There are many many Serious Reasons why I am glad to be living in the 21st century but one of the more personal less serious reasons is the quality of historical research and how much more we know now, and how much has been revealed to be bullshit.
Life is short, I don’t want to spend it reading Victorian moralisers or credulous analysis of primary sources, believing that Anne Boleyn had six fingers and that spices were used to disguise rotten meat.

Can't find the source I need.
All I am getting is something about Marcus Aurelius being into a dude and I do not have time for that

Me as a student: I’m studying archaeology
Random stranger I just met: throws concerned looks, might even ask “can you find a job in that?”
Me as an archaeologist: I work full time as a field archaeologist
Random stranger I just met: oh my god I love archaeology! You know I just saw this documentary and…! I always wanted to become one as well!
Did this happen to other people too? Archaeologists, geologists, (physical) anthropologists, paleontologists,…? People fearing for your future until you actually work in your field of study and than they know no boundaries?

Yes. We know that the strange accounts trying to add us on Instagram are students. Especially when they all come at the start of the semester.

After the horrifying realization that time has passed far too quickly, I‘m scrambling to finish my bachelor’s and sign up for the graduate program… more or less successfully. My conversation with my supervisor went well enough and I am actually looking forward to working on my thesis. I also need a language certificate, however, which is stressing me out immensely… Guess I‘ll just have to hope for the best

When I tell people that I'm majoring in Liberal Arts they just go 'huh, what even is that?' so I've finally decided that from now on I'm just gonna start saying that I'm getting my degree in Weird White Dead People studies

I swear whoever thought (I did) to take up social sciences in unviersity (of my choice) has some serious answering to do because students (me) dont start reading until few days (4) before exam not realising they have AN CONSTITUTION TO HAVE BY HEART ( AT LEAST THE MAJOR PORTIONS) plus other stuff

Currently in that mood where med school, a thing I not only willingly signed up for, but worked for years to get in to, seems like fucking hell and I am regretting every single decision that has led me to this point

After I finished my undergraduate thesis on imperialism in English literature, my supervising professor told me that I should definitely do a master's degree in British and European (and why not Russian) history.
And here I am now, doing only my skincare, reading philosophy and writing articles about vampires and witches in substack.
