How long do you think HND will go on for?
Until I die!
Or like at least a really really long time, like I'm only on part 2 of 3 planned so far. Not that I have every intricate part of those parts planned but I have a general direction for them all.
This hyper fixation has been with me for the last like 8 years I don't think it's dying down any time soon.
sorry if you wanted it to end XD this part is where we start dating though so hopefully this slow burn can finally stop.

One Lonely Night (Joe x Reader)- Part 1
(One night in October of 2020, I couldn't sleep. I reached over to my phone, and wrote this entire fic within the next hour or so. It's angst. It's all angst. I originally thought it was too angsty to post, so I sat on it for 2 years. Enjoy the angst)

TW: nightmares/description of panic attack
Words: 1,950
Prompt: Post-HND/pre-Pyro era. You bunk with Joe at he and Denise's house one winter night, but someone has a nightmare, and it causes you to take a good look at your relationship.
-----
February, 1982
He'd awoken with a scream of high alarm at an ungodly hour. It was enough to scare you awake as well, and in due time, you found yourself unexpectedly holding him tight and rocking him gently.
You were in his room with him that night, but it was only for one night; one night that you were staying with him, one night that Denise was gone, and one night where it was supposed to get drastically cold.
The expected- but sudden- extreme drop in the temperature made Joe forbid you from sleeping on the sofa (as was the original plan). Instead, he insisted you claim Denise's vacant spot on their bed in order to be shielded from the briskness.
You couldn't argue. It was logical and considerate of him not to leave you in the cold. Who were you to object to a warm, cozy bed?
It was only for one night. It was just supposed to be a simple, freezing, straightforward night. You were supposed to sleep, wake up, eat breakfast, and get on your way.
Things went a little differently.
That's how you found yourself here.
Your hand was resting on the back of his head, "Shh..."
You'd been embraced like this for only a fraction of a moment. Though his heart hammered against your chest, Joe wasn't out of breath as badly anymore. His overall weakness made itself visible through the way he held onto you; it felt as if he were really trying, but wasn't doing his best. Despite all you'd been through, you'd never seen him so terrified.
After a quick but steady moment of you holding him like this, you felt him start to shudder occasionally, and warm tears began to seep into your shoulder.
"It's alright, I'm right here..."
He held onto you tighter.
"You're safe now, it's over..."
It had then occurred to you that you'd never seen him cry before, and you were surprised he let himself go so easily. It broke your heart to see him so brittle.
"Just in and out... you'll wake up in a moment..."
A dead silent room at 3:00am felt like a rather eerie place to be recovering from a nightmare, now that you came to think of it. Darkness was still everywhere despite the lamp being on. It didn't feel much safer than whatever unpleasant dream Joe had been mercifully removed from.
You gave him time and hoped he'd come around. At any given instant, you expected him to retract himself and go back to normal. After all, that was the Joe you always knew.
The seconds ticked away, but he didn't seem to be coming down. Whatever had scared him left him petrified, and your efforts felt ineffective to say the least. He didn't feel like he was becoming more grounded, either, so you decided to do the only thing you could think of in order to appease him.
Because in the end, it was something you knew would capture your Joe's attention.
"Let me put my arms around your head..." you very softly and very slowly sang to him. Your fingers on the back of his head tenderly stroked his hair.
"Jee, it's hot, let's go to bed..."
You felt his muted sobbing gradually stop, and the tension he wrapped around you began to become loose.
"Don't forget to turn on the light..."
He was still shivering slightly from the chills of terror, but his breathing had slowed.
"Don't laugh, babe, it'll be alright..."
Who knew such an amply sized man could become so small? Joe certainly wasn't afraid to be vulnerable at times, but this- this was an extreme that made you wonder if it had ever happened before. You had never heard of him having nightmares in the past, and you knew this wasn't a good time to ask on that matter. Perhaps this was just a particularly unlucky occasion that you just so happened to be there for.
Still, though, whatever history Joe had with this sort of thing, you were happy that he wasn’t currently alone.
"Pour me out another phone, I'll ring and see if your friends are home..."
In an unexpected turn of events, Joe began to whisper along with the lyrics.
"Perhaps the strange ones in the dome, can lend us a book, we can read up alone..."
You closed your eyes in relief. Grounded-- he was becoming grounded. He was coming around and breaking from the illusion his tainted dreams had trapped him in minutes ago.
