the day suguru is declared a free man is actually the day he signs away his freedom for good.
you say nothing, but you know it’s the truth. satoru fights tooth and nail to plead suguru’s case—you think it’s perhaps a little too desperate for it to be in the best interest of suguru and not himself. but satoru has suffered enough, and admittedly—although you deny it—a small part of you does not want to lose suguru twice. you watch as satoru argues that suguru has already died once—surely he can’t die again? and losing control of his body and mind is paying for his crimes enough, is it not? he argues that there are no ideals left for a man like geto suguru to chase after losing himself to every principle he had left.
and then satoru wins.
you expect it, but it doesn’t make it any easier. you watch numbly as suguru is assigned under your watch. you should be happy. you love suguru—you never stopped. but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s not a free man, and now he drags your freedom with his. you’ll never break away from him, never cut through the ropes that tie your hands behind your back and bind you to him—and then you wonder for a moment, unsure if it’s selfish or selfless or some cruel in-between to think this way, if geto suguru was better off dead.
whether that’s for your sake, or his, you’re not sure.
and yes, he’s let off alive, and sure, there’s no real punishment for all he’s done, but you know deep down he’s as chained and shackled as he’s ever been. he’s not allowed to leave the house unless you or satoru are there to chaperone, and it’s never to be anywhere near non-sorcerers. he’s not to live in a place of his own until the higher up’s deem him trustworthy. he has to ask you to buy the things he wants from the grocery store. he can’t even step outside for a smoke unless you’re aware.
for a long time, he doesn’t speak much—can hardly muster a barely audible mornin’ back when you force a smile and greet him cheerily for breakfast. slowly, it turns into half-snarky conversations that get cut short by one of you leaving the room. finally, you’re civil—maybe even friendly. you’re not so sure where you stand with him as of now.
it’s not the same suguru you remember falling in love with, it’s not even close to the version of the man you fell for all those years ago. it’s hard having him here—some days you’re angry and want to throw him out, to scream at him for haunting you again just when you think you’ve moved on from the horrors of your past. some days you want to cry and cling to him, bury your face into his neck and thank him for being here again, for finding his way back to you. and some days you wish you never met him at all, that this would all be easier if it didn’t exist in the first place.
he’s not the same geto suguru you loved, but somehow, because life is as bitter as it is ruthless, you fall in love with this version just as hard no matter how much you deny it.
“i made your favorite,” you smile gently, placing a neat plate of french toast with freshly cut strawberries on the side. you even take great care to get the syrup-to-powdered sugar ratio he likes right, but he doesn’t make a move to reach for the plate. instead, suguru sits at the table stiffly, like he has to be here or there are consequences for that too. it almost makes you sad—even here, he’s not free.
“thanks,” he says quietly, “but i’m not hungry.”
“you said that last night, suguru,” you sigh, “and at lunch. and at breakfast. and at dinner the night before—”
“i’ll eat it later,” he cuts you off, playing with the ends of his hair.
it’s a lot shorter now. it’s you who finds his body battered and bruised after the smoke clears. he’s almost unrecognizable, not the same charming and perfect suguru you’re used to seeing. not the same silkened strands and smooth skin, not the same muscled and toned body, not the same chiseled jaw and soft cheeks. instead, he’s a shell of himself. his hair is matted in knots, his body is almost frail, and you notice the sunken hollows of his cheeks and dark undereyes as you lift him from the rubble a little too easily. but his body is his own—that much you can tell from the way the stitches have disappeared.
it takes shoko a long time to nurse him back to health—it takes even longer for him to open his eyes.
you waited day and night by his side, hand over his as he breathed slowly, unconscious and unsuspecting. it would be so easy, you think one night, it would be so easy to kill him and forget and move on.
you’ve already grieved him once before. you’ve felt and conquered the pain of loving geto suguru and losing him first to himself and then to death. but love is as selfish as it is selfless, and it’s under your mercy that you let him live—yet it’s under your cowardice that you keep him close.
“you have to gain back the weight you lost, suguru,” you sigh, “you’re w—”
“weak?” he finishes for you, eyeing you for a second and then grinning. it’s unsettling, a grin that makes your skin crawl and your heart stop for a moment before he’s reaching for the fork and stabbing into his toast. “is that what you wanted to say? that i’m weak?”
“suguru, you know that’s not how i meant—”
“you’re not wrong,” he hums, chewing on the first bite as he speaks, “i suppose i am pretty weak right now, huh? couldn’t even kill you in your sleep if i tried could i?”
your throat is dry as you shrug, “i suppose not,” you whisper.
“ah,” he grins again, “but that doesn’t stop you from locking your door every night, does it?”
suguru is still healing. his body is weak, and sometimes, he leans against the wall as he walks. his arm is healed—you’re not entirely sure how, but you catch him rolling the shoulder out every now and then like it’s sore and stiff. he’s lost a lot of weight—part of it is from being bedridden for as long as he was, injured and half alive, and part of it is from barely eating—save for the few bites you force into him. you never thought there’d be a day when you could say this—but the odds of you beating suguru in hand-to-hand combat are high, and the reality is an everlasting reminder that he is not who you fell for.
you swallow, letting out a shaky breath as he watches you closely, diligently cutting another bite from the french toast sitting on his plate as he stares you down like he can see past your soul. you don’t know what’s scarier—that suguru can still practically see yours, or that you’re unsure he even has one anymore.
“you tried coming in?” you ask, unsure what else to say. he merely shrugs, takes another bite, and sets his fork down.
“thought i’d check on you,” he pops a strawberry half into his mouth as he speaks.
“is that what it really was?” you raise a brow, “or was i right to lock the door?”
you’re not sure why you lock the door at night. maybe it’s because you don’t trust him, or maybe it’s because you don’t want him near you just yet. you’re not sure. you’re not sure how satoru can go back to his cheery self, how he can step through your door and boom a loud yo, suguru! before settling beside suguru on the couch with his feet on the coffee table as he rambles away. maybe it’s not real—maybe it’s satoru desperately pretending that if he tries hard enough, things can go back to how they were.
but you don’t know how he still has the energy to try, and you don’t know if you have it in you to try anymore yourself.
you and suguru stare each other down like that for a bit, the tension rising with every silent second that passes. you’re sure he doesn’t want to be here as much as you don’t want him around—but you’re also sure he’s glad it’s here with you as much as you’re glad it’s with no one else.
“you tell me,” he smirks after a bit, the hint of amusement making your fists clench. how dare he have the audacity to look at you like that in your own home? like he has the upper hand over you without trying? “what do you think i was there for?”
“i think you should stay in your room, suguru,” you say carefully, “i bought a new bed just for that room.”
“how sweet of you,” he hums. he sips the tea before him—it’s cold by now, but it’s just how he likes it, rose with one sugar. “you must have been excited to have me.”
“hardly,” you mumble bitterly—you can’t help it. you want him to feel hurt, even just a little. you want him to know that just because he’s back, it doesn’t mean you’ve waited all this time for him to be. liar, a part of you says, you’ve always waited for him, haven’t you? but suguru doesn’t seem phased—he doesn’t even blink.
“then tell me, why am i here?” suguru asks, his tone is as casual as ever.
i wish i knew, you want to say. i wish i knew but i don’t.
“because satoru asked you to be,” is all you can say.
he nods, pushing back his plate and standing up, offering you that same grin. “you’re right,” he hums, “that’s exactly why i’m here.”
it hits you why his smile is so unsettling once he leaves—it’s almost genuine, like he’s still loved you all this time. impossible, you tell yourself. suguru stopped loving you a long time ago. and you need to stop trying to figure out why.
————————————————
even despite telling yourself you don’t care what suguru thinks, a small part of you needs to prove to him you’re not scared of him. that you don’t fear for your own safety in your home, and that him being here is not some form of him haunting you. you don’t care. he shouldn’t get the luxury of thinking you care. he can come in and watch you sleep like the creep he is if he wants—you couldn’t bother to give it a second thought.
the first night you take a chance and leave the door unlocked, suguru slips into bed beside you. it wakes you up instantly, and before you can question it, his head tucks into your neck, and his hand grasps your shirt tightly. you notice the panting almost instantly—and then you realize, it must be a nightmare.
you fall into old habits, even after all these years, defaulting to care for him like it’s second nature.
“you’re safe, suguru,” is what you settle for saying after a moment of contemplation. it’s all you can really think to say, so you brush your lips over the top of his head as you murmur, “you’re safe,” over and over again.
as difficult as it is to have suguru around, as painful and cruel and aggravating as it is to be reminded of his distant existence even as he’s two doors down, this part feels natural. it’s almost like you’re back in jujutsu high, waking up to him sneaking into your room as he presses his weight over your body and wakes you with soft kisses along your face.
except this time, he’s not annoyingly demanding cuddles or telling you about his weird dream, he’s not stealing your blanket and demanding you play with his hair. this time, it’s not the same suguru—and this time, it’s not jujutsu high.
it’s your room. the one you got on the other side of town to leave the sorcery world behind, somehow still stuck right in the center of it no matter where you go. and yet, just like all those years ago, your legs tangle, and your arms wrap him up, and you murmur, “you’re safe,” while he catches his breath.
“but they’re not,” he mutters in between labored pants, making you pause.
and then you remember.
faintly, you recall the blonde and black hair from a distance, you remember bitterly wondering what’d it be like watching suguru fathering children of your own as you came to the reality that it would never happen. sometimes, you wonder if you hate nanako and mimiko for existing, for living as the dreams you never got to live through with suguru.
it’s selfish—to hate two children because they are what you do not have.
but then you feel something wet hit your neck, and then you wish they were okay—for his sake. and just for a moment, you’re selfless again.
“they’re not safe,” he mutters, making you sigh.
“they are,” you whisper, hesitating for a moment before letting your fingers slip into his hair. you scratch gently at his scalp, feeling his body melt into yours almost instantly—like it’s a response that’s natural to him. “they’re not suffering. not anymore.”
“is that supposed to make me feel better?” he scoffs. you shrug, letting your cheek press against the top of his head as you sigh.
“it helps me feel better,” you say softly, “‘s just how you learn to cope.”
it’s an understanding you both silently come to. loss on both sides. bloodshed on either ground. defeat no matter which ideal you take. to love is to bear the pain of mortality—it’s a lesson that you never cease to learn until the ends of time itself.
“the jujutsu world is one of suffering,” he grits, sniffling into your neck. you hum, pressing a kiss to his head as your eyes close.
“every world is one of suffering, suguru, you can’t erase them all. the sooner you realize that, the easier you’ll find peace.”
you fall into a slumber after that, faintly aware of the way he shuffles closer to you, faintly aware of the soft kiss pressed to your skin as sleep takes over your body and drifts you out of consciousness.
when you wake up the next morning, suguru is gone, and the door is closed. the blanket is tucked up to your chin, and your neck still tingles from last night.
————————————————
“get up,” you throw a pillow at suguru, waking him up with a start as he sits up. his hair is tousled and messy from sleep—it’s now long enough that he can put it in a bun without strands slipping from the bottom anymore. you chuckle as he glares at you, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as he groans.
“the fuck was that for?” he grunts, holding the blanket up to cover his exposed chest.
it’s funny that he does that, in a way. it’s not as though you haven’t seen his chest…and then some too. it’s not like you haven’t torn his shirt off to stanch the flow of blood from his injuries before or feel the bare skin with your palm under the pale moonlight as the lingering scent of sex breezes through the room.
but somehow, even though he doesn’t need to cover his chest around you of all people, you’re glad that he does. truthfully, it keeps you slightly comforted to know that he’s aware you’re still technically strangers—no matter how well-versed you are in each other’s pasts. but you don’t ponder on it too much. instead, you grin, shoving aside the visual of the small glance you caught at his pecs, and you clap your hands to motion him to hurry.
“we are going grocery shopping,” you say casually—as though it’s not something to make him raise a brow in shock.
“me?” he points a finger at himself. you roll your eyes, and he challenges you with another raise of his brow. “aren’t i supposed to stay away from civilians?”
“yes, you,” you nod, pointing back at him, “and satoru has worked overtime to get you granted permission to roam around with me. he says you’re welcome, by the way.”
“tell him to go fuck off.”
“that’s ungrateful,” you say flatly, “his feelings will be hurt.”
“his feelings will find a way to cope,” suguru huffs. “i don’t want to be around…them,” he says bitterly.
you suppose it’s wishful thinking to hope suguru has let go of his past beliefs. perhaps he’s long abandoned the possibility of the vision he once planned on bringing to life, but you can’t say you expected him to revert back to the old suguru who fought alongside you and satoru. you yourself certainly have no intention of returning to the sorcery world after all the events, so you can’t say you’re shocked by the lack of change he seems to show. but then again, you suppose suguru has changed. whether he sees it or not.
he stays here and doesn’t put up a fight to leave even though he can now that he’s healed. he eats lunch when you tell him and even washes the dishes. sometimes, when you come home a bit late, dinner is even ready on the table as he sits and stares at you expectantly. his plate is empty like yours—like he’s been waiting for you even though he doesn’t need to. you suppose you can see he’s changed in the way he doesn’t scoff at the tv channels you surf through, he silently sits on the opposite end of the couch now and watches with you, and perhaps if you’re lucky, you’ll hear a light chuckle or a quiet sigh as the scenes roll on the screen.
you suppose this suguru is a step closer to your suguru every day he spends with you, but you don’t know if any suguru is what you need right now. perhaps that name should’ve been buried away as a distant memory, perhaps it should’ve only been something you unlock once every year on his death anniversary—when satoru clambers through your door drunk and unsteady as he clutches the hand that killed his best friend, only to share pancakes with you in the morning and pretend like you don’t notice the dried tears on his cheeks while he acts like he doesn’t catch the way your hand shakes as you cut into your breakfast.
but suguru is here now. whether it’s as geto, one half of the strongest duo in jujutsu high, whether it’s as suguru, the love of your life and the sole reason you exist, or whether it’s as geto suguru, the curse user and mass murderer who haunts your past, present, and everything in between.
so you simply sigh, grab the pillow again, and hit the top of his head before walking over to the door as you call over your shoulder, “i’m gonna wait for you by the door in fifteen minutes. be ready or face the consequences..”
“no thanks. don’t wanna,” suguru grumbles petulantly, frowning at you as you stick your tongue at him, smirking as if you’ve just played your ace.
“too bad,” you sing before swinging the door shut.
he’s at the door in exactly fifteen minutes, like he waited until the last possible second to join you as a move of spite. but you simply gesture him out the door and lock up, taking your sweet time as he stands there with an annoyed face. you stare at the doorknob once you’re done, taking a deep breath before turning to him with your best smile.
“let’s go,” you hum.
“after you,” he mutters.
he grimaces as soon as he sees the people going about their business, clearly unhappy with the idea of being around non-sorcerers, but one sharp glare from you has him sighing and trekking along. the grocery store, admittedly, is not as bad as suguru thinks—in fact, there are lots of things he doesn’t realize he misses until he watches you grab a shopping cart.
suddenly, he sees shadows. the silhouette of your figure climbing into the cart, the angry wave of satoru’s hands as he claims it's his turn to be pushed around, the figure of shoko pinching the bridge of her nose in irritation from the back—and then, he sees the dark shadow of baggy pants and a small bun. it’s him. suguru watches himself almost in slow motion through the remnants of his imagination as he gently shoves satoru out of the way and reaches to poke the tip of your nose before he pushes the cart with you in it.
it’s a happy memory—and it’s gone all too soon.
as soon as he blinks, the shadows have disappeared—instead, it’s you waving a hand in his face, concern written on your features as you call his name.
“suguru? hey, hello? are you with me?”
he exhales, pulled from his trance as he gently grabs your wrist from in front of his face and sets it down as he nods, “yeah, i’m fine. just thinking,” he mumbles.
for a second, you hesitate, like you almost mean to say something. but in the end, you only nod before turning to grab the shopping cart. but he stops you—grabs the handle and turns to you with a small smile on his face, making you raise a brow as he gently moves you away.
“what are you—”
“get in,” he grins, making you stare at him in bewilderment.
“what?”
“just get in,” he sighs, “you love it when you get to sit in the cart.”
“i’m not a teenager anymore—”
“get in, will you?” he groans, “always so damn difficult.”
“hey,” you pout, glaring at him with your hands planted at your hips, “that’s rude.” it’s cute. suguru stares at you with amusement in his eyes and a soft look on his face that you don’t think you’ve really seen in years.
“humor me,” he hums, “just get in, okay?”
so you do.
with a huff and a grumble under your breath, you fight back a smile and climb into the damn cart just like old times. you swallow and try not to let it get to you when he reaches over and pokes the tip of your nose and pushes the cart around, letting you name off the things you need from your list while he grabs them. and when he sneaks snacks into the pile, you roll your eyes and glare at him in the way you always did—the one that isn’t actually annoyed. fond. happy to let it slide because it’s him.
“we need candy,” you murmur, “that’s the last thing on the list.”
“okay. what kind?” he asks, turning the cart into the candy aisle and smiling softly down at you.
“doesn’t matter, satoru eats anything as long as it’s sweet. he’s more likely to die from sugar than fighting a curse, i think.”
“you buy candy for satoru?” he asks, making you shrug as you reach over and grab a few bags of candy off the shelves, setting them down beside you.
“he comes over a lot so i learned to keep stuff stocked up for him. you know how he gets when he’s hungry.”
suguru feels something he hasn’t felt since he was a teenager. jealousy—specifically of satoru.
suguru is not foolish. he knows as soon as he meets gojo satoru that of the two, one of them is stronger and it’s definitely not himself. for the longest time, he’s okay with that, okay being the strongest only when alongside satoru—until he’s not. and even if suguru always had a bit more attention in the romance department than satoru, in his head he’s always known that perhaps satoru can keep you safer, more well off, maybe even happier. with smooth smiles and eyes as welcoming as an oasis, gojo satoru would never leave you in the dark pit of misery as suguru once had.
something about the thought of you and satoru keeping each other company through the lonely years, filling that empty spot suguru left behind, sharing moments over candy and empty wrappers makes suguru wonder for a moment if perhaps he’d be happier if he stayed. maybe he could have worn a heartfelt smile in a world that carves them off the faces of sorcerers with bloody knives as long as you were there to wipe the blood.
but before he can dwell on it, you snatch one more bag—this time of his favorite candy, placing it into the cart and grinning gently up at him.
“i haven’t bought this one in years,” you admit, “i almost forget how it tastes.”
“me too,” he says quietly.
“well,” you hum, “we’ll have to have some when we’re home.”
home. you say it as though it belongs to him as much as it does you, and then like you always have, without even meaning to, you wash away the dark stains of his jealousy with no trace left behind.
“yeah,” he chuckles, “we—”
“daddy, look! candy!” suguru is cut off by the gentle pitter-patter of two tiny feet running into the aisle, pointing at a bag of candy as a man follows close behind.
his breath hitches.
she’s small, the girl—she has two pigtails with soft strands of blonde hair falling out of the loosely tied bands. it reminds suguru of the first time he perfected tying up nanako’s hair, the soft giggles behind her tiny hand as she twirled in the mirror.
there’s another girl in the man’s arms—dark hair on her head as she curls into her father’s chest and tucks her head into his neck when she sees you and suguru in the aisle. she’s shy, he realizes, like mimiko, and suddenly he remembers the tiny fingers that used to hook into his pants when she got too overwhelmed by the people around her, waiting for suguru to scoop her into his arms.
perhaps in another life, suguru would redo everything differently—he’d be happy with you and satoru and shoko, and nanami and haibara would be there too, well and alive. but no matter what, he’d never redo nanako and mimiko differently. he’d never change a thing about them, not even the way nanako whines too much about small things or the way mimiko never speaks up even when something is clearly bothering her. he’d never change the way he saved them and took them in at the tender age of eighteen, too lost to be a father but choosing to raise them anyway. he’d never change the feeling of pure joy and unbridled pride when they climbed into his bed for the first time, shushing each other so as not to wake him—even though he’d awoken as soon as the door to his room opened.
because he realized that night that yeah, maybe he’d made mistakes in his lifetime, lots of them too. maybe he’d made a bad choice choosing the path he did, or maybe he didn’t. he’s never been completely sure—just that he had to try at least to make his vision for a different world come to life. but one mistake he never made was his girls. one thing he was always sure about was the soft clutch at his pants and the tiny hands reaching for his own.
suguru wouldn’t change anything about nanako and mimiko—except maybe the fact that they aren’t here, gone because of him.
“suguru?” you ask softly, reaching for his hand as he grips the cart tightly and pulling his gaze away from the family in the distance.
he blinks, meets your eyes, and knows that you know. with one glance at your face, he knows you understand. the world is cruel, one filled with suffering, he thinks. but then he remembers what you said, that every world is full of suffering, not just his—that it’s a truth he has to come face to face with.
but it’s hard. it’s hard when this man has his two little girls and suguru does not—it’s hard to watch someone have what he wants with no worries of losing it, all because of people and their own weaknesses. he thinks for a moment that he’s been right all along—that non-sorcerers are too weak for this life, that the jujutsu world has always suffered so they don’t have to.
but then the man speaks up, catching both of your attention.
“your mother used to love those,” he says quietly to his daughter, a pained smile on his face. instantly, you and suguru both seem to understand the weight of that single sentence.
every world has its own pain, suguru realizes. its own cruelties and unfairness, its own way of bringing suffering in its wake as it rips away the things closest to you from your begging fingertips, leaving them cold and empty and numb from the lost weight underneath them.
“let’s go, suguru,” you whisper, “we have everything we came for.”
“yeah,” he whispers back, clearing his throat so his voice doesn’t crack, “let’s go.”
suguru leaves the grocery store with you after you pay, and for a brief moment, he’s unsure. unsure whether he’s grateful to satoru for fighting for him to be able to come and grateful to you for dragging him along, or if he wishes he died along with the rubble, gone before you could find him and turn him into this.
“before you even think about hiding away in your room,” you say, grabbing the bags from the cart as you put it back where it belongs, “you have to help with putting away the groceries.”
“sure,” he says smoothly. he grabs all the heavy bags from your hand, and you make a move to protest that you don’t need him to take the heavier ones, that you’re fine and can handle them like you’ve always handled them.
but he walks off, and finally, you decide to simply follow.
————————————————
satoru likes to come and visit—you’ve started a routine movie night every week (unless he’s away, of course.) it’s fun, but it also means he makes your veins pop because he’s a headache like that—always makes himself right at home and eats your snacks like this is his place and not yours. he helps himself to your already limited candy and puts his sock-clad feet up on the coffee table no matter how many times you tell him not to.
you try sitting with legs as long as these, he always whines, earning a harsh glare from you as you smack at his shins until he ultimately caves and begrudgingly sets his feet down.
but then they always make their way back up to the coffee table, and you’re too busy enjoying his company to care—although you’ll never admit it.
satoru is endearing like that, swallowing the dark clouds from your shoulders whole and eating up your burdens with that side of responsibility that you don’t think you could ever stomach. satoru is just like that, you realize, taking the brunt of the weight and laughing off every concern until you can’t help but not take them seriously yourself.
it’s hard to remember that sometimes you didn’t just lose suguru, the love of your life, that night. everyone lost something. shoko lost someone to smoke with, yaga lost a student to scold, nanami lost a headache to avoid, and satoru?
well…satoru lost what you think might’ve been the only filled void of his miserably empty life.
it’s hard to remember that satoru lost his best friend—the only best friend he’s ever had (although you like to think of yourself as a close contender)—because he’s so good at letting you forget. he brings you ice cream (that he eats half of because it’s only fair he gets a share), and he sits and hogs your couch (that he argues you don’t really need as much space as him on because your legs aren’t as long), and he watches those stupid sitcoms that are dry with boring jokes (that you used to make suguru watch back in the day).
it’s hard to remember that satoru also lost as much as you because he’s so damn good at making you forget about your own loss, you don’t care to think about anyone else’s for a while. just a short while. just until he’s yawning that obnoxiously loud yawn and stretching those awkwardly long limbs of his before he claims he really should go and that being the world’s best teacher requires as many hours of beauty sleep as you can squeeze in.
and then he’s off. and it’s empty again. and just like that, you’re reminded of why he was there in the first place—to fill in that sick and painful void that geto suguru left in you.
it’s gaping, like he tore a chunk of you right out with sharp teeth, like you’re just a piece of meat for him to get his fill of. if suguru really loved you, would you be so easy to let go of? why couldn’t he smile? because you could—god, you could smile just from the sight of him alone, you realize a long time ago. him with his cigarette tucked between his lips, those death sticks as you called them, hung loosely from his mouth as he gives you a lopsided grin.
geto suguru is enough of a reason to smile. the world could crumble at your feet and leave you with nothing but rubble and dirt, and still, suguru is the core of the earth you’re searching for.
so why couldn’t you be the same? what is it you were missing? what about you was just not enough for him like the way he was enough for you?
it dawns on you one night, through bitter tears and shaky sobs, and that sick, twisted, pleading feeling in your gut that begs the wind to carry him back to you—geto suguru has never loved you the way you loved him.
and for that, you can never forgive him, you don’t think.
“you tryin’ to go bug-eyed?” he asks, settling down on the couch next to you, making you snap out of your trance. you shake your head a little, stare back at him for a moment before putting on that look on your face where you roll your eyes and pretend everything is fine.
“no,” you huff, “i’m just thinking.”
“about…?”
“satoru has rarely ever missed a movie night.”
“maybe he’s sick of you,” he shrugs, grinning slyly at you as you narrow your eyes with a glare, “there’s someone here to keep you company now so he’s probably taken his opportunity to run.”
“you’re hardly company,” you scoff, “freeloader.”
“hey,” he defends, shrugging as if it’s not his fault. you suppose it’s not. “i didn’t ask to be rescued. you can’t be high and mighty and petty. ‘s not how that works.”
“says who? you don’t make the rules. i can be graciously kind and a jerk all at once.”
“complexity,” he nods, “i like it.”
“i’m not as complicated as you might think,” you grumble, crossing your arms as you stare at the time. yeah, satoru isn’t making it—which, he told you as much, but he’s strolled in at the last second too many times to count before. you figure today would be the same. “as long as you don’t skip movie nights with me, i’m pretty simple to keep appeased.”
“alright,” he props his feet up on the coffee table—seriously, what is it with asshole men putting their feet on your table? satoru is a terrible influence. “let’s have a movie night.”
“what?” you blink.
“movie night,” he repeats, “you said you don’t like skipping movie night—”
“well, i meant i don’t like satoru skipping movie—”
“well, it was me before satoru, wasn’t it?” he says with a smile. his eyes are closed, crinkled at the corners, but his voice is carefully neutral—like he takes extra care not to let you see any emotion behind it.
but that only means there is an emotion, isn’t there? is he jealous? does he hate the fact that you and satoru have a routine of your own without him? that you don’t need him to continue living your life?
good. he should be. he walked out on you all those years ago. he killed a village. killed his parents. you never even got to meet them—he never even got to take you home and introduce you to them before he ripped away every fantasy you ever had with him.
and now he’s back—he has the audacity to live, to laugh in your face with his existence that yes, geto suguru is here. and he was supposed to be executed, but your stubborn friend didn’t let that happen. he was supposed to be your husband by now with kids and a happy little home, and you were supposed to be his parent’s new addition to their family that they loved so much. but none of that is even close to happening, and it’s suguru’s fault, and the least he can do is show you some regret and maybe feel just the slightest bit bad that you now have to watch shitty movies with his best friend instead of him to feel normal.
ex-best friend? half best friend? you don’t even know—do they still consider each other their best friends? does anyone consider suguru anything? you don’t know what you consider him. but you think the least he can do is act just the slightest bit pathetic after making you feel so pathetic for so long just to even the score.
he should be a stranger. he feels like an old friend. but either is dangerous.
“alright,” you sigh, “let's bring back movie night. don’t fall asleep.”
“i get plenty of sleep nowadays,” he hums, “i have more than enough free time for that now.”
“how lucky of you,” you snort.
picking a movie with suguru is difficult. he actually has standards—satoru watches anything so long as he gets snacks, and he can make anything fun to watch with the way he comments from the side like a critic. suguru, on the other hand, actually cares about the quality of a movie, the metrics that make it good.
so you pick the hunger games just to piss him off.
“seriously?” he raises a brow, “this is your pick?”
“yes,” you grin, “i like these movies.”
“of all movies—”
“my house, my rules,” you grin cheekily, “you can pick the movies as soon as you start paying the bills.”
“wow,” he deadpans, “stooping to use my financial status against me? i thought you were better than this.”
“oh suguru,” you sigh dramatically, grabbing a bag of chips from the table, “you don’t know me at all.”
all things considered, you think it’s a rather enjoyable experience. it’s not as fun without satoru’s stupid comments that you pretend to hate, but suguru provides his own commentary that earns a giggle out of you here and there too—although his are not meant to be funny. but that’s the appeal of it, you think.
“she should have picked gale,” he mumbles. you raise a brow.
“peeta was always there for her, did you miss the rain scene?”
“so was gale,” he says smoothly, grabbing a chip from your bag and making you scowl.
“gale killed her sister,” you point out, “and a lot of other people too. he was ruthless. she needed peeta.”
“gale did what he had to do,” suguru mumbles.
suddenly, it doesn’t really feel like you’re discussing the movie anymore. it feels more than that. it feels sickening—the air is heavy, and your throat is dry and god, you just wanted a movie night and not this heaviness as you talk about stuff from the past without actually talking about it.
you blink before turning to your chips, playing around with the bag as you shrug.
“in the end he didn’t get katniss, did he?”
suguru studies you for a moment, stares a little too deep into you that you start to feel the urge to bolt to your room and go to bed.
“guess not,” he says quietly, “guess that’s the one regret he has, huh?”
you think for a second, as suguru stares at your eyes with something you can’t quite read, that you might cry. you might cry and throw that half-empty can of soda in his face for speaking in codes and making you question what he means and remember your past. you might cry because suguru could’ve always gotten you—in fact, he had you.
it’s not fair. nothing is, but you can’t help but dwell on it.
“i’m going to bed. it’s late,” you mumble after a few moments, standing. he only nods, staring at the tv as the credits roll. when you make it to your room and the door shuts behind you, you debate clicking the lock in place.
in the end, you don’t lock the door. suguru climbs into bed with you once more later that night, shaking slightly from his nightmare but calmer than usual. he’s still gone by the time morning comes, and you still never mention it.
it hits you one night that maybe he still has you—maybe you never let him stop having you, no matter what you say.
————————————————
suguru is good at cleaning while you’re away. you have to go out and do adult things like breadwinning and grocery shopping and bill paying. he dusts and cleans and even takes out the trash when you’re home to monitor him as he steps two feet out of your front door. sometimes, because you like to get on his nerves, you accidentally mess up a corner of the house just as he cleans it, laughing as he shoots you an unimpressed look.
“stop getting crumbs on the floor,” he mumbles, “i just vacuumed.”
“you make a good malewife,” you giggle, “vacuuming and everything. how cute.”
“don’t call me that,” he grumbles, sitting down on the couch.
“but you missed a spot,” you point to the crumbs you’ve sprinkled from your fingers as you snack away, making him glare. “failwife.”
“i’m going to divorce you and take everything,” he snaps, making you snort as you put your hands up in surrender.
“you don’t have to, you know,” you murmur, clean, i mean. i can handle it.”
“i think i should carry my weight around here,” he shrugs, “since you are basically sugar babying me around for now.”
“dangerous curse user to the world, but sugar baby to me,” you tease, pulling a chuckle out of him as he rolls his eyes.
sometimes it’s nice to have his company. suguru is good with banter like that, he’s not annoying like satoru where you run in circles. suguru makes you laugh from your belly, makes the hiccups catch in your throat as you double over. he’s always been like that, always known how to make laughter pour from your lips and trickle down your chin. it’s comforting to know he still knows how. it leaves a small amount of bitterness that he’s still able to make you feel like this.
“by the way, next time you go shopping, take me with you,” he says casually, “i need to buy stuff for my hair. it’s growing.”
“you’ll finally see the sun just for your hair?” you gasp, “who knew that’s all it’d take?”
despite the playfulness in your words, there’s still shock. suguru is willingly stepping foot outside your house. he’s finally choosing to return to life after living like a recluse no matter how many times you and satoru have tried to beg him to get up and go somewhere. the most you can get out of him is a walk around the neighborhood before he goes back to wandering your home and hiding away in his room.
suguru is returning to life, his life, and you can’t help but wonder where that leaves room for you.
“my hair is my charm,” he reasons, “wouldn’t you agree?”
there’s a smirk on his lips when he asks—it’s like he’s seventeen and teasing you again, giving you that unfairly flirty smile that used to make you stutter as a kid. back when you were hopelessly in love. back when it was you, suguru, and the world in your corner. back when you had dreams of your future, practically giggling as you planned it away in a notebook.
suguru was always perfect like that, the kind of guy you could only dream about. he’s always been handsome—he’s always been the center of attention everywhere you went. you used to huff about it, about all the attention he managed to get from walking into a room alone. but then he’d smile, give you that tender look of his as he’d chuckle, and you’d be hopeless again.
he shouldn’t have that effect on you anymore after over a decade. but he does. it’s cruel, the way the universe works. it’s like there’s a magnet that pushes you together no matter how far you try to go, still pulled by gravity straight into his awaiting eyes and devilish smile.
“i cut your hair off once, i can do it again,” you huff. he laughs, it’s good-natured and kind.
“i was a bit heartbroken when i realized it was so short, i have to admit,” he says, “i didn’t look like me.”
“you looked good,” you say quietly, “i think you’d make anything work, to be honest.”
“yeah?” he grins, “any requests? i might consider it if it’s you.”
“oh shut up,” you roll your eyes, “how about shaving your head bald? let's see how much charm you have without all that hair.”
“i could charm you without the hair still, couldn’t i?” he winks.
it’s unfair how he acts like normal. like a few months in your home undoes everything he’s ever committed, all the atrocities he’s caused. the way he flirts with you feels like you’re his again. the way he’s aged and changed feels like you’re meeting someone new. you don’t understand how suguru is so natural with that—with seamlessly falling back into a rhythm with you like nothing has changed at all.
deep down, you know that suguru is just moving on with his life. he’s making the most of what he can. he can’t die, satoru would never let him have a peaceful death after all this. he can’t go back to the way things used to be, whether that’s his sorcery days or his curse user days, and he certainly can’t start over. so he’s making do with what he has—which is very little in reality.
it’s you, your home, and the biweekly visits from satoru and occasionally shoko. so he weaves you seamlessly into his life and treats you with a sense of normalcy you can’t hope to treat him with. maybe it’s because suguru was actually able to move on after he left.
it’s the part you hated him most for. for building a family with new people. for having two girls that he raised as daughters. for finding people to follow him and trust. suguru, after he walked away from everything he ever knew, actually did something with his life—even if it could hardly be considered good.
you? you fell deeper and deeper into a pit of denial until clawing your way back out was too impossible, until you had to leave behind everything you’ve ever known to get away from the remnants of his existence.
it’s easy for him to weave you back into his life because he chose to cut you loose. it feels damn near impossible to let him weave back into yours after he tore himself from the edges and frayed away.
“don’t do that,” you sigh, making him frown.
“do what?”
“you know what, suguru,” you pinch your nose in frustration, “stop acting like things are normal.”
“things are definitely not normal,” he snorts bitterly, “i think needing your approval to take the trash out is not equal to normal.”
“then why are you acting like…” you trail off, unsure.
“like what?” he raises a brow.
“like we never changed,” you slam your hands down on the couch in exasperation.
he stares at you for a minute, blinks once, then twice, and then furrows his brows.
“well, of course we changed,” he mumbles in confusion, “i know that—”
you shouldn’t have said anything. you quickly realize that. suguru is not trying to act like things are normal—he’s trying to be civil, and you’re just a fool. a fool who looks too deeply into everything and assumes what you want to out of things and god, you’ve embarrassed yourself in front of your one and only ex-boyfriend in over a decade who was once dead and somehow came back to the land of the living.
of course, he knows things are not the same. he doesn’t want what you think he does. it’s been years and suguru has moved on—he had already moved on all those years ago, and you’re the only one here that is still focused on the past. and now he knows it too.
you stand before he can finish, nodding as you stare down instead of meeting his eyes, pretending to adjust your clothes.
“right, of course you do,” you nod, “i don’t know why i said that. just ignore me, i’ll be going to my room now. i have…things to do, so i’ll be—”
“hang on,” he frowns, hand grabbing your wrist, “i don’t mean it like that,” he says gently.
fuck geto suguru for being so confusing and fuck him for being nice about it too.
“you can let go, suguru,” you pull at your wrist, “forget what i said, i wasn’t thinking—”
“i still feel the same,” he cuts you off, making your eyes widen, “if that’s what you mean. i never stopped.”
never stopped—that’s almost worse than moving on. how could he have felt the same all those years and still never come back?
“that does not help even a little,” you swallow the lump in your throat. “that makes this so much worse, do you see that?”
“i know,” he sighs, “i’m sor—”
“don’t say you’re sorry,” you grit your teeth, “we both know you’re not.”
“maybe not,” he admits, “i had to try. and that meant leaving—i’m sorry that’s not what you wanted.”
“it’s not!” you turn around, pulling your arm out of his grasp—suguru, for what it’s worth, takes the shove to his chest like a champ. “of course i didn’t want you to leave and kill a bunch of people and have an execution stamped on your forehead and live your life without me.”
“i know—”
“and now you’re back. back! in my house, eating my food and sleeping in my bed for half the night and i just have to act like this is normal. how is any of this normal?”
“it’s not,” he agrees. he’s calm. so calm, it almost makes you mad. why is he so calm? “nothing about anything in our lives is normal. it never was.”
“you ruined my life,” you blink back tears. he smiles sadly, taking a step closer.
“i guess i can take the blame for that,” he nods, hands finding their way to your hips. against your better judgment, you lean half your weight against his body. this is bad, very bad—but it’s also the best thing ever.
being close to suguru feels like the sun’s heat tearing through your skin—it’s warm. it’s pleasant. it leaves you parched and drained with a dry throat. but still, you need it to survive.
“why did you come back?” you ask tiredly. his hand finds the small of your back, rubbing slow circles.
“i don’t know,” he hums, “i didn’t really get a say. maybe i was always meant to, who knows?”
you look at him at that—tilt your head to get a good look at his features. his eyes are more tired, and his cheeks are a bit more sunken in compared to the youthful flesh you remember him with. his hair isn’t as healthy, and his forehead has the slightest traces of pale marks from the scars. but he’s still suguru—and you have always loved suguru, even if he gives you every reason to hate him.
“you make my life unreasonably difficult,” you mutter.
he hums, smiling. “can i?” he asks breathlessly, pleadingly. you stare at his eyes, he stares at your lips. you know what he wants—but fuck, you can’t let him have it so easy.
“can you what?” you ask, raising a brow slowly.
“are you really gonna make me say it?” he grunts, lips almost curled into a pout. it’s cute, the way he looks longingly at your lips—it’s so cute and beautiful and dangerous all at once, just like suguru.
“yes,” you say, “yes i am. i deserve to hear it suguru, after everything you put me through. you…you left me. i wasn’t enough for you. i mourned you. i grieved a body i never even saw. do you know what that does to a person? to lose them not once but two times? the least you could do is tell me what you want,” your voice wavers just a little.
it shakes for the lost time. for the moments you’ll never have. for the memories you lost. for the past that’s tainted. time is cruel like that. but that’s the beauty of it all—the fragility. it’s like sand falling through the cracks of your fingers, every grain slipping from your reach but still soft and soothing against your skin as it falls. everything fades over time, everything starts to hurt one way or another. but it stops. it heals. it starts over. the sand fills the cup of your palms again, warm and delicate and just as beautiful as before it crumbled.
“can i kiss you?” he asks desperately, “please?”
“kissing me is not a temporary thing,” you shake your head, “not anymore. it’s for good. only for good.”
“i want to kiss you for good,” he nods, hands digging into your hips impatiently. you’re close. you’re too far. he can feel you, smell you, hear your unsteady breaths. but it’s not enough. he needs to devour you, taste you on his tongue, and melt you with his touch. “i won’t stop this time,” he promises.
“you better not,” you sniffle, tears blurring your vision. you hated suguru for leaving you. you hated him for coming back to you like this. you never stopped loving him, never will stop loving him—and maybe that’s what love is. when the darkness is worth trekking through for the afterglow of the light. “if you fucking leave me again, you’re dead to me. i don’t care how many times you come back to life. you’re dead to me.”
“okay,” he agrees through a shaky chuckle, “i suppose i deserve that. let me kiss you, yeah?”
“yeah,” you breathe.
he kisses you—years too late, he kisses you. it feels like you’re teenagers again. it feels different and foreign. you know this feeling like the back of your hand. you don’t understand what this sensation is anymore. it’s new. it’s old. it’s perfect. it hurts. suguru is here. he promised not to leave—you don’t know if you believe him, but you’re going to trust that finally, for once, you are enough.
you’re enough to make him happy. to give him a sense of purpose. to keep him swimming when his limbs start to sink.
finally, for once, you’re enough.
“i love you,” he whispers against your mouth, breathing the words into you like he’s offering you the air from his lungs, “i never stopped. i promise.”
“you don’t deserve to hear it from me,” you murmur back, panting against his lips, “not yet.”
“fair enough,” he chuckles, “you sure know how to leave a guy waiting.”
“i learned from the best,” you shoot back.
he grins—suguru smiles, heartfelt and real. life is full of misery, it’s painful, and nothing fucking makes sense. everything is cruel. everything dies no matter how carefully you water the roots. there’s always something, someone, ready to tear it from the earth. but if you keep planting the seeds, suguru will keep watering.
maybe something kind can bloom from that, something big enough for him to hide under the shade when the scorching heat of tragedy becomes too much.
in this world or in the jujutsu world; in this life or in the next. suguru is yours.
“why am i here?” he asks gently, his face digging into your neck. you hold him, cradling the back of his head as you hum.
“because i need you here. will you stay?”
“yes,” he murmurs, “i think i’ll stay.”

