omg ok so butch/femme culture here is like kind of mid HAHAH most people here are masc4masc or fem4fem here in my experience BUT i have been able to find a little butch/femme community for myself here! i have a small group of butch friends who are also into butch/femme culture which is really nice! we r always starved for butches and mascs in general so you’ll probably do very well for yourself 😂 and if u need some friends hmu!!! as far as advice goes, if you’re into going out and going to events, we have a ton of lesbian nightlife and daytime events in general so my best suggestion for finding community is going to those! you tend to run into the same people frequently which is nice. if you have instagram, follow @daveslesbianbar, @dykebeer, @dykedrag, @the_cakeboys, and @gingersbar_brooklyn they always have lil events they do

Hey everyone! I am Belle and as a heads up this is a queued post bc I live on like the opposite timezone of basically anyone in the US so this site is opening before dawn on fri for me and I have work. was born in ulsan, his dad died when he was pretty young and was largely raised by his mom w help from other family members. he is  ✨inspired ✨ by sharp objects (bc i Love it), only less murder-y, but his mom has FDIS (munchausen by proxy) and it influenced his emotional development a lot. 

moved to the island as a teen when his mom remarried, which meant there were new and exciting doctors to visit who weren’t suspicious of her yet. cowabunga, dude. spent a lot of time in his room drawing when he was ~sick~

he’s decently smart, and he did go onto uni for art, but then he got pissed at someone else and sabotaged their assignment by breaking into somewhere he shouldn’t have been and prob broke like 4 school rules in the process and was kicked out his second year. so he never finished. good life choices? check. clearly.

he is vindictive and revenge-driven and will act immediately on those feelings without considering the consequences on getting caught. harang in the moment is always like: i will definitely not get caught. and the narrator is like: that bitch did, in fact, get caught.

is he a good person? no. does he try to better himself every day? also no. memes aside, he does have good qualities but he’s def not sugar and spice and everything nice. if you enjoy complicated, emotionally wrought, and sometimes dark plots 👀 👀 👀 pls come to me, that is what i’m weak and design my chars for.

he’s a webtoon creator/artist. he’s into horror, esp supernatural/paranormal horror. his webtoon is similar in storyline/vibe to something like stagtown? but his art style is different. he takes inspo from junji ito of course. likes consuming horror media/projects as well.

obsessed with herbal tea, has So Many flavors in his apt. 

really into vinyl, though he usually collects based on cover artwork first and music second. likes playing atmospheric music when he’s making art.

he smokes, his favorite is cherry tobacco. they’re bad for his body but he’s pretty sure his body was basically destroyed in his youth so what does it matter anymore anyway?

he has a weird vibe but he’s good at covering it. will default to auto-mirroring people’s gestures and personalities around him without super realizing he’s doing it. if you spend enough time around him though it fades, it’s mostly done for people he doesn’t interact w regularly. 

he has long hair, and yes, that is a personality trait

he’s not always the nicest person but he’s also not mean for the sake of being mean. it can take him a while to emotionally connect to people. he doesn’t frequently get into romantic relationship because of it, def finds casual to be easier. his sense of love and how it should be expressed is ✨very off ✨

he hates doctors, not in a take it personally sense, more just going to the doctors and being treated sense. will avoid going to the hospital At All Costs. 

can be manipulative, and isn’t always the most empathetic person (in this house we support morally grey chars 👏 )

plot ideas -- tbh i often prefer to like talk apps and come up with something organically, but here are a few ~general ideas~ that might be nice to have, and a few that could be starting off points if we’re really stuck.

an ex that was messily resolved and there's some baggage there is always fun. would love if it imploded due to reasons on both their ends rather than like one person being the Saint and the other being a Villain. I want mutually assured destruction and angst tyvm.

conversationalists. they live in the same area and keep running into each other, harang takes frequent smoke breaks outside for instance. but the strange part of it is there’s no real set schedule, and they just keep running into each other even though they're leaving at drastically different times every day. could be fun if they know some deeper pieces of each other’s life without knowing the like basics of each others personalities (like an inverse of basic friends, unbasic not-friends, if you will)

a bff? like we really click together and even though you make bad life choices and are lvl 500 dumb sometimes i’ll still help you with whatever mess you invite upon yourself. can go both ways, of course.

me, sweating and running out of plot ideas i’m brainstorming on the spot, someone who’s into harang’s webtoon. ofc it would need to be ✨developed ✨ so it could be interesting, but yes. OR his anti!!! OR a mix and they're obsessively into it to the point of being creepy. a creepy stan stalking a creepy artist, creep² if you will

i Am a fan of antagonistic plots, i think they’re really fun, esp when both chars are kind of catty about it and it’s not just one being the ~evil~ one, tho i don’t have any ideas on how to get there but if someone really wants one and to figure out a reason why i’m down!!!!

Hi!! I hope you’re having a good day, I had a question. How did you make the gif part of that sheet you made with Ronan? (with the stat wheel + threat level) I really wanted to try doing something similar myself, but I’m having technical difficulties.

