I need to know why your tag on Steve Yzerman was yoga boy, but more urgently I would like to politely request pictures, of like, I guess 90s yoga pants? Did they have yoga pants?

in a press conference today, the issue of him apparently sitting in zoom meetings with draft prospects with his camera off and microphone muted was raised. by way of explanation for this, he stated that he was "doing yoga for most of the interviews," and didn't want that to be a distraction. and that alarming string of words has been occupying my head literally since i heard them.

as for yoga pants, i don't think i have any pictures of those specifically, although steve seemed to be a fan of short shorts in his day so i guess i can post those in some sort of hockey-legwear-lieu ?

1st period: Islanders score two goals. everything is terrible, RMNB is slowly breaking down on Twitter

2nd period: kuzy scores, ovi scores. tie game. there is hope, insidious and terrible

3rd period: ovi scores again pretty early in the period, caps manage to hang on for the rest of the game. braden posted a .923 SV%, and was absolutely clutch when he needed to be.

nicke did not hold up any signs, but we did get some cuts to him in the stands first being visibly frustrated (there's a gifset of him adjusting his hat in aggravation), and then to him after the Caps' goals.

some dumb penalities happened, as always, but the PK was perfect.

other notes: jakub and kuzy shaved their heads. at least ovi, kuzy, kovy, osh, and radko shaved their beards down into goatees. kuzy was asked about it post game, and said, "What happened with the team stay with the team."

ovi has 69 playoff goals in his career, and has passed sidney crosby (68)

Hi! I just saw that you mentioned having done equine therapy as an assistant and I'm really curious what the process/method/schooling is to become an assistant, it's a dream I feel shy sharing but I'd love any practical advice. Sorry if this was intrusive!

hi hello! not intrusive at all! i don’t think that i am the best person to give advice on the process of actually becoming a licensed assistant, but i did work with two programs over the course of several years, in two different states. i worked with our patients who ranged in age and physical ability, some of whom were children and some of whom were adults. 

i had multiple years of experience working with horses, as i had ridden them for about 10 years at that point, and that was kind of a major “selling point” for me as a volunteer. i worked as both a horse lead and also as a side walker, which is to say, keeping a hand on the patient as they’re on the horse and either helping them to hold the correct position, or stabilizing them with the movement of the horse, or being an extra set of hands to hand up rings, flags, or other extra materials for the patient, depending on what the lesson dictated. 

there’s a decent amount of training that goes into being a first time volunteer, but a lot of it is focused on maximizing the safety with both the horse and the patient. and of course there’s also standard horse care that plays a role, like mucking stalls, grooming and tacking up the horses for each rider - with specific tack for both the size and strength of the rider, and also with what they need. 

i was definitely coming at it as a horse lover who wanted to help with something more, and if memory serves correctly, there were definitely trainers who were still going through specific certification practices while they were leading sessions. 

i know that some of these trainers were mental health/psychiatric nurse practitioners, as well as getting board certifications for more specific treatments, like trauma, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, etc, as well as specific certifications to work with equines in this manner. 

what i would suggest as your “game plan” so to speak would be this: 

start volunteering at an equine therapy center near you and talk to the trainers about their respective life paths. certifications/education achievements per therapist are often listed on their websites, and you can even see what school they went to and figure out if that’s something you’d like to pursue!

research what the standards are for your state (or country, depending on where you’re from/where you want to have this practice) bc some certifications are on a state by state basis, while graduate programs & degrees tend to be good universally (it gets tricky with international certifications but that’s its own thing)

undergrad B.S. or B.A. in psychology, and then go from there; it is also possible to get involved in mental health programs from other majors in undergrad, but this i think would be the “straightest shot”

there’s many ways to get involved in something like this but i would definitely start with the above and see where it takes you!

oh for sure, it is very andre. he got into some rando’s car in DC, thinking it was his uber, and told the guys who he was. they recognised the name as caps fans, although apparently it took a little convincing them that it really was him (but i mean, how many brunet swedes are there roaming washington city that are also ditzy enough to just get into a stranger’s car....?). they ended up giving him a ride and they got a pretty hilarious story and a photo out of it in return. thankfully no falling asleep and waking in PA this time, just a friendly ride home - all’s well that ends well i guess!
