The sweet moment is so sweet and wonderful making me happy when I watch it

Trope of the day: hidden injury

(because we all know that I’m a sucker for that)

It’s been hours since they captured whumper’s henchman, but he won’t open his mouth. Team leader is out of ideas, still not wanting to cross the line. Torture shouldn’t be used even as their last resorts, but the kid just doesn’t open his mouth. When lieutenant enters the room from which team leader keeps an eye on their ‘guest’, he raises a brow.

“You still holdin’ onto those rules? You know what whumper did to our people, we should repay them,” he states rather matter-of-factly, but team leader shakes his head.

“No. What whumper did was their decision. That kid has done nothing to hurt our people. We wouldn’t be any better than whumper if we just let out our frustration on him.” He’s stern, sometimes a little stubborn, but team leader won’t budge. “I’ll try again, if he won’t talk, we need to continue tomorrow.”

With that, he enters the room where the kid still sits, hands cuffed to the table. The two lock eyes and team leader furrows his brow a bit. He is pretty sure that the other wasn’t as pale as he is now last time he went inside, but maybe he’s just imagining things. But the little tremor in henchman’s hands is also new.

“We don’t want to hurt you, you don’t need to be scared,” team leader says softly, hoping the shaking comes from the other’s fear of him and his team. “And we won’t hurt you, no matter what. It would still be more than helpful if you told us where the base is,” he continues and sits down in front of him.

Henchman nods. He nods and swallows thickly. His eyelids are drooping, sweat forms on his forehead and team leader gets up before the other loses consciousness, barking orders at lieutenant to get caretaker. Once he removed the cuffs, he helps the kid lie down, already checking what is going on, his hands come back blood smeared.

Caretaker is there quick enough to help, already examining the pale body, rapidly breathing. Team leader doesn’t even realise he’s holding the kid’s hand, only when the other squeezes it a bit he looks up, but doesn’t remove it. “Looks like he stitched himself up, the bandages are pretty sloppy,” caretaker mutters and looks at the kid that lets out a whimper. “Did you hide this from your boss?” A small nod is all he gets as a response and team leader and caretaker share a glance. They are pretty sure who did this to him … there’s no doubt.

Team leader pats the kid’s hand. “Don’t worry, we’ll take care of that.” He bites his tongue before he can add ‘and we’ll make sure something like this never happens again.’ But it’s true, if he can convince him, he will make sure that kid doesn’t have to hide his injuries anymore. He’d make sure that he doesn’t get injured in the first place.

His blood boils in resentment for whumper.
