Oh, I misspelled "Ao Oni" as "Ano Oni" in the art.

So for a hypothetical Ao Oni mod I would personally do it like this

Tom going "Monsters aren't real" could either mean that he's 100% human in this story or is hiding/in denial about his monster form(the second option is more interesting but is also More Work because then you would have to modify the story and the game further)