HII THANK U SM i hope you have a wonderful day too!! i'm gonna go ahead and assume you have photoshop and if not you can get it from here (thank you red for the link ily MWAH)

i don't know if there's other ways to achieve this. there probably are. but i'll save you the horrors of having to watch a youtube tutorial with a fucking. h*rry p*tter example because that's what i had to do SO. let's get right into it >:)

1) make sure you have your template and a gif ready, preferably similar in pixel size so you won't have to do a lot of resizing. i gave my template a transparent background and left the frame where the gif goes open so i can essentially layer the template over my gif :) i'm assuming you know how to make gifs but if you don't you'll have to look up some tutorials for that! please don't use other people's gifs without their permission

2) open both the template and gif in photoshop and go to the template

3) click window > animation to open your timeline, then click the little dropdown arrow and select "create frame animation" and click it to create one

4) swap to your gif and click the little hamburger menu in the top right corner of your animation timeline, then click "select all frames" and "copy all frames"

5) swap back to your template, click the little hamburger menu again and "paste all frames", make sure "paste over selection" and "link added layers" are selected before pressing ok in the popup!

6) make sure only the first frame in your timeline is selected and in the hamburger menu click on "match layer across frames", make sure all three options are selected before pressing ok in the popup!

7) optional step: in your layers tab on the right side of your screen, scroll all the way down to your template layer and drag it all the way to the top to layer the gif underneath the template if that's something you need to do!

8) in your layers tab on the right side of your screen, select any layer of your gif (so not the template itself), can just be one because they're all linked, then select edit > free transform. you can now reposition your gif to wherever you want! don't forget to hit the checkmark in the top banner of photoshop when you're done moving it :)

9) and that's it! now you can save it as a gif (file > export > save for web, don't forget to loop it!) and that's your template :D make sure to stay preferably under 9mb for optimal quality if you want to post it on tumblr!

Frowning, you glance at him again, still behind you and wrapped around your middle… however Bakugo’s expression has since morphed, from something tight and neutral to seething; his eyes now wide open and on fire, temper scalding something hot and fierce even without any words.

He repeats himself again, finally, about as dumbfounded as someone so smart can get, and in his angry stupor, his question, you let your eyes fall to the ground

Still, he persists and you melt, embarrassed by how quickly the icebergs of doubt that float in your mind thaw into a soothing balm that is all Bakugo, your child’s father, and your lover, in every shapes and forms of the word, “…and I’d be one sorry motherfucker not to lay my hands on you.”

Angel’s Lullaby update:

i wrote two devlogs this month.

first: i cover the history of Angel’s Lullaby and the current progress.

second: the plans I have for gameplay

TLDR; Angel’s Lullaby is a Open World Action/Turnbased RPG hybrid. You’ll have a small island to explore with 3 main areas and multiple side-quests. For the demo, I plan only having 1 area finished.

Game progress: eh, hard to put a good number on it. main characters and the main overworld are mostly finished, mapping + main area need planning. i’d say a bit less than 50% done with the demo.

below the read me i discuss game development that i’m not talking about on Gamejolt, but feel more comfortable talking here.

so been working with a friend on remaking (well, rather, i’m helping a little but it’s mostly just him,,, i’m not a skilled programmer but at least i’m keeping up with what he’s teaching me ^_^; so thanks to eternal shine, u rock!) the char_player object to work better for Angel’s. also, aside from the outfit code, this main stuff will be added as a pack for TML’s engine for better functionality. hooray! this includes:

adding arrays and macros to dialogue text

cut-scene system (almost done)

char_player state machine (has a couple issues for Angel’s specifically, which is discussed below.)

(WIP) Gameplay wise, I’m going for a Zelda-Like over-world: you can walk, run and attack. Monsters will be on over-world, you can get an advantage if you strike first. You’ll also need your weapon to move around the terrain or solve puzzles. (potentially will add more to the move-set as you progress, but that’s later in the development to consider)

i made a base-player object to fine tune the animation and add details like optional gloves + boots easier for me to add (gotta get into the headspace of using layers more in aesprite!) I’m unsure if I like the dust effect, but I think it helps the running look speedy and feel different to walking!

honestly all this development should of been done before but i was torn between using TML’s base project char object and remaking my own for ages. (plus, i spent the last few months unsure if i was moving to Unity or Godot) but hey, doing that now. i’ve been mainly working on story so its nice to actually start building the game again! the non-player stuff with naming + intro are already done of course, though will need to be remade as I’ve improved as an artist and with the new cut-scene system I can do this more efficiently.

my main plan is to get a prototype of the first 5 minutes of the game done within a week. ideally i’d like to make a fully-polished prototype within that week as well, but that’s idealistic at best... i’m shooting for 2 weeks, though that could easily become 3 weeks.

none of this will be available to play yet btw, after the prototype, i want to be able to get some feedback (heyo if u wanna be a play-tester hmu) then i’ll get to making it so you can get the first “area” mapped out.

my idea is that the above will be playable in the demo. you’ll have a house (to farm and have chores) explore the local woods and mountain area for side quests and just for fun.

the one main area will be the start of the linear story. the final release you’ll have access to the whole island -within reason. The other 2 areas will be soft-locked until you progress the plot in the main area. while this limits the open-world aspect, i like the idea of holding back the choices until certain parts of the game are established first. then you can run around wild! The second and third main areas are your choice to which to do first -and the plot will play out differently depending on that.

