My favourite production is coming back!

The Taiwan leg of the Asia Tour 2020 is officially set to resume February 10th 2022, after being cancelled last May, and will run through to almost the end of March (unless they add more dates).

There are many familiar faces as most of the original cast from South Korea are reprising their roles, a few individuals from other productions rejoining the Junkyard, and there is one new performer, Maddy Ambus, who is playing Bombalurina.

I am of course most excited to see Alice Batt return as Jellylorum and Ellie Nunan return as Jennyanydots! Not to mention all of the wonderful Swings like Caitlin New, Anina Pletscher, and Holly Meegan who have returned.

The cast of the 2022 Taiwan tour in their final cover run: 18 March, before beginning the last weekend of shows for the tour. Since it's a cover run rehearsal everyone's covering at least one role, and some characters and some actors are missing.

Ellie Nunan (usually Jenny) is Jellylorum, Connor McAllister (swing) is Gus, Andrew Dunne (swing) is Deuteronomy, Ashlee Hammerin (Demeter) is Bombalurina, Bradley Delarosbel (Admetus) is Munkustrap, Nathan Zach Johnson (Alonzo) is Tugger, Emily Casey (Cassandra) is Demeter, Caitlin New (swing) is Jenny, and Holly Meegan (swing) is Grizabella.

Looks like, over the weekend, Holly Meegan had her Grizabella debut for the 2022 Asia tour! She turned up in Xavier's tiktok on 13 March...

... although since she doesn't have social media of her own, it's hard to know whether it's the first time she's swung on for Jo Ampil.

Everybody's first cast, including Anina Pletscher (onstage swing) as her very own Electra. Out of costume are the two female booth swings: Holly Meegan in the blue shirt (covering Jenny, Jelly, and Griz), and Caitlin New in the black (covering Griz, Bomba, Tanto/Cori, and Jenny). All the other roles are covered by onstage cast shuffling around - starting with Anina!

You’re laughing. Skimble’s stuck on the ground fussing about indecisively and you’re laughing. :(

And by ‘you’ I mean Coricopat and Tantomile. His sister and the woman who’s covering his own role for the day. What betrayal. Never mind, he got up there in the end, under the cover of Jemima’s bow!

He had to give Jenny a cuddle because she’s played by Holly Meegan today, who doesn’t get a chance to go on often, so congratulations and support are in order. And look, he’s such a gentleman he had to stop and check if she wanted to come down for the final pose, so that ended up being (appropriately) a little late!

Aaron Lynch covering Skimbleshanks - always a great physical comedian, though he doesn’t get much of a chance to play around in his regular role as Coricopat!

And they kept having fun and being cute in the finale too. (She’s so adorable and tiny next to him!)

Coricopat is played by Caitlin New, and Emily Casey is Tantomile.

Question mark on Electra because there are some swings on here, so Anina Pletscher might be playing someone else there. Swing Benjamin Colley, for example, is the one crouching down and tracking Dominique’s movement—he would be covering either Tugger or Munkustrap, in which case we have a unique instance of one of them being kittenish on hands and knees!

On top of the ‘car’ (marked out with yellow tape) we have swing Andrew Dunne covering Gus, and swing Holly Meegan covering Jellylorum. Xavier Pellin (Misto) is lounging in front of the car with his back to the imagined audience. Behind him, Kade Hughes (Bill Bailey) is sharing a head nuzzle with Tyler Lotzof (Victoria), and swing Caitlin New is lounging on her own—probably covering Bombalurina.