So this is Life on the Outside
(Pairing): yan!Zhongli x sheltered!gn!reader
(Summary): After spending many years sheltered from the outside world you take your first steps into unfamiliar territory and meet someone who seems to be trustworthy
(Warnings): NSFW, death (not reader’s or Zhongli), reader is very naive (and Zhongli takes advantage of that), dub-con, praise kink, rough sex (at the end though), overstimulation (at the end too)
(A/n): I’m fucking sick with a cold and it fucking sucks, so I wrote this to try to focus on something other than my cold, btw this is my second smut fic, (and let me know if there’s any gendered language here)
꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷︶꒷꒦˚꒷꒦˚︶꒦꒷ ♡ ꒷꒦︶˚꒦꒷˚꒦꒷︶꒷꒦︶︶˚ ꒦꒷
The world was a big scary place, that notion was thrilled into your head for as long as you can remember
You only knew someone personally and it was your Nana. She was the only person you had in this world and it appears it was the same for her
She would tell you that people were not to trusted and that you’ll only get hurt in the end, because of this you rarely went outside and didn’t question it. Being the only person you truly had a connection it was absolutely devastating when she died, leaving you alone
When you had to fend for yourself which meant going outside and you were dumbfounded when it wasn’t the hellscape she described. You walked to the marketplace taking in the sights you’ve been denied from seeing. After reaching your destination you realized how much you didn’t know. You didn’t know how money works nor where it came from
Dejected you decided to cut your loses until a strong hand rested on your shoulder
“Excuse me, but would you like for me to help you?”
You turned your head and saw a much older man with brown hair and golden eyes. He looked friendly enough so you accepted. You learned that his name is Zhongli and works at a funeral parlor, whatever that is
He offered you a meal at a restaurant, which you gladly accepted. The restaurant had food you never heard of before and they had so many options, it all overwhelmed you.
“Mr. Zhongli what should I get?
“I usually get the bamboo shoot soup, is that what you’re going to order?”
“Yep, you look very smart so I can trust you!” You said, your naivety showing through
As the day went on you told Zhongli about your life and there was something that showed up in his eyes that your innocent nature couldn’t decipher
After the meal was over he walked you home on the excuse of there being “dangerous people out at night and he’s someone you can trust.” You missed the hungry stares he would throw at you, especially towards your thighs and waist
“Thank you for walking me home, goodnight Mr. Zhongli.”
“You almost forgot something.”
“What is it?”
“A kiss, it’s customary to give one to people you’re close to. You don’t want to come off as rude, do you?”
You quickly gave him a kiss on the cheek, the same one you would give to Nana, it was meant to be friendly. And you didn’t want to disappoint Mr. Zhongli, and he seemed to be satisfied with your kiss
“Have a goodnight.” He smiled
꒷꒦˚︶︶꒦꒷︶꒷꒦˚꒷꒦˚︶꒦꒷ ♡ ꒷꒦︶˚꒦꒷˚꒦꒷︶꒷꒦︶︶˚ ꒦꒷
The two of you were close after that. Zhongli would accompany you on strolls around Liyue harbor and tell you the history of it.
Nana told you to stay far away from older people, men especially. She always said they can’t be trusted but never told you why, but Mr. Zhongli is different
He always makes sure you get the best deals on items, he helps you carry your groceries to your house, you trust him completely
You trust him so much that you didn’t bat an eye when he offers for you to stay with him and sleep in his bed with him, there’s nothing wrong with sharing a bed with him, right?
He’s so sweet and smart too, he tells you everything he knows about Liyue’s history. He even shows you priceless artifacts he has, you love how smart he is and how he teaches you things other than history
“Like this?” You held your legs open just as you were instructed
“Yes, like that.” He said as he pressed his cock against your hole
The feeling of him entering your walls felt foreign. Halfway in and it almost felt it was to much for you, but he told you it will eventually start to feel good. He finally fully sheathed his cock all the way in your gummy walls. After a while the stretch soon started to feel good, just like he said
“Your doing so well.” He praised as he wiped tears you didn’t know were there. “I’m going to start moving, is that okay?”
You nodded and he slowly began thrusting, the small mewls and whimpers grew into moans as his pace quickened
Zhongli took your left leg from your grip and threw in over his shoulder, getting deeper than before. You looked up at his concentrated face, like he was looking for somethi-
“Nnhhggg!”
A grin appears on the man’s face, he grabs your waist with both hands and starts to abuse that sweet spot
Archons, it felt so good~! Your eyes rolls to the back of your head and your tongue was out of your mouth
“You look you adorable all fucked out like this.” Zhongli’s words of praise went straight to your core, tightening around his cock. “You love it when I praise you, huh angel?”
You weakly nodded, your functions too muddled to form proper words. Too focused on the feeling of his cock dragging through your wall, you didn’t notice how his thrust became more sloppier
Zhongli reached down and captured your mouth in a heated kiss all the while thrusting into you with such fervor, you feel yourself on the verge of passing out
“That’s it, angel. Take my cock just how I taught you!” He said into your ear
With a few more thrust you came with a loud moan. As you fell limp Zhongli thrusted wildly completely disregarding any semblance of control how you lay limp. After a couple of harsh thrusts the man finishes deep inside you
A sigh let out of his lungs as he stood straight to admire you
Legs twitching from oversimulation, your entrance stuffed full with both his cock and cum, and you fucked out expression
He can feel his cock getting hard again, you seem to be coherent enough to go another round

