My history teacher explaining napoleon complex- it’s like a guy who’s wife left him and he has two kids in middle school so he buys a Porsche, a red Porsche, with the most expensive car insurance, because he doesn’t know who he is anymore

why are history teachers always the nicest people you've ever met, and psychology teachers are sociopaths who have no freaking chill and will call out everything wrong with you and society for a quick laugh with the class?
AND WHY ARE THEY ALWAYS BOTH BEST FRIENDS?!

Basic character profile: Teacher Dolores
Tumblr media
(pictures are not mine but moodboard was made by me- couldn't find a faceless version for the person photo)
Name: Dolores Ripley Character base: an Auntie and a librarian Position: history teacher Subjects taught: history of magic, historical magical figures, magical races around the world, and region specific magic Age: 45 Gender: female (she/her) Sexuality: straight Height: 5ft 5 Eye colour: amber-gold Hair colour: brown Likes: having her husband bring in some of their historical items for classes, collecting important items (sometimes replicas, but she still values them), helping students learn about their history, handing out family tree templates for students to complete (sometimes she sticks them up in the classroom if they let her), giving book recommendations Dislikes: students who sleep in class (she knows some things may be boring, but they’re still important!), misplacing her family picture when it’s supposed to be on her desk, her husband pulling faces behind her back when he comes to help out Homeland: Silvermist Valley Hobby: reading (specifically romance novels), collecting historical things Talents: her memory is incredible, and she can recount stories and extra information on the spot while she’s teaching Magic path: written spells
as Headmistress Selene allows school visitors, Dolores often calls her husband in to help teach about specific items- usually ones they either have, or have a replica of
her husband is adored by the students and they often refer to him as 'Peter Pan', since he's always having fun and making them laugh (although Dolores would rather he stop pulling faces behind her back)
she's very knowledgeable on historical events, as you'd expect, and can often add little stories or bonus facts when going over a textbook
one thing that really makes her day outside of students paying attention, is being asked about what book she's reading; she goes through so many, she always has recommendations for everyone!

Audio books but it’s Michael Sheen reading books as Aziraphale and sometimes you hear David Tennant shouting something obnoxious as Crowley.

As someone who’s living with a middle school social studies teacher, all the posts along the lines of “why did we never learn about this historical event in school” just make me go “because your teacher was supposed to cover all of US history in one year, and they didn’t get to the Revolutionary War until Halloween because they were urged to slow down the progression of the lessons because a more senior teacher was running behind, and they didn’t get to the Civil War until Valentine’s Day because the school kept scheduling every special event during social studies because there’s no end-of-grade testing for that subject, and they didn’t get to WWI until May because they were sick for a few days and the substitute couldn’t do much more than babysit, and now they’re having to do the entire Cold War in two days, so that’s why you didn’t hear about the lesbian inventor of the circus peanut. They would have loved to tell you about the lesbian inventor of the circus peanut!”

Rating Teachers From Different Subjects On How Well They Deal With Students Having Panic Attacks
(A lot of these are my personal experience from two different high schools I went to, pls don’t get mad at me)
Math Teachers- Just pauses what they’re doing to watch it happen until it’s over then just goes back to whatever they were doing.  2/10
English Teachers- “Let’s step out into the hallway.” Stands and watches you intently in the hallway until it’s over.  4/10
History Teachers- “Step outside and come back in when you’re ready.”  7/10
Science Teachers- Stares at you from across the class then asks you about it casually the next day.  5/10
Gym Teachers- Super overdramatic and acts like you’re dying which doesn’t help AT ALL.  -100/10
Theatre Teachers- Literal gods when dealing with panic attacks tho they can get a bit too into your personal space.  100/10
Music Teachers- Does the basic step by step way to stop a panic attack. 9/10
Dance Teachers- Ignores you or yells at you for having a panic attack. -1000/10

Random writing tips that my history professor just told during class that are actually helpful
Download all your sources or print them so you can turn off your wifi
Give your phone to someone
Just. WRITE. Writing is analysing, you’ll get more ideas as you write. It doesn’t need to be perfect, for now you can just blurt out words and ideas randomly. You can fix it later.
Create a skeleton/structure before writing.
Stop before you get exhausted. It’s best to stop writing when you still have some energy and inspiration left, this will also motivate you to get started again next time.
Make a to do list
Work in bite sizes. Even if it’s not much, as long as you put some ideas on paper or do some editing.
Simple language =/= boring language, simple language = clear language.
Own your words. If they are not your words, state this clearly in the text, not just in the footnotes.
STOP BEFORE YOU GET EXHAUSTED. Listing it again because it’s easily one of the best tips a teacher has ever given me.

Jack Black was my history teacher. He just showed the class random music videos that had nothing to do with what we were learning about.

We need more weird historian rep in Doctor Who. The companions are too normal when faced with the prospect of time travel. I want a companion who makes a list of super specific historical destinations related to their dissertation. I want somebody whose first reaction to finding out that the Doctor is a time travelling alien is to create a Microsoft Word document and ask, “What caused the Late Bronze Age collapse?”

✎ yandere! school headcanons . . .
Tumblr media
✎ warnings . . .
― obsessiveness, stalking, possessiveness, mentions of murder, manipulation etc.
(gn! reader x yandere! ocs)
✎ yandere! school where everyone is obsessed and in love with their lovely little english teacher, you.
✎ yandere! students who listen attentively in your class. doing their homework, answering questions and just overall being good students! they'd do anything to make their favourite teacher happy :) fyi they don't do any of these in other classes.
✎ yandere! history teacher who loves talking to you about history! he's so energetic, so sweet :) he also likes talking about his past and how he wishes to make history with you. but you're a little dense and don't see his flirts. it's okay! you'll cave one way or another :)
✎ yandere! math teacher who's cold and stoic to everyone but you. giving you heartfelt smiles, little trinkets (that are very expensive), and lots of red roses! anyone can see that he's courting you, except for you of course. he's a little bit annoyed at your denseness but finds it attractive nontheless.
✎ yandere! school counselor who's there for you when your date dumps you. oh dear! what an asshole he is! don't worry, she's there for you :) after a change of clothes, some hydrogen peroxide and some burying, she's there 24/7 for you!
✎ yandere! school nurse who patches up your wounds and injuries lovingly. how'd you even get these anyways? the small pout and light blush on his cheeks whenever he patches you up always remind you of a small puppy! after patching you up, he thanks the people he hired to hurt you lightly with a wad of cash for the opportunity to be so close to you.
✎ yandere! principal who's an attractive middle aged woman of tall stature. she always gives you a bonus and treats you so kindly! you are ever so thankful for her and the amazing job she allowed you to have :) as if she didn't have her sights on you since day 1.
✎ yandere! security guard who swears he does this for your safety! it's not stalking if he's doing it to keep you safe :( following you around after school hours, scaring away pests that approach you... you see?! he's only doing this to protect you!
✎ yandere! pe teacher who you find kind of weird with how deeply he breathes around you and how his face always flushes pink at the mere mention of your name. and why are his knuckles always bruised? you know he works out a lot but still... it's cause he's always fighting creeps who want your attention silly!!
✎ yandere! school who loves and cares for you in their own little ways. you're their precious darling after all.