There’s still the obvious No Mercy - Neutral - Pacifist choices in play here as well. I’m limiting the scope of this to have the last 2 areas be different, but the overall plot line stays some-what the same. (if i was being paid, that’d be a different story lmao) but still, all of this will add up and hopefully be exciting to experience.

I really want exploration and the feeling that you are living in this world to be the main get-away from the game. while the most important core of the story lies within The Knight and the Player Character, this is my second biggest goal for the game.

I hope you all enjoy Angel’s Lullaby and are as excited as I am to see it progress! thank you so much for all those who’ve been sticking by me and my stories throughout the years. i’m really hoping for a demo release in 2022.

if any mutuals are intrigued by this game’s potential... i’m up for talking story again once this prototype stuff is finished up with. atm i wanna concentrate on making the core game-play feel good and i’m not worried about the story. but once that’s finished, there’s a lot of story problems -that some have been solved by the open-world structure, but just as many glaring issues have arisen. it’s a pretty daunting story now haha.

while i got a few new team members, I’d like a few more people to talk to deeply over this project. It feels great to spit-ball ideas back and forth! but I also understand people are busy and I’ve already asked a lot from people with the rough draft peer-reviews lmao. i guess i’ll just put this here in the off chance something comes out of it.

blending gifs tutorial

hi! first of all, thank you so much🥺 i spent a lot of time and energy on that set so i really appreciate it<3

secondly, of course!! i’m the worst at explaining things, so bear with me and feel free to ask if anything is unclear and/or you need more explaining :)

let’s go!

PART ONE

okay so first, i pick my clips (tip: make sure the “main” one has as little movement as possible, otherwise it’s gonna make things way more difficult. also, choosing clips that have matching colors helps A LOT). i import them into photoshop and do the usual, which is sharpening and coloring. if the two gifs don’t have the same amount of frames, delete some from the longer one so that they do, but i’m sure everyone knew this already. so now we have these:

(in this case i added a layer set to soft light and with a very soft brush painted around julie using a purple color so that it matched a little bit better, you might need to do this depending on the scene)

then i copy the frames of the second gif and paste them over the first one and immediately group them and set the group to screen, like this:

next, i lower the opacity and hit cmd+t (or ctrl+t for windows users) so that i can move the second gif around and still see the other one that’s lying below and i can decide where to put it. when i’m done doing this, i add a mask to the group (aka the second gif) and with a very soft brush set to black i start deleting the parts that i don’t want to show up (basically everything over julie). in this case i did leave some (like, ever so slightly) over her hair because i felt like it made the blending more seamless, but it very much depends on the scene and of course personal preference! now you should have something like this:

if this is what you want, you can stop reading! but i added a few more steps in my set which i’ll explain now :)

PART TWO

open the group where you have your second gif’s layers and on top of everything, add a gradient layer (do not choose which gradient/the colors yet! i mean of course you can but i’ll explain in a second what i did in mine) and set it to hard light.

choosing the gradient colors:

now’s the part i’m gonna have the most trouble explaining so again, just bear with me.

the angle of the gradient is really important in this case: i always set mine horizontally (so around 0° or 180°, even if not perfectly at those angles, if it makes sense), with the darkest color on the same side of the first gif (for example, in this case julie is on the right, so the darkest color of my gradient will be on the right and the lightest on the left). for the actual colors, i use the color picker to select the darkest color and i pick from the background of the first gif (sometimes you’re gonna have to mess around a little to find the perfect color but don’t move away too much or it’s gonna become messy, in my experience at least). for this gif, i picked from around here:

for the lightest color (which i already did in the screenshot above) i usually use the color picker again and pick a color that’s popping in the first gif, in this case from julie’s dress (if there is no popping color it’s okay! you can just move around the color board and find the one you like best - of course you have to remain within the shade you want to use!). just mess around with these shades until you get your desired result.

and voilà, you’re done!

sometimes the colors in the second gif (the blended one) do not match at all what you’re trying to do and that can be a pain in the ass. in those cases, it helps me to add a black and white gradient map (set to normal, 100% opacity) underneath the gradient. 

i only used this trick on one gif (the other side of hollywood) but nothing prevents you from doing it all the time! it’s gonna look like this:

as you’re gonna realize, it’s much easier than it looks, all you gotta do is practice and mess a lil bit around with the colors until you get the perfect result.
