Do you think Lafayette was also in a relationship with Hamilton and John? Usually I see people perceiving him as the sort of wingman, and I believe Eliza said his correspondence with Alexander was brotherly- so I was wondering if Lafayette was possibly in a poly relationship with them or if he truly was that one single dude next to his two gay best friends
There is no evidence to substantiate the claim that Lafayette had romantic feelings for any man. He wrote very emotional letters to his male companions, but to me they never seem romantic. Lafayette was a very emotional person who formed very strong platonic attachments, so I think this is a case where you can just chalk it up to how he wrote.
Additionally, I don’t believe Lafayette would have been able to maintain the subtlety necessary to have an illegal relationship in his letters. As stated above, he was just incredibly emotional. I don’t think he would be able to sufficiently understate his feelings if he was actually in love with Hamilton or Laurens, who he already gushed over constantly.
They definitely did have a brotherly relationship. Lafayette was considered a part of Washington’s staff and also his family. While Hamilton and Laurens both didn’t quite reach that level of closeness to Washington, the rest of the aides-de-camp formed bonds that were just as strong and familial.
So, I wouldn’t necessarily think of it as him being a third wheel, but more so as he was an older brother figure to both of them. But no, Lafayette somehow managed to be straight. Like that one John Mulaney bit. You know the one

i know washingdad jokes are more of a fanon, musical thing but really. i genuinely believe in my soul that historical washington was the type of guy to hear his aides chant "we want mcdonalds we want mcdonalds" and silently enter the drive-through just to order one black coffee, no cream no sugar and leave.

When Washington would call his soldiers, did he say "pack it up skittle squad" while John and Alexander made-out in the corner as Lafayette did splits or did I just make it up

Yandere love letter from Napoleon and Marquis de Lafayette to a Wife Reader pls ❤️
Napoleon Bonaparte
My beloved wife,
As I write this letter, my soul burns with an uncontrollable passion for you. From the moment I met you, my life took a turn I could never have predicted. You are the light that illuminates my days, my reason for living, and I cannot imagine a world without your presence.
Every time I look at you, my beloved, I see the beauty and grace that enchanted my heart from the first moment. Your eyes are the stars that guide my path, and your lips, the promise of an eternal love that consumes me. There is no one like you, (Y/N), and there never will be.
Every time our eyes meet, I feel consumed by a burning fire, a passion that knows no limits. Every smile, every touch, every word we exchange is a treasure that I keep in my soul.
My wife, my queen, my whole life is dedicated to you. I'm willing to conquer the world, to fight entire armies if necessary, to protect you and ensure our love lasts forever. Nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate us, because we are one.
In each conquest, in each victory, it will be your name that will echo in my heart. Let the world know that you are the reason I fight, the reason I breathe. And let no one else dare to think of taking your place in my heart, as that would be a fatal mistake.
With love,
Napoleon.
Marquis de Lafayette
My only love,
As I write these words, my heart overflows with a passion that only grows with time. Each day that passes by your side, my beloved, only serves to strengthen the bond that unites us.
Your presence lights up my days and warms my nights, like a radiant sun and a fire burning in my chest. Your eyes, deep as oceans, reflect the love we share and the future I envision by your side.
My beloved, you are my safe haven, the anchor that keeps my soul anchored amid the storm of life. You are the reason why I would face entire armies, the force that drives me to conquer the world, just to be able to offer you the best this world has to offer.
However, I must confess that the thought of anyone else getting close to you, of touching what is mine, makes me disturbed and tormented. My love for you is so overwhelming that I would do anything, absolutely anything, to protect what's ours.
I promise that I will continue to be your devoted and faithful husband, always willing to face the world to ensure your safety and happiness. May the entire world know that you are mine, as I am yours, now and forevermore.
With a love that will never know limits,
Marquis de Lafayette.

I know gwash and lafayette had a close friendship, but were there instances where the two of them had some strong disagreements (like, in almost fighting or just getting displeased with what the other did)?
'Cause while they both had strong opinions on things, lafayette basically workshiped the floor washington walked upon
Hm. That’s a really good question.
There were a few times when there was tension on their relationship. The first I thought of was when Lafayette was stationed in Virginia, and he believed that Washington was planning a big, final battle in New York, since that was what Washington and Rochambeau wanted the British to believe. They couldn’t communicate to Lafayette because of the precariousness of the mission and the distance between them that the final battle would be at Yorktown, and Lafayette would play a vital role. Lafayette got frustrated with Washington during this time, because he felt like he was purposely leaving him out of his dream, which was to play a major role in that final battle.
The second that comes to mind was when Lafayette was in Rhode Island in 1778. There was issues between the American and French officers, namely General Sullivan and Comte d’Estaing. Lafayette was on d’Estaing’s side, and was very angry with Sullivan. Like, really angry. There are only a few times that really stand out of Lafayette getting enraged with the fury of a thousand suns and six European armies, and I would consider this one of them. Washington, who tried to remain unbiased in issues like this, stayed in his typical course of pretty much non-action. And though I can’t exactly recall Lafayette and Washington clashing over this, I do remember Lafayette getting pretty blunt in his communication with Washington at the time.
Other than that, they agreed on almost everything during the war, and when they disagreed, it didn’t have a lasting effect on their relationship; Lafayette was pretty good at getting around disagreements in his friendships.
I say during the war, because afterwards, their correspondence kind of flags, since they both became really busy, one being the President and the other being the head of the National Guard during the French Revolution and then imprisoned for over five years, so they weren’t really bickering much. Though, I will say, it does seem like Lafayette was pretty disappointed in Washington for not doing more to end his imprisonment, but he did understand that Washington’s hands were tied.
So, generally, their relationship was pretty much smooth sailing, and the issues they did have mostly boil down to disagreements on military matters. Lafayette was more of a man of action, whereas Washington had many eyes on him, and therefore couldn’t really take sides as conspicuously. Thank you for the ask

Welcome to my casting for the very serious, extremely scholarly, entirely unfounded, never once requested: Himbo-fication of the America Revolution TV Series that HBO should make asap.
Now, I think we’d all acknowledge there are some founding fathers we just can’t redeem or prettify, I’ve got opinions on them too, and their wives as well and much more, but for our current cause: I present what one might call: Founding Lads. Not all of them. Just the ones I’ve got weirdly settled opinions on. If anyone wants the whole script for this endeavor, it’s been rotting under my bed for seven years. By the time I get it produced these young actors will all be dead, but that’s that and not pertinent to the art of historical Himbo-fication
Now for this last one, I have neither a compelling argument nor a graphic, I simply ask you to imagine this amount of sass playing whichever favorite headache of George Washington’s staff that you prefer. My vote goes to Tallmadge.

i know that some revolutionary officer out there had a burn book about the others. and i know for a fact that washington's fav aides were the plastics in this scenario and they got dunked on.
they were marching around demanding supplies, complaining about bad soldiers, complaining about congress, complaining about the weather, etc. etc. and then going to headquarters, the relative five star hotel, to spend time with the commander in chief. some petty bitch out there absolutely trash talked about them in their journal.
if you vote for me as president i will find this journal and share the funny bits through this blog. thank you.