"And try to get it on like once before..."
You were still rocking him gently, secretly hoping he'd want to stay safely concealed in your arms for just a little longer.
"When people stared in Jagger's eyes and scored, like the video films we saw..."
You fell quiet, feeling the man in your arms may have been fully back in his body once again. You decided to test those waters.
"Are you okay now?"
There was silence for a few seconds. You hoped to god he would revert back to his normal talkative self; it would've been a wonderful sign that he was okay.
Instead, he reassured you in a different way.
He very softly continued the Bowie lyric, "His name was always Buddy..."
You smiled to yourself, shutting your eyes and continuing in the way you were before, "And he'd shrug and ask to stay..."
His hair in between your fingers, the damp stains of tears on your shoulder- it all made you feel horribly close to Joe. It all happened so fast that you didn't have time to process just how deeply intimate the whole scenario was.
"She'd sigh like Twig the Wonder Kid, and turn her face away..."
Your mind went back to Denise; had this ever happened around her? What was her level of providing intimate comfort for Joe? Were you being just as intimate- possibly more intimate- than he was with her? How vulnerable would Joe let himself get around his girlfriend?
"She's uncertain if she likes him, but she knows she really loves him..."
Either way, you decided it didn't matter. This was clearly a one-of-a-kind moment, and how you were handling it was clearly making an impact.
Joe appeared appreciative of your comfort, and that was satisfactory for you.
"It's a crash course for the ravers, it's a drive-in Saturday."
You squeezed him just a little tighter, asking again, "You think you're okay now?"
He slowly peeled himself away from you, wiping his eyes and avoiding looking into yours.
"Yeah, I'm alright," his voice was a mere grumble, accompanied by a sniff, "I'm sorry I woke you up."
"That wasn't your fault."
Quietness settled between you again. You didn't quite know what to say, so you let your curiosity come forward in the name of caring.
"Does this normally happen?"
A solemn shake of Joe's head.
"Never like this. Never... this bad."
You frowned.
"This has happened before?"
"Few times," he was still looking down, "It's just... stress. It's kinda the- the same dream, but never this... vivid."
The admittance of stress came as no surprise to you; everyone was stressed lately. Recording the third Def Leppard album was starting to take its toll on everyone involved; especially Joe. Mutt was a best friend of the band, but he was also insanely particular. He was hard on everyone, and everyone took it the wrong way no matter what. There'd already been one occasion where Mutt had reduced Joe to tears in the vocal booth, and- though you weren't there for it- the tension in the studio had been painfully palpable ever since.
With this in mind, your next course of questioning would've been to acquire more detail about Joe's nightmare, but you could tell he was growing more and more uncomfortable as it seemed. You made up your mind to pass up on those questions for the moment.
Instead, you took his hand and beckoned him to lay down with you again. The bulk of his heightened panic seemed to be mostly gone, and he looked like he was growing rather tired from the sudden drop in adrenaline. His nerves still felt physically uneasy; you could feel this through his hand.
"What do you normally do when this happens? Does Denise help you?"
Joe sighed and wiped his eyes, ashamed, "...it's never happened around her before. I’ve never... told her."
Ah. There was the answer to your question. You were being more intimate than his girlfriend.
"I think you should talk to her about this, okay? Just so she's not surprised if this sort of thing happens. You can trust her; she loves you."
Joe's eyes closed, hiding the remaining, shameful tears in his eyes, "Okay."
You remained holding onto his hand in an effort to keep him grounded. You were both back under the covers now, lamp still on, and you told him to close his eyes and focus on the feeling of your hand in order to fall back to sleep peacefully.
"Picture yourself holding Denise's hand," you suggested, "Picture that she's here with you, protecting you, and telling you that everything is alright."
What Joe said next nearly took away your own feeling of being grounded. It hit you when you least expected it.
"I don't want to, cos I still need you here..."
It left you speechless. You had known nearly all the right things to say since you'd woken up, but now found yourself mute.
"I'm not going anywhere," you reassured him with a squeeze of his hand, choosing not to dwell on what he said, "The only place I'm going is back to sleep, and it's the same place you're going, too. I'll be right here."
Joe's breathing finally sounded 100% normal again, and the sound of it relieved you. He'd strengthened up since he'd unexpectedly awoken, now finally seeming a bit like the usual exhausted version of himself.
Your Joe was back.