Mercenary! Reader - 141, Los Vaqueros + Konig
So I recently rewatched Deadpool, and I was thinking about what the boys reactions would be to finding out that (r/n) is a mercenary - gave them a little bit of Wade's personality too~
Mentions of violence, strong language, little bit of angst if you squint.
Simon "Ghost" Riley
Oh, he definitely doesn't trust you.
He's impressed by your skills on the battlefield, and knows that you're very good at what you do - otherwise you wouldn't be a mercenary - but he absolutely wouldn't turn his back on you.
Price would have probably already told 141 about you, but even if he hadn't he probably would have put two and two together on his own.
Doesn't judge you...much - he's done some pretty fucked up things, it comes with his line of work, but being a mercenary is on another level.
Your sense of humour piques his interest, his humour is dark at the best of times so the fact that you can match his dark comments with some of your own is fine by him.
Don't get it twisted though, if he thinks that you're trying to double-cross his team, he wouldn't hesitate to kill you.
If you were recruited to help 141 on a mission, it would probably mean that the mission was going to be hell on Earth; I can see Shepard hiring you - his intentions were probably never disclosed to you, which makes you trust him less and less.
Given that you're not part of the British Army, your clothing and gear probably wouldn't be similar at all; picture the suits from Black Widow, because Yelena is a goddess~
He definitely hasn't secretly admired your arse when you're not looking - Soap definitely caught him once and was given a glare as a warning to keep his mouth shut.
You'd have to prove yourself to him before he lets himself feel any of the feelings of attraction he has for you - mans has a lot of past trauma that he doesn't want repeated, so until he knows that you're trustworthy, he's going to be cold and calculative as always.
Johnny "Soap" MacTavish
While he may be a generally friendly guy, Johnny is far from stupid; he'll make small-talk with you in the beginning, but knows not to let his guard down - no matter how much your sense of humour makes him chuckle.
Watches you take down 4 soldiers almost twice your size with ease, and almost pops a boner.
If you're anything like Wade, he's a bit of an over-sharer; when you tell him about parts of your past that led to you becoming a mercenary - some parts which may have been slightly traumatic and concerning to hear - with a smile on your face, he's a bit worried for you.
Definitely flirts with you on the regular - Ghost just gives him a blank stare, wondering why Soap likes to gamble with his life since the team barely even know you.
Once you prove that you're trustworthy, he opens up to you more; we've seen how he acts with Ghost, undeterred by the big guy's cold exterior.
He asks to train with you - doesn't mind being thrown to the mats a hundred times over, "I don't mind the view from doon here, like ;D" [doon = down], "Aye, I knew you'd look great on top a' me"
Asks to try out your weapons - some are not too different from his own, while some are quite clearly black-market issue.
All in all, Soap's an easy-going guy - so as long as you don't try to kill him or anyone he cares about, you're golden.
Captain John Price
Another one who doesn't trust you at all.
He's been in the military for a long time, and he's encountered mercenaries from across the globe - most of them weren't the friendly type, especially when they were after the same target.
He's definitely angry when Shepard tells him that you'll be accompanying his team on the next mission; he's offended, for one, as it makes it seem as if his team are incompetent or not skilled enough to go it alone.
Doesn't take his eyes off you for a second - in his eyes, you're not a soldier, you don't abide by legalities and you essentially kill for money so you might as well be a fully-fledged assassin.
Doesn't bat an eyelid at your humour either, and doesn't let his guard down.
Your fighting skills are undeniable - you're very good at what you do, and you're clearly very intelligent, but don't mistake this for respect.
You probably don't show your face at all - revealing your identity would probably incriminate yourself and put yourself and anyone around you in danger; this doesn't phase him, but it makes it harder for him to trust you.
For Price to trust you would take a hell of a lot of work; you'd have to prove yourself, not just in the field but from a moral standpoint too.
If you do manage to prove yourself to him, then he might gradually start to see you in a different light.
Soap may or may not have caught him eyeing you up appreciatively - but a stern look from his Captain shut him up immediately.
Kyle "Gaz" Garrick
I can see Gaz keeping out of your way as much as possible.
Out of everyone in 141, he's the youngest and hasn't been in the military for very long either, so he hasn't encountered mercenaries before.
That being said, he knows what a mercenary is and knows that Price doesn't trust you at all - the fact you were hired by Shepard is questionable in itself, so he keeps his interactions with you to a minimum.
Doesn't know what to make of your humour - sometimes your comedic timing and the things you come out with are quite funny, he can't deny that. But other times, you come out with some twisted shit that makes him wonder about your mental state.
He's naturally curious at to how you went from being a soldier to a mercenary - he doesn't have to ponder for long, sometimes you'd just openly remark about things that happened in your past and he was able to figure it out on his own.
He'd never admit it out loud but watching you rile up Ghost with your sarcastic comments and dark humour was entertaining - even if he did fear for your safety when the hulking soldier was due to blow a gasket.
If you showed him your face, he would be pleasantly surprised - Price definitely gives him the disapproving Dad face whenever he catches Kyle oggling you after that.
Alejandro Vargas
*I used google translate for both Alej, Rudy and Konig so if the translations are wrong I apologise*
Oof, he is angry.
We saw how he reacted with Valeria, he doesn't like soldiers who turn their back on morality for money.
He doesn't even attempt to hide his distaste for you.
"Eres un maldito traidor y un asesino." ["You are a fucking traitor and a murderer."]
Finds out you're working with 141 and he's just >:(
"¡¿Por qué diablos están aquí?!" ["Why the fuck are they here?!"]
Warns you that if you betray the team - his friends - that he'd be coming for you, and he would kill you without hesitation.
Your dark humour would probably rub him the wrong way, further solidifying his perception that you were a soldier who walked down a path that you couldn't come back from, "No tienes verguenza?" ["Do you have no shame?"]
I think that even if you did prove yourself, he still wouldn't fully trust you - it would take years for him to look you in the eye with a modicum of respect.
If he sees you getting along well with 141, it might slightly make him think differently of you - especially if Ghost seems to be okay with you being around them.
But it would take him a while to see you as anything other than a killer; "No eres malo, pero recuerda, traicionarnos y estarás muerto antes de que puedas correr." ["You're not bad but remember, betray us and you'll be dead before you can run."
Rudy Parra
Rudy's naturally quite a quiet guy, so I doubt he'd say much to you anyway.
However, this silence doesn't mean acceptance.
He keeps a close eye on you, analysing every move you make.
Would probably ask for your opinion on things when you're on a mission; it's partially out of curiosity, a way to see how your mind works, and other parts to air on the edge of caution because your sense of humour consisted of coming out with some crazy shit.
I reckon if he did trust you, he'd still be very cautious and aware of what you were and what you were capable of; after seeing you take down soldiers like it was nothing, he's inwardly grateful that you were fighting on the same side...for now.
If you let your guard down and told him about aspects of your personal life, it might change his mind a bit - it shows that you're human, you have a life outside all of this...but that being said, he's never seen your face, so you could walk past him in the grocery store and he would never know. It's unnerving.
If you do trust him enough to show your face, he's conflicted; "No te ves como esperaba que te vieras." ["You don't look how I expected you to look.] You look perfectly normal, minus the black paint around your eyes - pretty, even.
Alejandro doesn't like you one bit from the jump, and is constantly hovering around you both like >:(
It'll take a while for Rudy to trust you, but rest assured if you were to break his trust, it wouldn't end well at all - he's a Sergeant Major, and don't let his quiet nature fool you, he too is capable of doing damage.
König
The big guy is unphased - he's a mercenary too, so if he were to judge you then that would make him the biggest hypocrite of all.
Nonetheless, he doesn't trust you either - if you're not from KorTac, and he doesn't know who you are, then he's not letting his guard down at all.
Your sense of humour could go one of two ways with him:
If he's out on the field, and you're making dark jokes and sarcastic comments, then he'll probably laugh and join in; he's a completely different man when he's working, it's what makes him so good at what he does.
But if he's back on base...he's probably going to be a little awkward - the adrenaline's worn off and he's back to being his normal, shy self.
Wants to train with you but is hyperaware of his size and strength - he's seen you take down soldiers his size, but he's still concerned that he'd seriously hurt you.
Pin him to the mat and watch as his eyes widen and he averts his gaze, cheeks heating up under his mask; "Du kämpfst gut." ["You fight well."
There's a slim possibility that he would show you his face - you made the mistake of teasing him and he almost backed out, "Show me yours' and I'll show you mine~"
If you show him your face, he won't be able to look at you the same; how is he supposed to focus now when he knows you're attractive?!

Hi
I was wondering if I could leave a request with you.
Could I please request a platonic Simon ghost Riley x male reader where reader joins the 141 for the very first time and ghost being ghost is very skeptical and I trust worthy of him. But over time during a duo mission they become the bestest friends possible like an inseparable duo.
Please and thank you
yes of course! thank you so much for the request and sorry if it’s a bit weird, it’s been a bit since i’ve written a platonic relationship for a character with a personality like ghost’s…but i hope you like it either way c: hope you’ve been well 💕

Ghost x Male!Reader: The FNG’s Impression
Trigger Warnings: untrusting feelings, is mostly a normal fic
Tumblr media
Being the FNG to a new task force was typically always seen as a bad thing. The decisions made on the first mission is the one that makes that lasting impression on the entirety of the squad, so it usually makes them nervous and less rational. But not you. You have always made it out to prove your worth that you’re able to contribute and follow orders as they’re given. You proved several times that you weren’t some rookie who didn’t know jackshit with each new squad you worked with as you moved up in your ranks. So once you were assigned to Task Force 141 after Captain Price decided after the Hassan situation and betrayal of the former General, Shepherd, that it was time to beef up the squad a bit more.
Upon arrival at their current location, you made a quick effort to greet everyone before the debriefing. “Fuckin’ hell…so this is the guy I’m supposed to be on a duo mission with?” Simon mutters to Kyle as he stares at you. “Easy now, I’m sure he’ll be a good addition to the team.” Kyle says, uncrossing his arms to wave at you as you walk into the tent with Captain Price and Farah. “He doesn't seem trustworthy, something feels off about him.” Simon says, walking towards the barracks. “You’re being too judgemental mate! I know when we were working with Graves that suspicion wasn’t really there because he was Shepherd’s recommendation, but that’s all over now.” Kyle says, following behind him.
“Doesn’t matter. Someone with an extensive file like his being that chipper ain’t exactly a good thing.” Simon says. “The two of you taking the piss outta the new guy or something?” Johnny asks, sitting up once Simon flicked the lights of the barracks on. “Simon’s just being an old man and complaining about how the new guy doesn’t seem trustworthy.” Kyle says, shaking his head. “Aye, you think so? I kinda had the same feeling.” Johnny says, scratching his chin. “Really? Surprising—considering that’s how you were when you joined the team.” Kyle says, causing Johnny to scowl at him. “Away ‘n bile yer heid.” he says curtly. “What?” Kyle asks. “He said ‘Go fuck yourself,’ Kyle.” Simon says, a soft scoff escaping his lips.
Knowing full well it was a laugh, Johnny just grinned at him. “Oh shove it up yours MacTavish. You two are being a little harsh to him and all he said to you was ‘Hello, I can’t wait to work with you guys. Let’s be sure to do our best.’ Don’t you think we should, oh I don’t know, not be suspicious?” Kyle says. As he finishes saying that, they all immediately turn and look at the door as it opens and reveals you standing there. “Oh! You guys were probably talking about something private, I’ll head out and let you guys keep talking.” you say, freezing up. “No, no, it’s fine. We had just finished talking. Y/N, right? Nice to finally meet you.” Kyle says.
He walks over to you, that same friendly smile from earlier on his face as his hand extends towards you. “Nice to meet you too, Kyle. Hope to do my absolute best on this mission with Simon here.” you say, giving Simon a smile as you shake Kyle’s hand. “Call me Lieutenant. You and I aren’t on a first name basis.” Simon says coldly, his eyes narrowed as he glared daggers into you. “Alright Lieutenant. So, uh, is it okay if I can go to sleep here?” you ask. “Of course you can, you don’t have to ask us to go to sleep. What time are you two being dropped off?” Kyle asks. “We’re being dropped at 0600 sharp so I’m gonna get some rest before 0500 to be ready by then.” you say.
“You’re a meticulous one, aren’t you?” Johnny asks, causing you to look at him. “Well yeah I mean…it kinda comes with the field doesn’t it? No room for error.” you say. “And that’s what got you to provide good overwatch as a sniper?” Johnny asks again. “Oh yeah. Hopefully I’ll be able to be as good as the Lieutenant here. I really can’t wait for these next few months working with you all.” you say excitedly. “Don’t get too excited. We aren’t exactly sure what the two of us are getting into. Can you keep yourself level headed?” Simon asks. “I have a pretty good record for a reason, Lieutenant—my head’s as level as it’s gonna be.” you say. “Alright, I think I’m starting to like the new guy now. Welcome to the 141, Y/N.” Johnny says.
Soon enough after a bit more banter, all of you find yourselves getting to bed. Obviously still uneasy, Simon finds himself staying awake just a bit longer to make sure you don’t try and do anything whilst the others sleep. Once he sees you’re not thinking of trying anything, he eventually lets himself drift off to sleep until it was time to get up and head out for the mission in the morning. You’re obviously the first one to get up and ready, so when Simon feels you gently shaking him awake, it causes him to open his eyes out of a slight panic and tightly grip your wrist. “H-Hey! Easy now Lieutenant, you’re gonna break the hand I need!” you whisper yell. Simon then scowls at you through the darkness, letting go of your wrist.
You rub at it to relieve some of the remaining pain and pressure, walking out to the weapons wall to get your assigned sniper rifle and pistol, both of which are already equipped with suppressors. Simon eventually joins you, grabbing a suppressed pistol and automatic rifle. “Let’s do some good work out there, Lieutenant.” you say, giving him a friendly bump on the shoulder before you walk towards the hangar. Simon just groans and follows after you begrudgingly. He was most certainly not looking forward to these next few months with you, especially not the first day of your mission. He felt like you were an annoyance by how friendly you were making yourself out to be and he honestly just wasn’t having it.
You didn’t talk to him the entire time you waited to be dropped off by Nikolai, wanting to keep yourself calm and collected. Once you were dropped off, Nikolai bid the both of you farewell and wished you luck. “Bravo 0-7 and 3-6 this is Watcher-1. How copy?” a woman’s voice, one of which you recognized as C.I.A agent Kate Laswell, asks through the comms. “This is Bravo 0-7. We’ve landed in the DZ and are ready for infil.” Simon says, making you excited and ramped up for this first mission. “On your TacMap are all six buildings you’ll need to infiltrate to find any and all information that’ll help us get our leads on Makarov. Luckily for you, there aren’t many guards patrolling the compound—make your way in and use what little darkness you have left to ensure your safety. If you’re compromised you’ll need to make your way to the EZ where Nikolai will come and get you.” Laswell says. “Understood.” Simon acknowledges.
You make your way to your designated slope that provides overwatch for a good 85% of the area, hunkering down and hoping your ghillie suit ensures you’re well camouflaged. “Alright, C/S. I don’t reckon you’ll make a good impression on Price and Laswell if you so let me get a scratch by not doing your job. On my signal, you’ll take out any and all guards that are surrounding me, got it?” Simon says into the comms. “Yes, Lieutenant Ghost. I won’t let a single one come near you—I’ll alert you if I see any you can’t and take them out before they get to you.” you reassure. “Take out the guards in the North and South outposts. Know how many notches that’ll be?” Simon asks, questioning your ability and knowledge. “Three and a half notches for both. I’m taking the shots now.” you say. Holding your breath to keep your aim steady, you first take your shot at the guard stationed south before taking out the one up north.
Mildly impressed by this, Simon takes note of your clear ability to follow orders and prove your intelligence. “I’m moving to building Alpha. Do you see any guards I should be aware of?” he asks. “Negative, you’re clear to move in.” you say. You keep your eye on Simon, watching him scale the building through the windows. “See anything in there Lieutenant?” you ask softly. “Negative. Is there anyone coming near Alpha, Sergeant?” Simon asks. “Not a thing, you’re clear to move out now.” you reassure. This then goes on for the rest of the morning, with you both having to take extra precautions now that the sun has come up.
At this point, Simon’s become impressed by you, but now he thinks you’re being a bit of a kiss-ass. “Is this really how you act all the time?” he asks rudely as you wait at the EZ for Nikolai to arrive. “It’s how I am with people I haven’t worked or met with yet—like you guys. Once I’m closer to people is when I start to kind of act like a dick.” you say. “That right?” Simon asks, shaking his head. “What, don’t believe me?” you ask, crossing your arms as you sling your sniper on your shoulder. “Not at all. I better see that exact behavior then the further along you and I keep going on these missions.” Simon says. You grin at him, crossing your arms against your chest. “I think you’re warming up to me, Lieutenant Ghost.” you say cheekily. “And I think I should kick you in the ass so hard you feel my boot in your throat.” Simon says just as cheekily through his normally gruff voice.
After this, the months would come to pass more and more as you got closer to getting a proper lead on Makarov. The both of you were forced to go radio silent together, as there was a risk that the whole operation would be compromised. This left you less monitored during subsequent missions and you’d come to prove that you were more than capable of saving Simon’s ass because that’s all you did. Sure, he’s saved yours a couple of times, however it was mostly you making sure he didn’t so much as get a single scratch on him. You’d also, in turn, begun to treat him like you said you would; a complete dick. Simon liked that, as he figured that it suited you a lot more than trying to be some kiss-ass.
“Ghost, C/S, good to see you lads again.” Price says as the two of you finally walk onto the base of operations they were using. “Good to see you too, Captain. We got a proper lead on Makarov now,” you say as you hand over a manila folder containing all the information regarding the information you and Simon spent months getting. “So, how was he?” Price asks, looking at Simon after scanning the contents of the folder for a bit. “I’d say he’s a right good fellow. Perfect fit for the 141.” Simon says, making you content. “And how was it with Simon?” Price asks you this time. “All I can say is that the old dog’s got some soft spots in him. Couple blind spots too, think he needs to get his eyes checked.” you joke, making Simon elbow you in the ribs. “Easy now, pup, I reckon I can still kick your ass.” he says.
“Simon! Y/N! How the hell did you guys find where we were? The two of you went radio silent on us.” Kyle says, going and shaking your hand. “Ah, we just followed the North Star and managed to find you guys.” you say sarcastically. “Haha, very funny Y/N,” Kyle says, rolling his eyes as a smile crosses his face. “Has he taken a liking to you yet? It took him a bit to take a liking to Johnny and I.” he asks. “Oh yeah. Surely enough I’ll get him to be completely smitten.” you say, playfully nudging at Simon. “You’re not my type.” he says, crossing his arms. You could tell he’s smiling a little behind his balaclava, and it makes you glad to have gained his trust. “Well then, mI’ll be putting the two of you on more missions together.” Price says, nodding at you both before walking away.
Kyle follows after him, leaving you and Simon alone. “Honestly I can’t fathom the thought of you taking a liking to me. I’m pretty sure you don’t even have a heart.” you say, starting to walk away from Simon. “Oh I have a heart all right, I just keep it frozen and locked in a box.” Simon says as he follows after you. “Sounds like something out of those freak shows they show on tv.” you say, laughing a bit. “Careful, that might just be you someday.” Simon jokes. “What’s that supposed to mean, Lt.?” you ask, no longer walking. Simon simply goes quiet and keeps walking once you stop walking. “Hey! What the hell’s that supposed to mean?!” you exclaim.

pink glossy lips. pink glossy lips that wrapped around the lips of the beer bottle, the fowl taste travels down your throat and into your tummy.
your friends are all laughing and drinking and eating the baskets of wings that sit in the middle of the table, forks poking into wing after wing and shoving messy wings into their own mouths, sauce smearing on the corners of their lips but they’re too intoxicated to care. your slower though as you pick at a wing, cleaner with the sauce unlike your friends.
you weren’t one for drinking. not at all, actually. you’ve drank maybe once or twice before, but those times were on new years and your grandmothers birthday party where she wanted to give you alcohol at only eight years old. she thought it would be funny, to “expose you to the real world.” at that time you swore to never drink alcohol again. that was before you made friendships with this group. the group that peer pressured you into drinking several different types of alcohol, that you later threw up on the sidewalk walking home.
your outfit tonight was pink. like the innocence that dappled on your cheeks and the innocence on your plush lips. thats what caught his eye from across the bar. he almost spilt the drink he was shaking on himself from the distraction of you. you, a mere stranger to him. a cute stranger with the cutest little plumpest belly. your color palette was pink and white, even the color of innocence. couldn’t he wait to get that little white crop top off of you…
you visibly cringe as another quarter of the bottle enters your insides, and it tastes as awful as ever. your onto your third wing of the night, the powerful flavors burst in your mouth making your eyes widen. you reach for your water to only find out it being the beer.
you spit it back in the bottle in a panic, it doesn't really soothe the heat the wing brought to you. you hear a soft giggle behind you, one you don’t recognize. all your friends are completely oblivious to the outside world, the world that welcomes you with an inviting hand. so, you take it.
“you seem very uncomfortable there. are you a drinker?” the red haired boy asks you, a soft smile on his lips. god, he can’t wait.
“er… no.” you say, climbing out of the booth with the help of a stranger, wearing a shirt with “buffalo wild wings” in big white letters on the front. you conclude that he works here.
“if you want, i could mix you up a drink if you want. its a simple little drink i highly recommend for new drinkers.”
seems trustworthy enough.
you blindly follow your savior to the empty bar, where he slips behind and starts fumbling with the bottles. the sounds around you disappear as you focus on the soft clinks of the bottles as he hunts for what he needs.
“so what’s your name?” he asks.
“y/n.” you respond, arms rested on the smooth bar counter.
“im yangyang.” he says, turning around with a bottle im hand, flashing you a precious, gummy smile. if only you knew. “unfortunately i'm missing another component of the drink. want to come to the storage room with me?” he points over his shoulder to a direction you can only assume is the storage room he talked about. “i’m sure i can sneak you in.” he chuckles and leaves the safety of the bar, and wraps around to your barstool. he offers a black polished set of nails.
“oh sure.” you say, hopping off of the stool with his assistance. you feel like two little kids on their way to a magical journey.
the storage room was only several footsteps away as all you really had to do was traverse through the high-top dwellers as they munch on their wings and adding to their collection of glass bottles for the poor servers and bussers to collect.
the two of you disappear into the storage room and yangyang closes the door behind him and twists the lock.
he sets the bottle from the bar onto one of the backup tables that were shoved against the wall across from the door.
“sit here.” he hoists you up on one of the low washing machines, catching a little sight of the mess underneath that little pink plaid skirt, your little pink undies that he couldn’t wait to rip off. your legs swinging back and forth, careful not to smack the washer too hard and break it, watching as he hunts for the final bottle. “so, were those guys your friends?”
“you can say that.” you reply, jumping at the sounds of the corks popping off, one of them skyrocketing and smacking the ceiling of the room, earning a childish and amused giggle from you.
so innocent. “so you don’t drink, but they brought you for some drinks?” you nod slowly, and watch as he frowns and pours small amounts of both bottles into a shaker, and he mixes the drinks. it doesn't take him very long, so he adds a little cherry to the top and a ring of hershey's syrup. “this is what i call a chocolate vanilla drink. it’s my specialty, and its very popular with non-drinkers.” he stands in front of you, and hands you the glass of the alcohol.
you tip the glass up and you already cringe, expecting a fowl and nasty taste. but instead you're greeted with a pleasant taste. a vanilla taste with hints of chocolate and even strawberries. it was like a perfect haven of flavors.
“whaddya think?” he asks, positioning himself in between your legs, and watches as you take another sip. “good enough for another sip i see.” he comments, a smug smirk on his face. “let me have a taste.” he says, but you were mid sip. so the logical solution?
he presses his lips to yours. you almost choked on the drink, but he takes it from you. the drink gets thrown back and forth between your mouths before he steals all the alcohol and swallows it. when you pull away, he helps you down from the washing machine. he grabs your hand and leads you to the table the bottles were just on earlier.
“bend over.” he commands, which, you do. intoxicated by his alcohol and intoxicated with his presence, you can’t really disobey him. you couldn’t push him away, even if you wanted to.
you feel him push up your skirt, his hands groping your plush ass and slaps his hand across your cheeks. you feel his warm breath against your hole, his fingers reaching to move your panties out of his way and let it fall to your ankles.
you suck in your teeth as the cool air hits the hole in between your cheeks, clenching and unclenching nothing. your body knew exactly what it wanted. his tongue makes contact with your hole, drunken moans escaping from your glossed lips, fueling the boner that was no longer so small.
the warmth of his tongue makes your legs shake and your unsure of the stability of your legs let alone the table. the loss of his tongue makes you whimper in defeat to only have it replaced by his long, slender fingers that you clench onto immediately.
“fuck, so tight.” he groans. “imagine when i shove my cock into that cute little hole of yours. think you can take it?” he swaps his fingers with his tongue and his fingers snake up to your pussy folds, his two fingers rubbing circles and threatening to enter.
“oh please.” you beg, your arms reaching to below the table, gripping on to the metal legs and support beams for dear dear life, already feeling hella stimulated with just his fingers and skillful tongue. you grind yourself on his face, earning another slap and a squeeze to your ass.
“gon spank this pretty ass of yours red raw.” his voice is muffled from it practically being buried in between your plump cheeks, hand coming in contact for another smack to your rear. he’s smirking as he watches your cheeks jiggle with each hit, and basks in the sounds of your whimpers and cries.
“m’gonna cum!” you cry out, your sweet white liquid coating his hands. you risk a glance back to see his veins visible, the rolled up sleeves of his pearl snapped company shirt absorb your ropes of white, well aware he would have to go back out in public, wearing your cum.
he licks a stripe up your ass, stopping at your hole to lap up the rest of your release, nothing but a smile on his lips as he stood up and pressed his growing bulge to your bent over for him.
“you feel this? this is what you're doing to me. ever since you walked in this joint.” he growls, rubbing himself against you. his hand grips your face and forcefully turns it to make you look at the corner of the room, a small black security camera settled in the tippy top of the crevice, witnessing everything that was happening. “think we can give them a show?”
your forced to oblige to your savior as he fumbles with his belt. your not sure if he’s drunk or just excited because he struggles a little, keeping your begging, begging hole waiting. the zipper of his jeans is loud and its his turn for something to fall to his ankles, his black boxers following his jeans.
“hold tight baby.” he cooes, and you listen to him as your grip on the metal tightens. his tip itself struggles to slip inside your tight tight hole, the stretch was painful and it oozed a little amount of scarlet red blood to drip down your leg. “little princess is a cute little virgin hm? never had a big dick like me hm? don’t worry y/n. you’ll feel better after i’m done with you.” with a growl he pushes himself in slightly more, getting by inch by inch inside of you, slowly stretching you out further and further. the pain was tolerable with the alcohol that surged through your system.
he was finally able to push himself balls-deep inside of you, skin-on skin. he gave you some time to adjust and get used to his size, before slowly pulling out and slamming himself back inside. you stumble forward, but his grip on your waist holds you along with your grip on the table. he slaps another hard smack to your ass, each smack getting harder and each new smack leaving a large white print on your cheeks.
“not gonna let you fall.” he reassures you, pulling out and slamming himself back inside, this time much harder. “little girls gonna get a creampie from her hero.” he says, pressing his nails to your skin to form crescent moons. marks he wished he were permanent. marks to simply claim a cute little stranger as his fuck toy.
you didn’t know what it felt like to have someone shoot a thick seed in you. but you began to grind yourself on his hips to get closer to your curiosity, but another sharp sting and you cry out as he spanks you again.
“please.” you whine out, unsure of what you were begging for. his thrusts became more violent and more aggressive to you, your worst fear becoming true: the table underneath you snapped.
you were almost sent to the floor when his strong arms wrapped around you, keeping you up. “said i wasn’t gonna let you fall.” he grumbles, using his hands to make you stand up, flipped you around, and pressed you to the wall. this new angle allowed him to push even deeper inside of you, the wall muffling your moans as he pressed his hand to your face. “fuck.” he groans, pressing his lips to your neck, his teeth capturing your skin and sucking on it gently. “m’gonna cum. ready for it babygirl?” the pet name rang in your ear, your legs are on the verge of snapping and letting you fall. his free hand slipped forward to rub your pussy, his fingers pinching your clitoris, giving you another sensation.
“i’m about to cum.” you shriek, your hands pressed against the wall, trying to grip on to nothing as he was slamming into you. you cum on his cock and on his fingers, which was like sending him into a frenzy.
his thrusts quickened, and he felt his high coming closer and closer. finally, he came inside of you, feeling his seed mix with yours and drip down your legs.
“looking so pretty for me.” he whispers in your ear, his hand massaging your folds peacefully, helping you ride out your high.
“perhaps,” you begin, speaking with heavy breaths, “i should drink alcohol more.”

