I gave myself a writing challenge and I am fascinated by it

So basically I put the robins in a randomizer to give them a new order/role (because I just...kinda wanted to see what would happen + I like role-reversal AUs) and got results that are giving me a fucking brain blast.

Stephanie, the first sidekick who defines the role

Tim, the sidekick who dies and comes back wrong

Dick, the sidekick who saves Batman from himself

Damian, the sidekick who was never supposed to be a sidekick but would go on to prove everyone wrong

Jason, the youngest sidekick who is still the Kid Wonder

...So this is fucking wild. I've got some ideas and several of these fit perfectly (Dick's role is pretty similar to his one in canon), but some of these are fucking INCREDIBLE to explore (Steph being the first Robin is something I never even considered but tbh I kinda love it).

I probably won't write a fic or anything because tbh I don't like publishing my writing that much, but I might expand this into a full AU and post about it. I might randomize other stuff too (ie, stuff that I cannot change vs stuff that I cannot keep the same) but this fucking rules as a starting point.

Like...his role has not changed much outside of being younger/not the one who defines this #But I still think it'll be good to see how well I know Dick beyond his eldest brother thing (which is my best way of relating to him) #Damian al ghul #damian wayne #oh this is gonna kick ass #Bruce does not want his son to be a sidekick but Damian just kinda forces his way into that role #and everybody doubts him because of his history with the league but he later proves himself more than capable #to the point that he can set out mostly on his own and still thrive #Jason Todd #Jason being the baby of the family is also something I have never thought about but holy shit it could kick ass #I really hope that I don't roll 'Jason must die' or 'Robin 5 must die' on the randomizer. I just kinda want Jason to live this time #But unfortunately I double-screwed him because he's on the 'must happen' wheel twice now. Draco tries so hard not to lose the walls in his mind.

“I never said that.”

“I can see it in your eyes, Malfoy.”

He almost laughs, but there is only the unease in his breath. He seethes instead.

“There’s nothing in my eyes. Do you see images of her anywhere? What the fuck have you been drinking—”

“Arsehole! It’s when you’re with her, you’re happier.”

Draco blinks, then sighs when he looks down at his feet. He knows that. There's no need to tell him that.

Draco smiles, the saddest one he could muster.

I’ve been rewatching House of Anubis bc they put season one on Netflix and I forgot how much I loved this show lmao. Now I’m on a binge-watch and finished season two and now watching season three.

BUT, can I just say I love the ending of season two where Nina finds out Eddie is the Osirian. The way she’s going after the real mask and Eddie has the gem stone and is hearing the voices to find Nina. How he tells Patricia that he needs to find the chosen one and that Nina needs him and instantly he left to go find her. Bc as Nina found out from Victors father, the Osirian is meant to protect the chosen one, to help balance out the world together. Then he finds Nina and he has the gem and she realizes who Eddie is and then she goes to take the gem and Eddie closes his hand. The way he tells her to “think about what she’s doing.” He didn’t even hesitate to protect her, bc he knew deep down that the whole situation was going to get ugly. Of course Nina took it anyways bc as we know she’s stubborn but idk I love when Eddie figures out his role finally.

I feel like too much of Munkustrap's personality in fandom gets boiled down to kitten wrangler and dad (a lot like a certain other group of cats I know very well), and that does him a disservice as a character. Not only as a whole because it side steps a lot of other characteristics implied by his six words over the years and flattens him out, but also in a performance sense, because Munk performers who decide *not* to play up this element of his character as much, and perhaps play him sterner or focus on other areas, get some undeserved flack when there is nothing really *wrong* with what they're doing. It's just different.

#I feel like we often overlook that Munk is a showman (energetic) #which means he can be big and bold and silly when he deems it the right time to be #(on his terms) #but then can turn right around and be serious (perhaps even overtly so if we take words like imposing and discipline into account) #or just as disapproving/critical/judge-y as the other cats are (the Grizabella situation) #just as much as he can be a protector and a generally comforting presence #i feel like a lot of flaws assigned to him are what i'll call ' #'not flaw' flaws #He has been described by past performers as being capable of tough love #or being generally displeased with his role of having to be in charge #or overtly stressed with attempting to keep everyone in line but then having the further stress of realization #that maybe no one really *likes* him so much as respects him #or being overtly pressured into feeling like he has to be something he's not #and these are all completely valid readings of his character that i feel shouldn't be overlooked #but tbh i love my munks dramatic so maybe i'm not the best person to ask #jellicles ask because jellicles dare #unpopular opinions #i guess #realreulbbrband