"You're a great friend, Y/N..." Joe mumbled his weary thoughts, clearly drifting off once more, "I'm so lucky to have you..."
You squeezed his hand one last time, "I'm lucky to have you, too."
Everything felt as cozy as it’d been when you first climbed into bed. You were slightly afraid that in the morning, Joe would rather not mention this whole scenario. That was understandable. The only thing about that that worried you- was the thought of this night being forgotten from your friendship.
The only thing you wanted in this exhausted moment was to hold onto this new breed of intimacy-- for as long as you could.
This higher level of friendship peaked for only one, freezing night. It was one night where you and Joe shared a bed, one night where you comforted him after a terrible nightmare, and one night where you found a new meaning to the word 'intimate'. Platonic intimacy could also be a form of protection, and it seemed to be just the antidote for Joe's fears. As long as you both stayed in bed- your midnight mind was certain- this protection you had over him wouldn't fade.
As you drifted off alongside your weary and worn-out friend, it occurred to you exactly why you were sharing the bed with Joe in the first place: it was warm, it was comfortable.
It was safe.

How can get student finance in UK
Tumblr media
Eligibility for Student Finance for UK Students
Whether you enable student finance depends on:
your university or college
if you have already completed a higher education course
your age
your nationality or residency status
your course
Your university or college
This should be a university, college, or other educational institution that provides a qualifying course.
If you have already completed a higher education course
If you’ve studied before
You may be eligible for student finance if your course is in the UK and one of the following:
a Foundation Degree
a first degree, for example BA, BSc or BEd
a Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE)
a Certificate of Higher Education
a Higher National Diploma (HND)
a Higher National Certificate (HNC)
an integrated master’s degree
an Initial Teacher Training course
a pre-registration postgraduate healthcare course
If you’re studying part-time
To be eligible for student aid, your course must have a ‘course intensity’ of 25% or above.
If your course is in the UK and you meet one of the following criteria, you may be eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan:
a Foundation Degree
a first degree, for example BA, BSc or BEd
a Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE)
a Certificate of Higher Education
a Higher National Diploma (HND)
a Higher National Certificate (HNC)
an integrated master’s degree
an Initial Teacher Training course
If your course is in the UK and you meet one of the following criteria, you may be eligible for a Maintenance Loan:
an Initial Teacher Training course (if it’s degree level or above)
a first degree, for example BA, BSc/BEd
a Foundation Degree in dental hygiene & dental therapy
an integrated master’s degree
a DipHE in dental hygiene & dental therapy or operating department practice
If you’re taking a Degree Apprenticeship, you won’t be eligible for student loans.
If you’ve studied before
Even if your previous degree was self-funded, you’ll normally only be eligible for student aid if you’re pursuing your first higher education certification. In specific circumstances and for particular courses, you may still be eligible for limited support.
If you changed course, stopped your studies or are repeating a year
If you leave your course before the first year is up, you’ll be eligible for financing for the same or a different programme when you return.
You might also get funding if you:
You suspended or withdrew from your course before it concluded, and now you can enroll in any course you want.
are returning to the same university, college, or institution to repeat a year of your course.
You can figure out how much you’ll get by adding one year to the entire number of years in the course you’re applying for. Then subtract the amount of years you spent studying. If you studied for a portion of a year, you should count it as if you had studied for the entire year.
Example
If you are applying for a 3 year course and have studied 5 months of a different course, you’ll get 3 years of funding.
If you are applying for a 4 year course and have studied 2 years of a different course, you’ll get 3 years of funding.
If you already have a degree
In rare instances, you may be eligible for restricted funding.
If you’re ‘adding up’ a higher education certificate, such as an HNC, HND, or Foundation Degree and now wish to pursue an Honours degree, you may be eligible for restricted assistance.
If you have an Honours degree or a higher level of qualification and are starting a new programme, you may be eligible for restricted support. This could be a part-time Honours degree, a joint Honours degree, or an Integrated Master’s degree in one (or two if it’s a joint Honours degree) of the following fields:
agriculture and related subjects
biological sciences
architecture (if it’s a March RIBA Part 2 course)
computer science
medicine and allied subjects
mathematical sciences
technologies
physical sciences
courses leading to qualification as a veterinary surgeon
If you start a healthcare course on or after August 1, 2017, you may be eligible.
Your age
There’s no upper age limit for Tuition Fee Loans or grants. Age are important  for Eligibility for Student Finance.