I threw back the remnants of my whiskey and sighed with the pleasant burn. I wasn’t exactly having the best evening and I entirely blamed Jimin for it. And Tae too, he wasn’t about to get off scot-free. I wasn’t even supposed to be in Dynamite tonight and the incessant buzzing of my phone in my pocket kept reminding me that I was sorely needed in The Rose to deal with a difficult customer.
The longer I stood in the hallway leaning against a wall waiting for Taehyung to show up, the more nervous and pissier I was growing. Someone kept blowing up my phone as if that was going to get me there faster, when I had to take over from Namjoon to deliver these documents and Taehyung was late. I tapped my foot on the floor impatiently and hypnotised the corner leading to back to the club with my eyes. It was just one of those nights.
Ten minutes later I finally lost my patience and made my way back into the main room and beelined straight for the bar.
“Hyung,” Yeonjun greeted me as soon as I got there and automatically reached for my favourite whiskey, “Rough night?” I just hummed, too frustrated by the absolute shitstorm today was to keep up the friendly chatter.
“Some fucker’s tearing apart The Rose because Jimin messed up and Tae’s late,” I grumbled and accepted the glass gratefully. I kicked it back in a single gulp and handed the glass back along with the folder of documents. Yeonjun looked at it confused but accepted it nonetheless.
“Give this to Taehyung once he finally gets here, thanks,” I said and immediately turned to leave. It didn’t sit well with me leaving it here just like that, but Yeonjun was trustworthy, the kid’s proven himself a few times since he started working the bar here, so I at least felt a little consoled by that. And if he did try to fuck me over, I knew who I left it with last, so it would be fucking stupid.
My phone started buzzing again, but this time it was a phone call. Jimin. I gritted my teeth and moved back to the empty hallway to take it.
“Hyung, please, Mr. Cho is going to kill me,” Jimin pleaded immediately, “He’s been asking for you for the past 30 minutes.”
“You were the one that messed up his order, Jimin,” I said irritated, “You should deal with it.” There was a beat of silence which allowed me to hear the distant screaming in the background.
“I know, hyung, I’m sorry, it won’t happen again,” the blond man answered, and he sounded so genuinely remorseful, I didn’t have it in myself to keep scolding him. I let out a sigh and took it a bit easier on him.
“I told you to check the goods,” I chided him a bit more gently, “and to make sure you’re working with reliable sources. You sold him subpar shit for the full price. We can’t have that happening at The Rose.”
“I know, hyung,” Jimin repeated, and I could hear his pout through the phone, “I’m going to deal with Dongwook once I’m done here.” I smiled a little at that. Jimin often fooled people into thinking he’s soft and weak with his angelic looks, but he was a force to be reckoned with once crossed. So many have tried to fuck him over thinking he’s the weakest link only to be very painfully proven wrong by him.
“Take Kookie with you, I think he’s with Namjoon right now,” I told him simply, much less angry than when the conversation started. I checked my watch again. Taehyung was still nowhere to be seen, even though he told me he’d be here almost a half hour ago. Jimin on the other side of the phone just hummed.
“Do you know where Taehyung is?” I asked him, some frustration making it back into my voice, “I’m going to have to teach him what 30 minutes mean.” Jimin started answering but was cut off by aggressive knocking on a door somewhere in his background.
“Oh no,” he just said, “That’s definitely Mr. Cho. When are you going to get here?” I sighed and pinched the root of my nose.
“Put him on the phone,” I told him and leaned fully on the wall to prepare myself for this. There was some shuffling, muffled screaming, then the door opened and suddenly I could hear the man yelling at full volume. Jimin told him something and it made him calm down a little. Then I could hear heavy breathing.
“Mr. Min,” Cho growled into the receiver, “Explain yourself. I paid full buck for this shit, it’s barely consumable. I gave it to my boys and they barely even touched it.”
“Calm down Mr. Cho,” I said calmly, “Jimin made a mistake by not checking it over, but there seems to be some attempt from our suppliers to fuck us over. We’re thoroughly investigating it now, my apologies. If you could wait a few days, I’ll get you your usual. And a guaranteed discount on the next batch.” Technically, I wasn’t even lying. There was an attempt to fuck us over, only they weren’t our usual suppliers, they were some ghouls Jimin was trying out. I warned him to be sure they’re trustworthy and he assured me everything was under control. Sure seems like it…
“Fine,” Mr. Cho finally gritted out, “You’re so fucking lucky your services are otherwise top-tier, or else I’d you have you swimming with the fish.” I fought to supress a scoff. Mr. Cho has always been like this, all bark no balls. He loved to threaten others as if he had some power, but all he had was a hefty inheritance that has thinned considerably through the years he spent getting high in my clubs. Always quick to blow up and throw his name around, but calmed down the moment he spoke to me cause he knew I wouldn’t tolerate his bullshit.
Jimin fucking hated him and hated dealing with him, cause he’d always get yelled at for everything, but it would get resolved the moment I’d get involved even though I said the same thing Jimin did just moments before me. Mr. Cho would always grumble and make vague threats, but ultimately go with it cause he knew if one of us had the power to make people disappear in the river, it was definitely me. That’s why I occasionally took the time to remind him of his place.
“Be careful with your words, Mr. Cho, to some they could be taken as a provocation,” I warned him with a faux friendly tone, “Give the phone back to Jimin.” The order was clear, and Mr. Cho didn’t even argue more, thoroughly settled and not interested in getting into more trouble. There was some shuffling and then Jimin was back on the line.
“Hyung, thank you,” he heaved a sigh of relief as the door slammed shut on his side, “He just left. I don’t fucking understand why he always needs to hear from you when I tell him the same shit. What did you tell him anyway? He deflated like a carnival balloon.” Jimin chuckled a little and I hummed.
“The usual stuff,” I answered vaguely, “I gotta go now. If you hear from Taehyung, tell him he’s dead meat.” With that I hung up and went back to the bar.
Only, I stopped dead in my tracks on the way over. There, sitting on a bar looking incredibly out of place in plain t-shirt and jeans, sipping on a drink and watching the dancefloor with intense displeasure, was a quite familiar face.
Immediately on my return from the station last week I had Jungkook run a background check on the new officer in the force. I was surprised I managed to miss they got a newbie, but now I was as familiar with her as she was with me. What I didn’t expect though, was running into her in one of my clubs. I took a moment to watch her, coming up with a strategy on how to deal with this. Either she’s here undercover or she’s a naughty cop and wants something. And finding out which one would infinitely improve my day.
Mood instantly better at the prospect, I made my way over to her side. Looking back, I had no idea I was about to step into something that changed the course of my entire life.
In terms of first meetings, it was a tense one. Surprisingly, I found her quite easy to read, with her pursed lips in annoyance and fire in her eyes. She had the aura of a new young cop, eager to prove themselves, eager to solve all crime. It made me want to mess with her.
Every fibre of her being just screamed ambition and conviction, and even though I could see her naivety, I sensed the sharp edge that she was carrying inside. I knew, this was a person that has fought for everything, and they would continue to claw their way up until they tore themselves a piece of the world they deserved. In shock I realised I saw a little bit of my younger self in her, which forced a surprised laugh out of me. We both strived for different things, but I recognised the emotion with startling clarity.
Maybe that was what led me to talking more openly than I usually did. But somewhere deep down I needed her to understand. The world isn’t what she wants it to be, especially not in these parts. The sooner she would realise that the easier it would be to swallow.

Really, I shouldn’t even have been surprised when one day Jungkook came into my office with a tablet in hand and a serious look on his face. I immediately turned away from my notebook and leaned to the side, preparing myself for whatever he had to show me.
When the tablet finally did make it in front my face, it was a picture of a black, old and slightly banged up car. The car that we’ve noticed cruising suspiciously around a little too much. Jungkook’s tattooed finger swiped right and the next picture showed a close up of a driver taken probably from some nearby security camera. It was our little friendly neighbourhood police officer.
I smirked to myself. So, it seems she does not in fact know how to step away from things that might prove to be a little too much for someone with her ambition. I hummed to myself a little, not knowing whether I was disapproving or impressed at her continued ignorance despite my warnings.
Jungkook swiped one last time to a document showing the license plate being registered to her name. I laughed and leaned back, making myself comfortable in the chair. Jungkook, on the other hand, sighed and put the tablet away.
“What do you wanna do about that?” he asked seemingly neutral, but I knew the look on his face. It was the kind of disapproval I saw in him often when police force was involved. He believed I should be more careful and not toe the line with the detectives this much. Jungkook already knew I wouldn’t ask for him to deal with it, but that I would let things progress naturally, and he was preparing himself for swallowing the order down even though his opinions differed.
“Jungkookie…” I sighed, “What am I supposed to say when you look at me like that?” I teased him gently, giving him a little smile.
“Hyung, you know how I feel about this,” he explained softly, looking a little more like a kid when he pursed his lips like that. I often felt guilty about pulling him into this shit all those years ago, no matter how much Jimin insisted the kid’s okay with it, that’s why I always treasured those moments when it was just the two of us, when Jungkook would stop being the mad dog protecting a criminal and go back to a youngster playing around with his hyung. I patted his shoulder and tried to look as reassuring as possible.
“It’s fine, Jungkookie,” I assured him, “I’m not gonna get in trouble.” He looked at me like a kid that already knew the Santa wasn’t real and felt insulted his parents still tried to bullshit him every Christmas.
“You’re playing with fire too much,” Jungkook answered petulantly, “You’re making my job infinitely more difficult.” I sighed and stood up. Jungkook had a sudden growth spurt some years ago and now towered over me like a mountain, so I found myself looking up even though I wanted to console him. I gently clasped my hands over both of his shoulders and smiled again.
“It’s going to be okay,” I whispered, “I swear. I know what I’m doing.” He frowned but ultimately said nothing.
“Let her be for some time,” I ended up declaring after a moment of silence, “I want to know what she’s doing. What she wants to know. Then we decide what to do next.” Jungkook tensely nodded and looked out of the window with a grumpy face. I laughed at him a little and patted his head. That set his mood a little better.
“Do you think they’re back to tailing us?” he asked eventually. I had gone back to looking over the email I had been in the middle of answering, so I looked up at the younger man surprised he chose to continue with the subject.
“Hard to say,” I hummed thoughtfully, “I don’t think so. She’s not using the official police car, but hers. I bet she’s on her own.” I wondered what she was trying to do, following me for days. With a slight smile I looked out of the window and zeroed in on her car parked a little ways away from the building, but still within eyesight.
What game are you playing, officer?
In the end Jungkook didn’t let me allow her to stalk us longer than a few days before he started pushing me to deal with it properly. There wasn’t a clear read of what her goal was, which disappointed me a little. I doubt she was in it just to follow me around and watch me run errands, but maybe I was expecting a little more than she actually planned on achieving. I didn’t know why that bummed me out so much and I didn’t want to dwell on it, lest I start sinking into some uncomfortable realisations.
I was aware that part of this sudden sympathy was coming from knowing her personal history, and I couldn’t have that. Not when her story was so similar to my boys, not when it made me soft while dealing with potential danger to everything we worked so hard for.
She was the other side of the coin of kids growing up on the street – you either end up a criminal or the police. Her injustice made her want to solve everything wrong with this world. Our injustice made us realise the perfect way to exploit a broken system. But really, we were both one and the same, born from the same mud and moulded by the same violence.
In some way, it made it even harder for me to understand how she could stand on the side of the law.
But in the end, I did have to deal with it. Except I wouldn’t. Few days later when I was sitting in my office with clear view of her car and Jungkook’s burning eyes throwing daggers my way, I decided it was time to test her a little. Just a little push wouldn’t hurt.
I went out the side door, the one I knew she wasn’t aware of so I could give her a little surprise. And I wasn’t disappointed. Laughing at her frustration was easy, toying with her notebook and watching her nervously eye me was easy, teasing her was easy, and before I knew it, it slipped out.
“Good job. Try a bit harder next time, though.”
The second I said it I knew Jungkook was absolutely going to whoop my ass and Namjoon will wholeheartedly agree that I deserve a good thrashing. But I also had my own game and the burning of her eyes when she internally cursed me out made me want to see where this one was going. I left with a pep in my step even though I felt Jungkook’s disapproving aura.
“Relax, Kookie,” I told him once we were comfortably sat in our car, “We just need to know where exactly she’s going with this.” The man just stared at me blankly before resigning on this.
“Fine, but if I think she’s getting too close, I’ll report her to the police for stalking and harassment,” he growled and sulked the entire rest of the way. I couldn’t even tell him not to do that, so I conceded on it. We both knew what the stakes were.
Tumblr media
“We haven’t been visited by our blue friends in a while,” commented Taehyung one normal Saturday and thus cursed it into existence, as not even ten minutes later Jungkook got a call the cops are demanding entrance into Pied Piper.
I groaned and leaned my head on the top of the couch, as the two youngsters started bickering.
“You just had to fucking jinx it,” Jungkook whined and Taehyung laughed at him. “We were all thinking it!” was his defence while popping fruits in his mouth. I tried to just disappear into the sofa. Today I was not in the mood for the police at all.
“God, why now,” I allowed myself to whine out and pout a little, giving them a little rare cute display of displeasure. I was fucking exhausted, it was one hell of a week dealing with the mess Jimin made.
The rats were trying to dodge us and make a run for it, maybe seek help from one of our rival gangs, but I had Jimin and Hobi track them down before the end of the week. As usual, Hoseok worked his magic and found them within two days, but the problem was they already moved onto enemy turf. And if I didn’t want this to turn into a big mess, I had to bargain them out. So I spent the week going back and forth with the Kims. First I tried being nice, explaining to them I will deal with this and it will be easier for all involved if they just move over and let us do our thing, until I ultimately had to subtly threaten them to get the fuck out of my way or we burn our path through their ranks too. I had just enough of snarky interactions for one week.
I swore that once this has been dealt with, I would fucking tear Jimin into two and the man was very well aware of that, so he has been acting cute and sending me little gifts, teasingly telling me he’s “trying to get back into my good graces”. That did put a little smile on my face again, as I did have a huge soft spot for him, and gave me tiny bit of energy to deal with this tonight. I sighed. The sooner this is over the better. I resignedly gestured at Jungkook, and he immediately called back to allow them entry.
“I bet you 200 bucks the other half is trying to mess with the dinner the mayor planned for today in your hotel’s restaurant,” Taehyung said eagerly, moving closer to us to look at us expectantly. I looked towards Jungkook, too tired to play this game and kind of hoping for him to take the lead, but he only shrugged.
“Ugh, I think it might be The Rose,” I said eventually when the silence stretched on for too long, “they may have caught wind of the scene Mr. Cho made there.” We both looked at Jungkook again, but he didn’t say anything and just threw his hands up in an ‘I have no idea’ gesture.
Few minutes later the bouncer entered the balcony and behind him Jang and lo and behold – officer Lee, our righteous stalker, the warrior of broken laws. Immediately, my mood skyrocketed. Now this should be fun.
“Did we crash a funeral or what? What’s with the fits?”
That startled a laugh out of me. What an entrance. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Taehyung leaning forward in interest and immediately knew that these two, if given the chance, are going to be the biggest menaces and pains in my ass.
I’ll be honest, I did want to test her a little. Find out how strong her resolve actually is and how good she is at reading the room. While Jang pissed me off and kept his mouth running, I focused on her body language and facial expressions, which was a beautiful blend of resistance and nervousness. I thoroughly enjoyed the uneasiness with which she was watching everything around her, no doubt remembering our first official meeting. “No one is above the law”? Well, look at you now, officer. Unwittingly I smirked into my glass.
This time, I took my time to ease into the teasing and tested her reaction to little quips here and there. I knew she wouldn’t want me to go talking about the time she spent lurking in front of my office, ever since I confirmed her actions weren’t sanctioned by the department, so I tried an inconspicuous little remark about it.
I wasn’t disappointed.
It took me years to perfect “the stare”. The maknaes especially always made fun of it, but even they couldn’t deny it worked. While yes, part of it was an intimidation technique, but what I truly was interested in was the person’s reaction and, inevitably, when they met my eyes, what I would find reflected in them. Cowards wouldn’t meet my eyes at all, those who tried to put up a fight but ultimately would break under the pressure looked for a moment and then turned away or their eyes flitted around and never stayed on anything for too long. Shifty people who tried to fuck me over also had a specific look to them, I could tell just from a single glance that they were greasy motherfuckers not worth anyone’s while.
What I saw in her eyes when she looked at me head on, was pure fire. For a moment I lamented that she wasn’t on our side, because I would kill to recruit someone like this for us. She was playing it well, and even though I could see her discomfort, there was weight to her stare, and a challenge. From the corner of my eye, I could see Taehyung watching her with rapt interest and even Jungkook seemed to pay more attention. They knew about the trials I sometimes put people through, and would no doubt ask me after the police left what I had seen.
I smiled and relaxed. I could see Taehyung do the same while he leisurely sipped on his margarita. He undeniably already knew. Very well then, for now we would continue playing this game. I even found myself quite eager to see what was in store for us in the next few weeks.
It’s not that the other policemen were bad or lacking, well, some of them were, but particularly Park and Jang, who I’ve seen the most around, they weren’t exactly bad at their job. Just… Park was a little too old-school, he was intelligent and experienced, but left lagging behind the modern world. His eyes spoke of an upright but boring man, a jerk but one that couldn’t care less about some clown sitting in an expensive suit in a club he owned spouting bullshit. That’s why I did quite like the man, I could respect him to some extent, despite everything.
Jang on the other hand, my dislike for him knew no bounds. He was a slimy little shifty fucker, all polite smiles and acting decent, but I’ve dealt with enough scumbags to know not to trust a guy like that. There was something about him that rubbed me the wrong way and made me wary of him; honestly, I was just waiting for him to slip up to deal with him.
When they left, just as I expected, Taehyung leaned towards me and whispered: “So that was quite good.” I hummed and kept my eyes trained on the stairs. Jungkook had left to deal with the situation at the office, where presumably Namjoon had been going through another impromptu interview, so we were the only ones left in the club.
“It was definitely interesting,” I answered finally. This time it was Taehyung that hummed.
“So it’s safe to say we’re not getting rid of her that easily,” he mused out loud in between chomping on strawberries and sipping on a fresh drink. I snorted and looked at him. I gestured at Soobin, who was left here by Jungkook to supervise over me until he either returns or I go home, and he nodded and made his way back to the bar to get me another whiskey.
“No, I think we’ve only just begun.”
I finally checked my phone to see a few messages from Joon and surprisingly even one from Hobi. I scanned through Namjoon’s, which could be summed up to “police showed up, don’t worry I have everything under control”. I wasn’t too sure what Park was trying to achieve by this, but I trusted Namjoon to deal with these things completely. We’ve been by each other’s side for as long as I could remember and we’ve seen it all together, I knew his capabilities and there wasn’t anything the police could do to move him.
Taking the fresh whiskey from Soobin who had just returned, I opened the chat with Hobi. His message was short, simple and perfectly ominous.
Hope, 19:22: got em hyung, me w/ boys gonna deal with it 2nite
I smiled and sipped the cool drink, at long last able to fully relax into the couch and just let the background hum of music lull me into a state of comfortable calm. At least one thing would be handled. Next to me I could hear Taehyung make mindless conversation with Soobin, but at that point I was already half asleep. With a slight smirk on my lips, I took another sip and knew. No one would fuck with me.

