I am still not over patroclus constantly mulling over the fact that Achilles is going to die. And he is going to die young. To my understanding, Achilles is 16 when he makes the decision to go to war. Sixteen. He's still a fucking child. And he and Patroclus are about the same age. So, Patroclus, who is a teenager, is grappling with the fact the person he loves most will die soon. Granted it takes 10 years but he doesn't know that! For all he knows they could have no more than a few months left together. As someone who has a mountain of anxieties involving abandonment or death of the people I love. That hits a little too close to home. I get it more than I want to.

Patroclus is grieving his boyfriend at 16. He is accepting that he will die with his lover. At 16.