If you’re 60 or over
You may get limited funding for Maintenance Loans if all of the following apply:
you’re 60 / over on the first day of the first academic year of your course

your course started on or after 1 August 2016

London is the top-ranked city in the QS Top Student Cities 2023 list and is home to 18 universities. The universities of Oxford and Cambridge are proud of their alumni list, which includes a long list of intellectuals, Nobel Laureates, artists, and politicians, including TS Eliot, Amartya Sen, Hugh Grant, Oscar Wilde, David Attenborough, Charles Darwin, and Bertrand Russell, among many others. The Quality Assurance Agency conducts yearly inspections of the universities in the United Kingdom (QAA). These inspections guarantee that the universities adhere to the standards established by the government for teaching, learning, and research. Students that are studying in the UK for The National Health Service are available to people for longer than six months. Students are permitted to work 20 hours per week in this nation, and the weekly minimum pay is GBP 118. Of all Anglophile nations like the US, Canada, Australia, and Ireland, the UK has the highest student satisfaction score at 90%. To make studying and living in the UK hassle-free for overseas students, the majority of UK universities operate student support centers that offer guidance on a variety of concerns. The top sending nations for students to the UK are Nigeria, Ghana, Italy, France, China, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Greece. Most foreign students sign up for the following courses: Undergraduate: This is a three-year bachelor's degree program. Most degrees are conferred with honors. Wales, England, and Northern Ireland all require three years to complete. Many Scottish universities may require four years for this. The length of many vocational and professional courses can vary. For instance, a medical and dental school may require six years to finish. Graduate: Students in the UK may apply for both taught and research master's degrees. It would take one year to finish a taught master's degree, two years to complete a research master's degree, and three years to complete a doctoral degree. The Master of Business Administration can be finished in one to two years. It would take 2 to 7 years to finish the Doctorate program. Vocational Sub-Degree Diplomas: In the UK, there are numerous vocational sub-degree diplomas available. A few of the more well-known ones among them include the Higher National Certificate (HNC), the Higher National Diploma (HND), and the Diploma in Higher Education (Dip HE). These diplomas are often earned in a year or two. The first and second years of the degree program are not required of international students who enroll in state colleges for 2-year vocational degrees. Several tutorial institutions have one-year diploma programs, which are often compared to one year of university study. These degrees allow graduates to enroll in the university's second year.

Have some HND questions - 1. Does Y/N still go to the Firelight Cafe to visit Louisa, Grillby, and Missy/Muffet? 2. Does the spider monster have her own business yet? 3. Are the parents of Y/N and her brothers still living somewhere?
Yes MC still goes to Firelight to visit everyone there. Her and Lousia often will catch up over coffee during quiet periods or MC will drop by to pick up some pastries. Missy does not have her own Cafe yet. The year is almost up though so she will be able to open one soon. She is trying to decide if she wants to open it in the city that they are in or move back to a city that is more monster friendly.
Yeah so Asha lives in the city where Clover Corp headquarters are, Damian lives at the Hatch for most of the time but he also has a dingy apartment that he makes it back to occasionally. Nathan practically never leaves his lab but has moved it to the base of Mt Ebott and he is living in a monster community. Monster communities let Humans in; it's just that there is a higher population of monsters. Michael lives in the same City as MC the two just never have time to catch up. As for MC’s parents, their Dad is living in the same city as Asha, Asha wants him to live with him but their Dad doesn’t want to be looked after by his son. Their mum is not going to be in the picture. I think I’m going to try and leave it ambiguous whether she just left or died but basically MC was raised by a single dad and her brothers.

Listening to DSH from start to finish for the FIRST TIME EVER
It's midnight here so this is all going to be intelligible
Take What You Want- It's literally OTTN/HND + Euphoria + kinky dilfs and I'm just ARRRRHHGHGHHGHHHHHHH it's a very Joe + Sav song
Kick- I'm literally addicted to this song the lyrics are so sexy I can't take it it's so glam i just gffregerrerergffgr at this point it's my fav song from the album out of the 3 I've heard already and idk how they're gonna top it but I know they will somehow
Fire It Up- IT'S SLANG IT'S SLANG IT'S SLANG IT'S SLANG IT'S SLANG IT'S SLANG Joe can fuck me up with a low register any day ESPECIALLY when it's borderline rapping and I just feel like it's a Leppard song we've been waiting for for a long time and never knew it
This Guitar- I was 2 years old when this song was written it sounds like Unbelievable gone country it's a VERY un-Leppard song and you get whiplash from it after a very Leppard song like Fire it Up but Joe's voice was totally MADE FOR THIS SONG and Alison Krauss' voice was made to be with Joe's?? CAN WE HAVE JOE HARMONIZING WITH A FEMALE VOCALIST MORE OFTEN?????