“Is it just me or we haven’t seen our little detective in a while?” Tae asked while leisurely lying on a sofa in my office. Seokjin turned to him and then back to me to gauge my reaction. I made sure to keep my face neutral as I returned his stare.
“Last time you said that they showed up like ten minutes later,” I murmured looking out of the window on the snowy streets as if expecting the police van to materialise out of thin air.
“Yeah, well, she hasn’t been around for a hot minute,” Taehyung reiterated, his eyes jumping between his two hyungs and waiting would take the bait and entertain him with a conversation, “There was a week when hyung couldn’t even piss without her knowing about it.”
“Why are you so interested in that?” Seokjin asked neutrally, leaned against a bookshelf on the wall opposite of the sofa, “All I hear from Jungkook is grumbling that Yoongi’s being stupid and it’s a safety concern.” I scoffed and looked back towards the two men.
“It’s hardly that,” I said calmly, “I don’t know what he’s expecting me to do, she’s still the police. She’s breaking the laws, yes, which is hilarious by the way, but I’m not petty enough to go through the whole ordeal of reporting her just for sniffing around our business a little.” Seokjin gave me a look, a look that was so specific to him and exactly what I’d been afraid of, that I just dodged his eyes for my own sanity. I hoped Taehyung would keep his mouth shut because Jin, even though he acted silly a lot of the times, had the clairvoyant gift of perfectly guessing what was going through our heads at any given moment. I quickly spun around and averted his gaze despite the fact that it made me look even more suspicious. I just had to keep him from saying anything while Taehyung was still here, because the younger man could not keep himself from telling all the hyungs and Jungkook everything and I had no intention of being discussed like that.
“When is Hobi getting here?” I decided to change the subject. There was a moment of silence, and I could almost see Jin sending Tae warning glances to not bring it up anymore even though I had my back turned to them.
“He should be here in a few,” Seokjin answered at last and brought over to my table the cup of tea he was making, “It’s supposed to be a calming mix. It might not do much, but it’s better than whiskey.” I thanked him politely and the room slipped into silence again as I sipped it slowly while Jin watched me like a hawk.
Suddenly there was a groan coming from the sofa and Taehyung was clambering to his feet. “I can’t fucking take it anymore, I’m so bored,” he whined and skipped over to my table, “hyungs, let’s do something.” He did the thing when he tried to be cute (he was cute, but I made it my personal goal to never tell him or he’ll take advantage of it), started pouting and grabbed my shoulder lightly.
“Go take a walk then, he needs a moment of rest,” Jin told him resolutely. He clearly decided not to fall for it today, even though he usually indulged the younger man. “After all, that’s why I’m here in the first place.”
Taehyung dropped the cutesy act and teasingly scowled at him before walking back over to the sofa to grab his phone. He just jokingly whined “You can be so mean, hyung” and was gone out the door before anyone could reply anything.
Once the door shut closed, Jin’s full attention suddenly was on me, and I grew a little nervous. He wouldn’t let anything slide and took his role as a doctor and a hyung very seriously, especially since he was the only one who was older than me and thus had a little bit of authority over my stubborn ass. I knew that Jin and Namjoon often consulted each other on how to approach me, Joon would oftentimes notice something and immediately snitch to Jin cause he knew Jin was the only one I allowed to care for me in such a capacity. It wasn’t unusual that Namjoon would raise a concern about my health, and I would tell him it’s nothing, only to have Jin coming to my house later that day, fully informed and prepared to deal with it (and me).
“How’s your migraines been?” Jin decided to play it safe at first, dancing around what he actually wanted to ask.
“Shit,” I replied dryly and squinted my eyes at him. He looked at me with worry and I sighed. “It’s been getting better,” I begrudgingly told him, and he gave me a look a parent gives their annoying child.
“You need to rest more,” Jin started, and I groaned. Once he got into full parent mode and began nagging, nothing could stop him. Poor Kookie had to listen to a 30-minute-long lecture about the risks of smoking every time he only looked in a direction of a cigarette pack, which then almost every time moved on to us for being bad influence on him. Especially Namjoon who was basically glued to a cigarette. I have over the years got out of the habit and now mostly smoked only occasionally, much to Jin’s content.
“I know, I know,” I stopped him and started imitating him, “I need to sleep more and eat better and drink less alcohol, work less and have other hobbies other than hanging out around bars.” Jin gave me an unimpressed look and pursed his lips.
“So sorry for caring for your measly pathetic life, Mr. Bossman,” he retorted sassily and went to sit down on the sofa. Then he pierced me with his eyes again and I knew there was no running from this.
“So what’s all this about?” he asked and I started speaking basically even before he finished. “Nothing.” Jin raised his eyebrow and relaxed into the couch. “Really now?”
“Yes, no matter what Kookie says, I know what I’m doing,” I said resolutely and gave Jin a look that made it clear we would not be speaking on this matter anymore. That softened the man a little and he relented.
“Okay then,” he said softly and smiled at me, “I trust you, Yoongi. I’m just trying to make sure you’re all safe. I would be a fool not to worry about the police.” While I accepted it was a slight dig at my approach to this, I also knew it was the closest I would get to Jin conceding and leaving this subject behind. I smiled at him with all the charm and charisma I could muster, and he just scoffed at me and busied himself with his own mug of tea.
Though I was also a little surprised, just as Taehyung, at the sudden absence of detective Lee. She was everywhere for a whole week and then just suddenly disappeared, but I was anticipating some sort of new plan was abrewing on her part. I supposed it wouldn’t take too long.
Tumblr media
“What do you mean they’re messing with the docks?” I growled into the phone and stomped the cigarette butt into the ground. Namjoon next to me tensed up and also put down his cig only to immediately light up a new one. Hobi on the other side of the phone sighed and apologized.
“It seems that when we stormed them last month some little creative critters managed to slip by us,” the man explained over phone, “They’ve been sabotaging in the docks, stealing cargo and ganging up on some workers here and there, but we’ve got them now. Gonna deal with it tonight.” I scoffed, mildly annoyed but not wanting to take it out on him. Still, I couldn’t stop a little petty remark.
“Funny, I think I already heard that from you once,” I said gruffly and looked over the street to where Jungkook’s car just pulled up. Namjoon waved at me, gestured towards the young man and then set out to welcome him and bring him up to my office.
“I know, hyung, I’m sorry for messing up the first time,” Hobi said with genuine remorse, and I felt like I was inside a one huge déjà vu as he sounded the same as Jimin when he apologised for causing this whole ordeal in the first place. I sighed and softened my voice. After all, this was just a bad month, I knew their abilities.
“It’s fine, I’m just annoyed with how persistent they’re becoming,” I explained to him and also slowly moved towards the office entrance, “who would have thought that they would be this hard to deal with?” Hobi laughed and I heard some shuffling noises from his side, slight murmuring and then a bang of a door.
“It’s good we’ve dealt with them now; they were on a good way to becoming unbelievable menaces. Thank god they trusted themselves enough to mess with us this early while still unprepared for the retaliation, or I bet we’d spend weeks slowly eradicating them like annoying pests.” I laughed at Hobi’s words and nodded even though he couldn’t see me.
“Hubris has a funny way of catching up to you,” I mused quietly, Hobi only humming and then suddenly exclaiming loudly.
“Oh! That’s right!” he shouted out suddenly making me flinch a little. “Christ, Hobi,” I grumbled, “You’re going to make me embarrass myself. What’s up?” The man laughed a little and continued.
“Kookie’s on his way with some very interesting footage you’ll want to see,” the man said mysteriously with a happy lilt to his voice, “We found it when checking the security cameras for the little fuckers messing with our cargo.” I hummed, secretly smiling at the younger man’s antics while waiting for the damn elevator to come to the ground floor.
“He just got here, he’s with Namjoon upstairs. I’m on my way up too,” I told him and finally stepped into the elevator.
“Oh, I better go then,” the man laughed, “I have my plate full here anyway.” With that he hung up and I spent the rest of the ride up building anticipation on what Jungkook wanted to show me.
Upon walking into the office, I found Jungkook already showing something to a smirking Namjoon sitting in my chair. I regarded them both with slight suspicion and then wordlessly made my way to stand next to Jungkook. He immediately put the tablet away and I frowned. He was just about to open his mouth to explain to me, but I beat him to it.
“Hobi already told me you found something on the CCTV, so you can just show me,” I told him gruffly and motioned for him to put the tablet back on the table. He did. With a few quick swipes of his tatted fingers, he presented to me a video. I squinted my eyes at a it a little bit cause it was so dark and hard to see, automatically leaning forward towards the tablet.
It was a view from one of the side alleys by the warehouse we’ve been having troubles with. I was well acquainted with this camera, it was so nicely installed it became practically invisible to anyone who already didn’t know it was there, thus over the years it procured us some very useful evidence. For a moment there was no movement, just a dark alleyway in one of the seedier parts of this city, but then a figure appeared out of the shadows. They were dressed in all black and were slowly slinking by the wall with their eyes trained on something in front of them. We watched it for a few seconds and then the figure turned around and left.
I was just about to question Jungkook, when the man swiped and an enhanced picture of the figure filled the screen. I leaned towards it for a moment and then laughed. It was detective Lee. The picture was grainy and dark, it was quite hard to see, but that was unmistakenly the rookie cop sniffing around.
“The warehouses? What is she doing in the docks?” I speculated out loud.
“I don’t know but I don’t like her sniffing around there,” Jungkook said resolutely, “She’s probably looking for evidence.” I hummed thoughtfully.
“Well, she would have to break into the offices and decode the documents, which would be highly illegal and inadmissible in court, so I doubt she would do that,” I retorted and finally pushed Namjoon out of my chair to sit down, “She’s most likely looking for something specific.” Namjoon leaned over the table and gave us a mischievous smile.
“Or someone specific,” he pointed out. We both looked at him and pondered over it. “She could be just getting the hang of our locations,” Jungkook mused, “I think it’s more probable she just wants to be familiar with the places that we own. Or she thinks we’re just doing illegal shit out in the daylight like a bunch of idiots.” I laughed at that, but the first part of the statement was definitely possible.
“We have to wait for a little more,” I told them both, “She’ll reveal her cards soon.” Jungkook gave me a look but said nothing. Namjoon was just watching us with a smile. I knew the younger man was getting antsy because he cared about my safety and this detective was getting closer than the others. But that was also her weakness – to get more info she abandoned the law, so while yes, she was more determined to find out, but also she was making herself more unreliable to the force and in the eyes of the court. It was a slippery slope for her.
The situation would need some supervision, for sure, but in the end we had the upper hand cause we could report her anytime and cost her the position in the force. I hummed again and smirked.
“We’ll deal with this shortly, don’t worry,” I attempted to soothe the man, “Right now we have to focus on the fiasco with these dealers.” At the change of subject both of the men perked up.
“Do you know anything about how Hobi-hyung wants to go about this?” Namjoon asked Jungkook. They were both standing at the opposite sides of my table looking at each other. Kookie deliberated a little before saying: “He didn’t say much, just that they’re doing it tomorrow. He’s pretty pissed they managed to dodge him, so he’s most probably not gonna be very nice.” To that both me and Namjoon laughed.
“Good,” I said, “They’ve been pissing me off too. Who would have known they would be such pests.”
All three of us shared a look. “Fucking cheers to that,” Jungkook said, and we moved on.
The next day I had gotten a single text from Hobi that sounded very similar to what he texted me last time he went after them. The plan was to surprise them during lunch, storm them quick and blindside them. Ideally it would be over before they ever realised something had hit them. And as someone who had seen Hobi in action before, I knew he was absolutely capable of that.
I was just smoking outside with Namjoon, who was making fun of me that I had gotten back into my habit the whole time he was attempting to light my cigarette, when I got another text.
Hope, 14:49: done
I smiled to myself and patted Joon’s shoulder. He gave me a confused look that melted into satisfied realisation when I winked happily.
Me, 14:51: are you absolutely sure? no more surprises?
Hope, 14:52: no more surprises. i’ll be over in twenty
I pocketed my phone again and stubbed out the cig, lightly slapped Joon’s shoulder again and moved to go back inside. The man followed after me without a word or a question, only gave me a celebratory smile when getting off the elevator a floor beneath my office.
I waited gingerly for the man’s arrival, drinks ready for us and words of gratitude on my tongue. Faithful to his word, he got there in twenty minutes on the dot, bursting into my door with a wide smile, no doubt also happy he managed to teach a lesson to some pesky kids messing about with things way beyond their capabilities.
I clasped a hand on his shoulder and smiled at him.
“Don’t worry, I left no loose ends this time,” was the first thing he said, “though I wish I had more time for clean up, but the cops were called. They’re most probably already there.”
“As long as there’s nothing linking us to them, it’s okay,” I reassured him and pulled us both to the sofa. He shook his head at that.
I trusted Hobi, I knew he was damn good at his job. He was always so excellent at making everything that was causing me headaches disappear, and I felt endless gratitude to the man. For a moment we both just sat there in comfortable silence and sipped our drinks.
I took another swig of whiskey and winced. “Jin would kill me if he saw me right now,” I muttered and Hobi laughed. “It’s for celebration, I’m sure he would understand,” the man joked, knowing full well how obsessed the doctor was with making us all live healthily, even when we all knew it was a losing battle. I snickered again and relaxed into the sofa.
“If the cops are there right now, that means they’ll probably show up here by the evening or early tomorrow,” I mused out loud, already too familiar with their strategies. Hobi agreed with me, but I could see that he was thinking about something else.
“What’s up?” I asked gently. Hobi looked at me and hesitated a little. “I might have to go to Japan for a little bit,” he said eventually. I looked at him in surprise.
“Japan? Why?”
The man reached into his back pocket and pulled out a piece of folded paper. One of the corners was painted with a splatter of blood and the paper was all tired and frayed from whatever it went through.
“He was really trying to make sure I wouldn’t read this, so I made extra sure to get it,” Hobi explained, looking at me observantly and carefully continuing, “And for good reason. I’m sure you yourself recognise this.” He handed me the paper and I slowly unfolded it to not do any more damage to it.
I did recognise it and immediately felt a rush of cold rage hit my bloodstream. Before me, there was a formal invitation to meet with the Watanabe family, one of the smaller suppliers from Japan. They weren’t the ones that we were doing the most business with, but we had a mutual trust to keep out of each other’s way, occasionally help each other out and otherwise not cross each other’s paths.
Whether they knew what these little fucks were planning or not, it seems that a connection between them was established. And as such, I couldn’t let it slide. Especially since the dead rat wanted to keep it secret so bad. There must have been something going on.
For the Watanabes it would be beneficial to try and get us out of the way, since we were blocking their way to most of Seoul, but I couldn’t believe they were this fucking stupid.
“That explains a lot,” I said, reverting back to my business self, “and here I was, thinking we were cordial with each other.” Hobi hummed. I looked at him and let him feel the full force of my anger with the behaviour of our supposed allies.
“Let them know just how disappointed I am with them for me, please,” I told him, voice full of ice. This wasn’t a playground, we weren’t kids messing about in the sandbox. We had to act quickly, before someone got the idea that they could cross our path.
The conversation was a little stunted after that, both of us thinking about the implications of an alliance between these two; so once Hobi finished his drink, he moved to leave, finally deciding it’s time to get back to his boys and make sure everything’s going off without a hitch now. He turned around, mouth opening to tell me one last thing, when he opened the door and promptly bumped into someone. I stood up from the chair, worried for a moment, only to grin wide when I realised who it was.
Hobi had managed to catch the nosy detective before she fell, and I had the best view in the house for when she looked up and realised who was it that she slammed into at my office. As every time, her face was an open book there for everyone to read and I saw it go from apologetic to absolute mortification to some sort of astounded glee. I watched her like a hawk while she stared at Hobi and the wheels in my brain were turning full speed. Huh, could it be?
Even when she snapped out of it and Hobi started to tease her, her eyes remained glued to the man with clarity and determination. If I was a jealous man, I may have even gotten a little angry at the display of open interest, I thought to myself jokingly while I watched them amused. So this was her goal, huh? She was after Hoseok. It did make sense, he would be someone the police found interesting, but he also had considerable experience at dodging them.
Once Hobi left and I could see her gearing up to bullshit me to the max, clearly totally out of her depth here, I decided to test my theory a little bit. But I would need help with that. I gave her a little bait and only waited for her to bite. She did. She didn’t even ask how I knew about what was happening in the docks, just started scrambling to explain herself somehow. I pulled out my phone again and texted the one man I knew could accomplish this.
Me, 16:29: how fast can you get here? need a distractor asap
TaeTae, 16:29: be there in 15 hyung <3
I chuckled a little at his fast reply, but quickly got up to move towards the bar. I had to distract her well and leave her distracted enough to slip a little bug on her. I weaved my web, pulled her in different directions, and I lied.
“We had nothing to do with it,” I said, though I had ordered the strike as retribution. But some things she wasn’t prepared to hear upfront, with some honesty I would have to wait until she was too deep to be appalled by the reality.
Taehyung burst into the room just as he always did, in the perfect way to steal all the attention. Her head snapped to the door with panic, and I seized my opportunity. I moved behind my table and fished around in the first drawer for the small device. I checked on Taehyung who was doing his best magician act, though by definition he would be more of my beautiful young assistant tasked with distracting the crowd while I faked the magic trick. It took only a second for my skilled fingers to slip the tracker beneath her phone case and by the moment she looked at me in horror at Taehyung’s behaviour, I was already sitting on the side of the guest chair satisfied with myself and watching the man work.
I couldn’t help the pleased hum when she grabbed her phone and flustered stumbled out of the door.
The moment the door closed behind her Tae looked at me curiously. “What was that about?” he asked full of mischievous keenness. I shrugged and smiled at him mysteriously. “Just trying to prove a theory of mine,” I uttered nonchalantly and thoroughly enjoyed the eager interest of the younger man.
“That was a tracker, wasn’t it?” he asked again, ever so observant. I gave him another grin. His curious eyes never missed anything, they always flitted around wherever he was, taking in people’s actions and expressions, that’s why he was my favourite spy. People didn’t take him much seriously, they didn’t see him as threat and he knew how to take advantage of it perfectly and bring every little dirty secret right to me.
“Hmmm, we’ll speed up the process a little bit and Kookie will hopefully relax now,” I told him. He hummed too and got up to get himself another drink.
“Guess we’ll see.”
Tumblr media
Maybe we were having a little too much fun pretending like we didn’t know she was tailing us. How do you school your face while talking when you know that a cop is sitting 10 metres away from you? Though we did agree that we like the upgraded look with the motorcycle, so I guess that’s what she was up to the whole time we didn’t see her following us.
It would be a little better had Hoseok been in the country, but we had to entertain ourselves while he dealt with the traitors. I hadn’t heard from him really for around two or three days, which surprisingly was a good thing. It meant he was too busy solving problems to reply. In the end Jin decided to go with him and I had absolute confidence that they would deal with it no matter what that entailed.
I heard Jungkook lightly complain that she’d gotten craftier and how he often had to drive around to lose her to be able to go about his day peacefully. She did go after Namjoon for a little bit and then promptly gave up, which didn’t surprise me as he only spent time home or in the office, she did try to follow Jungkook, but he never gave her a chance. Tae and Jimin didn’t seem to be her targets in the slightest, much to Taehyung’s displeasure, who grumbled about how he’s also interesting. So she mostly stuck with me. But I was patiently waiting for Hobi to return and see.
The moment Hoseok and Jin stepped foot into the country, I warned him to not show up around for a while. He was very confused, but when I said it’s related to the police, he obliged happily, though we had to meet up to discuss his trip to Japan and its conclusion. One day when her little red dot didn’t move from the station, I called him over.
I had to go to the Magic Shop, which was one of the newer clubs Tae was trying to transform into a popular spot, and Jimin came over too. He was still trying to “sweeten my rage”, in his words, which I no longer felt but didn’t tell him. I’d never admit it, but I quite liked the way he was trying to be so damn cute and play up how much he loves me, though I was pretty sure he knew and that’s why he hasn’t stopped yet. I was just laughing at the two younger men’s antics when Jungkook’s car pulled over to the club and the two newcomers jumped out.
“Hyung!” Jimin shouted out, “You’re finally back!” Hobi laughed and threw himself at the blond, tackling him into an aggressive hug, both of them giggling. Tae couldn’t stay still and joined them, with me and Jungkook watching them fondly with smiles on our faces.
“Okay, okay!” I talked over the commotion and pulled them apart, “Unfortunately I have to steal him away for a bit, you can have him later.” The youngsters pouted at me, but it was all in jokes. But when I looked over at Hobi, he had a guilty expression on his face. I sighed a little and smiled at him.
“Sorry hyung, I actually have to go check on the warehouses in Songhyeon-dong, the boys have been asking for me,” he explained and gave an apologetic smile, “You can come too, though. If you have time.” I pursed my lips and thought about it, but I already knew I couldn’t make it.
“It’s across the whole city, unfortunately it’s not convenient for me today,” I told him. We needed to debrief properly; it would be best if Jin was present too, but the man was hard to come by during the weekdays due to his clinic. Every rich person in whole of Seoul wanted him to attend to them and he usually ran from patient to patient, while Hobi was the number one contact for those who worked in or around the warehouses and thus found himself driving around Seoul just solving shit that went wrong. If he couldn’t wait here to have a conversation, it must have been pretty serious there. He was looking at me stressed, most probably trying to think of a way to make it work for everyone, but I patted his shoulder and smiled reassuringly.
“It’s okay, Hobi,” I assured him, “I’ll visit you tomorrow or the day after. I’ll bring Jin too.” He returned my smile and moved back to Jungkook’s car.
“Wait, Hobi-hyung!” Jimin shouted out again, “I drove here with the silver Porsche, you can take it cause Tae’s gonna drive me back.” The blond-haired man fished around in the pockets for a moment and then threw something small and black towards Hoseok, who caught it without problem with a cheeky wink and a smile.
He was gone in a minute, and I soon followed with Jungkook. In the end Jimin took my car and I asked Kookie to drive me to the office, since he was going to stay there with me and Joon anyway. I kept thinking back to the Japan issue, wondering what the boys found out and what the Watanabes tried to claim. And whether we should prepare to burn some bridges.
The next day, though, started in a somewhat peculiar manner. When I came out in the morning and got into the car, Jungkook was sitting next to Soobin with a sombre expression. I immediately straightened and prepared to hear whatever it was that went wrong in those few short hours I was gone.
“I messed up hyung,” he said sheepishly and handed over his phone. The little tracking red dot wasn’t in its usual spot, by my house or by one of the clubs, not even by the office or the station. It was in Songhyeon-dong. Right across from our warehouses. I laughed and Jungkook looked at me nervously.
“Where’s Hoseok right now?” I asked immediately and the younger man snapped into attention.
“He’s in there right now, got in about 7 o’clock, was talking about some papers that have been waiting for him to approve,” Kookie answered, mind back on business and unpleasant feelings left behind to focus on this fully. I grinned at the man wildly. “Perfect.”
I swiftly pulled out my phone and started writing a simple and quick message.
Me, 8:15: stay in the warehouse, don’t walk out at all
Hope, 8:17: what do you mean hyung? are we in danger?
Me, 8:17: no, don’t worry. our little spy is on you and i’m trying to prove something
“Do you want to go to Dynamite today, or are we expected at the hotel?” Soobin’s voice pulled me away from my phone, back to a nervous Jungkook sitting next to the unsure bodyguard. “The hotel, thank you Soobin,” I answered politely with a mild smile and redirected my attention back to Jungkook.
“Don’t worry Kookie, I’m not mad,” I said with a smile, “This is actually exactly what I wanted, just hoped that I would have more time and control over when she found him. Guess she must have been on us yesterday.” The young man stiffened and looked back to his phone.
“Do you think she’s aware of the tracker? Left it at the station purposely to mess with us?” he asked all business-like, probably already trying to come up with a new plan. “It’s possible,” I hummed, “It’s time to find out.”
Silence took over the car as we made our way through the city. I smiled to myself. Even though it happened a little faster than I was planning, but I was glad she was still going in the direction I had predicted. I look away for a moment and you leave for one of my friends, huh? You definitely work fast.
I laughed again, earning a strange look from the two younger men, but only gave them a mysterious wink. We might be able to deal with this shortly, if everything goes well. The key was to find out what the goal was, then I could control what she found and make sure she’d stay away from what we needed to hide.
“Let’s give her a few days,” I told them and gave them another grin.
Me, 8:25: how would you feel about going to the warehouse every day and just staying there?
Hope, 8:26: ???
Four days later I sat into my car and instructed Soobin to drive to the warehouse with a shit-eating grin. Jungkook had been keeping me updated on her movements and she spent her days either at the station or staking out in the building across the premises.
Hobi, as promised, had been going to the warehouse and just sitting on his ass there, thoroughly complaining through his phone the whole time. I had been trying to calm him down and keep him there, while Joon and Kookie took it upon themselves to tease him all the time with pics and cheeky texts about eating in restaurants and hanging out in clubs together, so he was slowly losing his patience with my plan. I had to move forward quickly for the benefit of us all, even though I did find it awfully funny.
Reaching our destination, I took the time to walk around very self-assuredly for a moment knowing she was watching this angle. When I tired of putting on a show of how free and relaxed I was this day, I finally made my way inside. Through the door you entered straight to the short hall which led to our office, so it was a relatively short and quiet trip.
Hoseok and Jungkook were already sitting inside, Hobi behind the table and the maknae occupying an armchair sitting a little more towards a corner to the left of the door. With the sound of the door opening, their heads snapped towards me and as soon as they saw my smug smirk, Hoseok groaned loudly.
“God, please tell me this is over!” he whined and dramatically draped himself over the surface of the table, “I can’t take another day of this! I’m going to fucking lose my mind here!” Jungkook chuckled at him and retorted with a slight smirk: “You should have treated this as a holiday or something. Watched Netlix and all that stuff.” To that Hobi screamed out loud and grabbed something on his table to throw at the now laughing Kookie. “Yah! You think I have time to burn? I’ve got shit to do!”
I snickered at them and moved inside, Soobin following me in. I gestured at Jungkook. “Did you bring the cup as I asked?” The man nodded at me. I smiled, as relaxed as I haven’t been in a long time, and sat down on a chair by the table. Soobin remained standing by the door so I gestured at him to also sit somewhere, as this would take a while.
“So what’s next in your amazing and genius plan that involves the literal torture of your beloved dongsaeng?” He asked, suddenly pretending to be all business-like and serious, while Jungkook still occasionally giggled in his spot to our left.
“Now we talk for a bit, draw it out a little,” I said smirking meanly, “Then we send in Soobin and wait what he brings back.”
“It’s pretty cold outside, hope she’s dressed for the occasion,” Hobi noted cheekily and relaxed into his chair. I hummed and schooled my expression. I did have to bring up Japan, we haven’t had a chance to talk about it properly yet and I couldn’t visit him sooner cause we were planning what to do about our little spy.
“I don’t think she knows about the tracker,” Jungkook mused out loud, “she keeps bringing it. I don’t think it’s a statement like ‘look where I am’, it wouldn’t make sense to let us know.” Hobi nodded, humming in agreement, and they carried on for a moment, the conversation heading to the clubs as Hoseok asked about how it went while he was gone. I let them speak for a little while, just enjoying the company, until their chattering died off and they both looked at me questioningly.
“We have to talk about Japan,” I said simply, not feeling the need to beat around the bush. Hoseok immediately sobered up and straightened in his chair, while Jungkook looked on curiously, no doubt also dying to know the situation in which we found ourselves in.
“Well, they claimed innocence,” the dark-haired man said sombrely, “I’ve heard bullshit enough time in my life to smell it a mile away, but there wasn’t anything I could really pin on them. I checked the dates of their stay, and it was relatively recently, there wasn’t much correspondence between them, that I found. And we did thrash the dealers’ hiding spots. They must have gotten rid of it. But the head of the Watanabe family is such a slimy motherfucker that I don’t believe a word he said. They surely must have been planning something together.” He shrugged and sat back. “I’m afraid right now we can’t do much about it unless we want to seem like vicious usurpers.” Jungkook leaned forward and looked at us thoughtfully.
“Japan is outside of our turf, if we did something rash without substantial evidence, we could risk losing the support of the Satos,” he contemplated out loud, “God knows what’s going on between them right now.” I hummed and nodded, smiling at the man satisfied. He really did grow up, god. Time flies so fast.
“There seem to be two main issues right now,” I surmised solemnly, “First, the Watanabes are small and cowardly. The reason why they’re where they are is because they just suck up to others and hug their thighs to drain all the benefits from them. If they stirred up trouble with someone, they would no doubt end up eradicated before sundown.” The men looked at me with similar serious expressions. I took a moment to get myself a glass of water and continued talking standing up by the office desk.
“So, what gave them the confidence to get involved with an effort against us?” I mused thoughtfully, “There is a chance that they couldn’t have known that their new friends would immediately go and cross us and get themselves all killed, but I trust Hobi’s instinct. The fucking clown that leads the family now is a sleazy bastard, one with an ego that doesn’t match his wit nor his guts. He loves to gloat and provoke, but only when he knows someone stronger’s got his back.” Hobi nodded. He knew the man well since he had the displeasure of meeting him a few times when we were in Japan and had to attend a few of the same events as he did.
“If he knew he was at risk, he would have met me already grovelling,” Hoseok muttered with distaste, his immense disdain towards the man showing through, “that’s the kind of a pathetic vermin he is.” I agreed with him and carried on.
“So that means he probably feels comfortable timidly opposing us, cause there’s someone that’s got his back,” I concluded, “Someone who’s probably on our side of the puddle, someone who probably hooked him up with the rats we just got rid of. They probably weren’t expecting them to go against us immediately and die, but they don’t feel intimidated by the fact that we suspect something.”
The room sunk into silence as we all pondered about it. I could be looking too much into it, but in this world one never knew. You couldn’t survive here by assuming everyone’s best intentions. Quite the opposite. The little shits feeling confident enough to swindle us, them trying to desperately hide the invitation before they lose the chance to, the Watanabe’s approach to a meeting with Hobi. It wasn’t much to go off of, but it was suspicious enough to keep track of and keep in mind. If there potentially was a beginning of a plot against us, we had to stay alert and monitor the situation before it spun out of control.
“The confidence means their alliance is already pretty sure, then,” Jungkook broke the silence and took turns looking at us both. I gave him a single jerky nod in return. “Probably. Who knows.”
“What’s the second issue?” Hobi suddenly asked. Kookie looked at me questioningly and his face suddenly looked so much younger with his eyes wide, it almost shocked me speechless.
“The Japanese families,” I shook off my surprise and continued, “If we do decide to make take some precautions, we need to properly communicate so with the Satos and get their support. They need to be in full agreement with whatever we choose to do with the Watanabe clan.” Hobi scoffed and turned to me.
“That shouldn’t be too hard. They’re not that influential and going against us means they’re going against the Satos too.”
“Still,” I repeated, “We need to test their alliance to us too.” A realisation hit Jungkook’s face and he nodded enthusiastically. That made me laugh a little at his earnestness. Hobi also smiled, but it was still strained.
“Let’s bide our time for now,” my voice carried through the office resolutely, “Lay low, pretend we’re over this issue and gather our wits. And prepare for potentially dealing with this.”
We nodded at each other. Even if years have passed since our youth and the fire and passion and determination that comes with it, we were still prepared to fight for what was rightfully ours. We climbed our way here through hell and there’s no way we’d let some snotty little brats try to take everything away from us.
“I’ll keep my eyes and ears out,” Kookie stated, phone in hand ready, “They’re bound to come across something juicy.” Hobi murmured his approval and turned his attention back to me.
“Today we should deal with the other issue at hand, or I am actually going to go insane between these four walls,” he complained whinily and I laughed at him. I moved towards the little kitchenette in the right corner from the door and started preparing some coffee. I made a cup for all present and then one extra into the cup Kookie brought with him, which I promptly handed to Soobin.
“My boys scoped it out and she seems to have her hideout on the sixth floor to the left of the staircase,” Hobi instructed the young man, who patiently waited on me to send him off.
“Tell her something that will piss her off,” I said only, grinning wildly. The blond man smirked at me and disappeared out of the room swiftly and silently.
“Now we wait,” I told the room, sitting gingerly back into the chair with my fresh cup of coffee, playing with the spoon like a spoiled little kid waiting for his birthday present. We all stayed silent, too much on our minds to keep mindless convo. Kookie was typing furiously on his phone, a slight scowl sometimes tugging at his features, while Hobi relaxed into the chair and serenely looked off into the distance. I tried to keep the self-satisfied smirk on my face while my mind slipped to more serious issues.
I couldn’t help but be worried about the current situation. Their potential ties to a stronger gang, or maybe even a family, would explain the surprising difficulty with which they went down. I knew I stepped on many toes when I stole half the fucking Seoul right from under their noses, and even more when I proved impossible to dethrone. It didn’t surprise me at all to uncover a supposed scheme like this. Truly, this didn’t even have to necessarily be aimed against me and my gang, but the boys fucked up by involving us in their business. But no matter what, we would emerge victorious from this, that I had no doubt about. Once someone crossed a line, we would make an example of them and teach a lesson to whoever it was that wanted to mess with us.
Over the years in this “business”, I had learnt a lot. One of the things was: what couldn’t be solved with threats, would be solved with blood. And it never failed me before. I looked at Hobi and Kookie again and smiled. We had each other’s backs and I trusted their abilities more than I trusted myself. The truth was that we were more a family than many around us that were actually blood related. That was the second reason of our success.
Soobin returned within 15 minutes, of which he probably spent most time going up and down the stairs. He walked back into the office slightly breathless and a little red, so I gestured for the single cup of coffee left on the mini kitchen counter. He walked over and took a tentative sip, probably finding it the perfect temperature since it’s been waiting for him here and slowly cooling down.
We all found ourselves hanging onto him with our eyes, some excitement coursing through the room at what he was about to divulge to us. Kookie broke first.
“How did she react to you?” he asked eagerly, waiting to confirm his theory about the tracker.
“She was shocked and surprised, and frankly pissed off,” Soobin answered immediately, his deep voice having a calming effect on us, “She didn’t seem to understand how you were able to find her.”
Jungkook exclaimed happily. “Perfect, that means she doesn’t know about the tracker,” he said satisfied. I was about to destroy his whole joy though, so I let him bask in it a little before speaking.
“We’re gonna mess with her a little, make it obvious,” I told the room and Kookie immediately groaned. “Hyung, having her tracked without her knowledge is the safest way to let her be but still have control over the situation. Why would you want to give that up?” I winked at him and pursed my lips teasingly.
“To provoke her. Rile her up, frustrate her, push her to her limits,” I explained, eyes flitting between the three men, “She’ll reveal herself then.” Kookie hummed in understanding, but Hobi squinted his eyes at me somewhat suspicious. I quickly averted his eyes and focused back onto Soobin.
“What else did she say?” I asked him. The man immediately snapped to attention at me addressing him and answered. “That you’re annoying and she hates you.” His voice was neutral, but I could detect some undertones of amusement. I agreed it must have been an amusing sight.
I laughed lightly and finished my coffee in one gulp. The game was on.
Tumblr media
Now that Hoseok was free of his prison, he went back to flitting between the docks and ships like a mother bird trying to take care of all of her young. Jin was similarly busy by his practice, so he also missed out on all of the fun. Namjoon kept saying he was above messing with the police, even though I caught him sneaking smirks and grins every now and then, and Kookie was just as disapproving as ever of my tactics. Jimin tried to stay neutral as he hadn’t met her yet, but thoroughly enjoyed our shenanigans.
That left me and Tae on the shit-stirrer team, and we did milk it for as long as we could. Just the ultimate annoyances, hoping to send her into a complete rage over this. She still had the tracker regularly on her, so we were forced to assume she was none the wiser, but the longer it dragged on the more suspicious I was becoming.
Once she started showing up to the office regularly, cheshire grin firmly plastered on her face, tracker still firmly attached to her, I pretty much guessed she must have known. Suddenly I was spending my afternoons making her tea and watching her leisurely stroll about my office, studying every inch of it and grinning from ear to ear. I waited patiently for her next move, and admittedly, I found myself quite excited with this game we were playing with each other. She was a fast learner and had a quick wit, and I did appreciate her readiness to throw all laws aside to try to stick it to a guy that mildly annoyed her once. The anticipation was steadily rising the longer we just danced around and pretended we both knew nothing.
I did start to slip. I watched her move about less, focused more on work. I would always suddenly shake myself out of the work-induced haze to find her still sitting at the sofa curiously eying everything in the office like a little kid first time in an amusement park. But while we were in this strange stale-mate, I didn’t dare refuse her visits. I was truly curious, dying to know her next move, especially since she suddenly became such a showman.
I didn’t immediately realise what was happening when she suddenly stopped showing up. One day she was sitting there, smirking up a storm, and the next there was no trace of her. I found myself walking around my office, inspecting the objects at display and the decorations, trying to catch anything different. I even allowed Jungkook to thoroughly comb through the room to make sure there weren’t any planted bugs or things in the same vein, but the space was clean.
We kept checking on the tracker app, but it became quite obvious immediately she had gotten rid of it, as it was moving in areas that she never went to. So she did know. And she did do something.
It wasn’t until two days later, when Jungkook stormed my house and decided to comb through my clothes with a device detector; and found a corner of my coat beeping curiously. I had to stop him from tearing into it in his haste to find out what she planted on me, and instead took it upon myself to inspect the piece of clothing. I managed to find a small tear and smirked at her craftsmanship. I fished the little gadget out and handed it over to the younger man.
Jin and Hobi were sitting on the couch watching this whole ordeal go down with curious, slightly amused and mildly alarmed faces, but I wasn’t too worried about it. Jungkook was grumbling something next to me, but I paid him no mind. My fingers felt something else slipped into the coat and I was trying to get a hold of it. By its thinness and elusiveness, it must have been a piece of paper.
“It’s a tracker, similar to what we planted on her,” I heard him explaining it to the other men present, but suddenly exclaimed in victory, startling the three men, as I finally managed to pull the mysterious note out. I took a single look at it and burst out laughing.
They snapped their eyes to me and Jungkook immediately rushed to my side as if prepared to defend my life against a piece of paper. I lifted my gaze to look at their confused faces and flipped the paper around for them to see.
fuck you min yoongi :p
Only Hobi seemed to be as amused by it as I was, Jungkook deliberating something silently and Jin watching us all like a hawk, his sharp eyes taking in the interaction with burning interest.
Once I had calmed down and sent Kookie off to the office to get Joon and figure out what to do about the little device, I found myself sitting between the two other oldest of the group, amusement slowly slipping into nervosity. I knew them well enough, I could see the cogs turning in their heads, I could feel they were on the doorstep of a discovery, and I wouldn’t like the conversation that would follow, but I truly didn’t expect Jin to just jump into it head first.
I had leaned towards the table to grab one of the snacks Jin had graciously prepared for us, when he cleared his throat.
“Kookie had been talking to me a lot about how this whole situation is unfolding. Hobi too,” Jin said, seemingly just holding mindless conversation, but I still tensed up. I turned to look at him.
“Yeah?” I turned to the other side to look at Hobi, who avoided my eyes.
“Yeah,” Jin reiterated, his voice gravelly, “So can you fucking explain to me why have you been testing this cop like you did the boys before they joined?”