SOS Emergency- A very self titled song if I do say so myself- reminds me of Dangerous more than anything also 'turn me on just turn me on' Joe be careful what you wish for
Liquid Dust- Right off the bat Slang/X vibes like Pearl of Euphoria meets Gravity and Torn to Shreds and it feels like this song needs to be played as a thunderstorm approaches or something also did I mention I'm a big fan of the drums on this album
U Rok Mi- THAT UKULELE TRANSITION OH FUCK YEAH. UNH. This one is definitely high on my list rn idk there's just something about it maybe it's the A CAPPELLA IDK mAYBE IT'S JOE'S SEXY GRAVELY VOICE IN THIS IDK MAYBE
Goodbye For Good This Time- Ah yes there's the piano we were promised. Also this is straight up Walking to Babylon by Down N Outz at least it is to me. This is another very un-Leppard song imo but that acoustic tho like hoooooooo I kinda hope we get a music video for this and I can't explain why maybe it's bc I want dramatic sad soap opera Joe maybe
All We Need- i got a sense of impending doom when this song started don't ask me why. it's 12:30am and I'm starving. This one also gives me X vibes? "this ain't no bedtime story" well it is for me Joe. I hope there's another good vibes song soon. is it bad i like the outro of this better than the whole song?
Open Your Eyes- LET'S HEAR IT FOR RICHARD ELIZABETH SAVAGE. This is Pearl of Euphoria 2022. This one is an orchestra itself and definitely near the top of my list, too. It's very un-leppard in a few VERY good ways.
Gimme a Kiss- oh FUCK YEA. As soon as this song began I went "uh oh- I have a bad feeling this is the one I'm gonna love more than Kick..." yeah I REALLY like this one totally not making me blush or anything 👁//👄//👁 hoohooheehooo this one is the competitor for my #1 spot with Kick WHEN THE KISS NOISE HAPPENED AT THE END I LITERALLY SAID "EXCUSE ME??????????" OUT LOUD IN MY DEAD QUIET HOUSE AT 12:43AM FUCK YOU JOE STOPPPPPPPP I literally did not pause this album since I started playing it EXCEPT WHEN JOE SMACKED HIS LIPS
Angels (Can't Help You Now)- another Down N Outz-esque song and I'm starting to fall asleep so my comments are running thin- it sounds familiar but I can't put my finger on it? also that ending IS Aladdin Sane well done boys you finally did it
Lifeless- SHE'S BAAAAAAACK! holy shit i just wanna give Joe a hug after hearing this and that ending ;-; also gives me early 00's sad pop vibes
Unbreakable- DEADASS THOUGHT THIS WAS 10538 OVERTURE. The room started spinning. This is an odd combo of X + self titled that WORKS. the line "it's unmistakably love" made me :#{} I never want it to end but I'm starving and about to pass out so I also want it to end ALSO ALL THESE A CAPPELLA ENDINGS ARE THE DEATH OF ME
From Here to Eternity- unmistakably Sav. Kings of the World. Creepy waltz. I could've listened to just the instrumentals for 20 hours straight
and so ends the first of thousands of listens for the rest of my life

These are backgrounds I created for the Unit 33 Applied Practice Collaborative project for my HND course in year 2. The project was to create a collaborative presentation on the climate crisis, with a group of people from our class. The group I was in had five people including me, and we all assigned roles to each other for the project. One of my roles was to create the backgrounds for the presentation, as illustration and drawing are two of my strengths.
I created the backgrounds using my drawing tablet to sketch out ideas based on the climate crisis. I then asked my team members which ones they wanted to use and then finish the final backgrounds for them.
Each background has a name: The green one is called “Green Foliage”, the purple one is called “Melting Ice Cave”,  the blue one is called “Pottery Waves”, the pink one is called “Fire flowers”, and the yellow one is called “Forest Fire”.
The backgrounds were created in Photoshop by me.