As it turns out, a baby living in the same space as you isn’t your biggest inconvenience.
Okay, perhaps “inconvenience” is taking things too far. Olivia has been a treat these past few days; she’s just started walking and mumbling a few words, so watching her be curious about everything and reach for things and people with her little hands has been one of your weekly highlights.
But you and Steve remain far from the good buddies you were as children, and the awkwardness that floats in the air whenever you interact is very much palpable and thick, weighing down on both of you.
Even so, you at least remain polite towards each other, and you both try your hardest to become friendly again.
Steve tells you about his time in Colombia; he tells you how he caught Pablo Escobar in his final moments and how he wished Javier was there to share the sweet victory since “it would’ve been only fair”. He mentions Javier quite a lot, actually, just like he did in his letters to you. You deduce that they are good friends, bonded by a mutual goal and plenty of tragedy, and that Javier is, despite some flaws and choices, a focused and hardworking man. Trustworthy and loyal.
In other words, a good man.
“I still have them, by the way,” you tell your brother as you take another sip of coffee.
Steve blinks in surprise. “You kept the letters I sent you?”
“Well, yeah. You’re still my brother, and the fact that you took the time to write to me when you were basically in a living hell, it means a lot to me. I was worried about you.”
The warmth that fills Steve’s body is not unknown, and yet it feels like it’s the very first time he’s ever felt it such a big wave of affection towards his baby sister.
“I figured if something were to happen, you’d be… eased,” he tries to joke.
“You’re not my favorite person in the world but I don’t want you to die. Besides, do you have any idea how expensive it is to have a funeral? Not to mention the cost of retrieving your body from there… way too much work.”
You both giggle, finding odd comfort in the rather morbid way you’re making jokes, and you finish your coffees in silence. Connie is at the park with Olivia—which you suspect was done intentionally on her part—and it’s almost time for both of you to head off to work. You actually crave the library’s welcoming silence today.
“I’ve got an idea,” Steve says, washing both cups. “The precinct isn’t that far from the library.”
“Probably ten minutes by car or so.”
“Exactly. How about you stop by at lunch? I can show you around, give you a tour.”
He’s trying, you smile to yourself. He’s trying to make things great again. You want that too, so it’s not hard to meet him halfway.
“That sounds pretty good actually,” you reply and smile when Steve does.
“Cool!”
“Can you give me a ride to work?”
“Sure thing, c’mon.”
On your way, you talk more and it becomes easier, more lighthearted. You find out that Steve wrote to your parent as well, and he also called them once a week. He talked to your mother daily during the brief time he and Connie were apart, and as you hear that, your heart sinks a little. You figure how difficult it must’ve been for both of them.
And even if you don’t say it aloud, you’re very impressed by Steve’s work in Colombia. But most of all, you’re proud of him.
“What’s Javier like?”
The question replaces the brightness on Steve’s face with a gloomy and curious expression. Much as he tries to hide it, it’s there.
“Why?” he asks flatly.
You roll your eyes, chuckling. “He’s your best friend, isn’t he?”
“Yeah, so?”
“Steven, I’m given to understand that Colombia was very dark. The two of you are bonded together by things that the rest of us can’t comprehend. I’m just asking out of curiosity, nothing more.”
Steve’s grip tightens over the wheel, recalling some of the events in Colombia. It was very dark indeed, but most of the time he had Connie there. Javier, on the other hand… there were times Steve feared he was drowning the more vehemently he refused any external help. All he had were his brothel girls, alcohol and cigarettes.
And Steve fears he still hasn’t recovered, even a year later.
“He’s a great guy overall,” Steve replies after a while. “Tough nut to crack and stubborn, but you can rely on him when it comes down to it.”
“He does look like he’s stubborn.”
“Have you seen much of him?”
“You mean since he introduced himself last week, then you shadily pulled him over after which he fled like the plague? Hmm, no, I can’t say I have.”
Steve coos your name, almost apologetically so, but you cut him off instantly. “Even if I were interested in him, which I’m not, what’s it to you? I get that I’m your sister and he’s your best friend and that puts you in the middle, but we’re adults. It would be none of your business.”
“True, but…” Steve huffs, struggling to find his words. “Look, I’m just trying to keep you both safe and sane.”
You frown. “What do you mean?”
“Whenever you were dating one of your bad boys, it never ended well. Remember Hyde, who spray painted dad’s car when you broke up with him?”
“Ugh. Yikes.”
“Or Mike?”
You try your hardest not to laugh. “I still can’t believe he found a skunk and sprayed it all over you.”
You suppress a giggle, much to Steve’s dismay.
“I had to sleep in the basement for a week,” he reminds you bitterly. “Wasn’t funny then, and it’s not funny now.”
“I know, I’m s—I’m sorry.”
“Ever notice how your breakups affected the rest of us, but never you?”
You shrug. “What can I say? I have a long lasting impact on these boys.”
“That’s what I’m afraid of.”
“Javier’s a grown man. Those were little insecure boys. I doubt—“
“Javier isn’t fully okay after Colombia. Neither am I, really, but I’ve got a beautiful wife, an amazing daughter, and life goes on. He took it all by himself and bottled it up. Which is exactly like the kind of guy you’d fall for.”
“I thought he’s a reformed bad boy.”
Steve huffs, parking the car in front of the library and looking at you with a care he hadn’t possessed in years.
“I’m not trying to tell you what to do,” he says softly. “Not gonna do things like I did when we were teenagers. You’re a grown woman, Javier is a grown man as you said. He’s a little broken though, and you can be a lot to deal with… and I’m just afraid you’ll both end up getting hurt.”
“I appreciate your concern, Steven. But I promise you, I’m not interested in Javier like that.”
“All the women are at some point.”
“It’s a regular occurrence?”
When Steve hesitates, you get your answer. “Oh come on, it’s not like he’s some Adonis.”
“I don’t know, for a guy he’s pretty good looking.”
Devilishly handsome is more like it, you think.
“He is,” you agree indifferently, “but I’m not into it.”
“I’ll pick you up at 12-ish?”
You notice the topic change, but you don’t fight against it. “Sounds good,” you concede. Thanks for the ride.”
“You got it.”
Tumblr media
Time flew by in the blink of an eye. Before you knew it, you were back in Steve’s car and on your way to the precinct. There’s a tingle in your body that you cannot explain, but you don’t fight against it either.
“So what exactly does a consultant do at a police precinct?” you ask.
“I help with cases but I don’t actually get involved. It’s a pretty sweet deal actually.”
“So it’s basically like giving advice and adding at the end, ‘if it ruins your life, it’s not my fault’?”
A hearty laugh leaves Steve’s chest, booming throughout the car. “Basically, yeah.”
“That’s a pretty sweet deal. How are you adjusting to it after all you did… in your previous job?”
“It’s a bit boring if you compare them, but it’s a nice change of pace.”
“I’ll bet. You are, after all, America’s hero.”
“Oh, stop it.”
“Come on! You know what people are saying about you! Steve Murphy, American’s fine hero, saved the world!”
You keep teasing him till you both end up laughing wholeheartedly. It’s a sentiment you haven’t had in years, and suddenly you feel grateful and lucky to have your big brother back in your life.
Steve holds the door for you, thus allowing you to get a first glimpse into his work environment. It’s as busy as any precinct, people buzzing and moving at a fast pace without paying much attention to their surroundings.
“Here,” Steve catches your attention. “This is my office.”
You scan the cubicle, noticing the picture of him, Connie and Olivia on his desk. “Pretty cozy.”
“That one over there is Javier’s.”
The difference between the two desks is quite stunning: while Steve’s is cozy and personalized with reminders of the life he has outside these walls, Javier’s is pretty empty except a few folders neatly stacked on top of each other, a pen and a stapler. His desk seems pretty empty, and you fleetingly wonder if that reflects how he’s feeling on a daily basis.
Impossible, you think to yourself. Surely he’s a ladies’ man, and surely he’s got someone to hook up with at least, if nothing more.
“Hey Jav,” your brother’s voice changes. “You remember my sister.”
Your eyes met Javier’s for a single second, frozen-like in time, and you’re quick to notice how he shifts his gaze as farther away from you as possible. As a response, you lower your head, stiffening a chuckle.
“Hola señorita,” he tells you, even his voice distant.
There’s no verbal reply leaving your mouth. You want to say something clever and witty, maybe even sarcastic, but there is a small fraction of your slightly twisted being, deep down, which considers his greeting to be an awakening of some sort. You like how the words roll so easily down his tongue. A presumably filthy and skilled tongue.
Whoa. Where the fuck did that come from?
Okay, so you might think he’s attractive. He might be sin personified with golden skin and cold attitude, which means he can be trouble.
And you’re not looking for trouble. Not anymore.
“What brings you here?”
It takes you a bit to realize that Javier’s addressing you because he’s not even looking at you; he’s looking through a folder in his hands, seemingly doing everything in his power to ignore you.
“Steve wanted to show me around the precinct while we grab some lunch,” you say.
“Hm.”
“Oh, right, lunch!” Steve exclaims. “I got us turkey sandwiches from a nice place down the street, hope that’s okay.”
“Yeah, love those.”
“I’ll be right back.”
With Steve gone temporarily, you take the opportunity to squeeze some answers out of Javier.
“Let me guess,” you start, crossing your arms at your chest and teasingly sitting on the edge of Javier’s desk. “Steven put on the big bro talk with you.”
Javier finally looks at you, somewhat surprised. “Is that a regular occurrence?”
“Oh yes. He used to do it a lot when we were teenagers. But please don’t hold my being related to him against me.”
“Wasn’t going to.”
“Thanks. He claims that I made his life miserable by bullying him when we were younger but if you’re asking me, he’s a bit of a wimp. When it comes to me, at least.”
“You do sound like a bully.”
This time you do chuckle. And if you wouldn’t have such great observation skills, you might’ve thought that Javier chuckled too.
“Did you bully him though?” he asks, voice less distant.
“Well… depends from which side you’re viewing things. I say I gave him reality checks. But this might explain why he’s trying so damn hard to overcompensate now by being ridiculously protective. He knows I didn’t like it then and it’s why we’re awkward around each other now, and yet here he is, going out of his way to keep you at bay.”
“He only asked me nicely to not hit on you.”
You raise your eyebrows. “Were you going to?”
“No. You’re not really… my type. No offense or anything.”
“None taken. But the question remains, why does my brother want to keep you at bay? Are you really that big of an asshole, Javier?”
He turns to you, studying your face properly for the very first time. You seem much sharper than any of the women he previously encountered, and for this reason he decides to be as blunt as possible with you.
“That seems to be the consensus,” he agrees.
“Cause I heard some storied from my brother’s time in Colombia. I heard about the infamous Javier Peña. Heard you were quite the hit with the ladies, but nothing short of ‘hero’ and ‘great friend’.”
Gradually, Javier becomes irritated. Reminders of his past life in Colombia and how much it took from him become a trigger, and he doesn’t want to relive any part of that.
“Are you gonna do this the whole time you’re here?” he asks you instead.
“I could,” you shrug. “I can see it gets a rise out of you.”
“And I can see why Steve said you can be a pain in the ass.”
“Ouch.”
But you smile, and paired with the way you said his full name, rolling the R perfectly at the end, it does get a rise out of him.
Frustration. The inability to act upon it. Curiosity. Forbidden fruit.
Too much contradiction for Javier’s personal taste.
“Listen,” he moves closer to you to whisper in dangerous proximity, “Steve asked me to not get involved with you, friend to friend. So that’s what I intend to do. More like not do.”
“Okay, that’s honorable, I respect that. But how much fun would it be to mess with him?”
Javier cocks an eyebrow in your direction, the faint scent of something floral suddenly invading his nostrils.
“Why would we mess with him?”
“Come on! Haven’t you ever wanted to just mess with him? Prank him in any way?”
“Not out of instinct.”
“You’re missing out.”
“And how exactly would we mess with him?”
“Do I detect interest in your voice?”
The playfulness in your voice, along with a hint of mischief, is causing Javier’s head to spin. You’re still not his type, but you sure seem like fun.
And he likes to have fun once in a while.
Forbidden fruit, he reminds himself.
“I figure if he sees me around you a lot, he’ll think we’re fucking, and based on your reputation, sounds plausible,” you ponder. “One of those veins in his head is bound to pop.”
“Shit, you’re a mean one. But I still want to respect Murphy’s wish.”
As if on command, Steve rushes back, handing you a sandwich and pulling Javier closer.
“I found this on Lieutenant Dan’s desk,” he mutters, but not hushed enough to not reach your ears.
Steve reveals a folder that you try to peak at while Javier rummages through it. Seconds later, his face brightens.
“New intel on the case,” Steve adds. “These sure would come in handy for closing the case.”
“So take ‘em.”
Both men stare at you like you just said the most outrageous thing in the world. “They’re classified, smarty pants,” Steve practically scolds you.
“So? You’re not taking them outside the precinct. You’re just… borrowing them, looking at words on a page.”
“If I close my eyes, you’re like the female version of Javier.”
“Gee, thanks.”
“Why are you here, again?”
Javier’s sharp eyes cut through you like glass, but they don’t intimidate you.
“Apparently I’m the only one thinking rationally,” you retort.
With a loud grunt and a quick glance around, Javier turns to Steve. “Look, just—just stuff it down your pants.”
“What?”
“Do you wanna close the case or not?”
“Yeah, obviously, but—“
“Stuff ‘em down your pants.”
“Say that a lot to your lady friends?”
The glare Javier throws you doesn’t intimidate either. If anything, it only makes you bolder.
“If your brother wasn’t here, I would’ve told you where you can stuff that,” he grunts.
“Yeah, you’d wish you’d stuff something in this.”
“Both of you, cut it out, now,” Steve shushes you. “And ew. Why me, anyway? You pulled the same stunt back in Medellin.”
“They’ll suspect me.”
“You can’t play that card here too!”
“Spanish-speaking guy with a foreign family name? Trust me, they’ll fucking suspect me, Murphy.”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake!”
Within a split second, you snatch the folder from Steve’s hands and, ensuring no one’s around, you tug at Javier’s belt, making enough room for the folder to slide between his shirt and his pants. Breathless, Javier can only watch in shock as you smile, so as to not raise any suspicions, and button his blazer so that the foreign element in his suit isn’t visible.
“There,” you say, “problem solved.”
“What the fuck,” Steve mutters under his breath.
“I wasn’t gonna shove a folder down your pants.”
Javier can’t think of a single thing to say. He can only watch you as you sit down, finally munching on your sandwich, and feel a concoction of feelings.
She’s not my type, he remembers.
But shit, that was hot.

thinking about the qiao ling-lu guang section of the time trio.
the way I see it, qiao ling sees lu guang as cheng xiaoshi's first ever genuine friend. she has her own friends and is pretty sociable as a person, but cheng xiaoshi doesn't have that. sure, he acts pretty friendly, but we know he's had to work for that. that his situation with his parents was incredibly isolating and created a disconnect between him and others.
this is probably part of why qiao ling lowkey tried to vet lg early on in their relationship with the whole "why do you like cxs?" deal. but by the time the series kicks off, she's pretty sure lg is trustworthy.
I do think qiao ling considers lu guang a friend herself, but importantly, I think she considers him cheng xiaoshi's friend *first*. cheng xiaoshi hasn't had this before and she doesn't want to risk taking it from him. which is how you end up with cxs basically acting as the hinge between lg and ql.
and from a meta perspective, qiao ling somewhat keeping her distance and letting shiguang get on with things means that she probably has a somewhat different view of their relationship and lu guang's personality than the audience at this stage. she's seen them in general day-to-day situations and definitely has an idea of the whole cheng xiaoshi pestering-lu guang scolding dynamic, but stuff like diving? how they act together in high-stakes situations? we know she was largely kept out of that prior to s2. and in s2, lu guang was largely kept apart from her and cxs until the very last episode.
does she have any idea how far cheng xiaoshi's trust for lu guang extends? does she realise how much lu guang is fighting to control? I know I keep coming back to this, but it's fascinating what throwing her the fragment about lu guang's backstory achieves. she's disconnected enough to have a perspective outside of the shiguang dynamic. the pieces she's missing about lu guang might actually make her more able to accept what he's capable of than cheng xiaoshi in the end. and more able to get through to lu guang too, because they're not close enough for it to wreck their relationship in the same way. but at the same time, she's still emotionally tied into this situation and she especially doesn't want cheng xiaoshi hurt or dead.
I do think she'll push through her denial eventually and make progress with lu guang, but there is a reason why she's in denial in the first place at the end of s2. the idea that there's been something so horrifying hiding beneath the surface all along.
her brother died and yet he still sits there in front of her, smiling. his friend, whom she thought she could trust, was there and hasn't said a word.
where was she?

𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝑾𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝑰𝒕 𝑻𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓
Paid story for @sardonic-the-writer. Word Count: 1k Warnings: walkers, killing, killing walkers... mentions of violence, otherwise it’s pretty fluffy
ᴹᵃˢᵗᵉʳˡᶤˢᵗ
The air was warm outside, Rick and the others were hard at work, sweating and grunting. They were building traps for Walkers. Animal traps really, but it was better than wasting bullets or having them get too close.
You had just come back from helping Glenn on a run. Supplies had been low for a while, so it was time for you him to go back out. However, you had gotten close to the soft-hearted man. His friendliness wasn’t a ploy, or a mask. Glenn was genuine.
So, it was hard to leave his side. Because everyone else seemed too … off … or rather, mysterious. Like they had shadows and deep regrets that didn’t make them trustworthy in their core. Except for Glenn and … Daryl.
You had a crush on the red neck ever since you came with Rick’s group to Hershel’s farm.
Your fondness started when you realised just how much passion he had for trying to find Sophia. It was admirable.
  But your beginnings weren’t kind.
Eight, your German Shephard ran the dirt road back to the farm, barking happily as he saw Daryl. They too didn’t have a very good beginning.
The old factory had been run down for years before the time of the Walkers. And being homeless before that made it easy to survive in this new world. It had been your home for a year; sleeping in a hammock, eating out of canned soup and at times, stealing from venders. Eight had always been a good companion. A good look out, and an even better fighter.
When Rick’s group had found you, it was his decision to take you with them. Shane and Daryl were firmly against it, while Glenn, T-Dogg and the rest were in the green.
And that’s how you came to be here. The farm wasn’t a bad place to be, a hundred times better than the factory. One of your favourite things was watching Eight run around the open fields, his tongue flapping, tail wagging. It was one of the things that made both you and Daryl smile. Although, whenever someone noticed Daryl smiling his instant response was to drop it.
“Find anything good?” Maggie came up beside you, throwing the pack over her shoulder and lugging it into the house. You and Glenn followed, each carrying your own bags of plunder.
“We found a few knives, a packet of cigarettes, dog food, for Shane –“ You interjected, and Glenn snorted in response.
The floorboards creaked as you walked up the steps, and the front door squeaked in greeting. These were one of the few noises you had gotten used to; everything else made you jump.
Unloading on the wooden kitchen table, you put everything into piles. Important, and then the rest. And then subcategories because you couldn’t help yourself. It was one of your autistic traits. The others didn’t mind, not one bit.
Maggie started putting the cans away, while Glenn put the bags back where they usually went. Everything had to go back to its usual place. In case of emergencies – and just plain curtesy.
You sat back and started taking inventory when the door swung open.
“Hey Glenn we got a lot more than wha-“
You stopped talking as soon as you saw who it was. Not Glenn. But your greasy-haired crush, Mr Dixon.
“Good run,” he stated, filing through the packets of bandages, bottles of pills and rubbing alcohol.
“Sure was,” you said in a casual voice, pretending that your heart wasn’t thumping erratically.
“Any Walkers?” you stole a glance at Daryl and his eyes flickered towards you, but only for a second.
“A few,” you answered remembering that you hadn’t looked in the mirror after coming back. There had been three of them; strays that were caught in different parts of the pharmacy. But with your knife and Glenn’s own weapon, you were fine.
“You got some…here-“ Daryl went and wet a tea towel and came back over to you. Suspiciously, Maggie and Glenn hadn’t come back inside.
He knelt down beside you and wiped away dark Walker blood from your neck and face, making sure not to be too rough.
“Must’a caught your cheek on something, It’s pretty scratched up.” You couldn’t make eye contact with him, especially not with the proximity. Being so close, you could smell the dirt, earth and sweat that emanated from Daryl. You didn’t mind it.
“Didn’t feel anything,” you replied lightly, shocked at his tenderness.
Daryl had been slowly getting used to you, and after five months he had accepted you were part of the group, as well as Eight. His prior impressions had faded away until new ones emerged; you weren’t uptight like he thought you were, just quiet. Reserved. You kept to yourself. And he’d be lying if he said he didn’t like your sarcastic remarks.
The dining room was quiet as Daryl wiped away the remaining blood and fixed up your cut. He’d been listening to Hershel talk to Lori about how to heal and had started to know his way around mending bodies.
“Thank you,” your words came out barely above a whisper.
In a gruff voice he replied, “you’re ah, welcome.”
Getting up, he threw the tea towel in the dirty laundry and left the house, you could hear the front door swing shut.
You shook your head in confusion, mere months ago he wanted you dead. He had been adamant that you weren’t an asset. That taking you on would be a liability. And now his hands were so tender as they cleaned your face. You could still feel the warm pressure, easing the headache that you didn’t know was coming on.
Then you heard a voice whistled from behind you, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen Daryl … be so nice,” Glenn’s smirk made you blush. Well, blush even harder. Your cheeks already felt hot to the touch.
“He was just…I-“ You couldn’t explain it because you didn’t really understand it fully yourself. Was it just politeness? Friendship? An olive branch?
Or was it something…more?

LITG SEASON 7 — STICK OR TWIST: FIRST IMPRESSIONS
a bunch of opinions no one asked for!
ok, so first things first, things I really hate:
MC design. I'm sorry, she's UGLY. she's also too skinny. I hate her teeth when she smiles. plus, where is her hairline?
our outfits. I know they add more literally every week but the ones we have for now are ugly. I just liked the yellow nightwear (?) combo.
no, actually, the hairs and piercings and jewellery are also awfull. it feels like season 4 again 😭
the other girls design. I think the one I like the most is Uma, I think she's pretty although her pose is weird at. but Summer is ugly and Bonnie's design looks rushed.
the season is short as hell with like 33 episodes
now, things that I like:
I'm always optimistic at the beginning of the season, it's my nature, I'm sorry.
all the girls feel unique and they talk in unique ways too. on season 6 all the girls always seemed to say the same things and think the same with only like 2 stand outs (flo and ivy)
the boys have relationships and dynamics among them! like, Bryson and Joyo hate each other. Raf and Alex are really close and talk highly about each other (for ex, when Alex said he would love to introduce Raf to his nephews).
all the boys feel unique too. I don't know if they have unique dialogue, but I think Raf does since our chats always somehow mention Daphne. I need to snoop around a little more.
but their personalities are very different from each other. plus, I think like I know A LOT about them already.
MC's personality. oh my god, she's not obnoxious and annoying like the last 3. I think she's flirty and fun and I loved how she replied to the guys when I wasn't choosing dialogue. she talks like a normal human being, THANK GOD.
also, the episodes were long af. love that!
about the characters:
Uma is my girl. she made a mistake, she apologized, we are good. I like her A LOT, she's confident, she's fun, she's easy going and she's friendly. I think she'll be the "mom" of the casa girls.
Bonnie is also great. I think she's chill and mature and funny. she doesn't really gaf and she's sooo into us (if you're bisexual) to the point she's just twisting to be with us in the villa. she gets along well with the boys and the girls.
Summer. well, she's The Bitch™ of the season. We need a villain and I'm guessing she's ours. She doesn't seem deranged like previous ones, though. she's a Casa Girl and Casa Girls want to get to the Villa, right? can't blame her.
first boy I'm gonna mention is Joyo. I'm not really a fan. he gives me player vibes with his mysterious façade and the whole Geri thing that happened to Bryson.
and I like Bryson. I always have a thing for the Funny Boy™, you guys know me, so it wouldn't be different this time. he's not my first option but he's A option.
Alex is a golden boy. def husband material. I KNOW he'll be a fan favourite. he is chill, easy to talk to and wholesome. all his chats were great. I think he really comes across as trustworthy. one of my options, as well.
now, MY BOY. Raf is ever cuter than I thought he would be. he's so sweet and I find his loyalty admirable. he reminds me of a previous islander (haha and I think you guys know who). he's just... my type.
this is it. would give it a 8. great start if you ask me. but it's fusebox so chances are they will fuck it up in no time

One night stand with SF9
Short headcanons
Pairing: sf9 x female reader
Warning: no feelings, just sex *shrugs*
Genre: smut
Bonus song rec: O, by OnlyOneOf
Tumblr media
Youngbin:
Makes sure to take you to his place because he wants both of you to be comfortable.
Is slightly tipsy but seems to be trustworthy, especially thanks to his politeness.
Laughs so easily and kisses so good.
In his bedroom, he undresses you slowly so you can step back if you feel like it.
Thanks the stars you did not give up because the way he fucks your pussy while he kisses you is a present from heaven. He also, instructs you to moan for him.
Spoons you afterward and says you can stay for the night and have breakfast in the morning if you want to.
Inseong:
I know we are talking about hookups here but he enchants you thanks to his friendly aura. He snapped so many witty remarks between kisses and butt grabs.
Asks where you prefer to go for it because he does not have any strong preference, then you all end up deciding on an hourly hotel.
Fucks you a bit harder than you expected considering this is the first time you have sex. But forgive him, his cock is somewhat longer than average. He won't hurt you anyhow.
Likes to talk afterward and praises you for doing amazing.
Jaeyoon:
Making out with him in public is filthy as heck. You two need a room, otherwise you're gonna be arrested.
100% prefers a hourly hotel. This is his procedure not to catch feelings. He is a whore with a big heart (we can see it from his big tiddies).
Skipping to the hotel room, he fucks you against a wall before taking it to the bed. Semi-clothed sex because he is so impatient.
At least three rounds because your pussy is magical, according to him.
Almost sleeps thereafter, so you gotta remind him you are in a hotel.
Dawon:
He voices the most outrageous prophanities in your ear while you are at the bar. You KNOW he can take you right because he exudes those vibes.
Likes the idea of going to your place if it's possible. It just sounds more comfortable and tidy. Also, he can say goodbye whenever he feels like it.
He makes you ride his thigh on the couch, then he finally rails you on the floor.
May take a shower with you afterward as well as press you against the tiles before helping you clean. But definitely won't stay for the night.
Zuho:
Acts all mysterious while the two of you flirt for all to see. He is not really touchy at first but he might fix your blouse strap or anything. Also, he looks deep into your eyes.
Since he likes to talk about his works as a compositor too, he end up inviting you to see his studio. His intentions are clear though, it is getting late.
Zuho shows you his music tools while his hand traces up and down your hips. It goes like this until neither of you can take it anymore.
He does not give a fuck about that being casual, his mouth cannot stop kissing yours passionately. You all end up fucking while holding hands.
He wears you out so you HAVE TO sleep there.
Rowoon:
You already knew each other when he first approached you with that malicious smirk. He had never treated you like that before but you were not complaining.
Now you are at an after-party with a tall man who smiles at everything you say. "I could listen to your voice until the sunrise" he admits stirring his drink "Will you stay with me?"
You go to his apartment and have slow sex with him numerous times. Not in a row but you all have the compromise to stay awake, right?
He eventually falls asleep in the dawn, and so you do. Your bodies still smell like lust but you all will think about it later.
You keep on being just two people who know each other after all.
Yoo Taeyang:
He loves it if you come toward him. Taeyang makes clear that he is happy that you did the right thing. "I like cute girls with an attitude"
He is very discreet but is not scared of leaning close to your ear and asking to go to a private place with you.
He is fine with your place and definitely shows you another side of him when you get there. Taeyang is much more nasty than he looked outside. His large hands go straight to your butt cheeks once your lips connect.
In a second both of you get naked in the living room but he is fine if you prefer it slower. All his attention is on you and he boosts your ego with the way his dick gets hard in a split second.
He sleeps with you but wakes you up to say good-bye very early.
Hwiyoung:
The art of having you into him was built by him. I mean, he is someone you repeatedly meet on your way to work and he kept seductively staring at you as if you were a top model. He eyed you up from head to toe and apparently liked what you presented.
Once you started talking, he asked you out and there were you now: on top of his kitchen counter and aware that it was only for tonight. "You are so gorgeous" he reaffirms.
The way he eats you out definitely worths the awkward enconters that will follow it.
Hwiyoung's hold is firm yet calm, he makes you feel desired. The kisses are fluid and the orgasms, hard.
You wake up next to each other and he makes you breakfast.
Chani:
You don't think he has any second intention until he strikes a suggestive line after you say you need to go. "Wait, are you going without giving me a kiss?"
Okay, he was handsome but you have not suspected he was into you. You clumsily lean for a kiss on his cheek but he turns and clicks his lips on yours.
You do not give up on going home but he follows you toward there.
Let's be real, he might touch you inappropriately in the Uber, you and he make out in the elevator and you pull him onto the couch as soon as you enter your place.
He assures you that he is leaving afterwards but he actually dozes off naked in your bed and you have morning sex too. Then he goes home.

Hi! Was trying everything i could, but i just can't find any Gandalf fanfictions, when i found your page. And it is beautiful, truly. I was wondering if maybe you could something where the reader is Gandalf's wife/so or something like that, but no one knew. And when she joins Thorin's company they are like surprised SURPRISED. I understand if you can't, it appears no one thinks of him as they think of elfs, so if you are uncomfortable it ok!
Thank you anyway ❤️
Thank you for your kind words ♡ At this point I’m not writing for the Hobbit characters, but I did the Fellowship’s reactions and some bonus headcanons of mine instead.
The post was very fun to write (more Gandalf love!), so I hope you’ll enjoy it just as much!
・゚✧ Aragorn.
Tumblr media
Surprisingly, Aragorn knew absolutely nothing about your relationship with Gandalf. While Gandalf is generally a rather private person, you’d think a ranger – a friend, no less – would’ve picked up on the little clues of yours. It is needless to say though that Aragorn would accept you quickly and with a big grin. Anyone who is with his old friend Gandalf is trustworthy to him as well!
・゚✧ Boromir.
Tumblr media
Realisation would dawn on Boromir very, very slowly. Once he understood that the new companion was, indeed, the spouse of Gandalf the Grey, he’d fall silent for a few days at least, maybe give a nervous smile or so. He has immense respect for you, perhaps is even a bit afraid. Someone as powerful as Gandalf would have a partner that is just as mighty. It takes him time to accept that you are just as friendly as your husband, too.
・゚✧ Frodo.
Tumblr media
While surprised, Frodo would be absolutely charmed to meet you. Gandalf is an old friend of the family, after all. Frodo would treat you just like that, though he would not immediately trust you as much as Gandalf (which, granted, is a whole lot of trust – hard to live up to!). He’d show great interest in who you are, what you do, etc. He would also tease your husband about how long he had kept you a secret and, depending on how said secret was lifted, that he wasn’t able to keep you hidden forever.
・゚✧ Gimli.
Tumblr media
I think much of Gimli’s view of Gandalf would change once he met his spouse. He’d be curious about who you are, where you came from, and how the two of you met. He’d probably try and find quiet moments to shower you in questions. Since he is such a fan of partnership and a little romantic himself, Gimli would encourage the two of you to be more open about your relationship. And since he’s also so mischievous, he’d definitely put you in a ‘stuck in a closet together’-sort of situation! His enthusiasm gives your relationship to Gandalf a whole new spark ♡
・゚✧ Legolas.
Tumblr media
Legolas would weigh his reaction depending on how his Fellowship reacts to finally meeting you, with a healthy dose of care and caution at first. It never would’ve crossed his mind that Gandalf would be in a romantic partnership. But because of Legolas’ easy companionship and friendly demeanour, you two would quickly form a bond. Maybe he’d ask you about stories he heard of Gandalf, wanting your confirmation on whether or not they were true – and if you had anything to do with them, of course!
・゚✧ Merry.
Tumblr media
Though surprised to meet you, Merry understands perfectly why Gandalf would’ve kept your relationship a secret. It is dangerous, being with a powerful creature such as him. He’d be very polite around you, almost uncharacteristically so. He wants to get to know you better, testing the waters, so to speak, before he dives in more meaningful conversations.
・゚✧ Pippin.
Tumblr media
Pippin would initially feel a bit betrayed, I think. How could Gandalf, such an old friend of the Hobbits, keep such a secret to himself? Over time, he would understand the reasons as they are presented to him, be it against danger or simply for privacy’s sake. If Pippin had any negative feelings about how this unfolded, none of them are directed against you. On the contrary, the playful Hobbit gets along with you very well! Part of the reason might be that Gandalf doesn’t call him a fool when you’re around, but that remains to be seen once you join Pippin in the little pranks he likes to plan…
・゚✧ Sam.
Tumblr media
Maybe you wouldn’t be such a surprise at all to Sam! Somehow, he’d just always assumed that Gandalf must have someone, because that is his flowery worldview. He’d congratulate the two of you for having such a wonderful partner to call your own. He’s so charmed by your sweet relationship that he’d have to be reminded to not go tell the world about it! Sam is also the perfect person to craft the most elaborate flower gifts with you, so that you always have the right present for any occasion – even if you and Gandalf aren’t keen on presents.
・゚✧ Bonus: Faramir.
Tumblr media
Being Gandalf’s pupil, Faramir has spent a lot of time with your husband. However, learning of his mentor’s spouse came as quite a shock to him. It is needless to say he’d carry your secret to his grave if he was asked to, because he would not want either of you in danger because of him. He would be extremely respectful and gentle toward you, as he always is. He’d sometimes ask your opinion of something he learned from Gandalf, or small talk when he sees you, but overall, he’d keep your friendship almost professional. That said, he is really happy for his mentor to have such a wonderful partner and always happy when he gets the chance to meet you.
・゚✧ Bonus Bonus Headcanons.
Tumblr media
Though not 100% lore accurate, I like to imagine Gandalf with someone just as ancient as him, a fellow “wizard/witch” who he can confide in. Two Istari living their best lives!
Alternatively, I also love to think of him as the magical adviser to a kingdom, where he eventually becomes the secret partner of the lonely ruler who would go through fire and water for their old wizard.
Anything with Gandalf is all the “old married couple” sweetness you can think of: sincere terms of endearment, gentle and not-so-gentle bickering alike, knowing the other inside and out etc.
You could spend hours in silence with him and never get uncomfortable.
Gandalf is a very playful partner. He’d be the type to pretend he forgot your anniversary/birthday/name day when in reality, he has an entire party/special date planned just for you!

Warnings: Language, very quick editing
___________________________________
It was in the heat of summer when you first met.
You had been laying under a great big oak tree as the rain pattered down around you. The fire warmed your face as you set a heaping pile of damp fuel beside it, hoping it would dry in time to use it. Stray raindrops fell like tears from the leaves above you, making you shudder as one lucky one slid right down your back.
“Ugh… stupid rain,” you complained to yourself as you set out your bedroll and started getting comfortable in your camp.
The sun was beginning to set when you heard rustling far off in the distance, towards the middle of the forest. You were right outside of a small town so it was probably just a human, but people don't usually travel through the thick of the forest either. Your viper head medallion confirmed your suspicions as it lay motionless against your chest.
You stood cautiously and drew your steel sword as the sound of breaking twigs got closer and closer. A large dark silhouette moved within your vision as the sun was now halfway sunk on the horizon. As they got closer you could see it was actually a man on a large black horse, with… two swords on their back? Is it possible you really found another witcher?
You couldn’t believe your cat-like eyes. So many of you were lost after the sieges. So many of your brothers and sisters were killed defending your home from the onslaught of humans, and even then they couldn’t succeed. Your old home now was a wasteland of rocks and unlivable walls that held no more life. All the books and research your school did on the wild hunt… gone save for you and the few survivors.
“ A fellow witcher.” You held your hand up in a friendly wave as you watched him dismount and come closer to the light of your campfire.
Your breath escaped you as you saw the warmth of his Golden eyes lit by the fire, they were soft in a way that you didn’t often see from others, let alone witchers. Deep scars ravaged the right side of his cheek, tightly twisting his skin in jagged ways and notching his slightly chapped lips.
“Ah, not every day you run across another witcher out in the field.” He smiled a bit as he nodded toward your swords. “Eskel, Wolf school.” He introduced himself and held out his hand. He seemed oddly trustworthy of you, but you suppose some people just have better judges of character.
You dropped your sword back with your other belongings as you shook his hand in return. “Y/n, Viper school.” you smiled a bit as you spoke and motioned to your camp. “You’re, uh- I guess you’re welcome to make camp here too… means I have someone else to collect firewood for me.” you laughed a bit, gaining a small smile in return from the broad man.
He shook his head a bit as his brow furrowed, “isn’t there a town just a few minutes ride that way? Why don’t you get a room at the tavern there?” He asked, taking a seat across from you at the campfire as you sat down on your bedroll.
“Can’t waste the money.” you said with a frown, “The viper school isn’t livable anymore so I have to hole up in a tavern all winter. I mean, I’ve found a nice place that’ll let me work to stay but, somehow money still seems to run far too thin by the end of the season so I need everything I can get.”
Eskel watched as you stoked the fire carefully and added another log. He wasn't sure if it was the scar that ran across your nose that seemed to highlight your features, or perhaps it was the way you spoke that found him feeling exactly at home. Maybe it was your subtle scent of lavender? No, no, it was your eyes for sure. Your eyes glowed in the firelight and danced with a fierce- yet gentle- determination, a dichotomy that Eskel rarely saw outside of his own eyes.
“Well… Do you mind having a guest at your campsite tonight? I’ll collect all the firewood you could ever need.”
---------
“Are you sure this is gonna be alright? I’m not sure…” You said as the tall standing walls of the Keep just crept into view over the hills. “They're not gonna be nearly as nice as you are, you're an exception…” You sighed.
“Oh, no. You’re right- they’re complete assholes, but I promise they’d never be like that to you. Not right away, anyways.” Eskel stifled a small laugh when you turned to scowl deeply at him. “I just mean to say… that as you become more like family they’re gonna treat you more like family. And that of course includes ruthless teasing from time to time.” He smiled and shrugged.
Though you were fierce and skilled as a Witcher- and among the few women in your profession at that- you knew that you were intruding on another school, someone else's home with different customs and you felt like you needed to tread lightly lest you be asked to return to the oncoming winter season.
It took the rest of the day to finally reach the Keep’s arching gate and ride your horses through. You put them away in the stables, absolutely taking the opportunity to meet the famed Lil bleater along the way.
A comfortable warmth washed over you as the doors to the great hall opened and a large fire crackled in the fireplace, warming the 3 men already inside. Eskel had told you more than enough about his brothers and his father figure. Geralt, the one with white hair and a scar down the eye who looks grumpy all the time, but can be cracked with a joke at Lambert's or Eskel's Expense. Lambert, smaller than the others and the stereotypical younger brothers, his heart lies in mischief and bomb-making. And finally, Vesemir, Who always- but especially after the sieges- stepped up as a sort of father figure to them and was always a little wary, but more than willing to give anyone a fair chance.
“Eskel… Welcome back” Geralt greeted and held his mug up to his returning brother.
“And friend..? Well, Hello..” Lambert said with raised eyebrows which quickly turned into a mischievous grin. Your fingers brushed Eskel’s hand before you could even think about it, inviting and asking for his hand to hold, to which he was quick to respond and intertwine his fingers with yours. You could tell it didn’t go unnoticed, but none of them said anything about it.
“And a Viper at that…Been a long time since I’ve seen any of you. I reckon there's even less of you than there is of us…” Vesemir observed out loud as he nodded and raised his hand in greeting.
“You’d be right on that… Letho is the only other one of us I know to still be around.” You said with a hint of sadness in your voice, unlike that of what was expected of a witcher, even less than that of what a Viper should be. You were all made to be ruthless and cold, but for some reason, it just didn’t seem to stick with you for very long.
“Well, welcome to the last of the wolves, I suppose. “ Geralt said with a nod to you, “we were all just arguing about whose turn it is to make dinner.”
Eskel sighed and set his stuff on the table, “I’m not doing that after a full day of travel. I vote Lambert.” he proposed, getting met with Lambert’s loud and offended scoff.
“What the FUCK, Eskel?”
Geralt’s serious exterior cracked as a smile slipped onto his lips and he turned to Lambert with a smirk. “Well, Lambert. That’s two votes for you, one for me, and Vesemir couldn’t give a shit. Sooooo…” he said with a short laugh.
“You guys are absolute dogshit,” Lambert complained, throwing his hands in the air in an exaggerated gesture.
Now it was your turn to pipe up, “I don’t mind cooking…”, you said, looking between the small group of men.
“Y/n, you don’t have to do that. We’ve just spent days on horseback, you should rest..” Eskel tried to argue, but you quickly waved him off.
“Nonsense. Part of my job at the tavern over winter was to cook for guests. I actually find it rather relaxing.” you said with a smile and a firm squeeze to his hand before you handed your pack over, “Which way to the kitchen?”
“I’ll show you!” Lambert shot up faster than he probably ever had for a task, and quickly waved you on towards the Keep’s kitchen. Once out of earshot of his brothers and father he quietly thanked you for taking over the dreaded task and showed you everything you could need.
It wasn’t too long before you were cooking up a storm and coming out of the kitchen with a sizzling pan and a steaming pot. Vesemir was kind enough to grab plates for everyone as the boys all began to crowd around.
“Hmm, smells better than Geralt's cooking…” Lambert commented as he wafted the steam toward his face.
“Fuck that, it smells better than Vesemir’s cooking..” Eskel dared to say in front of the old man. But it was true, you put all you had into this dish. You figured that- like with many people- a wolf’s heart lies within its stomach. Of course having a full shelf of spices available to you helped a lot, some even that you hadn’t seen in circulation for many years.
Without another word, they all quickly served themselves up and began eating. It was so quiet that you could have heard a pin drop all the up the stairs into the tower if you tried hard enough. Your nerves started twisting at your stomach as you got your own plate and still no one had said a word. Was it good? Was it bad? No, Lambert probably would have said so.
“This…” Vesemir spoke, the first word since everyone had been served, “This is the first time they’ve been completely quiet at dinner in over 50 years…”, he said with a warm smile, more than you ever thought capable of the older man. “Your great food has given me the one thing I never thought I’d have again. Silent company..” He laughed a bit, now turning to Eskel.
“She’s a keeper, you know that, right? If you show up next winter without her you’re gonna sleep in the stables.” Vesemir finished as he turned back to his plate. Lambert and Geralt mumbled agreements through full mouths and content hums as Eskel turned the slightest shade of pink.
“Yes, I understand. I don’t need your threats to keep her around though,” Eskel said with a small smile as he reached for your hand above the table, in full view of everyone else.
A smile spread across your face that you tried to hide as you took a bite of food, “Oh yeah, Eskel’s never gonna be rid of me at this rate…”

Changeling
After several days in Eridia, you end up taking a pecurliar and unexpected job. With Willow and Ais, you solve a mysterious case of a potentially posessed or cursed child.
Relationship: Ais x MC (friendly) , Willow x MC (friendly) Characters: MC (you) Willow, Ais, Nessie, Mhin, Leander (both at the end)
It has been a couple of days you have been in Eridia, wandering around to discover the city, encounter familiar faces here and there, but only during daytime, you definitely did not want to be face to face again with a soulless. Surprisingly, you noticed repetitive faces, but there is one you have not seen outside of the Wet Wick at night, Willow’s. However, your mind was distracted by the pleasant smell of fresh baked bread. Your head turned to the origin of the smell, a bakery where a dog came out with a leather bag held by the handle in its big mouth. That was a really large, black dog, half the average height of a human you would say. Did he steal the bag? It is quite odd to see a dog with a bag around, the animals around Eridia are usually either strays or on a leash. You had nothing to do, so you somehow decided to follow the dog from a few meters away, in case the bag was stolen to return it back, and maybe to get money as a reward. People around either ignored him, glanced at the dog, or lightly peted it while it was on its way. After arriving at its destination, the dog entered an open shop. You read the metal and glass sign, “The Spark”, the star shape was familiar, but you couldn’t put your finger on it, it was when a familiar voice came from inside the shop that you could.
“Need something?”
In the darkness, you saw Willow; sitting behind a counter, the daylight stopped in front of her, not touching her. “Oh, hey.”
Willow waved back a hi, staring at you.
“I… saw a black dog with a bag, I am afraid it stole it.”
Willow was confused for a couple of seconds and realized.
“Oh, no worries, he is my little messenger. He’s my dog, say hi Nessie”
Nessie, the droopy eyed dog lazily approached you with a ‘dog’ smile. He actually seemed very friendly. You gently scratched behind his ears.
“So I suppose this bag is yours?”
“Yes, it’s mine, Nessie went for errands for me. I hate the sun, and groceries can only be done by daylight.”
“Makes sense. That is why I never see you around Eridia during the day.”
Willow nodded, reading a piece of paper in the bag.
“Only for exceptions, such as work. Speaking of work, Mhin was supposed to help me out, but they cannot come as they got more urgent work, soulless…ugh.”
Willow scrambled the paper written by Mhin and rested her back against the back of her creaking stool. The monster looked at you again.
“Have you found a way to make money around the city? Or are you still baby fed by Leander?”
“ I did some errands here and there. Not much.”
“Do you have any knowledge that could be interesting, like shop keeping, occult, witchcraft, fighting, I don’t know…”
“I guess I have a bit of that, yes?”
Willow remained silent and thoughtful for some time.
“I cannot be greedy in knowledge these days, as long you’re fine with potential death I am good to go”
“Potential death? Wait, you’re hiring me?” “High risks, high wage.”
Okay, currency was not your biggest wealth, and you felt a little guilty about how Leander paid for your food, your room, your drinks for too many days already, and it was someone quite trustworthy, giving you a job, a high-wage job. But you needed to know what it was about.
“What is that job about to be that deadly?”
“Faery, trickster, ghosts, demons capturing, killing, evicting, banishing...”
You raised an eyebrow
“You kill your people? I mean, you are a faery. “
“And humans kill other humans.”
“You got a point.”
Willow stood up and put in a bag some accessories from her shelves.
“Today’s work is about a child acting odd for a couple of days, the parents doubt of a demonic possession, or a curse, something that is not a disease. We got to visit them. My work is to basically remove everything that is invasive, haunting ghosts, trickers, entities, pixies, demons. Everything that annoys little mortals in this city, aside from my shop. Are you up for that job?”
“Is it riskier than Soullesses?”
“In the least extreme cases, no.”
“I am in.”
“Perfect.”
Willow closed the door, locked it and gave you a pile of heavy leather-covered books. They look very valuable but full of dog ears. Willow put a pair of tainted glasses on and started to walk down the streets in the building’s shadows.
“Let’s go, the house is located in lowtown.”
The walk was a little quiet, some people stared wary, suspiciously at both of you, surely mostly Willow, because how rare it was to see her in broad daylight.
“Don’t pay attention to the looks. Mortals are weird, as if monsters living in the dark can’t go out at day.”
“Is it really only that? They don’t seem just curious, like, in alert, distrustful”
“Like most humans in front of unseelie faeries, and monsters, you haven’t walked around with Ais for sure. People freeze, it’s funny. Oh, Hi Ais. You are here.”
The demon was towering you, waving back to the faery who welcomed him.
“Hello sparrow, found a job? You’ll love it.”
You narrowed your look to Willow. “Wait, I thought you needed me, why is this annoying bastard here?”
Willow stared at you as if you had just asked her the most stupid question she had ever heard.
“If we have to catch a demon, it’s better to have a demon with us, obviously. Pretty sure Mhin knew Ais would be there and surrendered.”
“Happy the dove ain’t there. Would have been more awkward.”
Willow rolled her eyes. All three of you glanced at the tall house. It seemed so calm. Willow stretched her long limbs.
“Be polite you two, you both already have weirdo reputations here.”
“I do?”
“Like many odd balls here”
“That includes you, unicorn.”
“Shut up Ais”
She knocked at the door. A couple of seconds later, you heard the mechanics of the locks, the door opened. A worried mother welcomed us, she didn’t make us wait long to enter.
“Thank you for coming so fast, miss.”
“No problem, I had free time this afternoon. Shop is quiet like a coffin.”
The mother looked puzzled at you, and very wary at Ais “This is MC, my apprentice, they will assist me today, if you don’t mind. I am not the best with children. And Ais, in case of… how to explain it… shady entity?”
“Oh no worries, nice to meet you… both”
“Nice to meet you miss, happy to help.”
You replied politely. Ais was quiet, as usual. He tried to give a “reassuring” smile.
“So, can you give us more information about unusual behaviors, physic changes?”
“Connie, my single daughter, she was always such a social butterfly, full of joy. For a couple of months, she looked off, sick. I doubted bringing her to the clinic, but she refused, you know how she admires Kuras, she wants to be a doctor just like him.”
“How old is she? Any disturbing events in family life?” “She is 5, and no, her father is off and back to work everyday, I take care of the house, sell some crops, no financial problems, same for health, aside from her nowadays. I am worried she has been cursed or possessed, she threw her favorite doll so strong, it left a mark on her wall.”
She teared up a little, brushing briefly a tired watery eye.
“Can we meet Connie?”
“S-Sure, she is upstairs, in her bedroom.”
“Alright, thank you.” All four of you went upstairs, the mother knocked at the door, no responses. The mother decided to open the door, and a blonde-haired girl was staring at the window. Not moving an inch.
“Connie sweetie, can you turn around and say hello?”
She remained motionless.
“Connie?”
Willow placed a hand on the mother’s shoulder, signaling it was fine.
“We will need some time with her, alone, if you are okay with that.”
The mother nodded, and left the room, closing the door behind her.
You all approached the child, who still hasn’t moved. “Hey kid, what you looking at?”
Ais tried to ask gently. Connie didn’t reply. Nor moved, not even to look at Ais.
Was she petrified ? What the hell was wrong with that kid? You were clueless. Willow looked around, took a random plushie and tried to present it to the child.
“Hey, Connie. My name is Willow, what is the name of that plushie? It’s cute.” Connie rolled her eyes to Willow. She didn’t reply. By the slight squit of Willow’s eyes, you could see something was off in the kid that Willow noticed.
Willow looked at the window where Connie was looking, her window was facing the forest.
“You lost something in the forest? We can bring it back if you want?”
No reactions from Connie, it wasn’t that.
“Hey Connie, can I check you, you know, like we do at the clinic, with Kuras.”
Connie instantly backed away. Her look narrowed on Willow, it didn’t look friendly as the mother described her beloved daughter. Her skin was pale gray, her blue eyes were accompanied by black eyebags.
“Chill kid. We wish no harm, Willow is an assistant of Kuras.”
Ais tried to reassure the kid, crouching to be at her height. Connie pushed him, considering her small size, you didn’t expect Ais to fall on his back and yet that happened right in front of your eyes.
“Strong kid there.”
“Not accurate strength for sure for a 5 year-old mortal like her.”
Willow stomped her way to the plush pile, looking for the doll that hit the wall.
“Hey Connie, we don’t hurt strangers, would you like it if I hurt your doll too?”
A normal kid would stop being naughty and apologize, beg for its toy, Connie didn’t, she remained threatening.
“No attachment for loved stuff. I might have my idea. Definitely not a possession.”
Willow headed back to you and whispered in your ear. “I need you to hold her the best you can, I have to do a body check, there should be signs on the body for possessions, curses and such. If she doesn’t want us to approach, there is a reason.”
“You expect me to hold this kid? You saw how Ais got thrown on the floor.”
“He will help you out”
You nodded, approaching the child reluctantly.
“I’ll catch you if you fall, again” Ais said referring to the last time at the seaspring. You rolled your eyes annoyed. He just chuckled low, happy with your reaction.
“Guys focus, we have a cursed kid here, or worse”
Ais caught Connie first with such speed it caught you off guard, and so does Connie, who screams, you help him out by holding her legs… they felt like modeling clay? Unlike fat or bones or flesh. “I hate kids. Well, definitely not a kid.” Ais said, annoyed, trying his best to not let go.
Willow did her best to analyze the arms, legs, neck, and all the child’s body as much as she could, she checked her teeth, her ears. Pointy long ears and teeth were all you could basically see, not human-like. She was struggling too much.
“Her body feels off at touch, like… moldable?” You said to Willow.
“Body is deformed, primitive. Not a demon. Keep holding her, I need to check something.”
Willow hurryingly rummaged in her back pouch for gloves, she wore them before holding a silver ring. She placed it on the forehead of the creature, it screamed with a hissing sound from where the ring was placed, it was burning. When Willow put it away, it left a mark.
Willow took a chalk stick and a container of salt from her pouch again and started to draw on the floor, something a little too complex for you. The faery took Connie from your and Ais’ hands and threw her in the circle which seems to have invisible walls for us, but Connie couldn’t get out of the circle, she hit the invisible walls.
Willow carefully removed her gloves. Silently.
You were quite shaken by the chain of actions. And could only say:
“Wow.”
“Innit? I do that at least 2 times a week, but today, it’s a little unusual.”
“How so?”
“No curse, no demons, nor tricksters, or ghost, obviously for those last two.” “Rabies?” Ais asked, puzzled. “Kuras would have noticed, Connie’s mother wouldn’t have been sent to me by Kuras otherwise.”
“Well, what is wrong then?” You asked impatiently
“Nothing is wrong with that child”
“...Uh?”
“Be right back, check on her, have a chit chat, I don’t care, I’ll be there in 20 minutes.”
Willow left the bedroom, and directed the mother to go out of the house.
Aside from the invisible wall punching from Connie, the room was silent. Only the heavy accessories of Ais made noise when sitting on the floor while waiting. Playing with the chalk stick willow left on the floor
“So, how you doing sparrow?”
You eventually sat as well on the floor, standing with Ais around for 20 minutes is gonna be long. “Enjoying the crazy internship? Fun right?”
“Not at all, that child is creepy.”
“I know right. Once, a friend of mine owning a brothel had a demonic possessed worker.”
You looked wary at him, suspicious friends he had. By your look, he replied.
“Not a demon like me. That shit was scary.”
“That wasn’t the problem, you have some unusual… friends.”
Ais shrugged with a smirk. “ Jealous?”
“O-Of course not! Why would I be jealous!?”
Ais smirk spread wider, satisfied with your reaction. Oh, he wanted that exact reaction from you. “I hate you.”
“I like you too sparrow”
“Are you deaf? I said I *hate* you!”
“Heard what you said, but it’s a lie.”
“!”
“C’mon, I am trying to tell you a story. To pass time.”
“What is Willow doing anyway?”
Ais shrugged, clueless as much as you.
“She is so unpredictable.”
“That’s the most interesting part, she is bossy too, and has a shitty attitude sometimes, something you both have in common.”
“Fuck off.”
“Compliment, really. Back to my story, that was the first time we saw that, had to help my friend tie that girl to the bed.”
“What.”
“That’s a brothel, what do you expect, tea time? She was dangerous. For herself and others. We contacted Willow, she came, but she never did an exorcism before, as a faery, touching those tools are tricky, allergic to silver, salt, iron, holy water… such things. Crazy cool to watch though. The girl is good now, it worked.”
“She seems full of knowledge, but the least willing to share, not the pedagogical type. She is so distant, cold. “ “Today was a ‘meh’ day, I guess, working during the day, she barely does that. The sun burns her eyes, give headaches, weakens her. Friendlier type at the bar, or in private. But work is work. If she works in broad daylight, it must be urgent.”
You nodded, understanding it a little better.
“Back to Connie. Why did she capture her if nothing is wrong? Something is definitely wrong. A girl full of joy cannot in months turn into such an aggressive thing?”
Ais shrugged. “My knowledge doesn’t go above demons, I don't know for that kid. I sense no demonic energy.”
Willow returned, closed the door and rested her back on it.
“Okay it’s ready, in case the child doesn’t want to speak.”
“Now we are interrogating Connie okay, I truly don’t understand what the hell is happening Willow”
“You will see, hey kid, where are you from? The forest?”
Connie aggressively growled, hissed at Willow, not replying to Willow.
“Nevermind I don’t need the answer for that, what are you? Tell me where Connie is.”
‘Connie’ gave an uncanny smile to Willow, provoking.
“You know, I have the perfect place for you, you’ll talk faster trust me.”
Willow took a thin dagger from her upper arm and made a little wound big enough for some golden blood to appear on the surface of her palm; she made strings out of it, a little similar to Leander’s flower show. It was magic, but here, blood magic, a stronger form. She tied Connie and threw her on her shoulder like a bag of potatoes and went downstairs to the kitchen, both you and Ais followed her. The oven was lit up, ready to bake something, wait. Willow approached a bit too close to the oven with Connie.
Ais became too suspicious too, and decided to step in front of the oven.
“Willow, we don’t eat children for dinner. Come on.”
“ I am still a vegetarian.”
“Then why the fuck are you going to bake that kid?”
“ So they spit the truth?”
“Did the sun hit too hard? It’s a child, a mortal child.”
“A child, yes. Mortal? Negative.”
She pushed Ais and threw the kid tied up in the big oven and closed the door. Screams could be heard from inside. Willow explained:
“We are convoking the real parents.”
Ais raised an eyebrow.
“Ever heard of changelings?”
Willow asked to both of you
“Changelings are infants, but not mortal ones, faery children. That kid isn’t Connie at all, she was swapped with a faery kid.”
“Then where is connie?”
“Good question, MC, Where the fuck is Connie, little shit?”
Willow asked, looking behind her at the oven. The changeling finally begged to be out to reply to the questions. Willow opened the oven and pulled on the tray with the moldy hideous body on it, it wasn’t in the form of Connie anymore, it looked horrific, gray mass of skin with pointy ears, long teeth with chubby cheeks but hollow at the same time, it wasn’t coherent, as if the form changed.
“Damn, that’s an ugly baby.” Ais said, with disgust
“I got to say, Ais, I agree.”
“You were like this as a baby Unicorn?”
Willow looked up at Ais with a frown “I was the cutest little baby of the world Ais, and the smartest, I did my first kill at 5 my dad was so proud. Don’t compare me with this ugly weak changeling”
The ugly wrinkled half baked creature weakly reached to willow who turned her attention to the deceiving faery with a satisfied smile:
“I am all ears”
The changeling told you everything. You stayed with the mother as Willow went into the forest in hope of finding the human child still alive, and not eaten by her relatives. Luck was with them as Willow came back with the real Connie on her back. The mother truly was relieved.
When going up the street to Amaryliss District, all three of you had a chat.
“Rare are the times parents realize just in time something is off with their child, they end up realizing too late when their real child is dead and raising a powerful faery that could potentially eat them too.”
“Aren’t you scared of having troubles with other faeries?”
“I am glad we found Connie in time.”
You couldn’t help but smile, that was a heartwarming comment. And you couldn’t disagree with that.
“That pendant you gave to her, it’s going to protect her?”
“Yes, and the shield you helped me with will prevent more unseelie creatures from touching this family.”
“Your prices are high, to be honest, but mortal lives have no value.”
Willow nods
“Be happy with your wage. The mother will tell a bunch of good stuff about you to others, that’s how marketing works in Eridia. It’s not only currency.”
Willow gave you a heavy pouch of coins, you looked inside, quickly.
“Thank you Willow, that’s a bunch of coins”
“Don’t mention it, it’s a fair wage. You did great.”
You couldn’t help but blush at the compliment. Willow didn’t notice it, thankfully, but Ais did, but didn’t tease you about it, very thankfully.
“Drinks?” He asked, wrapping each arm around you and Willow.
“I cannot say no, I am so thirsty.” You replied.
“It’s on me,” Willow added with a slight smile.
“We are well treated despite the baked changeling, how does it taste? Any morbid facts on that?”
“No.” Willow just said
“Bet it tastes like chicken.”
“Goodness Ais, shut up….” You just replied.
Arrived at the Wet Wick, Leander was already there with his bloodhounds. Ais headed already to get his drink.
“Hey Leander, we baked a child today.”
“WHAT.”
Leander turned flabbergasted, terrified to Ais who kept going to the bar to sit and order his usual drink, he turned back to willow to have an explanation. Mhin frowned to Willow, arms crossed,
“What the hell, Willow?”
“Changeling.”
Leander was immediately relieved. By the wide puzzled moody eyes of Mhim, they didn’t get it. Leander tried to briefly explain it.
“Changelings are baby faeries switched with a human one, so the faery child can be nourished by humans.”
Mhin looked at Willow, puzzled.
“You faeries are weird.”
“Why thank you Mhin. You missed a good wage today, MC did a great job today” Willow replied with a slight smile, gently pressing a hand on your shoulder. Mhin looked at you, pokerfaced, while Leander looked happy, like a proud mother who see his child succeeding in life. Mhin said with a pout:
“Surprised you are still alive.”
“Today wasn’t that bad. Comparing from what Ais told me.”
Ais smirked. Willow was puzzled. And realized what they meant.
“You told about that damn exorcism, I need a drink. Now.”
Leander laughed and prepared her cocktail that she immediately took a swing of it and left the group to talk to other people she knew. You stayed around the bar with Leander Ais and Mhin, Vere soon joined. You had a good time and enriching day, with a potential job.

Common Fanfic Mistakes pt. II: Homophones
Hello hello and welcome to part two! Today I will be clearing up some of the most common mistakes I've been seeing in fanfiction, focusing on homophones, that is words that sound the same but have different spellings and meaning.
If you missed the first part focusing on idioms, you can find it here!
Once again, this is not meant as a criticism but as a helpful reference! Mistakes happen and that's ok but maybe we can learn something.
Disclaimer: I am not a native English speaker myself, so I’m not claiming to be 100% accurate here, but I did do some research and I have a MA in English/International Literature, so I do know a little bit what I’m talking about.
Homophones
Unfortunately, English spelling is a mess. We all know this. And this lead to the existence of many many words that are very similar to each other despite having different meanings, making them easy to mix up. Let's take a look at some of them!
pour vs pore
The rain was pouring in rivulets down the window. He'd been poring over the books for hours now.
to POUR is a word that refers to a liquid or flood of some kind--both literal and metaphorical. Rain can pour from the sky, liquor can pour from a bottle, tears can pour down a face. But a flood of words can also pour out of someone, or a crowd can pour out of a building.
to PORE, as a verb, has only this one very specific meaning: to spend hours bent over a book or ruminating on a problem, trying to find information or solution.
weary vs wary
The long journey had left them weary, but they still couldn't help but feel wary of the weirdly friendly strangers.
WEARY is a state of being tired, exhausted and run down, especially after travel or work. You can also be emotionally weary, when it's just been too much and you need a break.
WARY is a state of being careful and slightly distrustful in circumstances that might not be entirely trustworthy.
leery vs (to) leer
She knew she'd been right being leery when the man leered at her.
LEERY is much the same as WARY, being sceptical and mistrustful.
to LEER refers to a creepy or salacious grin or smile, usually used in an unflattering context.
peak vs peek vs pique
His fatigue reached its peak just as the sun was starting to peek over the horizon. Still, the fog rolling over the hills piqued his interest.
PEAK is the summit of a mountain or a hill, or a more metaphorical height, such as peak traffic hours. Similarly, as a verb, to peak means to reach the highest mark.
to PEEK refers to taking a quick, furtive or premature look at something. Like someone peeking only just around a corner, or someone sneaking to take a look at the christmas presents.
to PIQUE is, once again, a very specific word that is usually used in the phrase "pique someone's interest/curiosity". It derives from the French and is closer in meaning to poke. If someone's piqued, something prodded or spurred them into being, for example, interested, curious, or annoyed.
(w)rack vs wreck
They were wracked with guilt at having to wreck this beautiful, stately old mansion.
to (W)RACK--this can be spelled with or without a w--is to be torn up and tormented, usually with guilt, but sometimes also with poverty, hunger or shivers.
to WRECK means to destroy or lay waste to something
wan vs wane
She looked up at the waning moon with a wan smile.
WAN is something pale, dull or weak, often used to refer to a smile or expression.
to WANE refers most often to the moon, but can also denominate something else dwindling, shrinking or disappearing.
suit vs suite
He was glad to have brought his good three-piece suit, otherwise he might have felt out of place in this fancy hotel suite.
SUIT can mean several things--most commonly a fancy set of clothing consisting of (at least) slacks, a dress shirt and a jacket. But there's also the lawsuit, and it can also refer to a set or series of something--for example playing cards.
SUITE is an apartment or series of rooms, often used in connection with hotels. There it indicates a hotel "room" that consists or more than just one room, like a foyer or a sitting room in addition to the bedroom and bathroom.
And that's all I have for today! I hope you learned something! Are there any other common mistakes that you've noticed while reading? Are there maybe some words that you tend to mix up yourself? Let me know and I might add a part three to this series!
If this helped you, consider sending a small tip my way? Thank you for reading 💜
